Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs. Organized by which ones (in each category) I’m enjoying the most.

Ongoing Series - Thai

My School President (Fri YT) 2 of 10 - this show is gloriously ridiculous and charming and exactly my preferred kind of BL. Tinn has NO GAME, but man do I love a whipped boy. Anything that harkens this hard to Love Sick gets my vote.

609 Bedtime Story (Fri WeTV) 3 of 11 - It is nice to see Ohm play a character with more animated facial expressions. I’m liking this show a great deal, but I am really not wild about time loops. Crazy to see Stud & Sam on screen together again. Holy Friend Zone flashbacks batman.

Between Us (Sun iQIYI) 5 of 12 - it continues to be great, I continue to worry about the fact that apparently only Taiwanese BL considers therapy a viable option for boys who actually, ya know, NEED it. WATCH ALONG HERE.

Ai Long Nhai (Mon iQIYI) 11 of 12 - More nothing is happening, but the nothing is shirtless again, so I’m good.

Remember Me (Sun Gaga) 9 of 12 - Well, the sweet little BL with Gun & Golf is great. Bummer they only take up 20% of screen time. Golf’s parents are the best. That’s all I got.

I Will Knock You (Fri Gaga) 4 of 12 - it’s boring, what can I say?

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

My Tooth Your Love (Taiwan Fri Viki) 10 of 12 - everything about this show is so stinking cute, even the crumbs are adorbs. So many smiley kisses! (my 2nd fav kiss, the 1st one being a crying kisses, I’m warped). Speaking of, is it just me or is the actor playing Alex 1000% hotter when he smiles? Please no Doom next week, Taiwan? Pretty please?

Oh! My Assistant (Korea Thurs Viki) 3-4 of 8 - Amusingly, I’m referring to it as OhMyAss in my notes. I do love this one, it has such a Japanese feel to it. The episode titles alone are hilarious. Plus, kisses already? Korea? What’s going on? Meanwhile, this is my favorite bisexual awakening in cinematic history. It made me incandescently happy.

Happy Ending Romance (Korea Thurs Gaga & Viki) 5-6 of 8 - Look, I can watch Leo be pensive & moody until the cows come home (and have in half of Vixx’s MVs*) but it is getting a little tiresome here. PLUS: this is a KBL they don’t have a lot of time to waste even on his level of evil beauty. I think this would have worked better as a romance if the Writer had known the Editor in (at least) a friendly way in the past/at school as well - so there was more established dynamic to their instant affection and shacking up. Apart from my qualms around the romance thread, the plot is actually pretty good. It’s very angsty and tense for something so simple, which suits this length of show. *I guess what I am saying is if Korea ever did a remake of KinnPorsche, Leo MUST play Vegas.

Choco Milk Shake (Korea Strongberry Tues YT) 10 of 11 - Pain. Argh. It was cruel to send them back, to all of us. Is there an ep 11, or is that a BTS and this was the end? In which case... in Strongberry I no longer trust. I guess we find out next week how shaken my faith is.

Eternal Yesterday AKA Eien no Kino (Japan Thurs Gaga & Viki) 8fin -Fortunately I have no faith at all in Japan, I expect pain from them. So here’s your final review of this one:

Smart boy in love with zombie incubus, keeps him alive with sex. Japan, king of thirst, gives us both that and PAIN: these 2 are drowning in yearning and loss. Careful with this one - you break it, you bought it, and it'll break you... wide open just to see what color your guts are. After watching, you too might be walking around alone, forgotten, and wondering why no one understands your loss. Not only does it not end happily, it ends hopelessly. That’s an automatic 2/10 from me. No exceptions and NOT RECOMMENDED.

Sure, it may actually be brilliant, but it hurt me and I’m mad about it.

It’s Airing But I’m Not Watching It

War of Y (Thai Gaga) 20 eps - it’s just all too much for me.

2 Moons 3 (Thai Mon ??) 10 eps - Possibly a future binge watch. Rumor is it’s banal.

Love Bill (Vietnam Sat YT) - Bah Vinh is back but I’m too distracted. Also there’s a lot of fund raising stuff going on. I’ll wait and binge.

The Star Always Follow You (Vietnam YT) - same Team RL peeps we have seen before (Sunshine, Stupid)

Till the World Ends (Thai YT) 10 eps - ?

Why You... Y Me? (Thai Weds YT) 10 eps - It's not primarily a BL, but another meta show about BL shipping, with side BLs. @heretherebedork is watching it, ask them about it.

I refuse to believe it. GMMTV is simply forbidden to do pain, it’s not their brand and I’ll be very mad if they do.

In Case You Missed It

Semantic Error movie (Viki) the repackage did have some nice added footage but I wasn’t wild about some of the new scene cut choices. Still, not substantial enough changes for me to deeply lean one way or the other. I prefer the original but that might just be because that’s how I consumed it first. *shrug*

GAP the series (Sat YT) is a classic office set romance. WATCH IT! It’s GL and this studio needs our support! I’m enjoying it but not chronicling my journey. (Also, the stairs are back.)

Dec 13 - Never Let Me Go from Thailand, GMMTV’s YT, 10 eps - GMMTV’s answer to KinnPorsche this is a mafia, attack dog (whipping boy + bodyguard) suspense BL. I’m delighted to see Pond Phuwin get a crack at something that’s not FUTS. Jojo (3 Will Be Free) is directing, so we know the action parts should be decent.

Dec 15 - The Director Who Buys Me Dinner from Korea, iQIYI - A new production house employee whose director (absolutely perfect in every way except that he seems to have lost his mind) claims to have lived 3 lives and insists that they have to date if they don't want to die.

Dec 16 - Candy Color Paradox AKA Ameiro Paradox from Japan, Gaga, 8 eps - A stakeout throws Onoe, a reporter, together with photographer Kaburagi. Kaburagi's haphazard work style goes against Onoe's ethics. Yet, in joint pursuit of a scandal, the two move from enemies to lovers. Adapted from manga Ameiro Paradox by Natsume Isaku.

Dec 21 - The New Employee AKA The New Recruit AKA Shinib Sawo from Korea, (prob Gaga or Viki) - From WATCHA (Semantic Error) virginal Seung Hyun scores the office internship of his dreams but on his first day at work he gets into it with his cool reserved boss. As you do. Stars Moon Ji Yong (Once Again). Based on Moscareto's web novel of the same name, directed by openly gay & queer activist Kim Jho Gwang Soo (Just Friends?).

Dec 28 - H5: Love in the Future from Taiwan (prob Gaga or Viki) - A cheerful and energetic student from 2000 travels to the future (2022), works as a deliveryman, and meets his first customer, an heir with a domineering personality. Directed by Nancy Chen (HIStory 4, Papa & Daddy).

Daminette December 2022: 8-Submission

Damian Wayne pouted in the car on the way to his punishment. He had yet to figure out what it was, but it had been worth it. As Robin, he had broken formation, during patrol, and returned to the meet up point with a kitten. Batman had denied his request to bring it home. He even had Oracle locate several animal shelters.

"I will be taking it to a veterinary, first. They can also checked to see if it belongs to someone. If no one has claimed it within a week, I will return with it." Robin demanded.

"No." Batman growled.

Robin frowned, "Al.....Cat A is getting older. He will have a playmate and I will have a companion after he passes."

Nightwing nodded. Red Hood sighed and Red Robin yawned. Batman sighed.

'It was true that Damian had kept Alfred the cat since his arrival to Gotham. It was becoming more apparent that Damian was worried about his cat. He had been taking it to the vet more often. The cat was eating less and had even allowed them to pick him up when he was in the way. Alfred the cat had become more docile.'

"Very well." the Dark Knight answered, "Return to the cave and get prepared. Agent A, Robin will be returning with a small companion, in need."

"Yes, sir." Agent A replied.

The Wayne boys had been upset that Damian had gotten special treatment, in their eyes. They had decided they would punish him for extending patrol hours for them.

"Where are we?" Damian demanded.

"Surprise, Little D!" Dick exclaimed.

Jason smirked, "We picked the worst thing we possibly could."

"It took all week, but we finally came up with the perfect plan." Tim smiled, then yawned.

"What is it?" the Wayne heir growled.

"Can I tell him?" Jason volunteered.

"Sure." Tim answered.

"We all hate those stupid parties and do anythign possible to not be grabbed at." Todd smiled, "So, you are going to be a male model for this event."

Damian was stunned. His father's adopted children had decided to punish him with making him a dress up doll. What was worse, he was going to be touched and grabbed; he couldn't lash out.

'Assholes.'

"This was a last minute thing, too." Grayson declared, "They needed a replacement."

Damian sat silently as the horde of girls, across the room, pointed at him and his siblings. He wished he could be anywhere else, right now. At least there were some other males in the room, but their glares weren't any better then the giggles.

'Why couldn't they have just shipped me in a crate back to Mother?'

"Damian Wayne." a voice called.

Damian and his brothers stood up and followed the voice. A girl looked at them confused, but opened the door wider. The girl closed the door and stared at them.

"Damian, go ahead and stand on the platform." She demanded, "I'll need you to strip to your boxers."

"I will not!" the Wayne heir growled, taking a step forward.

"How else am I suppose to take your measurements to make sure the clothes fit you?" she shouted.

Damian remained where he was.

"You're the designer?" Drake shouted.

She smiled, "Marinette Dupain-Cheng, at your service. I've been designing since I was ten and my clothes have rocked runways since I was thirteen."

Damian quickly looked over the designer's appearnace. She was his age, maybe younger. Her hair was so black it appeared blue and her eyes were the bluest he had seen. That alone was saying a lot since his family was notorious for their blue eyes. Marinette looked tired, almost as much as Drake.

"So it's your fault I'm here?" he questioned.

She glared at him.

'Interesting.'

"I didn't personally ask for you, Your Highness." She declared, "A friend of mine was suppose to be my model, but he broke his leg. I don't know who you are and I don't fucking care! Right now, I have to figure out if I have clothes to alter or possibly remake, altogether. Get down to your boxers so we can both get this over with. The faster you do this, the faster you can get out of my way."

The Wayne boys were shocked. Everyone usually treated them like they were special. This designer didn't know who they were and didn't even care.

Damian quickly listened to her.

'Looks like we both don't want to do this.'

Marinette quickly got to work. She had made a chart on the paper under Adrien's. She made sure to follow the same guidelines to easily figure out if there were changes to be made. She quickly measured his arms and chest. Adrien may have been use to all of this, but she could feel the subtle flinches under her hands.

"I'm only going to explain this once. I'm going to measure your lower half. That includes the inseam; the inseam will be you inner leg. You cannot move. If I make a mistake, the pants can be too tight and ride up. That would be uncomfortable for both of us." she quickly explained.

Marinette got up and began to look over her notes.

"Get dressed." she stated, "You're dismissed."

She flipped the paper up and down to compare Adrien and Damian's measurements.

"Will he be okay?" Dick questioned.

"I have to make new clothes for him." she sighed, "I can't use what I already have."

"Will your show be okay?" Jason asked.

'Shit! We made this a punishment for her, too.'

"Yeah. I'll have my assistant stock up on coffee. " Mari declared, waving off their concerns, "Mostly everyone is coming in for a fitting, today, so there shouldn't be any drastic alterations to the rest of them. If I focus on his, I can finish in two days. Come back by then, so I can make sure about any adjustments."

"Wait!" Tim shouted, "I thought he had to wear like ten outfits."

"Yes and I said it should be done in two days." Marinette replied, "Thank you for stopping by. Next time, leave the attitude outside of my dressing room."

"Question." Damian spoke.

Marinette put on her best customer service smile, from the bakery, she could and asked, "Yes, Sir. How many I help you, today?"

Jason snorted and covered his face. Dick smiled at her sudden change in demeanor. Tim facepalmed. He knew it wouldn't end well, where Damian was concerned.

"Do you partake in the female sex?" he questioned.

Marinette blinked it confusion before laughing.

"No, I don't like girls." she answered.

"Married?" he continued.

"Nope." she smiled.

"Committed relationship?" Damian persisted.

"Nope." Mari spoke.

"A beneficial relationship?" he asked.

"No." Marinette replied, "Why all these questions?"

"All those harpies in the other room wouldn't shut up." Damain answered, "You barely looked at me."

"Oh, I'm sorry I didn't stroke your ego." Mari rolled her eyes.

"Maybe that isn't what he wanted stroked." Todd smirked.

Damian quickly turned and glared at his sibling, briefly catching the designer's blush.

'So she was staring. Perhaps she was only keeping up the appearance of professionalism.'

"Look, I've seen people, like you, who think because they look good, it makes them better than anyone else." Marinette answered, "Usually, they're a bunch of assholes, as you have proven. I prefer a man with taste."

'I look appeasing to her, but my behavior dissuaded her.'

"You prefer the men who open doors and pull out chairs; a perfect gentleman." Damian quipped.

"Fuck that!" Marinette shouted.

The Wayne boys couldn't believe their ears. They were so use to people demanding them to act perfect; even Bruce.

"At the end of the day, they think if they do that kind of stuff for woman, a woman should serve them behind closed doors." Marinette replied.

"You tried?" Damian questioned.

'What the hell did that bastard do to her?'

"First college boyfriend. Seemed nice and I was naïve. Later, I heard him tell his friends how I was 'bad in the sack'. I laughed in his face and said he was too much of a dick to even have made it that far. He got laughed at and said I was a bad girlfriend for not serving him." Marinette answered, "His friends asked what he meant, so I told them about his whole 'woman live for men-household outlook'. They told him his idea was outdated and woman aren't like that, anymore. If he wanted that, he'd never find a wife. Last I heard, his husband set him on the right path."

The Waynes began to laugh and chuckle.

"I prefer my men honest. I don't care if they can't cook, if they can't clean, but if they get on my bad side, they usually end up tied up and in a ditch somewhere." she declared.

Someone knocked on the door, before opening it. The Waynes noticed a blonde boy with his foot in a cast and crutches.

"Adrien Agreste!" Marinette shouted, "What the fuck are you doing here? You're suppose to be on bedrest!"

"The show." he whined.

The Waynes were astounded to see the tiny designer throw the injured party over her shoulder, like a sack of potatoes.

"NO!" he shouted, turning red, "Mari!"

"Bad Kitty!" Marinette scolded, "You are going to lay on that pull out couch you assumed I would use as a bed in my office. Natalie is coming to get you."

"Please, no!" he pleaded, "I'll be good! Don't call her! I'll be stuck at the piano again!"

"Bed." Marinette stated.

"Yes, Ma'am." he answered.

"And I don't want to hear one peep about my sewing or my mothering from you!" she continued to chide.

"Yes, Momma Mari." he answered.

Marinette walked out of the room. Adrien just waved as Marinette carried him away.

"Wow; she doesn't take no for an answer." Tim spoke.

"No wonder that other guy didn't do it for her." Dick laughed.

"Oi!" Jason hollered, "Hurry up and get dressed. I wanna get out of here and get some food."

The Wayne brothers walked out the door and stood guard. As Damian got dressed, he wasn't sure what to make of the designer. He thought she was the designer's assistant with how young she was, like all those meek women his father hired. His parents taught him how to read people and he couldn't do that with her. Marinette was fiery and spoke her mind. She had barely even looked at him, too focused on her task and numbers. She had laughed at him! He could only assume she had picked up her former model, judging by the cast, and informed him he was going to sleep.

He didn't expect to see her again on their way out.

"Hey, Miss Designer, do you know where we can find some really good sweets?" Jason asked, "Like a café or something?"

"Coffee, please!" Tim whined.

She smiled, "My parents own the best bakery in Paris. You can find it on Rue Street. You can't miss it. It's a white and black store front with gold letters."

Damian grabbed Marinette's hand and kissed it, "See you in two days."

"Little D!" Dick whispered in shock.

"My apologies." he smirked, "I figured it was better than a kiss on the cheek you are accustomed to since you do not know me."

Her cheeks bloomed pink and she quickly pulled her hand out of his grip. She turned around and ordered someone to get a pot of coffee started. Damian smirked.

'Seems she may just be as eager to see me again. A game of war, perhaps? Who would submit first?'

"Demon Spawn?" Jason questioned.

"I'm already fluent in French, but did none of you study the customs or culture?" He asked, "It's common here to be kissed. As I stated, I didn't want to make her uncomfortable. We get enough of that at those galas Father forces us to go to and I'm not going to be the reason Father gets called."

As they walked to the car, he could hear his brothers groaning on how it was common to kiss someone, mostly on the cheek. They had all checked their phones. It was fine to let them think that for awhile.

Have you seen the trailer for the remake of The Crow? If so, what do you think?

OH man okay.

Im not a fan of what I've seen so far if I'm being honest. I'm not like OH BROOO they'll never top the original or anything (there's been at least two remakes of The Crow already), I don't mind a remake tbh. What bothers me I think is that it's missing the unique and clear design choices that the original had. It just doesn't look recognizable as The Crow to me. lemme grab some examples

The Crow (2024)

The Crow (1994)

now I might just be cherry picking, but the 1994 one has a distinct look about it, while 2024 looks just. Hollywood I suppose? everything from the lighting to the costumes. I can think of so many movies that look like this one. I'd argue that The Batman (2022) looks more like The Crow (as it was an inspiration) than the remake is looking. I think it's because I just haven't seen clear design choices being made. it's not goth, it's not punk, it's not grunge, it's just...something. the original goes for it's aesthetics as far as they can be pushed.

to me, a lot of the appeal of the original is that it's...outlandish. it's weird, even cringe worthy at times, and completely genuine. it goes for the goth look as much as possible, and does so unapologetically. the remake to me looks very clean and slick, and if I'm being honest, I think it's a good example of what today's movies are (a lot of the time, not always); very safe style wise, doesn't research the subculture they're dipping into, and they don't want to be made fun of unless it can make them money from attention.

Now, I don't want to be that person expecting a movie from 2024 to look like it was made in 1994. What I am saying is that it doesn't look like really anything.

I don't know ! Ive only seen the trailer and a few promos, maybe it'll be a great film, and I think Bill Skarsgard is a good actor. I like the clip of the trailer where he's being shot to pieces and simply gets up again. It's fun. Maybe the story will be as good as the original. Who knows!

I'm not sure honestly, I expected it to look worse, so I'm mildly excited for the movie. I'll just have to see :]

ok here's the movies low-down:

Batman VS TMNT was very good. short. enjoyable. ninjas. Ra's. furries. etc. a lot of the other animated Batman flicks take heavy inspo from 2010s comics so of course they are terrible but this one was a nice departure.

the Tim Burton movies are very good and fun Tim Burton movies but they are weird/mildly frustrating Batman movies. Michael Keaton is great at making Bruce weird. turtleneck. the music. the art. Michelle Pfeiffer. (these are the pros) Bruce kills. the Joker is in it lots. kind of weird but not always good weird ? Tim Burton's blonde love interest fetish. (these are the cons)

Batman Begins ? dated. kind of a slog. but overall I liked it.

The Dark Knight + the third one of that trilogy... boring. didnt care. got rid of homoerotic bruharvey subtext. uninspired. overrated. etc. didnt even ever watch TDKR because I was so bored and didnt caresies.

I havent ever watch the Schumacher ones.. . they look camp but kind of boring. like it's a messy kind of camp. not the cunty kind of camp I've come to expect from Batman.

obsessed with this in depth run down....!! thank you!!! i would probably start with tmnt and animated because i love my silly goofy good times and i think batman 2022 will be my 'ill watch this in october maybe' movie (<- guy who hasnt sat down through a movie in over a year) and i think the only burton movie ive ever seen was the remake of charlie and the chocolate factory so i dont have much to draw on from there!

i know nothing about the plots of any of the others but i do think george clooney from the schumacher ones is so hot... i can deal with messy camp because i think that can be so fun if its a result of earnestness but if its from being boring and just poorly made out of lack of caring then all energy gets zapped out of it :(( and michael keaton is hot for forever with his cunty turtleneck but i only know him from white noise... the idea of a bruce that kills is. bad. and concerns me but also it has michelle pfeiffer which cancels out a lot of complaints i could have.... decisions decisions...

#a friend told me before that its fascinating experiencing media through my eyes and i think its so funny in times like this #where i had to google who tim burton is and what hes made (apparently the hot topic movie)#but the Michael Keaton Batman one is so disappointing to hear that he just fucking kills someone like thats the one thing he doesn't do guys #shumacher is even more less knowledge. his are the one with the nipple suit and might have had twink riddler?? maybe.#and i fully forgot ben affleck was batman in some movies. to me he is the sad but silly meme guy when my hockey team is losing :)#but again!!! thank you so much for writing this out for me mwah mwah love you forever !!! <333 #matty tag

Bobby ended up being first in the lineup!! I have a few headcanons regarding how the team works in the Grid

First, since programs generally can't change their circuit color, the uniforms are a specific circuit pattern for each team, instead of having team colors. There will probably be a simple insignia they can each display, like how the tetromino in the circle became the Tron Lives symbol.

Bobby is a pretty young program, like the rest of his disc wars team. He's from Tron City originally, and he either is an ISO or is very close to a few of them. He takes an interest in how their expression differs from BASICs. He's probably originally programmed for art, but he really admires Tron and he's attended a lot of Games. He's reaching outside of his programming to become a disc fighter.

If this ends up being an au I will probably sideline the Occupation

Hello everyone and welcome to the new and improved Heisen-Shrine!

You guys know the drill! Here I post all kinds of awesome self shipping things, and now I have six f/os and plenty of love to go around.

I can't believe I now have as many f/os as Henry the 8th had wives, but at least I haven't killed any of my guys...yet lol. I'm mostly a villain shipper, but I've dipped my toes into anti-hero territory over the years. Most of my F/Os are villains, and that's okay. They hate everyone else but they love me ^^

Meet my guys!

Karl Heisenberg- the main man! I married this man Halloween of 2022 and we're still going strong. We also have an adopted son, Nanaue from the Suicide Squad. Karl is probably the most prominently featured f/o on here, and I love him to bits. He's encouraging, sweet, makes cool stuff, and is really big about my own creative endeavors. We support each other and make everything work <3

Astarion- the vampire from Baldur's Gate 3, I absolutely adore him. Normally vamps aren't my thing but this guy's got me by the throat with his sass and unabashed honesty. He's the sassy pansexual boyfriend I feel everyone needs in life ^.^

Elijah Kamski- Elijah is admittedly more of a familial f/o rather than a romantic one. But even so he's important to me and seems to be the perfect brother figure. He's helped me through a lot of my own sibling related trauma and I'm really thankful for that. If you need practical or technical advice, Elijah is my go to guy :)

Otto Octavius- from the Raimi-verse spider-man movies. I've loved this man since I was a child, and he's the oldest of my f/os on here. Partly familial, Partly romantic, my relationship with Otto can be rather complicated. Sometimes we don't even really know what we are to each other and I feel that's okay. He's a great man and I love him so much ^^

Oswald Cobblepot- from the Reeves-verse batman. He's a little out of the ordinary for me but I find we just click. He genuinely cares about me and was there when I was going through a very difficult period when I first moved to this new town. In a way he's my backbone and I appreciate it a ton :)

Rabban- from the 2021 Remake of Dune. This is my most recent F/O. He got my attention about two or three years ago but I really wasn't sure where I stood with him. To a degree we're still figuring everything out. Yes while he's brutal, he's been oddly nothing but kind to me and has been there for me in recent weeks. He's very much interested in my world, and I'm very much into his ^.^

1. This isn't a Fandom blog per se, but I'd appreciate no Fandom drama on here.

2. Please be nice to me and my guys, we're really just trying here lol.

3. Keep the thirst to a minimum. I get it my guys are good looking, but they're more than that. Feel free to ask them or myself anything.

4. I try to be respectful of other self ships. If I'm shipping with any character that my followers aren't comfortable I fully respect your right to unfollow and block if you need to. I have no desire to make anyone feel uncomfortable or disrespected. I personally don't mind sharing but I know there's a few people who want their f/os to be exclusive to them and that is ABSOLUTELY valid! If you need to leave/block the blog it's perfectly fine and I understand.

5. I don't tolerate hate of any kind. If your only purpose is to come on to this blog and be an asshole you can move right along.

6. I don't think I personally classify myself as pro-ship, I am normally ship and let ship but I do have limits. Yes I know the difference between fiction and IRL but for me personally it all comes down to taste if that makes sense. Self shipping is a spectrum, and I'm on the end of not shipping with people who are far younger than you if you're a grown person. Two consenting adults is fine, but I don't wanna hear some nonsense about how "Oh well this young looking character is actually 1000 years old" or wtf ever. If it looks like a duck, acts like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it's a duck, understand?

7. Speaking of ages, I am 30+. I honestly do not feel comfortable with people following me who are under the age of at least 20. It's nothing against anyone personally, but in my opinion if you still have teen at the end of your age, you're still a teenager to me. Granted I don't post adult content, but to be on the safe side if you're under the age of 20 please don't follow me. Thanks <3

8. Feel free to come on here and tell me about your f/os! I'm always happy to hear about anything you guys are doing together! I like to see others happy and how their relationships are going! If you need to vent, I'm always here too! I'd like to make more friends in this community.

Where Is The Next DreamWorks Movie?

Looking at all the official American slates for Universal Pictures, it would appear that DreamWorks Animation is released only one picture this calendar year, and that would happened to be a seemingly-untitled TROLLS sequel. The third overall, of course.

What is not known is that DreamWorks actually has a picture coming out this year, before TROLLS 3 debuts in the autumn. An original picture, at that. Apparently, the plan behind closed doors is to release one original movie and one sequel every calendar year. So far, we do know that DreamWorks intends to release KUNG FU PANDA 4 in the late winter of 2024, but nothing else is on their schedule besides that film and TROLLS 3. Not even a placeholder, you know, the sort of "Untitled DreamWorks"... The other animation studio that operates under Universal, the ever reliable hit-makers Illumination Entertainment, have MIGRATION set in stone for 12/22/2023 and DESPICABLE ME 4 inked for 7/3/2024. Nothing beyond that, though they do have various pictures in development. There's also, curiously, an untitled animated feature release from Universal set for 2/8/2024... Is this a DreamWorks movie? Likely not, if KUNG FU PANDA 4 is opening in March of that year. Two that close to each other? I don't think that's happening. Illumination? Maybe. A February release would be new for them... It could also be... Since Universal now owns the rights to this particular movie franchise... The next LEGO movie... After all, THE LEGO MOVIE and THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE opened in February to much success, THE LEGO MOVIE 2: THE SECOND PART - sadly - not so much. Maybe KUNG FU PANDA 4 takes that February slot and abandons March, with the 2nd DWA title that year opening in the fall.

Anyways, I'll get on with it... There's stuff out there that confirms this... DreamWorks' next movie is a picture about sea monsters, it's titled MEET THE GILLMANS. It's on a Universal slate from Switzerland that pegs it at 6/30/2023, it's also been mentioned in various European marketing and promo stuff. There's concept art and images floating around the webs, too. The movie exists, yet it doesn't... Now, it's one thing to start a marketing campaign a mere four to five months before release. After all, Universal/DreamWorks did just that with THE BAD GUYS this past year and that film - budgeted at roughly $80m - did rather fine for itself. *But*, we knew the film *existed* as far back as 2018, when DreamWorks optioned the book series for a feature adaptation... There has been no formal announcement whatsoever with MEET THE GILLMANS. Only through tiny out-of-the-way scoop sites that I've never heard of and the title appearing on staffers' LinkedIn profiles and resumes. One of the hosts of the podcast Fine Tooning, without naming the movie, says it's coming out prior to TROLLS 3... Which, by the way, is actually called TROLLS BAND TOGETHER. Universal has yet to disclose that to the American public. The Swiss slate seems to indicate that TROLLS BAND TOGETHER, currently scheduled to release 11/17/2023, will open in mid-October instead. Which seems smart, because the current date puts it five days before Disney Animation's celebratory centennial musical fantasy WISH, which is sure to be the inverse of STRANGE WORLD and will make a good amount of money.

Curiously, 6/30/2023 puts MEET THE GILLMANS very close to... Pixar's ELEMENTAL, Sony's ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE, and Disney's live-action/VFX-heavy LITTLE MERMAID remake... Until addition to a ton of blockbuster tentpoles.

A little while back, the original plan was to have an original picture open 3/24/2023. This was back when PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH carried a 9/23/2022 release date, and THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE was set for Christmas 2022. MARIO was pushed to 4/7/2023 to coincide with the opening of Super Nintendo World in Universal Studios Hollywood. So that put PUSS in the Christmastime frame, and also made MIGRATION - ahem - migrate to Christmas 2023. GILLMANS has, rather covertly, taken MIGRATION's original intended summer slot. Or so it seems...

But why not mid-March for MARIO? Or better yet, March 10th? You know, MAR10? It's not like March is really stuffed... Like, does a SHAZAM! sequel that's kinda meaningless now in the grand scheme of things and a DUNGEONS & DRAGONS movie pose any kind of threat to the freakin' Super Mario Bros.? I think what could've worked well was having MARIO make March its domain, while MEET THE GILLMANS could open in late April - much like how THE BAD GUYS did - and get the jump on the family competition from LITTLE MERMAID, ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE, and ELEMENTAL.

I don't believe in family films and animated films "cannibalizing" each other at the box office, but options are *slim* when it comes to affordability. If the average American family hit the flicks four times a calendar year back in 2014, think of how many times they can manage now, especially in the post-outbreak times we're living in. Ya know? MEET THE GILLMANS presumably cost around the same amount of money the previous string of DWA titles did (PUSS cost $90m, BAD GUYS about $80m, BOSS BABY around $82m), so not too too much is riding on it. If anything, I'm more worried about the Pixar film making back its presumably astronomical budget than this movie, but it'd suck to see another DreamWorks movie tank. Maybe there's no need to worry and they know how they're going to ride this all out...

That being said, it would be nice to know about the movie in question since it's less than half a year away at this point.
