I'm back working on #1 or 6 again. Pinning the batting on.
I layout a plain white cotton sheet, then lay the batting on top of the sheet. Next I lay the top on the batting and pin the heck out of it. Once all pinned, I take it my sewing machine to sew the edges and do my quilt stitching.
Once the quilting is done I will layout my backing, usually flannel or fleece, on my table and put the top (with batting) on it. I will wrap the backing around to the top to make my edging. I don't do a seperate fabric edging. I again pin the edging in place and repin the whole top to the backing.
I do a fancy stitching around the edging and then will do a seam or two across the quilt to hold the backing in place. And it will be done.
This quilt will have a matching Purple Flannel backing.

So I'm using this bag pattern for my step 1 on the pattern school challenge (yes, I'm doing it along with everyone else, because I have to get tutorial pictures somehow, and because I want to make stuff), and I'm having some trouble.
Trouble #1, ignoring this safety pin that's just obviously hanging out there.
Trouble #2, pattern envelope says you need cardboard. McCall's, this isn't fucking 7th grade art and home ec, this is EGL, and we're not going to use cardboard.
Trouble #2, instructions: Cut 2 of batting.
Me: Okay, what kind of batting?
Instructions: Batting
Me: You mean low loft or high loft?
Instructions: Batting
Me: the polyester kind that's like a flat cloud or the cotton kind that's flat and squishy
Instructions: Batting
Me: There's literally over 70 kinds of batting in the 10' square that my local craft store has dedicated to batting and the words you're using are nothing without context
Instructions: Batting.
I've read the whole damn envelope from top to bottom and I do not get any more information than that.

I need to decide what kind of quilt batting to use for a pair of wall hangings. Cotton? Wool? I dislike polyester anything.

Mini battle story featuring Peter Davison and Jon Pertwee.
I had to make one of the prompts quickly, plus I like putting everything on random situations.
Hope you like it!

Attention Project Linus Volunteers, Hospice Quilters and/or any other Charity Quilters or Crafters!
I have 8-10 large trash bags full of scrap fabric, fleece and notions and a huge box of batting available to donate.
The fabric is mixed. Meaning some cotton, some flannel, some knit, some polyester, some blends. Various size pieces from small to 1 yard. These are great for Fidget Quilts, Scrappy Quilts, Applique or other craft projects.
The batting is mostly a poly batting which is great for puffy quilts or using as stuffing.
These are all Free to any group(s) that make quilts for charity, you will just need to come and get them. (Marysville, WA) I can also ship a box or two anywhere in the USA if you pay the shipping.
If you don't do work for charity but are interested in the fabric or batting for your crafts to sell I am willing to sell you a box or two at $2.00 per pound. Just tell me how many pounds you would like and I will be happy to help.
If interested please private message me.
