(if you're still taking prompts!!)
Alexander Claremont-Diaz would like the record to show that he is not, in fact, a brat.
“This is slander upon my person.” His drink sloshes wildly over the edges of his cup as he gesticulates, not to anyone in particular but to the world at large. “Give me the fucking BDSM test link; I will prove it to you assholes right now, and I expect a full apology when I’m done.”
The test comes back 96% brat. Alex sulks for the rest of the night.
[Send me an ask with the first sentence of a fic and I’ll write you the next five.]

super curious about your chapter 10 notes will they be coming soon?
firstly BLESS you for asking. i tend to think of the author's notes as an extreme personal indulgence so actually love that you want em lmao
i do have some notes but was actually saving them to post chapter 10 and 11 together! so not to spam everyone more than i already do (lol). so expect a bumper AN for chapter eleven. but i do have a little bonus meta i am about to post that relates to chapter 10 so hope that will suffice for now!

You know what? Screw integrity, posting thirst traps it is! Step one: take a popular character, and put them in an apron!
(Pretty sure I’m doing it right!)

Well, I have just had a surprise. Instead of getting a deer necklace, in this playthrough I have a puma necklace. Are you able to explain what determines what necklace the Speaker receives? Are there more animal types?
the necklace is based on what your personality stats are at the time of the conversation. there are 4 different types: Deer (for "cordial" Speakers, or those with a friendly disposition), Mockingbird (for "impudent" or sarcastic Speakers), Puma (for "aloof" or quiet Speakers), and Badger (for anyone who doesn't fall into the other categories)
which type of necklace you got ultimately won't play a major role, and is just for flavor... what you choose to do with the necklace, on the other hand, could be important later on ;)

“Not if I go through all the back roads,” comes a faint voice on the other end, just as warm as her brother’s, heavy with concern that feels too intimate for her to listen in to it.
Instantly, Adriana knows who this is — someone she and Sophia tease Eddie endlessly about.
They’ve met Buck briefly, at Eddie’s probationary ceremony. His pride in her brother had been spilling from him, unabashed about the glossy tears that shone in his bright blue eyes. Adriana had noticed the way Eddie’s gaze immediately found Buck’s after Christopher, as if he would only allow himself the moment if it meant his partner could be with him in it.
And she’d noticed the way Eddie’s arms had wrapped tightly around his best friend, patting him on the back and guiding him over to Christopher, where they’d immediately fallen naturally into a conversation that had spoken volumes about this new family unit that Eddie had found himself immersed in.
There are ten years between her and Eddie. He’d enlisted just after she’d turned eight, and was gone shortly after that. Any memories she’s held onto of him are of him braiding her hair gently where her mother would yank too hard, or dropping her off at school before disappearing into the high school across the street, or her having to walk across the street to wait for him after his baseball practices to go home.
tagging @bieddiediaz @oneawkwardcookie @ao3theskyisblue and anyone who hasn’t done this yet!

Am I restarting CotL again so I can take the Pit Fight ritual instead of the Wedding and unlock that in the postgame so I can marry a tsundere cat boy without anyone else asking first? MAYBE SO.

this is a bit from a prompt fill i want to share with y'all tonight or tomorrow!!!

If one time is a happenstance and two times is a coincidence, then three times is absolutely a pattern, one Obi-Wan is sober enough to see this time around, even if he’s not quite sure how to handle it.
He’s sitting in his favorite armchair—just the slightest more plush than what used to be Qui-Gon’s favorite, though they’d gotten into many arguments about the same thing (but, since Obi-Wan is alive, he does get the last word)—and Anakin is bustling around in the kitchen.

My best conversations with my siblings happen when we’re either together for a short/pre-determined amount of time (unexpectedly on the bus together), or supposed to be somewhere else (talking in a doorway or another room, when we’re supposed to be with other people)

anyone else have multiple traumatic memories associated specifically with holidays/family vacations? because that is a topic I never see discussed in all the So You Had A Shitty Childhood, Now What? self-help books i've been reading. but for me, it was a significant thing. and the more i think about it the more it seems like this would be an (unfortunately) common experience. would be grateful to hear if this matches other peoples' experiences...
#not a shitpost#serious post#ask to tag#tw trauma#cptsd#c-ptsd#and if so we should TALK about it#because it means there are a whole group of survivors out there whose mental health regularly worsens during holidays#like i know i am most certainly not the only person who feels an undefined Dread hanging over christmas/my birthday/july 4 etc#bc too many shitty things happened during those times and now my brain is hypervigilant bc traditionally these are the Danger Times#and this seems like it would be particularly common for survivors of abusive/dysfunctional households (aka most people with c-ptsd)#because holidays/vacations typically mean 1) the whole family is together/being forced to interact#2) and undergoing external stressors e.g. travel/relatives aka 'outsiders' visiting/routines & coping mechanisms being interrupted etc#3) there is social pressure for this to be a Fun Family Bonding Experience which only highlights the cracks in the foundation#and exposes the common Everything Is Fine/We Are A Happy Family lie#4) the cognitive dissonance of feeling tired/anxious/stressed/afraid during a time when you are 'supposed' to be Making Good Memories#and then everyone is angry/tired/anxious/triggered and things boil over and something or someone goes Very Wrong#weird that i'm posting this in october when halloween is...sort of the ONLY holiday i have only good and happy feelings towards#i got lucky there#also i have positive feelings towards Labor Day but that's for socialist reasons

the injustice of the rat grinders technically playing by the rules and getting lauded for it because they have discipline and are generally Good at School vs the bad kids literally saving the world every other day and having to play catch-up to be acknowledged for it. the way that public school only caters to people who are good at "playing the game" of the education system and anyone that can't function how the school deems you should under its strict policies and conditions is tossed aside and called a failure. how are we feeling, american public school survivors?

While we're on the topic of De-aging AU's I wanna talk about Jason and Damian if Jason was 14 again real quick.
Do you guys think that Damian looks at this version of Jason, so different from the version he knows, nothing like the person he was told Jason was, and feels uncomfortably seen?
Damian was always told that Jason died because he was reckless, because he disobeyed orders, he was fired as Robin and he got himself killed. A cautionary tale, not a threat to his position. He dismisses Jason because Bruce does, because Dick does, because sometimes even Babs and Alfred do.
That's not the kid that he's looking at now. This Jason is happy, and smart, and full of love that has not yet soured into grief. He hangs on Bruce's every word, trains until his hands bleed and his body gives out to perfect the moves Bruce teaches him. He looks at Bruce with stars in his eyes and he calls him dad.
And Damian can't help but think, that this is the perfect Robin. The perfect son. And if Jason - sweet, loving, strong, Jason - can be fired, can die and have his room locked away and his pictures torn down, can have his last memory as Robin be as A Good Soldier, how could the rest of them ever compete? What could Damian do to stand a chance?
Jason will never grow out of the shadow of Robin, like the rest of them did. As long as Bruce, and Dick, and Babs, and Alfred look at him and see a dead kid who came back wrong, he will never get to be anything else. He will not get to be looked at through who he is now without the shadow of a dead boy looming over him.
And the worst part? Jason is exactly the same person he was back then. Bitter, sure, angry, justifiably, but he is still the boy with too much love in his heart and righteous fury festering in his gut. He is exactly the same boy who threw himself in front of an explosion to save his mother.
(The lines between the mother that betrayed him and the father that disgraced him are so very blurred. Fire or blade or crowbars or fists it does not matter. It ends the same way it always does because Jason Todd always dies, in every universe, in every timeline, Jason dies and crawls out only to be killed again and again and again.)
