nalu headcanon

i’ve had this hc stuck in my head for DAYS that ever since natsu and lucy became best friends and really solidified their friendship (for me i feel like that’s the phantom arc but you know it’s up for debate for everyone) they’ve regularly said “i love you” to each other because they really do hold so much love for one another even if it’s platonic.

they’ll use it in the most casual ways like when separating in the store so lucy can get the veggies and natsu can get the meat for dinner, before saying goodbye to each other on the phone, or before saying goodnight before bed. they use it on missions when they have to split up/go off in groups. they say it at random in the guild and no ones shocked bc, you know, they’re best friends and natsu’s become such an affectionate person ever since lucy came around (i mean the guy picked lucy up off her feet and spun her around in a bear hug when she came back from her first solo mission, whispering into her hair how much he missed her when the job was literally only two days)

they’ll use it in serious occasions. they use it before battles that range from quiet whispers before going off into chaos to loud screams of reassurance across the field. they use it when one of them is dangerously injured and is getting treated by wendy, clutching onto their hand and whispering it like a prayer. they use it after they’ve won and are supporting each other’s weight onto the train on their way home.

sometimes they don’t even have to say it. it’s in eye contact across the room, in small smiles and bright grins. it’s in lucy grabbing natsu’s wrist when she feels his temper rising. it’s in natsu putting an arm around her shoulder when she’s tense and uncomfortable.

and somewhere along the way, it became more. it was more than just best friends expressing their love. it was no longer platonic. the lines between “i love you” and “i’m in love with you” became blurred. (of course neither one of them said a thing about it despite feeling the change, the idiots hate confronting their emotions.) but yknow, maybe they didn’t even have to say anything at all. knowing was enough for them. after all, they did say they’d be together forever. they had all the time in the world for confrontation.

BEFORE !

Lavender was raised by her dads in Portaland, Oregan. One of them was a carpenter and owned a custom furniture store and taught her how to use his power tools when she was old enough.

Her other dad was an artist and jumped from different mediums. One day he was painting, the next he was sculpting, the next he was weaving, or candle making or trying to make sculptures out of tempered chocolate (that one ended terribly for him, but pretty well for his husband and daughter who got to eat his failed projects)

Lav has always been pretty handy and crafty, so she started a Youtube channel to post her DIY projects and gained a pretty decent following. Because she didn’t want to use her real name, she went with an alias and dubbed her channel honeyhacks!

Trying to branch out on her channel and make it her full time career, Lav started a series where she dabbled in other youtubers fields. She decided to collab with a gamer to test out Velia for the first time.

AND AFTER !

Starting out, Honey joined Blood Oath because they seemed to be the stereotypical Good Guys. She wasn’t very good at fighting hand to hand, but learned to get her magic to help in battles for the first few hours.

Her friend was a pretty good fighter and protected her when she failed, and when Honey finally decided to call it quits (good naturedly, she wasn’t too much of a sore loser) they discovered the log out sign was grayed out. They’d been trying to log out for a few minutes when Aspens’ message was sent.

After realizing she wasn’t getting out any time soon, Honey tried to make the best of things. She maxed out her crafting skills and started selling anything she could make.

Her specialty, as it turned out, was soap. Artisan soap. It wasn’t the basic soap you could get in your drop pack, it was made with essential oils, dried flowers, pieces of dried fruit, colored with handmade dyes.

And then floor 52 opened up and her business suffered a dry spell what with mini marts selling irish spring for like two pieces of gold. This caused her to expand her business to include custom armor and weaponry since apparently ppl would rather buy manufactured cheap soap or whaTEVER

She also embroiders clothing if you wanted something a little fancy, a little bit of floral embroidery along the edge of a cloak, your name embroidered along your guild uniform, even bigger pieces for patches.

Meanwhile in Blood Oath... she felt a bit invisible. There are hundreds of players in the guild and though she attended group meetings and ate lunch in the hall most days, she didn’t really feel like she was part of the guild, especially because she wasn’t a fighter.

Then Jupiter died. And honestly? She wants to fucking go home. She misses her dads, she misses the biggest problem of her day being her broken ring light and running out of wood glue.

So the Revenants are like "hey, we wanna get OUT OF HERE" and she's like “you know what? me too. i can't do much in way of fighting BUT i can make you guys some weapons, i can do the upkeep, i can enchant them with some Heavy Stuff to kill those monsters and bosses bc i want to GO HOME”

She doesn’t really think anyone noticed that she left, even though she stepped forward at the funeral, watched her white and yellow cloak go green, and collected her belongings that night.

SInce joining the Revenants, she’s been trying to get further in the game if only to get home. Anything they ask for, she’s got.
