Yes, here comes the third piece properly introducing the core characters of my upcoming Mass Effect fanfiction Halfway Home! Have a Khocress Kam'Gestar.

The story will be officially out on Ao3 the 17th of November, and new chapters will be uploaded every Thursday (CET / UTC+01:00)!

This drawing has conceptually been living in my head since forever, and I always hesitated to actually draw it. I'm glad I did!

This is Khocress Kam'Gestar, a batarian trying to turn hell into home. As a gang leader on Omega, he's deeply embedded within the politics of the station and suffers through a tense partnership with the Queen Herself, Aria T'loak. Not above brutality; not above second guesses either.

GALAXY'S OKAYEST "DAD"

Tell me if you've heard this one before, a batarian day laborer and a human orphan meet in a refugee camp on the Citadel. That's it. There's no joke here, actually.

The Reaper war brought devastation to everyone, it didn't care who you were or where you were from. People were left without homeworlds (even if they didn't care very much for said homeworlds), without family, and without anywhere else to go.

In times like that, all sorts of unlikely folk are brought together. You need each other to survive. Community and family is more important than ever, even the kinds you make yourself (or maybe especially the kinds you make yourself.)

So Korak became the galaxy's okayest "dad" to Trisha, a sweet, earnest teenager.

And he will beat the shit out of anyone who has anything untoward to say about it.
