Arizona governor vetoes transgender bathroom bill, condemns it as ‘attack’ on children | The Hill
Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs (D) vetoed a bill that would have prevented students in public schools from using a bathroom or changing facility for a sex different from their gender assigned at birth.
Hobbs said in her veto message on Thursday that she will veto every bill that “aims to attack and harm children,” as she said when vetoing another bill last month that would have restricted the use of a student’s pronouns consistent with their gender identity.
“SB1040 is yet another discriminatory act against LGBTQ+ youth passed by the majority at the state legislature,” Hobbs wrote.
Republicans hold a narrow majority in both the state House and Senate. The bill passed along party lines earlier this year.
The legislation would have required public schools to establish a “reasonable accommodation” for students who refuse to use a multi-occupancy bathroom or changing facility designated for a specific sex and who send an accommodation request in writing.

Utah governor signs bill to throw trans people in jail for using the correct facilities
Tumblr media
February 1, 2024 / Alex Bollinger
A bill that creates criminal penalties for many transgender people who use the bathroom associated with their gender has been signed into law by Utah Gov. Spencer Cox (R). The bill, H.B. 257, says that people can only enter the restroom of their sex assigned at birth in publicly-owned facilities, which includes schools and other government-owned buildings. It also creates an exemption for transgender people who have had bottom surgery and those who have had the gender marker on their birth certificate corrected. The bill includes locker rooms and other facilities. Under H.B. 257, transgender people who have not had such surgery and have not updated their birth certificates but who use the restroom or locker room associated with their gender can be charged with lewdness, lewdness involving a child, voyeurism, loitering in a privacy space, or, in the case of locker rooms specifically, criminal trespass. Voyeurism is a class A misdemeanor in Utah, punishable with up to a year in jail and a $2,500 fine, and a third-degree felony – punishable with five years in prison and up to a $5000 fine – if a child is present. Criminal trespass is a class B misdemeanor, punishable with up to six months in jail and a $1000 fine. Government-owned institutions that don’t enforce these rules can be fined up to $10,000 per violation per day. More >

To the Florida trans community- I just heard about the bathroom bill passing. I'm so, so sorry this has happened. I'm sure you must be devastated. It's a scary time right now but please remember you have so many people in this country who support you. Laws get passed, but they can also be overturned. I know it might not be soon but I believe it will happen. Please keep believing that change can happen. The day is coming when everyone will respect you for who you are. They are fighting so hard against you right now because they are afraid of how powerful they know you are. Sincerely, a cis ally from Massachusetts.

The Hill
April 28, 2023
Republican legislators in Kansas on Thursday enacted what LGBTQ rights groups have characterized as one of the most sweeping and restrictive transgender bathroom bills in U.S. history, overriding Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly’s veto of the measure.
The Kansas House voted 84-40 Thursday to override Kelly’s veto of Senate Bill 180, which defines sex in state law to mean an “individual’s biological sex, either male or female, at birth.” The Senate voted 28-12 on Wednesday to do the same.

All I want to know is people who think bathrooms should be sex separated, how do they plan on enforcing that rule? is it just by looks? Because there are countless cases of people being mistaken for trans people, specifically gender nonconforming cis women being confused for trans women.
Are we checking private parts just to make sure? What about post op trans people? Do people need to carry around their birth certificates along with their ID and present them to be allowed access?

I’m not serving the the rag of cis “needs”, that aren’t needs, it’s so pathetic. You excuse abusers inside your own households and writhing your own friendship groups a high percentage of the time yet… now suddenly abuse is important to you and you’re targeting people that aren’t even doing it because you’re too cowardly to bother with confronting the real problem, which is how you treat people.

Idaho 'bathroom bill' that prohibited transgender students from using bathroom of their choice is temporarily blocked | ktvb.com
A federal judge ruled that Senate Bill 1100, a bill that banned transgender students from using the bathroom of their choice, would change the school-by-school status quo and temporarily blocked the bill from going into effect, right before many schools start in the fall.
“The court’s ruling will be a relief for transgender students in Idaho, who are entitled to basic dignity, safety, and respect at school. When school is back in session, they should be focusing on classes, friends, and activities like everyone else, rather than worrying about where they are allowed to use the restroom,” Lambda Legal Senior Counsel Peter Renn said. “No one’s return to school should be met with a return to discrimination.”

This is how transphobia affects all women. A shocking video, now removed due to how horrific it was; shows how a woman was harassed in a public bathroom after another woman wrongly assumed she is trans.
The irrational fear here is that trans women are going to be attacking cis women. It's actually the other way around. Its members of the trans community who are the ones who are vulnerable here. In this case a woman mistaken as a trans woman. Maybe if we just leave trans women alone to go to the bathroom in peace, these senseless attacks wouldn't be occurring. It's absolutly disgusting what is happening here.

This is the dark side of letting trans folk into gender bathroom.
One day, I was at school bathroom and my friend just choices the stall just beside the one I was in. I didn't know what to do, so I stop everything until I heard:
-oh hello there, I recognize your shoes Butch-Enjoyer.
Then I let the biggest fart that I ever had and stablish dominace by accident.

the bills broaden the 'bathroom ban' / anti-trans legislation currently in place. the bills mimic many new anti-abortion laws that target interstate travel to receive care.
[TruthOut / November 22, 2023] South Carolina Republicans have introduced a slew of anti-transgender bills that would criminalize trans people from using public restrooms that match their gender identity, ban gender affirming care for trans youth, ban Medicaid coverage for gender affirming care for trans people under the age of 26, and ban “aiding and abetting” gender-affirming care. … This year, more than 500 anti-LGBTQ bills were introduced across the country…
