Vax: really the sadboy narrative for Liam has always been stupid but it's egregiously bad that it started with Vax, who is like, sad for maybe a fifth of the episodes and largely because Liam O'Brien's actual mother was dying, like, with all due respect what the actual fuck, fandom.

Vex: I am the founding and probably only member of the "Vex is my favorite character and also I am 100% cool with Colville's depiction of her." The generosity she shows even very early on in C1 is still a generosity borne of some degree of security - they have a keep by then - and I also just don't think you have to like a character to write them fairly. Granted it's been a minute since I read early VMO but nothing stood out to me as out of line with my understanding of Vex.

Pike: repeating myself once again but I like Pike a lot and wish we could have seen more, but because we didn't, people who say she's their favorite in C1 do tend to turn me off in that I feel they're looking for a relatively flat and widely praised character to project onto rather than a character who goes through more messy development.

Grog: I think he's often underestimated and I was guilty of doing so myself, to be honest, until I saw Travis play more and until I personally got better at D&D. Also I still maintain that playing INT 6 sensitively and well is infinitely harder than playing INT 16, all things considered, and this is yet another reason why people should play high INT more often.

Scanlan: Also underestimated; I do understand being turned off by the whole extremely horny playboy thing but as I've said before Bard's Lament is a major litmus test for me: if you think Scanlan is completely at fault here, you are wrong, and if you think he's not partially at fault, you are also wrong.

Tary: I genuinely love him and think he's a great character and one of Sam's best, but while his character arc is strong the Taryon Darrington Arc of the VM Campaign, through no fault of his own (and partly bc I personally think D&D Hell, especially pre-Descent Into Avernus publication, is kind of boring), is one of the weakest parts of the campaign because it's kind of a grab bag of loose ends. With that said I would happily watch more Darrington Brigade-one shots.

Percy: Percy is also generally a litmus test in that it's like. Is he a good person? Eventually I believe he becomes one, and even before that I think he's very sympathetic and deeply traumatized and like, 24, so I get it, but also, who the fuck cares. This ties into the Essek and the Ashton opinions and all kinds of other stuff but why are people so invested in fucking absolving their blorbo of all sins? I want someone who's lived enough of a life to have done some heinous shit because that's fun and interesting and it's pretend and also because then they can have a rewarding character arc by either working towards redemption or coming to terms with who they are or spiraling into tragedy.

Keyleth: I like Keyleth a lot but I am, as this post indicates, far more sympathetic to Vex, and so while I do think Keyleth is a fairly good person she is also extremely sheltered and naive and terrified of doing the wrong thing and I would have, like Vex, wanted to scream at her half the time were I just a random NPC wandering about the campaign. On the other hand C3-era Keyleth? fantastic no notes she has grown up in such an interesting way.

Tiberius: I think we, and by we I mean people capable of separating the art from the artist, can recognize that his concept actually fucking slapped and unfortunately he was played by someone who absolutely sucked in a myriad of ways. I would love to see the alternate universe in which the same general concept (prodigy sorcerer from Draconia who is full of themself) had to face not just the destruction of their civilization but the realization that they were taking advantage of the Ravenites and while they did not deserve to be killed by Vorugal, had done nothing to justify aid from those they had subjugated either. Like, the alternate world in which one of the current cast members or like, a close friend of the main cast (Ashly, Erika, Mary Elizabeth) played this is one I'd love to see.

this is sort of random as hell but i can't help but think of like. a funger termina isekai fic. 💀 no but like. FEAR AND HUNGER IS THE WORST universe to be inside, really. it's all misery!!! pain!! suffering!! and i'm just picturing this like, regular person gets transported into the universe and just absolutely loses her shit bc she KNOWS, she KNOWS DAMN WELL exactly how she's screwed, far better than anyone else!! she's played the games dozens and dozens of times, died so many times, and now she's IN that setting, she's in that world, and death is now PERMANENT with REAL stakes. she knows the entire game like the back of her hand, but what does it matter, bc it's fear and hunger. there's only so much knowledge that can help you . .

in my head, in a lot of isekai fic and stuff, ocs tend to like, hide the fact that they know things? but i feel like a modern-day oc who gets transported into fear and hunger would be forced into a position where she has to be honest bc its the best chance of survival. this isn't a game where she can just follow the right steps, recruit the people, get them to do the things, this is now real and dangerous and terrifying, and she knows that she can't do it alone.

and i'm just picturing like. d1, she wakes up before everyone else, loses her shit, and then promptly refuses to let ANYONE leave the train. no no but like, also can you picture what im seeing, this woman just pacing back and forth frantically, very clearly losing it, and she's like "you fuckers are not going ANYWHERE, we are all traveling TOGETHER, bc you all do not understand how much danger we're in" and then the others are like, you know, the train just stopped, weird dream, they haven't even been to prehevil yet so they don't know how fucked up everything is over there, and now this random stranger is just losing her shit, they don't take her seriously bc honestly who would, and so she just. she just starts fucking putting them on blast

bc its like, fear and hunger is a game series that we know damn well is a horrible like, UNIVERSE to be in, its depressing and awful for the characters who live in it, but can you imagine the ripe ANGST of having an isekai oc from our world go into it? they have our world as a reference point, in the way none of the other characters do, bc this is their world, they don't know anything else, how could they? but this isekai oc would just be so fucking-- innocent in the way the others aren't, bc she hasn't lived through the horrible F&H world and like, the dynamic there is so so interesting too bc all of the characters in termina, all of them on that train are AWARE or have been involved/done bad things, and this here is a character who hasn't, who hasn't seen blood or misery for her entire fucking LIFE. she'd be an "everyman" character by our standards, you know, but by their standards? she'd be such a fucking anomaly with the shit she says, the things she believes in. and also, you know, the fact she knows things about all of them and the situation they're in she has absolutely no right to know and its so SO interesting to think about, actually?? like genuinely losing my mind thinking about this rn

Lucifer

-He strikes me as the type to either have a hydro vision or a geo vision

-more leaning towards hydro

-hydro vision holders tend to be dedicated to their work and uphold their own view of justice, more often than not being protectors of some sort i.e Candace and Aaru village, Ayato with the Kamisato Clan

-I draw parallels between him and Ayato because they both have gone through hell and back for their families (often literally) and have had to salvage tarnished reputations in order to protect said family

-also very rich and elegant men who have a “dark side” that most aren’t aware of

-It’s also just every hydro character being really sophisticated and elegant tbh he fits the vibe I think (minus Childe but he has his moments)

-Geo because, well… look at him. He’s prime geo vision material. Like a rock solid wall holding up the HOL but like he’s also hanging by a thread lol.

Mammon

-Geo Vision, Hear me out on this.

-Not only does it suit his color palette, but if you think about it, Mammon places a lot of responsibility on himself to be a good older brother to his siblings (despite falling short most times), we see this especially during Nightbringer

-Geo’s thing is literally responsibility. Every geo user has some sort of responsibility that they themselves have chosen to undertake, whether or not they can handle it

-They’re all also quite stubborn. Once they’re dead set on something they will never let it go, and on top of that they also protect either someone or something

-Every geo user has a goal relating to something to do with material or status: Ningguang and the Tianqiu, Noelle wanting to be in the KOF, Zhongli wanting to retire (lmfao). Mammon wanting to be rich (and wanting him and his brothers to be at the top of the Devildom in Nightbringer) literally fits.

-Mammon, despite being a goofy character, fits into geo so perfectly it’s actually insane.

-Mammon and Itto are the same person. I’m not elaborating.

Levi

-Electro vision all the way.

-It’s no surprise. Canonically he’s seen as a weirdo, even by his brothers (not me tho I love my men a little pathetic) and he doesn’t spend much time mingling with others, so of course he’s gonna be singled out

-almost every single electro vision holder is outcasted by at least one society; Beidou being cast out of her village, Fischl being thought of as eccentric because of her personality, the literal electro archon becoming a shut-in

-He would absolutely get the vision probably in like the early part of Nightbringer when we got stuck in the TSL universe and he had to make a decision

-(if you’re wondering why I keep bringing up Nightbringer it’s bc it’s the one I’m currently playing ok)

-Levi also passes the “I have a scary animal that helps me fight” thing. Henry’s quite formidable when he’s back to normal size :)

Satan

-Hm, thinking about it and at first I’d say dendro is the obvious answer but there’s also quite a few other contenders actually.

-Pyro is one of them, and when drawing parallels Diluc comes to mind (obvs grumpy men stick together always.) As the avatar of wrath, he’s like mad 80% of the time and I can imagine him raining hellfire upon everything (and he has, best believe).

-But also he’d fit the “passionate” description, he’s so passionate about books and magic that he’d literally kill for a book that he wanted (and did I’m pretty sure). He’d also be considered passionate for hating Lucifer so much I think

-he also has quite the past to fit with a pyro user, especially during Nightbringer when he’s still coming into terms about being basically a baby demon and learning to confront his brothers and finally accept them

-Dendro is quite obvious for him. He craves knowledge from books, and I’m sure if he were in Teyvat he’d find his way in the Akademiya just to get into the House of Daena’s restricted section

-I think either or could be his vision, depends on which Satan you’re talking about (Nightbringer Satan and main timeline Satan are two vastly different individuals)

-if you really wanna get into it tho, cryo/electro's pretty... fitting. Especially for nightbringer Satan. Even if his brothers try not to make him feel like it, he will always be different from them; the fact that he basically was made to replace Lillith in a sense, and he distances himself away from them because he just doesn't fit in.

-all in all he's so versatile realistically he could have like 4/7 visions since his character is so dynamic between the two games

Asmodeus

-Now this was harder to come up with, but after giving it some thought I think he’d have an Anemo vision

-think of it this way. In Nightbringer take a shot everytime I bring that game up his whole arc in the beginning was learning to let go of the celestial realm and accepting the fact that he was a demon now, effectively granting himself the freedom to love himself once more

-Anemo is the element of freedom right? He fought himself and his inner demons for freedom like that, which happens to a lot of those who are granted this vision (Wanderer and Xiao moment)

-Thats really all I have for him. Tbh, the only other vision I could see him wielding his pyro, but I couldn’t think of anything else I can say that hasn’t already been said

-another short anemo king go figure (he and heizou would get along I think)

Beelzebub

-another one I had to really think of, but upon further deliberation with myself I'm thinking pyro again (the default vision lmfao)

-Yes. Passion for food, he'd get along with Xiangling quite well (too well, imagine her in the devildom holy shit)

-Also pretty passionate about working out and protecting his brothers, so there's that lol

-I am stumped on him bc he's like lowkey just there bro like

-how would he even get his vision idk man

-but imo pyro is the default vision so he gets it (feel free to disagree with me)

Belphegor

-If you think this guy does not have an anemo vision you are wrong

-like dead mf wrong he is anemo all the goddamn way

-he lost his sister and still blames himself for it, but he also wants to be free with his brothers in the devildom

-the other vision i would give him is electro because he does tend to like, shut himself off or whatever so there's that

Diavolo

-hmmmm, such a hard decision I wonder what vision I would give to the literal prince of hell- pyro.

-Pyro, because as I've stated before, it is both the default vision imo and also the vision for those who are passionate IMO (I cannot stress this enough)

-Diavolo is very passionate about RAD, and the whole "demons getting along with other species" concept is something he has been working very hard on (man is trying to end specieism in the obey me verse)

-on top of his outgoing and friendly personality, pyro really does fit him like a glove. I could make an argument for geo because he shoulders a fuck ton of responsibility for the devildom (esp in nightbringer) but like

-he is warm and friendly and strong, perfect pyro material

Barbatos

-I needed to think about this one for a bit, but after further deliberation with the screams that echo in my head, I am confident in saying that this man has an anemo vision

-if he were in the genshin universe he'd def be one of the shady people from celestia (bro is literally istaroth but i digress)

-as much as anemo fits him aesthetically, I also want to point out that he just... gives people freedom? Like the first half of nightbringer was him finally fulfilling someone's wish to go to heaven to see their lover

-he also just parallels a lot with venti, idk i just see him being very fitting with an anemo vision

-like, he's immortal yet does not look it (Scara, Xiao, Venti), downplays his power to appear "normal" in a sense that he won't be an immediate threat to those perceiving him (Venti), saw a pyro kid and decided to adopt them and begrudgingly take care of them no matter how annoying they are (Xiao and Hu Tao though I may be reaching)

Luke

-bro does not have a vision yet (jk its cryo)

-I feel like he'd be given a hydro vision solely for the fact that he is changing his, quite frankly specie-ist, ways lol (like eula hello?)

-he is quite shy when mc first met him, the only reason why he didn't immediately get mad at them is because they weren't a demon and that's saying something

-he tends to be very guarded around said demons, often becoming aggressive when interacting with them but he's warming up. It's like a wall of ice slowly melting through the mc and simeon's guidance

-he also reminds me of mika for some reason

Solomon

-he has an electro vision and yes, it's exactly the same situation as Lisa

-though he doesn't need one (none of them do tbh), I feel like he wanted one just for shits and giggles like I definitely see him being a descender on Teyvat

-he's literally the most powerful human in the obey me verse, of course he's going to be viewed differently from others even though he "tries" to not be too overt about it (very, very big emphasis on tries. I think he only does it for mc atp)

-I feel like he'd get along well with the electro ladies as well, particularly Miko and Lisa (Gorou and Luke need to hide like asap)

-in all seriousness though, he just fits into electro so well given all the character traits present in electro wielders

-another vision I could see him having is dendro, partly because he's always down to have more knowledge about magic that he doesn't know yet and is in constant pursuit of creating pacts with the demon brothers

Simeon

-another hydro wielder :)

-calm, collected, elegant, sticks to their principles- classic hydro archetype tbh I love him so much

-again, very similar to Lucifer's reasoning but he leans more towards hydro wielders like Nilou and Candace I think, who are quite relaxed but won't hesitate to protect what they love and fight for what they deem is right

-spoiler warning: he literally got cast out of heaven for the mc.

-as I've said before, there really isn't anything I can add that I haven't said before, other than the fact that Simeon would definitely enjoy Xinqiu's company and possibly get along with Furina when discussing acting and the arts

-other than hydro, I don't think any other vision suits him tbh (big maybe on anemo but like, it doesn't really fit tbh)

happy 2024! this has been in my inbox forever but looks super fun to do! here’s my take on what characters would be regressors/caregivers for arcane, dbh and atla. I totally wrote way more than I expected to but here u are! <3 I’ll do a separate post for ofmd and soc bc they have so many characters I have opinions on.

Agere Character Headcanons

(Arcane, D:BH, ATLA)

(jinx is me cooking up this thread)

Arcane

Vi: As much as she’d be a wonderful caregiver, she’s absolutely a regressor. Being small reminds her of days spent with her parents and Powder, family trips to the fish markets of the coast and sunny days building sand castles at the beach. She tends to be on the older side, a natural tendency from a life spent as the older sibling, taking care of Powder. Vi’s a very active and vivacious little, playing outdoors and hanging off Caitlyn’s shoulders. Loves physical touch, hugs and high fives are the way to go.

Caitlyn: Caregiver all the way! I think she loves kids in general, and despite her awkward nature and sheltered upbringing, she finds it easy to take charge and step into the role of a protector. Definitely looks after Vi and is oftentimes too concerned about her safety. She loves taking the little out to the playground and to eat at Jericho’s food stall (even if she still refuses to eat a bowl of slop herself).

Jinx: Tiniest, cutest, moodiest little troublemaker there is. Jinx regresses to about four or five years old, and absolutely bounces off the walls at all hours of the day. She’s not the quiet, sweet child she once was as Powder, but rather gets herself into trouble and feigns innocence. She loves to annoy both Silco and Sevika, clambering on the latter’s lap and hiding under Silco’s desk for games of hide and seek. Her mood changes rather drastically as well, as she can go from completely happy to hyperventilating sobbing from anything as simple as scraping a knee to refusing bedtime.

Jayce: He’s a very attentive and high strung caregiver. Looking after Viktor is much easier than Caitlyn, Silco, or Sevika’s jobs, but Jayce always fusses over the little. He’s quick to scoop him up whenever it’s deemed necessary, and goes to Mel for help when he needs another pair of hands. Jayce loves caregiving because it gives him something to focus on other than his responsibility to Piltover, and enjoys simple play with his little like story time and building blocks.

Viktor: Super small and quiet regressor! Viktor can get very young, and has no qualms with depending on Jayce for help when he’s little. He likes to be snuggled up on a couch in a mound of blankets and is also content to sit and watch Mel paint the ships that go by the balcony of her apartment. Viktor is sweet and shy and doesn’t tend to verbalize his needs, but because Jayce is so attentive they mesh well together.

Detroit: Become Human

Kara: Caregiver. Need I expand? It’s in her coding in the first place to protect and nurture. Upon her deviance, Kara realizes that even if she was made for it, she can still reclaim that part of herself for herself. She is quick to console whomever her little may be, and projects the kindest and warmest energy to the person she’s taking care of. Kara enjoys making up her own stories, and loves playing make believe with her regressor.

Connor: One hundred percent a regressor. This little guy was shy and uncertain when he first started regressing, as he didn’t know what ‘normal’ behaviour from a deviant was, let alone how to process all the new emotions he was feeling. Connor loves to spend time at Hank’s house with Sumo, revelling in the feeling of the dog’s fluffy fur and laughing happily when he teaches Sumo all sorts of tricks. Connor is usually happy when regressed, but struggles with anxiety and asking for help. Hank is always there to walk Connor through his big feelings and encourages him to use his words.

Markus: He’s one of the most chaotic caregivers there is. You picked the pacifist route in the game? Doesn’t matter. This guy is unhinged when it comes to caregiving. Spoiling his little at any time possible, letting them stay up hours past their bedtime, giving them candy for breakfast and encouraging colouring on the walls. He spent so many years being exactly who Carl wanted him to be while also tasting freedom through Carl’s art that it brings him so much joy to see a regressor’s eyes sparkle when he says yes to whatever their heart desires. He’s also amazing at comforting a regressor. Big hugs and gentle eyes!

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Katara: Is a caregiver! Incredibly kind yet less patient than one (Sokka) might hope. Katara is quick to caution her little, always on the lookout for anything that they might hurt themselves with or on. But this doesn’t mean she hates fun! She adores the beach and using her bending to splash around, and is always ready to get her little an extra blanket or any snacks they ask for. She’s super sweet and falls into the role of a caregiver like she was made for it. Katara has even sewed a plushie or two as gifts, and has a knack for settling a regressor in front of a crackling fire and braiding their hair before bedtime.

Sokka: Regressor for sure. Even though he’s a big brother he never let go of his goofy side, and it plays into so much of his behaviour when he’s regressed. He’s on the older side, around 6-8, and has so much energy he doesn’t know where to put it all. Queue him running around for hours, laughing at absolutely anything that Aang says and bothering Toph just so she’ll play with him. Sokka doesn’t cry, even when he takes a tumble (which is quite often) but is fussy when he doesn’t get his way. He’s a troublemaker, but his beaming smile lets him get away with plenty.

Aang: Honestly I think he’s a caregiver, but is more like a fun uncle than any other label. His sage airbender wisdom doesn’t come through often, which means he’s all about fun all the time. His childish side matches a little like Sokka’s constant energy, and he seems to vanish into a cloud of smoke when any tears come his way. And how did Sokka and Zuko get chocolate all around their mouths, you ask? Well, there’s no one to ask because Aang’s just taken off on his glider on some very important business.

Zuko: LITTLE! REGRESSOR! TINY! Oh my goodness, he’s the first fictional character that I ever headcanoned as a regressor. There’s no need to delve into his trauma here, but the boy is in such a desperate need of healing his childhood that he regressed long before he even knew what it was. Regresses very young, between 2-5. Before meeting the Gaang he’d hang off of Uncle’s shoulder during Pai Sho tournaments on his ship and would shyly ask the crew members to play songs during music nights. His tough demeanour disappears completely when he’s regressed and he turns into a shy boy that is insistent on doing things himself and is quick to cry when he’s unable to, for example, wrap his robes the way he wants. Zuko has a turtleduck plushie that Katara sewed for him after Aang asked him what his favourite animal was and Sokka caught him cuddling up to Appa at night. Sweetest boy in the whole world.

Toph : Caregiver! Matches more with Aang’s style of caregiving than Katara’s, but still lands somewhere in the middle. Her earthbending gives her the ability to pick up on every tiny emotion that a regressor feels, and it means she’s prepared and in tune with every need, happy or unhappy, that someone needs. She tends to playfully tease Zuko and Sokka, but knows exactly where to draw the line with either boy based on the rhythm of their heart. Toph helps Aang when it comes to letting the boys do something Katara has specifically told them they’re not allowed to, and will always feign innocence when confronted by the eldest caregiver.

Like where is the emotional depth beyond surface-level cutscene angst?? So I took matters into my own hands and have compiled a handy little list of headcanons / expanded canons that I think make sense.

Noctis: Has clinical insomnia and frequent lucid dreams (sorta a given, but bear w me bear w me)

Feels the weight of having to take so much on from such a young age much, much more than he lets on

Loves to argue

Would've been happier if he and Luna stayed as childhood best-buds rather than betrothed fiancés (controversial, ik, but it just didn't seem like he cared that much for her romantically to me?? Like he obviously cared about her, but it seemed like a really strong penpal vibe rather than a "We're-gonna-get-married-and-be-the-next-hotshot-couple" vibe. If you disagree, coolio, I'm not gonna debate w you on this one)

babe you never have to pay me to talk about jegulus <3 if anything, you have to pay me to shut up about them bc they're always on my mind and i'm obsessed with them

anyways i don't know if any of this is gonna sound coherent bc it's 2am and i'm about to go to sleep (another 8 hours tomorrow at work. yay.) but i've been thinking of . canon compliant lately (bc i do wanna write some jegulus set on the canon universe) and how a lot of people tend to think that james would never fall for someone like regulus, especially bc of the sirius situation, or that even if he did, he'd never forgive him for . the dark mark or becoming a death eater

but i see james as the kind of character who's inherently attracted to darkness, not exactly to what he considers is Bad but to what's Wrong or Broken, as in, it can still be fixed. i think this is why he was so drawn to sirius, he's very morally grey regardless of his hatred for his family's values (which wasn't even a thing at the beginning imo, i'm sure james and the others had to correct sirius a lot and they were the ones who actually helped him realise how bigoted his relatives were). james has always had the perfect parents the perfect home the perfect childhood. ofc he couldn't help but be fascinated by the other side

i think that his interest in regulus was born out of this morbid desire of wanting to get close to what he viewed as Wrong. besides, he was sirius' little brother, and i'm sure that, if nothing else, sirius spoke well of him during his first year. there had to be some curiosity there

i also think that his hero complex played a part in it. james believed he could help, believed he could fix sirius' relationship with his brother for him, believed he could make regulus Good again

once the feelings shifted, though, i feel like it was . everything james thought love was but also . the complete opposite . it was beautiful, and genuine, and sincere, but it was also greedy, and painful, and ugly. james brought out the best in regulus while simultaneously breaking him from the inside, giving him what he had pretended he didn't want but reminding him at the same time that he could never have it, not really. it had an expiry date. james was never really his. and regulus brought out the worst in james, all that parts of him he had tried his best to bury, every trait he had thought he had left behind after growing up a little and maturing some. james is someone who sees everything very black or white, always moving on extremes, but being with regulus would teach him about all these shades of grey. and it'd scare him. it'd make him doubt if he's actually a good person

they're both doomed by the narrative, but for opposite reasons. james is so loved he has to die, and regulus is never loved enough, never cared for enough, so he also has to die

it's just as dangerous for the universe to care too much about you as it is for it to not care about you at all

its so wild seeing trolls band together become an actual big thing, as someone whos seen the original a million times bc of something called a little sister (the script doesnt leave my brain send help) if i may ask: what is the appeal exactly for band together? like what made people like yourself catch on? ive heard is simply velvet and veneer but i thought asking might help me understand

WELL my own personal theory is that like. you remember how trolls 2 was a weird pandemic release right, where in order to make up the bulk of movie ticket sales it was basically the first movie you could buy on VOD for a fixed ticket price. for families of like, 5, or just multiple households in general, only playing $20 was actually a great deal, but for people like me who would only be watching it on their own, i’d be having to pay $20 for the privilege to watch a movie Once at home where i’m not even able to own it digitally after the fact. so a lot of people didn’t see trolls world tour as it came out

but then movie theatres opened up again, and trolls 3 managed to get some good promo in before the writers strike (it was a trailer bumper for BARBENHEIMER) so like. people were actualy motivated to see it more ig. especially with like, going to the movies with your family or going on discounted ticket days. it’s the Experience. there was also a bit of buzz around the fact that wish’s villain song sucked MAJOR ass, so people were kinda turning to trolls 3’s villain songs that had dropped like “ha. ha ha. isn’t it funny how this baby movie for little babies has FAR better villain songs than disney’s big prestige anniversary movie” but there was also buzz around velvet and veneer in general because people tend to really be fans of rubberhose style things imo. so like velvet and veneer really caught on as a phenomenon and a lot of people who saw the movie stayed v&v stans but a lot of people who saw the movie to see if the villains were all that ended up falling in love with the entire thing (like me!)

going back to the pandemic release vs theatre release thing i genuinely believe trolls world tour could have sparked a renaissance of trolls’ image like this if it hadn’t been dropped the way it did. because trolls 1 was a Fine Enough fantasy world but it was just about going to and from bergentown and neither pop village nor bergentown were very cool locales. but trolls world tour had COOL LOCATIONS and REALLY COOL LORE and AWESOME SIDE CHARACTERS which is a lot of stuff band together has too! ike i firmly believe that trolls has more of an appeal now because it’s shifted into a true fantasy adventure series it’s just that the one that actually started this trend was trolls world tour. because people LIKE thinking about the politics of the different troll tribes and they LIKE thinking about the sibling dynamics of brozone and it’s a lot more meat to bite into

either that or maybe people just really like velvet and veneer to a supernatural degree. who’s to say. who’s to say.

1. GAY PEOPLE

since you are a community fan on tumblr I’m assuming you like trobed. that’s just math. so! I will introduce you to The Sunny Ship™: mac and dennis

I legitimately think they will become canon, and soon. (you might not know that sunny is Not over yet, they are still making seasons. there are 16 seasons right now (169 episodes) and I believe they’re renewed for at least 2 more seasons which is awesome.) anyway, as much as I love trobed, I do not think they will be confirmed romantically in the canon. I’m not sure I trust that to be written correctly anyway. (but that’s another conversation) the point is I Genuinely Believe that this one will happen. if you want more reasons I’m glad to provide but it would include some spoilers, and I’m not sure how okay you are with that, so I’m omitting my full reasoning. you just gotta trust me on this one lmao

besides that they’re just really entertaining to watch and their dynamic is genuinely so important to me. it is very different from trobed but it makes me equally feral 👍🏻

2. characterization

even if that’s not your vibe there’s a ton else this show has to offer. just thought I’d start off with the gay people bc what is a sitcom without 2 codependent men?

sunny genuinely has great character work. even though the entire premise of the show is that the main characters are Terrible People (one of the original working titles for the show was literally just “Jerks”) they are genuinely great characters. the classic sitcom “funny on the outside but dig a little deeper and you uncover hella trauma and depth” which is awesome I love a sitcom that does that. all of the individual and group dynamics are amazing. obviously mac & dennis tend to stand out but all 5 members of the gang have very individualized relationships with each other, and their dynamic as a whole is so funny. they’re all generally horrible to each other but they really do mean the world to each other. it’s very “found family but they’re all literally the worst people you’ve ever met.” they cannot sustain relationships with anyone outside their own little group and I think that’s beautiful (it wouldn’t be, irl, obviously, but in a tv show it is so funny and awesome)

3. continuity

this one’s pretty short, but the continuity in this show is so awesome, which is pretty important to me. throughout all 16 seasons (and 18 years!) I can only think of a couple logistical continuity mistakes. other than that, the story stays straight, all their past anecdotes line up, and they reference the old episodes all the time. I love community but, in the continuity category, sunny reigns superior

4. RCG

the guys themselves!!! RCG (rob mcelhenney, charlie day, and glenn howerton) are the team that created sunny. they created the premise, adapted it for network tv, literally play the three main guys (mac mcdonald, charlie kelly, and dennis reynolds respectively), are VERY involved in the writing, editing, directing, etc of the show, and are constantly promoting it. they embody this show and they genuinely have So Much love for it.

they’ve been best friends for decades, and their bond really takes the show to the next level. all the dialogue is really natural, they have so much control over the show (as I said, being at least involved in, and oftentimes in charge of, the writing, directing, and editing), and you really can tell that they put their entire souls into making this show.

and they’re still making it, they’re still best friends, rob met his wife (kaitlin olsen, the woman who plays dee) through the show, their family members constantly make cameos, they take experiences from their actual lives and dramatize them for arcs in the show, they literally started a whole podcast where they talk about the show (and other things too), and… ugh. this show is so solidly theirs, and you can just really feel how real and raw it is. super un-commercialized, especially in the earlier seasons. it’s such a special vibe that a lot of tv shows just don’t have, and it’s super unique and cool and ugh. I love it. I love them

(they also hired megan ganz, who wrote for community, writes for and helped create mythic quest, along with a bunch of other stuff, during season 12. and she’s awesome. she is also on the sunny podcast with the three of them)

(oh yeah. idk if you’ve seen mythic quest, but rob mcelhenney plays ian grimm on that show, and also is one of the creators. charlie day also helped create mythic quest, but he hasn’t really been involved in it other than that.)

5. danny devito

self-explanatory. danny devito is on the show (starting s2ep1). what else do you need.

6. comedy gold

this might go without saying, as it is a sitcom, but this show is SO funny. all of the actors are so talented, the jokes are so well written, the deliveries are golden, the physical comedy is great, and so much more. I’m going to put some screencaps of popular memes you might have seen around that originated from this show to give you some idea of its comedic impact

there’s obviously hundreds of other amazing lines but I can’t very well list Everything right here right now, but. the point is there’s a lot of really good stuff.

7. neurodivergent-coded

another sitcom staple! except this one is pretty special, in that RCG are all neurodivergent. we don’t know rob and charlie’s specific diagnoses, but we know that glenn has adhd (recently diagnosed), and has talked about mania and depression before. rob recently said he has “been diagnosed with multiple neurodevelopmental disorders” but hasn’t clarified yet. charlie has just casually mentioned being neurodivergent. but, anyway. I’m not sure their projected neurodivergence onto the show is noticable to the untrained (neurotypical) eye, but as an autistic person I can definitely see it lmao. also, a lot of the fans agree that dennis and charlie are both on the spectrum, with a lot of other fans headcannoning the entire gang as autistic, which is awesome. dennis has also canonically been diagnosed with BPD.

if you’re interested, here’s a silly youtube video with a bunch of autistic coded moments from the show lmao. it’s kind of long but it’s very entertaining to me

final thoughts & disclaimers

but yeah! hope you enjoyed this unnecessarily long post. I did want to say a couple more things real quick:

1. if you want to give the show a shot without fully committing, I suggest you start with season 5. this is a rob mcelhenney-approved gateway, it’s a really great season, s5ep1 is a great episode to start off with, and it works relatively well out of context.

2. season 1 is my second to least favorite season. it is only 7 episodes long, but just keep that in mind. it’s general regarded as one of the worse seasons. if you want to start with season 1 that’s fine, it’s still good and I do genuinely enjoy it, but just keep that in mind. it only gets better

3. this is a very explicit show! it is rated tv-ma and is significantly more risque than community. there are also a lot of really offensive jokes (s3ep9 is basically unwatchable for me) but this goes along with the premise that the characters are genuinely bad people. the comedy theoretically comes from the ridiculousness of how out of touch the characters are, and I think it really does land about 95% of the time. some of the topics they joke about probably could have been approached with a bit more grace than RCG granted them, (there are five episodes that were removed from hulu because of use of blackface. yikes) but the show is meant to be blunt, extremely unserious, and somewhat cynical. it gets better with this stuff as it goes on, and it did start in 2005, so yeah. there’s just some stuff you have to take with a grain of salt I guess. RCG have grown a lot since 2005.

anyway! I genuiely love this show more and more each time I watch it. it just gets funnier and funnier, and listening to the sunny podcast, and watching the special features on the dvds my dad got me for my birthday (lmao), has just been so much fun. a ton of fuel for a great hyperfixation.

Ishmael and Heath will probably have the shared theme of: revenge can and will warp you into something you're not, possibly making you just like those that have harmed you in the past

Can't think of anything for Heath and Don, unfortunately, but I do have something else

Don and Hong Lu: playing a character, an exaderation of the self for the sake of others.

This is mostly bc of Don's Shi identity wherein she acts more outgoing for the sake of her subordinates and Hong Lu's naivety [contrasted by his surprising emotional intelligence]. Of course they are probably also Like That usually, but have made a shallower version of themselves to show and fool others.

Yeah it was pretty obvious that Heathcliff and Ishmael were bound together by their obsession with revenge hence Heathcliff being the Sinner who understands Ishmael the best despite not getting along, but after the Christmas event and how he actually thinks about the whole ordeal it got me kind of...doubting? Despite him being driven by revenge in the book the way he's portrayed in Limbus is def much tamer and softer compared to his book counterpart.

Ishmael is much more blinded by revenge than Heathcliff is, of course this is partly because she thought Queequeg to be dead but even in the dungeon she can't let go of her wish to kill Ahab, and it's consuming her and destroying her, while Heathcliff can't stop thinking about Cathy and the type of abuse he suffered at Wuthering Heights is different from the cultlike struggle at The Pequod, with a repeating cycle of abuse and loss befalling the estate, so I feel like it can go a lot of ways.

Actually like Gregor, Rodion & Sinclair's chapters are grouped together, I feel like Yi Sang, Ishmael and Heathcliff are a similar case, all three of them are closely associated with rain, hell Heathcliff's chapter have us going back to T Corp when it was an important part of Yi Sang's dungeon so it makes me wonder how all of that is coming back since the two previous chapters also emphasize grief + Queequeg's speech about "burials" with how Heathcliff is associated with graves and even gets an ID as Queequeg.

As for Don and Heathcliff, maybe they are both blinded by ideals in some ways, Don is such a strong believer in her own fantasy justice while Heathcliff despite blantantly despising the rich also wishes to become one of them thinking that like that he and Cathy can be together and he won't have to be so deeply haunted anymore, but the reality is not quite as simple going by both the original book and how PM works tend to be.

Don and Hong Lu's connection was a VERY good catch though I actually hadn't thought of that. Specially since Don seems to have some kind of connection to obsessively "reaching a star" and Hong Lu's EGO of "land of illusion". They also share the theme of the difference between reality and illusion that is pretty clear for Don and the Don Quixote book and while I haven't read Dream of The Red Chamber because it's difficult access and length I heard also deals with the difference between the genuine and the disingenuous both in the more human, literal way and in a more philosophical and metaphisical way. They are both fake people whether they realize this or not.

parker's personal much ado primer

i'm gonna keep posting much ado shit so here is some background on my personal favorite interpretation of the characters; this is not a primer on the actual play and these opinions somewhat differ from my like. canonical readings of these characters. this is what my personal action figures are like when i'm talking about aus. i'm mostly leaving physical descriptions out bc they can vary quite a bit.

when i say "we" i mean me and my wonderful spouse @zaxal because so much of this we sort of developed together over the years and none of these characters would be quite who they are to me without them.

Beatrice: beatrice is a trans woman to me!! i talked about this a bunch here. she will also always have red hair to me (thanks catherine tate for that one). she's hot, she's confident, she doesn't give a fuck what anyone thinks about her, she has relatively good judgement, she sometimes struggles to be vulnerable or soft with other people, she loves hero more than anything. she's also arrogant as hell! and often quite angry. beatrice is all fire all the time, she is alive and loud and proud and really likes having the last word. you will always know when she is in the room.

Benedick: oh this man is such a slut. grade a whore. pansexual as shit too. always cracking jokes to cover his own insecurities, desperately needs to be liked or if not that at least the center of attention--even if people don't like him, if they're thinking about him and watching him, that's good enough. he loves being witty and he is prideful and acts somewhat detached when in reality he feels things the Most and gets desperately attached to people and doesn't truly believe they could love him back.

Pedro: strong sense of duty. pedro is one that tends to vary more wildly because we've fallen into "suffocated by responsibility and shitty father, actually kinda shy and dumb and kind" which i love but in the play he is mostly just kinda shitty but i don't WANT him to be, so sometimes we try to lean more into the shitty side of him but often he is an earnest idiot (affectionate)

John: as mentioned in my beatrice post, i hc him as a trans man! sometimes more genderfluid or nonbinary. he's quiet, serious, and calm, and has been done fucking dirty by his dad/the world. generally our thought is that he was raised by his mom until about age 12 when she died and he got dumped on the palace steps and the king extremely resented taking him in and everyone was shitty to him because he's illegitimate. everyone thinks he's a villain and he knows he'll never convince them otherwise so he doesn't try; he just keeps to himself and doesn't form many attachments.

Hero: usually soft spoken but whip smart, doesn't like a lot of attention, stem major, big lesbian facing comphet vibes. she and beatrice are basically sisters. she's insightful but she doesn't share those insights with most people, and is by far the one who calls beatrice on her shit the most. we've ended up friendshipping hero and john because they're both such flat characters who exist at the whims of others and i love the idea of two wallflowers finding each other.

Claudio: obviously the villain. there are lots of different approaches to this--he might be an entitled golden boy, or a rich kid not used to hearing no, or an incel--but essentially he's a bully. i think its most interesting when he appears very nice at first and then when there's any amount of pushback things get ugly but i hate him so much i often make him pretty rancid from the start.

Margaret: outgoing and fairly relaxed, a jock, bi, in love with hero.

Conrade: john's bf, utterly loyal, and by a twist of fate it has become a running joke that he has tumblr disease (purple eyes/white hair). we usually depict him as similar to john--stolid, serious, not interested in taking anyone's shit, but lately i've been wondering if maybe he should be the bright sunshine in contrast to john.

Borachio: essentially a stray dog john and conrade adopted. he comes and goes. he's a mess.

Antonio: beatrice's surrogate parent, and elder queer genderfuck who uses ve/vir pronouns. general chaos agent.

one thing I love abt stamp has to be the dialogue and framing of some scenes, and how they tend to be connected to others even when at first glance there's no direct association between one or the other, esp bc it reveals stuff abt characters that aren't always explicitly stated. in ep 6, when vash asks wolfwood if there's something he wants to protect more than anything... the shot that follows is one of livio.

throughout ep 6 and 7 we learn that yes, the orphanage is important to wolfwood but his flashbacks? they're full of livio. of all the precious moments they shared. and he was visibly crushed when he realized what livio likely had to go through to become the way he is in the present.

...which is probably made worse by the fact that legato tells him livio "volunteered" for it all just to be with him. and current livio keeps repeating the words about catching up with him - which explains why wolfwood tries to push him away. wolfwood and livio are victims of smth beyond their control, but trauma and self-loathing (plus, legato) have led wolfwood to believe he's at fault for what happened to livio.

so even as wolfwood outwardly insists things would've been better off without livio in his life, the flashbacks are directly contradicting his words:

and it's lowkey ironic too, bc as the scenes from their past let the audience know, it was actually wolfwood who approached him first and kept reaching out towards him. all their scenes together show not only that they were happy, but cherished one another very much. it just drives home how unreliable his actual words are and how much he does indeed care about livio still (not that he ever stopped caring really). how important he is to wolfwood even now.

all of which vash absolutely notices. and we get vash who actively encourages wolfwood not to kill livio, and insists there's something livio has to remember about him even in his brainwashed state.

and it's not only interesting but also important that vash is the one to say this, bc hey one could think it's just another follow up on his pacifist, no-killing ideals? which yeah, to an extent.

but guess who outright says he wants to save his own brother and is seen trying to play the piano song they once played as kids even when potentially amnesiac, after losing nai?

honestly i get that the yoohankim ship isnt the most popular orv ship but their dynamic is soooo desperate and tsundere and feral, its so fantastic and heartwrenching and beautiful. these three will kill for each other, die for each other, live for each other, for better or for worse, kdj and hsy don’t believe they’re anything special to anyone ever and yjh has a wet cat mentality combined with a savior complex, they are the most complicated creatures to ever interact i mean

right off the bat we learn that yjh has the ability to reset the timeline to a specific point and has done so hundreds of times, tossing away every friendship and lover and ally he's ever gained in order to keep himself from dying and maybe do it RIGHT this time, whatever that means, however many allies he can save this time. and he's turned all his choices into strategic maneuvers and tried to cut out his own empathy and worked with people he despised in an effort to find the survival route BUT THEN. BUT THEN KDJ SURPRISES HIM.

KDJ SURPRISES HIM AND HE THOUGHT HE COULD NO LONGER BE SURPRISED BUT THIS GUY HE'S NEVER EVEN MET IN ANY OF HIS HUNDREDS OF RESETS BUSTS OUT AND CHANGES EVERYTHING. because he has NEVER seen kdj in any of the other timelines and kdj KNOWS this because he's read the novelized version of every single one of yjh's attempts to reach a happy ending, and kdj is TERRIFIED by this because that means kdj has died in every other timeline before the story has even gotten the chance to really start and kdj really wants to know how this story ends dammit!!, and as yjh gets to know kdj he ALSO becomes terrified of this bc he genuinely likes kdj and he starts to get so desperate and hopeful and feral about kdj because he JUST. KEEPS. SURVIVING. and yjh DOESNT GET IT because people DONT JUST SURVIVE LIKE THAT HERE and he starts WANTING him to live and starts NEEDING HIM to live because for the first time in HUNDREDS OF YEARS and HUNDREDS OF TIMELINES something is DIFFERENT and he starts feeling the need to not just survive but actually LIVE bc he CANT reset anymore because

because he cant be sure that if he resets kdj will still BE THERE. and he NEEDS kdj to be there now, even if they aren't fighting together physically side by side he starts to trust that kdj will be on his side and help him out and help everyone ELSE out and he won't lose the people he used to care about, who he still cares about, who he started to think he COULDNT care about because they never remembered him the way he remembered them.

kdj's very existence means yjh can't take the easy emotionless way out of difficult situations whenever anything small goes wrong and he has to start living moment by moment like every other human being again. kdj makes him HUMAN again and kdj doesnt get it at first bc to him yjh is still just a character, just a fiction he's read about and obsessed over and insulted and loved, and kdj starts to see the world as a story instead of real life in the exact opposite of yjh's path to seeing the world as a life again and kdj thinks about living as ‘seeing the story through to the end’ instead of ‘surving because i dont want to die’ and in a glacier's pace kdj has to start confronting that this is real and active and now and yjh is real and a human and maybe he DOESNT know everything about him and maybe he CAN have an honest relationship with him and maybe yjh CAN surprise him and change and change the narrative and be more than the man he was written as originally

and hsy plays an integral role in these realizations bc she helps bridge kdj's real life actions pre-plot with his 'fake' story role while ALSO playing into the 'this is a story' aspect of their reality bc she ALSO read some of the novelized version of yjh's life and she ALSO tends to see people as characters and their current life as a story they need to strategize through in order to survive

but she's not as deep into that mindset as kdj and feels guilty about her actions even when she tries not to and starts getting invested in kdj as both a person and a savior even though she hates him she also respects him and thinks he's annoying and a good strategist and that he has extremely bad taste and she used to cyberbully him bc she didn’t understand his devotion and she believes he's the best chance to reach a happy ending alive and that he couldn’t possibly care about her survival as long as yjh is still alive

bc she's very aware that she won't make it long in the novel by herself let alone work WITH yjh and help him and save him and learn to appreciate yjh as a person instead of as a character she didn't like in a story she hated which has now become her LIFE which she hates and loves and wants to survive in no matter the cost even though she feels guilty every time kdj asks her to help him do something that will hurt kdj/their allies because she KNOWS he only asks her to do things he believes are strategically sound, is hurt bc she knows he only asks her bc he thinks she’s coldhearted and ruthless enough, bc he thinks she doesn’t care about him, bc she thinks kdj is right to think all these things and she trusts him even as she feels like she's burning her own bridges down trying to follow his instructions, trying to keep yjh alive, trying to keep HERSELF alive, even as she makes decisions that she knows are despicable, even as she hates that she’s doing these things and hates that she feels guilty over trying to keep herself alive. she simultaneously thinks of herself as the baddest bitch she knows while also the worst human in existence and she can't understand why kdj and yjh keep her around but at the same time like hell would she ever leave them permanently while they're still offering her their time and their affections, however strong those may be.

even when she purposefully acts against kdj he just sits her down and talks to her bc he can see how much its messed her up, how even when she thought she knew what she was doing she couldn’t predict the results and couldnt predict how badly it’d mess her up and he gets it and she just hates it, she hates how distanced kdj can act despite how much she knows he cares and how much they all care about him

yjh and hsy bond over how stupid kdj is and how they cannot maintain their lives without him and while a part of hsy is constantly terrified that yjh will kill her for being annoying or suspicious or for following a dumbass plan she also learns to trust that yjh will wait and see how things fall through and trust that she was only doing what she thought was best/what KDJ thought was best, that yjh is a lot less likely to kill people he’d written off in previous timelines now that he’s met them, learns to know that yjh recognizes there’s something about her that is similar to kdj and that kdj likes and even if he can’t understand it and it sometimes makes him angry or jealous he still respects it and respects her

And yeah yjh is described as one of the prettiest most handsome people anyone has ever seen, both by kdj in the narrative as well as verbally by other characters, and yeah people say kdj is ugly but that’s only relative to the other extremely beautiful people he’s surrounded by. And yeah a few call hsy ugly but that’s only when a character is actually upset about something she’s done and is taking it out in insults. kdj himself calls her beautiful and thinks she’s one of the smartest most annoying people in his life. she almost gets him killed and he just thinks she’s a genius. yjh doesnt seem to care much at all about physical appearances and just becomes obsessed with how these two people he’s never seen survive so long keep pushing and living and help him and keep their group alive, the man’s got competency kink like no tomorrow and never realized it until now and he doesnt know what to do or how to live if they aren’t living too. They are all supremely flawed people who started at each other’s throats and misunderstand each other consistently and repeatedly but work past it anyway with a kind of reckless devotion one can only have after seeing people at their worst and realizing you love them anyway, and if that isnt endgame post-apocalypse polyam goals i just don’t know what to tell you

whats there not to love....anyway im giving u....TWO kin assignments. And the first one...one of the highest honors i can bestow onto you. One of my top 5 fav bandori characters which is lisa imai. she really loves gyaru and fashion in general and she also really loves amigurumis but she denies it bcs she feels like it doesnt fit her whole cool charismatic persona LOL. shes really niceys. from the wikia: Lisa is a friendly and lively girl who appears mature and calm. Despite her appearance, Lisa acts as the mediator in tense situations, and takes care of everyone well. It's because of her that Roselia (the band shes in) is able to continue to stick together despite the contrasting members personalities and disagreements at times. She often chides the others if she feels necessary, bringing balance to the group.

Lisa is very caring in nature, and is able to notice when a friend is troubled, usually being the first to try and help. She does her best to do what she can, sometimes to a fault, where she'll put her all into something regardless of her own feelings. Adding to her caring nature, she sometimes calls herself an "onee-san", but the other characters have also compared her to a mother at times.

Despite her skills and proficiency as a bassist Lisa believes she is the least skilled member of Roselia, and can get quite sentimental at times as well. She easily cries when her friends, or especially Yukina, reaffirm just how much she is needed in the band or in general. However as time goes on, she becomes more confident and is able to call herself a proud member of Roselia.

And the second one is nanami hiromachi:3 shes SO silly shes in a horror research club at her highschool but all they do is watch horror movies rlly...shes so silly that she thinks shes TOO silly and is shy abt it. THE tism is strong in this one....And shes PINK how fitting is that. anyway from the wikia: It is due to her parents' odd nature that Nanami yearns to be a normal girl, as she believes that being normal is the only way to make and keep friends. However, because she inherited their intellect, talent, and artistic skills, people have had high expectations of her. As a result, others were jealous of her and she had no friends at all, especially when she won an art contest in middle school. This isolation resulted in her deciding to hide her talented and genius nature. She joined Morfonica because of the popularity of the girls' band trend, believing that way she'll be able to finally become normal. Nanami is a somewhat peculiar girl who longs to be normal, and constantly wonders whether the things she does or says are normal. She worries about standing out and hides her true self in order to blend in. Due to the fact that she hasn't had many friends, Nanami has no idea how to stop people when they argue and such, was even willing to search the internet for a guide for that.

Though she hides it, she gets excellent grades, has great artistic skill, and is a bit of a prodigy. She tends to brush her achievements off with phrases like "it was just a coincidence" or "this is nothing special". Adding to her genius nature, she is able to do things just with a bit of research on the internet, such as arranging songs or making accessories for the band's outfits. While pursuing the "normalcy" she yearns for, Nanami has sometimes ended up doing things that are hard to achieve normally or aren't regarded as normal, such as getting an average grade on all of her tests.

So... You know how Akhos wears red glasses? Here's a bit of Ash lore for ya: I wear red glasses too! So the first time I saw him, I hated him. I felt a rivalry. But... As I hated him... I fell in love with him.

My S/I and him absolutely hate each other at first. They're always at each other's necks and bickering constantly. But it's pretty obvious whenever those insults don't have that same bite to them, when they're sneaking glances at each other instead of wanting to punch each other. They both fall for each other so hard.

Mikhail teases Akhos quite a bit, and Akhos denies his feelings every time.

"Oh please, her?! A foul beast like her is in no way suited to be the leading lady of my story!"

(Oh and, once they do get together, Akhos does affectionately call her "my leading lady". He calls Pyra something similar in his boss fights, but the difference here is that Pyra is the leading lady of the story. Ash is HIS leading lady.)

All Akhos can imagine is Ash being his leading lady. More and more of the plays he writes end up being about her. She's become his muse. Obrona teases him quite a lot for it, saying that she'll show Ash the play he wrote that features a main character that just-so-happens to have dark red glasses and long, black hair like Ash does.

As for Ash, she tries to deny her feelings. But she can't for very long. Mikhail catches her staring quite often, and although she tries to deny it, she gets quite flustered. Enough pressure, and she admits to it.

However, Ash is quite close with Patroka! Since they're such close friends, Ash just tells her. Tells her that she has a crush on Akhos.

Patroka is disappointed. SO disappointed. She's all 😐. Really?! Akhos?! Ash could do better than him! She thought Ash hated him!

"Well- I mean- Yeah! ... But he's cute. And so strong. And that passion he has for his writing... I admire it so dearly. He has such stunning eyes and-"

I love Jin, but he is not the kind of man you discuss your feelings with LMAAOO. However, he does pick up on it. He thinks that Ash works well with Akhos and so they often do a lot of Torna work together.

Ash loves Malos. Loves him so so so much. She loves how bold he is, and he's the reason Ash swears so much. Ash kinda tends to follow him around like a little duckling. I won't get into Ash's backstory right now, but it's not very happy. Her old Driver treated her very poorly, and Torna was what helped he'd escape from that horrible situation. She'd do anything for Torna not because she believes in their goal, but because she loves them all. Ash gets all happy whenever Malos calls her a little shit!

(It's pretty funny how huge he is considering that Ash is around 5'2")

I actually think that Malos was the first one who noticed! He doesn't pay Ash too much mind usually, but she likes to be around him. So he picks up on the little things, like when she isn't looking at Akhos with so much hatred anymore.

Anyhow, Akhos and Ash do get together eventually! And they're very sweet and cute... Until the end. Ash watches what happens, is heartbroken, and suffers a very similar fate. However, Blades are Blades and you can have Ash in your party too eventually. I like to think they find each other in almost every single life they live and always fall in love. They truly are soulmates.

After everything that had happened in Hawkins, everyone agreed to a weekly hang out. Everyone knew not to ask or plan something with any of your little family on Sunday. Typically it was breakfast at the diner and then hanging out at someone's house. This sunday it was warm so everyone is at steves for the day. Of course since you have been dating Michael for over a year he is welcome too. Well welcomed as in no one tells you no, but really no one wants him here. Typically when one graduates they loose their fuck boy tendencies, but not micheal. Sometimes you wonder what the point is, why stay with him? I mean that is what everyone asks you anyways, the answer is simple. He is doing you a favor by going out with you. No one else would ever want to go out with you. It breaks your heart, you are a strong woman, but hearing those words over and over again you can't help but believe them. You feel like you are slowly losing yourself, and you are not the only one either. The group sees it. The group knows you know he is playing you. Well today was enough. Steve's heart has been breaking for you. Not even because he is in love with you, but because he is your best friend and has helped you grow so much. But Michael is breaking you back down.

It was small really. At breakfast, you and Michael were sitting together, as always. You tend to like to have physical contact, so you were holding his hand on the table. Yet when the waitress came over to take your order he quickly let go of your hand. You thought no one saw, and thanked the stars no one did. How embarrassing is it that your own boyfriend doesnt even want to hold your hand. But Steve saw, he always sees you. At that moment Steve knew today was the day, he either yells at Michael or tells you how he feels. He knows you don't like negative attention, so he waits until you are back at his place for the pool party.

Micheal is in the water minding his own business, not even paying attention to you. So like he has always done, Steve comes to your rescue to help put on the sun block. “Thanks stevie. I couldn't quite get back.”

“No worries, pretty girl. I will always be here for you. That being said, I can always be honest with you, Y/N right?”

Turning to face him you simply say, “Of course Steve I would want nothing but the truth.”

He almost wishes you would have stayed turned around so he didn't have to see your eyes when he broke your heart. “Okay well please let me go and don’t interrupt me. I am not sure why you're still with michael. But that is your business. However it becomes my business when you are clearly miserable. Honey, I have no idea what he is saying to you, but I can say with absolute honesty that it is a lie. You are so beautiful, but pretty girl your light is going out. And I know for a fact it is him. He is the biggest player still around, you know this and so do i. You can have any guy you want, stop letting him play around with you. You need a man, but he is a boy.” He knew this was it. Your mouth was opening and shutting. You were going to ice him out for good. You just look at him and continue to blink. Eventually it all gets too much and you stand.

“Micheal, let's go. I need to go home.” Everyone stops and stares at you, as we have established this Sunday hang out is sacred. He just yells back that he will meet you at your house. Rolling your eyes you shout “Don't bother” and walk off to your car.

You don't know what happened once you left, in hindsight maybe you should have stayed. But you needed to get out and get some air. You have spent all day on the roof. You have asked the sky, the clouds, the sun, the moon, and the stars for an answer. Yet you keep getting the same answer. To break up with michael. Looking at the sky one more time hoping for a different answer, looking for an answer you have the courage to do. But you are met with the same answer, so in a moment of bravery you climb in your room ready to do what needs to be done. Picking up the phone you dial his number and hype yourself up, you can do this. No more being miserable. Yet when you were met with the voicemail you do what you can with the courage you have, leaving a message. “Your stuff is in a box on the porch, come pick it up by Monday. We are done.” The message was simple, but your feelings were not so simple. You almost called back to say nevermind, but instead you ended up calling the number of your best friend. The one that you know can help you.

Picking up the phone you dial a number you have memorized since he got it, “Steve, I need you.” You don't even hear what he says. What gets you out of your panic induced trance is the opening and closing of your door. The trance has ended but the pacing has begun, “I did it. I ended it. You were right. I have been feeling like this awhile. But he told him no one would ever love me-”

“That is the biggest lie I have ever heard. He is lying to you sweetheart,” he grabs your hand and leads you to the couch. He sits you down and then gets on his knees in front of you. “You just need someone to show you how you deserve to be loved. You need someone that you can trust. You need someone that will treat you like royalty because honey you are. You need someone to always hold your hand.” at this he grabs your hands in his. “I know it's not easy, but I am proud of you. I would love to be that man. Man, not a boy. I will love you, I will be trustworthy, I will treat you like royalty, and most important;y i will hold your hand. But I know this is all a bit much. So I will wait for you. But never hesitate to tell me when you are ready, I love you and will wait however long you need. Just call me when you need a man.”

You think he is going to pull away and leave, thinking it was all a joke. But no. He gets up and moves to sit with you on the couch. That is how you spend the night. In the arms of a man who loves you and will wait until you are ready. It is not going to be easy, but you now have a light at the end of the tunnel, your stevie.

okay yk how tumblr will like throw random posts from ppl u dont follow on ur dash just cuz u post about a topic a lot? before i (somewhat) figured out how this app worked that feature tormented me. n i seen someone frame juri& shiori’s ending as if juri was being freed from some evil controlling abusive fake gay bitch when if anything, following the show’s ending juriori ends on somewhat of an optimistic note? u literally have ruka’s episode end with ‘wish as hard as u can, and they may know ur feelings’ with shiori walking behind juri and juri slowing down to let her catch up & shiori end up w/ a locket of her own in the badminton scene watching juri and utena play the game w/ envy. this isnt so much what that person thought so much as (read to me as) shiori coming to terms with her love for juri w/o wanting to ‘beat’ her at the game of vulnerability or ‘destroy the me in her glare’, and juri being open with herself in a way she before this never allowed herself to be. the juri we were introduced to dont wanna be saved, shes stewing in her own misery & simultaneously lords her own misery over other’s heads. she thinks shes better than the other duelists bc she has no immediate evident need for anthy, but believed her own feelings for shiori were so impossible to realize that a miracle (& anthy as the object of such, the facilitator of this ‘ miracle ‘) was needed to realize such. and that makes juri an amazing character. i find with juri especially that people tend to project their own pasts onto her which is fair but it dissuades them from analyzing her as a character in a narrative which is so sad cuz her arc w shiori (& ruka even) is so fascinating… the girls may have more in common w blueberry touga than they think in wanting to ‘save’ juri here lolol

i had to look up what that word meant LOL but i feel like fans dont talk about utena’s own arc w/ the same sophistication that they do the other characters which is crazy cuz its literally a show about her. its part of my own motivation for an eventual rewatch , bc her arc is so amazing but ppl just think shes a complete dumbass & a jock when shes really a teenage girl whos trapped n is the victor of all of the duelists bc she grows to become aware. of where she failed and is unafraid to face her flaws in a way very few characters r able to become cognizant toward. imo nanami was the closest to ‘revolution’ outside of utenanthy bc she was the closest to realizing her flaw but couldnt accept being ‘ordinary’ in a way utena did. and utena’s victory, their destruction of the castle + self deigned exit from the narrative in the finale spawns everyone else’s eventual path to liberation. shes just my little boy 🥲🥲🥲also everybody wants to be an anthy or utena girl but theyre more like juri or blueberry touga than they think. soz!
