Dabi is surprisingly a lightweight. You honestly would’ve never figured by looking at him, but as you think back on it, you’ve never really seen him drink a lot. Not when there were celebratory parties, or when things didn’t go right for him. What are some connections between The Doors and Ghost?

I bet many rock musicians nowadays will list The Doors as one of their musical influences, but I've noted some interesting references to Jim Morrison and his band in Ghost's productions, and so I've decided to list here the parallels.

1. Papa Nihil is basically a love letter to Jim Morrison

The Doors wasn't a metal band, but back in the late 60s to 70s, they were surely huge. And not only young Papa Nihil reminds us of Morrison, as it was intended by Justin Andrews, who portrayed Nihil in every appearance.

From the clothing to the dancing, Justin "channeled him as Young Papa Nihil in Kiss The Go-Goat". (Plus: he's such a fanboy.)

2. Whisky a Go Go

Whisky a Go Go is a historic nightclub in California, where many bands and singers performed through the 60s. One of them being, of course, The Doors... Justin also did the relation between Nihil and Jim Morrison due to the nightclub!

3. Papa Emeritus III is dragged off stage by securities

We all know, we all remember, we all mourn to this day. And interestingly enough, back in '67, during a concert in Connecticut, police officers dragged Jim Morrison off stage, and he was arrested for indecency (TL;DR: he was in the showers with a girl backstage, but hey, this is the 60s).

Morrison was the first rockstar to be arrested onstage during a live performance. Watch it happening here.

4. Vocal and melodic influences

In a 2017 interview for the Heavy Demons Radio Show, when asked about songwriting, Tobias Forge stated that The Doors is one of their influences, saying that "there's a little 'Jim Morrison' in there in a way". He explained how the vocals are a major motif in Ghost's music rather than just cool riffs.

EDIT: my personal addition is - Jim Morrison has a song called "The Ghost Song", and it's quite funky. Anyway, not really related, just wanted to share.

Oh man, each item at the Whisky a Go Go had a little informative card with it but so far all I've seen in full is the one for the Scooby Doo cel. I NEED information. I want to transcribe it ALL. Like, the white shirt? Plaque beside it, I can make out "T-Shirt from the 1969 Whisky A Go Go Concert. Cotton shirt" and there's more I just can't read from the picture I'm looking at ;-; AND THE SAX! THE SAX HAD A CARD TOO! I want to know if it says when or why he started playing... it's LORE, y'all...

Anyway the magazine covers wallpapering the one wall are for Rolling Stone, Life, and Creem. Haven't been able to find a clearer shot of the Creem cover but to tje right of the magazine name it says "Ghost" and "Delaney and Bossie" (Bessie? Bennie?) and there's a thrift item I can't make out. The Rolling Stone cover just says "THE DOPE CRISIS" and "GHOST." Succinct! And the Life cover says "Papa Nihil- WHO IS THIS MAN AND WHY ARE YOUR CHILDREN READY TO FOLLOW HIM?" Published September 5 1969. Cost 40cents!

im fully rewriting my concepts and ideas of their dynamic which is fitting bc im also switching blogs (old one: @wwhisk)

my thing right now that im realizing is that they are not stem major vs arts major bc theyre both artists kaveh is an architect and alhaitham is a scribe so honestly kaveh is closer to stem than alhaitham bc the amount of math an architect has to do is terrifying (tbh its only studying once u actually get on the field u hire engineers and shit to do ur math for u) but alhaitham is in linguistics so i dont think he wouldve ever done anything math related bc hes rly smart so i think he knows its mostly made up so theres not rly any point he would study math to study ppl and their ideas and the things they make up

thats actually smth thats rly important abt him is that he studies the world but he doesnt rly study ppl especially not the way that someone like neuvillette does bc i dont think he views himself as a person but its less of an osamu dazai kinda thing and more of a he knows hes so much smarter than everyone else and he knows that intelligence and humanity cannot coexist which is also why he keeps his distance from ppl bc smth abt the mediocre majority

thats so cute tho he keeps his distance from most ppl but he still keeps kaveh rly close bc kaveh is rly smart too

i think that when they met in school and alhaitham realized that kavehs just like him it wasnt that anything bad ever happened between them and it absolutely was not some stupid fight that tore them apart i think that they got scared of having someone that understands them like that bc it can be good having that but they understand the way that it can be cataclysmic it can absolutely destroy them so they stayed away from it and ive been trying to figure out which side it wouldve come from more i think kaveh but it was probably very equal

their arguments changed from akademiya days to now bc now its smth comfortable its like dazai blowing up chuuyas car when he left bc anger is easier to deal with than grief and longing and regret so they argue to express themselves the only way that theyve learned how and they understand each other perfectly but the way that it used to be was smth hinting at that but not quite there it was a lot more defensive bc they wanted to have someone like them but it was a test of sorts for each other and for themselves to see if they could handle it

that post that's like "u can tell when someone who's writing a scene w alcohol has never drank bc they'll have the character drink an insane amount" well. I did that once IRL actually. I'd only ever drank wine (like 10% alcohol at most) and I'd drink like 2/3-3/4 of a bottle and that would be a Good Amount. I'd be pretty drunk but not like sick or anything.

then one time I was mega stressed and living in a motel room temporarily and there was a liquor store right between my workplace and the motel. so I stopped in and got a 10-pack of those little single shot bottles of fireball (35%!) and a 20oz Dr Pepper to mix it with. I hadn't really ever drank anything that strong before.

did you guess 5? bc yeah it was 5. that's way too many shots of fireball. I realized pretty quick after "ooh, that was maybe a bit much actually." so I just lay down on the motel bed and put on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives till my wife got in. I was fine the next day and everything (I typically don't get hangovers) but during it I was like WAY out of it lol. so people who haven't drank much: learn from my mistakes and start with 1 or 2 shots of liquor first
