I don't even like thinking about toji taking megumis girl. Like, in my mind he's trying to atone 😪
Yes!!! Let’s talk about it!
He loves ‘Gumi so much. He was just having a bit of a ✨ emotional breakdown ✨ during that whole selling him off deal. And personally I was coming off the Shouto train so it hits twice as hard cause he always gets his GF taken by Endeavor or Dabi (sometimes Bakugo), which Dabi makes sense since he HATES Shouto. But post-atonement Enji 😭I totally get the kink though (tbh I kinda like it in reverse 🤭). There’s actually a really GOOD fic I like called U&I with Bully!Megumi and you sleep with Toji to kinda get back at him after finding out he’s been using you. I like the revengeful ones or when it’s a 2-parter and they find out what you did.
BUT I DIGRESS, okay so I got some big brainrot and I was half asleep and started thinking about it and ahh! Plus I didn't post for his birthday so this is like the most slap together, grammarless of my brain rotting (and you brought it about Nonnie, so you gotta take responsibility lol) but:
»»———- ———-««
(SFW) Imagine okay, like a modern AU: Toji is trying to be a better dad after the endless benders after losing his wife. He went from floating from random woman to woman, trying to catch that feeling again like when he was with his first wife. It always devolves into the same thing with him squeezing them dry for every penny he can get before moving on to the next with Megumi in tow. Sometimes it didn’t include Megumi, Toji would leave him alone for weeks to months at a time as he got older, occasionally bringing home some new mom that he’ll eventually abandon at the end of the day or that eventually gets tired of him; tired of both of them because Megumi refused to be nice to anyone Toji brought home.
But it finally hits him to be better, to try to be a good parent. Sadly, it’s too late. Megumi is a teenager now, one year from graduating high school and going to college, where Toji will definitely not have any chance to atone. He doesn’t blame the kid, it’s his own fault.
However, he sees a lot of himself in his son. The apathy that borders depression, the lone wolf attitude, the quietness and independent streak, the very small number of friends (if any, because Megumi NEVER brings anyone over or talks about school at all, usually avoids talking to him in general). He isn’t really sure what to say to the kid, not that he’s figured it all out himself or that Megumi would even listen to him. Indifference was the best he could hope for most of the time.
Then one day, he shows up at home with someone. A girl, even. And you’re cute, way too chipper to be following around his wallflower of a kid. Always entering and leaving with a “Hi, Mr. Fushiguro. Bye, Mr. Fushiguro. Looking good today, Mr. Fushiguro. Love the haircut, Mr. Fushiguro. Rocking that sweater, Mr. Fushiguro. Have a good day, Mr. Fushiguro.”
You seem too good for nobodies like them; and when he teases Megumi with the notion, his son claims you’re just his class partner for this semester, nothing else. But Toji sees how soft he gets around you, the little bit of extra effort he puts in trying to make conversation when you’re over, the blush and grouchy embarrassed complaints he makes whenever Toji tells him to leave his room door open when you guys work on projects in there. The complaints usually get a little quieter given the right laugh from you.
You have a good effect. Megumi seems a little less tense, walking the world with a little less cynicism even though it’s still clearly there. He starts hanging out with two other kids from his school, Megumi claims they’re your friends, not his, but Toji has seen the pink haired boy over twice without you. Overall, you all seem like a really good kids.
One weekend you pop because you and your friends were in the neighborhood and wanted to see if Megumi wanted to join in on whatever you’re doing. Unfortunately, Megumi’s not home, but it gives Toji a small window to prod you a little about your relationship with Megumi. He’s observant enough to notice by now that the two of you like each other but he just wanted to hear it from you, and you make the most darling lovesick face when he asks. As far as he can piece together, you’re not dating officially but the entire world treats you as you are.
When Megumi finds out what happened though. He doesn’t like it, and he makes it clear that the interference was highly unappreciated it. Toji is simply sitting in the kitchen and trying to enjoy his apple, and he’s getting the interrogation treatment by this little gremlin (affectionately) half his size.
“What were the two of you talking about?” “Nothing in particular.” “If you don’t need anything then don’t bother her.” “Why? You don’t want me speaking to her?” “No. She isn’t your type anyway.”
Then, Megumi starts going off on a tangent of why Toji shouldn’t be interested. You’re too young, you're still months off from 18, you don’t have any money for him to leech, and there’s no way you can decide on a movie together with that age gap; 'You’ll kick the bucket 30 years before her' is the meanest one though.
Based on the disrespect, it still looks like Toji has a lot of work to put in but it’s almost cute, in an grouchy, bratty (also affectionately) sea urchin type way that he’s getting so worked up over you. He thinks the kid will combust if he mentions that he does think you’re cute (in an overly energetic bubbly kind of way), and it makes him release a short chuckle as he resists the intrusive thought, which only serves to make Megumi’s frustration even worse.
Normally, he'd get tired at this point and ask if Megumi was done mouthing off yet, but this time it makes him glad to see Megumi getting so worked up over something. It’s a good feeling to know his actions didn’t completely ruin his son, that he didn't completely destroy Megumi's ability to care about life like his former family and the world had once done to him. It makes smile the tiniest bit even as Megumi seems to try to trudge away after making his point. Whatever point there was to be had. The boy is such a chronic overthinking about everything and everyone, including if you’re one of those girls at the school that squeal when they see him pick him up at school on the rare occasion.
“Hey,” Toji calls out to get his attention. “Do you know what you’re doing?” It’s not the best words but it’s the only way to sum up the familiar feelings he gets of his past, right after he left his family, right before he met Megumi’s mom. And after losing her without ever really making the most of everything back then and treasuring the moments together. “It’s hard to find something like that. Don’t do anything you’ll regret.”
He can sense the tension draining from Megumi, the panic and shaky nervousness from seconds ago leaving in the form of drooped shoulders and a soften, mildly confused expression as he looks back at him. Something seems to finally click in that overly worked brain of the younger Fushiguro and he mumbles, “I know.”
And Megumi gets that look again, that quiet one, too caught up in his own head.
"Do I need to make room for a daughter-in-law in that case?" he asks lazily before taking another bite of his apple, the chewing echoing. It's enough to earn some grumbles and a red face. He smirks when the boy quickly decides to hobble back to his room and hide away in embarassment. Like a normal kid.
And Toji thinks that maybe…a small maybe… that maybe they’ve gotten a little closer. If only in that moment. Regardless, he really hopes that the talk is one of those things the school already covered because he really doesn’t want to be responsible for that.

who had the better development and who is the best written among origin trio so far including a part of the endgame?
I don't think their arcs are comparable like that:
Deku has a flat character arc as he is the moral paragon of the series
Bakugou has a redemption arc
Shoto has a healing / recovery arc
All 3 have strong and weak points.
I think for Izuku, his arc in Act 1 was the strongest as we discovered who he is as a person, his ideals, his strengths. He started to fade into a POV character post-Overhaul arc, and generally the narrative stopped challenging him enough. I think his endgame was a bit sacrificed to give others highlight (the way he was used to escalate Toga, react to everyone). I disliked very much the role of the Vestiges, who didn't add much and took a lot away from having Izuku in center as the character driving the resolution. Let's see what happens in Phase 3 of this fight.
Bakugou has a classic redemption arc, which is certainly the flashiest and most recognizable for fans as it is the type of arc where a character changes the most. Hori put a lot of effort into it, and I think it was spectacularly written until Ch 322. I personally dislike several things about his endgame so far (the death fake-out, the tremendous effort to save him and revive him being swept under the rug and trivialized, the whole weird off-balance of his "team"/"solo" fight aspect of him going against AFO). I think his scenes in Ch 360 and 362 were really well done, as well as the All Might rescue was great. But also he feels weirdly "pampered" by the narrative compared to nearly everyone else. It feels like Hori went into extremes both on his death and revival. Like Bakugou got everything he ever wanted, and arguably a bigger highlight than Deku himself in the eyes of the public, while all the other main characters, including the MC are being denied their wins, which makes me feel uneasy where this will go.
Shouto has a healing / recovery arc, which is written with quite a lot of nuance. I like how it's non-linear, how much Shouto struggles with his relationships with his family. He also has hands down the best quirk progression in the story, where every improvement is tied to some aspect of his healing or step he takes towards his family. It is really well done. Just like Izuku, Shouto's arc was very strong in Act 1, and he lost a lot of prominence in Act 2, which became dominated by Endeavor's redemption arc. though his main milestones were still present. Also, Toya's backstory being backloaded to the end of Act 2 and into Act 3, also meant that in the Todoroki plot there was a struggle to fit in all three of the POVs, at a time where Horikoshi was already growing impatient and was cutting a lot of corners. I think in the Dark Deku arc especially, Shouto would have needed a proper focused chapter for the fall-out of the Dabi reveal. His endgame power-up (Phosphor) and his fight against Touya were narratively pretty good. I think Hori delivered on the "family hero" part, but I think he still owes Shouto a proper resolution both with Touya and with Endeavor and the promise of the "become who you want to be" - where he actually gets to make a choice of his own, because Enji steps up as a father finally and it's not on Shouto anymore to pick up the pieces.

Do you have a post on Maria Reynolds? I haven't been able to find much information about her, I read she became a nun or something after the scandal??
i know i do, i am struggling to find it because tumblr's search function has and always will be ass
RAHHH I CANT FIND ANY OF THEM fuck this im giving you a short history of her life because i love you with all my heart
DISCLAIMER: i fucking hate Ron Chernow, especially for his treatment of Maria Reynolds in his book, but him and wikipedia are all I have right now and my relationship with him is very toxic pls help. also this post will discuss heavy things like forced prostitution and ron chernow absolutely butchering this subject so just be aware of what is best for you
Early Life
Maria Reynolds was born as Mary Lewis on March 30, 1768 to Susannah Van Der Burgh and Richard Lewis, who was Susannah's second husband. She had eleven siblings, and they did not have very much money, and were likely a pretty average 18th century white family in America, with poor literacy rates, struggles with debt, and the women being taken advantage of. They lived in Dutchess County, New York.
Maria was literate, but not well educated. This is something she was strongly mocked for by both her husband, Hamilton, Chernow, and other men. Well, I guess Hamilton didn't really mock her, but he definitely looked down on her for it. Fucking asshole. She also seemed to have very strong mood swings from a young age, and this could have been something psychological, like a mood disorder, or it could have been physiological or hormonal, such a menstrual disorder that was never properly treated because women's issues were not taken seriously at the time, mental or physical. This is also something she was mocked for.
Maria was married off to James Reynolds, a Revolutionary War veteran, on July 28th, 1783 when she was 15 years old. James Reynolds often lobbied the government for money after the war, foreshadowing his debt problems and later exploitation of his underage wife for money.
Together, the couple would have one daughter, Susan, named after her grandmother, who was born on August 18, 1785. Maria showed herself to be a devoted mother who would do anything for her daughter, including putting herself in harms way to make sure she didn't face the same fate. Unfortunately, Susan would also later be in an unhealthy relationship, despite her mother's efforts.
Maria Lewis was always described as very emotional, innocent, smart, and pretty, despite those who attempted to degrade her.
Men before Hamilton
It was early in her marriage when she was looked down upon by men, beginning with the son of her first landlady in Philadelphia.
"Her mind at this time was far from being tranquil or consistent, for almost the same minute that she would declare her respect for her husband, cry and feel distressed, [the tears] would vanish and levity would succeed, with bitter execrations on her husband. This inconsistency and folly was ascribed to a troubled, but innocent and harmless mind... [Reynolds] had frequently enjoined and insisted that she should insinuate herself on certain high and influential characters- endeavor to make assignments with them and actually prostitute herself to gull money from them." -Richard Folwell, August 12, 1797
Her complicated feelings about her husband allowed men to reduce her to being deceptive, however it shows that she was torn between her bias towards her husband, who had been around her and influencing her throughout her formative, adolescent years, and the things he was asking her to do, including prostituting herself.
These escalated to more than requests for her to prostitute herself to rich men into demands and threats. Reynolds became physically abusive to his wife if she did not comply with his demands to sleep with and extort rich men. Eventually, this became a pattern, and she became known as a prostitute who slept separately from her husband so she could entertain her midnight visitors, when essentially she was being human trafficked by her husband at the age of 18.
There is evidence to suggest that she only slept with Hamilton when Reynolds threatened to physically abuse her daughter, Susan. I'm not going to go into too much detail about the affair because I believe it's over done, but I am going to discuss how Ron Chernow talks about this woman, and the consequences of victim blaming.
Ron Chernow Hates Women
Ron Chernow discusses the Reynolds Affair in chapter 19 of his novel Alexander Hamilton. Already, he places some of the blame on Elizabeth Hamilton with the sentence "It was a dangerous moment for Eliza to abandon Hamilton,", even though he likes to put her on a pedestal so people think he's a feminist (Chernow 363). You're not a feminist, Ron, you're a 75 year old incel, and I feel bad for your wife.
Chernow introduces Maria Reynolds by stating her age at the time of the affair (23), and for some reason, making up the fact that her name is pronounced "Mariah"??? He gives no citation for this, so I'm assuming he made it up to make her seem more slutty. Her name was Maria. Actually, her name was Mary, but if we had any link between her and the Christian figure for maternity and purity, well that wouldn't work with the portrayal of her as a disgusting, crazy, lying whore, right?
Chernow uses words like "doleful tale", "fanciful", "conspired", and "trickster" to describe Maria, but gives no proof of her malicious intent towards Hamilton. He portrays Hamilton as vain, however a savior to Maria, and she simply HAD to have been in love with him because of how good of a person he was. Ron Chernow manipulates Maria Reynolds' character to fit his personal belief that there are two kinds of women: good, pure, Christian homemakers, and uneducated sluts who deserve their mistreatment from men (Chernow 367).
Even though Ron Chernow finds it more comfortable to believe that Maria worked in cohorts with her piece of shit husband, and that they together decided to use Hamilton for his money, the truth is that she was a severely abused woman throughout her entire life, especially at the hands of James Reynolds. Her manipulation of Hamilton was not to gain something, but to prevent her and her daughter from being abused. Chernow glosses over this, dismissing it as something she made up to secure a divorce, but it was proven true in a court of law. Chernow's famous cognitive dissonance strikes again: the US government is very securely made with a magnificent justice system, yet uneducated, illiterate women can manipulate it to get... a piece of notarized paper! Yeah, don't let this senile old man write any more books. Thanks.
Aftermath
The backlash from The Reynolds Pamphlet, published 1797, would haunt Maria for the rest of her life. She remarried twice, once to Jacob Clingman, who is another piece of shit who should have his dick guillotined, and the other time to Dr. Matthew (idk his last name) who she was a housekeeper for. She allegedly wrote her own pamphlet, but never published it. Idk anything about that.
Maria would raise her two grandchildren after her daughter's untimely death. She also changed her name back to Mary, becoming Mary Matthew for the rest of her life. She was devoutly religious, joining the Methodist Church, but not a nun. She died loved on March 25, 1828. And if there isn't someone on earth who loves Mary Matthew, then I am dead.
Here's your Maria Reynolds post. I love her so much, and I will defend her until I have no voice left, my fingers can't write or type, my eyes can't move, and my legs can't walk. She deserves so much better than what she got and how she's been portrayed. Vive Mary Lewis.

Ooohhh so how do we think all the dynamics with dilf!luke would change if his kid was maybe ~10 years younger than you instead of your age (like maybe you met cuz you were their camp counselor or something and they got super attached to you)?
Omggg hiiiii! I got so excited when I saw it was you who sent in a request, I absolutely cherish all your ideas regarding this AU🩵🩵
Because I think it shows the subtle change in dynamics best I focused especially on a first encounter and then on how I imagine his child to cause further entanglement between him and you, since I think they'd definitely be the catalysator, especially in the beginning
• Luke, of course, remains a single dad in his late thirties to early forties and lives in a nice, cozy house with his child
• (if we assume they're about 10 years of age, he became a father at thirty)
• you, as a camp counselor/tutor/teacher/etc. don't know anything about his person, the picture you have in your mind consisting solely out of stories told by either his child or your co-workers
• but since you haven't met him yet, you're not particularly interested, not paying them much mind, as everything you know about the kid's guardians blurs together into a confusing mixture anyway
• of course this will change sooner or later, possibly when Mr. Skywalker comes to pick up his child and you see him for the first time from afar
• it's hard to miss him
• his consuming presence makes him stand out strongly from among the other parents gathering at the entrance, the dark, perfectly tailored suit he's wearing only accentuating the stark contrast
• maybe he just left work?
• even with so much distance between the two of you he strikes you as very handsome, though you can't help but feel glad you didn't run into him directly
• you wouldn't have been able to speak even a single word
• still you can't get him out of your mind and going forward you find yourself putting decidedly more effort into your looks
• just in case you see him around around again
• just in case should he take notice of you as well
• (you're only a little bit embarrassed by how quickly he put his spell on you)
• meanwhile his child, always happy to engage in conversation, seems to really love their dad, a smile blossoming on their little face whenever they talk about him
• especially as soon as they realize you're listening closely they can barely find another topic, making you endeavor to learn more about Mr. Skywalker a lot easier
• quickly you don't only know his first name but also when and if he's celebrating his birthday, what kinds of ice cream he likes best and which he doesn't like at all, details about his favorite knitted sweater and that he recently gifted them a rubber duck to take their baths with
• which is great, really, and you're not going to deny how very interesting all of this is
• but is he single????
• obviously you can't just ask a child whether their mum is in the picture or not and if their dad is currently dating someone
• luckily, or not so luckily, you're not the only one who's attention was caught by the tall, attractive man and you're able to catch some snippets of gossip among colleagues and the parents of other kids
• though gossip is all it is and soon you know why
• Mr. Skywalker is as cold as he is beautiful and impossible to draw near to
• it takes all of your courage to not flee the scene when one day his child decides to introduce you
• normally they let go of your hand as soon as they spot their father, quickly leaving you behind in their excitement as they jump into his arms
• today, however, they don't and you're starting to grow rather uneasy when they continue to drag you forward, towards a man already regarding you with raised eyebrows
• standing in front of him he's even more intimidating than from afar and you have to fight the need to lower your eyes when his gaze sweeps over you
• were it not for his child hanging on to your arm you would've left as fast as possible
• as it is though you're forced to stay
• bravely you endure the encounter consisting mostly of the child's happy blabbering and their father's polite but curt responses
• he's holding back, clearly not comfortable with your presence and studying you more and more intensely as time goes by
• he seems displeased and you have no idea why
• is your smile that terrible?
• did your greeting offend him in some way?
• does he not approve of how you're dressed?
• or about the way you interact with the children?
• you didn't think it possible but despite your initial feeling he eventually, slowly, starts to warm up to you over the next few months
• maybe due to the way his child obviously adores you?
• (yes absolutely, you're the only topic they can talk about at home, similarly to how they only talk about their father to you)
• true, he doesn't give you much to work with, the way he addresses you always stilted and his smile reserved, yet you couldn't be more relieved
• he doesn't seem to think you completely horrible and inadequate to take care of his child in his absence anymore!
• (also, as far as you know, none of your other colleagues have received a smile yet!)
• maybe you don't have a chance with him, this he made clear, but that's okay, there's joy to be found in a little harmless crush
• you dare to relax
• until his child invites you to their birthday party
• you had noticed, of course, how they followed you around like a duckling and how much you meant to them but still...
• wouldn't that mean to overstep a line?
• though when they present you a handmade birthday invite, smiling up at you so hopefully, you can't say no
• maybe it will make things easier for their parents (or hopefully just Mr. Skywalker?), you reason with yourself
• with you there they won't need to worry quite that much about a rambunctious crowd of little kids making a mess of their home
• you're good at your job and excell at pleasing even those hard to satisfy
• the longer you think about the upcoming event the more you feel your excitement grow
• you wonder if Mr. Skywalker is more relaxed in private
• as it turns out he's not
• and neither are you when you arrive and learn you are the only guest
• "I really like my friends", explains the child, "but I'd rather have you all to myself for once!"
• well
• there goes your plan to make a good impression by handling many kids on your own, while maybe sneaking a glance at Mr. Skywalker from time to time, who, in your head, sits somehwere in the distance, relaxing with a coffee
• of course, he does none of these things and instead never once leaves your vicinity, always lingering nearby to keep an eye on the two of you
• it's unnerving and continues to be so as you spend the day with activities his child planned for you
• at least there's no trace of a woman living here with them, which substantially lifts your mood despite the stern eyes you feel prickling in the back of your neck
• once it's time for you to go home you're exhausted
• to some extend you had fun, yes, but deep down you're ashamed
• how is anyone supposed to be taken seriously by an attractive older man while hosting a tea party for stuffed animals, rolling around in the grass and playing Mario Kart?
• does he even think you competent enough to do anything after watching his child chasing you with a water gun?
• your little friend insists on hugging you goodbye tightly
• "can we do this again soon? Pleaseee?", they whisper in your ear and you're inclined to agree were it not for the dark figure leaning against the wall a few steps away
• "you'll have to ask your daddy", you whisper back, hoping this will be a topic for another day and discussed without you
• once again things turn out differently though when they immediately throw themselves at their dad with great enthusiasm
• "DADDY CAN THEY PLEASE COME OVER AGAIN SOON?????"
• you don't know where to look
• what if Mr. Skywalker denys his child's request, here, right in front of you?
• he has the guts to do so, that much you were able to gather
• "we'll see about that, yes?"
• at least that's not a no, you tell yourself, yet you feel your eyes water in embarrassment
• forcing a smile you nevertheless thank him for his hospitality and receive a polite nod in return, before finally being allowed to flee the uncomfortable situation with burning cheeks, your heart beating painfully in your chest
• still holding back tears you've nearly reached the street when behind you the front door opens again causing you freeze
• half hoping, half fearing it's Mr. Skywalker you turn around, but instead spot the much smaller figure of his child against the backdrop of the lit interior
• you can't tell for sure but they seem to be grinning in mischievous delight before their little voice rings out clearly through the darkness
• "mY DADDY THINKS YOURE VERY PRETTY"
• for a second it's quiet
• then
• "but I'm not supposed to tell you because he says it's not proper"

Could you elaborate on that Orym-grief post? I find it interesting and I love ur character meta
Sure! The main thesis, is, well, the post: Orym has a healthy attitude towards his own grief and deals with it well, but isn't good at handling how the party feels. And, secondary to that, the fandom tends to flip this around in their perception of Orym.
Orym is very aware he is grieving and that this will be a life-long thing. He misses Will and Derrig very much and their absence is a hole in his life. He also has built a life around it. It's a process, certainly, but a process he trusts. He allows himself to feel his feelings (the gravesite sequence in Zephrah), but he also very much wants to live out his life (the feeling of failure when he died, his general enjoyment of things). He's a relatively subdued and quiet person, but he clearly finds a lot of joy in life.
The thing about grief is that it's a unique sort of pain, because there's really nothing to be done about it, and it is, typically, something that will always be there. The process is to find a way to live with that absence and make space for it while also making space for new things. It's an important lesson! It's also not how you should deal with other problems, because it's not really solution focused (or rather, the solution is "it is what it is, and it really hurts, and eventually, time will make it hurt somewhat less though it will flare up in specific situations.") For more on this: Caduceus covers very similar territory; his understanding of grief is incredibly strong, and his understanding of other problems often falters.
With grief, the answer for the living is ultimately "keep going," and that's the thing with Orym: he sure does keep going. But I think it leads him to push past things without stopping to unpack and solve them, because in his case (a guy with a great mother, a happy upbringing, a career he enjoyed, and a loving marriage, who then experienced a devastating loss) the answer really was "yeah, it really hurts that my husband and his father, who was essentially the only father figure I had, were senselessly murdered in an attack on my home. But let's put one foot in front of the other."
However, this is not actually great advice for much of Bells Hells. Several of them genuinely have conditions that lead to a complete loss of control and self that could harm or kill others, and they are at varying levels of dealing with it, potential to the peril of others. Orym notes that Fearne's impulses might put the party at risk, but he never does anything to address it other than say "hey, we need to work together." He even skirts around it himself! I think it's valid for him to approach Fearne to have a backup plan about Imogen potentially joining the Vanguard, but he says his piece and then goes and does that in private instead of fully hashing out why she'd say this in front of the people who were murdered by them, which means the root causes are never addressed. A lot of this party needs to be told both "hey, your feelings here are really valid and you should express your anger" and "hey, get your fucking shit together once you've done that." Orym tends to treat them either like they're grieving (a gentle "hey, we need to keep going, we need to get back"), or treat this like a group endeavor without delving into the individual.
I really suspect the reason we are having such a massive blow up right now is in part because this party has, for so long, been told "hey, your shit? It could ruin it for the rest of us, and we're a team," and Ashton very much went against this. I would not, frankly, be surprised if Imogen (for example) is angry not just only Ashton, but also generally, that she pushed down her stuff and maybe didn't make more efforts to contact her mother and work through that.
Essentially, Orym is really good at smoothing things over just enough to keep everything on task, but eventually, if the gear is broken, no amount of grease can keep it from jamming, and that's what just happened here with Ashton. This is what only repeated quick fixes and no preventative maintenance looks like.
(As for why the fandom thinks the opposite? I personally blame that most putrid - in several senses - belief, that conflict is always to be avoided, mixed in with a longstanding really toxic and genre/medium-ignorant attitude towards death and grieving. I think this goes hand and hand with the really pervasive attitude early on that Bells Hells were so open and honest instead of the truth: it was just a pleasant veneer.)

Gonna put forth "are you sure about this?" with ShigaDabiHawks.
Prompt: "Are you sure about this?"
Dabi hasn't had a lot of choices in his life. Or at least it's never felt like he's had a lot. Born for his father's ambition, raised until he broke to be a hero, and then left with the only choice of being discarded or pushing hard enough to make his father see that he was really worth something. Left with the choice of dying or becoming a villain. Every choice after that was whether or not he would survive. Has always chosen to survive, at least until he can make it to his goal. But those aren't complex choices, aren't things that really propose any real dichotomy because one will always be more correct than the other until he finally finished off Endeavor.
More complex choices started coming around once he joined up with the League of Villains. When things started popping up like, will he let them eat trash when there's a fully stocked kitchen because he doesn't need to expose any part of his past to them or will he make them dinner. Will he just leave the food for them on the counter so he doesn't have to see them eat or let them know him, or will he sit down on whatever surface he can claim in the bar and eat, and talk, and laugh with the rest. He thought those were harder choices, but in hindsight he's pretty sure that he'd never really had one in the first place. Not when his loneliness had been sitting so heavily in his chest for so long and even just the tentative thought of companionship had him putting in as much effort as he could to make sure that the goals of the League were seen too as completely as his own. Didn't seem like a choice when Duster started giving him more responsibility in the wake of his dedication. Didn't seem like a choice to decide to take that responsibility and do the best he can with it. But he hasn't ever resented that lack of choice. Hasn't been bothered. Easier to know he's going down the right path when the wrong one is so blatant in his periphery.
A lot harder right now when he doesn't know which choice to make, when he can't tell which one is the obvious wrong choice. Thinks that sleeping with his boss who could kill him with one careless touch is probably the wrong one. But it's hard to believe that when Duster's got a hand curved just above the staples on his thigh, another pushing careful fingers under the hem of his shirt, mouth on his, licking and nipping at his lips. When Dabi's skin is going quirk-hot with his arousal as he tangles a hand into his hair and the other is fisted in the back of his shirt as if he could pull the other man any closer. Pinned up against the hallway wall, halfway between their rooms. Hasn't chosen if he's going to pull away, go back to his room, and pretend this never happened or if he's going to let Shigaraki press him into his mattress and fuck him until he sees stars. Thinks he could because Dabi can't even remember the last time a kiss left him so breathless.
Duster's mouth leaves his, nipping along his jaw and down his throat and Dabi is trying desperately to swallow down a whine. Most people don't want to touch his scars, most of the time he's fine with that too. Most of the time he takes control because it's easier when his partners aren't asking him what they can and can't do to avoid him coming apart at the seams. But Shigaraki doesn't even blink, doesn't ask. Doesn't wait for him to choose right now. Not when he seems perfectly comfortable with taking control here, when he clearly knows exactly what he wants while Dabi is feeling completely unmoored and overwhelmed by the pull of heat between them and the knowledge that sleeping with your boss is always a bad idea. Blunt teeth are trailing lower and lower, find the place over his collarbone where healthy skin is forcibly attached to scars and he catches one of his staples between his teeth and pulls gently. Can't help it this time, can't swallow the moan fast enough at that little tug. Has him pulling on Duster more urgently. Has Duster flicking his tongue over that staple before moving to kiss him again as he pulls him away from the wall. Makes the choice for him as he pulls him towards his bedroom. Okay. Easier to go. Wants to go. Knows it's probably the wrong choice to make.
Doesn't feel wrong as Shig gets him into his room, kicks the door shut as he pushes Dabi towards his bed. He shrugs out of his coat and then has his hands on the hem of Duster's shirt. Isn't stopped as he pulls it off. Only gets a split second to be surprised by the lean muscle he finds underneath it before Shigaraki is kissing him again, backing him towards the bed. Dabi feels it hit the back of his legs and surprises himself when he tenses slightly. When this all goes from reckless and needy to being very, very real and solid in just a few seconds. Duster's hands go a little softer against his skin, presses another lighter kiss to his lips before he pulls back enough to level him with searching crimson eyes.
His voice is careful and low when he asks, "Are you sure about this, Dabi?"
Wasn't. Is now. "Come on, boss, don't tell me you're chickening out now. Promise I won't burn you if you don't dust me." Always easier to reach for bravo than anything real. Thinks... thinks based on how much softer those eyes get on him as Duster does push him back onto the bed that he's seen straight through to the real things anyway. Doesn't think he minds them though when he's bound and determined to take him apart by inches now that he has permission.
Doesn't think it's the wrong choice when he makes it again, and again, and again as he decides to stay with the League and Duster decides that they're all his and he's going to take care of them too.
///
But if Dabi thinks he hasn't had many choices in his life, it's only because he's never seen someone who hasn't had any. At least not until he meets Hawks. Meets the number two hero, the HPSC's perfect little spy, and realizes very, very quickly, that he hasn't ever gotten to pick something just for himself, something that he wanted. Or at least hasn't done it in so long that he's completely forgotten what it feels like. That he drinks the coffee that he's supposed to because he was offered a sponsorship for it and his PR people took it without caring that he doesn't like that brand, that he wears designer clothes off the clock that they picked too because they wanted him in those too. That he is personable and cheerful at every moment because that's the persona that the HPSC thought would do best on the billboards and that all of his more animal traits should be muted because those would do worse. That he should come and spy on the League because he's clever and pretty and apparently someone clocked that he and Duster both prefer men so Hawks would be the best choice for the job. And Hawks is very, very pretty. Desperate to be a honeytrap too. Because someone told him to be. Because he's never been given the choice of disobeying.
Dabi picks up on it first. He's Hawks' contact after all. He's the one who spends the most time with the hero and seeing how quickly the hero will do anything he's told makes him a little sick to his stomach. So long as whatever Dabi asks doesn't go against some other invisible order that Hawks has been given, he'll do just about anything. Takes a cigarette whenever he offers even though he can see that Hawks hates the taste and how the smell sinks into his feathers. Will readily agree to any point Dabi makes about the corruption of the system. Dabi goes so far to ask the hero to not have his wings one time they meet up, said they were too noticeable and they were going to meet a little closer to the city than usual, and Hawks had been so tense and nervous. But he did it anyway. Looked like a terrified rabbit the entire time they were talking and it made Dabi sick to his fucking stomach, especially when he'd happily offered to do it again if it would make meeting up easier for him. Wonders how much else Hawks has been forced to do because no one has ever given him the option of choosing things for himself.
He'd stopped holding the hero at arm's length after that. Told Duster what he thought the hero wanted, told him how badly broken he already was, and gotten permission to bring him around the rest of the League. Not for business. They made sure that wasn't ever being conducted anywhere he could see it. And then they'd started trying. Trying to what? Fix him? Break him more? Dabi isn't even sure, just knows that he'd brought the hero to the base and everyone else had taken one look at him and figured out that there was something so wrong and warped underneath Hawks' cheerful smiles that even they seemed more happy, healthy, and stable than he is.
Maybe it's because Duster's goal is destruction, Spinner and Compress want to root out the corrupt systems, and Twice and Toga just want to be safe and free. Maybe he's just got a soft spot for someone that pretty and that broken by becoming a hero, but they all started to try. All of them want someone as broken as Hawks to become one of them, to choose them and choose a life where he can escape all of the horrible things that made him the way he is now. Dabi sees how that is chipping away at the hero every time he comes around. How he takes the invitation to visit their base with equal parts glee and dread. Because surely this is what the HPSC wants, surely they can't hide everything from his sharp gold eyes, but when he's with them, they make him choose things for himself. Ask him what he wants to eat and don't relent until he picks something for himself, ask him what kind of movie he wants to watch during their downtime, ask him what his favorite color is, what hobbies he has. Ask him questions, make him choose. Hurts Dabi's fucking heart at how hard even making the most simple of choices are for Hawks. How when he or Shigaraki are in the room, he always looks to them to see if they have any obvious preference that he can just follow along with.
///
Really isn't surprised when one night, tangled in Duster's sheets together, his skin slowly cooling from how hot his lover forced it to creep with his knowing, demanding touches, Shig presses a kiss to his temple and murmurs, "Hawks tried to proposition me."
He hums, nuzzling closer. "Turn him down or should I be asking if you washed your sheets first?" If he has to share Duster with anyone, he doesn't think that it would be a hardship to share him with the pretty, broken hero.
"Told him no. Not until he actually wants it." Light touches along his back, tracing the line of scars and staples with fingers that could kill him in an instant. A soft kiss pressed against his hair as their words trail off into nothing. Comfortable, warm. Glad he chose this. A damn shame the hero still hasn't chosen them yet. Probably needs this softness just as much as the two of them did at the start.
///
Isn't surprised that Hawks tries for him too. Was probably told to go after the leader if he could and settle for him if he couldn't. Was just sitting on the roof with the other, wishing that he could smoke, isn't because even though Hawks has never said it, he knows he hates the smell because he always tightens his wings against his back whenever he and Twice do it around him. That they go from shooting the shit to his wings trembling slightly before he's leaning in. Isn't surprised that he's trying, but didn't really expect it right now. Doesn't pull away fast enough. Ends up with the hero's mouth pressed against his own, light and nervous. Is a little stupid and weak when he figures this is the only chance he's going to get and wraps a hand around the back of his neck. Settles their lips together more fully, but keeps it soft and gentle. Doesn't let any heat creep into the touch. Doesn't know if the little sigh against his lips is good or bad, if his wings are trembling because he's elated this is working or terrified it is. Absolutely won't take it any further until he does know. Gives Hawks the softest kiss he's ever given anyone aside from Duster. And then pulls away. Hawks tries to follow him.
"Not until you're sure you really want this, pretty bird."
Knows he doesn't when he looks so stricken and scared as Dabi lets go of him and stands. Feels a little worse now. Wonders if Hawks can even tell what he wants over what other people want for him anymore.
"We're both happy to wait until you make up your mind, dove." Adds even more carefully, "Even if you decide you don't want us. Still have a place here if you choose the League." Goes inside. Is pretty sure he hears Hawks take off a few minutes later.
///
Not surprised that Hawks doesn't come around again. Wonders if he told his keepers that he tried what they wanted and failed. Wonders if they're going to do something to him to make him more compliant, to make him do what they want. But he doesn't really have time to linger on it. Not when Duster and the rest of them are suddenly fighting one of Ujiko's monsters and then an entire fucking city, and then Shig is hurt along with Twice and Toga, and they have an army and a new base and a lot to fucking do. He still texts Hawks their new coordinates. Figures if he shows up with heroes to attack that he really won't be expecting the entire army they now have at their command. But Hawks doesn't reply, he doesn't show up, and things go on for two months.
Is not expecting a Lieutenants meeting to be interrupted by one of their grunts barging in, blood on their hands and smeared across their shirt. Dabi is smoking, on his feet, as he sees two red feathers stuck, and more vibrant that the drying smears of blood, against their clothes. Barely hears them as they say that the number two hero just crash landed on the roof, one wing nearly gone and bleeding heavily. He and Duster are immediately out of the room, rushing up to the roof. They meet some other grunts on their way down the stairs, carrying Hawks. Duster takes the hero out of their arms, lifts him easily and holds him close. The stump of one wing is bleeding, more crimson smeared across his temple and dying his blond hair dark, eyes closed with dark circles underneath them. Doesn't know if he's so pale because he's bleeding or because he's exhausted. Dabi doesn't care. Calls the doctor. Gets the three of them sent to his lab in a minute and Ujiko starts working on putting the hero back to rights as soon as Duster puts him down on the cot.
It only takes an hour. The cut on his head is messy and needs stitches, the stump of one wing needs to be wrapped, but given his past exploits seems like it will heal on its own in a few days, he needs a blood transfusion which is taken care of easily with one of Twice's doubles, and he is dehydrated and exhausted, bruised in a lot of places, but otherwise alright. Then it's just hours of him and Duster waiting for him to wake up. They put their people on high alert, but no other heroes seem to be coming, and as far as their actual hero spies can tell, Hawks is currently being listed as MIA, with rumors starting to circulate that he might have been taken hostage by the League of Villains. They wait.
Hawks eventually wakes up.
Does so with panic in his eyes, the remaining feathers of his other wing sharpening to blades immediately, eyes scanning the room rapidly for threats. Breaks something in his chest when he goes so boneless with his relief when he sees the two of them. Takes him a second, and his voice sound thin and scared when he finally asks,
"Were you serious? Can I... can I... stay?"
"Course you can, angel."
He hasn't ever heard Hawks make the shaky, avian sounds he does now. Really hopes he never has to hear them again because he's absolutely gutted from the sadness in their tone.
///
Takes a few weeks for him to heal up and Duster puts his own treatment on hold for a while. Doesn't know how long it will be, but they want to be around Hawks while he's figuring out how to function without someone holding his leash. All of the League-- yeah they rebranded but he, Twice, Spinner, Toga, Compress, and Duster will always be the League-- try to keep an eye on him. They don't give him anything to work on, just tell him to get better and then he can start trying to figure out what to do next. He keeps trying to be useful. Keeps wanting to give them whatever he can to prove that he's worth their time, that he is an asset that they should keep because he can follow orders. Takes a few weeks to start to convince him that they don't want anything from him in exchange for keeping him safe with them.
Weeks to get him to eat what he wants, to start to wear clothes the he likes, to watch things he likes or read books that interest him when they're all busy working. Weeks before he stops looking so guilty whenever he wants something. Still struggles so much with complex choices, will shut down when given too many options. They figure that out quickly enough though, start offering him smaller ones. Does he want coffee or juice? Would he rather go read with Compress between meetings or go with Toga and Spinner to practice knife work? Does he want help preening his wings or would he rather do it himself? Little things. They can work up to the bigger ones when he's ready.
Takes two months of Hawks being here before he somehow ends up on the couch between him and Duster. Before his wings tremble and fluff and there's a very pretty blush just starting to tint his cheeks pink. Dabi knows what he wants, what he'd choose to do in this moment. Knows what Shig wants too. Neither of them act on it. Won't push. Takes a while before Hawks says, very, very quietly,
"I... know what I want now."
He and Duster's eyes meet for a second, their own doubt etched into the look. He can't help but wonder if this is really what Hawks wants, or if this is just another way of him trying desperately to be useful when they've stopped every other avenue until he's better. But Shig puts a hand against the small of Hawks' back as he angles his body to face the hero and Dabi catches his chin between his fingers, makes him meet his eyes. Nervous, flushed, wings all fluffy and fluttering. Not held so tightly against his back like they were the first time.
"Are you sure about this, dove?"
"You can change your mind, we're not going to be upset. We don't want you to think you owe us anything, little bird." And their voices are both soft and careful. Sees their pretty bird swallow, hears a little coo slip out of his throat.
"I know, I'm sure." Blushes a little darker, his wings fluffing even more. "I... want you."
They don't ask again as Duster catches his lips with his own and Dabi presses his mouth to Hawks' jaw as his fingers sink into those soft, fluffy feathers.
Dabi still doesn't feel like he had much of a choice in falling in love with the two of them. Like so much of his life, it felt inevitable, like loving Tomura and Hawks was just the correct choice and that any other would lead to ruin. But he doesn't mind that. Especially not if the inevitability of him falling let Hawks really choose what he really wanted in the end. Is glad that he chose them.

Someone told will Tkk dump Jimin like a trash and lemme tell you, they may do it. I think this is what happened.
Now I highly doubt whether tkk had some sort of relationship before JK got serious with Jimin. The reason there's many tkk shippers since starting was because they were always together in older contents. You know they were young and hormonal some awkward things may have happened between them out of curiosity or experimenting. But then kept it a secret. It was later JK began falling for JM and poor JM trusted him and got into a relationship.
And Maybe that's how tkk got awkward. Imagine u hooked up with your friend and then few yrs later start dating another friend from same gang ??? Then that awkwardness went till Jimin himself took a lead to reconcile them. And it backfired him because his bf slowly started getting too much close to Tae, who he was 'extremely' close before. Since then it's lesser and lesser Jkk moments and no hanging outside of work while Tkk doing everything together, Like how they were used to do. (Tae, even today, spoke about JK unprovoked while not even uttering a word about his so called best friend Jimin, along with plethora of other tkk moments happening now ) I think they got so close to the point they started from where they stopped previously and slowly get rid of Jimin from Jk's life. Now they successfully got rid of him, tkk back together.
Remember there was a time Jimin was so sad and stressed, told he feels lonely, like his trust is broken etc? But luckily I think Jimin is strong enough to stand for himself. Not minding what Jk or tae does anymore. He's just concentrating on his work and spend most time there. I hope he don't get sad over people who didn't valued him and dumped him and find someone loves and treasures him, that's what he deserves.
I'd say I would be eagerly awaiting the next chapter in this book you've created in your head, but I have to say that I tend to actively avoid tropes like this in the romance books I do read and will immediately put the book down if it gets too far fetched into the angsty love triangles in either the romance book or romance subplot in whatever I'm reading. But you know, that's just one girls opinion. Plently of people eat up this angsty teen drama type things. So if you put a little more effort in, you could really have something here! Good luck with your future writing endeavors anon. Perhaps leave BTS out of it though, they aren't ACTUALLY characters in your angsty teen drama. But real people. Let me know if you work out some the kinks here and start actually writing. I'll be happy for you 💜
Tumblr media
My inbox could currently be submitted for psychological study purposes 😅 this one was funny though. I'm not bothering with the rest. You know, I'd be happy to talk about the tk sighting and recent times hanging out and call them cute.... if someone could do it without shading someone else, either one of the members or jkkrs or tkkrs.... like Damn. Where is the chill?

Ruminations on Social Media Platforms
Since Tumblr has decided that it Needs to Make Money and the Only Way to Make Money is to turn all users into Mindless Servants of the Algorithm, I've been thinking a lot about social media platforms.
Tbh, I'm always thinking a lot about social media platforms, it's kind of part of my field of scholarly endeavor, if you will. But I think a lot about them not in the abstract but as an active user of many of them. And Tumblr is my faaaavorite. And of course so much of what makes Tumblr my favorite is what makes it "unprofitable" or whatever. I put these words in quotes because the definition of "unprofitable" is an extremely narrow one in our capitalist society. Could a website that has allowed many people to form communities / relationships / friendships / connections with people they would otherwise never have met in ways that have vastly improved their lives really be considered unprofitable, ever? Could a website that gives people any moments of pleasure or joy or delight be considered unprofitable? Could a website that sometimes makes you think or at least give you pause be considered unprofitable?
Yeah, it's also a website that's, you know, a hellsite, but, like, it's on the internet and it's made up of people, c'est la vie.
I left Twitter when the Elon Musk thing went down, partly because in those days he was actively taunting Twitter's userbase and it felt a little like I was just on this social media platform being bullied by its owner? Idk, I didn't like it, so I decided to take a break until things calmed down. I really thought he'd get bored and sell it, so kudos to Elon Musk for not doing that. But, anyway, sometimes I think about going back to Twitter. I miss my friends there, I miss knowing what they're up to. Twitter was actually, let's face it, terrible for keeping up with people but Tweetdeck, where you could put people in chronological order and better organize things, was great for it! (As usual, the only way to make the social media platform usable was to use it in a way it wished you wouldn't.)
But I've been going back to Twitter recently to find Tourdust content and I was reminded that Twitter is just...awful. Like, it is almost impossible to have an encounter with Twitter that doesn't drag you down a rabbit hole of terrible discourse of people being awful. I fully admit this is my own fault, for clicking on things I know are going to upset me, but this is why it's better for me just to be off Twitter entirely. Twitter's functionality makes it way too easy to trace and follow outrage, and then you end up just hate-clicking deeper and deeper into these spirals. My mental health is much happier for having given up Twitter, because I'm not a strong enough person not to get sucked into all the unhealthy snippiness of the place.
The reason I've been on Twitter looking for Tourdust updates is precisely because it's better-organized than Tumblr, easier to find the stuff you want to find (in among all the other stuff you wish you wouldn't find, of course). So Tumblr's poor searchability is why I was driven to Twitter, BUT I've come to the conclusion that in a lot of ways that is a feature and not a bug. I can see the ripples of a bunch of kerfuffles that have happened in bandom recently, they lap delicately up against my dash, but by the time they get to me they're the tiniest of waves instead of a tsunami, and if I wanted to figure out what went down, it would take me actual effort. I'm sure I could do it, of course -- it's not like it's utterly impossible -- but it's not as frictionless as figuring out on Twitter. I have to make more of an active effort to go in search of the drama, it's not just RIGHT THERE blinking at me to click on it, and that makes me better able to resist it. I am at heart a lazy person, after all.
So, like, in a way Tumblr doesn't function right, and in a way Tumblr functions beautifully. It all depends on what you're using Tumblr for. And Tumblr was always my escape platform, even when I was still active on Twitter. When I was feeling anxious or sad or upset, I would scroll my Tumblr dash and it would be mindless and soothing and endless (I follow a lot of people. This is for me the key to Tumblr, but see, it all depends on how you're using Tumblr! They don't all share my interests anymore, but I don't care. I just want to sometimes not be in the shouting match that Twitter seems to devolve into so often). And so this is why I feel like it does make sense that there should always be multiple social media platforms in the world. This idea that social media platforms seem to have that they should be the ULTIMATE ONLY ONE is so harmful. Different platforms are for different things. Chill out. (Of course, this is the conquer-the-world mentality formed by capitalism. I am really worried what's going to happen when Netflix realizes it can't keep growing subscribers indefinitely because the population of the planet is finite. Does it know this? I don't think it knows this...)
I was thinking of all this not just because of Tumblr's algorithm thing but because everyone's fussing about Threads, and like, in a way I get it. Clearly I still have a need for Twitter in my life even if I'm simultaneously aware how dysfunctional it is for me. I get that everyone's still trying to find a way to replace Twitter. But first of all, I dislike Facebook as a company so intensely, like, a lot. (I refuse to call it Meta. That's how much I dislike it lol). Second of all, the fact that people seem to think it's a good thing that Threads integrates with your Instagram, I'm just like, ......imagine behaving on Twitter exactly the same way you behave on Instagram? What??? This doesn't even computer to me lol. The same platform that wants you to post photos of your kids should be integrated with the one where people are constantly just yelling at each other over nothing???? Those seem like two completely different places to me?????
Facebook is obsessed with the idea that everyone needs to be Exactly The Same on every corner of the internet, and I just do not agree with that at all. Imagine me being the same on LinkedIn as I am on Tumblr. Like, God, what a boring world that would be!! What a boring life I would be leading!! I guess some people ARE that way, and either that is awesome that they are so fully themselves at work as to just post porn they've written, or it's that they never have any interests that aren't totally aligned with work, which just...is astonishing to me.
What I REALLY think Threads is doing -- and honestly what I think Facebook essentially wants -- is to turn all of us into some curated facsimile of ourselves. I mean, all social media does that, but if you only have one facsimile of yourself, then you never have any other aspects to explore. And if you only have one facsimile of yourself, it's probably going to be the one most designed to make yourself money. Like, isn't that what everyone wants to be doing these days? Using social media to make money? I saw people talking about Threads, and every single one of them was talking about building their brand.
So in a way I am totally sympathetic to Tumblr's problem. They're right. Social media is just a way to sell us stuff now, and if they're not selling us stuff, it's a "problem." Capitalism has finally succeeded in commodifying literally every relationship we have. Literally every single one. And we kind of just let it happen, like there was no other possible way the internet could ever have been designed but to create a handful of billionaires making money off of the fact that people want to feel connected to each other. And then taking that fact and making it all about "but what's the point of connection without making me some more billions?"
Anyway. I wish things weren't like that. Tumblr still is my favorite. Who knows what happens next. Sigh.

Endeavor's and Katsuki's way of atoning
Smth that has been going on in my mind for a while now and I know I'm late to the party since the manga is way past the Endeavor agency- and the Izuku-left-UA-arc but I gotta get if off my chest.
I've read a lot of analysis about similarities but especially differences between Endeavor and Katsuki, so I won’t point them out here. I'd rather continue with smth I don't think anyone else has pointed out yet (?).
In Episode 18 of Season 5 or in the manga chapter 252 Natsuo was kidnapped by that arrow-quirk-villain and while trying to rescue his own damn son Endeavor just stopped in his ways, later explaining he was afraid that if he saved him, Natsuo wouldn't be able to speak his mind freely anymore. Like??? Okay then?? Just let him die, seems to be the better option for you, Todoroki Enji AKA No. 1 Hero. And I know some will say he had faith in the three musketeers to save the day but let me remind you that Endeavor was surprised by their improvement!! So I don't think he hesitated in a strategic or calculated way but rather in a self-centered, egoistic one. And I cannot even begin to explain how much this makes me despise Endeavor, risking Natsuo's life like that.
Whereas, remembering chapter 285, Katsuki's "body just moved on its own" when Izuku was about to get stabbed. “There were no thoughts" like – yes! Exactly! I mean, Katsuki also could have had a thought process like "If I risk my life for the nerd, he will have no choice but to forgive me for my bullying, even if I don't deserve it" or something like that. But he didn't! Because all of that doesn't matter if the person in question might be freaking dead at the end of the day!
Man, Endeavor’s behavior in that episode/chapter pisses me off for so many other reasons like telling Natsuo he doesn't want his forgiveness. Yeah well, you sure don't deserve it but it may be a start to freaking apologize, like truly apologizing – which Katsuki did btw. Katsuki too, said that he doesn't expect things to change between him and Izuku but he apologized nonetheless because that's what you do if you screwed up.
And at the end of the episode when Endeavor decides to separate himself from the rest of the household, saying this is his way of atoning and guys, I can't keep up with his bs! He's turning away from them without even properly facing them!!! When he damn well knows that Fuyumi e.g. wishes for them to be a family again. Yes, sir, your kids and one son in particular are hard on you, calling you out for your abuse – as they should! – so you just give up after only two shitty dinners??? Of course there won’t be any forgiveness after such a short period of time. And this pisses me off so much because Shoto told him that he’d like to see how he would perform as a father and yet? Endeavor runs away after a few ugly confrontations with Natsuo.
And again, smth Katsuki managed to do – he stayed close to Izuku, really trying to help him out. And yes, I know, Izuku never pushed him away, in fact, ever but still, Katsuki is really putting effort into their relationship, not needing other people pushing him into doing so. He is in fact atoning.
Endeavor is just running away, not really thinking about his family or taking them into account, not truly trying to change. He's not making it about making it up to them but rather making it about how he can punish himself. Self-centered as usual.
Sometimes I wonder if Hori did the Natsuo-Endeavor-scene exactly that way, with Katsuki listening, so that Katsuki would be inspired to be nothing like him. Especially with the parallel of both of them talking about their former behavior in front of others but with the HUGE difference of Katsuki putting Izuku first.
Well. Where was I going with this? Originally this was supposed to be a Katsuki-redemption-appreciation-post, showing in comparison to Endeavor how many things Katsuki has gotten right but it kinda ended up pointing out how Endeavor just keeps fucking shit up.
Hope you're fine with that and sorry for not including any screenshots.

Frankly, I want to send you every single emoji from that ask game for Scott, but I'm trying to practice self-restraint. How about a couple of ൠ for him?
@amistrio Thank you! Yeah, I'm kinda contemplating the merit of answering the meme unprompted or sending myself an anonymous ask or five))
Random (TAG) Scott headcanons:
- this one I really enjoyed getting traction in vaster fanon - Scott is a mathlete and a decent engineer. Not Brains or the Mechanic level, but Dad Jeff level at the very least. He was elated to be in on Dad's plans and designs of TV-21 as a teen, was definitely in on the early designs of Thunderbirds and takes active part in upgrades and diagnostics (that's pretty much canon). He can reassemble his bird in his sleep;
- Scott reads. For leisure. Actual books. The "boring" classics of the "mandatory reading list" and beyond (that's probably something I glimpsed in TOS and hold really dear). And he's well versed in poetry. It's a Mom thing for him - they read a lot together, he later read all the stories to his brothers. His AP English essays were stellar, but "Liberal arts" was never an option, not for a Jeff Tracy's son, who worshiped Dad's life path and accomplishments. So it was math, physics and avionics.
- Scott has an MBA. That Tracy Industries money gotta make themselves somehow to fund increasingly expensive IR endeavors.
- after the TV-21 fiasco (financial too), Scott offered to enlist into GDF before he turned 18 - that way he thought he could pay for college and help repay the investors, so that his college fund would go to John and Virgil and their dreams wouldn't be derailed. Dad put a halt to that (and doubled down business efforts to make sure his kids were never financially insecure again).
- This one is a bit (a lot!) darker - in a typical "golden child trauma" fashion Scott ties his self-worth firmly to merits of performance and achievement. In a situation when his father sacrificed himself to save all of humanity, Scott considers himself obliged to give nothing less to compensate humanity (and his family) for that loss - that breeds martyrdom that comes across as recklessness or workaholism on a good day and a death wish on less good days (also, pretty much canon, in so many words). He genuinely doesn't get how his family or the world would need him for just him, if he's "obviously less" than his father was (being repeatedly mistaken for his younger father's image doesn't help).
- After really hard rescues, or sometimes when the burden gets too much, Scott would dash away in One across the world to Mom's grave. Alone. John and Virgil have figured it out and know not to try and coax him back before he's ready, but keep an eye on him.
- Learning about Dad's signal from Oort Cloud nearly drove Scott insane with guilt, whereas his brothers were elated. Which piled even more guilt, because he didn't want to trump their hope. He thinks he failed by "giving up" on the search all those years ago and "moving on".
- Scott has a track record of notoriously disastrous failed relationships, which actually troubles him a lot more than he lets on. It's usually a subject of brothers' ribbing (Gordon's, mostly), but it's actually a fair bit traumatic. Through a couple of break-ups Virgil and John had to stage interventions (up to and including flying in from their colleges). On at least one occasion it was Dad. Whoever falls for a dashing flyboy/hero/billionaire with killer dimples and witty one liners, usually, don't sign up for a deeply feeling, traumatized, crazed with anxiety family man, whose brothers and life's work are his whole world. At a certain point Scott got convinced he's damaged goods and happiness/family is not in the cards. He's, of course, wrong.
- Scott was to Dad what Virgil is to him and what their Mom was to Jeff - a grounding force, a confidante and someone with unwavering faith and inspiration.
- Dropping out of Airforce early on in the career to join IR cost him most or all of his GDF friendships and it stung deeply. It stung that many openly considered him a renegade, who chose "Daddy's private 911 gig and getting kittens off trees over the real service". Regardless of Bereznik POW headcanon (the hurt, PTSD and comfort potential there is, of course, unparalleled!), I think Scott had to face A LOT of cold shoulders, after Jeff's disappearance. Whereas Colonel Tracy was revered, Tracy "dropout" Jr. was openly stared down by multiple star generals and getting IR up and running again was an uphill struggle.
- Kyrano and Lee leaving IR after Jeff hit him hard. He's lowkey sure it's because he can't measure up to Dad (and father figures don't want him). In reality it was, of course, guilt and grief of the Old Guard.
-Some time, many-many years down the line Scott is gonna run for the World President office and win.
I can go on for a loooong while (Scott is among my deeply personally favorite characters not for nothing). Maybe I'll come up with a Part 2. I'm having lots of fun (making myself sad, mostly).

Thoughts on Episode 124 (S6 E11)
Reeling reveals, devilish dancing, and brutal broadcasts. Let’s talk about it
HUGE spoilers for the episode but nothing for the manga. That said, it is wild that the contents of this episode are no longer considered a spoiler
Oh boy these Dabis sure do be dancing
I am going absolutely feral this episode was so good!
However I will do my best to stay composed
I gotta start with a nitpick just to get it off my chest. Way back in episode 1 of this season, they added a frame when Twice talks about the League that showed Dabi sitting in a chair. Many people (myself included) assumed this was a reference to his video, but the chairs were different colours (ep 1 it was blue, now it is red)?! WHAT?! WHY?! I know it’s random but it just bugs me. This season has been really good with keeping little details straight and then they do something like this. Given the fact that Dabi was wearing clothes in that scene, it is now my hc that he filmed multiple versions of this and picked the one that felt the most dramatic (must have decided that shirtless with a red chair was the way to go lol)
And I need to reiterate: that is absolutely a nitpick that in no way takes away from the rest of the episode. I just found it odd that they went through the trouble of adding such a scene to episode 1, but didn't keep it consistent
Ok anyways as for the episode itself
ueah this good
Brain happy
The first, Dabi-less half is honestly wonderful, which surprised me that they put so much effort into it
Ochako and Toga both looked gorgeous, and the tension between the two was done lovely
Then the episode switched to Endeavor and like one insanely smooth shot and this episode went from a 10 to a 10 billion
However, I’ll admit it, I kind of didn’t like the rearrangement regarding the broadcast. I loved how the manga had a little hint in the Toga section of tvs losing their signal, then the chapter starts with Rei, goes to the battlefield, and then cuts back to the broadcast
The bit with Toga made it all feel connected, like it’s happening at the same time, but it’s fine that it’s gone
I’m more disappointed by the rearrangement with Rei. It gave it a bit of build up that the anime adaptation now lacks, and honestly I was a bit taken aback by how sudden the moment popped up
I mean I guess props for showing how Endeavor must have felt lol
Upon a rewatch it doesn’t bother me nearly as much, but still. It’s probably just because I’m so used to the manga at this point
That being said, the second the monologue started all my complaints totally melted away
The voice acting! The animation! The DANCING! They really made him clap and spin around and I LOVE IT
TINY BABY TOUYA
and on that note TINY BABY FUYUMI
Any and all nitpicks I made previously are now null and void because of that scene of Fuyumi with a flower and Touya clinging to Enji’s arm
Oh man I love this episode
Also! Confirmation that the Sekoto fire was red! I’m glad they kept it, because many people were pointing out that that was likely the main reason Enji didn’t suspect Dabi
Im curious to see how they handle the soccer flashback when we eventually get there (mostly regarding hair colour lol. I want to know if they are going to give an explanation why it was red, or if they’d gonna colour it white and pretend they didn’t mess up haha)
I don’t know how I felt about Best Jeanist starting and ending it. I knew it was coming because I read the manga and had a feeling they’d sandwich the episode like this, but it almost felt like it was taking away from Dabi’s big moment
Which ha! I guess he technically was!
Still, it reminds me of the upcoming arc, which I am reluctant to think about
I don’t know what else they could have done, I just wanted Dabi to have a moment I guess (and I also wanted to forget how many cliffhangers the upcoming arc has lol)
Ooooohhhh and the ed hurt. I had a feeling they’d do a young and old Touya thing, but MAN did they do it well. Everything about it. The bright yellows to the cold blues, the big smile to the scream, oh my gosh
Anyways, overall 10/10. If you think this review sounds nitpicky it’s because there’s only so many ways I can express my absolute joy, yet it takes time to explain my grievances (however slight they may be)
I’m away for family stuff this week but you can bet that if I weren’t I would be watching this episode on constant repeat
Guess that will have to wait for next week lol

Are Endeavor stans allowed to follow you?
(I'm aware that Enji abused his family and that he is a coward, he's my favorite because I like his arc and I love your metas)
(Also for personal reasons and abusive parent promising to be better and actuslly getting better is carthartic to me)
(If you don't want to then that's fine)
Okay, first off, I don't police who follows me. I can't there's almost 3600 of you at this point, like I only look up people once they start directly interacting with me with replies on my posts or if they leave interesting tags in reblogs. It's not something I want to put my effort in - I make my writing for the fandom at large.
Second, it's not 2020 when we all looked around and saw who was rbing who and following who and posting/liking what. I was in that space for a good year and I feel sick to my stomach thinking about it and what I'd do, especially for approval. That's a really tiring way to interact with this fandom and I'm trying to have fun.
Third, I think at this point Enji's arc has developed that I understand people who are Stans of him, even if he still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Like it's not a narrative that really appeals to me, but a lot of people do want people like Enji to redeem themselves and that's why they like them. I've been friends with people who've explained that to me years ago and it didn't stop us being friends. The abusive parent getting better has always been cited to me as the main reason and like... I get that. It's not something that makes me feel better, but i get why others want it.
Fourth, I just think it's weird to go ask this shit each time. Follow who you like, unfollow who you like, etc. One of the big personal fights I got into 2020-wise (behind the scenes) was over the idea of Enji rpers being in our group spaces, and as much as I got the repulsion, it never felt right excluding them especially once I started seeing that rhetoric apply to Hawks RPers like me. I think there's interesting things about Enji and complexity there enough that there would be people who would enjoy role-playing him as much as I understand that some people are triggered by his presence. So my stance that acceptance but those who were triggered could just not interact with the character in those roleplays was seen as quite soft and not punitive of people daring to find something interesting to explore in him and I think that's indicative of how much anger and venom we all had for each other 2020-wise.
Fifth, yeah, just follow who you want to follow. If I get bothered by tags on rbs, I block or ask you to stop. That's it. It's never that complicated. We're here to have fun. I am not a serious blog.

I'm not sure how Shouto can save Dabi's heart since Dabi hates him more than he does Endeavour. I think it might be better if someone else handles Dabi.
Maybe he can build a snowman? Or an ice-slide?
Tumblr media
Just kidding...
But first of all - I don't think Touya hates Shouto - not really. He brightens up pretty much always when he sees him...
Tumblr media
I think he's jealous and finds him irritating and a frustrating brat, but I don't feel like he truly hates him as a person - or rather he only hates that "masterpiece" their father put so much attention to, but we know Shouto isn't that doll, and Touya will learn that too.
Touya's and Shouto's disconnect comes from Endeavor's decision of separating them and never letting them play, so they couldn't get to know each other beyond what they each were in Endeavor's eyes (almost perfect vs masterpiece), they couldn't work out a way to handle their conflicts, etc - not for lack of wanting.
Tumblr media
In shonen, fighting is often a proxy to fix this kind of missed connection / miscommunication. Somehow, pounding each other, letting out feelings can help mend broken connections.
Dabi vs Shouto reminds me in some ways of DvK2, where Bakugou is venting his feelings mostly about All Might and reveals how he's seen Deku through all these years as he's trying to cope with his disappointment in himself, etc. and Deku "receives his feelings" because as dysfunctional as they are, that's the only way he can be there for Bakugou in that situation.
I feel like this is what's happening in a way with Shouto and Touya too. The only way Shouto can connect right now is through the fight itself - and just soaking in Touya's feelings and maybe when the time comes, laying bare his own (he looks like he's getting there - fingers crossed).
In the end, the fact that Shouto chose to be here, when he didn't need to, listens to Touya, validates his feelings, accepts his rage, and even trained to come up with a move just for Touya - these are things that nobody did for him in such a long time, if ever. He takes the effort to understand, to get through to him, when Touya's tragedy is that people (Endeavor, AFO) gave up, thinking how he was not worth the effort.
And while it's totally just Touya's distorted perception of everything, we saw how Touya felt like everyone in the family stopped caring too - how even Natsuo told him to bug off.
So Shouto is a proxy in a way to show that his family never stopped caring about him, that they'll go the length to try to see him, understand him and save him. Back then, they were all powerless - too young (in the case of his siblings) or too broken (in the case of Rei) - but now things are different and Shouto will prove it to him.

What do you think of hawks’ thoughts on his parents and endeavor? It always confused me back at the hospital and it confuses me even more now. I was content with him supporting endeavor if the man was changing but now I don’t know what is up with them. It just looks one-sided rn and my bird deserves more than that. At least tokoyami is here 🐦
I was also fine with him supporting Endeavor. But Hawks turning into his personal cheerleader and thinking he did the wrong thing by walking away from his abusive parents did not sit well with me.
Tumblr media
We saw a hint of this (as you mentioned) back at the hospital when he thought Shōto was so cool for being the foundation that's keeping the todoroki family together.
The thing is, Hawks' parents are not living to atone. His father is most likely one of the loss inmates running the streets. His mother ran away from the opportunity she had at atonement.
So Hawks thinking he made a "clean break" seriously rubbed me the wrong way. Hawks is not responsible for his parents actions. Especially when his parents are the ones at fault here.
While Hawks does have a bad habit of putting way too much weight on his shoulders. This wasn't something I found very appropriate.
Endeavor has been the one reaching out to Shōto and the rest of his family. It is so different when the abuser is the one making an effort compared to the victim. It is because of this, I hated that Horikoshi compared the two.
They're not comparable. A victim should not feel obligated to reach out to someone who's not putting in the same effort (especially the person/people who hurt them). Then feel guilty when they didn't reach out.
I get that a major message in bnha is reaching out to others. But this was a bit too far. We're dealing with a sensitive topic of abuse.
I was really disappointed Horikoshi has started to poorly handle and use it for shock value just because he wants to get the manga over with and move on to the horror genre.

Endeavor is wracked with horror at seeing Dabi's ice, thinks it's all his fault, his hands moves in a clawing fashion away from it, Hori puts in millions of Endeavor panels in a bad graphic collage which make no logical or visual sense, and then has him think back to how he said his family can be happy (in a world) where only he doesn't exist(it's written similar to title of the manga Erased so this should be the more literal meaning) and decides the only thing he can do to atone to Dabi is take him high into the sky for them both to die together because he failed to look at Dabi. Rei showing up like in the hospital should not actually change his mind if this were following like it has been because he has reached past a breaking point. The whole chapter is about how abuser man bad and can't do anything because plot needs you to see abuse is bad and how the real heroes are victims who rise up with their true good karma. Also its more irony to rub salt on his wounds of why he didn't take an ice sidekick. Rei seemingly helping him is more like a hook Hori dangles for fans to take the wrong interpretation which will be hammered home in the next chapter that it's only about her stopping her husband's madness and wrong actions to save her children this time as she swore to Shoto in the letter to never repeat her mistakes (actions follow the words through unlike someone). The victims as Rei said really do feel genuine guilt enough to take action unlike him and step up unlike his "escapist ass". Shoto had cemented this concept in meta when he said sentiments don't count without action and Endeavor alone shows no action, only inaction and selfflagellation.
Foils and parallels are made and other injured characters doing more(Iida running 500km on land breaking Deku's record) makes his complaints about not being able to move sound like petty excuses and that he never really tried to go plus ultra most likely. Rei is awakening her quirk because of her beloved son ad even having ice vapors rise from her eyes(and Endeavor was panned for having asspulled laser eyes as a Boys reference?). As Geten paraphrases a Redestro ideology, which is the gist of Vigilantes, that regular people when allowed to are powerful as top heroes because of untapped potential. But Endeavor didn't awaken anything as if he doesn't love his son enough unlike the mother to even spark something nor had he previously made any effort to think of how to save Dabi by taking help of suitable quirked allies or even interviewing Ujiko in jail, he just has inaction and sentiments on his side and now he could only think of himself, his hero duty and suicide.
And Dabi actually awakened his Ice because of Shoto's phosphor not as Endeavor puts it near death which will be clarified as usual to be Endeavor's flawed perspective. This powerful and can do anything Himura genes and ice are keeping him alive is all because of Shoto who made the Phosphor move which has come back to keep Toya alive because of his Himura side family's genuine and unconditional love and in plot it is all to spite the abuser Endeavor by proving him wretched. Shoto is who the chapter title is a reference to(Dabi called him that in the chapter Phosphor). Rei was an all Might parallel visually in both the (probably will be shown to have been one of the kids rescued by all Might in his debut so it's ultimate ly All Might's credit once agan for saving the would be "Himura" family). The Masegaki kids are probably the ones who are repaying Shoto's niceness to them by helping his mom. In short it's back to the virtuous mom's genes were all what was right and the bad dad's genes are everything that is wrong. Even though some make jokes that the consanginuos marriage genes must have led to disabilities it's the opposite and Endeavor's bad flame is baaaad.
In fact everything is only to cement how Endeavor was bad ad wrong and unfortunately Hori has not given him much else character wise(even his backstory seems to be him having being fueled by contempt of his father's weakness). His so called atonement is too poorly written, the plot is too judgemental to be smooth, and because the goalpost just keeps being moved further from him and excused for his "fans" with small words that can be easily refuted it's not solid.
Endeavor's mess was first being cleared by Shoto in the initial Dabi fight and now it is being done so by All Might and Mom the two perfect avatars of the endgoals he had set for himself as achievable in hubris- hero and parent. His ending being attempted suicide averted like his last nemesis Ending is about all he'll get it seems.
This is a lot...and to be totally honest I don't fully understand what you're trying to say. That the story is being anti-abuse, so my opinion about how giving Touya ice is bad are wrong? That's why Enji is written the way he is? Or are you just bashing Enji's character? I'm really not sure. So, I'll just go through this point by point and give my opinion.
The whole chapter is about how abuser man bad and can't do anything because plot needs you to see abuse is bad and how the real heroes are victims who rise up with their true good karma.
I mean, I guess, maybe that could be the point but this was a stupid way of writing this entire side plot if that was the theme. It would have taken far less time and wasted pages if Hori had just left Enji an abusive asshole. That's a way better and faster way of showing abuser man as bad.
Enji not bringing an ice sidekick as a strike against him doesn't work. We haven't seen anyone but Himura's with ice Quirks. It's not like anyone has called him out on not using them either. I mean Shoto could have said something about it earlier to throw shade. We don't know if this was an option he had and refused, so he can't be facing karmic repercussions for it now.
As for Rei, I really hope Hori doesn't use her in this way. In a different post I outline why doing so would be stupid given how Hori has written Enji. Enji isn't a mad man doing wrong actions--he literally is in a position where he is incapable of doing anything else. Which is probably why you had to invent an ice sidekick he left behind, because otherwise he really is only doing what he can.
The victims as Rei said really do feel genuine guilt enough to take action unlike him and step up unlike his "escapist ass". Shoto had cemented this concept in meta when he said sentiments don't count without action and Endeavor alone shows no action, only inaction and selfflagellation.
But we see that Enji does care and feel genuine guilt. He is only barred from doing more because the plot can't have him act. We can see this easily when we think of all the times he didn't 'act'.
When he left Shoto to follow Izuku--this doesn't make sense. He can't be avoiding Dabi here. The Heroes are looking for any leads to find AfO or any of the LoV. Enji may not be with Shoto, but that doesn't mean he's not searching for Touya. It frankly wouldn't make sense if he wasn't. All the Heroes want leads and Touya would be a big one. They aren't going to just ignore Touya out in the open just because Enji doesn't want to confront him at the moment.
Fighting AfO instead of Touya--Shoto told him to do this. Sure, he might have been pissed because Enji 'ran down the clock' but as I've pointed out above the way Hori wrote it, that doesn't make sense. Either way Enji was willing to change teams and go after Touya together with Shoto, but Shoto told him to leave Touya to him. And given how the AfO fight has gone, that was the right choice. AfO has trounced all the Heroes and only Enji managed to kill him so as to put him in a situation where the Heroes can win by simply stalling.
The present Touya fight--Enji broke off from the AfO fight to deal with Touya immediately. He didn't leave it for someone else to deal with. He retreated and didn't attack Touya at all from what I could tell, and tried to talk to him. It wasn't until he was told Touya was going about to explode and take civilians and Heroes with him that he resorted to taking Touya into the sky to die together. He has zero other options and it is really the only way he can atone for what he did to Touya in that moment.
Foils and parallels are made and other injured characters doing more(Iida running 500km on land breaking Deku's record) makes his complaints about not being able to move sound like petty excuses and that he never really tried to go plus ultra most likely.
Look, I love Tenya but what he's doing pales in comparison to what Enji is/has. Tenya barely did anything during the first Touya fight. He is completely uninjured. On top of that Shoto himself is having a hard time standing or moving after his fight with Touya, where again his injuries were minor. He's just tired from using his Quirk.
Meanwhile Enji got stabled in the side, falling hundreds of feet to the ground, bled out, then got back up, lost an arm and used his biggest attack possible to kill AfO. Then when AfO revived he continued to fight him, constantly using his fire to stay in the air, until Touya showed up. From there he has been attacked by Touya which only makes his overheating body worse.
The manga clearly shows Enji's actions, particularly against AfO as plus ultra.
None of this is even true. Rei isn't awakening her Quirk. That's just her Quirk from what we know, she's just using it now. As for the Redestro ideology, it's based on Quirk superiority. Sure some regular people could possibly be as strong as Heroes if they used their Quirks all the time, but others wouldn't, and according to Redestro, those weaker people are lesser.
What would Enji even awaken that would help in this situation? He has a fire based Quirk and Hori has never shown us any different. If he suddenly had water powers or something that would a huge ass pull on Hori's part and even he doesn't generally do something that out of left field. It's not that Enji doesn't love Touya, and Rei does, it's just that Rei has a Quirk that counteracts Touya's while Enji's only makes it worse.
Again we are never shown anyone outside the family with ice powers except Geten. We don't see Enji refuse allies like, maybe Geten because he thinks he's great on his own. In fact Enji usually does use sidekicks but had them fight with Shoto to keep him safe and up the chances Shoto could stop Touya safely. If there were ice sidekicks available past characterization would suggest Enji would use them.
As for Ujiko no one knew he was involved with Dabi's survival and there was already way more pressing things the Heroes would want from him, like say AfO's location, or Quirks. What he did to Shigaraki. Honestly, Ujiko randomly telling a guard about Touya makes zero sense as it is and was clearly only put in to help flesh out Touya's backstory. Heck, even if Enji had known to ask Ujiko, the scientist didn't have any solutions anyway.
The Heroes duty stuff has always been shaky because of how dire Hori made the situation. I'm sorry but it's stupid to say Enji is choosing being a Hero over a father because he doesn't want his son's inevitable death to end up killing hundreds if not thousands of innocent people. The fact he refuses to kill Touya (something that given Touya's condition wouldn't be hard) and instead die with him so he's not alone, proves he does love him as a son.
And Dabi actually awakened his Ice because of Shoto's phosphor not as Endeavor puts it near death which will be clarified as usual to be Endeavor's flawed perspective.
This is nothing but a prediction. Nothing about Enji's perspective is flawed here, if that is even his thoughts and not a narrator. Touya is seconds from dying via explosion and his body is charred to almost just bones. Sure, Shoto's new skill might be what helped unlock Touya's ice, but from what we've been told about this world that's not something that happens, so why would Enji come to that conclusion?
This powerful and can do anything Himura genes and ice are keeping him alive is all because of Shoto who made the Phosphor move which has come back to keep Toya alive because of his Himura side family's genuine and unconditional love and in plot it is all to spite the abuser Endeavor by proving him wretched.
Maybe don't praise the horrible racist, eugenics family so much. Touya having ice that keeps him alive shouldn't be attributed to them or act like they're somehow better then Enji. They are just as bad as him, if not worse because they did this over hundreds of generations. Attribute it only to Shoto's unconditional love and Rei.
Also how does this spite Enji whose entire reason for having kids with Rei was to have this outcome. If anything it shows he was right. Enji wanted Rei's ice genes to cool of his fire genes and that's exactly what's happening. In this way it's a win for Enji.
Rei was an all Might parallel visually in both the (probably will be shown to have been one of the kids rescued by all Might in his debut so it's ultimate ly All Might's credit once agan for saving the would be "Himura" family).
I don't see these All Might parallels at all honestly. Also, what would be the point of Rei having been saved by All Might at one time. I'm sorry but why wouldn't she have told Shoto this, if this was true--would have made him like Heroes way more then just seeing an interview with All Might on TV.
In short it's back to the virtuous mom's genes were all what was right and the bad dad's genes are everything that is wrong. Even though some make jokes that the consanginuos marriage genes must have led to disabilities it's the opposite and Endeavor's bad flame is baaaad.
I'm sorry but this is just a horrible thing to say in general. People can't help what they get from their parents. This sort of thinking is harmful. Are you saying that if someone gets their abusive parents hair or eye color they got the 'bad, evil abuser' genes.
Plus, Shoto's entire thing has been learning to accept his flames regardless of how much he hated inheriting them from his father. They are a part of him and he uses them to do good. In fact his new attack you keep praising is a combo of both--it wouldn't work without fire as well as the ice.
In fact everything is only to cement how Endeavor was bad ad wrong and unfortunately Hori has not given him much else character wise(even his backstory seems to be him having being fueled by contempt of his father's weakness).
And...so what? Yeah, Enji was a bad person and was wrong. The point is that he wants to change and how he goes about it. I don't care that his backstory didn't give him some sob story.
His so called atonement is too poorly written, the plot is too judgemental to be smooth, and because the goalpost just keeps being moved further from him and excused for his "fans" with small words that can be easily refuted it's not solid.
I'm a little confused what you're getting at here. Are you saying it's badly written because it's to judgmental of him and Hori keeps moving the goal posts? Yet, you also disagree with fans of his character because everything they say in defense of him is untrue/dumb?
If you've read this far you know I don't think Hori wrote this side plot well. It has many mistakes, but I wouldn't say one is moving the goalposts. I'd say the worse is not letting him do anything, or putting him in situations where he can't make a good choice but punishing him like he had one.
I mean, Shoto didn't clean up Enji's mess, otherwise Touya would be fixed already. And AfO wasn't Enji's mess. He would have killed AfO pretty damn fast if the guy hadn't had a secret trump card. If AfO's anyone's mess he's All Might's, who has been fighting him for decades. That's why he decides to fight him regardless of being Quirkless, because he feels it's his responsibility.
Personally, I don't think Enji saw either Rei or All Might as end goals for himself at this point in the story. Dude's not confident enough at this point to think he could ever be like them. He already knows he can't make his family happy like Rei can, which is why he got them a separate house. He's barely given All Might a second thought this entire War--he's just doing his best at this point.
I wouldn't call Ending his nemesis--he appears for a chapter and Enji didn't even seem to remember him. Nor is his so called suicide attempt any where similar to Ending's. He's not asking to be killed, and I don't even think he wants to die, but Touya is going to die and he wants to be there for him like he never was before. Given Touya's state he probably could kill Touya himself rather easy and survive, but he's not going to do that, instead he's getting Touya to a safe place to explode and won't leave his side no matter what.

to add another fandom question to the list I forgot to add: what are your thoughts on endeavor and his development? if you were a todoroki yourself, how would you feel about his development as his child? you can answer this from the hypothetical perspective of being a todoroki, as a fandom question alone or both. he is honestly such a complex and real character, there's really no wrong feeling toward his character. the todorokis in general are so interesting because on either side of the spectrum (one being dabi, the other being endeavor) their entire dynamic/development is practically what trauma survivours deal with in terms of recovery etc, especially cluster bs. you have that era where you're so mad at everything and everyone, especially the people who hurt you, and so you want them dead and maybe you even work toward that reality. but then you grow and realise this harboured hatred for everything living is stopping you from ever obtaining peace or happiness in regards to anything. and you realise your unintentional abuse toward people around you, that is a result of being abused yourself growing up, are hurting those people and pushing them away from you (when the most you want is for them to be close; or to not repeat the history of your abusers—regardless of what personal philosophy or desire you were unknowingly straying away from, the reality is that you'd benefit more by recovering from the abusive coping mechanisms you've picked up for survival). so you've got dabi who's still in this mindset of setting everything around him on fire, for relevant reasons and some not. then you've got endeavor who *was* setting everything around him on fire with his blind obsession toward number one, who then realised this isn't benefitting him, his family or upholding any worthiness of being the number one at all (which is what he was doing all of this for to begin with); thus he puts effort into changing for the better. ah truly thinking about the absolute parallels in their characters puts a lot into perspective. dabi never getting the father that tried until it was too late, only fueled him with more hatred, not only toward his father but the rest of his family—namely shoto. (I might be getting some things wrong since I didn't quite reach the point in the story where dabi and endeavor verse one another and whatnot, so hopefully this is still cohesive). and of what you've shared in regards to your journey with recovery, you're like the epitome of the dabi/endeavor spectrum, so I'd love to hear your pov of their relationship and individual characters !
another read more because once again i have written like 3k words ajksdhklasdjkhaljksdhjkasdh
so ur absolutely spot on about dabi and the todoroki's being my favs. i actually kin dabi harder than i kin bakugou. like bakugou very much feels like im looking at a mirror image of myself, particularly my younger self, but like. dabi is just straight up me. it is a 1 to 1 parallel we have lived the exact same lives. i just *am* him but i agree with absolutely all of that anon and ur SO spot on and correct. like thats literally it and it makes me foam at the mouth because of how exactly right and realistic it is and how human and familiar it all feels. i think the todoroki family are honestly the standout plot of that manga and the core of this entire story can be explored thru them all of his relationships with his kids really give u the full spectrum and their reactions and relationship to him are all so realistic to what its like to live in that kind of abusive family dynamic. everyone is going to have a different postion, differnt access to power, different subjugation and punishment, different standards and consiquences, all revolving around their postion and relation to the main abuser. and so when u look at an abusive family its always going to be a spectrum of mixed and conflicting emotions and loyalties and feelings. i think this is genuinely one of the best done and best represented things in the manga
dabi is the first born son, he has all the expectations and weight and responsibility that holds and is held to the higest standerd, he is the closest to endeavor in power and thereofre has the furtherst to fall when he ultimately doesnt live up. this is why his anger and rage and frustration are the greatest. fuyumi by contrast as the only girl had absolutely zero expectations placed on her, she was immediately tossd aside and never even in the running, so she doesnt harbor the same resentment and dissapointment that dabi does. she succeeds at fuffilling her misogynistic role as a secondary caregiver and is thus left alone and escapes a majority of the direct violent abuse, thus she's the peacemaker who just wants to have a happy family. then we have natsuo, because natsuo inherents none of endeavors firepower, he is also immediately discarded and forgotten about like fuyumi. he has no expectations and is neglected rather than directly abused like dabi, but he has no secondary role to positvely fill like fuyumi and so has nowhere positive to fall back on. that coupled with him being closer to dabi and being his support network, hearing about all the abuse dabi is going thru and seeing firsthand the consiquences of endeavors actions, he's angrier than fuyumi and after dabi's death, cant just move past it like the rest of them. this resentment and anger fester and build with no outlet, leaving him the silent dissenter among their household. he, like dabi, will also never forgive endeavor, but instead of letting that anger consume him, he focuses on escaping their life altogether because for him there was always the expectation of other options, unlike dabi who viewed a normal life as failure.
and lastly shoto, who, being born a perfect balance of his parents quirks, is able to usurp power and control from endeavor as he ages and matures. meeting izuku and getting punched in the face with some therapy during their match and after that forming close healthy friendships and developing a sense of self outside his family (something dabi never has the opportunity to do) leads him down a healthier path, and he's able to come back to his family after his time away and usurp that power from endeavor. he has the ability to assert his agency and be free of the control and abuse and represents what i think could almost be called a power fantasy for most abused kids. endeavor loses both his power and therefore his control and thus shoto is the one in charge now. he gets to set the boundaries, decide when he answers and when he doesnt, he has fully succeeded in surpsassing endeavor and thus fuffills the role he was born into which gives him the power and freedom to completely eradicate it. he doesnt crave endeavors approval because he's both gotten it and grown past his need for it. shoto doesnt have the anger dabi does because shoto succeeded where dabi failed. shoto wins endeavors acknowlegement and respect, whereas dabi will always be fighting for it while never being able to achieve it
i absolutely headcanon dabi as having aspd, like it just fits so perfect and makes so much sense given everything he's been through and feels. but dabi's entire relationship with endeavor is the closest depiction ive ever seen in my life to my relationship with my dad and the dynamic within my family. my dad purposefully picked out and trapped my mother into childbirth and marriage, i was not born to his standards and despite childhood me desperately wanting and seeking his approval and acknowledgement he tossed me aside and had another son to abuse instead. i hated and resented my brother for much of my childhood and i absolutely tried to hurt him badly on multiple occasions. he represented everything i wanted but could never have, it wasnt fair and i didnt understand why nothing i ever did was good enough and i took that anger and frustration out on someone who was even more powerless than i was. which is a super common thing in abusive households and is often why abused children torture or hurt animals. as children we are powerless to take our anger and frustration out on the peope hurting us so we mimic them and take it out on someone with less power
and so i identify so much with dabi's anger and feelings of betrayal and frustration. the feelings of rejection and shame and all of the things that culminate in his emotions literally burning him alive because they get so out of control. and he never ever gets the acknowlegement he's looking for. endeavor never once acknowleges him and so dabi just burns himself out further and further, pushes himself to every extreme just trying to get absolutely anything out of endeavor. it's such a "if u wont love me i'll make u hate me because then at least u'll feel *anything* for me" mindset that i can understand so well because i felt it so deeply with my own parents. i would act out negatively to get their attention all the time because i was just so desperate for my dad to acknowlege i existed and like my dad is universally known as an asshole so there's at least that but like if i had to live in a world where ppl upheld him as a saint and a savior and there was ppl walking around with fucking merch of his face and he had fanboys i'd probably also go insane and join a terrorist organization and murder 30 innocent people and release a nationally televised manifesto outing his crimes. like dabi was genuinely so valid for that LOL
i cant even keep my mouth shut if someone calls my dad a nice guy, if he was literally up on billboards and the daily news with huge swaths of the world calling him the greatest hero alive i'd absolutely become the joker lakshdgasdklasjkd the rage i would feel would indeed be enough to melt the flesh off my bones like horikoshi was dead right with that one LOL so i really do just love and identify with their whole story and plotline. and like most other things in the manga i dont love the direction they're going with it and the answers hori is trying to give, and frankly at this point while i know narritvely it makes sense for dabi to die because he does represent a stubborn extreme that in real life is not the right ideology or way through ur abuse and so he's realistically not going to ever be able to recover or be saved at this point in the story, because the role of the healthy mindset that can and will heal is shoto, i cant pull myself up out of my own feelings for that one and be okay with it so whenever it happens its gonna be big No Talky Me I Angy hours kjahsdajklsdhjkasd
