I'm beginning to wonder if the reveal of everything will happen because Anya gets found by the scientists who originally had her and kidnap her.
And when Loid goes after her because how dare they take his daughter from him they are jeopardising Operation Strix he discovers that his beloved fake wife is also there and ready to stab people but also saw him be super spy like and they both finally clue in that the other is not what they seem.
But they have to come clean because there is something more inportant at stake, saving Anya...and what do you mean they took her because she's a telepath???. Yor is all 'how dare you lie to me I can't believe you are my enemy...I would stab you right now but my knives are busy and also Anya might cry'. And Loid is kind of stuck on the fact that Yor is somehow more dangerous than her SSS brother and knows she can kick his ass so he's reacting rather than acting for now.
So they team up to get their daughter back instead of murder each other. And oh shit they are actually a super good and coordinated team if only they weren't on opposite sid...'wait, the people you work with want to PREVENT a war, too???'.
Of course, by the time they get to Anya, Bond got there first.

spy x family role swap Eden AU where Anya and Damian did the whole fake/legal marriage thing for the enrollment process but don’t live together. Damian is following in his father’s footsteps, working his way up through the government, lots of powerful men keep apartments in the city so they can be closer to work. People have their suspicions but they’re polite enough not to say anything. Loid is fine with it because he never quite warmed up to his “stepdad” anyway.
and then one day when he’s a young teen Loid comes home barely holding back tears because his crush classmate just lost her parents and it’s only her and her brother now and what’s gonna happen to them? There’s no other family to take them in. Yes, Loid is upset he’ll never see Yor again, but it’s also bringing back memories of when he was alone as a kid and he wouldn’t wish that on anyone, especially not someone he likes.
of course, Anya has much the same trauma from her childhood, so the next thing she knows she’s calling Damian and seeing if he’d be okay “adopting” two more kids. Damian is like “sure fine whatever” because he figures it’ll give him some good press (and he could never deny Anya anything, seriously, he’d chop off a toe for that woman). But it’d be a bit awkward having two teenagers in the house, and Yuri really seems to dislike Loid for some reason... Hey! Damian has his own apartment! What if the Briar siblings moved in with him?
Damian, weak, agrees.
and then it’s a story of two single parents who are technically married to each other.

*SHAKES YOU AGGRESSIVELY*
TELL ME ABOUT YOUR “Zarc is an incarnation of The Supreme King” THEORY I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS YOU HAVE GOT ME HOOKED I AM OBSESSED WITH THESE FIRE TAKES YOU ARE SPITTING OP
Jaden and Yuya are now my favorite dynamic of all time, and now that I’m being shown the similarities I’m wondering if it’s really just a coincidence GX and Arc-V are my absolute favorites out of all the Yugioh series this is insane 👀
Hehe. Gladly <3
(Uh. This got long so it's going beneath the cut for the sake of people's dashboards)
Well, first off, there's just a lot of similarities between Zarc (the original Zarc, before he split into the Yu-bois) and Jaden. Both can talk to duel spirits, both start out chipper and are driven to the edge by grief, both split into various personas/people (Jaden with himself and the supreme king, Zarc obviously into the Yu-bois), both fuse with their ace monster(s), and both carry the title of "Supreme King". Most interesting, to me at least, is how both shape a lot of their identities around what they think people want from them.
Zarc was content to be an amazing duelist, but felt pressured to put on a good show, to be more brutal. Jaden, more subtly, constructs most of his personality off being easygoing, chill, and carefree, because he internalized that his emotions are dangerous, and people would rather deal with happy Jaden than the emotional disregulation mess that he actually is.
And both of them, when they get overwhelmed, adopt a mentality of "Well, the world might as well burn with me."
Tumblr media
Jaden, rather than feel his grief, locks off his own trauma behind a brick wall and goes on smiling. Yuya, rather than deal with his dads disappearance, does the same.
I'd also like it noted that supreme king Jaden and supreme king Yuya have yellow eyes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And some teal/orange eye asymmetry
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly, even dragon form Yuya and the Supreme Kings armor have similar silhouettes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mostly its in the spikes on the shoulders and elbows, and the fact that Zarc Yuya forms a weird chestplate (and that this is the same art team and visual style)
Another thing I get hung up on is that both Jaden and Yuri have super poly. In GX, Jaden had to go through an entire arc of misery to get that card, and Yuri just? Has it?
So my little headcanon, is that in the original timeline, before the dimensions were split, Zarc had the spirit of The Supreme King, able to command duel monsters and wield The Gentle Dark. Unfortunately for everyone, he got a teensy bit traumatized before he could enact his destiny of defeating The Light Of Destruction. Using his powers, he fused with his dragons, nearly destroyed the world, etc, etc. When he split, the Supreme King couldn't just split into four the same way the rest of his soul could, and so while the dimensions split, the past was rewritten to attach the power to a different soul, with a different guardian to boot. Similar to how the timeline got all borked to set everything back to a late nineties world of duel monsters.
Which would make Yuya 1/4 of an alternate universe version of Jaden. And I think there's a lot of fun to be had with that idea :)

i truly think the "a good show makes you crawl on the floor, cry and suffer" mentality tumblr (2010-2016) created is STILL affecting our perception on what is a blorbo or not.
so first of all, let's look at the urban dictionary definition of blorbo:
Tumblr media
NOWHERE on this page is saying a blorbo should be:
toxic
miserable
chaotic
dumbass
you should have a love-hate relationship with them
i'm definitely NOT saying that a blorbo shouldn't be all those things, but these are not necessary for a character to be a blorbo. [Miette (from real life) is a perfect example of this. she's our beloved blorbo and yet she's strong, a genius and non-toxic.]
now, i know most of yall know why i'm writing this. we all are aware of the active warzone tumblr has got going on. now to get to my point,
i know voltron fandom went apeshit over ships, created langst tags and stuff. (tbh i've learned all of these recently) but let's sit and think why. i've mentioned in one of my posts or rbs that the only thing i vividly remember about voltron is the queerbaiting and i know for a fact that queerbaiting was one of the biggest factors of these... actions. now when we look at yoi, we see a rather more peaceful fandom. is it because the show had a weaker chokehold on its fans? absolutely not.
i can assure you if yoi queerbaited us the way voltron did, there would be a chaos. and i'm not saying it in the way fans going crazy is funny or shit, no. i'm saying this as in real life chaos, like fans would threaten the creators or create their own reality. they WOULD remake yoi. there aren't any ship wars because victuuri (victor nikiforov x yuuri katsuki) is the ultimate ship, like there aren't any other possible options. nearly every single fan fell straight for victuuri. now think about how many fans are there and how many of them ships victuuri like they're praying to god itself. victuuri made me cry for DAYS, the plottwist was absolutely brilliant and no, none of these emotions were negative but god knows no show on earth made me feel the way yoi did. i'm not saying yoi is the best show ever or it's flawless. we all know our shows (blorbos are from) are generally not the best medias ever. but the way me and so many other fans bonded with this show, these 2 characters (or maybe 3, i don't like yurio that much) and that ship is indescribable. after watching yoi, i've realised that your favourite show doesn't necessarly need to make you feel like you've been stabbed in the chest bazillion times and suffer. no, it also can make you feel like you're on the verge of exploding with the white and shining happiness and love. i'm also pretty sure that's what most of the yoi fans feel, and also sure that no other show would make me feel the same way i felt while watching yoi.
yuuri katsuki, the man who made me feel all those things along with his husband victor nikiforov, is:
a canon bi king who had a crush on probably the prettiest girl in his childhood town and then got engaged to his lifelong idol (also probably the prettiest man in figure skating and,, the world)
anxious disaster (like, it's canon that he has anxiety and he was quite relatable and important for the fans with anxiety) who manages to say the MOST ridiculous stuff and yet tries his best to communicate with people about his needs and weaknesses
world's one of the best skater yet he's unaware how much of an pride he is for his country, fans and family and how good he is. STILL breaks his idols (literal legend of the figure skating) score
made irl queer people cry over him and figure skaters fall for him
got drunk af on the banquet of the gpf which he lost (BECAUSE HIS DOG DIED) and drank over 16 flutes of champagne AND DID POLEDANCE WITH THE SLUTTIEST MAN EVER, DANCED WITH HIS IDOL, WON A BREAKDANCE COMPETITION WITH HIS SOON-TO-BE RIVAL AND THEN DRY HUMPED HIS IDOL WHILE ASKING HIM TO BE HIS COACH
my point is, just because a character doesn't go through hell or make you feel like shit doesn't mean that he isn't a blorbo. you still can think that lance is more of a blorbo, good for you! but i really don't think we need fantasy to feel good.

*Spoiler SxF chapter 73*
At this point, I’m hoping for Yuri and Yor backstory upcoming in the future.
I felt bad for Billy backstory, but then, we still need the main character sympathy related to them right now. I mean, both Yor and Yuri are the one whose slaughter their members , and Billy has bad history to the sss and police. But there are reasons why Yor join Garden and Yuri join Sss.
If Endo ignored this then it’s such a miss opportunity. I want to see the parallel. But then, I guess we will leave to Anya done the sympathy job for Billy ( hope he still alive in this arc, I think if Endo really think of the backstory for him, there is a chance for his character still get going)

Just know that I’ll write just about any ship with Yuri that isn’t Gross, provided there’s chemistry between our portrayals.
That said, in terms of ships that make my little heart go brrr, right now I’m on some serious Yuri/Balthus and Yuri/Claude shit. Why? I could hardly tell you. They simply spark undefinable joy in me.

there are illiterate takes about melinda desmond in the tag again....
#hope.txt#and by illiterate i mean#people who are determined to see her as this all black villain who hates her son#and just refuse to engage with the hints in the text that she clearly hates her husband#and loves her son even though him loving his father makes that REALLY challenging for her#why would her internal monologue be compared to yuri if she was lying to herself about loving damian#why would she have been obviously crying#why would she go out of her way to make a home cooked meal for him even if she did not stay#if she did not love him#she doesn't have to do any of that if she's just pretending for the image#especially the meal i mean#no one is gonna know about what happens in the desmond household she has no reputation to uphold when they are alone#the desmonds are explicitly the antithesis OF the forgers#the forgers are all lying about their identity to one another because of their circumstances#but the bonds they form with one another are transparent and easy to understand (even if twilight is in turbo denial)#but the desmonds IDENTITIES are exactly what they seem to be on the surface#it is their bonds with one another as a FAMILY that are muddied and hard to understand#in what world would the answer of 'she just hates poor damian cause she hates donovan' track with that#that's straightforward! basic! easy to understand!#but the desmond family ISNT easy to understand they're RECLUSIVE#the whole struggle is literally born from that fact#nobody knows what's happening behind the scenes!#what it's like in their house!#what their connections are!!#its complicated!!!#WHO IS MELINDA SUPPOSED TO PERFORM FOR AT THE DESMOND HOUSE WHEN THE ONLY ONES AROUND TO WITNESS ARE THE DESMONDS AND THEIR STAFF#some of you guys are fucking brain dead i swear

In addition to Yor's epiphany scene, this scene was the other one I was most looking forward to in season 2 - a scene that, in my opinion, is one of the most Twiyor-ish scenes in the series so far 💖
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why is it so significant? Because there was no reason for Twilight to put on any Loid Forger acting in that moment. He wasn't conversing with nor being scrutinized by anyone. So why would he give that soft smile followed by such affectionate, comforting words as "お疲れ様/otsukaresama"? (this can be translated in many ways, but generally it's something you say to thank someone for their hard work).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The answer is because it's something he truly felt...he understood the sacrifice Yor made for Anya's happiness and genuinely appreciated it (if only he knew the sacrifice she made on the larger scale, lol). While he's a bit perturbed at first since some onlookers were snickering at him, it didn't take long for him to soften and then graciously carry his queen and princess the girls back to the ship 😭
But Twilight overall was really soft in this episode and I loved it~ From his blush upon seeing Yor to the several times he gave that same soft smile when talking with/looking at her...I think Anya was right when she called him out on the ship about missing his wife 😅
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I liked how the anime conveyed his shock when noticing her bruised face...what must have been his thought at that moment? 👀
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The scenes of the family activities translated better in animated form in my opinion. While they were each only a single panel in the manga, they lasted a few seconds each in the anime, plus the addition of the insert song helped the with the comfy, wholesome vibe~ Also the part where Yor inadvertently chucks Anya across the ocean is still hilarious.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Loid's dorky skip at the beginning of the episode translated very well in animated form too 😅
Tumblr media
The ending of this chapter in the manga always felt a bit rushed to me...it quickly jumps from the aforementioned scene of them returning to the ship, to suddenly being home, reuniting with Bond and Franky, having a meal together, then Twilight meeting Sylvia, all within a few panels. Even though I wish the anime added more than just some additional scenes of the ship leaving the island, I felt it flowed much better in the anime since, just like the family activities, each scene in the ending lasted a second or two instead of being a single illustration.
But I love how this chapter/episode ends, with Yor, Anya, and Bond napping while Anya draws about her family vacation. This seems to take place the next day or maybe later the same day they got home, so makes sense they'd still be tired from the trip!
Tumblr media
By the way, the manga has this additional scene showing that Olka and company are safe. Weird that the anime didn't stick it in at some point.
Tumblr media
Also, the anime team didn't have to go so hard with this episode's key visual but they did...and I love it 😍 Might actually be my favorite of the key visuals so far!
Tumblr media
I was very happy to see the "surrounded by liars" panel finally animated! This is such a funny scene and a great way to fully wrap up the cruise arc.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also burst out laughing at Yuri's locker 🤣
Tumblr media
Damian is surprisingly laid back in this episode. I think the reason is because Anya's antics aren't directly involving him. He tends to go total tsundere only when she's actually talking to him, lol.
Tumblr media
The new scene of Yor getting the keychains for her coworkers was a nice addition! Guess it's canon that Yor and Anya didn't sleep for the entire trip back, lol. Glad they got to spend family time on the ship too! (though I wish we could have seen Yor's reaction waking up in Loid's bottom bunk bed, haha. He must have brought her to his room since he wouldn't know where her room is. Unless she woke up before he even put her in a bed, in which case she would have been super embarrassed knowing he was carrying her around in public 😆)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Looks like next week the anime will be changing the order of things a bit and giving us the Becky home-wrecking and Fiona chapters (the latter of which seems to have some anime original content?) The Becky chapter is one of my favorite stand-alone chapters...I'm already dying of laugher thinking about it 😂

October 22-28 is Ace Week 2023, so I’d like to give a spotlight to some manga I have enjoyed that have also touched on asexuality.
I Want To Be A Wall by Honami Shirono
Tumblr media
A 3 volume Josei manga about the lavender marriage between Gakurouta, a closeted gay man who pines for his childhood friend, and Yuriko, an aromantic, asexual BL fangirl.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She Loves To Cook, and She Loves To Eat by Sakaomi Yuzaki
Tumblr media
An ongoing yuri Josei manga with a TV adaptation about two women who bond over food. The series recently introduced Yako, an asexual lesbian, and it’s possible that protagonist Nomoto may be on the ace spectrum as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is Love The Answer? by Uta Isaki
Tumblr media
A single volume josei manga about Chika, a young college student who has always considered herself an “alien” because she has no desire for romance or physical intimacy, but finds community with people like herself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Our Dreams At Dusk: Shimanami Tasogare by Yuhki Kamatani
Tumblr media
A 4 volume Seinen manga about a closeted gay boy who gets to know the patrons of a drop-in center who all turn out to be part of the LGBTQ community. Someone-san might be considered a deuteragonist of the story.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’d also like to mention two yuri manga I haven’t finished yet- I have only read the first volume of both- but because of what others have said I know they feature asexual characters!
Catch These Hands! (murata)
Tumblr media
Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moon (Shio Usui)

Ao no Exorcist is a Shonen series written by a woman and it shows
Since the latest chapter, I've been thinking about how several usual Shonen tropes are written rather differently under Kato-sensei's pen. No judgement or anything, it's just cool to observe. Some examples :
1) Rin's mentor is a woman
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2) Rin's secret, despite being the MC, was revealed in ch13 to the entire cast, meanwhile Shiemi, The Main Girl, who was introduced to be so helpless is only starting to be explained.
Tumblr media
3) Also, the Mysterious plot-relevant Shonen Parent is actually the twins' mother. (Of course Shiro is super plot-relevant too, but Satan is still angsting over Yuri and she's a huge part of the reason why he's the big bad)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
4) Rin also changed his view about his future throughout the story: from dropping out of school, passing by hoping to become the Order's Paladin (probably to cope with Shiro's death and also to antagonize Arthur), to finally showing way more interest and potential in the (less epic and heroic in appearance) field of talismanic cooking.
Tumblr media
5) When it comes to arcs, mental illness is a valid reason to build a character arc around...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
6) And so is making an arc about girls being "cursed" to basically "get married and have children before they hit 30, the age where their beauty fade thus they become useless" :
Tumblr media Tumblr media
7) ANE is a story about women becoming traitors to protect their loved ones, like Mamushi
Tumblr media
or becoming overwhelmed because men toyed with their feelings like Tamamo
Tumblr media
8) Older women can be absolute badasses like Shiemi's grandma
Tumblr media
or Lucy.
Tumblr media
9) Complicated mother-daughter relationship and girl friendships are given as much focus as complicated father-son relationships and sweet bro friendships (like Bon and his dad during the Kyoto arc, as well as the complicated but deep bond between the Kyoto Trio)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
10) And one of my favorites: full time single dad, asking for help to do the job as well as he can and finding his true purpose in life by doing so :D
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hmm and now that I think about it, the only other Shonen series written by a woman I've been as invested in is Kuroshitsuji, by Yana Toboso, and similar examples can be found in it too, namely:
1) If Ciel ever finally admits needing a mentor, his aunt Frances will probably play that role
Tumblr media
2) Girls can be super strong & skilled (Elizabeth, Mey Rin) and clever (Sieglinde)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3) (one part of) the Big Bad is a woman (Queen Victoria)
Tumblr media
4) maybe Ciel's entire revenge stems from a conflict between Queen Victoria and Ciel's maternal grandmother, Claudia.
Tumblr media
5) the Undertaker has been a continuously freaking pain in the ass because he probably fell in love with that same maternal grandmother and couldn't mourn properly
Tumblr media
TL;DR we love our boys and their spectacular growth and development under women's pens a.k.a shonen series written by ladies are hella fun to read. :D

Spy x Family would have been so fucking bleak and depressing if it weren't for the comedy angle. It could have easily been a story highly focused on how war impacts people even years after it ends, being constantly pessimistic and dark and focusing on the monstrous things people are capable of. It could easily show just the hopeless side of it.
Instead, while it's very realistic on how the characters have been affected by the war, it chooses to put that face-to-face with natural, everyday humanity. Twilight's reluctance to accept his feelings for his family is treated with a touch of humor because it's compared to the innocent way Anya and Yor offer their love - and that's what being human is.
We're meant to live with each other. We're meant to love each other, it's literally in our fucking DNA to create bonds and depend on others for emotional support. Our very first instinct upon being born is to cry because our DNA tells us we will be brought into a world that will hear our cry and help us. It's how people find hope in each other, in small acts of everyday kindness because we're meant to live like that, to support and help and connect with each other.
And the characters' bleak past is contrasted with humanity's innate everyday kindness to the point of making it humorous because war is such a deviation from how humans are meant to live that a man who spends his entire life affected by it looks almost comical in contrast with a little girl who, based on her basic human instincts, believes that she can find a family to love her and can help achieve world peace, with someone right in the middle being one who has seen war but had had a constant reminder of how humanity is about connection and love (Yor, with Yuri being her reminder).
And I just find it so very fitting and also very based of Endo to choose to add that angle in the story. Humanity is not bleak. Even if we deviate from our path we can still find our way and we're naturally inclined to that way. We just have to see the good in each other, to believe that we will not be left alone, to share and know that if we're ever in need, someone will offer their hand to share with us.
