For the choose violence asks, 9 and 10 for Sonic
OK OK I ANSWER THIS NOW!!!!!! YIPPEE
9. Worst part of canon
Ok I'll be real here. I haven't gotten through too much Sonic media atm (slowly working my way through, was only dragged back into it like in november) so I don't really have much to go off of for this. However, game plots are canon. Obviously. So I will use this to complain about my biggest plot complaint in any Sonic game I've played yet.
Sonic Frontiers. Literally almost Everything about the ending was basically the devs throwing stuff at a wall until it sticked and called it a day (with the time developing the game and the dev team size? I don't blame them, I blame the higher ups. Doesn't mean I can't be disappointed with what could've been). But the thing I hate the most about the plot?
SONIC'S CYBER CORRUPTION. OH MY. I LITERALLY CAN'T.
They spent a significant amount of time (hell Rhea was all about it) building it up. Sonic getting worse as he progressed through the islands. It came up so much to the point of having a whole island's story beat dedicated to it, making it CLEARLY a VERY IMPORTANT thing.
AND THEN THEY RESOLVE IT WITHIN SECONDS!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? WHY.
Nothing at all? Just. Amy and Tails and Knuckles holding hands around him and for an unexplained reason going back to cyberspace and freeing him? Not only does it not make sense, but that is such a BAD RELEASE for plot tension!!!! You gotta drag it out!!! Slowly build up, then BOOM EXPLOSION!!!!!! and then the smoke fading from the explosion afterwards, but in plot format. If that makes sense. Even if they did something like a little cyberspace level where Sonic runs through a crimson red cyberspace with no rings + more than usual hazards, with little Amy/Tails/Knuckles themed things to help you get through it damageless, that'd be more satisfying than what they did. Literally what the hell. I hope that that was because of development hell and wasn't like that originally. Because if it was then I'll be in more Agony than before because WHAT THE HELL. WHY.
Oh yeah and also. Not really a thing I hate hate but. Not a fan of how Frontiers also made the IDW comics canon to the games via Sonic mentioning Tangle in a random voiceline that can happen or smth like that iirc. I feel like all the different canons (games, IDW, Prime, X, etc.) should be kept completely separate from each other yk. That's also a peeve I have with Prime, as much as I love it (even though I haven't finished S2 yet...). "Sonic Prime is part of the game canon" No it isn't ❤️
10. Worst part of fanon
If I'm honest. I don't really interact with the Sonic fandom as a whole the way I do with like. Monster Hunter and jjba and stuff. Only with my friends and a few select sonic blogs (thoam comic blog, starjoy, themetalvirus [egghog AU is VERY good], neurotypical-sonic, etc). But from what I've seen? Where would I begin.
I step 0.0038101 cm outside my typical Sonic group to look at new stuff and the likes and:
"He would not fucking say that" "He would not fucking do that" "She would not fucking do that you're just making her like that to get her out the way of your mlm ship" "Cool concept but they would not fucking act like that" "cool concept but there's nsfw" "Why are there so many werehog nsfw fics" "ok that's shipping sonic and tails. blocked" "he would not fucking do that" "damn the sonic/eggman shipping fanbase is surprisingly larger than what I expected" "He would not fucking say that" "absolutely insane fic of sonic getting everyone he knows into communism I never expected for actual communism theory to be in here but it's a crackfic so I'll let it slide just this once" "the ship dynamic is wrong they would not fucking act like that. They wouldn't even act like this in general"
There's only 2 people so far that I can 100% trust for good, in-character sonadow: Kirsten, and you. And even then Kirsten hasn't written too much for them (understandable) so it mostly falls onto you. You are my light in the darkness man. All of your Sonic fics are QUALITY. You get the characters. Your sonadow is fucking great. Like, you get them on a pretty damn intimate level. You can take their characters and put them in very different situations than usual (DNA Collision for example) and be able to show how they react to the situations and others, and how that'd affect things like relationships AND keep them in character the whole way! Also the way you like. Used sonadow and Tails' (understandable) reaction to Sonic forgetting about their plans and planning the date with Shadow over it to show the issues that'd eventually end up piling on top of each other and growing and festering until it would eventually turn Tails into the threat he is in the future. It's great for that too, you're not only writing them in character but you're also putting them into and applying them in very interesting situations! Relationships affect the people around them in many ways and I feel that (understandably) a lot of fics don't really show this. But you do and it's awesome. Impactful Skip is GREAT. And ofc the whole situation and having it be sonadow also creates a VERY interesting dynamic between Sonic and Shadow. Love that.
.....yeah ever get carried away. Yeah. That was just meant to be me talking about how you and Kirsten (mostly you bc you simply have more of it) are the only 2 people I can reliably find good sonadow from to show how Bad the state of fanon is when it comes to sonadow but it just turned into gushing about your fics. Got a little sidetracked from the violence and hate and turned to love. Hope you enjoyed the me loving your fics jumpscare 👍

(sorry, not for the ask game, and if you're like me your ask box is piled full of stuff you meant to reply to, so don't worry about replying to this one)
it occurred to me the other day that i think about eucatastrophe a lot. a lot. nearly too much. every time i feel a plot spinning out of my control, cosmic semi-eldritch horror gets stuck in there even if it's a little silly. furthermore, everything i write now, i think of the shape of a story, and what i'm telling, and how it might fare as feed.
i guess what i'm trying to say is that you've made things that made me want to make things. it's mostly crackfic (that's half a lie. Real Shit always sneaks in there somehow) but i love writing, i think. and what i've written has made other people laugh, which is bonkers. you are an epicenter, however tiny, of wonderful things, too. your actions have greater and lovelier impacts than you could ever know. thank you for sharing, friend. it's done a lot.
Let's be honest, here: 'crackfic' just means it has a premise that's absurd or surprising or just plain weird. just because it's crackfic doesn't mean it can't hit emotional beats as hard as any story with a basic, normal premise. And in some ways I'd argue that stories with absurdist premises can hit those emotional beats harder than ones with regular premises, because by opening up a crackfic you're in some way agreeing to buy into the absurdity, and in that way you're less prepared when a Fighting Fist Full Of Pure Angst comes flying in from stage right to slam you right across the face.
Which is only tangentially relevant to what you just said, I just felt like it needed saying. Anyway. It's so bizarre to know that so many people who I'll likely never meet or recognize in real life have been affected by the things I've spent many late nights working on. People have laughed out loud because of things I wrote, people have cried over my stories, and they live on the other side of the damn world! That's absurd. That's wonderful. It makes it all worth it. The subplot in Eucatastrophe about eating a story being just as filling and fulfilling as eating a universe really isn't that subtle a metaphor, is it? Maybe I wasn't perfectly aware of how on-the-nose it was when I wrote it, but I think I knew exactly what I'm doing.
Thank you for telling me what it means to you. It means a lot to me.

20 Questions for Fic Writers!
tagged by @andthebubbles; an honor and a privilege, truly
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
14
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
80,647 words
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Bridgerton. I used to write Marvel and Good Omens.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Interdependence (Good Omens, 546 kudos)
To Tell the Truth (Bridgerton, 220 kudos)
Overcome (Bridgerton, 175 kudos)
Running Toward Running Away (Bridgerton, 145 kudos)
Hard to Handle (Marvel, 76 kudos; the fact that this unfinished rare pair crackfic is beating my Bridgerton magnum opus is so ridiculous, but it is horny af and has been out there for 5 years, so that's fair enough)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes, I try to get to every comment. I have been fortunate to receive very lovely comments. I appreciate them and want people to continue to talk to me about whether my work had the kind of impact I thought it would, or if something different happened! I crave validation and others who will squee with me.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
The Bustle in a House (Bridgerton), no competition. I really did that to him.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I have a couple, shockingly. Doing the Voices is fluffy and adorable overall, so naturally very happy in the end.
Recently, To Tell the Truth got its happily ever after! I didn't think it was going to work, but it really worked.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Fortunately not. The most troubling comments so far have been people reacting to some of my most depressing fics with "This is interesting." which is true, and thank you, but it still feels like a read LOL.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes. I don't have that much posted, except for a bad example I wrote as a youngster, but I'm very proud of the smut I'm currently writing. I like writing what I'd give a Mature rating on AO3 and which centers around an established relationship, even if they're still working on establishing their sexual dynamic. I like to write smut that is sweet, honest, and sprinkles in a good bit of humor.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
About ten years ago, I wrote a Deadpool, Spider-Man, Avengers family fic thing? That doesn't count, does it. It's Marvel; it's all crossovers.
Once, briefly, I wrote a couple scenes of a Good Omens/Marvel RP crossover with a couple of my friend's OCs? I don't really write crossovers is what I'm saying.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I hope not.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I know of, but the idea makes me happy.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Does roleplaying count? Then yes. I spent a long time in the RP world and then just roleplaying with a friend after that.
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
Um. UM. UH. I want to say Kathony, even though...it's not? I don't think of it much anymore, but for yeeeears I was writing/roleplaying Bruce Banner/Steve Rogers, and before that it was Bruce Banner/Tony Stark. They built lives together! There were furbabies! Almost actual babies!
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have many. There's a Bridgerton fic about Simon and Daphne repairing their relationship that's actually really beautiful but I..........listen, if I can get my brain to stop staring at Kathony and specifically Anthony, I'll let the world know.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Characterization, relationships, domesticity, and poetic writing. I choose my words and sentences intentionally. My maxim for writing is basically, what are the words that need to be in this story? It's not specifically about just making things short or pithy or metaphorically resonant, although I obviously enjoy those things, but for me it's about getting to the heart of the thing I'm trying to write and writing whatever that is.
Also I like to make things occasionally funny!
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I'm working on writing plots! And maybe writing setting descriptions, but unless it's a detail relevant to the story, you're probably just gonna have to fill in the blanks yourself.
My real weakness is character construction vs reconstruction. Basically, if I can hear the character's voice, I can write them. So, I tend to gravitate toward the leads of a show or book because they're the easiest to hear in my head. If you give me your favorite little side character with all of his six lines of dialogue and I don't get him? I'm going to struggle. But I'm working on it! I got baby!Gregory and older!Benedict successfully constructed in their respective fics, I think, but of course I'm still actually writing about Anthony. ;)
I am also working on writing a story that isn't a fic, so this is really the goal.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
As someone who ought to be a polyglot but is like, barely literate in the other languages I've learned, I don't mind writers working and playing with language, but I have vivid memories of someone fucking up writing a bilingual character that made me laugh for hours. Maybe...just...do a little research first if speaking another language or being around people who speak a different language is not something you've personally experienced.
I also don't want to be confused as a reader. Like, when the subtitles in a movie say [speaking other language], I my brain goes off in an entirely different direction and now I'm thinking about language and accessibility and colonialism and the purpose of dialogue in media...
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Marvel. Specifically after watching Iron Man 3.
No, wait!!! Is To Kill a Mockingbird a fandom? I was fourteen and I had to write a fanfic for class, and then I had to read it aloud to the class and the fic was gay because of course it was and... anyway, I reread it recently, and it was actually pretty okay!
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Of the fics that I've posted, I'd still have to say The Bustle in a House. There are things I'd change with a rewrite, and I like my fics for different reasons, but that story hits an emotional depth for me and I worked hard on it. I printed it out and physically arranged the pages on the floor. I hung easel paper on the walls. I was pulling from Richard II, I was pulling from articles about grief, I was researching the historical origins of idioms, and, all in all, it turned out really beautiful in the end.
I would tag people if I wasn't such a hermit in fandoms...just steal this post and we can pretend I tagged you.

saw your post in the tags... I'd love to read about Peter explaining smartphones, twitter, Instagram, etc. to Thomas Nightingale
‘And how is Beverley?’ asked Nightingale.
‘She’s glowing,’ I said, ‘but don’t change the subject.’
Nightingale shook his head. ‘Peter, I don’t want you to think I don’t appreciate the efforts you’ve gone to to reach out to the, uh, wider community.’
‘Thank you,’ I said, politely ignoring the way he’d said the C-word. After all, it was the product of lack of use rather than any disdain for the concept; the fact that he was entertaining me right now was proof of that.
‘I’m just not sure that my competencies extend to social media maven.’
‘We all have to start somewhere,’ I said gamely. ‘It’s good to learn new skills. Helps us to teach things to others, in turn.’
Nightingale arched an eyebrow at me.
‘Yes, well,’ I said. ‘Shall we go back over these again? What do you remember?’
Nightingale sighed. ‘That one with the bird is for text updates,’ he said, pointing at the blue-and-white icon. ‘Oh – where has it gone?’
‘You’ve, uh, deleted it from the home screen,’ I said. ‘Hang on, I just have to drag it up from the rest of the apps again…’ I handed the smartphone back to him. ‘Ok. Try and post something…’
He successfully found the icon to start a new Tweet. I was further encouraged when he began to type – albeit a little slowly, with just the one finger. Then-
‘It’s gone,’ said Nightingale, frowning. ‘I was typing, then it vanished…’
I retrieved the smartphone from him and studied our Twitter feed. I read the most recent entry:
HELL
‘I was trying to say hello,’ said Nightingale.
‘I think you sent it a little prematurely,’ I said, deleting it.
‘It’s the screen,’ said Nightingale with a small sigh. ‘I’m awful at typing with nothing solid to type against. My fingers slip. But I suppose it’s just practice.’
‘Maybe we can employ Molly to be our social media officer while I’m on paternity leave,’ I mused. ‘After all, she’s got a lot of experience.’
Nightingale smiled. ‘I don’t think so,’ he said. ‘She has so few things that are hers, and that aren’t connected to the Folly. I’m sure she’d be wonderful at it, but I can’t help but feel it would be an imposition in some way.’
He’s deceptively thoughtful, my boss. It’s understated, but I’m reminded of it on occasion, and his protectiveness of Molly in that moment was moving – or perhaps fatherhood is making me sentimental. I sidestepped the thought, adding, ‘There’s always Abigail…’
Nightingale gave me a look.
‘I’m joking,’ I said. ‘She’s legally too young to be employed by the Met, anyway.’
‘Joking aside,’ said Nightingale, ‘Abigail has, in fact, offered to help me with any technical queries I might have in your absence. I shan’t be offloading responsibility for the accounts, but I’m sure the moral support and coaching she’s offered will be invaluable.’
‘Yes,’ I said. ‘That’s… good.’ I couldn’t help feeling a certain amount of suspicion, but then, it’s an occupational hazard, and a bad habit Beverley is trying to get me to shake. So I said nothing, and we moved on.
‘So, the pink one – that’s for photographs?’
One month later…
Movement. Something was shaking the bed. It was… confusing. While my sleep-fogged brain was cycling through questions like ‘is that an explosion?’ and ‘how big can earthquakes get in the UK?’ and ‘is the grab-bag ready?’, my consciousness eventually surfaced and I came to the realisation that the shaking was Beverley, next to me in bed.
I was very quickly awake.
‘Are you okay?’
She turned over, and I was relieved, and not a little confused, to realise that she was laughing – an honest-to-goodness full-body fit of hysterics.
‘Oh, Peter, I’m sorry!’ she said, tears rolling down her cheeks. ‘It’s just… I’ve just fed her, and I couldn’t get back to sleep, so I was checking my feeds, and…’ she collapsed into laughter again, and thrust her phone screen in my face.
It was painfully bright in the darkness of the room, but once my eyes adjusted to the glare I could see…
I watched the TikTok video, then watched it again, but still couldn’t quite take in what I was seeing. ‘Is that…’
‘Yes!’
‘But what’s he…’
‘Some weird dance from the twenties, apparently,’ she said, wiping her eyes.
There were thousands of hits, and the counter was climbing as I watched.
‘He’s become a proper legend,’ said Bev. ‘Look how many followers he has. It’s boosting the Folly’s Twitter account, too, look…’
I looked, and it had. Considerably. I watched the video again, and sighed.
‘Remind me to have a discussion with Abigail tomorrow,’ I said. ‘Otherwise I’m going to wake up and think I’ve dreamt this.’
My last thought as I drifted back to sleep was to be impressed. When Nightingale says he’ll do something, he never gives it anything less than his all.

Oneshot #2: Three times someone checked out Darcy’s ass and the one time he didn’t mind it
Description: A crackfic based on this post I made a few days ago. Basically what it says in the title and it plays during the canon era. The main pairing is BillDarcy.
words: 1645
A/N: To be honest, I don’t even know what this is, I just suddenly had this idea yesterday when I originally wanted to write the little idea for a Jojo/Elmer-Oneshot I have in my head. But hey, if there are things I’m good at, it’s procrastinating and doing things wrong, so here we are. As always, it’s possible that there are mistakes regarding grammar and spelling (I checked for them but since English isn’t my first language I might have forgotten something). It would be nice if you left a comment.
I hope you enjoy,
Sincerely, me,
Lélodie
—–
I.
Darcy hated puberty. Pimples were scattered all over his face and a few days ago, his mother had helped him trying to figure out how to shave his face without cutting himself. Still, there were some leftovers of an incision on one of his cheeks.
The worst thing was that he hadn’t even had something that he could have called a ‘beard’. But he had overheard some of his classmates talking about the positive effect of having a beard – looking more mature and therefore having a better chance with the ladies they wanted to court. Darcy himself didn’t want to court a lady, yet he always wanted to look more mature so that his father might stop treating him a like little child. So, after a lot of insistence on his part, his mother had helped him with the soft hairs over his upper lip and on the sides of his face and he regretted it.
He was attending some important event, where all the influential persons in the world of newspapers were gathered. And he was there with a bright red face, full of signs of imperfections.
“Look at that fancy new suit! Darcy, puberty’s starting to grow on you.”
Startled, Darcy turned around and was promptly hugged by one of his best childhood friends, Katherine Pulitzer. “Kathy, I’m glad you could make it,” he said, quickly hugging her back.
Katherine freed herself from the embrace. “I couldn’t leave you guys alone with all these people now, could I? But back to what I said, when did your ass get this gorgeous? Or is it just the suit?”
Darcy choked on his own spit. He was always surprised by Katherine’s bluntness. A blush spread out over his whole face as he truly realised what she had said and he made an embarrassed sound. “My ass is the same as always, thank you very much. The only thing that’s changing is the constellations of pimples on my face.” He grimaced.
“Uh, how poetic. Maybe you want to write my next article, then I’ll have a lot more free time.”
“Kathy, I’m having a serious problem here.” Darcy threw a glance at the people surrounding them, making sure they were out of earshot. Then, he whispered, “How can I face Bill when my face looks like I’ve been burned by the sun, over and over again?”
Katherine was the only one who knew of his infatuation with Bill – his other childhood friend. She had also been the one who had helped him overcoming his long phase of self-hatred because he was falling in love with another boy. At first, there had been all these thoughts like: “It’s wrong. Two boys can’t love each other.” But when Katherine had told him that she as well did like people the same gender as hers, he had felt a lot better. He wasn’t the only one. He wasn’t hurting anyone. So why should he be ashamed of who he loved?
“Don’t worry, Darce. I think it looks cute. And if he doesn’t like it, you can always show him your ass.” Katherine winked.
Again, Darcy blushed. “What’s it with you and my… butt?”
Katherine just shrugged inscrutably and led him to the buffet.
When they met Bill, he didn’t mention the pimples. He also didn’t mention that Darcy’s suit was apparently too tight around his ass. He had only brought life to the butterflies in Darcy’s stomach when he had constantly readjusted Darcy’s glasses and therefore brushed his skin from time to time.
II.
A soft breeze was caressing Darcy’s hair as he and Katherine wandered along the streets of New York, arm in arm. Katherine was going on about some vaudeville show she had to review that night, until they came across the Newsboys’ lodging house. A smile appeared on her face as they watched some kids dancing around, presumably on their way to the circulation gate. Darcy knew how she admired these kids that had nothing and still seemed to be so happy to at least have each other.
Since the kids weren’t walking really fast, Katherine and Darcy caught up with them and Darcy rolled his eyes as one of the boys started flirting with Katherine. It was always like this. Katherine was a beautiful girl and therefore, she caught the attention of many boys on the street. But only some of them mustered up the courage to actually speak to her.
Trying to suppress a sigh, Darcy let his gaze wander and couldn’t help but notice some boys passing them while the presumable leader flirted with Katherine. He blinked. Had he just imagined it or were two of the boys checking him out? He lowered his head, not daring to look back at them and not really listening to Katherine’s conversation.
He took a deep breath, fiddled with his hands and eventually glanced back at the two boys he had noticed. He nearly let out a surprised gasp as he caught one of the boys checking out his ass once again. A blush crept up his neck. The boy noticed him looking back and winked.
Darcy had never been more glad of Katherine taking control than in this moment. Oblivious to Darcy’s own problem, she grabbed his arm tighter and led him away from the newsies.
He took another deep breath. Had the boy been flirting with him? Darcy couldn’t handle people flirting with him. The only exception was Bill but that didn’t really count, considering that Bill was his lover. Which Darcy still couldn’t quite believe. He and Bill were a thing. Bill had been the one to take the first step, turning a little moment of them cuddling into a sweet, intoxicating kiss.
Darcy smiled and it didn’t take long for him to forget the incident with the newsies.
III.
Apparently, people did have a thing for his butt. That was the conclusion Darcy came to when he was ready cleaning the printing press and went to put on his coat. Bill had already left the cellar, presumably talking with Katherine and Jack outside.
He hadn’t meant to eavesdrop but he couldn’t help but hear two voices, a few feet away, seemingly not noticing his presence.
“… yeah, but one of 'em definitely had a stick up his ass.” The heavy Brooklyn accent in this voice was obvious and Darcy suspected that the boy talking was that Spot Conlon that every single newsie seemed to either fear or respect.
“Obviously. He’s refused ta shake Jack’s hand when he’d spit on it,” the other person laughed. It was also a boy but Darcy couldn’t quite place who the voice belonged to.
Was he talking about Darcy? It would make sense, considering that Spot had talked about two people specifically and he and Bill were the odd ones out (Katherine didn’t count since she had already been involved in the strike before they had been printing the banner tonight). Suddenly, Darcy felt offended. Just because he had manners didn’t mean that he was uptight.
“But you have to admit, it’s a pretty nice ass,” the person whose voice Darcy didn’t recognize answered.
It took Darcy all strength he could muster up not to cough and make his presence known. That would be even weirder than only hearing people talk about his ass. He hurried with putting on his coat, while contemplating listening a little more. Of course he was embarrassed but he kind of wanted to know what else the boys had to say.
“You’s right, Race.” A pause. “But do ya know who also has a great ass?”
Alright, that was Darcy’s cue to leave.
+ IV.
“I can’t believe you!” Darcy exclaimed while Bill only laughed more and more. He sighed. “I shouldn’t have told you, I knew it.”
“I am sorry, I did not mean to offend you, Darce, but that’s just too funny,” Bill said, letting his fingers run over Darcy’s arm, yet not even trying to suppress his laughter. “Why did I never notice that your butt is apparently so interesting?”
“I hate you,” Darcy retorted, crossing his arms in front of his chest, all the while trying to come up with a convincing pout.
Bill stopped laughing at that but the smirk didn’t leave his face. “No, you don’t.” His voice was soft and he moved closer to his lover. “Do you want to know what makes you the most handsome in my opinion?”
Darcy threw him a sceptical glance and let his arms fall to his side again. “What is it?”
“Your nose.”
“My nose?” Darcy let out a small laugh. “Seriously?”
“Well, it is,” Bill replied and shoved him lightly. “Especially when you’re wearing your glasses.” He raised his hand and started to trace the rim of Darcy’s glasses, gently, as if he was afraid of breaking them. Darcy’s breath hitched. “Shoving your smartness in everyone’s faces.”
“Glasses don’t make people smart.” Darcy remembered the time he thought that he would seem more mature when he acted as if he indeed had a real beard. In retrospect, he nearly laughed at that.
“But they make people look smart. And smart people are very, very attractive.” To prove his former point, Bill planted a short kiss on Darcy’s nose.
Darcy smiled. Then he leaned back a bit and took off his glasses. “But what happens when I stop wearing my glasses and don’t look smart any more?” He teased.
Bill made a face like he was thinking about something real intensely. Eventually, he embraced Darcy and smirked. “Then you still got your ass to show off,” he whispered, letting his hands wander lower and lower over Darcy’s back.
For once, Darcy didn’t mind someone paying attention to his butt.

For WIP game: Balloons!
So this is based on a random prompt a friend gave me, and is entirely a crackfic in it’s current form (although now that I reread it, I realize there could be darker implications but this is a crackfic I swear). So much so that it makes about zero sense, so if I ever post it it’s going to need to be almost completely reworked. But it still amuses me and probably only me. Basically Johnny is either on drugs or has some sort of balloon popping fetish, I’m not entirely sure which.
Here’s the most interesting bit:
“The crack of a balloon popping brought Roy out of his thoughts, as he heard Chet complaining about having to start over with blowing up another. He shook his head, making the maybe not wise, decision to locate his missing in action partner. After all, if Johnny wasn't feeling well, he might need medical attention, and at the moment it definitely beat blowing up balloons.
Fortunately, it didn't take long for Roy to locate the dark haired man. For there sitting on his bunk, was the man in question, a pillow in his lap.
"Hey, Johnny," Roy approached him slowly as he quickly studied the man. "Are you alright?"
Under Roy's practiced eye, Johnny looked mostly alright, but there was definitely something wrong. If it wasn't for how quiet the man was, the tell-tale grimace he wore as he held the pillow told him all that he needed to know.
"I'm fine, I'm fine," Johnny said, not meeting Roy's gaze. "I just can't be out there right now."
"I don't understand. You're the one who got us into this, Johnny. You should be out there helping."
"I know, I know," Johnny ran a hand through his dark hair nervously.
"So what's the problem?"
"Balloons," Johnny said simply. As if that explained everything.
"Balloons?" Roy asked. "What do balloons have to do with anything?"
Johnny sighed, slow and long. "I can't explain it, Roy. There's just something… Look, I just can't be around while you're blowing them up."
"I don't understand. What's so bad about blowing up balloons?" Roy was honest to God baffled. Johnny was strange at the best of times, but now he suddenly had some crazy aversion to balloons?
"Just like I said, I can't explain it. I just can't be in there right now, okay?" His look was pleading and it made Roy frown as unexpected emotions rose to the surface.
"Alright Johnny. I think they're finished blowing them up anyway."
Johnny let out another deep breath and said something that sounded suspiciously like 'Thank God' before leaping out of his bunk.
"What's next?" Johnny asked Roy as they made their way into the kitchen. "Oh no…"
Johnny suddenly froze at the sound of a balloon popping, as Chet's laughter seemed to carry through the station.
"Johnny?" Roy studied his partner. He hadn't moved a muscle, his face slowly draining of color. His hands seemed to shake, as if he were trying to control some unexpected emotion Chet had set off with the balloon popping.
Balloon? Roy thought about the conversation they'd just had. "You don't like balloons popping, do you?"
Johnny's whole body seemed to tremble. "That's not the problem..."
"I don't understand." Roy once again found himself saying. "Then why are you so upset?"
"Like I said, I can't explain it..."
"Johnny Boy, it's okay to admit you're a sissy who gets scared by balloons. After all, Roy's 4 year old daughter does too. Maybe you and her would have a lot to talk about." Chet mocked, unaware of the strong emotions his coworker was currently trying to keep at bay.”
Like I said, it makes zero sense and is probably amusing only to me.

Writing News
Let me tell you where things are going beneath the cut!
I’m asking opinions, so if you read my fics, please read on and give me your thoughts <3
Four Years
Three chapters of written material remain, so the update schedule should look something like this:
4/25, 5/9, 5/23
This is a rough estimate, and it assumes nothing gets pushed back, but you get the idea.
The Shauna arc and the beginning of Amy and Izzy’s Adventures in Therapy remains.  After that, I’m out of pre-written material for Four Years.  When I resume writing for Four Years, Amy and Izzy will shift to the background for most of sophomore year- the idea is that their focus is on school and therapy, and they don’t have much time or energy leftover.  They’ll still be there, they just won’t be driving any plots/shenanigans.
SO IT WILL BE A PERFECT TIME FOR THE OTHERS, especially...  I’m thinking Tai, Hana, and Sora.
BUT!  After these last three chapters, I will be switching projects for a while...
Tri: Integrity Lens
I’ve got about 19,000 words of Ketsui content written.  After I post the next three chapters of FY, I will complete the Ketsui arc and post a chapter every other week (or at least try to, lol!).  This is too far out for me to know specifics, but you get the idea!
After that- and I have no idea how long it will take- I will swap back to FY.  I really want to know what Tai is up to in FY, so it’s possible that I won’t be 100% rigid about only posting TIL until I finish Ketsui.
Other Projects
Have I mentioned that I have a bit of some Tales of Rem written?  Specifically, I have a chunk of The Choked Tree and The Academy written.
Here’s the thing, though.  These dream-based fics are... wildly AU.  I’ve been wondering if I should post them- do they even count as fanfic when they’re so... off the wall?  To be honest, too, I had mixed reception for the only dream-based fic I’ve posted (A Debtor’s Hell).  I tend to write earnest, heartfelt stories, so I think this ridiculous crackfic really threw some readers, despite my warnings.  (Unrelated, but I was also terrified at the time that I had offended folks who crossdress- happily, it turned out that my crossdressing readers enjoyed it).
Basically, I’m wondering what I should do with these pieces.  What do you think?  Should I complete and post them, and just be upfront with my warnings (wildly AU, dream based, etc).  Maybe I should just... turn them into original short stories/novellas?  Not sure about that- they’re more fragments than full-fledged stories, although The Choked Tree is getting long, if I’m honest.  It kind of reminds me of Insurgence- the stories are just too AU to garner much interest.
What do you think?  And do any Tales of REM sound particularly interesting to you?

'You're so tense' THE HARLOTS AU. Sir Lewis Nixon, and his current favourite harlot Eileen/Nancy Birch 😆 Juno xx
Okay, so, for those of you following along at home, this prompt is going to make exactly zero sense because this was yet another crackfic idea conceived in the dark womb of the Discord server, basically following the premise of “Girl Gang + Harlots” because, as it says on the door, “Bespoke Nerdy Historical AUs a Specialty.” And because @majwinters and @junojelli are great enablers.
So, um, Eileen and Lew! It’s a Harlots crossover, so...yeah, there’s some sex.
---
Objects of Desire, Harris’s List advises, come fit for many tastes. Some ask for sweetness, softness and ease, and these are readily found. But for those of more...exotic tastes, the list becomes a little shorter, the entries on the List increasingly less direct.
For those requiring a strong whip hand, look no further than Black Eileen, who'll take a man to the post and back. A Irishwoman of some family and elegance, she keeps no house but takes her trade where it's required...
And today she could be found in the townhouse of one very hot and bothered baronet, presently tied to his bed and being ushered into the loud heights of pleasure by the tail end of her riding crop and the woman herself, astride him like a queen.
“God, you were tense,” she said when the deed and the man were finished, sitting back with a flushed grin and surveying her handiwork for a moment before loosening the silks that held him fast to the frame of his bed.  “Now, what's got my handsome stallion hot and lathered at the gate? Bailiffs after you again?”
Sir Lewis flexed his wrists and shook his head, climbing out of bed to pour himself a glass of wine, letting Eileen admire her handiwork, and his arse, for a moment. (A consummate horseman, Sir Lewis Nixon - none of your thickening middle age here. Fighting trim and beautiful for it.)  “Nothing like that, my credit’s quite good at the moment. No, something...something else. How are you fixed for friends in Golden Square?”
Eileen accepted her glass of wine and looked at him with interest over its rim. “You've friends of your own in Golden Square. What do you want with mine?”
“Well, yes,” Lewis allowed, sitting back down, “But I've friends of one kind and you've friends of another, and I have need of yours.” Eileen gestured for him to go on, and he considered his next words carefully. “I need...an introduction. Not for me,” He added, as she made a face. “For Dick.”
Whatever she’d been expecting, it wasn’t that, and she laughed. “Your Quaker with the fine legs and the firey hair? Hark at him, I would have thought him sober as a judge. They do always say it's the quiet ones.” She took a swig of her wine and got comfortable, her interest piqued. “Well, what filly's he taken a fancy to? Which one of Lady Columbia's beauties is making his balls turn blue? Arabella? Colette? Athenais? He looks like he'd like the fainting type - or a Frenchie.”
Lewis shook his head, the answer just as amusing to him as he knew it would be to Eileen. “The Amazon.”
She nearly fell off the bed laughing. “Lord, no, spare me. You're telling me your Quaker is hot for Lovely Joan? Are you looking for another beating, Lewis? Sell me another." But Lewis only shook his head, and she stared.  "God, you're serious."
“As a honest man in Parliament.  Eileen, he is besotted.”
“So are half the men in London,” Eileen replied tartly. “The ones who aren't already mad after Charlotte Wells! He knows, I hope, that she's a whore?”
“I have already informed him thus; he has taken it in stride and endeavored not to speak of it again - but I've never seen that man look at a woman twice and he stared as though she'd just invented the sun, so I intend to get her for him.” Lewis sat back into his pillows like a potentate and let Eileen consider the field. Her particular brand of pleasure took her all over London, the houses of the rich and the undercrofts of the poor, and there was call enough for her in Golden Square - especially if there was a cull looking to get hard seeing two girls fight. Brawling doxies were ten a penny in Covent Garden - but Lady Columbia’s entertainments had a touch of class - a word in the right ears could get you a ticket to the walls of Troy, and see Penthesilia die on Achilles’ spear, and enough coin in your purse could get the Amazon herself in your bed, booted and helmeted, if you desired her thus.  Not many knew that before she’d flown up to Golden Square, the Amazon had been Joan, who’d kept rooms with Eileen when the two were new in the trade. And fewer still knew that at the end of an evening spent hitting each other, the two women were as fast of friends as you could hope to find.
“So you want me to go and pimp for you, is that it?” Eileen asked, still sipping at her wine, obviously intrigued by the prospect.
“You've got her ear. He can't pay, but his spear would put the entire Trojan army to shame - I lived with the man, I know. And you yourself just said he's a fine enough face to go with it.”
“Fine, yes, I will grant that, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard him say five words together. Is he simple? You college boys usually are. She likes her men witty.”
Lewis considered this. “Well, if I am witty, then he is wise, and of the two of us he has the better bargain for it.”
“Not much call for wise men in Golden Square. She may be interested. She rides in St James' on Tuesdays with Lord Leicester. Sometimes I play her groom. Have him in the park and I’ll point him out to her. Can I invent a story?” she asked, her eyes alight with possibility, the actress in her stirring with delight. “Raised in a monastery away from women? An icy virgin shaking now in the chains of chastity?”
Lewis’ smile said he liked the idea, tapping his finger on his glass. “Tell her...tell her he took a vow of celibacy when he was away on studies in Italy and is in agony about breaking it now for her.”
She grinned, loving it. “Delicious. Been in Lady Katherine’s novels again?”
“Anything to keep her from boring me to death after dinner,” he replied.

All flower asks for Cimmerian.
Cimmerian:
O-oh jeez, that’s...a lot of questions, huh? Well, better let’s get to it then.
Alisons: Sexuality?
I’m polysexual.
Amaranth: Pronouns/Gender?
Trans man. He/him pronouns, please.
Amaryllis: Birthday?
December 1st. I’m a winter baby.
Anemone: Favorite flower?
Uhm, sunflowers, probably.
Angelonia: Favorite t.v. show?
If I have to be honest, I don’t really...watch TV all that often. But uh, anything they air on Animal Planet, to be honest. Do you remember that old TV show about the life of meerkats? Fucking loved that shit.
Arum-Lily: What’s the farthest you’d go for a stranger?
That...really depends. I wouldn’t go too far, after all, I don’t know this person, but basic respect and kindness are always a given. I’m not a hero either, I wouldn’t risk my life for them. So, I’d say most of the time, just small favours.
Aster: What’s one of your favorite quotes?
Literally fucking anything that leaves Vincent’s mouth once he gets a little tipsy, this man lacks filter when drunk and it’s fucking great. I know you probably expected some quote with deep meaning, since I have a major in English, but I am very sorry to disappoint.
Aubrieta: Favorite drink?
Pain drink is going to be Whiskey, but anything a little bit fancier then it’s Pina Colada. I like sweet things.
Baby’s Breath: Would you kiss the last person you kissed again?
Yes, absolutely, zero hesitation.
Balsam Fir: Have you ever been in love?
Hm...unfortunately...
Baneberries: Favorite song?
........Two Trucks by Lemon demon. Don’t judge me, it’s a fucking great song.
Basket of Gold: Describe your family.
Hm, well, they were great, really. Very caring and loving...Yeah, this question is making me feel sad.
Beebalm: Do you have a best friend? Who is it?
Uhhh...I’m gonna say it’s either North, Tiff, Han or Bright. I’d say Foster too, but...I don’t know, we kind of had a falling out because of our work. It’s hard to meet up.
Begonia: Favorite color?
...I’ll give you one guess.
Bellflower: Favorite animal?
Toads, love these fat boys.
Bergenia: Are you a morning or night person?
Definitely morning. Not that I like waking up early, but I definitely function better in the mornings.
Black-Eyed Susan: If you could be any animal for a day, what would it be?
A hognose snake, they have very cute noses.
Bloodroots: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A teacher, of all things. Mostly because I thought teachers got free summer too. Then I went to high school, saw what little shits my peers were, and immediately changed my decision.
Bluemink: What are your thoughts on children?
I love kids! I always wanted to be a father. Unfortunately, with being nearly 40 now and swarmed with work...I don’t think that’ll ever happen.
Blazing Stars: What are you afraid of? Is there a reason why?
Cars, because of trauma that I’d rather not get into. And, uh...I have apeirophobia. It’s...stupid, I know, many people would probably like to live on for forever. But for me, it’s just...it’s horrible. I don’t even know why. I guess it has something to do with existential dread.
Borage: Give a random fact about your childhood.
I had a lot of adoptive siblings and cousins, we were always close, and would always get into trouble together. I was raised on a farm with woods nearby, you can imagine I had a lot of opportunities and places where I could get hurt at, and I did. I was a stupid and reckless kid.
Bugleherb: How would you spend your last day on Earth?
Oh man, that’s a loaded question...Honestly? I’d like to reach out to my family, spend my last day with them.
Buttercup: Relationship Status?
Taken~ By two wonderful, cute men.
Camelia: If you could visit anywhere, where would you want to go?
Oh, there’s a lot of places I’d like to explore, probably too many to list. As long as it’s as far away from civilisation as possible, I’m good.
Candytufts: When do you feel most loved?
I like to be held, I love hugs, they make me feel safe and loved. Preferably under a warm blanket with my partner or partners, late in the evening, the rain falling outside and the room is nearly completely dark as we cuddle...
Canna: Do you have any tattoos?
I used to want to, as a teen, but unfortunately no...I did see some people tattoo over their burn scars, and I’ve been thinking about it, but considering how large my scars are it’d cost a lot, be very time consuming and most likely painful. So I don’t know, but I’m considering it.
Canterbury Bells: Do you have any piercings?
Used to have a few as a teenager, now I only have one in my right ear.
California Poppy: Height?
I’m 5′9′’.
Cardinal Flower: Do you believe in ghosts?
In ghosts? No, not really.
Carnation: What are you currently wearing?
I’ll let you guess.
Catnip: Have you ever slept with a nightlight?
Sure did, I still sometimes do when my nightmares get the best of me.
Chives: Who was the last person you hugged?
Jackie.
Chrysanthemum: Who’s the last person you kissed?
Northy, obviously~
Cock’s Comb: Favorite font?
My heart tells me Comic Sans, but my brain’s telling me to shut the fuck up and pick a normal font.
Columbine: Are you tired?
Always, 24/7.
Common Boneset: What are you looking forward to?
Autumn, we’re close to Summer and god damn it didn’t even start but I’m already over it.
Coneflower: Dream job?
I’m pretty content with my current one, but uh...maybe something less stressful? Probably a book author.
Crane’s-Bill: Introvert or extrovert?
Introvert, definitely.
Crown Imperial: What’s the farthest you would go for someone you care about?
Honestly? I’d probably give my life to them. It mostly depends on the person though, and how much I care about them.
Cyclamen: Did you have a favorite stuffed animal as a child? What was it?
I had a ragdoll elephant named Mr Trunk. Still do, actually, he’s one of the few things I took with me when I started working here. He’s now sitting on my bookcase at my apartment.
Daffodil: What’s your zodiac sign?
Sagittarius.
Dahlia: Have you done anything worth remembering?
I don’t think so, no.
Daisy: What do you feel is your greatest accomplishment?
Well...I guess overcoming my trauma counts as an accomplishment?
Daylily: What would you do if your parents didn’t like your partner(s)?
Well, first of all, my biological parents are dead and my adoptive ones think I’m dead. But, if that weren’t the case, I don’t think Ma and Pa are the kind fo people who’d try to get between me and my partners. I feel like if they were legitimately concerned for me or had deep worries about my partner, they’d talk to me about it. So, nothing too dramatic.
Dendrobium: Who is the last person that you said “I love you” to?
...I’d rather not talk about them.
False Goat’s Beard: What is something you are good at?
Does writing shitty slashfics count?
Foxgloves: What’s something you’re bad at?
Do you want a list or something?
Freesia: What are three good things that have happened in the past month?
Well...I started dating Jackie.
Garden Cosmos: How was your day today?
Tiring, so the usual.
Gardenia: Are you happy with where you’re at in your life?
...It could be worse, honestly.
Gladiolus: What is something you hope to do in the next year or two?
...Uh...if my relationship with Karlos and Jack lasts...well...uhm...God, don’t tell them I said that, alright? But...getting married seems...nice...
Glory-of-the-Snow: What are ten things that make you happy/you’re grateful to have in your life?
My friends. They’re great, I don’t know where I’d be without them. Especially Tiff, they do so much for me...don’t tell them I said that, they don’t need any more of an ego boost.
Heliotropium: What helps you calm down when you feel stressed?
A good book, audiobook or ASMR and a scented candle in an otherwise quiet room usually does the trick.
Hellebore: How do you show affection?
Usually through words, I didn’t get that damn doctorate for nothing.
Hoary Stock: What are you proudest of?
My work, I guess? My writing? Wait, no, I just remembered my longest work of fiction is a crackfic about mythological characters- I take that back.
Hollyhock: Describe your ideal day.
Just having an entire day to myself, no need to do any work, no stress, no deadlines.
Hyacinth: What do you like to do in your free time?
I take care of my pets and plants, read books, write.
Hydrangea: How long have you known your best friend? How did you meet them?
Oh man, it’s been a few years now. Uhm, my longest friend in the Foundation is Foster, we met in high school, but like I said we’ve had a bit of a falling out. Then it’s Tiff, I met them when I first joined the Ethics Committee. I met Karlos and Bright a few years later, and I’ve known Han for the least amount of time, but it’s still been years.
Irises: Who can you talk to about (almost) everything?
Uhm...Hm...Probably Tiff or Karlos. Han too, he’s a good listener.
Laceleaf: How many friends do you have?
A few. On top of the previously mentioned ones I’m also quite close to Clef, Kondraki and Light.
Lantanas: What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?
Literally, any kind of compliment either of the O5-1′s or O5-11 gave me. Do you have any god damn idea how fucking hard it is to impress the Ones? And Ten...well, he’s just really nice and I appreciate him.
Larkspur: What do you think of yourself?
Anyway, next question!
Lavender: What’s your favorite thing about yourself?
I have great fucking puns and if anybody says otherwise, they’re fucking wrong.
Leather Flower: What’s your least favorite thing about yourself?
Do you want a list?
Lilac: What’s something you liked to do as a child?
Exploring, I guess it never really changed, I like spending time in nature, I just never have the time to.
Lily: Who was your best friend when you were a kid?
........Probably one of my siblings.
Lily of the Incas: What is something you still feel guilty for?
A lot, but let’s not talk about that.
Lily of the Nile: What is something you feel guilty for that you shouldn’t feel guilty about?
Jesus Christ, what’s with these questions?
Lupine: What does your name mean? Why is that your name?
I had to look it up, and apparently, Jeremiah means “Yahweh will exalt”. I had no idea my name actually had a religious meaning. When I was born I was named after my grandma, and when I was changing my name I decided to kind of keep with the theme and named myself after my grandpa. He doesn’t know, actually, I never came out to them, but I like to think he’d be happy that I named myself after him
Marigold: Where did you grow up? Tell us about it.
Like I said before, in a small rural town on a small farm. Not much to talk about, really, I was a typical kid that grew up on the farm. Always got in trouble and always hurt myself doing stupid shit.
Morning Glory: What was your bedroom like growing up?
I was quite a tomboy and I loved cows, so just imagine a room with walls painted to resemble a pasture with cows on it and cow-themed furniture. Handmade too, by my grandpa and Pa, of course.
Mugworts: What was it like for you as a teenager? Did you enjoy your teenage years?
I uh...I’d rather not talk about it.
Norwegian Angelica: Tell us about your mom.
Ma was a great woman, she always cared for me and my siblings, she treated me like her own kid straight away. Didn’t even batted an eye. Never made me feel weird or wrong for liking “boy things” like other adults outside of our family. She was quite fiercely protective of me too, quite a mama bear, I must say. A strong woman, could probably suplex a bear.
Onions: Tell about your dad.
Pa was...well, Pa was just wonderful. He didn’t even hesitate for a second to take me in when his sis and my biological mother died. He was the first person I saw when I woke up at the hospital. He always made sure I was happy and taken care of. He taught me how to hunt and fight and play soccer and football. He was always very loudly supportive of me. I cannot express enough just how much I’m grateful to him and Ma.
Orchid: Tell about your grandparents.
They were very kind, your traditional old couple. I loved granny, but I was always closer to my grandpa. He taught me how to fish, I could always confide in him. He’s a great guy. Granny was wonderful too, I remember I always helped her out in her garden, she’d always scare me with potato bastards- I mean potato beetles, sorry, old habit- I fucking hate these motherfuckers. I love all animals, except for these ones. Potato bastards can suck a dick.
Pansy: What was your most memorable birthday? What made it be so memorable?
[Heavy sigh] My 4th birthday, my older brothers decided it’d be a fun idea to pick every potato beetle they could find from granny’s garden and throw them at me as a “birthday present”...........You know, I think I just realised why I hate these beetles so much.
Peony: What was your first job?
My first official job was in the Foundation, they hired me right when I finished college to help contain one anomaly, then I just stuck around and worked in Human Resources. I don’t think working small chores in our neighbours’ farms for some pocket change counted as a job.
Petunia: If you’re in a relationship, how did you meet your partner(s)? If you’re not in a relationship, how did you meet your crush/how do you hope to meet your future partner(s), if you want any?
I met North when he started working as a junior researcher in the same Site as me. Bright, I knew for longer for uh...obvious reasons, but I first met him in person during a disciplinary meeting. I also worked as an Ethics Committee Liaison in Site-19. You can imagine our relationship wasn’t the best at first.
Pincushion: How do you deal with pain?
Die.
Pink: Where is home?
Well, that sure is a deep fucking question. At this point...I don’t know, honestly.
Plantain Lilies: If you could go back in time, what is one thing you would stop/change?
...It’s...let’s not talk about that.
Prairie Gentian: Who is someone you look up to? Describe them.
No way in hell I’m telling you, he could read this blog.
Primrose: Describe your ideal life.
Living in a cottage in the forest or mountains as a fairly famous writer, with a spouse and a few kids.
Rhodendron: What is something you used to believe in as a child?
Soulmates. Then I grew a brain.
Ricinus: Who’s the most important in your life?
...So anyways.
Rose: What’s your favorite sound?
Uh, so you know how I listen to ASMR? Probably tapping.
Rosemallows: What’s your favorite memory?
Any kind of holiday with my family, we’d always get together and celebrate.
Sage: What’s your least favorite memory?
Let’s not talk about that!
Snapdragon: At this moment, what do you want?
...Hm...Well, I am kind of hungry, I guess after this I should go eat something.
St. John’s Wort: Is it easy or difficult for you to express how you feel about things?
I think I’m kind of...intermediate on that scale. Generally, it’s easy for me unless it’s something very personal.
Sunflower: What is something you don’t want to imagine life without?
...yeah, another question I’m skipping.
Sweet Pea: How much sleep did you get last night?
Not a lot, I’m quite tired today.
Tickseed: What’s your main reason to get up every morning?
Work, I guess? Mostly just routine.
Touch-Me-Not: How do you feel about your current job?
Fucking stressful and exhausting, but it could be worse. That’s talking about my chairman position. But my work on Project X? I like it, one of the more pleasant jobs I had at the Foundation.
Transvaal Daisy: What’s your favorite item of clothing?
...Yeah, just take a guess.
Tropical White Morning Glory: Describe your aesthetic.
Cozy, dark and gold.
Tulip: What would be the best present to get you?
...That’s a bit personal, actually.
Vervain: What’s stressing you out most right now?
The sheer amount of these questions, Jesus fucking Christ.
Wisteria: How many books have you read in the past few months? What were they called?
Unfortunately, I don’t have time for books lately, I did listen to a few audiobooks though. Also, I’m planning to revisit the Warrior Cats books because nostalgia and I need to know what the fuck is happening with these cats lately.
Wolf’s Bane: Where do you want to be in life this time next year?
Hopefully not dead.
Zinnia: Give a random fact about yourself.
Uhhh...hm...I’m petty, but you probably knew that already.

Hm... Let me see... Hunter x Hunter (001) and Kurapika (003) for the ask prompt. 💌
Oooh yes.
Favorite character: See, before now I’d have confidently said Kurapika, and I think I’ll stand by that till my dying day...but he is very closely followed by Kite lately. Not that I disliked Kite at all before (how can you dislike him??), but I looked at his character more recently than I had in the past, and he has certainly grown on me.
Least Favorite character: Nobody makes my blood boil more than Tonpa. Seriously, that guy can suck it.
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): I’m not big into the whole shipping thing (same with my answer to this from OPM), but... HisoIllu and KilluGon are the ones that come to mind. OH! And Pokkle/Ponzu.
Character I find most attractive: It’s a tie between Kastro and Kite. Probably Kastro because I imagine him smelling a lot better. LOL
Character I would marry: Either Kastro or Wing. They seem the most likely to settle down eventually and have a more or less normal life afterwards.
Character I would be best friends with: Pokkle looks like he’d be a lot of fun. He’s so energetic and curious (which was his downfall) that you couldn’t possibly be bored with him around.
a random thought: i miss my white haired boys ;-;
An unpopular opinion: I don’t get all the hype about Leorio. I don’t dislike him, he’s a cool dude, but I don’t see why so many people are so attracted to him. And I’m gonna lose followers for this, but his body type reminds me of a strand of uncooked spaghetti.
My Canon OTP: KilluGon is pretty much canon at this point lbr
My Non-canon OTP: Hisoka and Illumi, mostly because the crackfic possibilities are endless. It gives me a good laugh but I’ve seen some well-written fics of it on the more angsty side.
Most Badass Character: BISCUIT 1000%
Most Epic Villain: Hmmm...I’d probably go with Meruem, because not only was the guy OP af but I was not expecting the way the Chimera Ant Arc ended and I have never bawled as much as I have over an anime. So...yeah, Meruem.
Pairing I am not a fan of: Hisoka/Gon or anything in that realm dear heavens i need a puke bucket after typing that pairing
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): I’m a broken record but this is my blog and I don’t care, I wish we had seen more of Kastro beyond his character existing to show people how not to Nen.
Favourite Friendship: Pretty obvious, but Killua and Gon! They brought out a lot in one another, and I think it was especially beneficial for Killua’s own growth and development as a person.
Character I most identify with: In very different ways, Pokkle and Kurapika. Pokkle’s overall attitude and demeanor, and Kurapika’s more personal struggles and emotions. OH AND SHOOT because of his anxieties and how he went about overcoming them! The dude is badass!
Character I wish I could be: honestly, I really wouldn’t want to have the misfortune of being anyone stuck in that world. It seems way too stressful from a first person perspective, LOL. So probably Mito. She seems to be doing alright.
Kurapika
How I feel about this character: LOVE him. And I feel so sorry for him. I just want him to catch a break.
Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: I don’t think Kurapika is in a place to have a romantic relationship, to be quite honest. He needs time to heal and focus on himself, and realize that he doesn’t have to bear the weight of his trauma all on his own. At the same time, it shouldn’t be up to his partner to “fix” him...so he needs to focus on achieving some sort of peace before he can go pursue a relationship.
My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: I love seeing Kurapika having friends; he needs them. So basically anyone: Killua, Gon, Leorio...he may not want them, but the fleeting moments where he can smile and relax shows how being around these people and having friends positively influences his well being. He deserves happiness!
My unpopular opinion about this character: Skipping this one because I really don’t have one.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I don’t actually wish for this to have happened in canon, because I don’t think it would have really benefited the story much nor his character, but the angry part of me really wishes Kurapika had killed Chrollo when he had the chance.
Favorite friendship for this character: Pairo </3
My crossover ship:  Skipping this one because I really don’t have one.

For the writer asks: 9, 16, 46 for Zuko’s tiny dilemma? Also interested in 11, 13, 19, 20, 22, 24, 25, 27, 28, 30, 33, 34, 37, 40, 41, 43, 48, 49 lol that’s a lot though so whatever you feel like answering from those please? Thanks and love your writing!
9) In your xxx fic, what’s your favourite scene that you wrote?
This is quite tricky. I have a lot of scenes I really enjoyed writing. Hrmmm, maybe the scene where Zuko and Azula are on the beach. It was emotional but also really interesting for me to write.
16) How did you come up with the idea for xxx?
I don’t really remember the exact details now. I think it was partly inspired from the whole manga age regression trope (which always gives me a kick), but a lot of my stories have been started simply because I’d be at my friend’s house (usually writing crackfics on her couch). We’d start chatting abut AtLA, as you do, and I would be like “that would be a funny idea”, and she’d think so too, and then I’d start writing it. Pretty sure that’s what happened with ZTD.
46) I really loved your xxx fic. If you were ever to do a sequel, what do you think might happen in it?
In the sequel (which I kind of am writing in companion one-shots), I’d see the focus more on Zuko’s relationship with Azula and trying to help Aang and the others defeat Ozai. I wouldn’t have any new spirit curses happen.
11) Have you ever amended a story due to criticisms you’ve received after posting it?Yep. I rewrote a chapter for one because readers pointed out stuff I hadn’t thought about previously, and I agreed it was problematic. I’ve also deleted really old stories that tended to get too much negative (my crappy old stories), as I got tired of saying I knew it sucked, lol. I also have added or changed stuff for The Undying Fire because readers have pointed something was a bit unrealistic or whatever. Basically, I’m open to changing stuff if I think the criticisms are valid.
13) Who is your least favourite character to write for? Why?I’ve only been writing The Undying Fire lately, so I’ll go with AtLA characters. I don’t really have a least favourite, but I guess Iroh is the toughest for me. I love him to pieces, but trying to channel a wise old man is hard work sometimes.
19) Are there any stories that you’ve written that you’d really love to do a sequel to?Not really. When I finish a story, I consider it finished. I sometimes expand on one-shots to make them a proper story, but that’s about it.
20) Are there any stories that you wished you’d ended differently? Not that I can think of.
22) Do you have a story that you look back on and cringe when you reread it?
So many. I think the biggest one is A Marriage of Convenience (the title says it all). I would have deleted it ages ago, but readers have requested I keep it on my profile, so I do. I really don’t like that story though lol.
24) How do you feel about writing smutty scenes?
This changes for me. I don’t actually care about smut (as in it does nothing for me), but sometimes it feels like it does fit for a story in terms of showing where the characters are at with each other (like in With Small Steps).  I did once challenge myself to see if I could write a shameless smut scene (Working Off the Edge), but I don’t particularly like that story and may end up editing or just deleting it entirely. (It kind of niggles at me when I think about it).
25) Have you ever cried whilst writing a story?
A lot. Like all the time. Any emotional scene makes me cry.
27) Do you make a general outline for your stories or do you just go with the flow? A bit of both. I have a rough outline of where I want the story to go and major things I want to happen, and then I let the characters take me there, adjusting as needed to keep everything feeling organic. If I plan too much, I get bored and stop writing.
28) What is something you wished you’d known before you started posting fanfiction?
I don’t really have an answer to this, to be honest. I’m the kind of person who was never shy about sharing my stories. My old stuff sucked so hard, but that’s because I was still developing as a writer (and still am improving).
30) In contrast to 29 is there a story which gets lots of love which you kinda eye roll at?
Just Improvise. I know why people like it, and I know why I enjoyed writing it, but it’s really not that great, lol.
34) What’s the harshest criticism you’ve gotten?
Dunno if you’d consider it more of a flame, but I’ve had people tell me my story sucks and I should stop writing. Also get people who say a story has turned boring because of blah blah. To be honest, though, I mostly get weird criticisms. By that I mean they’re not a big deal and are super nitpicky things, and I can’t help feeling like the person was really hunting for something to fuss about.
37) What’s the funniest story you’ve written?
I write a lot of crack one-shots. I honestly can’t decide. If we’re talking multi-chapter, maybe Keep Your Enemies Closer.
40) Do people know you write fanfiction?
Yep. Some of my friends read my fics, other friends just know I write it, and my family think I used to write it but don’t anymore (because I’m supposed to be working on my original novels and editing, lol)
41) What’s you favourite minor character you’ve written?
Hrrrrrrm. I don’t know. I like my sassy spirits. Maybe the dragon moose, Bill, from The Labyrinth of Illusions.
43) Has anyone ever guessed the plot twist of one of your fics before you posted it?Sometimes. Most don’t tend to get it exactly (or else don’t tell me until later).
48) What’s your favourite trope to write?
Found family or body switch (or just body transformations in general).
49) Can you remember the first fic you read? What was it about?
It was a Harry Potter fic. I didn’t know it was fanfiction at first and was so confused why the story was written in Hermione’s point of view lol. I think it was someone’s idea of sixth year.

My shit fanfiction to celebrate SSBU
I’m back with a crackfic. It involves Marth getting angry at Roy for not sucking in Ultimate. Also, subscribe to Pewdiepie.
When Marth first joined Smash Bros back in the good old Melee days, he didn't really think much of it at all. He thought it would just be tournaments and boring shit. But it ended up being pretty fun and he made lots of friends. He became BFFs with Roy since they were the only ones capable of speaking Japanese which was pretty shocking to them seeing as how Fox, Falco and Ness had pretty thick Japanese accents.
The duo eventually learned how to speak English but Master Hand said they weren't allowed to speak English during matches. No one knew why Master Hand decided that but most people assumed it was because he was too lazy to explain why they weren't speaking Japanese anymore. Marth and Roy didn't seem to mind that much since it let them beat opposing teams with ease.
Marth would spend most of his time hanging out with Roy and Link who were way shorter than him. He had never been a tall person, but hanging out with shorter people that weren't girls felt pretty satisfying. It was so satisfying that Marth ended up developing a huge ego because of it.
People say that Smash Bros can heavily alter your personality for some unknown reason. The fighters always insist that's not the case. But Marth's living proof of how bad it can affect you.
Despite becoming a huge asshole, Marth still managed to remain best friends with an overly energetic pyromaniac redhead and a blond idiot who enjoyed talking too much outside of matches. The trio had stupid adventures together, they managed to blow up the kitchen, they traumatized Young Link… They basically had a shit ton of fun together.
However, everything changed once Master Hand decided to make a new tournament called Brawl. Because of the size of the mansion, he had to kick out some fighters (all though rumor has it Pichu evolved and killed Pikachu).
Roy had to leave to go to war or something. His dad was sick and his mom had gotten hired as an assist trophy for Brawl, so this only left Roy to lead the army.
Link had to go save Hyrule and was replaced by another Link that was living proof he had gotten laid. The new Link was slightly shorter and more sarcastic than the old one. He was also hotter and there were rumors about him secretly being a furry.
Marth got to stay much to his disappointment and noticed some changes within himself. Of course, he was completely oblivious to the fact that his personality had completely changed. The biggest change he noticed was that he looked prettier. That was only natural of course, he was Marth Lowell, he was prettier and hotter than everyone else.
Marth managed to become friends with the new Link despite the fact that they hated each other and argued all the time. New Link also introduced Marth to his new friends, Pit and Ike. Marth would have introduced himself normally but Master Hand insisted that Marth had to speak Japanese as to not confuse the newcomers.
That didn't quite work out because new Link didn't understand Japanese so he couldn't explain why Pit and Ike got kicked in the face when they called Marth "Miss". Nevertheless, the four men ended up hanging out the whole time. Marth even managed to become best friends with Ike, but that's 'cause they never talked to each other, so they never got pissed off at each other. But to be honest, anything was better than being Link or Pit's best friends. Those midgets were completely insane.
When the new tournament that Master Hand lazily named 4 was about to start, Marth noticed he had changed. The climate had changed his hair color and it was now a different shade of blue. Not that it mattered because he looked prettier.
Among Marth's small group of best friends, Ike was the only one to go through any big changes. The guy had gotten really buff and made his friends look like midgets. Marth thought he looked like one of those ugly bara guys from yaoi manga, not that he had ever read a yaoi manga. He just knew that because of memes.
It was in this new tournament that Marth learned that he had descendants. He was pretty sure those descendants were descendants of another Marth in another universe because there was no way he'd ever leave Smash Bros. He did not want to return to a world where iPhones and showers didn't exist. He also didn't want to live in Altea knowing that there would be no technological advances in the future. He was used to dealing with bullshit, he hung out with Link after all, but that was way too much for even him to handle.
The tournament was being pretty normal like always until the hands decided to announce that more people were going to be joining. Marth honestly couldn't care less about the newcomers but because of his position as a veteran, he was obliged to greet them.
He unenthusiastically greeted Mewtwo, Lucas and Ryu and was about to leave until Link told him he hadn't greeted someone. Marth reluctantly followed Link towards where the last newcomer was. Marth saw a redhead speaking with some other people and was in complete disbelief. There was no way he was back, right? It was all just a dream.
The redhead turned around and smiled when he saw Marth. Marth smiled back and ran towards him. He jumped into the slightly shorter redhead's arms and hugged him as he cried with tears of joy.
"I missed you so much, Roy," the prince sobbed not caring that everyone else was staring, "I'm so glad you're back… Please don't leave me again."
"I won't leave ever again," Roy said as he hugged Marth.
The two BFFs were finally reunited.
Except that's not what actually happened. That was just Roy's fantasy.
The redhead turned around and smiled when he saw Marth. Marth smiled back and ran towards him. Roy also ran and the two separated friends hugged each other.
"What did I miss?" the short redhead asked.
"Not much," Marth replied.
"Did you prank Master Hand and Crazy Hand?"
"Well, someone had to keep your legacy going. Of course, I was the only one qualified to do that."
"Guess it's time to prepare the best one ever."
"Like in the old days?"
"Like in the old days!"
The two BFFs were finally reunited.
Except that didn't happen either. That was just Marth's fantasy.
The redhead turned around and smiled when he saw Marth. Marth smiled back and ran towards him. He was about to jump into Roy's arms but he noticed something wrong. Something very wrong. Something so wrong it made Marth question if going through depression after losing his BFF was really worth it.
"Roy, are you taller than me?"
It took Marth about an hour and lots of yelling to accept the fact that Roy was now the taller one. Neither he nor Roy had ever expected this to happen. Roy had always looked up to Marth and always expected him to be taller than him, and Marth had forgotten that growing up was a thing.
But now, Marth was faced with a new problem. During Roy's absence, he had become best friends with Ike out of convenience more than anything. He didn't expect Roy to ever return and so he hadn't planned on how to explain anything to his two friends.
He was sure the two would hate each other. They didn't have anything in common besides having headbands, a growth spurt and finding mages cool. Marth was having a mental breakdown thinking about what would happen if the two ever met.
Everyone stared at the prince but didn't think anything, Marth having mental breakdowns was something normal in the Smash Mansion. Master Hand had even made it mandatory for veterans to explain to newcomers that Marth having a mental breakdown was nothing to be worried about.
One mental breakdown later, Marth had a plan. Now that Roy was back, he wasn't the best planner of his friend group anymore, but that didn't matter, because unlike Link, Pit and Ike, he could at least plan shit. Emphasis on the shit.
He was about to set his plan in motion when he saw Roy and Ike speaking. Marth was mentally screaming, his plan had been ruined before it even started.
He calmed himself down and walked towards his two friends. He attempted to hide his death glare but to no avail. His two friends didn't know what was pissing Marth off and were getting worried.
"Marth, are you alright?" Ike asked.
"If it's about the height thing, I'll apologize again," Roy added.
"Did the height thing really piss him off?"
"Yeah… We ended up arguing for an hour. Felt like the good old days."
"And here, I thought Marth and Link were bad… Those two argue at least for half an hour every day."
"Really? I guess Marth needed to make up for all the arguing he was missing."
"Well, it only started getting that bad at the start of this tournament. He seemed depressed during Brawl."
"Poor Marth, he must miss his home. That must be why he wears his tiara all the time!"
"I thought he was just girly."
"That too."
Marth stared at his two friends with shock. They hadn't even known each other for a day and they were already getting along like they were best friends. Heck, they were already shitting on him. This pissed off Marth even more, they were supposed to be his best friends, not each other's.
Marth ended up having to go to Mewtwo's anger management class after threatening to set Roy and Ike on fire. No one was allowed to question why Mewtwo was in charge of that class, all the fighters knew was that Crazy Hand had come up with the idea and the class somehow worked. Most people assumed the classes were just brainwashing sessions since everyone who attended reported being bored or asleep during the whole class.
By the time the Ultimate tournament had finished being planned, the stupid friendship problems had been solved.
Marth happily walked down the hallway with a paper in his hand. He was really excited to show the paper to Roy. The redhead might now be taller and hotter than him, but at least he didn't have the right to speak English during-
"No, way!" Roy smiled as he ran towards his best friend with a paper in his hand, "You're allowed to speak English too? This is awesome! Now we can finally team up with more people than just Cloud!"
"Oh, is that so?"
"Yeah! All though, poor Cloud… Master Hand won't let him speak English despite him being completely fluent in it."
"Is that all you want to tell me?"
"No, there's more. You know how Master Hand is letting us be the personal trainers of certain fighters?"
"Yeah, like me training Lucina. What about it?"
"Master Hand made me Chrom's personal trainer! Ike also helps out from time to time."
"Oh, for fuck's sake!" Marth shouted instantly ruining all of his anger management class's progress.
Roy didn't know why Marth was so angry. Maybe he hated Chrom? Maybe he was tired of having to deal with his ancestors? Maybe he didn't like the idea of having to see Chrom and Robin make out all the time? Roy had absolutely no idea what was pissing off the blue-haired prince.
Marth excused himself to go to the bathroom. He locked the door and looked at himself in the mirror. He was the most beautiful he had ever been. That was the problem, he was getting girlier with age. Roy had gotten buffer and stronger. While he wasn't the best fighter of the lot, he kept improving with all his training. Marth, on the other hand, was doing worse with every tournament. He had been among the top 3 during Melee, he was always among the top 10 in Brawl, but in 4, he only managed to be in the top 10 once.
He couldn't stay angry at Roy forever. He needed to do something about this. So, swallowing all of his pride, he asked Roy a question he had never wanted to ask.
"C-can I train with you?"
"Like a training match?"
"N-no… Actual training, like working out and stuff."
If Roy hadn't been so used to Marth always being weird, he would have called Mewtwo or a psychologist. Heck, he might have even warned everyone about an upcoming apocalypse.
Marth and Roy went to the training room where they met up with Ike. They worked hard to come up with a plan. After an hour of planning, Roy managed to create a training schedule that worked for everyone.
The trio decided to not waste any time and they got down to business. The first thing to do was warm-ups. This meant a hundred push-ups, something that should be easy for well-trained men.
Ike had no trouble finishing his push-ups since he was basically a walking pile of muscle. Roy finished soon after. Marth was the only one left. He never did push-ups, why would he need to do them?
Marth was about to rant but decided against it when he noticed he was being glared at. He did his best to do more push-ups and after complaining and suffering for what appeared to be an eternity, he had finished.
Marth collapsed and sighed in relief, he was finally done with the stupid push-ups. The next warm-up exercise was a hundred sit-ups. Marth had always found sit-ups to be pretty easy despite not having done any for over a year.
The prince learned the hard way that slacking off on sit-ups was a pretty bad idea. He had done about ten before realizing he was doing the exercise wrong and hurting his neck. Marth couldn't remember how he was supposed to do sit-ups and he couldn't look at what Roy and Ike were doing because they had already finished. Marth was left with no option but to continue the exercise even though he wasn't even doing it correctly.
Luckily for Marth's neck, his friends noticed he was doing the exercise wrong and showed him how to do it right. However, there a new problem arose: doing sit-ups quickly really hurts, like a lot. So after another eternity of pain, Marth collapsed.
After a morning filled with Marth suffering and his friends doing practically nothing, it was Ike's favorite time of the day, lunchtime.
The cafeteria was pretty empty since some of the fighters had left for a quick vacation.
After getting their food, the trio sat at their unusually empty table. Ike devoured his meat without a care in the world. Why he didn't have an ending with meat in Radiant Dawn was beyond anyone.
"Marth, don't you ever grow tired of eating salad every day?" Ike asked.
"Don't you ever grow tired of eating meat every day? It's not even that good for you."
"Well, unless I won the genetic lottery, I'm proof that it's better than salad."
"I think we're going to have to work on your diet," Roy told Marth, "You barely eat anything, that's not good for you. And whenever you eat, it's something that's mostly water with little to no nutritional value."
"What are you talking about!?" Marth snapped, "Salad's good for you!"
"So, how come you're completely out of shape now?"
"What!? I'm perfectly healthy! I'm just rusty."
"Marth, you're at your absolute worst right now. You used to be a complete badass back in Melee. Now you're all insane and girly."
"Speaking of Melee, you're making me miss your old-self. He didn't act like he was the voice of reason in every argument."
"You're the one starting all of our arguments!"
"And I wouldn't start them if you didn't make me start them!"
Ike quietly took his food and walked towards Kirby's table. He had no interest in having his meal ruined by Marth and Roy's obligatory daily argument. Ike ate with Kirby and the two happily ignored the smell of smoke as they ate their food.
The mercenary noticed he didn't have any sauce left and got up ready to get more. He didn't get far because the cafeteria was on fire. Ike went back to the table, sat down feeling grumpy and waited for somebody to come and save him.
'Kirby must be so lucky having sane friends,' Ike thought as he looked at the pink puff.
'I wish I had cool insane friends,' Kirby thought as he stared at the fire with fascination.
It took thirty minutes for somebody to come and save them because Crazy Hand had turned off all the fire alarms because he was tired of hearing the ringing sound every day.
Kirby was taking a nap on Ike's lap as the blue-haired teenager tried to sleep through a bunch of arguments. Seriously, why did he have to attend the hands' meeting with his crazy friends? He wasn't the one who set the cafeteria on fire.
"We've had enough of your petty arguments," Master Hand groaned, "We've let them slide for way too long."
"Actually, I find them to be pretty cute," Crazy Hand admitted, "You don't get many people who regularly set the mansion on fire for stupid reasons."
"Crazy! Don't you know how much money we've lost because of their fights!? We won't be able to afford reconstructions with over 70 fighters to take care of!"
"We can make a reality show to make more money! Or we could organize promotional mini-tournaments!"
"Good idea!" Master Hand paused to think for a moment, "Who should we choose for the tournaments?"
"Roy, I want you to participate in the tournaments."
"Me?" the redhead gasped, "Why?"
"I've got a good feeling about you participating."
Roy and some other fighters ended up leaving for a week to compete in promotional tournaments. Roy being absent from the mansion meant that Marth didn't have to train because Ike was not going through the horror that is training Marth by himself and to be honest he really didn't care about Marth's training. Link had offered to help, but everyone was sure he just wanted to blackmail Marth. Link never helped Marth out of the kindness of his heart unless it was something really really really serious.
The week at the mansion was really uneventful. It didn't help that Kirby was in charge and all he cared about was getting food. He had even turned off the WiFi so that people wouldn't get distracted. This meant that no one could watch the tournaments because the 3G and 4G were absolute shit in the area.
Marth was hanging out in the entrance hall with Link, Ike and Pit playing a boring game of UNO. He was about to win but a gust of wind had blown his good cards away which got mixed up with Pit's bad cards. They randomly chose cards and Pit ended up getting the best ones thus leading him to victory.
The Altean was pretty pissed off by his loss, he was about to storm out of the mansion but the door was slammed into him. He ended up falling on top of Link who had been planning on pushing Marth.
"We're back!" Crazy Hand announced full of glee as all the other fighters made their way in.
"Hey, guys!" Roy greeted his friends on the floor, "What did I miss?"
"Me winning at UNO!" Pit cheered.
"Not having WiFi," Link answered.
"So, how did the tournament go?" Marth asked, "We didn't get to see it."
"It went..." Roy started as he took out two objects from his suitcase, "Great!"
Marth stared at the two gold trophies with disbelief. They both had a red ribbon with "Winner" written on it. Marth had to be dreaming, there was no way Roy would win a tournament, let alone two. Roy, win and tournament did not belong in the same sentence.
"Are you done staring at your reflection?" Roy asked his best friend.
"Yes..."
Marth rushed to the toilets and his friends just stared blankly at the space where Marth once stood.
"He's so proud of you that he's gone to cry in the bathroom," Ike told Roy, "He must be too embarrassed to tell you."
"W-what!? That doesn't sound like Marth at all! He never thinks anything nice about me."
It took all of Marth's will for him to not punch the mirror. He was completely pissed off, he wanted to beat someone up to get rid of his anger. This was the last straw. Roy was tall, cool, smart… And now he was a great fighter. He was everything Marth used to be back in the Melee days.
This made Marth feel like he had been betrayed, he always thought he'd be the best fighter of the two, but Roy was catching up just like he always did. Marth would never admit it, but he was envious of the redhead, everything seemed to be going in his favor.
The prince wanted to cry in frustration. He stared at his face on the mirror and remembered what he used to look like when he was younger. Those were the good old days…
Marth could have stayed in the bathroom reminiscing about the past, but he couldn't just sit around doing nothing. He might not be able to grow taller or get smarter, but he could still be a better fighter. It wasn't as though Roy was a better fighter than him, they hadn't fought for quite a while. But if Marth continued slacking off, there was no doubt that Roy would end up way better.
"And then my mom was all like "Eliwood! Don't call our son Ike, let Mark na-" Roy said before feeling someone pull his arm.
"We're going to go train," Marth announced as he dragged the redhead behind him.
"Sorry, I'll finish telling you guys the story later," Roy apologized.
The two swordsmen left leaving their friends in an awkward silence.
"Wow, Marth really wants Roy to be the best he's ever been," Ike noted only for Link to tell him that was definitely not the case.
Marth and Roy were standing in front of the training room trying to come up with an excuse for why they couldn't train Lucina and Chrom. They knew the two were waiting inside for a training session that would never come. But if Master Hand heard about Marth and Roy skipping a training session, he'd be furious and he was already on to them.
Luckily, Ike happened to walk by. He wanted to check on his friends to see what they were doing. In hindsight, it turned out to be a horrible idea.
The two shorter swordsmen had somehow convinced him into helping them train Chrom and Lucina. When they all entered the training room, Marth announced that Chrom and Lucina would be fighting against him and Roy in a few days and to make the training match more challenging, Chrom and Lucina would be training with Ike. Now Ike was stuck training Chrom and Lucina for the rest of the day. He really needed to get better friends to fight for.
Somehow, the excuse worked so well that when Master Hand heard about it, he thought it was a great idea and decided that Ike would train Chrom and Lucina for a week. This meant that Marth had one week to get back into shape and reclaim his position as the best swordsman in Smash Bros (which would now be even easier because Cloud had been banned from the training room by Crazy Hand).
Marth and Roy found an old empty training room and decided to train there. They spent their whole time practicing, working out and making sure to play FEH every thirty minutes. They trained so much that they accidentally skipped lunch (not that was abnormal for Marth).
By the end of the day, the two swordsmen were exhausted and lying on the floor taking a rest. They hadn't worked out so much in ages yet it felt like they had only trained for an hour. Time really did fly when you were busy.
"You think we'll be able to beat them next week?" Roy asked Marth.
"We will win. We've gotta show them we're the best."
"I guess, there's no way we'll lose with you on the team."
"Hey, did we eat lunch?"
"Shit, we skipped it! What time is it?"
"N-nine pm… The cafeteria closes in half an hour."
"If we save our showers for after dinner, we'll be able to get something to eat."
The two friends rushed to the cafeteria where they saw Ike eating a huge bowl full of meat. He seemed pretty pissed off so Marth and Roy decided to avoid him. They went to get their food which they only got after Marth yelled at Mario to give him exactly the same meal as Roy.
After dinner, the two argued for an hour over who got to take a shower first. By that time, Ike had already taken his and prepared himself to go to bed. Since he was not going to deal with his roommates' stupid arguing, he decided to stuff his ears with toilet paper. If there was one thing Ike loved almost as much as food, it was sleeping. Maybe he should tell Lucina and Chrom that napping was an effective way to train? They believed him when he said that if they ate his vegetables and gave him their meat, they'd get stronger.
The week continued that way. Marth and Roy would train the whole day, accidentally skipping lunch, while Ike contemplated his sanity the whole time. Master Hand was extremely satisfied with how things were going. It was the most peaceful week there had been in ages. Last time it was this peaceful was when he forced everyone to take vacations back in the first tournament.
Right before the epic fight, Marth and Roy were preparing their battle plan which consisted of tricking Chrom into running into a fully charged flare blade. That trick always worked on newcomers and people who didn't know Roy. But Chrom knew Roy since the redhead had trained him. However, Chrom wasn't known for his brains, so there was a pretty big chance he'd fall for that trick. Lucina had already fallen for it once, but she didn't inherit her mom's brain, so yeah. The plan was foolproof.
"You know, there's only one thing that could make this battle even cooler," Marth told his best friend.
Roy wasn't sure what Marth was talking about. How could there be anything cooler than a one-hit KO within the first few seconds of the match?
"Last Surprise from Persona 5 playing once Chrom gets knocked out!"
"But would we even be allowed to play Persona 5 music?"
"If the knockout happens, I'll gladly play it," a familiar voice said from behind.
"I-it's the announcer!" Marth gasped as he turned around to see the announcer, "What are you doing here? I thought you never showed yourself. And… Why are you hiding behind a cloak that conveniently makes your face pitch black?"
"I guess I can tell you since my true identity will soon be known to all."
The announcer took off the cloak and revealed his true form. He was a teenager with black hair and gray eyes that turned red for epic moments.
"You're Joker from Persona 5!" Marth yelled, "That's so cool!"
"N-no way!" Roy stuttered, "Joker has been the announcer all this time!"
"I'm also you in Japanese."
"No, I'm you in Japanese."
"Guys, the match is about to start!" Marth alerted his friends, "We've got to hurry! Joker, make sure Last Surprise plays no matter what!"
Marth and Roy headed to stage. Since they wanted an epic and fair battle against Chrom and Lucina, they had chosen to fight on final destination with no items (sadly no Fox, so they went with one stock only). Chrom and Lucina were really excited for their battle against their trainers who they didn't know were excited to beat the shit out of them.
When the match started, Roy immediately started charging the Binding Blade while Marth kept Lucina away. Chrom was going to attack Roy but then he saw Lucina being attacked by Marth and his dad instincts popped out.
Chrom tried attacking Marth, but Marth was two steps ahead and managed to dodge every attack. Marth knew it wouldn't be long until Roy had finished charging his attack. So, he grabbed Lucina and threw her in Roy's direction making sure that she went right above him.
Chrom's dad instincts meant he had to make sure Lucina didn't hurt herself, so he ran in Roy's direction. He was so focused on his daughter that he didn't notice that he was running straight into a trap.
By the time Chrom had noticed the trap, he was already flying through the air with lots of burns while Last Surprise played in the background. Now that he thought about it, the music really fit the situation. Not bad, he thought.
Lucina wasn't having nice thoughts though. She hadn't noticed it before, but Ike had been sitting holding a large panel with Link and Pit that said: "Go Marth and Roy!". She didn't know whether to think Ike was a dick or whether to think he was a nice guy for supporting his friends. But none of that matter, she was completely screwed.
The last thing she remembered from the match was seeing sadistic smiles on her two opponents. The Hero-King and his best friend really were huge assholes sometimes.
"We won!" Marth smiled, "We didn't even get any damage!"
"We've got to celebrate this! We should go eat in town with all our friends."
"Yeah! But before that… I want to tell you something..."
All right, this was it. Marth had to say one of the most embarrassing things he could say. Roy would probably lose all respect for him, but that didn't matter.
"T-thanks for helping me."
"Y-you're thanking me?"
"Y-yeah, you helped me see the light. I probably would have ended up sucking ass if you hadn't let me train with you."
"What!? Marth, you're one of the best fighters I know. I'm sure you would have managed to become great again regardless of my help. I'm nothing compared to you."
"Roy, you've improved so much since Melee. You aren't nothing compared to me."
"Yes, I am!"
"No, you're not!"
"Yes!"
"No!"
The duo ended up arguing for an hour like always. If you asked Master Hand, he'd tell you that they should just settle their differences with a fight on final destination. That was the whole point of the tournament, fighting.
Marth, Roy and their whole group of friends decided to have dinner at the best restaurant in town which had been recommended by Kirby. Everyone was chatting, having fun and enjoying the delicious food. The food was so good it made Pit cry.
"You know, I think I learned something today," Marth told Roy, "Me being jealous of you was pretty stupid."
"You, being jealous of me?" Roy smiled as he tried hiding his laughter, "I can see why it was stupid. I'm pretty shit."
"What!? That's not true! Why would I be jealous of shit? Anyways, I've thought about it. You're taller now and I guess that won't be changing."
"You were upset because I was taller than you?"
"Shut up! Now, where was I… Right! I have no reason being upset at you for being taller because in the end, there will always be someone shorter than me."
"Oh, I see where you're getting at. No matter what happens, Link will always be there to be shorter than us!"
Link glared at the two FE lords he called his friends. Oh, well… At least, Pit was there to be shorter than him.
Everyone walked home. Some were in a rush to get back home, weirdly Marth wasn't among them for once. He was enjoying a walk with his four closest friends despite the cold temperature outside.
"Do you guys think we'll always be best friends?" the blue-haired prince asked.
"Seeing as how we argue over everything, do the stupidest shit together and are all still friends, I think the answer is yes," Link answered.
"You don't think something will ever ruin our friendship?"
"Nothing could ruin us!" Pit cheered, "We're best friends till the end!"
"I can think of one thing," Ike admitted.
"Ike's right!" Roy agreed, "Only one thing could ruin our friendship. Is anyone here subscribed to T-Series?"
Complete silence.
"Good! We're all nine-year-olds with bonus years, right?"
"Of course, we are!" Marth yelled, "We watch Pewdiepie every day and do our part by threatening to kill random strangers if they don't subscribe to Pewdiepie!"
"So, there's nothing to be worried about. I guess you were wrong, Ike."
"Whatever," the mercenary, "Let's just go listen to Bitch Lasagna for an hour while eating dessert."
In the end, the five friends ended up doing just as Ike said. Although, Crazy Hand did join the group for an hour before being kicked out when Pit noticed there was a lasagna in the room.

do all the even numbersssssss
~evil stare~
2) What fandoms do you write for and do you have a particular favourite if you write for more than one?
Ugh.... Animorphs, Marvel, Sailor Moon, Tomorrow People, Firefly, Gundam Wing, Princess Tutu, DC Comics universe, Smallville, Danny Phantom, YURI!!! On Ice, Supernatural, Star Trek, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Daria, How To Train Your Dragon, Rise of the Guardians, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Power Rangers, Fullmetal Alchemist, Miraculous Ladybug, Phineas and Ferb, Gravitation, Yami no Matsuei, Weiss Kreuz, My Little Pony, FAKE, ElfQuest, Good Omens, Chronicles of Narnia, Lord of the Rings, Transformers, Stargate SG1, Pirates of the Caribbean, Highlander, The Sentinel, Boondock Saints, MacGyver, and a whole wild world of crossovers..... Yeesh. Anyway, I don’t have a particular favorite, though I will go through periods of working exclusively in one fandom or another before switching.
4) What is your favourite genre to write for?
Fanfic genre? Probably Alternate Timeline/For Want Of A Nail fics, where a single change in the timeline causes events to play out differently. I also have a weakness for time-travel fics. ^_^
6) If you had to delete one of your stories and never speak of it again, which would it be and why?
I thought we agreed never to speak of it again?
8) Where do you take your inspiration from?
Everywhere. Literally everywhere. Frequently from just sitting around letting my brain wander.
10) In your fic A Wish Your Heart Makes, why did you decide to end it like that? Did you have an alternative ending in mind?
I’ll be completely honest: the moment I got the prompt, I knew how the story was going to end. If anything, I made it less angsty than originally intended.
12) Who is your favourite character to write for? Why?
Depends on the fandom. In Marvel, regardless of the universe, I love writing for Tony and his flashy misdirection and nicknames hiding a wealth of genius and depth and background that the surface never shows. I have similar reasons for enjoying writing Sam Winchester in Supernatural. However, in Fullmetal Alchemist I love writing for Jean Havoc, a theoretical background character who is still deeply important to the narrative and has all sorts of depths to explore despite his canon dissembling about how “I ain’t the brightest, but I get by”. Basically, I guess I just love characters that have way more going on in their heads than gets shown on screen.
14) How did you come up with the title for Twist The Sinews Of Thy Heart? - You can ask about multiple stories.
It’s actually a line from the poem “Tyger Tyger Burning Bright”. Appropriate choice for a fic that features a “crazy” angel rescuing technically extinct tiger cubs. eh?
16) How did you come up with the idea for Twist The Sinews Of Thy Heart?
My dear enabler @rodiniaorzetalthepenquin asked for “fluffy Sastiel with tiger” for her birthday, and by Chuck I delivered! XD
18) Do you have any abandoned WIP’s? What made you abandon them?
Technically, yes, but I don’t exactly consider them abandoned. I have WIPs whose bunnies decided to fuck off to Monaco and chill with porn stars go on an extended vacation, and so they got put on the back-burner while I pursued other avenues in other fandoms, but I don’t think I’m capable of abandoning a WIP. I either finish it or straight-up kill it.
20) Are there any stories that you wished you’d ended differently?
There are a couple of fics that I wish I could have drawn out the resolution longer, but my momentum failed me.
22) Do you have a story that you look back on and cringe when you reread it?
Yep! Next?
24) How do you feel about writing smutty scenes?
Eh... I can do it when I need to, but it’s not my preferred thing to write.
26) Which part of your Amethystium fic was the hardest to write?
Definitely part five. I had to write it with just enough ambiguity to keep it from being too obvious exactly what I’d done so I wouldn’t get murdered by my readers.
28) What is something you wished you’d known before you started posting fanfiction?
The internet is full of people who all have different motivations for going online to read fan-created content. Some people are going to be friendly, some are going to be weirdly elitist about fandom, and some of those people are going to be assholes who want to tear you down just because they think they can and believe the internet anonymity will protect them from consequences. Don’t let them drive you out of what you love before you’re ready to move on to something new.
30) In contrast to 29 is there a story which gets lots of love which you kinda eye roll at?
Not really? Maybe some of my really old Animorphs fics that I wrote when I was twelve upon which I look back and feel like I could have done so much better?
32) Are any of your characters based on real people?
Sure, sometimes. Mostly the blink-and-you-miss-them NPCs. Occasionally some of the bigger OCs are based off of real people, but I try not to tell people that, or of whom the character is a representation. ^_~
34) What’s the harshest criticism you’ve gotten?
Probably the person who kept harping over my “obvious” lack of understanding of genetics, when I’d actually done the research prior to writing the fic and had sources to back up my in-story numbers. The person kept after me until I just deleted the entire fic “pending rewrite” to get rid of the whole damn argument chain, and I’ve just never gotten around to reposting it. Not even sure I still have the original fic file, actually.... Anyway, that was both the harshest and most stupid criticism ever, and for twenty-two years of fic-writing, that’s pretty decent, I think. (I don’t count flames, because those are just haters being mean.
36) Can you give us a spoiler for one of your WIP’s?
...Sam has wings. ^_~
38) If you could collab with any other writer on here, who would it be? (Perhaps this question will inspire some collabs!) If you’re shy, don’t tag the blog, just name it.
Of the people with whom I would like to collaborate and with whom I have not already collaborated, probably @jupiterjames and @theriverscribe
40) Do people know you write fanfiction?
Some of them, if I trust them a whole hell of a lot or we’re mutually blackmailing each other because they write fanfic too. (Looking at you, @jupiterjames )
42) Song fic - What made you decide to use the song “Bailamos” for Harry Potter.
Honestly? The crackfic potential and the chance to write male/male dance choreography. ^^U
44) What is the last line you wrote?
Rarely was Castiel disappointed in the offerings, and even those disappointments were because he didn't care for the flavors, not because of any fault in the quality of the pastries or drinks offered.
46) I really loved your “Phoenix Ascending” fic. If you were ever to do a sequel, what do you think might happen in it?
Well, Michael would take over and stabilize Heaven, Gabriel would get rescued from Assmodickus without Ketch’s help, Lucifer would die sooner, and Jack and Mary would be rescued fairly close to canon with a few obvious differences. Probably. Maybe. If I was writing a sequel. ~shifty look~
48) What’s your favourite trope to write?
Irritatingly, I love writing Slow Burn. I also hate it. Because it’s slow. And long.
50) If you could write only angst, fluff or smut for the rest of your writing life, which would it be and why?
Fluff. Angst hurts to write, frankly, and as for smut.... Meh. I'm really not that good at writing it solo; it's a lot easier to do cooperatively when I have someone else's character reactions to react to, but even then the actual deed is not so important for me as the depths of emotions behind it, so... Fluff.

Yuletide Letter (2017)
Dear Yuletide Writer,
First of all, thank you for taking the time to write me a fic!  This is my third year participating in Yuletide, and I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with. :D
If you have matched with me on one of these small fandoms, I figure chances are pretty good that we share some tastes as well. :D So while I’ve tried to provide at least a bit of commentary for each one, please feel free to ignore all my meandering suggestions if your inspiration takes you in a different direction.  :)  I feel certain I’ll love whatever you write, either way. <3
I also have no preferences as regards length, tense, or POV -- feel free to write the story however it works best. :)
AO3 name: darkcyan
Requested fandoms:
Shirobako
Mouretsu Pirates | Bodacious Space Pirates
Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
Machineries of Empire Series - Yoon Ha Lee
[ hiding the rest under the cut, because as usual, it got long. :) ]
General Preferences:
Yes, Please:
fluff, found family, deep friendships, established relationships, brand new relationships where everyone’s trying to feel their way through, drama if it’s not gratuitous or inspired only by misunderstandings, hopeless pining, hopeless pining that turns out to be reciprocated.  People already trusting each other, people coming to slowly trust each other.
basically if it’s emotionally warm, I will probably love it
and if it hurts but resolves in an emotionally warm place, I will love it while crying
AUs.  canon-fork or otherwise.  I like it best when the characters still feel “true” to their canon personalities, as filtered and changed through the different lens of how the AU differs from canon.  For AUs that involve significant worldbuilding (e.g. sci fi AU), feel free to spend as much time as you want on the worldbuilding in addition to the characters.
Actually worldbuilding in general is great if that’s your thing.
Missing scene / other POV / canon continuation fic are also great. (I think what I’m trying to say is I like basically all kinds of fic?)
time travel. is a guilty pleasure of mine.  Primarily when used as an excuse to abuse one’s future knowledge to help put the past on a better track (though of course, it wouldn’t be as fun if the changes didn’t start piling up eventually. ;) ) Time travel paradoxes are an interesting thought experiment, but in my fic-reading I’ve got a strong preference for the “eh, changing the past forks the future, don’t worry about it too much” mode of time travel.
Female characters being their awesome selves.
Happy endings.  (Bittersweet is fine too :) )
Shipping is great, queerplatonic relationships are great, deep friendship is great.  Relationships are great! (I’ve called out my preferences or lack thereof on a fandom-by-fandom basis below in case it helps.  Anywhere I say “relationship”, feel free to assume that I’d be just as thrilled by anywhere in the spectrum from “really good friends” through “queerplatonic” to “romantic”)
Humor is good too! I’m usually not terribly interested in true crackfic, but the occasional lighthearted fic – or a dash of humor in something otherwise dramatic to lighten the mood – is great.
I feel certain I’m missing a lot, so let’s just say that anything that’s not otherwise called out in my maybe/no lists is fair game :D
Maybe:
issuefic (which seems to include things like alternate sexuality / gender headcanons? not 100% sure on the preferred terminology here?) I like my issues to feel organically part of the story rather than being a transparent soapbox, but other than that, I think that sort of story can be really interesting :D  This is in the ‘maybe’ category mostly because I guess there’s a risk that we might not happen to agree on said issue?? But if it’s the sort of fic you love to write, go for it! :)
Kidfic.  Haven’t really encountered much that interested me, but if you want to, go for it. :)
Please, no:
Onscreen sex. Fade to black or references are fine if you feel it’s critical to the characterization / plot, but if we’ve gotten to the point where we’re talking about limb positions, my reaction is almost certain to be somewhere between bored and extremely uncomfortable.
(but honestly I’d prefer no sex at all. comes of being both asexual and a prude *shrug*)
Even if it’s not explicit or onscreen, please no rape / noncon / dubcon. *eyes list* Do I need to call out “no incest”? I don’t think so? But just in case: no incest either please. :)
Not a huge fan of drug / addiction plots either
Relationships, romantic or otherwise, where there’s a significant power imbalance (especially if it’s abused) really bother me, especially if it’s played as acceptable.[1]  (If the story shows it as deeply problematic and works through the implications, I’ve been known to have an intellectual appreciation for it, but it’s still not something I really want to read about.)
Most significant age difference fic falls into this bucket for me.
I also feel pretty strongly about free will and freedom to choose, so “I’m taking away your choices by hiding things from you / doing things behind your back For Your Own Good” narratives mostly just make me want to punch things, no matter how good the supposed justification is on the part of the person doing it. So. I’d recommend avoidance. :)
… Emotional manipulation in general, to be honest.  Especially, again, if it’s played as acceptable.
Cheating and other forms of deliberate, sustained dishonesty within a relationship.  If the characters are lying to each other, they’d better have a really good reason, and chances are I still won’t like them quite as much after.  [2]
Gratuitous drama.  If the drama could be resolved by the characters just sitting down for five minutes and talking to each other, and the only reason they don’t is ~*~reasons~*~, then I start getting really annoyed, really quickly
Plots revolving around jealousy.  It’s a human emotion, but I hate it when characters let it eliminate their capacity for rational thought
Anything that uses “they couldn’t help themselves” as an excuse for making bad decisions. Like. I’m sure there are exceptions.  (Actual mind-control?) But in general my response to that excuse is “You’re an adult.  Act like it.“
Character bashing. Even the characters I hate are the heroes of their own stories.
Not a huge fan of relentless grimness / Crapsack Worlds.  I enjoy some grim sometimes, but I prefer at least an occasional dose of hope with my grimness. I need to have some faith that the ending will be a happy one, or at least cathartically bittersweet.
Related: If I wanted to hear about awful people being awful all the time and how awful everything is as a result, I’d go watch the news. (... Someday I would like this statement to be less true than it was the previous year, instead of more. ;___;) There can be awful people, they can do awful things, but I’d really prefer they not be either the majority or the focus of the story.
[1] BDSM in which said power relationship has been consensually agreed on ahead of time is entirely different, of course. :)
… But it’s also not generally really my thing. :P
[2] For the record, I do not count poly relationships in this bucket at all.  All I ask is that everyone who’s involved is aware of and reasonably happy with what’s going on.
Fandoms:
Shirobako
Crunchyroll
Requested character(s): Miyamori Aoi, Yano Erika
Spoiler notes: I’ve watched the show and read the first several chapters of the prequel manga
Preferred pairing(s): gen or Erika/Aoi (side relationships between whatever set of the characters that suits your fancy are fine too - aside from my soft spot for Erika/Aoi I don’t have any strong ship feelings.)
THIS SHOW.  I love it to pieces. When I first started watching it, I was in the middle of a bit of a professional crisis of my own (trying to decide whether to change jobs), so this show hit basically all my “I love this” buttons, from laughing and crying about how well it depicted how hard it is to get a lot of creative people to work together (I’m a programmer, not an animator, but the similarities are pretty scary), to laughing and crying at its depiction of writer’s block, to adoring all the little in-jokes it slipped in about anime as a whole (I wish I could remember the name of that harem show …), to loving all the insights into how making an anime actually works, to empathizing like no one’s business with Aoi’s insecurity about whether she was “enough” for the job and whether it was okay to not have everything figure out yet, to Ema’s struggles with imposter syndrome, to Misa’s angst about whether she should stick with a stable job she knows or try for something more like what she really wanted, to …
just.
THIS SHOW.
I re-watched it last year and was struck all over again by how much I love Erika’s casual mentorship of Aoi; she’s one of my favorite characters, and I’m always sorry to see her disappear and I always cheer when she comes back.
So what I’d really like to see this time is a story that focuses on their relationship.  A scenario where Erika helps point Aoi in the right direction?  When Aoi realizes Erika needs some support?
During that long gap when Erika is away caring for her father, do she and Aoi still stay in contact?  Does Aoi ever come visit?
I’d just love to see more of these characters and their friendship.
(Note: I do low-key ship Erika/Aoi, but I also am pretty iffy about workplace romance, especially in such a small workplace, and Erika especially seems like the sort to be level-headed about that sort of thing.
So if you want to take things in a shippy direction, I’d like to request that it either stays at mutual pining or -- if they decide to make a go of an actual relationship -- actually addresses the workplace romance issue. One of them moves to a different company? idk.
But I’d also be 100% happy to see a fic that is completely gen, if that’s what you’d prefer. :) )
(And one final note: Hiraoka. I’m not sure I like him, exactly, but I’ve been uncomfortably close to where he is emotionally, so he gives me lots of complicated feelings.  So, if you choose to include him, please be kind?
And if you, too, have dealt with burnout - Erika and Hiraoka had a very interesting conversation at one point that made me think that Erika’s also uncomfortably familiar with it, but has just stabilized in a healthier place. If you wrote a story centered on that I’d probably love you forever, but I’m not sure it’s one even I’d be willing to attempt …)
Mouretsu Pirates | Bodacious Space Pirates
Requested character(s): Lynn Lambretta, Jenny Dolittle
Spoiler notes: I’ve watched the show and the movie.
Preferred pairings: Lynn/Jenny
… Yeah, no, I’m not even going to pretend that I’d be happy with gen when this is an actual canon relationship that is one of the most adorable things I’ve ever seen.
(… Like, my high-pitched yelling about this pairing almost reaches the level of Uranus/Neptune back in my peak Sailor Moon fan years.  … … And that’s a lot. XD)
I meannnnn you can do gen if you reallllllly want to. :D I’m sure I’ll still enjoy it.  <3
But yeah, insofar as I have OTPs anymore, these two are definitely one of them. XD (And I’m hoping that if you’re offering these two characters, it’s because you ship them too. XD)
Ahem. Where was I?
I really enjoy this show in general - it’s just so refreshingly, unabashedly fun; a lovely warm show about a bunch of ridiculous, adorable, and really damn competent girls being their awesome selves. (With a handful of fond, long-suffering adults on the side.) (And also piracy.)
And I love Jenny and Lynn in particular because even though they’re secondary characters, they exemplify this - every interaction Marika has with them, they’re being their competent, awesome selves, and it’s a true treat to watch.
So please give me these two characters being being their badass competent selves.  Or give me something adorably fluffy with the two of them doing nothing in particular.  Give me them working together and sometimes having to remind each other to take a break and eat or sleep - or give me that year they spent separate, and their wistful pining, wishing they could reach each other through their holographic displays.
(Okay, ngl, I have a special category of high-pitched yelling reserved for that phone conversation!! When Jenny is giving Lynn advice on being president!! And Lynn’s wistful-but-fond smile as she hangs up!!!)
In summary, please give me more of these adorable canon lesbians. <3
Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
Requested character(s): Nel Zelpher, Clair Lasbard
Spoiler notes: I’ve played the game and am ~ halfway through the manga and seriously wtf did you do to my favorite character less blushing more badassery for Apris’ sake!
Preferred pairings: Nel/Clair
Speaking of high-pitched yelling on the scale of Uranus/Neptune, I am fairly certain that Nel was my official first ever video game crush. This was a bit difficult for me to explain to myself, as I was convinced I was ~straight at the time, but she was so cool that I didn't bother to think about it in too much detail.
And when we are introduced to Clair as her partner, and every single scene in which the two appear makes it clear how strong their bond is -- it was a foregone conclusion that I would start to ship them as well. And Adray's obnoxious insistence on trying to find a husband for Clair just made me even more determined to headcanon them as lovers (or at the very least secretly pining for each other) in addition to partners.
As I said above with Lynn/Jenny -- if you don't ship them romantically, but just think they're great platonic partners, I'm sure I'll still enjoy it whatever you come up with. But in case there’s any doubt, I also very much ship them. :D <3
And either way, I just love their dynamic -- these two strong-willed, intelligent, fiercely competent women, working towards a shared goal that they both believe is more important than themselves. How deep and unshakeable their trust is -- and how even though it clearly tears Clair apart to send Nel out into a situation that they both know may not be survivable, she'll do it anyway. And Nel will go.
I don't have any specific prompts in mind -- if you want to write about a mission Clair has to send Nel off on, and the tension between their fear for and their trust in each other (and the knowledge hanging over both of them that they're doing something that they see as more important than them both), great! Want to just do fluffy interactions during a brief break from the action (do they get vacation? How many people do they have to bribe to get vacation at the same time?), or after the war is done and things are a bit more settled, go for it. In the narrative path where Nel goes with the party into space, does she think of Clair and all the stories she's going to tell once she gets back (if she gets back)?  What does Clair think, being left so much farther behind this time than any other time before?  What stories does Nel tell when they're reunited?
Got an idea that's burning in your mind and has nothing to do with any of these? I'm sure I'll enjoy whatever you come up with. :)
Machineries of Empire Series - Yoon Ha Lee
Requested character(s): Kel Cheris, Shuos Alaia
Spoiler notes: I’ve read both Ninefox Gambit and Raven Stratagem, and a decent number of the other vignettes/short stories in the world.  If you want to check whether I’ve read a specific story, feel free to shoot me an anon ask. :)
Preferred pairings: Cheris/Alaia
Ah, these books. Ninefox Gambit is one of my favorite books I've read this year, and its sequel, Raven Stratagem, was an entirely worthy follow-up. I'm really looking forwards to how the trilogy concludes in Revenant Gun, but in the meantime: fanfic! :D
I debated what I wanted to request, since there's a lot about this series that I like -- the fact that pretty much all of the characters are competent and Done With Your Shit, the way it sets up a horribly broken system and then doesn't flinch away from both how broken it is, and how the vast majority of people have just ... accustomed themselves to the situation, and make do while tolerating the horrible. It makes the system feel sustainable enough to have lasted this long, while still making it very clear why multiple someones would have gone to so much effort to try and tear it down. And yet, it also doesn't flinch from the consequences of the actions that the various characters take to try and tear it down, either. (One of the many reasons I'm looking forward to Revenant Gun -- I'm very curious to see what the consequences arise from the events in Raven Strategem.)
I really enjoy how many characters are queer (including trans!!), and how casually the narrative treats this fact. And the way that many characters' families are factored into their thoughts, even if they're not on the page, in a way that felt very true, but that I feel like doesn't often come up in other novels that aren't explicitly about something family-related.
The casual inclusion of dyscalculia and ADHD is also pretty great -- how it’s clearly an aspect of the characters that have shaped them, while even more clearly not being all their character is.
... So what do I decide to request this year?
Cheris and that one ex-girlfriend of hers who shows up for, like, a paragraph of flashback in Ninefox Gambit. XD
I just ... really liked that little bit of insight we got into Cheris’ history, and would love to see more.  How did they meet? Why did they break up?  What was the actual most ridiculous drama they watched, and how late did they stay up making fun of it?
Feel free to go in a more serious direction as well (what sort of training incident gave Alaia her nervous tic? what is being Shuos like to someone who didn’t go the flashy assassin route? How did being Kel and Shuos inform their interactions with each other, and the world around them).
And, as always, feel free to ignore my prompts entirely if there’s something you’d rather do instead. :D
