“Do you miss playing quidditch?” Remus asked during a quiet moment in front of the fire. If Sirius didn’t want to discuss it he’d drop the subject, but he’d gotten the sense lately that Sirius was growing nostalgic, and he didn’t know if Sirius needed to talk it out. 

Sirius looked away from the fire to meet Remus’ eyes for a moment before he got caught up in watching the fire again. 

Remus almost thought he wouldn’t respond, but after a pause Sirius blew out a breath. 

“I miss competition. I mean I fly with James and Marlene all the time and they let me play as the Beater, so that’s fun in its way. But I miss the thrill of the pressure of a game. I miss watching the crowd go wild for our team. I miss the high fives and the hugs after the fact. I miss the camaraderie of being a part of something.”

He turned to face Remus. 

“Thanks for asking. I miss it, but I’m okay. Helped to say it out loud though. I couldn’t really bother James with it, but thank you for listening and thanks for letting me bother you instead.”

Remus shook his head and squeezed Sirius’ hand. 

“Not a bother. Never a bother.”

Sirius smiled and squeezed back. 

“I know that. Thank you Moony.”
