Torisai Genie AU

Somehow, Toritsuka gets his grubby little hands on a real life genie bottle populated by one very grumpy Saiki Kusuo.

Naturally Toritsuka immediately tries to wish for porn, sex, etc, but Saiki straight-up refuses to grant those wishes and threatens to deduct a wish if he asks for used panties one more time.

Finally Toritsuka decides to wish for a lot of money instead, which Saiki hands to him in fat stacks of cash. Except of course, any teenager having fat stacks of cash is extremely suspicious and it's not like you can buy a car with that money without a driver's license. Even if Toritsuka tries to buy a house they'll want to check his cash to make sure it's not all stolen and they'll need lots of legal documents etc, and it's such a hassle that he just doesn't end up able to do much more than buy tons of food and porn. Which is great up until he realizes this is the same shit he was doing before ANYWAYS, except now he has a judgy genie following him around and complaining about it.

Toritsuka briefly flirts with the idea of wishing for power, but fails miserably at coming up with a viable wording for it. He's like "what if you make me prime minister" and Saiki's like "you'd get fired and arrested within the week for your perv habits". He's genuinely stumped for a while as to what to ask for his second wish now that sex stuff and money were both off the table.

Finally Toritsuka realizes that he can wish for a girlfriend. Saiki refuses to coerce anyone into it though, so he has to somehow make Toritsuka genuinely attractive to a woman. He ends up having to train Toritsuka to be a little more of a gentleman, to actually wear clothes that flatter him, to throw that horrid headband in the trash, etc. They go out on fake dates, flirt, hold hands, even cuddle on the couch. During the process, Saiki kinda ends up developing his own crush on Toritsuka, to his enormous mortification.

Well, Saiki's training works and Toritsuka manages to land a girlfriend. She's pretty much everything Toritsuka wanted, down to the high libido, and Saiki is very annoyed about it, but there's nothing he can really do.

Instead, Saiki tries to convince Toritsuka to use his third wish to free him from the genie curse. Toritsuka is actually very easily convinced because a) he genuinely can't even think up a third wish to ask for, b) he's trying to NOT think of Saiki while on his hot dates with his new girlfriend but it's impossible with Saiki or his bottle nearby all the time, and also c) he feels kinda bad for Saiki who has to deal with schmucks like him or get shoved back in a bottle.

So Toritsuka wishes for Saiki to be free... but it turns out that there's a protective clause in the genie curse against that exact situation, so it doesn't work at all. Saiki is devastated but at least Toritsuka is still eligible for a third wish so he doesn't have to go back in the bottle.

Still, Saiki's not sure if it's better or worse than having to deal with watching the two lovebirds all the time. He tests his limits and tries to stay as far away from Toritsuka and his bottle as he can, and asks for Toritsuka to leave the bottle in his room and go to the girl's house instead if they're going to be doing stuff.

Except that Toritsuka is actually not enjoying this girlfriend situation as much as he thought he would. She's very forward and brazen, and Toritsuka is kinda intimidated and nervous and uncomfortable about the whole thing. It's very different to see girls do stuff on-screen or in a mag vs in real life, and he keeps thinking of how how hanging out with Saiki felt so much more natural.

It all comes to a head when the girl's making big moves on him and Toritsuka freaks out, and says out loud, "I wish Saiki was here with me!!"

Saiki gets yanked from where he was to Toritsuka's side, which takes him out of the range of the bottle, which short-circuits the curse because it usually grants the third wish and slams the genie back in the bottle simultaneously. Saiki is freed from the curse, and he stares at Toritsuka in shock and awe.

The girl screams, and they both run hurriedly out of her place, holding hands and laughing in disbelief. And when Saiki sweeps Toritsuka into a hug of gratitude, Toritsuka leans in to kiss his mouth. 💜💓

Loki Mid-Season Trailer Breakdown

SPOILERS!

So I just watched the mid-season trailer and there were some interesting shots in there that I want to talk about, I've also looked back at some of the footage from previous trailers that were released, so this is going to be a kind of breakdown/theory post on what I think is going to be happening in the last two episodes.

I've already said in a previous post that I think Loki will timeslip away right as the loom explodes and then go around recruiting the gang together and I think from this trailer that is still the most likely scenario.

We get this shot in previous trailer of Loki time-slipping to the Mcdonalds Sylvie works at:

I think this might be linked to the behind the scenes images of Loki and Sylvie outside the Mcdonalds. I also think at first she will reject Loki and walk away just like she did in episode 2. We get some shots in this trailer of Sylvie listening to a record and we know that record spaghettifies from other trailers. So I think after dismissing Loki's concerns, Sylvie goes home to listen to her record and then the world literally starts disintegrating around her, she'll go find Loki and that's when they'll have the conversation in the bar about what Loki really wants and then Loki will take her back to the TVA.

We also see Loki talking to Mobius in the Jet Ski shop trying to tell him that the TVA is gone, of course Mobius has no idea what he is talking about.

There is also this shot that shows the whole gang in what I think is a recreational room of some kind in the TVA:

From the clothes they are wearing it looks like this is right after Loki recruits them and they are still in their timeline getups. I did notice that OB isn't in his usual TVA uniform so it looks like we might find out what his life on the timeline was too, I am really excited to see what all of their lives were like in the timeline and we do get a few more clues in this new mid-season trailer.

In both this trailer and previous ones there was a shot of Casey in an underground tunnel of some kind but in this trailer we got this shot just before we are shown Casey:

So actually it looks like Casey was in some kind of prison or labour camp, I am wondering if the shot of him in the underground tunnel is him attempting a prison break.

We also get alot more information about Mobius' life on the timeline and it looks like from this shot:

Where you can see kid's bikes, a basketball hoop and other toys. There's also a sheet rope hanging out the window as if a rebellious teen has snuck out. So it looks like Mobius has a family, with kids. Honestly this makes me so sad, like I kind of suspected back in season 1 when Loki said Mobius could have a family on the timeline that he probably did, but actually seeing it is going to be a gut punch, it just shows how tragic it is that these people were all stolen from their lives. They weren't just taken away from their jobs or their homes but also from their families and loved ones. I don't know there is something about a father being taken away from their kids that just gets me.

But it did get me wondering, if he has kids then its possible, even likely, that he also has a partner. We now know that TVA Mobius' love of Jet Ski's comes from his job on the timeline where he worked as a Jet Ski salesman. The other thing we know he loves is pie. So what if the reason why he loves pie so much is because his partner used to like to bake and would always make him a pie to come home from work to. I can just see him sitting around the dinner table with his family enjoying a homemade pie. And now I'm sad again.

Anyway moving on. Something else I think is going to happen is a time loop of the events of the last episode where they are going to keep trying the scenario over and over until they get it right. There are a few shots that make me think this, one is where we are back at the scene where OB has made the model and is explaining the plan only this time OB asks Loki how much he knows, there is also a shot of two Loki's in the same place, so I think time-slipping Loki is going to tell past Loki what is going to happen to Victor and the Loom and then plan-making Loki is going to remember the conversation as it happens like OB did when Loki spoke to the past version of him and that caused present OB to remember in real time, if that makes sense. Another clue that Loki is going to try and get a different outcome to ep 4's events is there is another shot where Loki is talking to OB, (can't remember if its in this trailer or one of the previous ones) where Loki asks OB what they could have done differently, as they are in the Loom Room at the time I think this might be where they attempted it again but it still failed so Loki is asking OB how it might be fixed if they do it again and then he'll go back and relay that information to past versions again.

Unfortunately for Victor I think he is going to be spaghettified a few more times. There is this shot where we see him get spaghettified from a different angle:

what's interesting about this shot though is that for some reason he isn't wearing the helmet yet and he hasn't yet picked up the device thingy, through put multiplier? Or something like that, anyway it begs the question, why are the doors already open when Victor clearly isn't ready yet?

We also see Loki talking to presumably Victor through a microphone telling him what he needs to do, which is again interesting because first off why is it Loki directing Victor and not OB? Unless Loki is using all the information from all the failed attempts he's witnessed to try and get Victor through it maybe? But also we see that Victor has trouble pushing the green button, at one point he is pounding on it trying to get it to activate. It's hard to see in this screenshot but it looks like Victor begins to spaghettify again whilst trying to push that button:

I think that he will spaghettify before he manages to push the button and that is what will lead to this scene where we see Loki on the loom's walkway:

I think the reason why he isn't wearing the suit is because Victor was already wearing it and it got spaghettified along with him. The reason why Loki isn't carrying the through put multiplier is because it is already at the end of the walkway, after Victor dies, again, I think Loki decides to sacrifice himself to get to the end of the walkway and push the button himself. Although to be clear I don't think Loki is going to die, something will come along and save him. You can see bits of black coming off of him, but I don't think that's him beginning to spaghettify and think its similar to what was happening to Mobius suit in ep 1 with the temporal radiation aging it away, I think Loki's clothes are being aged away.

Another shot that I found really interesting was a simple one but I think it holds alot of meaning to it and its these two:

It shows the word 'believe but then the word flickers and when it does you get a quick shot of the word 'lie'. So who is lying, what are they lying about? It could be in reference to the lie the TVA workers were told about their former lives on the timeline but I feel like it might be something else. The lie told to the TVA workers is something we already learnt in season 1 so I would assume this is referencing some other lie. I don't really have any guesses to be honest, it could have something to do with HWR, but I am curious to see if this does connect to the last couple of episodes at all. I would love to hear other peoples theories if anyone has any.

We also get some interesting shots of Sylkie in this trailer. I actually think we might get some repeats of their scenes too. There is this shot of them in another trailer in what appears to be the same recreational room the whole gang were in above:

I'll be honest when I first saw this clip, with the way Sylvie slowly moves closer and closer to him I did wonder if this is going to turn into a kiss scene, it's just giving me that vibe, of course that could be my shipper googles clouding my vision. But I do think this moment between them is one that we are going to see at least twice and the reason why is because of this shot in the mid-season trailer that shows this room but in its spaghetti form:

Loki is holding up his hand and to me it kind of looks like he might be counting, like he knows what is going to happen next and begins counting down to it. So I wouldn't be surprised if he gets to the end of that countdown and we find ourselves back at the beginning of that scene.

Another scene that I think might possibly be repeated is the pie room scene between them. We have this shot in this trailer where Loki is going into the room:

We can't see anyone else in the room but what makes me think it might possibly be a repeat of the sylki pie room scene is that in ep 4 when Loki says 'we are gods' it is a wide shot, yet in the trailers it is a close up shot when he says the line. It could just be a case of they decided to use a different shot for that moment, but there does also seem to be this theme of time loops and things repeating so I'm taking any scene that is from a slightly different angle or distance as a potential repeat scene.

Ok so that's everything I've got for the trailer. But I do want to make a quick prediction on what I think might happen to all our characters in the end.

I think ultimately it will end up being Loki and Sylvie working together to run the new TVA. I think they hinted at this when they had HWR make that offer for them to run it back in 1x6. I think them actually ending up running it would bring it full circle, they would end up as the benevolent rulers as HWR put it, but they would have done it their way and not HWR's way. It would also fit into the whole we are gods conversation.

I think Mobius might possibly end up going back to his timeline and getting his life back with his family. As much as I love the friendship between him and Loki I do think that would be the best ending for Mobius, but I would want it to be his choice and I don't want it to be a case of his mind is wiped. As to whether its even possible for the TVA workers to return to their timelines, I think it might be. We never got confirmation on whether the timelines they were taken from were pruned after they were taken. My theory is that once they took them instead of pruning the timelines they instead wiped the memories of everyone who knew them, as if they never existed to start with, in which case that could be undone and they could potentially go back to the moment they were taken. But who knows, I guess we'll see. Even if Mobius does go back to his timeline I could see him coming back in future projects and helping Loki out with any problems that show up. I don't think Mobius having his happy ever after on the timeline with his family necessarily has to mean the end of the Loki and Mobius' bromance.

Casey I think might end up choosing to stay with the TVA and maybe he'll get a promotion. I just don't think his life was very good from the clips from the trailers and so he might decide he is better off staying and helping build the TVA into something good.

Another person I think might end up staying is B-15. Although we know from 1x5 when Sylvie showed B-15 her life on the timeline, B-15 said she was happy I could see her choosing to sacrifice that life in order to help more people by protecting the timelines. She would become this kind of opposite of Brad who was willing to sacrifice his colleagues and values for that perfect timeline life, she'd do the opposite and sacrifice her life on the timeline because she knows she can make a difference in the TVA.

I really don't know about OB as we still don't seem to know too much about his past or his life on the timeline. So I think its anybody's guess there.

I suspect Ravonna, Brad and Miss Minutes will all meet their end come the series finale. It's possible they might get a redemption but I just don't really see it happening at this point.

But yeah those are my thoughts on the midseason trailer. I'm even more excited for the last couple of episodes and can't wait to see where its all going to go.

Okay I just saw your juvia reading Lucy’s articles and how they’re best friends and wanted to know if you had any friendship head cannons? I personally think that juvia and lucy have sleepovers sometimes and do their full on spa pampering and gossip together. Juvia totally showed lucy some conditioner that helps with keeping your hair soft because juvia is often in the water and that can dry your hair out. Other than levy juvia also knows of Lucy’s crush and is soooo supportive because she knows how hard it was for gray so juvia is more just there to listen and give advice rather than push lucy. They did a unison raid like they love each other and I’m always here for girls supporting girls! Anyways hope you’re doing well!

both of them grew up pretty isolated so they never had anyone to just gossip and talk about "girl stuff", so to speak

juvia has tried to talk about girl stuff with gajeel but when they joined fairy tail he was like. "look at all these women who im sure are friendly and actually want to talk to you about this stuff. now leave me alone"

(she still tells him all the gossip she knows tho and he won't admit it but he wants to know everything)

she's drawn to lucy because of their experience during tower of heaven but also because lucy is one of the less intimidating women in the guild

even though lucy already has a lot of friends by the time juvia joins the guild, the two of them have a unique relationship where they quickly feel comfortable confiding in each other about their childhood's because they understand what it's like to be alone

lucy feels guilty about complaining about her childhood because she knows she had it really easy, especially compared to some of their guildmates but juvia always makes it a point to never make her feel bad about it

even though lucy is really fond of juvia she gets sick of the love rival stuff immediately

she puts up with it under the assumption that juvia will get over it quickly but she doesn't

juvia finds out that lucy has a crush on natsu when she finally snaps on her one day, telling her that no, she's not her love rival for gray, she has no interest in gray, because she likes natsu

juvia's immediate reaction is. "oh. are you sure you can't do better?"

she supports lucy 100% because she loves her and she thinks natsu is great and wonderful too, but she also thinks he's a bit of an idiot and lucy deserves to know that

she teases her about it a lot but lucy vastly prefers this to the love rival stuff because she is also aware that natsu is an idiot, she doesn't need juvia to tell her that

juvia's not as avid a reader as lucy but when she does want to read, lucy is always her first stop for book recs

they both really like romance and if she finds a good one, lucy will always reccomend it to juvia

any time lucy reccomends a book with an aloof male love interest, juvia will gush over how he's just like gray and then spend the next hour talking about him

and lucy listens because even though she can be annoying about it sometimes, juvia is still her friend and it is a little endearing when she's not being super crazy jealous over him

Story time. I think Donnie would also hate most lipbalm. They're so fucking greasy on the lips and good lord, I would rather feel the pain of dry ass lips than have it plump and moisturized but feeling like I just put cooking oil on, so with the power of headcanon on my side I'm inflicting this annoyance to him too.

I bet he takes like an obscene amount of time researching on lip products before realizing that there's no guarantee that they'll help all too much because he's half-turtle, his skin is different than a human's, which eventually compels him to go on a sort of lip care pilgrimage trying out all sorts of lip balm, like a lot of them. A LOT of them. He jots down the results in a fun little spreadsheet before he manages to narrow down to one brand which happens to be from a smaller, more ethical company than the rest. Even if that brand was much more expensive than others, its not as if he didn't have money that he stole to spend on quality products, so he managed to put his cracked lip woes to rest.

Unfortunately for him however, his brothers keep stealing from him so he barely even get to use the stuff he buys.

Mikey's the biggest culprit of this of course, he's one hell of a yapster (/pos ofc I love Mikey) his lips dry out easily, and he doesn't usually carry a lip balm with him (because he forgets to/keep losing them/keep eating them) so sometimes he just swipes on those bad boys off Donnie's pouch and he doesn't even notice and well, its not as if Donnie wants to take it back anyways. Its already got his lil bro's cooties all over it.

Meanwhile, Leo mostly just steals for funsies. He doesn't even use the ones he steals from Donnie, He's got like, a whole stash of flavored lip balms because he's the face man, he doesn't want chapped lips it'll ruin his gorgeous face! Anyways he gets a whole different bunch in case he loses one (which he never does) and keep buying some until he amassed a whole ass collection (which Mikey also steals from, not that Leo minds). He doesn't need to steal Donnie's, but its REAL fun to figure out how to. He'd literally figure out a whole ass 8 step plan in his head and even learn new tricks with his portals because Donnie literally had to resort to locking his lip balms up in a multi-password protected vault, only to end up not even using the damn stolen things because like Donnie, ew his twin's cooties.

Donnie's extra offended because of that cuz like, at least use the damn thing like Mikey does you heathen he paid 15 dollars for a tube!!

Anyways, since Donnie's no pushover he schemed to get revenge on Leo and begun to steal his chapsticks too, much to Leo's (hypocrital) annoyance and amusement, so now there's an unspoken war that's happening in the Hamato household at the moment which they both refuse to back down on.

Meanwhile, Raph's at the corner just shaking his head in exhasperation. He doesn't really care much about lip balms in the first place because he didn't really use those, but Donnie got disturbed seeing him walking around with El Niño on his lips one winter and begrudgingly gave him one to use, which Raph does use but only sparingly so he doesn't run out, though it's not like he doesn't have money to buy his own cuz he does off jobs in the hidden city then and again. Also he kinda gave up trying to stop the disaster twins from fighting over lip balm because they're gonna keep doing it anyways, so he kinda just kinda tune them out when something inevitably explodes in Donnies lab and Leo comes out running holding a lil tube. Mikey gets let off the hook though, lil bro priveledges you know?

So yeah.

Even if there's a huge L in Leonardo there's still two Ls in Donatello. He's gonna be having PTSD flashbacks whenever someone mentions chapsticks near him for sure.

So 2~3 of these kitties are connected to Devil's Moon characters but probably won't show up (or at least, will only be mentioned), and two arent related to it at all.

Viviana Carmina Holst - Slyvester's wife, who Ive thought so much about but may not even show up "on camera" LOL. A calico with auburn hair she keeps in a fairly old-fashioned style, to match her more modest dress. She's thin and has big, bright green-brown eyes.

She's quite sociable, observant, easygoing and a terrible cardshark. She loves company and doesn't get it nearly as much as she'd like; they live in a modest yet well-decorated home outside St. Louis city limits. Carmina comes from a large Italian family. She was the first of her siblings to be born in America. She's always been known as Carmina to them (there were already three Vivianas in the extended family), and Vivi to her husband.

Because she and Slyvester could not have children, they adopted three nephews after the boys' parents passed (Carmina's side). The boys are now grown and the two oldest are quite successful. The youngest still lives with them to help his mother, as Carmina is disabled and Slyvester works a lot, and they've yet to find a live-in nurse that suits them.

Carmina and Slyvester grew up together in the same Italian-majority neighborhood; his family is Danish and was one of the few non Italians on the block. Carmina's parents approved of him bc he agreed to convert, they knew he wasn't a drinker, and they were relieved their sickly daughter was able to get married and have someone take care of her for the rest of her life.

Flynn's Family - I've thought a lot about them but I don't think they'll be super relevant or come up, alas. His older brother Seamus is fairly important to the business, but rarely makes himself known. He has some pretty bad physical and mental damage from the war, so tends to be anti-social, plus years of Flynn's emotional manipulation have taken their toll. Tomas was the youngest and the golden child, died in the war. Flynn couldn't stand him. Sorcha was older than Tomas but younger than Flynn, I'm still unsure what happened exactly, but she's not around her parents anymore. They didn't really dote on her like they did the boys, or Tomas.

Their mother was tall and slender, while the father was more stout and broad, and a little shorter - only Seamus had his build and coloring, the rest of the children were looked and were built like their mama. All of them had orange and black markings but the Flynn we know is the only chimera.

I keep wanting to think of more for the family - their history, and appearances and whatnot, but then I pull back because it "won't be relevant" in Devil's Moon ... well, might do it anyway bc I just like writing family dynamics and drama, lol. I already wrote a ton about Carmina so might as well.

Okay these two are 100% not UTDM related and from an Arkham Horror board game/kinda tabletop bc we rp'd it a ton. The setting is 1920s anyway, and I forced my friends to play and make lackadaisy OCs (it was my birthday damn it 😂). These two characters rotted a crater in my brain for 2 weeks straight and I still like em a ton. Sister Marguerite was mine and Father Elijah was initially my partner's but I have since stolen him haha.

Sister Marguerite, formerly Adelaide Whitaker. Wheeww... so much to say here but I'll condense it. Originally from a wealthy East Coast family, she was forcefully sent to a "wellness and manners" sort of school for "esteemed ladies" that was really just a ruse to hide her pregnancy. It wasn't a Magdalene asylum/laundry, though. She lost the child, but a handful of nuns showed her such kindness (and she'd had religious-fixated OCD for years that her family actively made worse anyway) that she converted to Catholicism and began the process of becoming a nun once she was old enough. She's happy with her current life, enough that her OCD has lessened somewhat, but ofc there are still bad days. She often fixates on physical purity, baptism and "healing water"; most of her sisters chalk her "peculiarities" up to her extreme devotion and are willing to overlook her bad, spiraling days bc shes v dear to them. She's a good-hearted woman, quiet, and doesn't scare easily. Puts others before herself again and again.

As a cat, she's white with unsettling sectorial heterochromia, big slender ears, and an odd face. Lackadaisy cats are generally pretty cute but she's meant to be more "homely". Her eyes are more unnerving than striking. This is the photo that was the first inspiration for her, though this kitty is very cute, haha. If she were human I think she'd have bright eyes and a very plain face. I've drawn her but my art is pretty oof! I need to keep practicing bc her face and headshape in particular are kinda different.

Actually considered reworking her backstory to be one of Jack's many siblings; he did have a sister who ran off, but thats kinda irrelevant in UTDM rn. If anything itd be mentioned in an epilogue.

Father Elijah - A handsome man from a good Midwestern family. They were disappointed when Elijah joined the church, feeling like he was wasting his potential. He's always felt close to God and wanted to help others, but he's also a deeply scholarly person and loves theology, even if some things he studies would be considered heretical. This doesn't necessarily mean he's open minded, especially to those he considers "irredeemable", but he's always polite, protective of his flock and usually a pretty affable guy.

Elijah certainly has some kind of mental stuff rolling around in his noggin; I don't want to call it disorder or illness, especially since he doesn't really have a name for it at the time period (like Marguerite with her OCD). In the tabletop, they came to Arkham together as allies and quickly became rather ... obsessed with each other. He's very fixated with Marguerite, believing her to be a pinnacle of what a godly person should be, and later believing she can actually speak to angels (or is one??). He wants so much of her attention, to hear her opinions and interpretations of faith. To say he puts her on a pedestal is an understatement. Calling it "romantic" interest isnt the whole picture, and too simple for... whatever the hell he's got going on. Marguerite admires him deeply but in a more "inspired" way. Platonic is also too simple for what she's feeling, but her attachment certainly isn't as deep as his.

As a cat he's an orange tabby with pretty blue eyes. Meant to be a really tall good looking dude, a contrast to Sister Margy. Maaany women in the church have admired him but he's never considered or indulged in feelings like that until Marguerite; he doesn't even consider his appearance much. Just tries to keep tidy. I also terribly drew him real quick for the tabletop. I think his ears should have kind of a cute shape and he's got extra fur around his face :3 Still not sure on what sort of tail he'd have, though.

Shoutout to tabletop!Father Elijah who dual wielded a pistol and giant crucifix on the regular, constantly threw himself into danger to save Margie and slowly became twisted by the dark powers he was trying so hard to stop 👍🏽 One of my favorite scenes was both of them jumping into a portal together, then getting separated bc we rolled poorly and they both got HP/Sanity down to 0. Elijah woke up in the hospital in extreme pain, left without fully restoring HP and ran all the way back to the church to find Marguerite. They held each other at the altar for a while and she gave him her rosary bc he lost his crucifix in the void. and they promised to never leave each other again and stayed attached at the hip in spite of the usual eldritch horrors. normal arkham horror things. I'd love to make Arkham LCG cards for them; theyve already got custom cards for the 2nd edition board game (but now my other fixations and nerdness is showing so ill stop here).

(shoutout to that poor eldritch-corrupted NPC who sister marguerite believed needed a baptism to restore him, so father elijah held the dude down while he almost drowned and margeurte prayed over him and one party member witnessed all this and told the others so EVERYONE avoided "those catholic freaks" for the whole session sdkdskfs)

Part of me kinda gave up on trying to resist the whole ai scraping thing a good while ago because it's only going to get worse unless strict enough laws are set against it widely enough. While i advocate for things like glaze and nightshade, i also feel like well, they'll just train it on those as well and eventually learn how to "solve" it. and it'll be a fight between who has the upper hand. I wont pretend i understand the intricacies of it all but that's what the overall feeling is. defeated and pointless. I will still opt out and watermark my shit but at the same time I think i'm just past the point of really fighting back.

I make art in order to stay sane and have a reason to live because its one of the very few things that give me the sense of joy and purpose, so i'll keep making it and sharing it anyway. I've had my art stolen before in the more straightforward way of just taking out my signature and claiming to have created it, and even in those cases the process of proving that it's originally made by you is exhausting and infuriating enough that I tend to just leave it at "well you know you've stolen this from me so i hope you'll feel the sting of that lie forever somewhere in your mind" -shrug- I'm mad but I'm also becoming too tired to be able to care.

AITA for stealing a bone? Okay, preface: I'm sending this before I do it, but I am going to do this no matter what. I just want to know if I'm an asshole or not.

For context, I, 20sm, have a... condition. I'm very sensitive to certain things, including a magical object my brother owns. My mentor/father figure, 400sm, also has this condition, so as a rule of thumb, things that hurt him hurt me. I've only recently developed it, so I'm figuring it out as I go.

For some more context, recently my brother (20sm), our friend (30s?40s?m), and I recently met a woman. She knew a lot of things she shouldn't have, and tried to get the magical object from my brother in exchange for information we wanted. Now, that object repels and hurts people with my condition, so he keeps it far away from me when he uses it.

However, we've been sent to recover some bones, which are an object with similar abilities, but far more powerful. They're apparently meant to keep my mentor out of a town (which... he's not as bad as people make him out to be. He can be violent, sure, but our condition is hard to live with and he sees something in me that nobody else has, so he's shown me only kindness.). Which, by extension, probably means they'll just outright kill me, because despite the advantages of our condition, I'm very weak- I've almost died several times, and have lasting wounds, so I think I've given my brother a complex because it's only happened when he's away from me. Our home is in that town! It's the only real home I've ever had. I don't want to leave.

The thing is, the bones have to be in a very specific place to work. I have a hypothesis that if I take one of the bones before they're placed there, I can prevent it from working, or at least make it work less, so I can keep living there. Plus, there's something cool coming up soon, and I really want to see if my Mentor will come, because he hasn't talked to me in a while and I miss him. My friends don't like him, but that's just because they got off on the wrong foot, and also because he was mean to my brother but my brother is a monster hunter so I'm sure he was just scared. Because our condition makes us "monstrous". But he knows now that my brother wouldn't hurt a fly! He's really nice.

It's not the first time I've stolen. I got my friend kicked out for stealing a book for me (which I submitted here before), I stole a book when I ran away, and as my mentor asked, I stole my brother's journal. (It's okay, he got a new one, my mentor probably just wants to copy it down anyways!) But these bones seem like a huge deal, and I think people might get mad at me if they find out. But I'm not gonna keep it!! The lady we met said that she was interested in artifacts like the one my brother has, so I'm gonna bring it to her in exchange for information. Like, where my friend is, or if I have a family, or stuff like that. It won't be a huge bone! Like, a rib, or some vertebrae, or a tibia. Just enough to interest her and hopefully keep me safe.

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Sweets for the Sweet is pure donut eating fluff so probably that. Or But Like A Refugee since someone lives when they would have died in canon.

Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? I keep mixing Lovecraft into things, so idk if that counts. I keep pondering a GO/Trigun crossover but IDK. One crossover I started 15 years ago, but never finished (I still have it though!) was Kenren (Saiyuki Gaiden)/Kakashi (Naruto) where Kenren was ex military and Kakashi was an assassin whose inner dialogue comes in the form of his dead fellow assassin-former-lover's voice (that'd be Iruka XD). It is 100% the wackiest thing I ever thought up and I honestly would LOVE to finish it.

Have you ever had a fic stolen? I don't think so.

Have you ever had a fic translated? No.

Have you ever cowritten a fic before? No but I'd give it a try. Back in the day I did do some writer-artist collabs.

What's your all-time favourite ship? I could not possibly choose one. <- yeah what Jenn said. But I'm gonna go off anyway LOL I cannot separate Kenren/Tenpou, Aziraphale/Crowley and Vash/Wolfwood, they all fell into my lap around the same time in the early 2000s and they all changed my brain chemistry. Even if I never consume a piece of media about them again, they'll live in my head, rent free, for all time. Modern day shout outs, though, to: Eivor/Vili (got me back into writing) Ubba/Vili (kept me writing) and Nanami/Gojo (currently destroying me one molecule at a time).

What's a WIP you'd like to finish but doubt you ever will? As I said, that crossover up there, that would be awesome but it's probably a pipe dream. I do not want to mention any current WIP of the last couple years because I don't want to jinx anything.

What are your writing strengths? I think I write dialogue and banter well, I get a lot of complements on that and I tend to agree. I think I also nail it on longing and loss just from rl experience lol

What are your writing weaknesses? Not being able to finish but a fraction of what I start. And also sometimes I am just not able to convey things how I really wanted them to be.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I know some people get uppity about sprinkling in foreign language in fic dialogue, but, like, there's good ways and bad ways to do it, and sometimes the original language word has no good equivalent in other languages.

Favourite fic you've ever written? Hmmm, well, for better or worse Water of Life is my baby and I love it. lol I have some WIPS though, that I am dying to finish and they might eclipse that love.

Yeah, of course I'll talk with you about it. I'm sorry to hear you're recently diagnosed. I'd say it gets better, but I'd be lying. What does change is that you get tougher, more resilient. If you're lucky, you have people around you who understand and support you well. The seizures never stop being terrifying.

It's an awful disease and one that is extremely misunderstood. Isolating is the right word, for sure. I was diagnosed at 16, so I know how hard it can be to have it as a teenager/young person as well. It feels like it's stealing from you. It is. Don't let anyone tell you any different. Your feelings are justified.

As far as how I cope? Poorly, for a long time, but recently things have been looking up. I was seizure-free for about five years before a recent set of breakthrough seizures (I crashed my car too, lol what a time), so I'm relearning how to deal with the fear and paranoia.

Logistically, I've done a few things:

I was able to get my job to let me work from home 3/5 days of the week.

I sleep. A lot. I still hang out with people and I have a lot of friends, but I had to accept there are things I can't do.

I spend a lot of time in quiet. Overstimulation doesn't help. I found this out the long way - took me forever to realize shutting up one or a few of my senses cut down the brain activity (I'm dumb).

I don't drink. I used to drink - probably too much. Substance abuse and epilepsy don't mix. That wasn't the reason for my breakthroughs, but I do have a little sobriety app. Kinda fun, honestly.

I talk to my friends about it.

That last point is something that I'd never done before this year. It's hard, of course, but I think it's helped that my friends now know I'm having crises of sanity, faith, philosophy - whatever - every day of my goddamn life. It's impossible to live with this disease and not think about what's real, what's not, if I'm losing time, what exactly is a soul...you understand.

Also, seizures are impossible to describe, but I try. That helps as well. Horrifies my friends, but they've said it's ok to talk about.

Every seizure I've had (barring these last ones, or I'd have killed myself) has stolen my personhood from me. I'd wake up as a different person, and then I'd just...live in a stranger's apartment, wear a stranger's clothes, wake up in a stranger's bed. After about a week, the feeling starts to fade but nothing ever goes back to that first reality. That disorientation is, for me, one of the worst parts of epilepsy. It's fucking scary. And if you go through that, I am so, so sorry.

If you want to talk about this more, let me know. I'm much less serious than I seem, and I write like this because I'm overeducated after being scared shitless by my brain. So.

Anyway, feel free to publish this and I hope you feel better soon.

Also, tell your tattoo artist what happened - they'll thank you for not coming in, and they also need to know you're not a flake. Don't want to make them responsible for an unconscious body when they don't have to be! :)

thank you for talking to me more about this. you worded a lot of this really well and its reassuring to know its normal to feel that way that i do about it all. my family thinks im exaggerating it so sometimes i question if im blowing things out of proportion.

anyway, thats terrible that you crashed your car. thats such a huge fear of mine and i cant imagine going through that, im so sorry. its so unfortunate that you have to miss out on things, but im glad you figured out what works for you to keep you in better shape. im gonna try and be mindful about the things you mentioned and see if they make a difference for me, thank you

i dont have much of a support system, most of my friends stopped talking to me after college and i find it hard to meet new people where i live. its significantly harder to cope with shit like this when youre on your own. im sure you get it. and i totally understand what you mean by losing your sense of self. it feels like everything is foggy, all the time but even worse on days i have seizures. it almost makes me mad cause its not fair that after everything else that comes with it, i have to have a diluted watered down personality too.

Who is the little spoon? In this cruel world, it is snuggle or be snuggled. Though I wouldn't say "spooning" is the right term for their situation so much as "Luna makes herself comfortable, and there they stay". Like so.

Who plays pranks on the other? I wouldn't say they play a lot of pranks, so much as Nyx is just a very mischievous person, and brings out Luna's inner gremlin.

Who is the one who listens to pop music? To be honest, I think Luna has had a lot of fun with the radios in their various stolen vehicles. Some people would search for gil or weapons - Luna pries through their music collection.

Who brings the other a random cup of joe? Nyx makes the food and Luna makes the drinks. It's a balanced partnership. She likes to try different teas that they find.

Who picks the cheesy movies for date night? I could see them channel-surfing and landing on whatever seems the least boring, since goodness knows they're going to chat through the whole thing anyway. Between them, these two do Not have the focus for an entire movie.

Who is more likely to feed the other in public? Once while they were on the road, they had to go undercover as a couple for Reasons. Nyx played it up a great deal, just because it's fun to watch Luna squirm.

Who gives the other random little compliments? Nyx probably gives more by sheer volume, but Luna is the most direct. Once she gets over her hangups, ofc.

Who is always stealing food from the other’s plate? Nyx does it then dares her to take it back so she will come closer and he can steal a kiss. It's very smooth and all, but after a while, it might just be easier if they share a plate.

Who is more likely to let the other borrow their car? Nyx drives, period. Unless they need to make a quick getaway, because Luna drives like the laws of physics don't apply to her.

Who makes the list before they go grocery shopping? Nyx makes the list, partly because he knows better what they'll need, and partly because he knows Luna will inevitably get distracted looking at interesting things she's found. ("Nyx, look! It's candy but it's shaped like little chocobos! Isn't that novel?") (He always leaves room in the budget for her because she's too cute to say no to.)

Who makes sure the other takes their meds when sick? Oh, they're both stubborn when they're sick, but at least Luna will allow her injuries to be tended before charging back into battle. They could fund their entire journey if Luna had a gil for every time Nyx pretended to be fine, it's just a scratch Luna, don't worry about it - and she had to calmly explain that one does not build an immunity to gunfire or stab wounds.

Who watches sports and has to teach the other the rules? Luna has no idea what's going on, no matter how many times Nyx explains it, but she's glad he seems so excited. Conversely, she's dragged him along to a few live Tenebraean sporting events, but they're all hopelessly complex and look more like performances than athletics anyway.

Who pulls the other to their feet for a dance in the living room? They're both the type to do this. Once, Nyx pretended he didn't know how to dance just so Luna would "teach" him and he'd get to hold her and also mess with her at the same time, the sly dog.

Who has to keep reminding the other to hurry or they’ll be late? I wouldn't say either of them are inclined to be regularly tardy. But if they don't want to be there, they will complain to each other the entire event and talk so much shit.

Who is the one most likely to get a tattoo with the other’s name? Ok this is actually an interesting one - because of royal protocol and public image and whatnot, I don't see Luna as the type to get inked in any way, shape or form usually. However, those small tattoos are an important part of Galahdian culture, presumably marking something about the person or their life events. So I could imagine her getting something as part of a major event in their lives as per tradition, as a way of embracing his culture. Nyx, obviously, has no qualms with cultural tattoos, and there's probably something traditional for commitment, so. It's all very sweet, they're doing their best trying to bring their worlds together.

With the beach so crowded and the ocean so close, Elliott's suggestion to head back to their umbrella goes unheard over the crashing spray as his best friend runs a little closer to the waves, soaked up to their thighs in seawater. The Pacific is cold even in the summer, and by all rights they should probably be shivering by now.

He calls their name again, getting a little closer, and this time they turn to look at him, their response stolen by the wind. They come back over, eyes bright, and stop just a bit in front of him.

Elliott had kept further away from the water than them. He hadn't been sure, when they'd invited him, if he'd like it here. The ocean featured prominently in his nightmares when he still had them, all-encompassing and black and cold and choking, and although they couldn't have known when they asked, he'd hesitated on the answer. The moment they started to take the idea back, though, expression falling, he'd caved instantly.

And it's turned out alright, anyway. It's bright here, and the sun is warm, and he can clearly see the sand below him and the coastline where the rocks are further forward than the beach. The water ends. They're here.

They head back to the umbrella together, hand-in-hand. He wonders if they look like a couple.

"We've been here for a while," they tell him in a stern voice once they get back, sitting down and rummaging through their overlarge beach bag for the sunscreen, which they produce and immediately begin to squeeze out onto their palm. "It's been long enough. You have to reapply."

"You're using it, sunshine," he says, a laugh in his voice to cover for how difficult it suddenly is to keep his eyes in polite territory. He sits next to them under the shade and steadfastly doesn't look at the way their sunblock-coated fingers are pressing gently into the skin of their thigh. He definitely doesn't think even once about the indents his own fingers might leave behind, there. He doesn't look.

They catch him looking, and Elliott thinks, for an impossible second, that he stops breathing. It's probably silly of him to be so worried about it. They have to know. It's been long enough. He's caught them looking before. But there's something about them, something about what they're doing together, that makes him want to stretch it longer, let them keep balancing on that uncertain edge. He knows, with the clarity of someone who would rather not, that he does this because of the hypothetical day when he leaves it all in front of them, the dreams and the drowning and the seemingly endless wells of care, and they leave it behind.

He doesn't know that they'll do that. He doesn't even really think that they will. He’s sure they love him, even if he isn't sure what form that love will take, and they wouldn't just abandon him. (Like he did.) But he doesn't know what they will do.

So he just meets their gaze, and lets the corner of his mouth curve up when they smile small and secretive at him, and cherishes that feeling for what it is right now. When they hand him the sunscreen with a repeated instruction, he lets their fingers brush, and when they relocate to the towel outside their little shelter to sunbathe, he stares for so long, focused on the soft way they feel falling asleep against his magic from close enough to hold, that he forgets entirely to reapply and burns so bad his skin peels.

Anon, thank you soooo much for asking this. As you probably know since you've followed me for so long, I love New Years, and I love keeping track of the media I consume, and I love talking about it!!!! This is so long. You're in for a trip.

Below the cut are my recs for music, podcasts, books, fic (all hockey), TV shows, and games.

MUSIC

Maren Morris (particularly the GIRL album) A lot of my dedicated listening time was actually during the summer, when I was working feverishly on a Nico/TK fic that currently has a draft with like 30k words but I got stuck and have taken a break from it lmao. If you care to understand more about the fic, I keep a tag. Anyway, I was looking for something upbeat/slightly country (I don't really enjoy country) for the vibes, and really liked her stuff. Some of my faves include: Nervous, The Feels, Make Out With Me, Shade. Tate McRae My girlfriend is a loooongtime fan of her, and I love a good pop album. Overall I really enjoy Think Later, with my faves being Greedy, Think Later, and Plastic Palm Trees. Mt Joy They are actually my fave band since Catfish ghosted me! I am truly, to the core, a Rearrange Us girlie (that album is pure art), but Orange Blood comes close and takes me back to summertime every time I listen. Faves from it include Orange Blood, Roly Poly, Johnson Song, Lemon Tree, Don't It Feel Good, and Bathroom Light (one of my top songs of all time).

PODCASTS

You Can't Do That A hockey podcast (they are Caps fans but cover all of the NHL) that's so fucking hilarious and entertaining. I listen to it religiously. Keeper Chat This one I found randomly through Spotify recommendations!! Flora & Fauna are two ex-zookeepers and each episode discuss an animal. I love learning little trivia bits about animals, but honestly their digressions are the best part. They are fucking hilarious and do not take their job of imparting knowledge on their listeners seriously. And it's incredible. The Tiny Meat Gang Podcast I have kind of always been a Cody & Noel fan, but only started listening to their podcast this year as background noise at work. They are very funny and I like that they're not overly loud/screaming because that's obnoxious when I'm trying to work. Also I agree with a lot of their pop culture takes, so it's fun to see what they'll discuss. Sold a Story More of a docuseries type podcast, it has 10ish parts and is investigative journalism into how schools started adopting a curriculum that is scientifically proven NOT to be the correct way to teach kids to read?!?! I was mind blown?? I was HOOKED and wish everyone in the world would listen.

BOOKS

Stolen Focus by Johann Hari I read this book and then immediately quit every social media (just about). It made me realize my attention was precious (especially with ADHD) and made me want to be more intentional with it. The State of Affairs by Esther Perel My girlfriend informed me that people on tiktok really enjoy arguing about Esther Perel and this book that they've interpreted as her manifesto that monogamy isn't achievable. Which is not really what's going on in the book, lmao. It's a fantastic deep dive into infidelity (which impacts sooo many people!!) and how our societal ideas of a "fairytale" type partner that is our one and only everything is so limiting and sets us up for failure. Spare by Prince Harry I listened to this on audiobook and just enjoyed the experience of hearing what a royal life is like, lmao. It was so fascinating and I have a lot of respect for him and Meghan. A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket I've been working my way through the box set I bought last year, but lately I've been in a reading slump and according to the internet you should reread some of your favorites. I always loved that this series didn't handle hard things with kid gloves when I was younger. It's like the author treats children with enough dignity to trust they can handle the harsh realities of the world.

FICS (all hockey, if you're not interested skip to the next section haha)

I have a horrible habit of using ao3 on my phone, downloading fics and sending them to my kindle, and then it's hard for me to remember what I've read/get back to them once I'm off my kindle. I keep all of my recs in my bookmarks on my ao3 (which I'm trying to update currently!), but I'll throw in some faves: from this day forward series by greenteam (Jack Hughes/Nico Hischier/Jonas Siegenthaler) A modern royalty au where Jack and Nico essentially have an arranged marriage. Both parts are A+++, but anyone who knows me knows I looove some polyamory and exploration into the dynamics of it, and the second part hits that nail on the head. Featuring trying a dynamic out and getting it wrong (!!!!!) and needing to make adjustments. Chef's kiss. California, dude. So sick. by dilangley (Trevor Zegras/Jamie Drysdale) I downloaded this with the intention to binge it all in one night, and then got so lost in the universe I took much longer with it. Fun summery vibes, full of the mundane realism I love and have been ranting about recently (this is the fic where Trevor picks at Jamie's peeling sunburn, ugh!!!!!) amateur hour at herbie's travel center. june. by Matriaya (Travis Konecny/Nolan Patrick) This is a little 5k thing about making amateur porn spur of the moment, but really I have loooved digging into Matriaya's work, which includes a lot of realism in smut, which is my absolute faaaavorite!!!!! Grabbing the link for this post I also see they've published a lot of work recently that I need to download asap. heaven won't be the same by lilcrickee (Nico Hischier/Jack Hughes) I was trying to keep this list down to three, and with different pairings, but UGH I can't help but mention this one. A Bridgerton au that was SO FUN to read and the tenderness made me sob. I've already read every Travis Konecny/Lawson Crouse fic lilcrickee has graciously provided this earth, and I love their work immensely.

TV SHOWS

Queen Charlotte I've loved everything in the Bridgerton universe so far, and this spin-off might be my favorite season so far! Jury Duty Sooo funny. Although it's kind of trippy that Ronald was living in a scripted world. Lost I'm not gonna talk about it anymore, I'll go insane. I was just rewatching season 2 last night.

GAMES

Cozy Grove I've mentioned Cozy Grove a few times on here, but I love it sooo much. Def one of my favorite games I played this year!! I love that the game doesn't care if you skip a day (I've skipped a few weeks right now lmao, and I can't wait to jump back in!). Like Animal Crossing but with a more solid plot. Planet Zoo I'm a Zoo Tycoon kid, so I had to try this out! It's very hard to learn, you definitely have to start with campaign mode. I've always been a "sandbox" type person, but I actually loved the challenges in campaign mode that I stuck with it even after I had enough of a grasp on it to start my own zoo from scratch. It's extremely engrossing, you'll log on and waste three hours accomplishing objectives and fussing with animals that are very picky. Dorfromantik Easy to pick up and learn and SO ADDICTING. I love playing it and listening to an audiobook or podcast. Plus it's sooo beautiful. I wish it was available as a mobile game, but hopefully someday! No plot, it's a puzzle/casual type game. Mini Motorways I have Apple Arcade for Cozy Grove and somehow ended up downloading this. It is ADDICTING and makes me incredibly ANGRY!!! The game gives you limited pieces of pavement and plops buildings down wherever, and it's your job to manage traffic. I truly believe the AI is against me because I'll be doing SO GOOD and they'll put a new building SO FAR AWAY in the WORST SPOT. UGH.

How they first met

Hannah x Chrystal ••••••••••••••••••••••••• Hannah POV: I'm currently on my way to school. I had to make a volcano for geology class and I'm trying to get it to class without incident, but knowing my luck, I'll drop it just outside the door to the classroom. I'm just hoping I can get it there somewhat intact. It's so windy, I wish I didn't live so close to the school so I didn't have to walk her, maybe my project would have an easier time if it were on a bus.

××× Chrystal Pov: I'm waiting at my bus stop, it's windy as all hell out here, I'm surprised there's even still power given how usually you can blow on the power lines and they'll go out! Ahaha! Ah…wait..I'm laughing at my own joke…in my head…so..not..weird…. Oh, there's my bus!

Once I get on the bus I walk as quickly as possible to the back so I don't have to sit near any of the middle schoolers once they get on. Last time I had to sit near them I had a battery thrown at my neck!

I get to the back of the bus and sit down, setting my bag on the floor beside me as there isn't much room in the back two seats. I keep a hold of the strap on my bag though, I wouldn't want it to get stolen or for it to just go flying when we go over a rough bump.

I heard the geology class has to bring in their volcano projects today, I wonder how getting them to school is going ahahha! I'm laughing in my head again…oh for the love of…!At School

Hannah POV: I somehow managed to get to school without my project blowing away or getting too damaged, now just to make it through these halls.

As I walk in the school I start trying to make my way through the crowds of people without bumping into anyone or damaging my project that I worked so hard on.

I managed to make it to the stairs on the farthest side of the school, those are the safest because most people can't be bothered to go that far unless they actually have a class at the end of the hall.

I start trying to make my way up the stairs while still holding tightly onto my project when I trip on a lose tile on the stairs and start to fall. I lose my grip on my volcano, in turn trying to save myself from getting hurt.

I catch myself and I wait for the thud of my project hitting the floor, but it doesn't come.

I see a girl dresses in pink holding it and giving me a worried look.

"Are you okay, dear?" She askes me.

All I can do in response is blush and nod, trying to say 'thank you' but only stuttering out nonsense.

She giggles and hands me back my project with a little peace of paper on it.

She says, "call me, cutie!" Holding her hand up to her ear and making a phone signal with her hand while quickly walking away. I think I saw her blushing a bit too.

Shake myself out of it and continue on my way to class. I make it a few minutes before the bell so I set down my project and look at the piece of paper that girl gave me.

The paper says, " *** - *** - **** Call Me! -Chrystal <3" so her name is Chrystal? Hm..she has beautiful handwriting, she dotted her exclamation mark with a heart, I wonder if she always writes like that or if she just does that for this kind of thing?

Chrystal POV: The bus finally got to school and I'm finally free from every crazy middle school student on this bus! A kid somehow managed to get a box of chocolates stuck to the roof of the bus! How does someone even manage that? Like, the whole box! Not just the chocolates!

Anyway, I got off the bus and quickly walked into the school. I have a free class first period so I plan to just do laps around the inside of the school.

I picked a direction and just started walking. I saw a girl with long pink hair in front of me, she looks beautiful, even if I can only see her from behind…heh…maybe it's the best view? No! No! I need to get a grip on myself, I'm at school, this is not the place for thinking of that kind of thing!

Actually…I could give her my number…ooh! That's a good idea! Good job, Chrystal! Why thank you Chrystal! Oh no…I'm talking to myself in my head again…ugh…

I wrote my number down on a piece of scrap paper I had in my bag, I dotted the exclamation mark with a heart just for her! I hope she thinks I'm pretty enough to give me a call!

As I get to the stairs and start walking up them I see her again, right in front of me.

She's holding a large volcano project and seems stressed. I don't blame her, trying to get that thing to class on a normal day would be hard, but on a day with weather like this? Goodness, you'd be lucky to even have a piece of it as evidence that you tried!

I see her trip over a loose floor tile and I see her start to catch herself while letting go of the project. I figure she can catch herself just fine so I attempt to catch her project.

I successfully caught it! Hell yeah! This is the perfect time to give her my number too!

As she stands back up I look at her disheveled and stress look and ask, "are you okay, dear?"

She responds by blushing very noticeably and trying to speak but ultimately just giving up and nodding at me while holding her hands out for her project.

I hand her project back to her with the piece of paper with my phone number on it. She gives me a smile then sees the paper and makes a confused face. I take this opertuinty to put the idea of me in her mind for the rest of the day.

"Call me, cutie!" I made a phone hand gesture at her and begin to walk up the stairs again and continue about my day.

I hear her make a flustered sound before I'm out of earshot.

I hope to get a call from that beautiful girl soon. ••••••••••••••••••• Aaron x Arson ••••••••••••••••••• Arson POV: I was called to the office earlier today, they told me I need another class or I won't be able to graduate with the rest of my grade and they'll make me do another year. So I decided to take a class that I remember being easy when I was in middle school. Boy howdy was I wrong!

I picked gym class! That class used to be so fun, but now it just feels like utter hell! I have to change clothes for this class which is a pain in the ass with some of my more elaborate outfits and then I usually make a mess of my makeup and then I'm sweaty and gross for the rest of the day! I should have just taken an extra math class! How could I be so stupid!

××× Aaron POV: I joined gym class at the start of the year because I needed a gym credit. Most people get it in their first year, but I wanted to take psychology instead so now I'm doing gym with a bunch of first years. The only other person in here who isn't a first year is this person named ..uh..Arson? I think? I remember they used to go by a different name, but they seem to have changed it. I like their new name, it sounds cool and definitely matches with their firey personality!

I find gym class easy because I go to the gym often in my free time, so it's just simplified versions of what I normally do. Arson seems to find it difficult though. But I know they won't like it if I try to help. They're well capable of doing things on their own, but sometimes in their attempts to not look like they need help they push themself to hard and get hurt or sick.

I can see them trying to do pushups right now, they look like they're about to pass out. I sure hope they don't, they teacher isn't here and I don't think anyone in this class knows how to deal with an unconscious person.

××× Arson POV: I may hate this class, but I'm stuck in it, so I feel the need to prove I'm good at it, even if it's something I'm not fond of. I know I'm only hurting myself by overdoing it like this, but at least I can pretend I look cool. The first years seem to think I look cool, the only people who don't are the teacher and this guy name Aaron. He always looks worried, it's like he knows I'm pushing myself past what's reasonable.

I've been doing push ups for the past few minutes, I feel like I'm about to pass out but I can't give up now, I need to be the best…i can't…I can't…fuck…

As my eyes start to close and I can feel myself giving out i mutter out, "Aaron…" Because I know he's watching, he's always keeping an eye on me in class so I don't get hurt, I hope he heard me…

××× Aaron POV: I hear someone weakly mutter my name then I hear a thud. I look over, it's Arson, they've passed out!

I quickly run over and yell at one of the first years to go get a teacher.

When I get to Arson I lay them on their back and start putting mats under their legs so the blood gets back to their head. I think tahts what it does at least? I've been told this is what I'm supposed to do.

I then have one of the first years go and grab my water bottle. It's full of cold water and it's metal so if I hold it on Arson's forehead it should cool them down a bit.

Once they first year hands me my water bottle I take my shirt off and wrap it around the water bottle so it's not too cold and I gently hold it to Arson's head.

They soon start to wake up and try to sit up, but I gently push them back down, telling them they passed out and that they need to lay down for a bit.

They give me a tired and slightly annoyed look, but they sigh and agree to stay laying on the floor for a while longer, at least until a teacher comes to help.

××× Arson POV: I slowly start to wake up, I feel really dizzy and I have a nasty headache. I feel that my legs are being held up by something and there's something soft and cold on my forehead.

I open my eyes to see Aaron leaning over me, giving me a worried look. I give him a confused look in response as I see him holding something to my forehead.

He tells me that I passed out and that I need to lay down a bit longer. I don't want to be seen as weak though so I try to get up only for him to gently push me back down and tell me to rest so I can feel better and continue to be the best.

I'm annoyed but I concede and lay back down without a fight. ••••••••••••••••••••• Jamie x Meihui ••••••••••••••••••••• Jamie POV: We got a new student in our class today, her name is Meihui Liu, she's from Taiwan. Apparently she moved here a month ago, but is just starting school now. She's gorgeous, she's got shoulder length pink and brown hair and she has it up in two pigtail, it's very cute, and she's wearing traditional clothes, which I think is an interesting choice, but it suits her, at least from what I've seen of her.

××× Meihui POV: I walked into the classroom, I immediately felt overdressed, everyone here is just wearing some variation of pants and a sweater, with a few hats being thrown in here and there. How strange, all the schools I used to go to had uniforms, but, what was I expecting? I'm in Canada now, of course it's going to be different.

The teacher asked me to introduce myself almost right after I got in the door. I told the class my name and some people giggled, they probably aren't used to hearing names that aren't western, so though it was rude, I won't hold it against them, it's high school, they still have time to learn.

I noticed a person sitting near the window, he has long green hair and dark skin with striking blue eyes, she's so handsome, and the seat beside him is empty! I will go sit with this beautiful specimen of a man!

I walk over and sit in the seat beside them, his slouched posture changes to be a little more upright which I find funny. She must be trying to be polite, but he shouldn't make himself uncomfortable just because someone new is sitting with them.

"Did you not want me to sit with you? I noticed your posture changed when I sat down. It's okay if you don't want me to. I won't move now because class has already started, but I won't sit with you in the future if it makes you uncomfortable." I whisper calmly to the girl.

He blushes a little and shakes his head before whispering back, "no, I don't have a problem with you, you're just so beautiful, I don't know why you're sitting with me."

I giggle, "you're so cute, you already know my name, provided you were paying attention when I introduced myself, so why don't you tell me your name?"

He gets even more flustered, "o-oh! My name is Jamie!" He barely stutters the words out.

I respond, "nice to meet you Jamie, I hope we become good friends." Before turning back to the teacher and listening to her lesson.

××× Jamie POV: Meihui sat down beside me, oh my gosh, she's sitting beside me, what do I do? Ahh, I look like a bum sitting slouched over like this! I should sit ups straight! Yeah, maybe she'll think I'm well put together if I sit up straight!

I sat up straight, hoping it'd make me look better, but I could tell it was just making me look stressed more than anything. It became really obvious when Meihui asked if I'm okay and told me to tell her if she's bothering me.

I immediately felt bad that I made her feel like she upset me or that her presence is unwanted, so I told her that it's okay, though I barely got the words out I also managed to compliment her appearance which she seemed to like.

She then asked me my name, so I told her my name and she seemed to like it, telling me she hopes we become good friends. I think that was an invitation to talk to her outside of class because she very quickly returned to listening to the teacher rather than continuing conversing with me.

She's so beautiful, looking at her from here, her side profile, her voice, her personality.. everything thusfar has been perfect, I hope she truely is this amazing person and not just putting on an act. •••••••••••••••• Raven x Tae •••••••••••••••• Raven POV: I work in a coffee shop, so I see many different people, some kind, some rude, some attractive some…less attractive, I see everyone and anyone in here, including this beautiful boy. He's been here a few times before but the most we've talked is just when they're ordering a drink or a small cake. I actually can remember their exact cake order, a small vanilla and macha cake square with strawberry whipped cream and mochi on the side. Truely a delicious treat, everytime he orders it I want to eat it.

Right now he's the only person here and I really want to try to have an actual conversation with them, but they're so handsome, I don't know if I can do it! What if I do something wrong? Oh, I'd just die!

××× Tae POV: I noticed the barista staring at me a few minutes ago, I can tell she wants to talk to me, but she doesn't have the confidence to do it. I'd go talk to her but I think this is something she needs to do for her own benefit.

She's beautiful, and she's been very kind anytime I've had her take my order, I know that's her job, but not everyone memorizes your favorite treat by heart. So the point is, I wouldn't mind talking to her more, but I'm not starting this conversation as she seems to be the one with the infatuation here.

××× Raven POV: I finally pull myself together and walk over to them and sit down in the seat across from them. They give me a questioning look but do do anything to shoo me off so I continue as I was.

"H-hey, um, I'm the barista you usually go to for your cake order…um… we're the only people in here so I was wondering if you'd be interested in talking? I'm Raven, by the way…y'know…as if the name tag wasn't obvious enough…." I spoke awkardly

It got a bit awkward around the end there but I think I did well, and he seems to be reacting positively too! He gave me a small smile and responded, "yes I know your name and I know you know mine, Tae, I'd love to chat, what are your interests and hobbies?" •••••••••••••••••••• Blanch x Nolan •••••••••••••••••••• Nolan POV: I just saw the prettiest person ever, they just walked past me, I'm gonna take to them and it's gonna be great, I've totally go this!

I take a deep breath and walk up to them.

"Hey! I'm Nolan! You're really handsome, wanna be friends?" I ask enthusiastically.

They stutter in response, being confused as to who I am and what I'm doing, that's a pretty valid response but eventually he gets out, "um, yeah, sure? I'm Blanch! You're very handsome yourself! Aha!" He sounds confused but confident, I like it! This friendship is gonna be awesome!

××× Blanch POV: I hear someone walking behind me before I'm tapped on the shoulder. It's a short boy, he's very attractive, and very enthusiastic though he seems nervous.

He's asking me to be his friend? Wow that's ballsy for someone who looks like their about to cry because of the social interaction.

I'm a bit confused but I agree to be his friend anyway.

This will definitely be an interesting friendship! •••••••••••••••••••

And i agree it would be lovely to have stede and ed to have it officiated by Olu with wee John flower girl

BUT

I believe that the first who will actually seal the deal will be Lucius and Black Pete

Just. Think about it. Lucius in distress after the whole situation with Ed. Pete marooned on the island with the others.

Both very much in love with the other

Of course as soon as they'll reunited they'll want to tie the notch, as to speak

"but what about the Edward situation" it's already dealt with they're all back on the revenge and things between Ed and Stede are tense but that irrelevant

They have a wedding to prepare

Also Edward is just creeping in the shadows because the crew is quite divided about him like he's been a bitch but also it was kinda their captain fault so who's to say who did really the wrong here

"i am to say" says Lucius "I'm the one he tried to murder"

"now now, murder is such an harsh word.. why don't you focus on what you want for cake and you let me handle Edward?"

So yeah Stede is vouching for him and nobody really care what Izzy is thinking

Hence matelotage will be!

Takes them really few days to set everything up. The lights, the food, the drinks, mostly

By the actual day to come they even manage to involve Edward in part of the planning, given his ability with special effects and so

And it's fine for him, until he has to interact with Stede

Then he gets all impatient and nervous and always seems on the verge of throwing himself out in the sea

It would be adorable if the whole marooning and lucius-icide didn't happen

But it did so it's just weird

Not that it matters. Every time Stede tried to interact with him it's like watching a baby bird learning how to fly

Most of the time his face in on the floor covered in dirt

Not literally. Except for once, but then it was mostly Frenchie's fault anyway

Finally the actual day of the wedding arrives

Black Pete and Lucius were even wearing good clothes, stolen from a merchant vessel just the day before

The sun was going to dip into the ocean when Stede started the ceremony

Which wasn't long at all. There's just so many words you can say about committing oneself to another person in their line of living before getting repetitive

Besides, nobody was truly listening to him

Well. Not true. Someone was. A bit in the back, in the shadows, but eyes shiny and piercing as always

Edward was listening to every single word Stede uttered and hated himself for it

Because no matter how hurt he felt, he never managed to cut Stede out of his brain entirely

And now he was talking about how nice is to be free to let someone sees you as you are, love you as you are and be accepted in all your mistakes

In all your wrongdoings

In all your flaws

And he was looking at him and how dare he? Really? How dare he come back and then and then--

Well. The newlyweds are kissing now. The ceremony was over

Thank god he can go back to drink and maybe drown Stede voice

He was up the main mast conducting exactly this mission when night fell completely, Lucius and Pete were left on land to save everyone else from assisting to the consumption of their union and most of the crew was either drunk or asleep. Maybe both. Probably both.

The only sounds were the calm washing of the waves and Buttons moon ovation to the moon

And of course. Steps that were climbing the exact mast he was sitting on

Edward doesn't need to open his eyes to know who it was, but he did it anyway

Stede, with the scruff getting longer and his clothes way simpler that what he used to know him for, sat beside him and wordlessly stole his brandy

"There you are" he says later.

"Here I am" and silence falls once more.

"Lucius and Pete arrived safe and sound on land they... Gave us the signal so everyone else went to sleep or whatever"

Ed nods.

"most of them were anyway too drunk to function anymore so.. it was just for the best"

Ed nods once more. They keep trading the bootle and once more is Stede who breaks the silence

"lovely ceremony, wasn't it? They seemed very happy"

Ed felt a bitter laugh escape from his throat "fuck should I know mate"

"what, you've never witnessed a matelotage before? In all your years at the sea?"

Edward could just shut up and keep up with the silent treatment, but it's Stede, and for how much he's pissed off and mad and hurt he can never just stop speaking to Stede. Explaining him things.

Not when he's looking at him expectantly, ready to listen to anything he has to say

"fuck, mate, I don't know, in our... Line of business.. people rarely wants to parade a weak point like that, you know? It's like putting a target on them, and viceversa. Also" he chugs another bit of liquore

"makes little sense to talk about 'death do us apart' when it can happen literally a moment later"

Stede seemed to absorb his words with a little nod of the head

"As someone who's technically been married I would agree but I don't know. You say it makes little sense but..au contraire, my dear, i believe that when you find the absolute perfect person it's imperative that you commit yourself fully to them. Most importantly if your time together is short"

He says all of this with the same audacity he had earlier, when he spoke about love and acceptance for Lucius and Black Pete

He is looking at him, eyes set and strong, and for a moment it's a completely different night and everything is much easier and complicated at the same time

Edward wasn't a coward, so he looked back.

Another moon, another Stede, another Edward, but the same damn little to none space between them

As that night, Edward wasn't really ready. As that night, he wishes he was a little braver. Just enough to kiss Stede again.

Then Stede does something even crazier, by all standard

He takes on of his hands, set the brandy bottle aside, and takes into his for a moment, before raising it to his lips and kiss it softly

The touch is so gentle that nearly break him into million pieces again

Edward is transfixed. His fight or fly response is doing shit since the only good alternative is throwing himself down the damn mast and swim until he reaches China

But that would mean release Stede hold and. No. He wasn't gonna do that.

So he does nothing and just wait for the moment to pass, for the feeling to settle

Stede keeps quiet and rejoice that Edward is actually allowing him to do that

There's hope for him. For them.

He squeeze the hand one last time before releasing it and getting up

"oh, well, time to bed" he says, not really expecting an answer

He starts going down the steps, but then he stops, only his face visible now

"you know, you can join me" he says, his voice impossibility soft

Edward sit a little more straight, the hand Stede forsake now cold, and swallows

"maybe later" he lies, and both know it

"whenever you wish" is the goodnight Stede gives him

So Edward can pretend to go down later

Join Stede in his warm bed

Help him prepare for the night

And maybe one day it will be more than just words

BNHA 340 - Thoughts

So in the 3rd instalment of how everyone became a hero, it's time to make all the people with no quirks or currently too injured to fight to form a super-tight and restrictive task force to discuss the heroes' plans.

Finally it occurs to someone to ask Ragdoll about the specifics of her stolen quirk, and Hawks goes "Myeah"

and All Might stops his moping and goes all theatrical whoosh, throwing cute little villain magnets around to reveal the masterplan.

Yep. Separate them. So let's take a breather here, because it means most probably that there will be:

a Team Shigaraki (with Deku obviously - and who else? I doubt they'll let him go without pros and Endeavor is still the No. 1. in name at least, but also Endeavor may be on Dabi-detail, and it needs to be people who can fly and evade Decay. So who could it be? Mirio I guess could phase through Decay and Nejire can fly and if Amajiki eats some bird, presumably he could fly too. So Deku + UA Big 3? and then maybe Shinsou's mind control, or Monoma with 5-minutes of Erasure? And then I guess maybe Ryukyu for some extra flight)

a Team Ol' Nutsack Face (and my money is on BJ leading this, with all their Kamino history, which will put Bakugou here, possibly Mt Lady joining bringing along the Lurker trainees?)

a Team Dabi (with Shouto - and I guess maybe Endeavor finally putting family first? Maybe they'll keep this one small and familial)

+ Other teams yet to be determined - not sure if he means Toga or Spinner or Skeptic or all of the above. In any case, little pocket fights would allow all of Class A to shine.

And just because they are separated at the start, it doesn't mean they won't all converge in the end. I'm thinking this plan will fall apart, and UA will be under siege, because you don't spend chapters in the endgame hyping up a defence system that never comes into play. And I still want my Origin Trio ending and so fingers crossed that they'll come together in the end.

So anyways, back to the plan - which apparently all hinges on Aoyama - who is a bit nervous about this, and gets a chat with Aizawa (who gets All Might's full vote of confidence)

and we get several pages worth of amazing Aizawa panels (so that's a win-win) and I'll say what we are all thinking. Even with the eye-patch, peg leg, hospital pyjama combo, Aizawa got a post-war glow-up.

I could watch him to talk to all of he students like this - with no sugarcoating, but also just somehow finding very empathic things to say. Rational deception never looked quite so hot... It really feels like he's grown so much as a teacher and his background with Shirakumo makes him better at reaching the kids with low confidence, with guilt or failure burdening them. It's Aizawa's hard-learned lesson that as bad as you may feel, it's worth taking the hand of friends who still try to reach you.

Aizawa's plan of course involves Shinsou, so this is also a chapter of how finally, finally, FINALLY he gets to do hero stuff. I feel pretty teary about this, because he's had one of the hardest journeys with many obstacles to overcome and now that he's there, suddenly everything is falling apart. But he seems determined, and I like HK giving a little nod to those two friends who supported him at his low-point - acknowledging that even heroes need heroes sometimes.

All in all, a neat little chapter, slowing the pace a bit. Even the exposition is more fun with cute little details. It's a good start for the new year and I'm hoping that the endgame will bring back all the things I love about this manga.
