Me: How sad that the lawyer won’t be Harvey 🥲
Harvey:
Tumblr media
Can I just be emotional for a sec because this is the first time I read about Harvey retaliating against his dad? Most of the times we never knew how he got out of it—did something happen? Two-Face maybe? Did it stop once he left for college? Because of this, I have thought about the various scenarios many times for my version of Harvey but to actually see it in comic, I feel somewhat validated and emotional lmfao 🥲🥲🥲
Also earlier in the comic

Meat Marionette Thoughts: Alfred
So there was already the thought of Alfred's body being in the Hive far longer than the rest because he doesn't need it for a long time. And I am just rotating him now and thinkin about what type of effect that could have on the body. Now @phoenixcatch7 put out the idea of his outfit being similar to a plague doctor's in his flesh-body, which I am just in love with as an entire concept into my head. But there was another where most would think he has tiny wings because they're well, under a feathered cape. But they are not, like I like to think that all of their wings get larger with age. Like Bruce already has a 50' wingspan as an adult, but Alfred is an elder of sorts, one whose body has been directly in the hive growing and mutating for years at this point. So his wings would be massive.

This action-packed graphic novel based on the New York Times bestselling book by Marie Lu transports readers to the shadowy gates of Arkham Asylum, where Gotham City's darkest mysteries reside...and which now threatens to imprison Bruce Wayne.
A ruthless new gang of criminals known only as Nightwalkers is terrorizing Gotham, and the city's elite are being taken out one by one. On the way home from his 18th birthday party, newly minted billionaire Bruce Wayne makes an impulsive choice that puts him in their crosshairs and lands him in Arkham Asylum, the once-infamous mental hospital. There, he meets Madeleine Wallace, a brilliant killer...and Bruce's only hope. Madeleine is the mystery Bruce must unravel, but is he convincing her to divulge her secrets, or is he feeding her the information she needs to bring Gotham City to its knees?

Batman: Nightwalker; Marie Lu, Stuart Moore, Chris Wildgoose 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
*SOME SPOILER CONTENT*
I really like this one as well as Gotham high I love the storyline, I love the villain if you could really call her that, and I especially love how they made 18-year-old Bruce Wayne it just feels like that's how he would be, and look like, and I honestly really like the twist in the end! If you are a Batman or a Gotham fan, I would definitely recommend reading this!

Weekly Fic Recs 28
Tumblr updated the post thingy so now I have to relearn it again. Wish me luck! Enjoy the fic recs!
Would you like to be my stepfather? by Speechless_since_1998 - Superbat, wip. The batkids ask Clark why he isn't they're step dad yet. It's adorable.
NA NA NA NA NA Batdad! by nightwalker - Batfam, complete. Ollie notices that Batman and Bruce Wayne have the same mug. What a coincidence! (Right??? RIGHT???)
Only Love Can Last by River9Noble - Twobats/Bruharvey, complete. A look at Bruce and Harvey's relationship. Short, but very sweet 💕
Fear Is Fading Fast by River9Noble - Twobats/Bruharvey, complete. A companion to the above fic. Harvey and Two Face go to therapy and deal with their feeling for Bruce (especially after Bruce gets injured).
Just A Little Bit... by HaleHathNoFury (My_Trex_has_fleas) - Superbat, wip. Creepy, haunted Wayne family and Alien Clark, what's not to love? I was very excited when this fic updated multiple times!! I did some happy dances! And then started screaming "NO" at my computer when I saw the most recent update :) Very good fic, give it a read!
big pockets & juice boxes by majorlachdown - Batfam, complete. Bruce turns into a purse mom when he starts collecting kids.
Patchwork Pod by Ktkat9 - Superbat, wip. More of the mer bruce fic! A Timothy has been acquired!
Foreign Object by audreycritter - Batfam, complete. Bruce gets seriously ill, and the whole family comes together to deal with it. Part of a series! I'm in the middle of the next fic of the series, called Developmental Milestones, and I'm enjoying the heck out of that one too!
borderline by TheResurrectionist - Batfam, wip. More of the batfam hivemind fic! The family is starting to get a hang of the shared mind thing, and go up to the Watchtower together, which is one of my favorite scenes so far :)
Brush-a-bye baby by iselsis - Batfam, complete. Bruce comforts a recently found Cass. Very sweet fic.
Bruce is - involuntarily, if he may add - the president of Gotham series by soyasauce - Batfam, with a little Superbat if you squint. Fics are complete. Gotham declares independence and Bruce is made president. Shenanigans ensue.
Dog the Dog - Jason Todd's Best Friend series by Acin_Grayson, Ao3time - Batfam, first two fics complete. Batman finds both Jason and Dog stealing his tires, and adopts both.
Through the haze by Mawiiish - Superbat, complete. Bruce is exposed to a new form of Black Mercy, and has trouble getting out of it. Clark helps him, and Bruce has trouble dealing with his feeling over what he saw in the Black Mercy dreams. Clark also dealing with Feelings ™ too. Lot's of good, good hurt/comfort and flangst (fluff and angst, heehee).

Hiii do u have any comic recs with a young Bruce?
I’ve heard abt the dark Halloween but I’m not as interested in the joker… I read year one (rlly good). The nightwalkers comic adaptation felt like fanfiction…
Year one focused more on how Batman came to be but I wished I could read smth more Bruce focused, if u know what I mean! (Nightwalkers had terrible themes and even poorer execution lol)
I’m mostly wanting to delve on his relationships with other people, I watched the first Nolan movie and thought it was rlly entertaining! I especially liked Rachel, bc I’m a romantic… sorry. But yeah ! Thank u sm ^__^
Batman: The Knight is a frankly delightful miniseries specifically about Bruce's training days abroad before he returns to Gotham! It doesn't have much to do with Bruce's romantic relationships (he has a girlfriend named Dana in it, but she's really only seen in flashbacks and not a very prominent character), but it's a very interesting exploration of how Bruce becomes Batman.
Otherwise...this is basically the premise of Zero Year. If you read the synopsis of that story, you might notice a lot of similarities between the premize of Zero Year and the plot of The Batman (2022). That's because Matt Reeves drew a lot of inspiration from Zero Year's plot when making that movie. So if you liked that depiction of Bruce, you'll probably like Zero Year.
Another early years!Batman comic you might enjoy is Batman: Dark Moon Rising, which collects two miniseries: Batman and the Monster Men and Batman and the Mad Monk. They both take place in between Batman: Year One and The Man Who Laughs (Bruce's first time fighting the Joker).
If you want to delve into young!Bruce's relationships with other people, you should read Detective Comics #457 and Detective Comics #574 for stories focused on Bruce's relationship with Leslie Thompkins, who in modern continuity helped raise Bruce alongside Alfred. You might also find Batman: Year Three to be of interest to you. It was the first "big" modern retelling of Dick Grayson's origin and how he became Robin.
Romance-wise, early days Comics!Bruce dated actress Julie Madison (they were actually engaged at one point!). I'm not the best person to give recs for her, unfortunately, since her appearances are mostly confined to Golden Age comics and the New 52.
However, if you're interested in young!Bruce's romances regardless of whether they're comic canon or not...go watch Mask of the Phantasm. Frankly, you should do it even if you aren't. It's an absolutely incredible movie and honestly everyone should watch it. 10/10, top-tier drama and a top-tier Batman movie.

Even more Meat Marionettes

So with them drinking Lazarus water in their second bodies I am debating on their flesh, like the insides of their mouths and such being a bright lazarus green. Maybe their blood glows green under a blacklight.
Honestly Bruce is definitely the first to get a body, and I feel like these three depictions of his, Kate's, and Alfred's are later ones and that the first ones have more exposed muscle and flesh, at least right after they emerge from the Hive. It's about that time that if they really want things changed about the bodies that they do so. I like to think that Bruce dipped his claws in metal but later found that said claws were now actually made of said metal after about a week or so. Which is also when they probably realize that the bodies are evolving as they control them.
Alfred probably had a body next, just never went down in the Hive so it was in stasis within the deeper caves for a very long time. Which I feel like they do eventually make walkways of sorts to the deeper tunnels after several of the kids get the call down or suddenly waking up in a completely new form. His I feel has more gnarled looking spikes and claws because it's been un-used for so long. Not to mention that he's up right above the tunnels for quite a bit longer than the rest of the batfam seeing as he's not going out as an active vigilante.
I feel like Kate's body is still more fleshy colored for longer because she spends so much time in Bludhaven. The tunnels do reach the sister city, but they're shallower, newer and not as ancient as the depths below Gotham. Eventually if becomes so in line with the rising mythology about her that the red and fleshy-colored patterns stay. Also kind of random but Kate knows how to use guns seeing as she's military trained. So imagine if a 10'+ monstrosity that was already kicking your ass suddenly picked up your gun lmao

Wanna know your thoughts on something.
Have you read any of the DC icons book series?
It's different origin stories for different characters redone. (In case you don't know about/of it)
The books (so far) are:
Wonder Woman: Warbringer
Batman: Nightwalker
Catwoman: Soulstealer
Superman: Dawnbreaker
Black Canary: Breaking Silence
And they're are 2 books for Harley Quinn, though they're going to release a third and have it as a trilogy, so far there are:
Harley Quinn: Reckoning and Harley Quinn: Ravenous
Anyway, have you heard of these books? Have you read any of them?? If so, what so you think!? I LOVE them, personally!
Hope I didn't ramble too much or anything.
I did hear about them, but I haven't read any of them except the free first chapter of Catwoman's book because I heard Talia appeared in it and..........I really didn't like what they did to her character (Talia being portrayed horribly in a Catwoman's story? Shocking), but I haven't heard any of my fellow Talia's fans complaining about this book after it was released, so I'm assuming they didn't butcher her too much?
I have had a similar issue to Harley Quinn: Ravenous, I haven't actually read the book, but the summary mentioning Talia being an inmate in Arkham for trying to kill Gotham's Mayor then becoming a "mentor" to young Harley just left a really bad taste in my mouth, because none of those things sound like something she would actually want to do.
And I know that you're a huge Harley's fan, so I feel bad saying this, but personally I can never enjoy modern-interpretation of Harley and I don't really want Talia (or any of my favorite characters really) to be in the same story as her post-2016, because I know that between them and Harley, DC will always choose to make the other character look bad instead of Harley.
