doing the TC challenge bc i feel i haven’t really introduced my TC :))

1. describe your tc's physical appearance.

~ roughly 5’0, blonde hair with brown roots, wears glasses , has blue eyes and thin lips

2. what was the first thing you've ever said to your tc?

~ i was lost on the first day because i read my timetable wrong so she gave me directions

3. is your tc single or taken? or are you unsure? and are you single or taken?

~ married for 26 years but it’s okay i can fix her, i’m very single

4. is your tc more of the athletic type, the nerdy type or the artsy type?

~ mix of nerdy and artsy, very appreciative of culture, arts and literature, whilst also very interested in etymology and grammar.

5. if you and your to were in high school together, do you think you'd be friends?

~yesss we’re the only people at the school who like her subject so i think we’d have that in common, plus we have a very similar set of interests and want the same things in life sooo!!

6. name one song that reminds you of your tc and explain why that song reminds you of them.

~ very simple, just blazers and trousers with the occasional scarf (suits her so well tho, im weak in the knees fr), i’ve seen pictures of her in jeans tho and i’d sell my soul to see that irl

8. would you be willing to become a teacher and teach your tc's subject if it meant you two could be together?

literally what i want to do in the future

9 . does your tc drink or smoke?

~ she drinks but hates smoking and vaping

10. name one item that is always on your tc's desk.

~ idk man that thing is a mess, but she has like unnecessarily big post it notes that she loves sm??

11. has your to ever done anything that has either thrown you off, annoyed you, angered you or bothered you in any way? if so, what did they do?

~ deadnamed me 💀 but she apologised and now we’re bffs so it’s okay

12. does your tc have any past jobs that you know of, before becoming a teacher?

~ waitressing apparently?? but i think that’s just when she was at uni, she’s always been a teacher

13. does your tc have kids or siblings? if so, how many:

~ 3 siblings and 2 children

14. are you taking your tc's class next year?

~ thankfully yes, but it’s my last year with her im gonna be so sad :((

15. has your tc ever met your parents? if you were there, what was the meeting like?

~ yes several times, they’re all very kind to each other but sometimes i complain to her abt my parents so idk how she actually feels abt them lol

16. has your tc ever given you detention? if so, what was it like?

~ never i’m a child of god

17. has your tc ever failed you? if so, how did you react? if not, how would you react?

~ no , i revise her subject for hours a week so i’d be so pissed if i ever did

18. what are your tc's hobbies/interests? are they similar to yours?

~ we have similar interests bc we both like her subject and i’m pretty sure she enjoys photography. i think that she used to knit bc we always talk about that but idk if she still does

19. have you ever spoken on the phone with your tc? what did you talk about?

~ once but before i was attached to her, it was during lockdown and she wanted to tell me how much she liked my work

20. if you had your tc's class during quarantine, what were your zoom calls like? if not, have you spoken to your tc since quarantine?

~ i don’t really remember but i’d love to sit on call with her now LMAO

21. if you had the chance to go anywhere in the world with your tc, where would you go? what would you do?

~ i’d take her to the sagrada familia bc she loves it (and you can get married there)

22. does your tc have any nicknames for you?

~ no but she thoroughly enjoys seeing me in the corridor and just shouting HUMAN at me

23. have you ever cried in front of your tc? why? how did they react?

~ many times, but she’s very sweet and just lets me sit and process whatever is going on, or tries to distract me as much as possible, and it’s against guidelines to touch me but she said she wished she could give me a big hug sooo

24. have you ever walked/drove to/from school with your tc?

~ noo we live on opposite ends of our town :((

25. do you know which teachers your tc is friends with at school? if so, do you like those teachers?

~ i’ve never really spoken to them much but they all seem quite sweet and i can see why she gets along with them

26. why does your tc's voice sound like?

~ yes, very, a little disorganised but she has the spirit!!

~ she used to read a lot but idk if she still does, but i think she prefers movies to shows

~ very strict, avid rule follower but she’s very sweet as long as you respect her wishes and it annoys me that people get so pissy with her about it?? just listen to her?????

30. how would you describe you and your tc's relationship?

~ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, i hope she likes me and i do think she does and she always seems quite happy to talk to me?

~ last name, it feels weird to call her by her first name

Once again seeing posts about radfems only criticize hijabs and not any other religions’ forced modesty like okay lol, this is my time to shine, I have such a bone to pick with Christianity. I had to veil in a Catholic Church to attend my aunt’s wedding. There was a little pamphlet explaining that veiling was a mark of respect towards women, since they were the vessels of life, and compared it to the veiling of the chalice used for the eucharist. My aunt was told by the priest that she better hurry up and start having kids before her womb shriveled up, haha. (She was in her late thirties and desperately wanted kids). I tore off my veil as soon as I got outside and refused to put it back on until my mom made go back inside for the pictures. I was an angry teen girl, and I was made angrier that I would go home in a few days, and have to face more modesty restrictions at my school and in my town. Now, we didn’t have to cover our heads, but shoulders and knees were verboten, and we would make fun of another school where girls had to wear ankle length skirts, because that school was “too strict”. We at least got to wear pants. I remember when my best friend, who had gone through puberty a little bit earlier than rest of us, was pulled aside by a teacher and told in no uncertain terms that she was showing too much cleavage and that she had to go and change. We were in middle school, and she was wearing the same simple crew neck shirts as the rest of us. She cried in the bathroom, and for years afterwards, she would always wear a camisole underneath all her shirts. I just gave up and wore nothing but long pants and skirts so I don’t have to endure the humiliation of having my shorts or skirts measured. I wore jackets all the time, so I wouldn’t have my shirts’ necklines scrutinized. We had similar rules in regards to our sportswear, certain length skirts and shorts, no bellies showing, and no wearing just a sports bra ever. This was particular issues with the girls tennis team, as we started training in late august in the American south, and would get so hot we wanted to strip off our shirts and pour cold water over ourselves. One girl did this, and brought out the school’s principle to yell at us about disrespecting the game, ourselves, and the school. Her shirt went back on. This was really irritating as the boys track team trained at the same time, and not only did the boys run shirtless, they wore the tiniest shorts that left nothing to the imagination. And they were never told off for being immodest. One year, the girls swim team had to take their yearbook photo in their school uniforms instead of their racing one pieces because it was too immodest. The boys team was photographed in their speedos and swim caps.

Maybe it’s because I grew up in the Bible Belt, but I am always hundred percent ready to levy any criticisms at Christianity’s modesty standard. We just didn’t cover our hair, but that doesn’t mean we weren’t still policed with same accusations of “slut” and “whore” when we stepped out of line. I was lucky, in that my parents didn’t particularly care what I wore as long I was neat and clean, but I knew girls whose parents would check over their clothes to make sure that they were modest enough before they went out the door.

I still struggle with wearing certain kinds of clothes. It’s summer right now and I’m wearing jeans, as I never show my legs unless I can help it, lol. The amount of times I skipped out of swimming bc I didn’t want to wear a bathing suite in front of people fills me with regret. My sister struggles from the same issues, and we didn’t even come from a religious family, this is just the attitude our town and region had towards women and girls’ bodies. I think head coverings and face veils are easy to point out, as the face and head are such important parts of human interaction, but modesty standards on general are terrible and should be critised regardless of religion, and I don’t think radfems pull any punches when it comes to Christianity lol.

There are some good books about American Christian modesty and purity culture that helped me to move forward, and well as making me extremely grateful to my relaxed and loving parents, especially my strong and independent mother who did her best to combat what the rest of the world was teaching us. “Pure: Inside the Evangelical Movement that Shamed a Generation of Young Women and How I Broke Free” by Linda Kay Klein is heartbreaking personal account of the American evangical purity movement, and I really recommend it to anyone who has been or is going through something similar. “The Purity Myth” by Jessica Valenti discusses how American culture deals with the concept of female virginity, and it’s consequences, and highlights a lot of the religious aspects involved therein. “I Fired God” by is Jocelyn Zichterman is the author’s personal memoirs of her life in and escape from a fundamentalist Baptist cult and it does touch on modesty standards and the consequences. And finally, there’s a book that I think every American radfem should read, which is “Quiverfull: Inside the Christian Patriarchy Movement” by Kathryn Joyce, which is a harrowing documentation of far right Christianity in the US and the wider world. It’s a tad bit outdated, as some of the major figures discussed, like Doug Phillips of Vision Forum, have fallen in scandal and disgrace, but it’s really important to read, especially in light of how politics in the US are moving against women right now.

“Hey little miss y/n..” he said sliding next to you slightly touching your arm, you felt electricity where he touched and took a moment to gather yourself quickly, “I don’t know where these usually go, you’re going to have to show me.” you said as you grabbed some bats, as he grabbed the mits and balls, “Yeah, of course don’t worry about it… I got you.” he said as he reached over you, his face so close to yours, you could smell his cologne mixed with sweat, so musky, so captivating.. “Are you gonna grab that?” he asked snapping you out of a trance, “Oh, fuck, shit! I mean shoot! Yeah..” he let out a deep chuckle as you scrambled to grab the last bat and followed him to the gymnasium where they kept the equipment.

“They usually go in here, make sure the door stopper stays there if the door closes we’ll be locked in.” he pointed to a small rubber door stopper as you two walked into the dimly lit closet, “God it’s so stuffy in here…” you set the bats down and began to put them in their holders, “and hot!” you continued as you fanned yourself, Hajime couldn’t help but stare at you as you bent over to pick up the bats and stand on your tippy toes to put them up, watching your shirt slightly lift up each time you reached above your head.

You could feel him staring at you, it made you nervous, dropping a bat you went to chase it immediately.. as did Hajime, the both of you bumped into each other and you flew back to the door hitting it shut. “Oh.. fuck.” Hajime said, scrambling to his feet to help you up, “Oh my god, I-I’m sorry!” you said taking his hand quickly getting up.

He tried to open the door but to no avail… Locked. He sighed and felt his pockets for his phone, only to remember that he left it with his kid, “Shit.. Do you have your phone? My kid has mine.” you frantically looked for yours, “Ummm.. Yes! I do!” as you took your phone out he quickly took it and put it on the a high shelf, that you couldn’t reach,

“Hajime! What!?” you jumped to try and reach the shelf, “Hajime this isn’t funny, it’s hot in here and your kid is outside!” he grabbed your hand that you had extended and pulled you closer to him, “My kids fine y/n…” he placed a hand on your cheek and ran his finger along the curve of your face, slowly, feeling the softness of your skin against his rough hands, you avoided his gaze looking to your right at the sports equipment,

he quickly placed his hand under your chin and forced you to look at him, “What’s the matter y/n? don’t like me being this..” he brought his face closer to yours you could feel the heat coming off his face, “close?” you gulped and slightly bit your lip, “No.. I-I like it…” you were melting into his touch,

with a swift move he pulled your other hand up and held both hands up by the wrist with one of his, pushing you up against the cluttered wall of the closet, letting out a small whimper he brought his face to your neck taking in your scent with a deep breath and letting out a deep groan, “Fuck, y/n you’re just so … intoxicating.” with his free hand he lifted up the hem of your shirt sliding his hand upwards,

“H-Hajime…” you breathed out, “does that feel good pretty girl?” your head spun at the pet name, “‘mm feels ..good” he began to leave small kisses on your neck leading up to your cheek, slowly moving towards your lips, your skin felt tingly everywhere he kissed.. “I’ve been wanting to get you alone…” he looked deep into your e/c eyes and studied your face. “I’ve been dying to have your lips on mine, your arms around me..”

he let your arms go, placing them on his shoulders, moving his one arm around your waist as his other hand stayed on your face, his thumb sliding slowly across your bottom lip.. your eyes moving from his lips, to his eyes. He moved in closer… Reaching above and behind you to grab your phone, you pouted and pulled him closer, he held up a single finger, to signal you to wait, as he called one of the parents outside,

“Hey! Belinda! Hi yeah, it’s Hajime, I left my phone with my kid, I’m using y/n’s phone, we’re locked in the damn closet please let us out it’s so hot,” he said winking at you, “we’ve been yelling for the past couple minutes hoping someone would hear!” his free hand moved to your waist and pulled you in close, “Great, thanks!” he hung up and slid your phone in your back pocket, lifting up your chin with his hand he leaned in to kiss you, keeping his hand on your face and waist, pushed you up against the wall again, kissing you slowly and deeply.

You both heard the gymnasium door open, quickly pulling away and composing yourselves, “Y/n! Hajime! Geez, I’m so sorry! The kids were so loud.” the both of you walked out of the closet and sighed in relief to be out of the closet, “Hey Belinda don’t even worry about it! At least you got us out!” Hajime said placing a hand on her shoulder, she smiled and began to walk back to the exit, “and as for you….” he grabbed a handful of your ass squeezing tightly, “i hope to continue this.. soon?” he said winking, “i could definitely switch weekends with my kids mother..” you let out a giggle, “i like the sound of that…”

Our Prenuptial Nightmare // Eisuke

hooray, finally the end to this dumb season LOL but i like this one a lot…… maybe it’s even the one from this season only worth reading (i havent read all of them tho)

well this one is actually kind of refreshing bc as i posted before, it’s abt the MC losing her memories. she’s not just a season 1 blank slate… she doesn’t remember anything after getting a job at the Tres Spades, so she barely remembers her own friends as well. yikesu

my rambling behind the cut

so eisuke honestly treats her the same as he always does, just obviously more distanced (im gonna read the His POV after this so idk rn). shes pretty spooked about this scary guy, maybe even more than she was in season 1 since he’s way more caring about her health or w/e despite being a CEO and all. for a pretty long time, he keeps her stuck in the hospital. he brings her a dvd that contains a media appearance of him publicly introducing her as his fiancée and she’s like “tf, is this a prank???” and all sorts of ppl visit her and stuff. shes still pretty much in disbelief about the whole thing until her parents come visit and they clearly know who this weird guy is

eventually she gets stuck in his penthouse instead. tbh she’s probably not “healthy” enough to work rn given that she doesn’t remember anything about her job, but she can’t even step one foot outside the room without soryu and his goons (appointed by eisuke) being like “HEY WAT U DOIN” so it’s kind of dull and jarring for her haha. later she finds a diary that she wrote in before her memory loss and she’s like “oh wow……. i was simpin that hard for this guy huh” (ok more like “wow, i really love this guy huh”… but i mean same thing). she also wants to make food for him and cooked up a risotto but since eisuke’s been busy af, she ends up falling asleep before he comes home (late) to eat it.

then eventually she presses forward about learning more bc she feels that eisuke is hiding a lot about himself, esp. in terms of what he does. and shes right abt that bc hes purposefully not saying anything abt the black market auctions, etc. eventually eisuke gives in and explains to her the whole 20m bid thing that started this whole romance. she tells him she wants to learn more, and so eisuke turns it into a whole date. They have a date that’s the “type of date for a first date”, and then it concludes with the inn at Kobe.

PART 2 eisuke makes it sound like hes gonna bone her but obv the guy is just teasing for the most part and it ends p cute bc he’s sweet (sweet for his standards) about it. later they go to that same petting zoo or w/e with the cute bunnies. lol eventually the same bunny that doesn’t seem to hate him shows up too. they end up bringing the rabbit home (the rabbit’s name is Maron, as in “chestnut”) to take care of. i guess maron is their animal bebe now it’s been like a month, so she returns to work eventually. hikaru notes that she’s doing pretty well for someone who doesn’t remember how any of this works. but then later, she passes out while remembering the strange discussion she overheard the day she lost her memories. eisuke goes WAH MC and then when she eventually wakes up and he’s like “it’s ok, dw abt it” while she’s like “bro i got something to tell u”. next day he tells her that he’s made her the Floor Leader of the eventual “Tres Spades Maldives”, but then she realizes during the flight that the man with her is not Eisuke, but Yuuma sent there to comfort her and also to do the Maldives business stuff. it’s obvious eisuke’s trying to separate from her. after all, it’s been a month and there’s no sign of her memories returning. he’s pretty blunt about organizing all of it without her realizing (wow what’s new). she’s really sad about it but relents and goes with it anyway. i mean eisuke is obviously pretty sad about it too since he parts with her with that genuine smile and says along the lines of “Don’t forget… that I’ve always loved your dumb face.” why i QQin BRO

well hikaru and yuuma are here in maldives so not too bad. also the penthouse bedroom is pretty good, it’s an aquarium lookin thing anyway so obv eventually the “generic gangster model” guy has to show up and kidnap her. well yuuma comes to the rescue and blahblah they want to murder her bc eisuke knew too much abt business nonsense going on again and then she dives into the sea. before she drowns, the real eisuke miraculously shows up to save her blahblah everyone else comes to save the day (2) and then they return to the Maldives suite. eisuke is like “smh i should’ve taught u how to protect urself” (…) “swear to me that u will not behave like an idiota ever again” and her memories come back after she goes “I can’t promise that (…) if you put yourself into danger, then I will continue to do the same” and has a flashback of his confessions from various seasons. HUGS lol that cg really has him going :I before a : )

everything goes back to normal, she finds a ring on her right hand and they’re wearing like… couple rings..... boi you guys are supposed to be married soon, just wait for those well fin. i skipped a buncha stuff in this “ramble” but yea my first impressions and all

I can't go into a lot of them because all/the majority of their clothes are for skinny/petite women and I can't fit into it. Plus, with all the good looking girls who work in those stores I can't help but compare myself and see the trash I am. it’s also funny you sent me this because I honestly believe that all the boys in bnha like chubby girls (but ofc they don’t discriminate)! im very genuine when i say that EVERYONE is their ideal type, and i could honestly talk for hours about how they’re too busy being heroes to give a crap about petty things such as looks and weight.

the truth is, “real men” (and real partners, for that matter) don’t care if you’re heavy, have beauty marks, anything, so therefore... the bnha boys dont mind those things, either.

plus lmfao... todo, bakugo, and shinso are all actually in my top list of chubby chasers soooo (although im biased and think every character is on that list tbh)...

none of them would break up with you for your insecurities! They of all people understand what it’s like to be ashamed of things (as Bakugo faces feelings of inferiority, Shinso has his quirk, and Todo’s family is bananas), so they would only want to comfort you if you ever expressed your concerns.

Not to mention, they all seem like the type to be in a relationship for the long haul... So if they’re already dating you, it means they’re in it FOR LIFE🤞🏻

Which is why, none of what you do could ever bother them... and as for comforting...

I don’t think either Bakugo, Todo, or Shinso are really going to notice if you don’t want to or can’t go into certain clothing stores. They’re heroes (and boys for that matter💀) with a lot on their mind, so if you mention you don’t like shopping somewhere, they’re just going to assume that you either don’t feel like it or it’s not your style.

Their heads don’t really connect your insecurities with your shopping preferences, simply because they assume you already know what you like to wear and where you like to shop.

In Shinso’s case, while I can see him picking up on some of your subtleties, such as avoiding certain stores and/or sections, he’s probably not really going to think it’s a serious issue or bring up the topic unless you initiate the conversation yourself, mostly because he (doesn’t want to be at the mall) assumes you already know that he likes your body and really doesn’t care what you wear.

That being said, when you are in fitting rooms together, he gets pretty handsy even before you start getting frustrated by things. Definitely distracts you from doing anything by whistling at you or grabbing at your thighs and pulling you between his legs from where he sits on the tiny stool they’ve provided... Also probably puts in some effort beforehand too, helping you pick out things that he likes and are more likely to fit in the first place.

Bakugo is pretty similar to this, as well. With his parents working in the design industry, he definitely has a good eye for sizing and can help you pick out the most accurate things for your body type. He’s actually really useful because you can hold up anything, and he’ll generally have a pretty good idea on whether the style will suit you or not, and if it’s in the right size. This makes trying things on a bit more bearable, as you honestly end up fitting everything you bring into the changing room.

He’s also good to shop with because he’s probably not gonna let you go to any shitty clothing stores either... So wherever you end up going is probably gonna have better stuff that’s in every size, anyway (it’s literally like 2200 and people have quirks... you can’t tell me stores would have things for literally every shape). The nice thing about this too is that everything you end up getting is super comfortable for that exact reason.

Definitely can stay pretty serious in the dressing rooms... but you have to be careful because the moment you guys get home he’s gonna be horn-nee.

Todoroki, on the other side of all of this, is literally motherfucking useless. It’s not that he doesn’t want to be comforting, it’s just he really just doesn’t put the puzzle pieces of your insecurity together AND thinks you look good in everything, regardless... so even if you tried to explain why you hate shopping, he’s just like “but everyone has things they don’t fit?”

HOWEVER..... the redeeming quality about him is.... HE IS RICH!!! And probably grew up with a tailor, and/or at least a family stylist, so once you’re in with him, he just adds you onto the bill for that, too. Say goodbye shopping, hello to having clothing that fits you shipped right to your door... (and Todo just loves staring at you while you get measured for outfits).

SO.... sorry for my earlier harshness... it’s just because I love and care about you sooooo much!! as well as understand what it’s like to feel like a freak in forever 21...

ANYWAY... here’s just some little things I wanted to include, too!

I used to think that Bakugo wouldn’t have a preference for thick girls, but then I saw this tik tok that was like, “my attractive friends always ask me where all the hot and fit boys are.... in these guts bitch” and my perspective changed entirely... I just know a beefy boy like him who has a mean mommy LOVES curves... like you can’t tell me he doesn’t see your belly and absolutely melts... like that shit is straight FAXXXXXXXXXXX no printer... (i also saw a tik tok today that was like, “would you fuck me if i was skinny? and the person said “i would fuck you right now.” and tbh that’s big baku energy LOL)

*John’s very embarrassed bc this is probs the first time you meet his dad in person

*He’s a lil clumsy when it comes to dancing, but he’s got spirit

*Doesn’t look at you a lot bc you look so very nice and he’s trying to avoid his brain short circuiting

Did you and Dan ever discuss what you wanted to be like as parents before you were married? How long did you date him before getting engaged? What are your favorite wedding memories?

Not really... we just knew we wanted to provide well for them. I didn’t really want kids at first.

We dated for about 3.5 years before we got engaged.

My favorite wedding memories are the things we still laugh and joke about 8.5 years later:

- we went outside for photos at night and noticed a car’s lights were on. We had every intention of telling the DJ and the front desk so they could help find the person and then we got distracted (as one gets at their wedding!!!) and never did. Turns out it was my aunts car 🤦🏻‍♀️ it died. She lived in DE at the time and had to get jumped the next morning.

- boys 2 men played at the venue a few weeks prior and one of the groomsmen knew it and told us all and it’s all we talked about 🤣

- our trolley driver (though very nice!) did NOT follow directions and when the gps would say to turn left he’d go right etc. I wasn’t super familar with the area heading towards the church so my luckily my sister in law could direct him. Then after church, Dan had to direct him.

- our wedding coordinator was the BEST guy named Clem. He was so excited about everything and especially my dress/shoes. I had on my cute little yellow heels during photos at the park but then when we were done, my feet could not take them anymore (lots of walking on cobblestones did me in) so I switched to my flip flops not thinking and left my heels behind with our overnight bags. When we got off the trolley at the hotel, poor Clem was so excited to see me and gasped in horror when he saw I was wearring black flip flops 🤣

- many guests at my wedding got DRUNK (especially Dan’s best friend the priest who married us) so we talk about how fun it was dancing with everyone and our super pumped DJ

- Dan never got to actually TASTE our wedding cake 🤣 and he still talks about it. We had a cake fight at our wedding and so aside from getting a little bit then, we never sat down and ate a piece (we were too busy dancing)! I didn’t realize the top part we took home was chocolate and he won’t eat it. 🤣🤣🤣 he will NOT EVER NOT BRING THIS UP

- we handed out pretzels and krimpets (Philly thing lol) at the end as a late night snack. My in laws also suggested peanut chews and said they’d buy them. I said no, I don’t like them. They kept asking and I kept saying no. At the rehearsal dinner at their house, she had these cute little silverware holders for everyone to grab when they got their food and they had put PEANUT CHEWS in them. My friends husband was like why are there candy bars in this? And I was like THE PEANUT CHEWS. They snuck them in without my knowledge.. I bring it up at least once a week.

We do talk about our wedding still. It was so much fun. People still tell us how much fun they had!! Weddings should be about the marriage but ours was also a banger and I loved it.

Oh yeah and to add - our hotel has these creepy rooms called fantasy suites - basically they are themed rooms and it was included in our package so of course we stayed in one the night of. We went with “cottage in the woods” because it had a hot tub and it was so weird! It really did look like you were at a cottage in the woods. However the hot tub jets didn’t really work so our sexy hot tub time was really just an awkward hot bath for two. There was a mirror on the ceiling above the hot tub which we thought was creepy af and the room had ZERO windows. So it was dark af and we had to keep the bathroom light on bc it was terrifying 🤣 Ryan gosling filmed a movie in one of the themed rooms (the space room!!!!) and I was so mad that one wasnt available. Everyone wanted to see the famous fantasy suites so like half of our wedding party came upstairs with us to see it 🤣 We got to stay in it again for one year anniversary and the hot tub was still broken and it was just as creepy.

a redemption arc for a man like dave goodkind is such a vile thought to me. i mean obviously head canon whatever you want there’s always going to headcanons someone disagrees with. but growing up in an extremist religious household like the one he seems to have run - with conversion therapy sessions in your living room and demonstrations of conditional love that ends when you decide to live your true life is awful. this is coming from personal experience. the trauma that results from it. a redemption arc is not always necessary nor realistic. some parents, as much as we may love them, to our own detriment, will not change. and to call him your favorite character? jesus lol thats insane.

as you can see i'm not gonna proof read this answer but bear with me bc i am gonna spit extrememly straight facts and at the end you will understand me and might even agree with me.

so when i say dave goodkind is my favorite character what do i mean by that?

i mean it like when i say my history class about slavery is my favorite course right now. i don't like slavery, but i love learning about it. learning about the stories of resistance, the culture that failed to be entirely repressed, the primary sources and the shitty textbooks we have to sift through for nuggests of gold (sick california gold rush reference) i mean it's a brilliant course.

still don't like slavery.

listen, i did not grow up in a religious extremist household. but i do know what homophobia feels like. and media loves to portray homophobia like this:

that’s right kids. put on your gus-is-going-off-the-rails-on-a-socialist-tirade-again hat bc: it’s all about class.

now this isn’t to say there are no poor white people with buck teeth and crazy hair that are homophobic. religious extremism is often used as a way for rich people to manipulate poor people, and it’s no surprise so many of them fall prey to it. it all comes back to this problem: poor people have no community. people of color have their community, queer people have community, but poor people don’t like each other. it’s why this is one of my fave snl sketches. it says, much more eloquently than I ever could, that it’s all about class until it isn’t.

so. dave goodkind. dave goodkind is rich. he owns his own business, he wears nice clothes and buys organic food for his kids. all his kids are beautiful and he takes them on ATV rides on his massive property. dave goodkind and his wife probably both went to nice colleges where they go nice degrees, and their parents probably went to college too. there’s a good chance even their parents went to college too.

and dave goodkind is homophobic.

so that’s a big piece of why i love him so much. i love that he’s not in a wife beater with a giant beer belly, abusing his kids and getting drunk all the time. i love that he’s not sexually assaulting random girls and carrying picket signs around. he’s not a carciature, he’s not an exaggeration. And shelby is. Shelby’s a blonde southern belle, who loves horses and america too. she’s got a thick accent she makes thicker and she hides behind this stereotype to avoid being seen.

i also think dave goodkinds abuse is so well written. the way he carefully coordinates his attacks and his love. we think of conversion therapy and we think of electroshock therapy, we know that’s not real but we still know about the violent physical abuse that happens and continues to happy in churches all across america. but sometimes conversion therapy looks like this:

it’s just not something often depicted with so much care. so yeah. he’s my favorite character. his style of abuse, his background, it all fascinates me. i want to know what he was like to shelby as a child, i want to know what he was like as a child, i want to know about his parents. i find it interesting in the same way i find my history class interesting. because what makes my history class my favorite is that it’s my favorite thing to learn about, and that’s what dave goodkind is for. if you wanted to know my favorite class to be in, i’d just say lunch, and probably leah.

okay, so now your next point: redemption arcs.

shouldn’t we want all people to change???? shouldn’t we hope and pray that tomorrow they wake up and realize their shitty actions!!!

my point of the post is that our hatred for dave goodkind (and i do hate him if that wasn’t clear) blinds us to the reality of shelby’s love for him. she really does have an important and terribly onesided bond to him . and yes, obvious the hope in a lot of abusive relationships is that the victim will get out. but for parents it’s different, we know he wasn’t always abusive, we know that at one point, she really did have a lot to gain from her relationship again. who’s to say she can’t still have a lot to gain?

there is value in parental relationships, and sometimes they can be salvaged and sometimes they can’t. in shelby’s case, they probably can’t. the unconditional love is one-sided, and she probably is gonna need to break it off.

but i’m an optimist okay!!! i want shelby to have her cake and eat it too!!! i want her to dance at all the weddings, and i know she would be happiest if dave was dancing at hers!!!!!!

some people will not change, like you said. that’s very true. some people will and we still don’t owe them entry back into our lives, that’s also true.

but everyone deserves a redemption arc.

and that isn’t to say dave goodkind deserves one with shelby. maybe he wakes up and decides he’s wrong, and starts a shelter for homeless lgbt teens with his wealth, and he reaches out but she doesn’t want a relationship with her. maybe he starts a farm and gives all the food away for free to the hungry. whatever happens, to anyone at any given point, there is no decision they can make that will make them “unworthy” of doing good. anyone can do good, that’s the great thing about doing good. tomorrow, donald trump could wake up and donate his entire wealth to idk, vaccine research or some shit. environmental protection. rainn. and they would take his money, they’d take his time, they might even take his face to be their posterboy. bc you can always do good, and you can always do better, and you can always change your mind.

and everyone deserves a redemption arc.

some parents won’t change, dave probably won’t. Shelby will probably have to give him up because of that. but that doesn’t mean he isn’t important to her, and that doesn’t mean she doesn’t love him. And that doesn’t mean i can’t hope with every fiber of my being that she doesn’t have to give him up.

even if it’s only to save her some heartbreak

Author’s Note: Gotta say, when I wrote my first fic with this boy it was not as fun as this. And definitely not as good lol. I hope you like this my Batman buddy!

Requested: by anon, I would absolutely die if you wrote a Bruce Wayne fic where he and reader grew up together and have always been kinda in love with each other just like a sweet soft fluffy fic to give me serotonin bc Bruce rlly gets me in my feels🙄🙄🙄

“I am not calling for you.”

“Please call for me. You’ve been calling for me since my parents died.”

“Bruce Wayne we are the same goddamn age I am not calling the doctor's office for you you are a grown man.”

Your high heels clanked on the floor underneath you as you and Bruce walked down the long hallway of his large estate. Your hair was perfectly flowing, every strand in place and the dress you were wearing hugged your curves in a work appropriate way. Not that that really mattered when you worked for your best friend and crush.

You and Bruce were friends in the school yard when you were only toddlers and your friendship blossomed as you grew into yourselves. You had been inseparable since day one so he hired you for his company after graduating high school together. You were pretty high up in the food chain, working close to Bruce without being his assistant. He promised you’d never be his assistant because you would probably just tell him to do everything himself. But you had a well paying and hard job helping run Wayne Enterprises.

He walked beside you, hands shoved in his pockets. He was facing you, walking backward. You carefully pushed him to the side to avoid a pole but he barely noticed. He walked a heel first although you knew he probably wasn’t going to fall, you kept a hand up to watch him move just in case.

“But I need you,” he said, puppy dog eyes and all. You rolled your eyes and walked quickly past him to your office. He gave you one in his penthouse so that he could always annoy you whenever and he also did not want you out and about in other offices with crummy men. His employees did their jobs well but he didn’t trust most of them with anything other than what they were getting paid for.

“Have Alfred do it Bruce. I have other stuff to do like say, run your company for you.” You turned around and he halted when you did, just inches away. You didn’t bat an eye at the closeness. “Stop following me.” He rolled his eyes and turned back around, walking away. You waited four seconds and then he stopped, turned and looked like he was going to say anything but ran into the pole.

You laughed and walked away, despite his protests.

Alfred came down the hallway when you had just closed your office doors. The clear glass walls gave you away, falling easily into your chair and getting straight to work. Bruce was still haphazardly watching you when Alfred walked up.

“Should I call the doctor's office?” he asked. Bruce out his fingers on his temple and shook his head, his hair falling out of place a little. He turned to his butler that was more like a dad.

“I’ll call. Shes right, I’m a grown man,” he breathed. He looked rather distraught which was a stark difference from the moment before when he was laughing at your sarcasm. Alfred noticed this right away.

You had been coming over to the penthouse since you could get dropped off. He knew you and Bruce better than anyone else other than perhaps each other. But there was one thing that the two of you hadn’t quite picked up on.

“When are you going to ask her to dinner?” Alfred asked. Bruce gave him a stern look but Alfred was not one to back away that easily. This had gone on long enough.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“And yet you do.” Bruce started to walk away from your office but his butler was hot on his tail. “She is one of the few people in the world who know of your nightly activities and you’re trying to tell me you aren’t in love with her?”

“Alfred st-”

“She still had that metal ring you found on the playground when you were 8 years old. You still wear the necklace she gave you for your 12th birthday. Bruce, if you’re going to lie to me, you need to do it convincingly.” Bruce moved his hand away from the outline of the pendent he wore around his neck that was hidden under his suit. He couldn’t meet Alfreds eyes.

“We’re best friends. We always have been.”

“Best friends..don’t look at each other like that.”

And with that, Alfred disappeared down one of the many doors of the home. Bruce glanced behind him only briefly, unconsciously rubbing the pendent and looking for you behind the glass wall of your office.

Your fingers played with the ring on your finger as you read something on your computer.

Later that evening Bruce stumbled into his cave, bleeding somewhere but otherwise unhurt. He had gotten what he wanted that night but his mind was elsewhere, lost somewhere between your eyes and your hips.

He didn’t even notice you. You sat in one of the chairs, wearing your pajamas. Your day attire was gone and you were comfortable in his soft chair as you ate some chips and looked through the computer.

You heard him enter. He grunted, suit coming off slowly as he made his way to wear he stored it.

“Successful night?” you asked. He jumped at your voice which caused you to laugh. The Batman, scared of his best friend but not what goes bump in the night.

“Yeah,” he grunted. “What are you doing awake?” His side was bleeding and you got up, blanket around your shoulder. You already had the supplies set out to stitch up anything and he didn’t protest, simply grimacing when you began. Your hands sent goosebumps down his chest. You had seen him shirtless countless times but he felt exposed now.

“Waited up for you. Someone has to make sure Bruce Wayne comes home at night,” you told him absentmindedly. He was silent as you finished up. You threw his shirt at him and an extra blanket.

“Why do you still wear that ring?” he asked. You turned, knees to your chest in his seat once more. He shrugged on the shirt. You smiled at the fond memory.

“Reminds me of you. I can’t imagine going anywhere without it.” This didn’t ease his thoughts that had plagued his afternoon. He loved you. Deeply and unconditionally. He was just now realizing that was the feelings he had felt all those years.

“You know what Alfred said today?”

“That you should make your own doctors appointments?” He chuckled.

“Yes but also...he said that everyone thought we were together in high school.” Alfred hadn’t really said that but Bruce needed a segway. He’d never know. You smiled.

“Yes well someone had to come up with a reason for your handsome face not dating anyone of substance.”

“Did you ever want to? Date me I mean.” You chuckled and stood up, carrying the blanket around your shoulders and making your way to him.

“Did you ever want to date me?” you teased.

“You’re avoiding the question.” He was suddenly very serious. You raised an eyebrow.

“Sure Bruce. Once or twice. But we’re best friends, I never wanted to ruin that.”

“Best friends don’t look at each other the way we do.” His voice was deathly low, so low you almost didn’t catch it. It caught you off guard but he was holding his breath. Waiting for a reaction. You looked at your ring and then in his eyes.

“We were never just best friends Bruce Wayne.” Your face read the sympathy you felt for him, the love you held in your heart. He was hesitant but his hand moved upward, caressing your face. You didn’t protest. You were the one that moved to kiss him and he was all too happy to return the kiss. It was slow and careful, new territory. But it was nice. Better than nice. It was everything.

You pulled away but didn’t open your eyes right away, simply savoring the moment. Finally you looked at him, his handsome charming face and you smiled.

“My Y/N.”

“Always.”
