Prompt: Fictober: "I wouldn't do that if I were you."
Fandom: I'm The Grim Reaper
Summary: Brook is considering putting Lightstalker in his shirt for warmth.
Content Warnings: None that I can think of!
Words: 513
“What are you looking at?” Scarlet asked, watching Brook—he sat perfectly still, looking down at Lightstalker, who sat in his lap looking up at him with her wide, blue eyes. “It’s just Lightstalker.”
“Yeah…” Brook said, shifting a little bit. He pulled the bottom of his shirt out a little bit and moved it up and above her head. “She looks cold. Even with her sweater. She’s shivering…”
Chase leaned back from his chair, looking at the three sitting in the floor. “Are you trying to put her in your shirt?” He raised an eyebrow, his eyes and Brook’s now locked. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you. If that’s what you’re even doing.”
“She’s cold.”
“Get a blanket?” Scarlet said, turning her head to look at him.
“Hang on. She’s cold? You should’ve told me sooner, I have something perfect for this.” Chase said; he pushed himself up from his desk and practically made a beeline for the bedroom in his tiny apartment, leaving Brook, Chase, and Lightstalker sitting by his desk.
“What’s he doing?” Brook asked, moving his shirt away from Lightstalker and holding her close as he leaned closer to Scarlet. “I could’ve just kept her in my shirt.” He kept his voice low, his eyes on the door to the bedroom.
“He probably meant it would be a bad idea because of her claws.” Scarlet said, keeping her voice as close to a whisper as she could. “She’s pretty sharp, even when she doesn’t mean to be.”
Emerging from his room, Chase held a blue and black hoodie in his hand—it had a large pocket on the front, lined with what seemed to be fleece, and the hood was tipped with blue cat ears. “Try wearing this for her? She loves it.”
“… It looks stupid.” Brook said, taking the jacket held out to him. It’s soft… “Why would I wear this again?”
“So she doesn’t accidentally claw your bare stomach.” Chase said, sitting back down and tapping away at the keys on his computer. “Unless that just sounds ideal to you for some reason…”
“It doesn’t,” Brook said, his voice muffled as he wriggled the jacket on above his head. “So I just. Put her in the pouch.”
“Yup. It keeps her warm, plus, she settles really fast in it. Just straighten it out and put her in.”
“I got it.” Pulling the jacket down to cover his hips, Brook settled into the soft and warm fabric—he grazed his hand over the fleecy pocket at his stomach, pulled it out, and with his free hand, scooped Lightstalker up enough to move her into the pouch. “You said she liked this thing?”
“Loves it. I got it a couple of months ago. Right before we picked you up.”
Don’t say it like that. I decided to stay here… Brook thought, watching as Lightstalker started to knead the fabric of the sweater and eventually settle. She had burrowed as far into the pouch as she could, her endless purring still tangible against Brook.
“Oh.”
“Told you.”

Itgr is insane because it'll always have quieter periods that slow down a bit and can make me lose interesting and I'll be like "Oh yeah I'm sure this part of the story's good. It's just a bit slower but it's fine" AND THEN ILL DROP OFF FOR A BIT AND WHEN I COME BACK AND BINGE WHAT I MISSED? ITS SO FUCKING GOOD??? Oh my god. I know it's the weekly pacing that can kinda kill it for me (not the authors fault) but oh my god, every time it almost loses me. It fucking hooks me again. LIKE HOLY SHIT, I LOVE EVERETTE. SHES SO CUTE AND I LOVE THE FUCKING CONCEPT OF ALL OF SCARLETS OLD VICTIMS BECOMING ARCHREAPERS WITH THEIR OWN "DOMAINS" BASED ON THEIR SINS?? also just fucking. God. Scarlet dealing with the guilt and realisation that everyone she's ever killed probably wants her dead or harmed and that her actions, even if she was in a really shitty situation, still have consequences is so good. I love this

For the character bingo: ITGR Brook! 💖
Character Bingo
Tumblr media
He's actually the Most popular character just based off of what Graveweaver says dfgfdg I think it's a little funny that he originally wasn't supposed to be here as long as he has been, and another character was essentially going to have his place. But here we are. Also he's definitely done dirty by the fans sometimes--
as for "why does he look like that" i'm thinking of this:

this is my one of my fav itgr fics: https://archiveofourown.org/works/36688909. I mean theres a good chance you've read it considering how small the fandom is. (the other is the Recovery of a Lone Wolf series which, while it isn't one fic, is amazing)
I actually don't read a lot of fics! I only ever read them if they're directly handed to me--so I appreciate that you've handed me some!!
The first one is so soft!! V short, but like, really soft and warm to me.
Recovery of a Lone Wolf sounds like a really, really fun series, just based on it being Scarlet readjusting from her sentence? Honestly, like, just with everything she went through, how much she forgot, and the brief scene we saw of her and Chase going back over what she could remember, it'd be a really interesting thing to tackle/write about. And the author has done a lot.
Copying/Pasting the links just in case tumblr messes them up when I post this:

S&P boosts Integer Holdings’ outlook
Integer Holdings (NYSE:ITGR) said it has received a positive outlook and a reaffirmed B+ long-term issuer credit rating from Standard & Poor’s (S&P). The positive outlook, which was revised from stable, is based on Integer’s debt reduction and expected future targeted debt-to-adjusted EBITDA leverage ratio between 2.5X – 3.5X.
S&P also cited Plano, Texas-based Integer’s customer relationships, array of product offerings and competitive advantage as the industry consolidates its supplier base with larger medical device manufacturers. S&P also hinted at an upgrade if Integer demonstrates consistent long-term leverage in the targeted range.

Integer wins $22m in damages from AVX pacer patent spat retrial
Integer Holdings (NYSE:ITGR), formerly known as Greatbatch, has been awarded approximately $22.2 million in damages in the retrial of a pacer tech patent spat with AVX, down from a previous award of $37.5 million, according to recently released court documents.
Integer originally filed a patent infringement complaint in April 2013, alleging that AVX infringed on patents related to the filtered feedthrough assemblies used in its implantable pacers and cardioverter defibrillators.
Integer was awarded $37.5 million in damages from the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware in January 2016. In the earlier trial, the jury upheld the validity of 2 asserted patents, and 2 additional patents that AVX had challenged.
Three months later, AVX won a bid for reconsideration which vacated a previous summary judgement in Integer’s favor and paved the way for another trial re-exploring whether AVX intentionally infringed on certain Integer patents with its Ingenio FFT devices.
During the next trial, which took place in 2017, the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict as to whether the infringement from AVX’s Ingenio FFT devices was willful, according to court documents.
In response to the decision, AVX filed a motion for a new trial to assess damages that took into account the new court verdicts., which were granted in late March last year, according to court documents.
“In sum, because the $37.5 million damages award is based on the incorrect assumptions that all Ingenio FFTs infringe the ‘715 patent and that no non-infringing alternatives to the ‘715 and ‘627 patents exist, and because there is no way of knowing how the jury came to its lump sum award – basing its decision on a finding of infringement of one or a combination of the asserted patents and products – the award must be vacated and a new trial as to damages is necessary,” U.S. District Judge Leonard Stark wrote in court documents dated March 30, 2018. “Six factors weigh against enhancement (no deliberate copying, good faith belief of non-infringement, remedial action, short duration of infringement, closeness of case, and no motivation for harm), one factor weighs in favor of enhancement (attempt to conceal), and two factors are neutral (both parties were particularly litigious and AVX’s size and financial condition). Accordingly, the court concludes that an award of enhanced damages is not warranted. As the court has had two trials on the asserted patents and products and seen all of the evidence, it can make this finding even before a finding on willfulness.”
In the retrial, the court awarded Integer approximately $22.2 million in damages, according to court documents released this week.
The court granted approximately $10 million in damages for lost profits and sales related to infringement by AVX’s Frontier and Progeny devices, approximately $9.6 million for infringement by AVX’s Ingenio devices and approximately $2.5 million in damages for infringement by AVX’s NG3 devices, according to court documents.
