i love the black dragons arc SO. MUCH. and chapters 100 and 101 are two of my favorites. every kid in this story is always acting like they're grown ups, like they're the strongest, and these moments in which they open their hearts and talk about their weaknesses are just so heartwarming to me. because that's who they are, they're just kids carrying their burdens and trying to find a place where they belong. and this is what toman truly represents for them. this is mikey's dream. this is what takemichi is trying to protect.

TOKYO REVENGERS TRIGGER LIST

i've been wanting to get more people into tokyo revengers, and i'm about to publish a post on why to read it too, but i am also very aware that this story contains multiple triggers.

first of all, this is a story about gangs, so do expect A LOT of physical violence. though most of the heavy stuff we see/hear about happen in the present timeline (when the characters are in their mid 20s and the toman gang is turned into an actual evil crime organization), some of them also happen in the past timeline (when they're in middle/high school and toman is just a gang of kids riding motorcycles and fighting each other). it's a time traveling story and there will be many deaths, thought the whole plot is about takemichi trying to save everyone's lives. also, most of the kids involved in the gangs struggle with real problematic backgrounds that got them traumatized one way or another. some of the triggers here are from these kid's stories.

this is important because this is a story about kids involved in a violent world. yes you will see them happy and being best bros and acting like the kids they actually are (just how they should be <3), but you'll also see them suffer. so.......yeah. be ready for that.

anyway, here are the triggers (if i remember something else i'll edit this post later):

tw: violence, injuries, blood, weapons, death, car accident, suicide, abuse, prostitution, drug mention, rape, parental abandonment

idk if it's relevant but the toman gang uses the manji symbol, a swastika. i'm sure most people know that it is a buddhist symbol, but since it's heavily associated with nazism, it might be a sensitive image for some people.

some moments under the cut that i think are worth mentioning bc they're easier to skip, since they only happen once and arent major spoilers for the story:

end of chapter 9: when takemichi goes back to the past, he wakes up with a girl in her underwear on top of him. we don't know her exact age but she's younger than 15. takemichi runs away and nothing happens between them, and the whole situation is about her wanting to "grow up faster" and make her love interest jealous (she explains it in chapter 11). takemichi can't remember a thing, because it was his 14yo self that got in that situation. but still, she's a minor and in this scene she's shown in a very sexualized way (she's seen in her underwear in the last 2 pages of chapter 9 and the first 2 of chapter 10).

chapter 11: the conflict with the gang moebius is introduced. the episode that triggered it was the moebius guys getting into a fight with one of toman's member's friend. in this conflict, they raped his girlfriend. there's a panel in page 12 with this flashback that can be disturbing (EDIT: this same panel is shown again in chapter 47, page 5, during osanai's retrospective of the conflict!). in chapter 12, draken and mikey visit the girl at the hospital and we learn about her real bad state. so the situation is mentioned again, and we see her face. this episode is briefly mentioned again in chapter 14, page 5, and chapter 16, page 3. rape is mentioned other times in the story, not as something specific that happened to someone, but as a behavior of more agressive gangs/crime organizations.
