Also!! I decorated his with Filipino parols , which are like our christmas lights. They usually come in all diff colors, like red and green and they’re big and lanterny; and highkey his explosions reminded me of these explosions of colors and light in the christmas night :)

Bnha Kanji Christmas Day 1: Tenya Iida!

So this highkey is a tenya blog, and I wanted to start with my beautiful husband 🥺💗

I think Iida is an old family name in Japan, so i think it builds on the generational prominence of the Iida family in the hero world

I also think the 天 kanji, which is both tenya and tensei’s name, correlates to their duty to justice and righteousness.

And I’ve literally never seen that 哉 kanji, but i think its on brand for mr karate chop ☺️🌸

Lil christmas hc: i hc that tenya is a peppermint guy (and so am I) and bruhhh all i want to do is buy an aggregious amount of candy canes with him right after christmas when they’re on sale 🥺

Bnha Kanji Christmas Day 5: Aizawa Shouta!

This wreath is kinda the most LMAO but i wanted to draw smn with ribbons for this beautiful man

This is a p standard last name, that i don’t think related specifically to Shōta, except maybe the 相 togetherness that he promotes by being a teacher 🥰

But aaa! They snuck in the 消 kanji for erase!

I know for a fact that there are a lot of v literal names kanji wise in bnha, but i think this is more of a subtle one :)

Bnha Kanji Christmas Day 4:

Todoroki Shōto!

First, i thought this mangacap was perfect cuz he already had a snowman shirt on omgg 🥺🥰

Also, wow his name is actually so perfect. His first name has both the hot and the cold with the 焦 and the 凍 kanji.

Also related but i think the kanji for todoroki is rlly funny cuz its basically the kanji for car ‘車’ three times, and all together it means the rumbling sound loll.

Idk what shoto’s christmases were like growing up, but i hope as an adult, he spends it with ppl that make him happy 🥺🎄

Bnha Kanji Christmas Day 3: Kirishima Eijiro!

!! Kiri’s kanji is interesting bc they mainly have to do with cutting and sharpness, rather than like hardness or shielding, which i think is rlly interesting!

I think if anything, if his name kinda connotes him as a weapon, being the amazing talented hero he is, he shows can do it all: shield, attack, support, etc 💥

Also wahh christmas hc: bc he’s all about chivalry and into the classics, i feel like kiri would be the kinda guy to set up mistletoe to catch you off guard, and when you find yourself under the mistletoe, he’d pull you close mischeviously and be like, “looks like we gotta!” And then he’d steal a lil kiss 🥰

Bnha Kanji Christmas Day 6:

Dabi aka Todoroki Touya!

Omg the way his name made my heart wrench omg

First, i didn’t know Dabi actually meant anything; I thought it’d just be a katakana ダビ written name. BUT FULLY: DABI MEANS CREMATION, which i think so sooo cool omg. That’s so sick that’s what he chose as his name AA

But listen, Touya? Touya is a beautiful name. It means literally from the kanji ‘light arrow’, and enji probably named him this with the idea that he’d be this light that’d send the todorokis to into the future, to that number one spot. Enji’s sentiment is fucked, period. But Touya is a name of hope, and it’s beautiful.

I honestly didn’t wanna do christmas art for this bc i was so shook by his name, but oh to cuddle with dabi sleeping in on christmas morning

Bnha Kanji Christmas!

I’m doing another kanji event! This time, I’m gonna do my bnha babies 💗 i’m going to use the tag ‘bea’s bnha kanji’ for this event :)

DISCLAIMER: I am not the first person to do this! KansaiChick was the first person I saw doing literal kanji translations for bnha, and I was inspired by her work to do my hq event in October! Her website is kansaichick.com and she has dedicated blog posts and videos explaining bnha names. Here’s a link to her tag on all the bnha names she’s done so far! Her video on Deku’s name is rlly fire so check that one out :))

While this idea isn’t entirely new, I’m still doing my own research to study these names (along with the lil doodles and presentation lol).
