Sorry for the shitty screenshot but I'm obsessed with the look that Fanny and the Captain give each other in 5x06 after they've both bungled social interactions with Allison.
They're both just like 😬😥😅 solidarity...

i dont have this as a coherent argument but there's something about bbc ghosts that is just so much more. genuine? than the american one. and I only watched like 2 episodes of the cbs one but still. to me i think it suffered from that marvel-ification "he's behind me isnt he?" wink wonk cheesy like. exaggeration in a way that wasnt purposeful or sincere. the whole everyone is beautiful and no one is horny situation. whereas in bbc ghosts the whole show is a little bit rough around the edges and ugly and imperfect in a way that makes it infinitely more endearing. I'd rather watch a theater production where someone occasionally misses a cue but the people care and have something to say, rather than a perfectly airbrushed and photoshopped one that talks a lot and says nothing. yknow?

Thomas Thorne is the human equivalent of the noise that a laminated sheet of paper makes when you flap it around

Ghosts go to the beach!
Kitty: builds a sandcastle, makes sand angels, swims in the sea and looks for little fish to make friends with.
Captain: helps Kitty with her sandcastle - nay, her sand citadel. What's he making now - oh my god, it's a scale sand replica of a WWII submarine, how is he doing that, oh my god no don't put a limpet mine on it what are you doing -
Pat: self-appointed life guard, buys everyone fish and chips, chases away seagulls. Organises a volleyball tournament like in Top Gun.
Robin: digs holes. Lots of holes. I don't know why.
Julian: plays volleyball VERY AGGRESSIVELY and gets a bad sunburn. He heads straight for the nude beach once he's done. Throws sand at Mary.
Thomas: on the other side of the volleyball court. Trying to show off his ✨beach body✨ but Alison isn't really looking.
Humphrey: one whole Humphrey Bone! Yay! He gets sunburned and spends the whole time reading under a parasol he brought with him.
Fanny: judges the swimsuits of everyone on the beach. At one point she wanders off and ends up on the nude beach. You can imagine how that goes.
Mary: shouts at seagulls, gets scared by a starfish. She goes rockpooling with Pat and Kitty. Robin shows up and tries to eat a hermit crab.
