Capturing Life's Essence with the Bar Stories at Camera Campari Photography Exhibition
As someone who cherishes the simple moments of life, I’ve always been drawn to the vibrant energy and camaraderie found within the walls of a bar. It’s a place where friendships are forged, stories are shared, and memories are made. So, when I heard about the Camera Campari photography exhibition in Milan, I knew I had to experience it for myself Как человек, который ценит простые моменты жизни,…

Raising the Bar: Confronting Ageism in the Drinks Industry
Introduction: In an industry celebrated for its spirited innovation and rich traditions, a less visible issue casts a long shadow over the vibrant world of bars and beverages: ageism. This form of discrimination, though subtle and often unnoticed, affects a wide range of professionals within the drinks industry, from the mixologists behind the bar to the managers and owners steering the…

Angry Hour
7/28/2017. Friday 9;45pm
I returned to Mini’s Bar. The bar tender lady remembered me. She remember the lost car episode. She almost remembered my name “Lee”.
4pm came. She called it "Angry Hour”. The bar tender lady toasted my drink even though it did not contain alcohol.
I felt at peace there in the dark. It’s like waiting for a bus that never comes. The bar patrons just sit and wait.
I told the bar tender lady that I was found ((I had quit drinking) The bartender lady said that she like’s the bar patrons “lost”. That’s her income.
I left, but realized that I had left my back pack there. I returned around 6pm. Many more jovial people there, just sitting there.
The bus never came.
End of this part of the entry
Note.
The lost car episode and my drinking sessions at Mini’s bar took place in 2010. I had parked my car in a nearby residential area, and due to alcohol consumption, couldn’t find it. I must have told the bar tender lady about it then.

I'm just gonna say something, Bar/Bat/B'nai mitzvahs are a celebration, they often but not always come with an after party and depending on the means of the parents of the lucky 13 year old they can be over the top sometimes. Much like rich kids with sweet 16s or Quinceañera.
okay thats out of the way, what I wanted to say is, I'm SICK of every media depiction of a Bar/Bat Mitzvah as a 100 million dollar, biggest party on the planet celebration of conspicuous consumption. Almost ALWAYS missing the you know Bar Mitzvah itself, and again depicting Jews over and over again as INSANELY wealthy. Like not everyone, hell not MOST people's Bar Mitzvah was huge and expensive.
another thing, I know by definition no 13 year old is cool, by definition they are greasy and annoying and cringe. But EVERY depiction of a Bar/Bat Mitzvah where the boy or girl of the hour is both an awkward loser and (particularly the boys) sleazy little creeps who are trying WAY too hard to impressive with their garishly massive (and expensive) party (and how often they quote how much something costs as if a 13 year old would know or care) it just seem a little close to the old antisemitic stereotype of Jews as crass and uncouth social climbers desperately trying to use their money to buy their way into classy society and forever failing.

For it is in bars that the Merciers of this heavenly planet, and the Camiers, talk with greatest freedom, greatest profit. Finally a great light bathed their understandings, flooding in particular the following concepts. 1. The lack of money is an evil. But it can turn into a good. 2. What is lost is lost. 3. The bicycle is a great good. But it can turn nasty, if ill employed. 4. There is food for thought in being down and out. 5. There are two needs: the need you have and they need to have it. 6. Intuition leads to many a folly. 7. That which the soul spews forth is never lost. 8. Pockets daily emptier of their last resources are enough to break the stoutest resolution. 9. The male trouser has got stuck in a rut, particularly the fly which should be transferred to the crotch and designed to open trapwise, permitting the testes, regardless of the whole sordid business of micturition, to take the air unobserved. The drawers should of course be transfigured in consequence. 10. Contrary to a prevalent opinion, there are places in nature from which God would appear to be absent. 11. What would one do without women? Explore other channels. 12. Soul: another four-letter word. 13. What can be said of life not already said? Many things. That its arse is a rotten shot for example.
Samuel Beckett, Mercier and Camier
Feeling hailed as an OCD overthinker talking to myself after smoking half a bowl
“What is lost is lost” is what my two feminist relational psychotherapist mentors say to me daily. You have to know someone or something is truly dead to truly mourn it.
“That which the soul spews forth is never lost” is the rejoinder from me, Louise Gluck, Beyonce, Marianne Williamson, and all the other etheric bitches.

Leaving the party early
Do you ever feel bummed when you expected to have a more exciting night out, but then end up having to just go home because there are no other options? Left unfulfilled and basically bored because you're understimulated by the lack of activity and energy. It's like alcohol makes a lot of people (not all) even more boring to talk to and only gives people an excuse to say they are not good at conversation when in reality, they're actually just uninteresting. It must be nice to be that stupid and ignorant.

Bars that offer only alcohol-free options have opened in Kelowna and Metro Vancouver, as they hope to stir up the province's drinks scene with a dry twist. Bevees in Port Coquitlam and Sobar in Kelowna believe they are the first "sober bars" in British Columbia, with both promising a sophisticated, inclusive bar atmosphere without the expectation — or, indeed, option — to drink alcohol. "They're [for] the people who want to enjoy Sunday morning as much as Saturday night," said Hanna Spinelli, co-owner of Sobar, which opened in downtown Kelowna on Friday. It joins a list of sober bars that have popped up around the world, including in Toronto, as demand for non-alcoholic beers, wines, spirits and pre-mixed cocktails skyrockets.
