Hi. Can YOU tell more about how You can detach parts of MTM barbie? So You can actually detach / exchange whole limpbs or parts of torso????

Yes you can! Limbs more so than the torso. The hands, feet, legs at the upper thigh swivel, and arms at the upper arm swivel all pop off relatively easy. I'd be careful with the hands and feet since the pegs are of a softer plastic. The upper torso can be separated from the lower torso but it takes a lot more force, would probably be easier with heat, and the torso will have a more loose/wobbly fit when you put it back together so I'd advise against it.

Found a 2009 Liv doll with a wig at the Thrift store. Neck peg on the body broke like, instantly, but she went onto a Barbie MTM body with only a little fuss. First time swapping heads ever!

Outfit is Rainbow High/Shadow High pieces, the boots don't "fit" but they are high enough to stay on so you can't even tell. I think the original Liv doll was a Katie with Daniela's wig.

Both were only 5ish dollars at Value Village, both found at the same store within a few weeks.

Those inset green eyes and the dark hair with the purple streak sold me on her immediately since that was how I wanted to customize this body anyways! The wig makes her head look a little big and it's already bigger than Barbie's but I kinda dig it.

One thing I don't like about current Barbie dolls is that they are either made-to-move or have no articulation at all. I'd love to see more dolls that have the 11 points of articulation.

It has dawned on me that none of the dolls I hoped might be body donors for princess of the incas barbie are a great match.

She has a very red/orange undertone that I can't find in any made to move dolls I have.

This is probably the closest. It's hard sometimes to match the older dolls.

Honestly, she's so pretty in her headdress and gown, I might just leave her as is.

Or just pick one of these bodies and not be too worried about it.

Welcome back to Toy Tuesday where I talk about Toys I like, Toys I collect, and Toy Projects of mine! Today we’re gonna be taking a look at the 90′s Holiday Barbies! Pictured above are 1992-1998. My mother decided to start collecting them for me. However since I was born in December of 1991 I didn’t have the 1990 or 1991 doll. Though the 1991 does look familiar so ...I Might have had it too. Obviously I no longer have them if you couldn’t tell. A kid’s gonna kid and eventually my mom let my sister and I open them up and play with them. I have adult regret, but I also know that...that’s just what kids do so I don’t linger on it.

These dolls are stunning! The new Holiday Barbies are really lame in comparison which is really sad. I just don’t know why Mattel can’t get it together with Barbie. What happened to the Glam? Maybe the new barbie movie will help that? My favorite was the brunette barbie with the bow dress, mostly because at the time it was the only holiday barbie with Brunette hair like me! All the others were blond like my sister since you know...they were BARBIE!

I have a little project  where I want to put myself in a bunch of doll/toy lines through customization!

I’ve had a MTM curvy Barbie body for awhile for that purpose. Originally I was just gonna make me, whatever, but then I started to think about putting myself into a specific Barbie Doll line and the Holiday Barbies were Barbies I owned and loved very very much! Perfect!

Now as far as theme goes I have a few ideas. -Christmas Tree (There is a lack of bright green in the 90′s Holiday Doll set!) -Reindeer (A way to add a new color to the set, Brown!) -Gingerbread (I think this one might not come off as glamrous enough. I’m so on the fence about it that I didn’t make a concept art for it. XP

Christmas Tree:

Yeah these concepts are really rough and don’t look like the finished doll would look! But you get the idea right? The Christmas Tree doll would be lots of layered, gathered tulle with some baubles and such added to it! Reindeer:

The Reindeer one is fun because I wanted to play around with the idea of a Harness in the form of a big cage skirt! I know I should have planned this out BEFORE Christmas so I had access to more of the materials. Those things are a smidgen harder to find post Christmas especially the miniature ornaments and stuff for the Christmas Tree concept, but I can manage! Anyway that’s what I got do far. What are your thoughts?
