i know this is a very bigoted mindset to have but... north americans are strange
no no no, i don’t mean to say it in a mean way.. and i am well aware that judging a population as weird based on a few individuals isn’t very enlightened
((and i would lie if i said that my country didn’t have its fair share of lunatics))
but still, you guys behave in the most peculiar manners sometimes

batfam x male child reader who likes collecting buttons and random things but also likes stealing random weapons bc they look cool like steals knives from damien and has gotten his hands on jason’s funda few times
Thanks for the idea anon! Sorry this took a while and I may have taken it to another direction, so I still hope you like this.
Summary: (Y/N) is a magnet for weapons. Especially if they are the property of his older brothers.
Warnings: Weapons, (Y/N) always getting his hands on weapons, Bruce being stressed and tired.
Tumblr media
Bruce didn't notice that (Y/N) had a liking towards weapons until the boy was 3. As any baby, he would want shiny and colorful things. It was only natural for babies. The boys knew that and always made sure to have something colorful on hand to entertain the boy.
But when he reached 3, he would seem to like weapons. Especially if it was from his brother's. (Y/N) would find a way to weapons, one way or another. The boys were sometimes careless and left weapons laying around, which scared the living lights out of Bruce more than one time.
Jason has even said that once (Y/N) grows up, he will be the most annoying Robin ever. And it's not like Bruce has started training him a little. Just in case something happens.
So, as fate would have, he was not gifted by a normal child, that likes baseball or some other sport or that likes something related to art. He got a kid that adores weapons. Almost a Damian 2.0.
Alfred would say he would grow out of it, he is just imitating his older brothers, but Bruce wasn't so sure. He really wasn't. So, to avoid such situations, Bruce told the boys to keep their weapons under lock and key. That was directed to Damian and Jason.
Now, the boy is 5 and... Bruce is even more stressed. (Y/N) is a magnet for weapons and he didn't start liking anything else. Bruce has tried. Baseball, drawing, collecting stamps, reading... But no... He has a 5th child who was in love with weapons.
So, the stress was now tripled.
Bruce got home from work, ready to go to bed and take a nap. He knew that (Y/N) would also like a nap, so he went to look for him. What he heard instead, made him regret coming home.
" (Y/N), give me back my knife! " Damian's voice rang out and it made him sigh. Not again.
He got ready as the footsteps got closer and closer. And once he saw (H/C) hair, he swooped him up, being careful of the knife.
" Papa! " (Y/N) exclaimed in surprise.
" (Y/N), what did we say about taking Damian's weapons? Especially his knifes? " Bruce asked, taking the knife and handing it back to Damian.
" Damian gave it to me. "
Bruce simply hummed and adjusted his youngest in his arms.
" (Y/N)… What did we say about taking blades? "
" That we shouldn't take them, but they are so pretty. Especially Damian's! " (Y/N) exclaimed, waving his arms around.
" I know, but they are also dangerous. "
(Y/N) pouted and simply leaned on Bruce's chest. He was slightly tired from all running around. Especially after stressing and getting Bruce some gray hairs.
" You tired bud? "
" Yes... Can you stay with me dad? "
Bruce smiled at him and nodded. He walked to his bedroom, before gently throwing his son on the bed. (Y/N) let out an oof, before giggling. Bruce quickly went to the bathroom and changed into some more comfortable clothes before snuggling his youngest son.
" Dad? "
" Yes bud? "
" Will I ever have blades? Like Damian and Jason? "
Bruce wanted to say no, you won't be surrounded by weapons, you will enjoy your life without them. And not damage my furniture.
" One day, when you get older. Your brothers will even teach you how to take care of them. "
" Really?! " (Y/N) asked, all excited.
" Yes. But for now, we can go to sleep. You did say that you are tired. "
(Y/N) didn't say anything, simply snuggling into Bruce's chest. Bruce put the covers higher and closed his eyes, making sure that his son was close to him.
Bruce sighed as he overlooked the preparations for the gala. Everything looked like perfect and more importantly, all the blades were... Somewhere safe, far away from (Y/N)'s reach. Not to mention they still had to monitor the young boy, hoping he wouldn't get his hands on any types of weapons. He doesn't want a headline in the news tomorrow.
" Okay guys, keep an eye on (Y/N). We can't have him running around with a blade in his hands. " Bruce said, tired.
Bruce got promises that there was going to be extra supervision over (Y/N). Maybe he will have a gala that won't be a disaster. For once... Bruce shook his head. Something is definitely going to go wrong tonight, something warranting a headline tomorrow.
Why does this always happen to him?
" Are you alright master Bruce? " Alfred asked, carrying the small bundle of joy that gives Bruce new gray hairs everyday.
" I have a feeling that something is going to go wrong Alfred. " Bruce said, opening his arms to take the young boy into his arms.
" Are we talking headline wrong master Bruce? "
" I don't want to say yes, but that's what I'm worried about. "
Bruce glanced down at the youngest, who was pouting.
" What's wrong bud? "
" I don't like this suit dad. "
Bruce adjusted him in his arms and gave him a kiss to the side of the head.
" I think there is an another reason, am I right? " Bruce smiled at his son.
(Y/N) had no access to blades for the whole day and was unhappy and grumpy. Bruce was proud of his boys for making sure that the blades were taken care of. Especially Damian and Jason.
(Y/N) didn't respond, simply looking away. Bruce chuckled at his son's behavior. He is a truly stubborn person.
" Oh don't be sad bud. "
Jason came into the room, wanting to hold (Y/N). Bruce gave him the toddler and Jason turned on his big brother magic.
" Don't be sad. " Jason said leaving the room. He knew Bruce wouldn't like to hear this.
" You know what we can do bud? " Jason asked waiting for the response. He got a shake of the head.
" We can sneak into Damian's room later and take a look at his blades, but, " Jason interrupted the excited child, " You need to be good tonight. No misbehaving. Now, give me a pinky promise. " Jason said, looping their pinkies together.
" Good. "
Now the only thing he needs is to let Damian know about the plan.
Bruce was suspicious of his youngest son. He was far too... Good. He wasn't creating chaos with the help of his brothers, so Bruce was confused and suspicious. He finished up a talk with one of his partners and looked for Jason. He knows Jason has something to do with this. He was the last one to talk with (Y/N) and he is behaving all of a sudden.
He found him at the table with food.
" Hey old man. "
" What did you say to (Y/N)? " Bruce asked, getting right to the point.
" What do you mean? " Jason asked, tilting his head to the right.
" Why is (Y/N) behaving? You are usually helping him with creating chaos around here. "
" I didn't do anything Bruce. " Jason said, leaving a frustrated Bruce behind.
He sighed as he turned to look at his son. He was with Damian and talking to Jon Kent. Speaking of the Kents, he needs to find Clark. Clark is (Y/N)'s favorite uncle and Clark will be able to talk to (Y/N) without making it sound suspicious.
" How's it going Bruce? " Clark asked.
" I don't know. (Y/N) is behaving well and I am suspicious. You need to use your uncle powers and talk to him. "
Clark chuckled at the uncle powers. He knew that (Y/N) loved him a lot.
" I will try to fish something out of him. "
" Thank you Clark. "
Clark got nothing. (Y/N) was either behaving because he wanted to or he was hiding something.
" Nothing Bruce. "
" What? " Bruce asked.
" Yup. He is either behaving well just because he wants to or he is hiding something. Nothing in between. "
" Oh (Y/N), what are you doing to me? "
He glanced at his son, now with Tim and Dick, who guarding him from the reporters who clearly wanted to talk to young boy.
The gala was over, there was no trouble and the boys went up to their rooms. Bruce talked with Clark for a bit, before escorting him out and going upstairs to his own room.
He stopped by Damian's once he heard Jason and some laughing that was far too child like. He opened the door and sighed. (Y/N) was on the carpet in the room, Damian sitting on his bed, looking amused. Jason was next to (Y/N) holding Damian's blades while (Y/N) was hypnotized by them.
" So this is the reason why he was behaving so well. " Bruce said.
(Y/N) didn't even react to Bruce being here.
" Okay, 15 more minutes then he is off to bed and we are off to patrol. Okay? " Bruce asked both of his sons.
They both nodded and Bruce went to the cave. He laughed to himself for a second, relishing in the fact that if (Y/N) wants to become a Robin, he will be the most annoying one.

We have been seeing numerous stories in the media about how people support Donald Trump because he did such a great job with the economy. Obviously, people can believe whatever they want about the world, but it is worth reminding people what the world actually looked like when Trump left office (kicking and screaming) and Biden stepped into the White House.
Trump’s Legacy: Mass Unemployment
The economy had largely shut down in the spring of 2020 because of the pandemic. It was still very far from fully reopening at the point of the transition.
In January of 2021, the unemployment rate was 6.4 percent, up from 3.5 percent before the pandemic hit at the start of the year. A more striking figure than the unemployment rate was the employment rate, the percentage of the population that was working. This had fallen from 61.1 percent to 57.4 percent, a level that was lower than the low point of the Great Recession.
The number of people employed in January of 2021 was nearly 8 million people below what it had been before the pandemic. We see the same story if we look at the measure of jobs in the Bureau of Labor Statistics establishment survey. The number of jobs was down by more than 9.4 million from the pre-pandemic level.
We were also not on a clear path toward regaining these jobs rapidly. The economy actually lost 268,000 jobs in December of 2020. The average rate of job creation in the last three months of the Trump administration was just 163,000.
What the World Looked Like When Donald Trump Left Office
In the fourth quarter of 2020 the economy was still being shaped in a very big way by the pandemic. Most of the closures mandated at the start of the pandemic had been lifted, but most people were not conducting their lives as if the pandemic had gone away. We can see this very clearly in the consumption data.
Tumblr media
Source: Bureau of Economic Analysis and author’s calculations.
The figure above shows the falloff in consumption between the fourth quarter of 2019 and the fourth quarter of 2020 in some of the areas hardest hit by the pandemic. While overall consumption was down just 0.8 percent, there has been an enormous shift from services to goods.
Inflation-adjusted spending at restaurants was down by 21.5 percent, and much of this spending went for picking up food rather than sit-down meals. Spending at bars was down 47.7 percent. Spending at hotels and motels was down by 43.8 percent as people had hugely cut back travel. Air travel was down 52.4 percent.
Spending on football games, baseball games, and sports events was down by 68.3 percent. Spending on live concerts and other entertainment was down a bit less, at 67.4 percent. And movie going was down 92.7 percent.
The Story of Cheap Gas
Donald Trump and his supporters have often boasted about the cheap gas we had when he was in office. This is true. Gas prices did fall below $2.00 a gallon in the spring of 2020 when the economy was largely shut down, although they had risen above $2.30 a gallon by the time Trump left office. The cause of low prices was hardly a secret, demand in the U.S. and around the world had collapsed. In the fourth quarter of 2020 gas consumption was still 12.5 percent below where it had been before the pandemic.
In fact, gas prices likely would have been even lower in this period if not for Trump’s actions, which he boasted about at the time. Trump claimed to have worked a deal with Russia and OPEC to slash production and keep gas prices from falling further. The sharp cutbacks in production were a major factor in the high prices when the economy began to normalize after President Biden came into office since oil production cannot be instantly restarted.
The End of the Trump Economy Was a Sad Story
Donald Trump handed President Biden an incredibly damaged economy at the start of 2021. People can rightfully say that the problems were due to the pandemic, not Trump’s mismanagement, but the impact of the pandemic did not end on January 21. The problems associated with the pandemic were the main reason the United States, like every other wealthy country, suffered a major bout of inflation in 2021 and 2022.
It is often said that people don’t care about causes, they just care about results. This is entirely plausible, but the results in the last year of the Trump administration were truly horrible by almost any measure.
It may be the case that people are more willing to forgive Trump for the damage the pandemic did to the economy than Biden, but that is not an explanation based on the reality in people’s lives, or “lived experience” to use the fashionable term.
That would mean that for some reason people recognize and forgive Trump for the difficult circumstances he faced as a result of the pandemic, but they don’t with Biden. It would be worth asking why that could be the case.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i've done more than enough fuh naff redesigns it's time for charles entertainment cheese and his gang to receive a makeover
what i had in mind while doing this was a (personal dream job) HYPOTHETICAL!!! scenario where somehow i've gone back in time and convinced the execs of showbiz pizza time inc to not only keep both cec and showbiz open, but begin a gimmick wherein we lean into the whole "pizza wars" thing and actively pit the characters against each other in a friendly rivalry sort of deal.
firstly youll probably notice that i replaced munch and pasqually with two ptt characters i like much better- pleasemunchandpasquallylikersdonthurtme- that being crusty and harmony. due to my own personal tastes but also because i think adding a second female member of the animatronic lineup evens things out pretty well.
second, is that they all are brand new incarnations of each character, and have their own blurbs i've decided to write down below under the readmore to explain. because this caption is insanely long already. happy reading!!! the rockafire counterpart to this post is coming shortly. so keep an eye out ;)
FIRST AND FOREMOST is the big man himself!!!! chuck e cheese!!! this chuck is an archetypal rebellious teen and cool kid whose primary hobbies include skateboarding and video games. he's got a sort of arrogant i'm-the-shit attitude about him and he definitely can come off as cocky. but he's not necessarily mean spirited either, he really does care for his friends, he's just full of himself.
now, for his rockafire rival (which you will find all the bots have their direct counterpart on the showbiz side of things) you may expect billy bob because mascots of the restaurant and all. but billy bob actually acts more as a mediator in all this, being the only one who has no rival, instead chuck's is beach bear. which will explain why beach has such an aversion to skateboarding - he associates it with the rat boi! chuck doesnt necessarily have anything personal against beach (because this is all in good fun and not anything malicious at all) but beach does feel like chuck's a bit too stuck up for his liking. and also, he can't stand sore losers, or folks who brag about their accomplishments. chuck in turn thinks beach is a bit of a stick in the mud and goody two shoes who doesnt know how to have REAL fun. again these are all FRIENDLY rivalries so nobody's truly mad at anyone just some reasoning.
secondly my gal helen henny. is the direct opposite of mitzi mozzarella of course, who is the popular girl in their high school and head of the cheerleading squad. helen meanwhile is the nerdy type who gets straight a's and sucks up to the teachers a lot. she doesnt get out much besides doing gigs singing in the pizzeria and otherwise is a bit of a shut in. mitzi thinks helen should loosen up, but helen thinks mitzi should be more focused on her future and realize that after high school "popularity" means nothing. theyll still eventually end up being gay married, but thats not until way after they both have graduated from college in which they will reconnect after a chance meeting in the local in universe starbucks, sparking a slow burn romance that eventually leads to the two being wed. but for now, they simply pass each other in the hallway with a friendly nod and perhaps a light chat about the weather.
crusty is in a sports college on a scholarship playing baseball and is one of the strongest team members on campus. he's more reserved and shy most of the time, but really comes out of his shell and shines on stage singing with the others. his dilemma mirrors high school musical in that he's embarrassed to admit that he loves to perform on stage to his fellow baseball players, who are currently unaware of crusty's thespian side. for his rival, fatz geronimo is actually a professor at crusty's college and crusty thinks it's a bit weird how theyre both performers in rival pizzerias. fatz wishes crusty would own up to his love of both baseball and theatre, sometimes giving him dad lectures about being yourself and you only got one life to live so you better make the most of it, while crusty just wishes the old man would mind his own business and butt out of his personal matters. deep down though he appreciates that at least someone cares about what HE wants though.
jasper t jowls in this era is a he/him lesbian because i say so and i make the rules here. he and harmony are open about them being a pair and are often uber affectionate with each other, in front of guests and their friends and all. they really dont care who sees lol. jasper is a farm dog that puts off his chores to go hang with his girlfriend and their friend group. he'd rather spend his hours practicing the banjo and wooing his lady than doing any sort of work, he's real lazy like that. his family thinks his dreams of being a rockstar are ridiculous and so jasper internalizes this way of thinking when it comes to dook larue, who dreams of being an astro physicist and has the support of all his folks. in reality jasper is jealous of dook not having to deal with criticism from his family and being able to freely follow his passions without outside pressure. dook sees jasper as weak willed and thinks he should grow a backbone, but the space doggo most of all just feels bad for the farm doggo and resents his family for not being supportive of his dreams. still, dook's idea of a pep talk is telling jasper to let his folks know what he REALLY thinks and jasper isnt too fond of the idea.
and finally harmony howlette is the resident ranch coyote!!!! shes an expert at wrangling wild mustangs and taming them and preparing them to be farm horses. shes sassy and blunt and takes no shit. sometimes having a hard time keeping her comments to herself. but shes also sweet and genuine, real down to earth type of gal. its what jasper likes best about her. shes rolfe dewolfe's rival, she thinks hes almost as stuck up as chuck can be but to her at least chuck has redeeming qualities about him. in her mind rolfe is just some washed up comedian that lets his assistant earle pick on him to get a cheap laugh out of the audience. which, rolfe doesnt necessarily deny the part about letting earle pick on him, but he thinks harmony needs to learn to take a joke and worry about herself a little more. he says that having a southern accent and country charm isnt a personality trait and wonders what jasper sees in her.

I happened to be near soldier field and saw their sign. Why are fanny packs prohibited? 😲
Tumblr media
[ID: A sign posted in the park on the way to Soldier Field stadium; it's not clearly readable but the rules for what is not allowed in Soldier Field are lengthy. There is a big international "no" sign over a gun at the top of the list, and at the bottom it mentions Soldier Field is a non-smoking facility.]
Soldier Field's bag policy is pretty fucking insane. They send you like three emails about it before the event, because they want to make really sure you get it, and they also have lockers at the stadium in case you weren't paying attention.
The tl;dr is that the only bags you can carry into the stadium are a 12" clear plastic tote, a gallon ziplock, or a clutch purse less than 5x7" (no shoulder or waist strap). The clutch can be opaque, but any other bag has to be clear and none of them can "attach" to your person by means of a strap. This isn't exclusive to any specific event, it's standard stadium policy, so it applies to both sporting and entertainment events like concerts.
Aside from a handful of games at Wrigley several years ago, I haven't been in a pro stadium in more than a decade. I've only been attending ballgames at minor league stadiums, where they might search your bag or they might just wave you through. I'm pretty sure some of the games I've attended in Texas allowed open carry. Even Wrigley just searched whatever bag you were carrying. So this policy might be standard at football stadiums more than baseball, but it's also fucked up. Presumably it both ensures that you don't bring outside consumables into the park, so that they get that sweet concessions cash, and that you don't bring a weapon or anything that could be used as a weapon.
I bought a bottle of water and a box of popcorn at the park and it ran me $13, and let me tell you that kind of price gouging could definitely inspire violence.
Potentially the issue is real; Chicago has a problem with gun violence, the US in general has a problem with mass shooters, and soccer is by far the most shouty and passionate sport I've ever been involved in. Still, if you're already putting us through metal detectors (and they are) I think you can ease back and maybe let a bastard have a messenger bag.
(Just so I don't get a dozen comments about this: yes, UK, we know what a fanny means there, it means butt in the US, a fanny pack is a bag that sits on your butt.)

I just honestly want to spend a day with sports ross bf . I know that I'm not into basketball or baseball games, they're kinda whatever to me but fuck if ross wanted me to go with him to a game I'd be willing to go. Like I'd hold him so tightly while we're watching the game . He'd whisper on my ear to explain to me what's happening in the game since I have no knowledge. Also, me and Ross would eat a bucket of popcorn during the game.<3
this is so cute!! i fully see the vision like sports bf ross is a babe <33
i feel like if you were a non-sports girlie he'd very much try to explain it to you while not being able to peel his eyes away from the actual game lmao, just like "so if they do that then our team gets a free thr--NO NO, WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!" making you giggle at how passionate and invested he gets lol. i think you might just steal most of the popcorn in the bucket since he's way too into the game to notice it and it's so entertaining to just eat popcorn and watch him go through the five stages of grief in three seconds flat. if you were watching football, you best believe he's making you dress up in matching scotland tops (the bond between a man and his fav loser football team needs to be studied.)
if you're with the others at a game (polly, jordan and john that is), then they're 100% discussing it around you in rapid sentences leaving you highly amused.
if you are a sports girlie however then i fully imagine it going like andie and ben at the knicks game (well, before she started her experiment anyway). just absolutely going crazy and cheering at the right moments and excitedly hugging and kissing whenever your team scores a goal??? basket??? (not a sports girlie, as you can tell).
100% expect to be a part of the kiss cam (if they still do it that is? it looks like a fairly common thing) and once again if you're with everyone else then there's going to be so much friendly rivalry and bets and banter.
absolutely a fun day <3

Already posted this on twitter but tumblr tends to be a better place for this sort of thing. so. just basically gonna copy-paste the qt I did for this.
Tumblr media
so, interesting thing that i feel is a prime example of why this "problem" is utterly made up bullshit capitalist propaganda.
back in the 90s, OKC was essentially dying. downtown was one of the worst in the nation. gang infested, falling apart, roads not only in severe disrepair but very poorly planned, and utterly reliant on offices nobody wanted to work in for good reason. it was BAD. (edit: also the 1980s recession hit here especially hard so it was suffering in general from the fallout of that, too.)
enter the MAPS program. a 66 month long temp raise on sales taxes to completely revitalize, restructure, and rebuild our downtown from the ground up. nothing like this had ever been done before in the nation, not on this scale. and keep in mind OK has notoriously been very red.
this was a bipartisan project (and continues to be still) and believe it or not got some of the most support during republican rule. i don't think there's ever been a project proposal before or since that received such outstanding support by voters either. everyone wanted it.
with MAPS our downtown got a convention center, music hall, trolley system, baseball stadium, library, arena, new streets, and like 3 miles of river dammed and moved to create a canal and set the foundation for future projects on the river itself.
by the 2000s, downtown was completely transformed. MAPS was so successful that another one was proposed and passed. And then 2 more.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
since the original MAPS, theres been new parks added, river sports, cultural centers, hiking/walking trails, more street upgrades, a senior wellness center, state fair improvements, public transit upgrades, and too many infrastructure improvements to name.
OKC is now a contender to other major attractive downtowns in the nation. it is now a place you WANT to go. we got our own NBA team now that shaped some of the best in the league currently. it's one of the few walkable areas in the whole state too. its honestly beautiful.
point is, we got here by adding enrichment, art, entertainment, and public spaces. not more offices. not more soulless cooperations. not more industry. those were the problem, getting rid of them and replacing them with ways to improve happiness and community was the solution.
and we did it in one of the most socialist ways possible. in one of the reddest states in the nation. if your downtown is dying bc nobody wants to return to offices, then your downtown was dead already to begin with. work should not be the reason a downtown thrives.
so don't believe the capitalist propaganda for a single second. we have 30 years of evidence right here in OKC to prove that shit wrong at every turn. and any politician who spouts that rhetoric is 100% bought and paid for by some major corp.
anyway MAPS is really cool and everyone should read up on it https://okc.gov/government/maps-3/maps-history and advocate for similar projects like it in your own metro. if one of the poorest, most conservative and oft forgotten about places in the nation can do it, any city can.
and PS: all of this was happening at the same time as the Murrah bombing recovery - at the time the largest domestic terrorist attack in the nation. so like. there really is no excuse for a city to allow their downtown to die other than politicians licking the boots of big corps.
PPS: the newest MAPS was just passed a couple of years ago and is the largest one of them yet. we'll be getting more parks, a youth center, another senior center, a mental health and addiction facility, more public transit, more upgrades to streets, a new animal shelter, additions to the state fairgrounds, a civil rights center, lots of beautification, a multipurpose stadium, and three pretty fucking amazing projects that are worth going into more detail about. A family justice center - a temporary one exists but this one will be permanent. this is a really fucking cool place that helps victims of sexual assault, human trafficking, elder abuse, domestic violence, and children who've been through traumatic situations. a diversion center - this will essentially be a way to get people out of the prison system and back into society. it's for low-level, non-violent offenders that really shouldn't have landed in prison in the first place. our prisons are fucked around here, and so extremely overcrowded. I'm sure that could be said for most around the nation. this is more like rehabilitation and its really awesome to see. and lastly, a wholeass chunk dedicated to fighting homelessness - the first time this has really, truly been addressed with logical solutions. i gotta give big fuckin kudos to everyone involved on this one - its something they discussed openly with citizens, something they asked for suggestions about, something they've wanted to solve rather than just hide and needed the public's help to figure that out. the goal is to completely eradicate it by shifting focus to a housing-first program, create truly affordable housing (of which there is an extreme lack of in the heart of OKC), and offer services at every step of the way to make sure once a person is housed, they are able to also support themselves and stay housed. with $50mil from MAPS and $400mil from outside sources, this will be the largest of any of the projects to date and I am SO thrilled about it.

This was a head canon I made up while commenting on a fic. The origins of how the UA Sports Festival becoming extremely popular was the result of the HPSC taking advantage of All Might's rising popularity(due to his crusade against AFO) and giving UA a lot of money and cameras to give the public a bigger show that most would not need. The reason why I would think of this is that the HPSC would very likely do this and it would validate some ideas that some would have about the Sports Festival.
Sports did go on a decline due to Quirks literally changing the game, though the rate it did depends on the country and the likelihood of Quirks getting integrated into sports. I can see that the USA would be more likely to include Quirks into sports or even invent a new one given the love of violence while in Japan, the sports would be on the decline as they want strict adherence to the rules until recently. If that baseball short is anything, Quirks did integrate into sports but the degree of freedom depends on the country's Quirk usage laws.
Since Japan canonically did suffer a lot due to the Quirk apocalypse, that they had AFO ruling in the shadows, and as an island country, their issues and problems would be a lot more contain in their countries but at the cost of being harder to treat from the outside. When All Might came back to Japan and started to treat the problem, the HPSC took advantage of his good works and looked towards how to get more power from it.
In order for the UA Sports Festival to become more popular than the Olympics, it needed to have a lot of money, cameras and timing for it to become popular. The HPSC simply saw All Might's origin story and gave UA all of the money and supplies they needed as it would be "wonderful" entertainment for the masses as they recover from the fall of AFO's grip of Japan. This would explain how the Sports Festival became extremely popular in recent memory.
The reason why other countries wouldn't have some sort of extremely popular sport is that since the UA Sports Festival occur in May, it is the same time where a majority of the world's population(The North Americas and Europe) would end their school year on average and their sports are only beginning their seasons for the summer. The UA Sports Festivals just happens to occur just before these sport season are to start so a lot of people will be looking at the latest event in the year.
TLDR- blame the HPSC for the reason why the UA Sports Festival became extremely popular. All Might's work against AFO allowed for Japanese society to recover from AFO's dystopia and Japan perceives that the HPSC's dystopia as a lot better than before.
Intriguing

14 Fans
“They are such a tasty treat even before they realize that they are a keeper.”
Fans are always bound to form when artists, stars and athletes become a favorite to the people. Imagine how many of these fan favorites are also favored in return for more than just for their popularity they bring. Let's chat once more on why fans are such a start favorite to fellow stars in the entertainment industry.
Music fills the mind and entertains the soul in ways that each person can only experience in their own ways. As for the artists and team that go into making such music just a fingertips away they do enjoy some of the benefits when a fan wants to meet the artists or a few sneaked their way past the secretary. I mean stars got to eat and no one is really going to pay attention to where one or a small group of fans left after meeting the stars themselves (yet, only the paparazzi are bold enough to do some digging and may end up not returning, haha). Fans are like a free lunch to some stars while others just want the company without the need to get up to grab some lunch. The ones that want some company are the lucky few to get to leave out the same way entering and under contract may get to see them again as long as they don’t go spreading around what happened between them (otherwise security will get a free “lunch”).
Next are the movie and show stars that have mobs of fans all around the place wanting to meet them in person. They are surely the most dangerous kind of preds for a fan to face due to a star's acting skill. Say a few words, put on a show and hit all the right keys to make sure any fan follows these stars into their dressing rooms (and not come out again). I know I said before that these fans won’t be dead permanently and will respawn back in the last safe space they were in, but I’m sure they would be a bit angry to go out of their way to retrieve any of their belongings and fan merch they bought somehow. Maybe the star will be kind enough to have someone send their things to their place or keep a few things that catch their interest while having their assistance deal with the rest of the remaining stuff.
Lastly, those athletes that can make room to enjoy a quick bite before a game. Of course how many they eat and who they eat depends on the athlete’s taste along with the sport they play. Football I can see men in the locker room gladly taking up on letting a few fans come on in (good way to keep them surrounded with only one way for them to go next). 1 to 2 can be packed away before the game and could be considered lucky to be so close to the game. Soccer would need to save their eating season for after the game and could be seen eating more fans after winning a match than after losing a match. Baseball and basketball would be similar as well in when they should eat since playing on a full stomach would be quite the problem in movement speed. Though one thing they can all share is bucking up and a need for protein. Fan meet ups would be the perfect way to feed a few, keep a lot more and pack them away before hitting the gym.

what's your opinion on the integration of the ufbl and mbl? some are saying that the mobians have an unfair advantage when batting due to being shorter and having a better angle on the ball, and that the humans have an advantage by being able to sprint faster.
do you think this will negatively affect professional baseball overall? or is integration of the species good for the popularity of the sport?
This is very bad for baseball. I was pretty surprised to read about the integration going through, but then again the UFBL loves shooting itself in the foot so I don't know why I expected any different.
Let's be real: no one watches the MBL because it's good baseball. Their fields are poorly maintained and they have no age restrictions on players or umpires. We all remember that time a six year-old umpire cried when a coach yelled at him for making a bad call. It's gruesome to watch sometimes. But people still tune in. Why?
The MBL allows chaos-affected individuals to play. Have you ever seen a mouse with super strength hit the ball so hard it landed 10km away? It's fucking awesome. Most of their games are absolute chaos. Nothing is more entertaining than watching them try to overpower each other with stacked teams.
Now, this merger is banning Mobian players from using their powers during the game. The only reason to watch the MBL is being taken away. On average, Mobians tend to be a bit weaker than humans. As you said, they're shorter and tend to be a bit slower on their feet. I don't know how they're supposed to compete without their powers. The leagues seem to have realized this and will be mandating species diversity quotas so the teams are always at least 14% Mobian. A significant portion of pro baseball will now be weaker because of league mandates. It's incredibly stupid.
What is this supposed to accomplish? None of those stupid furries have money anyways so it's not like they're going to be spending on merchandise. Is it supposed to teach their kids that they can accomplish anything regardless of their background? Yeah, okay, I'm sure watching people who look like them get their asses kicked on national TV will boost their confidence. Like, what were they thinking going through with this?
I'm sure they'll realize their mistake by the end of the season. Unfortunately, our politically correct society will never let them revert their decisions. All these moronic liberals and leftists will never understand that true egalitarianism is best achieved when we segregate leisure activities based on perceived biological differences. Next you're going to tell me that they want to integrate the chess leagues, too. Give me a break.

So, maybe I'm just self-projecting a bit with this one, but Chase kinda strikes me as some form of neurodivergent. Stuff like the rapid punching the air motion or the dance he does after receiving a marshmallow in episode 8 could be forms of stimming when he's excited. And while he does more extreme stuff such as water-skiing or freaking jumping out of a helicopter, he also briefly narrates himself playing baseball in episode 9 (possible hyperfixation on sports?). Also, a couple of instances where he's shown to not fully pick up on the emotions or tone of others in certain situations (mostly with Emma but also a bit with Millie and Priya in the beginning of episode 4).
Now imagine him never having a proper diagnosis growing up (it didn't dawn on his parents because why would it) at was to some degree outcasted by most of his peers as a kid, so he started to over-exaggerate his stims after moving into the beach house to make it seem like he's just being extra for the camera or even keep quiet about his interests (refraining himself from info-dumping cause he got weird looks from people in the past).
-🍉🦊
NO YOURE SO CORRECT ABOUT THIS ITS SO REALLL he's absolutely neurodivergent in some shape or form. he auto exaggerates his actions because it makes the content more entertaining for children. no other reason. you're so real actually

F1 in America is and always will be cringy and thats just part of the experience.
Many of us were sitting down or standing up on an exciting Sunday afternoon when we F1 fans collectively saw the cringe-fest that was Will. I. Am and LL Cool J's star-studded introductions of twenty of the best drivers in the world.
And as we were watching and cringing and closing our eyes and opening them because we were getting some serious secondhand embarrassment (at least I was,) we collectively all asked ourselves why this was happening and was the Fanfare necessary.
Among with backlash from Twitter, and even some drivers speaking up about how unnecessary and distracting it was to do these introductions, many people wondered why the promoters and event organizers would choose to do something like that, especially on race day.
So, why did that happen, and why was it so cringy?
The simple answer is money. I think to those who know and may not already know that any sport in America is highly commercialized and starts not with the teams or the sport itself but the idolization of those who operate in it. It has always been this way, even with sports outside the united states.
For instance, I bet most people could care less about the stats for the Kansas City Chiefs or The Cleveland Browns. Still, they know who Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Joe Burrow are, or they could tell you that Lebron James plays for the Lakers and Stephen Curry plays for the Golden state warriors. Still, they don't know their positions or stats, but they could tell you their jersey number, what kind of shoes they prefer, their latest Instagram post, and who they are currently seeing. It happens often.
So why does this happen?
In sports, especially in American sports, it is not enough to be good at the sport. You have to be the best, and you have to be likable. That starts with your online presence, how the fan base perceives you, and how others perceive the sport. It is simply not enough to attend a sporting event and be entertained. It is a performance from the time you, the paying attendee, walk into that sporting event until you leave.
That's why they have halftime shows at basketball and football games; they have professional cheerleaders, crowd participation events, and mini-games on the sidelines of Major and Minor league baseball Innings. These entertainment tactics ensure that people have a good time and want to return.
So why does this happen in F1 when it comes to America?
Fanfare and Fanservice. Events in America, as I've stated before, are highly commercialized. That's how it is. And, because America is so big and the interest is so varied, organizations and promoters are left with having to find a way to appeal to bigger audiences. But, in addition to that, interest in things peaks and then declines drastically. And because of this, one of their highly effective tactics is to induce this feeling of FOMO.
" If you're not in Miami this weekend, where are you? Oh, you weren't in Austin this weekend, then where were you? Oh, you're not going to the race in Vegas? I'm sad for you."
Fanfare and the Fear of Missing out is an effective way to sell tickets, and because the United States only experiences three races as of this year, and the continent of North America in total experiences five races, if you're willing and have money to travel to Mexico and Canada, there are not a lot of opportunities to see these races in person, granted if they even have a passport (which is a conversation for another day.)
In addition, you have Drive to Survive on Netflix, which has gotten more people into the sport, especially in America, and in my opinion, has helped pave the way to getting Miami and Las Vegas on the schedule. In addition, the show has given newer fans a glimpse into the fast-moving world of F1, even on an overly dramatic scale. And to some extent, they expect that type of drama and scale when they go to these races. So, therefore, the Fanfare has to be bigger and better than the last to ensure that the sport can continue to become popular in America.
So the organizers use big names like LLCoolJ and Will.I.Am, and they invite celebrities like Tom Cruise, Vin Diesel, and the cast of Fast and Furious; they have had companies that invite influencers who have nothing to do with the sport, trying to get as much publicity on the event so that the rest of America has this feeling of wanting to be where the action is taking place.
For comparison, This is the same reason why Beyonce or Taylor Swift can sell their concert tickets at astronomically high prices because you are not paying to go to a concert, but rather the experience of seeing them in the flesh in real-time, even if your tickets are not great, and you were in the nose bleeds the entire time, you were there and got to see it. Which is the same logic promoters are operating off of for these races.
Now back to the obvious,
Was the Fanfare with the introductions, at that moment, necessary? No. Honestly, it was just poor planning. The time to do something like that would have been at the drivers' parade or any other time other than race day, but it is interesting because so many people want the Fanfare to be around the race, big Sunday race day, which in America is more on par with NASCAR. Not saying that the race isn't one to have Fanfare over, but the race weekend technically starts on Thursday with the press, so there were potentially other opportunities to engage in Fanfare all weekend.
Now, will this backlash affect how other American races will go this year? Probably not. But I hope that in any event that it's just a lesson in what not to do on a race day, and hopefully, next year, we will get a different format.

For my I Don't Dance au... (picrew here)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ARTIST TOMURA x BASEBALL PLAYER TOUYA
What would you do if you —3th year captain of UA College baseball team— were challenge to a baseball match where if you lose, you'd have to play the leading role of a horror musical?
To anyone else, Tomura's proposal would sound like a joke. To Todoroki Touya, it means he gets to recruit a good pitcher to help him win the UA Plus Ultra Cup. If he can survive his past, it is...
Some specifics under the cut 'cause I love this au!
Endeavor here is a famous baseball player.
Touya was told he could not play baseball professionally due to how weak is his body in terms of genetics, but he found a way to get admitted at UA anyway.
Every year the MVP of the winner team of the college baseball league gets a chance to become a pro-player— that's what Touya is trying to do while his body can still take it.
Touya's burns are at minimum at the start of the au, but I promise they will be there by the end of it (spoilers? sorry)
Tomura actual challenge was on this terms: if Touya's team (the official UA team mind you) were to win, Tomura would join them as their pitcher (they desperately needed one to win that season); if Tomura's team was to win, it means Touya would have to play the starting role on Tomura's final project: a musical.
Why would Touya want an art student to be their pitcher? Why would Tomura want the captain of the baseball team to play the main role of his musical? What do they know?
On their match alone they broke the record of most college students attendance to an inner baseball game. It marked the start of one of the most famous prize seasons on the history of UA University.
Some context: every year at UA University, the top of the top studens of each course (be it Socials, Sports, Arts or Science) receive an award for going beyond the expectations. It's officially called the UA PLUS ULTRA CUP, but everyone knows it as prize season. Normally you get two chances (each of three months) to plan it: in spring or autumn. That's because most of the chances come with the semester final projects in winter and summer.
Touya's pushing the baseball team to win the prize season in Sports, while Tomura's trying to win it on Arts as one of the only 2th year students to direct a musical as solo director.
No one think they can actually do it, because Touya's body is too damaged and he's too old to made it to the big leagues, and Tomura is a visual artist made famous for his horror work, the type to make people debate a lot about if he is actually an artist or just an entertainer.
If you want a romantic cliché then I guess you could say they're childhood friends to barely strangers to teammates to friends to lovers. The rivalry thing has always been there and it will always be there, so...
Tomura is actually Tenko's artistic name, but the public doesn't know that. His identity is well kept by every authority involved. Why do they keep the Shimura last name in secret... Another thing I can't say.
There's background AFO but he is definitely not the main antagonist.
There's also Class 1A and pro-heroes material! It's a big au in that sense, so expect a lot of background names to be dropped and more ones to appear regularly.
Tomura's scars are there, but most students think it's makeup he does to scare them.
Touya hasn't talk with his family since he started attending UA High, which means he hasn't talked to them in almost 7 years. It's also 'cause Enji didn't want Natsuo or Fuyumi to attend UA High or UA University. Shouto's attending UA High tho.
Touya is yet to dye his hair black.
Tomura is yet go get his white hair.
I'm still not sure if this is a no quirks au...
