there’s something very interesting about weiss and where she’s placed herself regarding blake and yang. all of team rwby is close, that’s obvious. but they also all have their personal dynamics within the team. she was there during yang’s semi-breakdown during volume 5 and encouraged them both in volume 6. now to have her be the one person who held blake back after yang fell was the most obvious choice.
she knows what blake and yang mean to each other. she knows blake would have jumped. she knew yang needed blake to be there for her once; blake would’ve made good on that wish this time around. and while blake and yang are protecting each other, she’s decided to protect her friends family. she wasn’t losing anyone else that day

Island Escapade [Ex-con! 2p! America x reader x Denmark] 09
Island Escapade - 09 - The Great Escape Wordcount: 3, 370 The reader is referred to as she/her.
The house was quiet save for the voice of a reporter. Mathias wasn't one to watch something as boring as the news, so he was probably dead asleep in front of the TV. If not, about to be. You appeared in the doorway, unable to help the growing smile at the sight of him nodding off. As peaceful as he looked, you couldn't let him pass out on the couch. "Don't sleep like that, or you'll ruin your neck. C'mon. You have a perfectly usable bed at your disposal."
You patted his cheek until his eyes began to flutter. He merely grumbled, unwilling. "But you’re not in the bedroom." Mathias rolled his head away and screwed his eyes shut. "Night." Never bothering to add anything else, he licked his bottom lip before drifting off again.
You sat beside him with a huff. A week had passed since he recovered, but the exhaustion was there all the same. When you put two and two together, concern washed over you all over again.
If he wasn’t excitable and bounding with energy, he was tired, burnt-out, even. It reflected his mood, which was rarely anything besides a good one. Anger he could manage, but sadness? It drained him like a vampire would suck their victims dry.
"Just because I'm not sharing a room with you." He couldn't seem to handle being alone at all. Not even when he was sleeping. "You're hopeless." Pulling his head onto your lap, he immediately buried his face into your shirt. Despite being unconscious, he took on a relaxed expression as if he knew where he was. It was exactly where he wanted to be. "I can’t keep doing this for you, Mat..."
And yet, here you were. You’d be lying if you said it was just for him.
He was pulling you in again. Getting you to put up with his shit. First, he disappeared, then fell sick. And now, the sad sap didn't need to compete for your attention. Not anymore. It seriously begged the question, what if you never shut him out? Physically, you did. For a while. But emotionally? You didn't want to think about it.
So you were stubborn. So what?
Allen had been filling out his logbook when you wandered off into the living room. Giving all the boxes a brief skim, he left his room to find you. "Looks good to me. Now I gotta get this signed off..."
When he walked out, he saw you on the couch with the dumbass Dane on your lap. He never thought much of you still caring about the guy, especially after being shipped off like that. But watching you comb a hand through his hair made it too jarring. The way you held him, looked at him.
You were still in love with him.
It made his chest ache in the subtlest of ways.
"Am I interrupting something?" He began, the voice making you freeze. The denial was glaring at this point. Allen grinned lazily when you exchanged glances with him and Mathias on your lap. Nervously. "Don't mind me. Just wonderin' if you could spare me a few and sign off my hours." Holding up his booklet at that, he waved it around for emphasis.
"Yeah, of course! Hand it over." He did as told. While you flicked through the pages, he came around to the back to wrap his arms around your neck. There, he watched on. "Let's see... Wow, your hours are coming along nicely. You'll be done with this in no time!"
He bumped his head against yours. "Couldn't do it without ya. Let's say waking up early isn't my strongest suit."
"Oh, yeah?" You ticked everything off with a smile of your own. "I can't believe it's already been three months! I don't think you'll have to stay for the whole sentence. Six months, I mean. Cuz' at this rate, you'll only need..." Your excitement for him faded. "One month." In other words, he already stayed most of his welcome. Three-quarters of it.
Allen seemed to be on the same page as you.
"One month until I'm a free man again, huh?" He took his logbook and set that aside. "And I was beginning to like it here. But nothing lasts forever, I guess." Closing his eyes at that, he joined you on the couch with a soft sigh. He never said anything after that. He didn't need to. The silence was deafening, and both of you shared the same sentiments without opening your mouths.
"I'm gonna miss you, Al." Your gaze saddened. He furrowed his brows. And he was trying to avoid the emotional aspect of it. You, however, jumped straight to it. In your defense, nothing lasts forever didn't seem to apply to you the same way it did to him. What you wanted to stay didn't. What you wanted to go away never budged. Allen and Mathias. Like Yin and Yang, they were the perfect opposites of one another.
Allen reached out to pinch your cheek affectionately.
"What do you mean? I'm still here."
You hardened your stare. "Not in a month, you won't."
He nodded slowly in defeat. Then, he responded with a low chuckle. "Always so serious, aren't you, doll? You didn't have to say it like that. We can't help what we can't change." Pulling out his phone, he directed your attention to what was on the screen. "What we can help is animal trafficking, though. What do you know? What your stupid ex did gave the Interpol good, useable intel."
Who would've thought?
After scanning the article's contents, you sucked in a gasp, completely enraptured by the news. "And you never told me? Allen, this is amazing! Oh my God, we're getting our turtles back!" The said man managed a lopsided grin to reflect your delight. While you shook Mathias awake, violently, the reporter on TV announced the news—'Lucky ferry mix up leads to animal trafficking bust'
"I figured it would find its way to you," Allen said.
Mathias groaned while he was rocked back and forth. "Guh... What... What's happening?" He croaked. An earthquake? No way. When he saw the look on your face, he snapped out of his daze. But nothing could've prepared him for what he was about to hear.
"Mat, you did it! We're getting our turtles back!" You exclaimed, pulling him into a tight hug. That wasn't enough to express the gratitude and relief surging through your system, however. "I can't believe it! You actually did something right! Not that you don't ever, but what you did was really stupid--" He shook his head in shock. Wait, did he hear you correctly? You climbed onto his lap and squeezed him again.
He must’ve. Otherwise, why would you be sitting on him? "--I'll still be mad at you for it, but at least it wasn't for nothing—!"
He returned the embrace slowly, still unable to fathom what you were saying. "Woah, woah, woah. What are you talking about? What's up?" Nevertheless, he found himself lighting up at your tone of voice. You were overjoyed, and the euphoria seemed to be targeted at him. Combined with the hug you gave him that only grew tighter and tighter, his melancholy was soon no more.
"The eggs, you idiot!" You pulled away to gleam at him. "The police found them! They must've cracked them down when you explained why you were undocumented in America!"
It finally clicked, as evident in his change in expression. "Ha! We did it, we did it!" Mathias's nostrils flared as he stood up with you in his arms. "I told you not to worry! This was always a matter for the police, kæreste," While he spun you around with great enthusiasm, you laughed at his hypocrisy. A matter for the police, he said. His stupidity never failed to amaze you. For once, it was a good kind of amazement.
"You're just lucky, Mat. I don't know why God keeps smiling at you. Just never do that again." In the heat of the moment, you kissed his cheek. Mathias widened his eyes, and after some hesitation, he leaned in to kiss your forehead. Allen looked away. This was so hard to watch. The Dane was back to murmuring something in your ear, something he couldn't pick up, but whatever it was, you didn't like it.
You were set back on the ground again. You had the choice to move away, and yet, you didn't, and instead, stayed put with your face in his chest. He coiled his arms around your form. And he was smiling, wistfully.
Allen had no idea what was going on in Mathias's head. Whether he was really the person you thought he was, he had you wrapped around his finger. He wanted to help you. He really did. But what if this was for the best? If you couldn't stay away from him, there must've been something about the guy that made him so worth forgiving.
Or was it just his insecurity talking?
Seeing you so infatuated got him rethinking what kind of person he was himself. Mathias had his life together. A successful scientist, and now, a hero. That goof was on the right side of the law. He wasn't. He was a nobody. After this sentence, he was back to job-skipping around Ibiza. And if that didn't check out, nothing was stopping him from living up to the name Mathias insisted on him.
A criminal. A bum.
So what the hell was he thinking, trying to save you from something you didn't need saving from? He was the one who needed to get his shit together. Not Mathias, not you.
The night called for celebration. With Allen's speedy progress and Mathias's lucky break, you were getting a taste of the exuberance yourself. Your work was only getting better and better. You've never felt this on track with your responsibilities. The same couldn't be said for other aspects of your life, however.
You had no idea how to act around Mathias anymore. So what did you do? You avoided him at all costs. After spending the first twenty minutes at the back of a rave, you took Allen's hand and pulled him away. When he shot you a weird look, you offered him a sheepish smile. "Just trust me. I know a better place to be!" He could barely hear your shouts over the pandemonium of EDM and a screaming crowd.
While you led him to the inside of the club, which already looked like the aftermath of a wild night, deserted and strewn with trash, he let out a low chuckle. "What's a better place to be than a party like that? This dump?" He grinned, earning a heated glare from you.
"Quit being such a smartass and follow me."
You both appeared in a separate pool room. While he skidded to a stop, he was prepared to object. "Don't have to do that when you're—" Allen trailed off as he took in his surroundings. "—dragging me." His tanned complexion took on a bright blue glow from the heated pool. Next to the huge body of water was a minibar. Behind the counter was a lone bartender, scrubbing away at a glass.
"And I thought I liked to party." He remarked in awe, turning to you with a scoff. "This is one of the coolest spots I've ever been to."
"You'd be surprised. This is the party island, after all." Allen wiped his hand down your smug face as if to smear invisible dirt all over it. "Eugh--I didn't take you to be a bad sport, Al." The man shrugged off your annoyance with a playful smirk of his own. Of course, the animosity was short-lived on your end, and you were back to pulling him around. This time, to the minibar he set his sights on.
"Just didn't think you'd be the type to... You know. Be like me. Self-indulge. I'm good at that." He took a seat on one of the stools while you ordered a round of drinks. Allen blinked. It only felt like yesterday that you chewed him out for trying to get in some beer at the fundraising party. "... But I guess everyone needs an escape."
You flashed him a tight smile. The bartender rocked his mixer back and forth, filling the backdrop with the rattling of ice and booze. "What do you know? I didn't think you'd be one to be so philosophical." He wanted to get hot-headed. But that wasn't quite right—he only thought he would. He always had a bad temperament, a bad attitude, even. Antonio could agree with him on that.
And yet, it was almost as if he didn't have an angry bone in his body. Not here he didn't. Not when you were the one giving him the jabs.
You craned your head to the side thoughtfully. "I was wrong about you, Allen." He froze up. Nevertheless, he darted his wary eyes to your tender expression to watch you speak. In that space in time, the same thought occurred between you both. Why are you looking at me like that? Why he seemed so worried all of a sudden, and why—
"Why are you looking at me like that?" He asked with a shake of the head. "Don't." Your tender gaze was no more. It was replaced by dejection. "I'm not doing this with you, doll."
You scoffed at him, defeated. "Do what? I was just trying to say I'm proud of you, Allen. You've changed. You're not so much of a—"
Allen rose a brow. "—a bum?" He cut in. "I'm sorry to disappoint you, sweetheart. I really am. But you were right about me all along." He took a long sip of whatever you ordered him. While you could only watch him do as he pleased, helplessly, he downed every last drop before slamming down the glass with a wince. "Once this is all over, I'm going back to who I used to be."
"And what's that?" You exasperated, eyes wide with grief. Before the heat blurring your vision could turn into tears, you blinked it away. "A criminal? You aren't a criminal, Al. You aren't the same as you used to be! Why the hell would I even be so close to you if you were? Use your brain, you idiot. You're just as stupid as Mathias, sometimes," His lips separated ajar at that. He was at a loss for words.
Out of all the things you could cry about, you were crying about him.
"Yeah, so my point exactly. He may be stupid, but at least he's got his shit together!" Allen sighed sharply. "And I'm probably just stupid like you said. There's nothing great about me."
Your face fell. His head was turned away, and he was showing a bitter glower. This was why he blew up? The feelings of inadequacy were always there, and it came back to haunt him like a ghost now that his sentence was drawing to an end. No wonder he was so closed off in the afternoon. He wanted to stop thinking about his own life. With you around, he was hard-working, playful, and sensitive.
But by himself, he was nothing. Without this community service, which was more of a getaway than anything, a ruse, even, he had nothing to try for. So he had everything to lose himself in. Drinking, partying, and getting handsy with random chicks, whatever it needed to feel alive.
"If there's nothing great about you, why am I here?" You began in a faint murmur. "I wanted to hang out with you, Al."
Allen hung his head. "Don't start with me. Don't do this to me."
Now, he wasn't exactly a poet, but what he really meant to say was this—don't give me hope. Don't make me try to be a better person. It was so much easier to stay where he was, here at the bottom of the world, all because he couldn't get any lower.
You shook your head stubbornly. "I do what I want. I pick my own friends. If I like you, then that's my business."
"Well, that's the problem, doll. I don't think you just like me." He admitted, fully expecting mortification on your end. Much to his surprise, your steely gaze on him remained unfaltering. Hell, it even looked like you were beckoning him to continue. "If I could, I'd snatch your pretty little ass away from that Danish douchebag the second I had the chance."
Okay, now that got your face lighting up. All until it looked like Christmas at the Vatican. The blush was setting in, and it seemed like you had your ears peeled for what was next. "Then why don't you? I'm right here." It was Allen's turn to get flustered, but the feeling was short-lived when he saw how you looked at him. There was untold sadness behind your eyes. Even tiredness. Dread.
He finally understood why you were so on board with him. Why you liked him so much, and why you wanted him to see himself the way you saw him.
"I can't keep doing this. With Mathias. One of these days, I'm gonna make a mistake I'll really regret." You urged, reaching out to squeeze his wrist. "I need you to help me get him out of my house. I can't think with him around." That was right. He'd been drawing you in again, just like every other time you had an argument and decided to shut him out. But this had to stop, at least for a little while.
"Promise me you'll do that before you leave."
Allen nodded, albeit reluctantly. He didn't know what you were planning, but at least it didn't exactly involve him. "Sure. But what's the plan after that, boss? You're not gonna bootycall me the second he goes, are you? I hope you don't."
You shot him a heated glare. "No, you dingus. I just need some time to think."
He closed his eyes contentedly. This conversation ended on a happier note than he expected. "Yeah, okay. Whatever you say." Allen laughed when you slapped his shoulder. He then opened his eyes to stare at you through his eyebrows. "But I'm still not taking it back. I'm a criminal, dollface. It's a mindset, not a state of being. I don't have money. I don't have shit. So one of these days, I could get desperate."
He leaned in forebodingly. "I could steal stuff. Rob a bank. Who the fuck knows. So keep that in mind when you do your thinking. I'm not good enough for you, babe. He is."
You were fuming through your nostrils at this point. Humoring him on his fragile self-esteem was one thing, but once it involved you, the line had to be drawn. Especially when he was talking about Mathias like the Mr. Right he very much wasn't. "Take that back." He turned away to ignore you. "Fuck you, Al. I thought you of all people would know how he can be. But I guess you're not done brooding about yourself."
Reaching out to your untouched glass, you gulped down the contents knowing damn well you couldn't handle your alcohol. You slammed it down when you were done, alerting Allen to spin your way. Well, I'll be damned, he thought. You had some attitude yourself. "You're a better person than you think you are. You're everything I could ask for in someone I could trust."
He couldn't believe it, but he was letting you get to him. Allen swore an oath he'd try everything he could to keep that asshat in check. It was the least he could do as a friend. That determination waxed and waned for a while, but it was finally coming back as he listened to you speak.
"You're everything he isn't."
That also begged the question—why did you hate the idea of getting back with Mathias so much? Besides his persistence, entitlement, and everything in between, something major must've gone down.
And Allen had a feeling he was about to find out what.

a better person when i have you here
Yang wakes up to a hellscape of white arms reaching and bleeding black ichor, screaming faces of a finally dead woman, and so much fire.
This was written for @rwbyrarepairweek for today’s Dreams/Nightmares prompt. This takes place years after Volume 8, and the title comes from Mary Lambert’s “So Far Away”
AO3
FFN
Yang woke up in the middle of the night. Darn. She knew she shouldn’t have drunk that soda before bed. She groaned. She didn’t want to get up, but she had to.
Yang opened her eyes. The sight she saw was its own version of hell. White arms reaching and bleeding black ichor, screaming faces of a finally dead woman older than the shattered moon, and so much fire. All of it was a reminder that just because Salem had been defeated nine years ago, her evil would haunt Remnant for a long time, and healing wasn’t a linear journey.
Slowly, Yang felt her way through the hellscape, patting her way along the bed. That was one thing Emerald’s semblance had never evolved to cover. She could trick anyone with sound and sight, but touch was something grounding. Touch was a tool Yang used when she still saw Adam and his blade at the corners of her vision, when she still heard his taunts and the sounds of terrified, screaming classmates as Beacon was destroyed by Grimm and the White Fang.
Eventually, Yang’s fingers made their way to her wife’s tense and shaking body. Red eyes snapped open as the illusions disappeared. In the same moment, Emerald darted away, breathing heavily.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay,” Yang soothed. “You’re okay, it’s okay. You were having a nightmare. Salem and Cinder again.”
“How did you…” Emerald’s face fell as her breathing slowed. “I’m sorry.”
Before they started dating, back when being allies was a strange and tenuous thing, Emerald had vowed she would never use her semblance to trick Yang again. In fact, if at all possible she would shield Yang from any and every illusion. Back then, in Yang’s mind it hadn’t made up for how Emerald and Mercury ruined Yang’s name at the Vytal tournament, but it had been a crucial first step.
“Hey, it’s not your fault. You didn’t mean to, and you wouldn’t do it if you weren’t having a nightmare.”
Emerald was silent, and if it weren’t for Yang’s enhanced darkvision she probably would have thought Emerald had gone back to sleep without moving. It was a trait Yang had picked up after she had fallen from the bridge to Vacuo. It was also one of the more mundane traits, compared to the slit pupils that were probably dilated due to the darkness and the wings she didn’t always wear.
“They killed you,” Emerald eventually said into the darkness of their bedroom. “In my nightmare, they killed you.”
“Oh, honey.” Yang shifted so that she could take her wife’s hand. It was at moments like these that Yang wondered if she should sacrifice some of her comfort and wear her prosthetic to bed, just so she could hold Emerald’s hand and stroke her face in a comforting manner.
“I’m okay,” Yang continued as she rubbed circles into Emerald’s hand. “I’m okay, you’re okay. They’re dead and gone and won’t hurt us ever again.”
Slowly, Emerald’s breathing returned to normal, but she showed no signs of going back to sleep any time soon. And as much as Yang wouldn’t have minded cuddling her wife until dawn broke and cast away the last vestiges of nightmare, she had more immediately pressing matters to attend to. But she could do something else known to comfort people from nightmares.
Yang stood up and stretched before grabbing her prosthetic and scaled shawl from the nightstand. “I’m going to the bathroom; do you want me to get you anything on the way back? Water? Milk? Hot chocolate?”
A/N: I borrowed the idea of Yang becoming a dragon hybrid post-volume 8 from @aspiringwarriorlibrarian’s headcanon here

Revving up
It was a stormy day in Patch, typical for this time of year. Storm clouds rolling over heads and thick mud under their feet. Normal people would stay inside to avoid such messy weather. Jaune Arc unfortunately wasn’t in the category known as normal people, or at least his family wasn’t. The man walked down a dirt road in a drenched rain coat with a tightly sealed boxed lunch. Each muddy foot step brought him closer to bright white-ish flames that blazed a little ways away. Being a supportive father wasn’t that hard of a job, but he really wished his darling daughter Yujin wouldn’t get such insane ideas on how to train. Preparing for Beacon entrance exams was important, but using a downpour as an excuse to push her limits with fire moves was ridiculous! Jaune was thankful though. At least he was walking to a warm place. A lucky game of Rock Paper Scissors sent Tai in the opposite direction towards endless lightning strikes. Dealing with Tenzen while wearing armor was not a thing Jaune wanted to go through, again.
Finally, Jaune reached the area where cracklings flames and the heat was the most intense. “Yujin has to be somewhere over here. With this much fire she has to be having a ball fighting something.”
“Woooohooo! Come and get some!!!” Yujin shouted from several feet away, the loud noise of roaring coming from behind some shrubbery.
“Called it.” Jaune poked his head through to find a forest clearing transformed into what looked like a gladiator arena set on fire from a fierce battle. In the middle was the girl of the hour herself, and she wasn’t alone. Five huge Ursas circled her among countless disappearing smaller grimm of various types. Immense steam radiated off of her glowing hair and sword that was set ablaze. Even her trench coat sizzled the water off of her body except for the drops that made contact with her face. Yujin didn’t look worried about her odds. In fact, she was smiling the same way Yang did in a fight like this. Right now, Yujin was in her element.
“None of you want to pounce? Fine, guess I will!” Yujin unleashes a circle of flames with a spin attack to ignite the beasts’ fur. She then ran directly to the one in front of her. “I’ll start with you!” The Ursa rose up on its hind legs to slash her but Yujin stabbed Tempered Steel right into the paw. She then slid it through its arm as the sword remained ablazed, going all the way up the body then finally out through the shoulder; a short lived moment of freedom for the Ursa before Yujin’s blade took its head off. The entire body seemed to burn away by the pale flames. The ground began to shake as the second Ursa charge at incredible speed. Yujin turned around to see it was already lunging at her, it’s mouth wide open to crunch down on her entire body. Long, sharp teeth tried to force their way through tender flesh, but didn’t. It couldn’t. Instead, the predator's teeth cracked and crumbled, causing the Ursa to reel back in pain.
Jaune nearly had a heart attack for a second watching it happen. For years, Jaune tried to get Yujin to learn to use a shield but it never took. Who would’ve thought her semblance would’ve fixed that by numbing and fortifying Yujin’s body? Now she was the shield herself! To top it all off, the transition from blue eye to lilac was beyond heartwarming to him.
Yujin put the Ursa straight out of its misery taking her blade and stabbing straight down into the skull. The added weight in this form was still a little off putting to her but man did it do a great job to adding more umph to her attacks. The remaining three took a different approach from their fallen brethren by attacking all at once, charging from three different sides. “Teamwork? That’s new” Tempered Steel’s blade retracted into its hilt then split in half. Each band of metal wrapped around her wrist that she flexed to engage them. Gauntlet time. Yujin took her right fist and punched straight down into the ground. An infusion of her aura and fire dust erupt up like geysers of flames. One Ursa was unfortunate enough to be right on top of them, getting a whole burned right through its body. The second one was trapped by the ground caving in by the impact and the grimm’s weight. The third was unaffected and kept barreling toward Yujin. The girl quickly acted to dispose of the trapped one before its backup came. She ran it with her semblance off to get as much speed as possible before leaping into the air over it. Yujin did one midair front flip to position herself directly with her right leg raised to the sky for an axe kick. The reactivation of her semblance sent her falling like a brick, plunging her heel right into the Ursas face.
The impact kicked up debris and the loud snap Jaune heard made it clear that Ursa’s bone armor stood no chance. He watched Yujin roll out of her attack towards the final grimm and spring upwards into an uppercut that launched her opponent sky high with her. Yujin then set off a flurry of blows to the exposed underside to keep it juggled in the air higher, then grabbed it. Yujin rotated it to be on its back as it fell. She used it as a platform to jump higher while sending it crashing to the ground like a meteor.
From above, Yujin clicked her wrist together, reconnecting the metal bands back into a hilt. The blade reappeared in all it’s glory. The metal reignited as Yujin spun downward in a pinwheel of flames that was aiming right at the Ursa. A combo attack that perfectly drew from the skills and fighting styles of both her parents. If it wasn’t for the roaring of the grimm and flames, Jaune might’ve been bales to hear the words his daughter uttered as she went in for the kill.
“Dragonslayer…”
The attack landed right on the mark and the biggest pillar of flames yet was created, shooting upwards past the trees. The spin on the move didn’t just add force. It was to get out of the blast zone. The attack ricocheted off the ground and a rapidly spinning Yujin was hurled to safety. Another midair flip set her upright and sliding backwards on her feet and one hand. Just like that, no more grimm. Yujin stood up and let out a sigh while her hair and sword finally flickered out. That was rough! She was tired and her ribs hurt from the bite she was now completely feeling. “Phew! Talk about a workout!” She boasted.
“I’ll say!” Jaune chimed in, revealing his position to her. “You were literally on fire. If that isn’t entrance exam worthy then I don’t know what is.”
A red blush of embarrassment came over the young girl. If she knew she didn’t realize her dad was watching at all! She started scratching her head. “Oh, you saw all that? Like...all of it.” Her father happily nodded. Yujin started to laugh nervously. “Wow, really glad it wasn’t the attempt where I spun out like a race car.”
“Is that why there’s all this extra fire?”
“That’s why there’s still flames burning in general! I was trying a few things out and missed a lot, like, a lot. Really glad it’s the rainy season and all the way out here.” For once, being a country girl with plenty of unclaimed land was rewarding. Yujin noticed the box in her dad’s hands and extended her own. “Food?”
“Yes fatty, food. But how about we call it for now and you eat at home? Food tastes better dry.”
“Hmmm, fair point. Not really comfortable with leaving this fire though. The flames contain them but a few I actually have to put-” Jaune handed Yujin her lunch and pulled out Crocea Mor. Yujin watched him point the sword to the sky as his aura ran through it to make it glow white. Jaune jumped back and slashed the air horizontally. A strong pressure came of the attack that swept the area and snuffed out the flames. Yujin was more than a little shocked as she finished her sentence. “Out…”
Jaune put his sword away and took back the lunch to keep it as dry as possible. “Okay, let’s go! I’m sure your grandpa is trying to get Tenzen to come back too. We’ll all eat together.”
Yujin slowly started moving, still amazed by her dad. Now she had a goal beyond exam training. Next time, she’ll make her flames harder to snuff.
xxxx
On the other side of the forest was an equally impressive light show. A full pack of beowulves howled to the shattered moon in constant agony as electricity ran through their veins; their body wrapped in orange and pink aura. Tai followed the wispy flow of it all the way back to its source, Tenzen. The boy stood on a tree limb, his eyes a semblance activated orange with pink hair dripping wet. His body was crackling with lightning of the same color. Tenzen’s right hand clenched tight and he raised in the air. The sound of thunder started growing louder and the energy in the air started to build. Tai wasn’t sure why, but he felt like he should say something before Tenzen continued.
“Uuuuummmmm, Tenzen?”
The boy looked down to see Tai on the ground. Tenzen’s eyes got really big with concern that didn’t make Tai feel safe. Good, because he definitely wasn’t. Being on the ground was the last place Tai needed to be. “Mr. Xiao Long!? Uhh, why are you here!?”
“Is that really the thing we should be talking about right now!?” He shouted. The sight of Tenzen’s hand sparking wasn’t a calming sight. “Do I need to move-”
A flash of lightning came crashing down on Tenzen. The massive strike traveled around him, changing to the color of his aura as it raised down the tree. Each trapped grimm was immediately fried as the volts went through his aura. Tai barely saw the attack coming at him. He jumped up as high as he could in an attempt to avoid it.
“Hey, Catch!” Tenzen said, pulling out his father’s dagger and throwing it at the tree near Tai.
It was fortunately in range for Tai to grab and he stabbed the tree in order to hang safely out of reach from the light show happening on the floor. “Phew! Thanks kid.”
“I’m sorry!” Tenzen frantically said as he bowed. “I should've told you what kind of training I was doing!”
Tai laughed and waved off the apology. “It’s fine.” He couldn’t help but notice the slight burns on Tenzen’s hand. His eyes and hair turned back to their normal color and he hunched over. The lightning finally stopped and Tai dropped to the ground. “You okay?”
Tenzen hopped down and stumbled forward. “Just a little crispy.” He noticed the boxed lunch. “I hope whatever is in that is also crispy?”
“Hehe, why don’t we go back to the house and find out? I bet Jaune and Yujin will be there.”
Tenzen smiled and nodded. “Then What are we waiting for? Let’s mosey on over!” He said, marching with renewed energy.
Tai didn’t bother to mention how beaten up Tenzen actually looked. Oh well, Yujin will definitely get on him about it. Yes indeed, just another rainy day in Patch. However, not once did the budding heroes and guardians think it possible of a storm outside of their own. Far far away, another storm downpoured with its own hero taking their steps to greatness.
xxxx
No matter how harsh the weather, Menagerie would always have it harshest. The raindrops were heavy and unrelenting on the desert plains. Wind howled and blew fast enough to cut skin. Sand was turned to mud. Paradise turned into a natural disaster, and yet despite all that, Jael remained untouched. The Oasis itself was untouched. A pocket of relief shot through the storm towards the dazzling star scattered sky, shining down on the peaceful blade. The moon light radiated Jael’s poised blade and glistening body as three tiered warriors stood before her. A less than energetic Sun Wukong breathed heavily with gun-chucks tightly in hand on Jael’s left. The warrior on the right was none other than her own sister, Sienna, who let fatigue finally overcome her knees, dropping to the ground. Blake Belladonna stood in the middle proudly. Even she was catching her breath as her gun was trained on Jael and the many drops of water that orbited around her.
Jacquelyn watched from the roof, analyzing everything. The way Jael's hand shook, the struggling rise and fall of her chest as her weak heart tried its best to beat normally. Most importantly, the absolute cold stare in her eyes that fixated itself on Gamble Shroud. It had to be at least four hours since training started. Any longer and Jael was liable to drop dead. But she trained anyway. One more go around. One more try. Extreme conditioning for a person with an extreme condition. Jael loved it, craved it. She was going to be the best no matter what.
“Close it…” she uttered to her mother. Jacquelyn reaches at the hole in the sky and closes her fit in tandem with the clouds that made the eye of the storm. Light once again dwindled slowly into nothing, Illuminating faunus eyes in a world where the only sense that mattered was instinct. Darkness came once again with the promise of a rageful storm to dull all senses. And the sound of raining bullets. Yes, another day of training.

Can we get a fic where Alex kisses Jo after the donuts scene in s9? It’s obvious that this was the moment he fell for her and I’d like to see what would’ve happened if he would’ve went for it
the one with the doughnuts
Here’s a short little AU one-shot of Alex and Jo’s supply closet moment
This fic was written by Nat, @odd-birds-and-booksellers and @iamtrebleclefstories
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Hey, so I know you keep saying that you and Wilson aren’t a thing-”
“Because we’re not,” Alex interrupted as he walked to Meredith at one of the nurses stations. All day long she and the rest of his friends had been pestering him about his newfound friendship with the young intern.
Meredith rolled her eyes, “Well, maybe you should be.” Alex turned to look at Meredith as her face twitched in a small smile. “She kind of kicked ass today. Just saying.”
Alex watched as Meredith left, thinking about what she said. It wasn’t the first time he considered it, to be completely honest. Jo was hot. Alex recognized that immediately after he saw her for the first time. But she was his friend. She was someone who understood him unlike very many other people could, and he didn’t want to risk losing that.
Almost as if the universe were taunting him, Jo came up beside him and grabbed his hand, “Come on.”
“Come on where?” he asked.
“Just… come on.”
Jo pulled Alex into a supply closet, closing the door behind them. Alex furrowed his brows, “What are we doing here?”
Jo let out a breath, “Just wait.”
She walked from behind one of the racks with a pink box in her hands and opened it to reveal doughnuts, “I stole it from the nurses in derm. They won’t eat them anyway. They’re all ‘no sugar and gluten free.’”
Alex stared curiously at her as she handed him a doughnut, “Cheers. To an incredible day. You deserve it. Actually, I helped too, so cheers to us.”
He watched as she took a bite of her doughnut and felt like the air had been knocked out of his lungs. He was seeing her, truly seeing her for the first time. A soft expression graced Alex’s face. He didn’t think he could look away if he tried.
“It’s powdered sugar. It’s your favorite,” Jo said as she chewed on her doughnut, the white powder staining the corners of her mouth.
“Yeah, no. This is great,” Alex snapped out of his trance. “Thanks.”
Alex continued to look at Jo with a strange expression on his face. She must’ve noticed because she looked at him in question, “What?”
“Nothing…” he shrugged and took a bite out of his doughnut.
Alex could feel his heart thumping in his chest as Meredith's words played on repeat. Maybe you should be. He couldn’t ignore the way they seemed to fit so seamlessly together…trust me he tried.
“Jo” he called her attention, making her look up from the box of donuts she had just put down before wiping her fingers with a napkin.
“What?” she smiled at him, dropping the piece of paper inside the box carelessly.
Alex noticed how her eyes were sparkling. She had gone through a lot of pain in her life, and there was a lot he had yet to learn about her, but he couldn’t help but notice how her eyes were always sparkling in spite of it all. She looked so gorgeous, even on a normal workday wearing graceless scrubs. Alex was drunk on Jo, so he decided to take a leap of faith. What if it all worked out in the end? What if she ended up being the one for him? No woman had ever made him feel the way Jo did, and he wasn’t willing to waste another minute waiting to find out.
Wrapping his arms around her waist, Alex quickly pulled Jo closer to his body, forcing the space between them to disappear. There was no way to deny it now. With his other hand, he gently ran his fingers over her lips, wiping away the powdered sugar from the corner of her mouth. With the slightest crooked smile, Alex gave Jo a small nod, as if he was asking for her permission to take the next step he was so eager to take.
Jo smiled back at him, soon feeling his lips touch hers. She’d thought about this more than she’d like to admit. For weeks, all she could think of was Alex. She told herself that she was a fool to keep daydreaming about the day that Alex would look at her like she was something more than the young intern who crashed on his couch occasionally. For about a second last night when they were making noises up at Yang and Hunt from the kitchen, she thought he’d go for it. But they were interrupted by Jackson and Stephanie.
Jo sighed into the kiss and buried her hands in his hair, pulling him closer and prolonging the moment. She felt Alex grin and laugh against her lips as they finally separated. She opened her eyes and saw that Alex had a dopey smile on his face. Jo giggled, “You okay there?”
“Never better,” Alex bit his lip and looked at her for a moment. “I think I’m falling in love with you.”
Jo felt her breath hitch in the back of her throat, “Really?”
“Yeah,” Alex nodded. He took a deep breath. “I know we work great as friends. You get me like no one else does. And I know that taking this further could mess things up, but I don’t want to just be friends with you. I want more, if you’re up for it.”
“Yes,” Jo’s eyes shined with excitement. “I want more, too.”
Alex smiled brightly and leaned in to kiss her again, “You know, doughnuts taste much better this way.”
“I have to agree with you on that one.”

Feast spoilers
Okay so here begins all my thoughts and feelings on the newest ep, from start to finish. I need to get them out there. This is just like what I did for “Ladybug”- I won’t be doing these for all the episodes, only the ones that really get my mind running.
Tumblr media
First things first, we get a shot of Nathalie right in the beginning, right in the center of the screen- and Jagged stone is right there. I guess that’s a tidbit of fuel for all the Jagged x Nathalie shippers out there.
“The highest mountain tops of tibet”
Me: Tibet? That’s where Gabriel and Emilie got their miraculous.
Tumblr media
Okay so Alya is a BOMB reporter, okay, she’s awesome. But did it not cross her mind that this could potentially help Hawkmoth too? He undoubtedly follows the Ladyblog. If you’re going to go to these lengths, then do not publish what you have found online. Wait until you next find Ladybug and Chat Noir on patrol- THEN you can publish them for the public to see AFTER Hawkmoth has been defeated.
“Until for some unknown reason they disappeared, and the world forgot about them” I feel like there’s a little more to that line than meets the eye- because yes, sure, Master Fu did some funky ish when he was young and it’s been 200 years since they were last heard of, however, even in 200 years you would think there would be some historical documents or something speaking of these mysterious supers that just come and go. Just...something, you know? I feel like there might have been effort to wipe out the memory of the miraculous by someone. Or maybe Im just looking to far into something that’s already been explained.
Tumblr media
I wonder how this lady treated Nooroo. She looks so graceful- is that her while transformed? If so I gotta say I much prefer her simple transformation to Hawkmoth’s. I dunno, I just really like this. Being able to see some of Nooroo and Plagg and Tikki’s previous holders being memorialized. I wonder if they ever have the urge to go visit museums where their previous masters are displayed- I wonder if they miss them. Or talk about them.
“Hercules, or, lion miraculous holder?”
Me at first: Lion miraculous? Well there’s a tiger but I think that’s a longshot-
Fu later on: The sentimonster ate other miraculous boxes
Me: o h.
Alix: Why not a bunny miraculous while you’re at it
Me: You did not just.
Tumblr media
There’s an app for everything these days, isn’t there?
Tumblr media
She’s ready for her close-up!
Seriously though, I love how she has become a more prominent character and actually gets shots like this.
Also, why did she not sense the amok until she saw the statue? Does the peacock miraculous harm the wearer even if not transformed (I ask because of her reaction)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bye bye little butterfly
Also, I love her shoes now that we have a close-up of them.
Tumblr media
Jagged looks a bit concerned- but look at Adrien
Tumblr media
This poor child, he doesn’t even hesitate to jump to her aid. He loves her so much.
Tumblr media
And the way she speaks to him here, she sounds motherly. “It’s nothing, Adrien” I think this is the first time we’ve seen them have any kind of intimate mother/son physical contact too.
And he is immediately done- he just wants her to get home where she can relax. He’s so concerned for his step-mom, it’s going to break him when he finds out who she is. Snap him right in half like a glow-stick.
Tumblr media
is he holding her arm?
Tumblr media
“I never should have entrusted her with the miraculous” She’s actually having doubts about trusting her best friend. I’ve been there honey.
Tumblr media
Oof, Fu looks so terrified. And also kinda like a chipmunk.
“Alya is an excellent journalist. Sooner or later she would have discovered this secret kept under wraps for centuries” I can’t tell if he was throwing shade or not.
Tumblr media
So basically, Master Fu was taken from his home from a young age by a bunch of monks saying he was chosen for a very important job. They but him through rigorous tests to train him into being a capable guardian for the miraculous and as a result of starving a sad young boy the temple got burned down. Sounds almost like they deserved it tbh.
Also, Master Fu’s sentimonster had free will too- it had its akumatized object in one of the safest places it could have put it. It had free will like sentibug- but it was created to consume miraculous. No matter what, even if Ladybug had felt at this moment that the creature was a real living being (which it seemed just as alive as Sentibug) she would have had to have destroyed it. The difference is that THIS sentimonster was out of control, because it was made from the grief of a starving child. Sentibug was made out of love and loyalty. She didn’t have that underlying meaning of creation that led her to destroy. But this one, when given free will, did, because it was made from destructive emotions.
Tumblr media
Yin and yang play such a huge role in symbolism with the miraculous. Im kinda glad I chose my OC’s miraculous to be yin & yang.
Tumblr media
This is also how I feel when I am hungry.
“I created a sentimonster that was very different from the one I had envisions” does that mean that the sentimonsters can latch on to whatever their creators are feeling at the moment and form around them EVEN if they didn’t intend to use the particular feeling or emotion to fuel it? Could that be part of why Sentibug turned on Mayura- she was having doubts while creating her because she knew Gabriel would have never let this happen, that she needed to stop- but she just couldn’t bring herself to? And those feelings got ingrained into Sentibug too, and when Sentibug heard “Stop Mayura and take her miraculous” those doubts resurfaced and took form as it seeming for Sentibug to have a sense of justice?
“A monk told me to run away with....and the miraculous box. The very last miraculous box.”
There are other miraculous.
So judging from the pictures and Fus story, he lost the book and two miraculous not to very far away from the temple- which means that Gabriel and Emilie travelled to one of the highest mountain-tops in Tibet. What on Earth could have made them go up there? That’s not just some sort of vacation spot.
Tumblr media
Look at this honeybun. Poor girl- it looks like her head’s hurting.
Tumblr media
Adrien seems so concerned for her- and now we know that he knows that she’s sick. I had suspected as such, because it would be very difficult to hide it because of how much time they spend together- but honestly this is just heartbreaking.
Tumblr media
“It’s thoughtful of you to be concerned, Adrien”
Of course he’s concerned. You’ve been around so long he probably can’t imagine life without you, you’re the one that’s been there ever since his mother disappeared, he loves you like you’re family. An empathetic and caring young boy isn’t just going to look at someone like you while sick and not get concerned.
“Nathalie sometimes get’s dizzy spells but it’s nothing serious” Nooo Gabriel, I get dizzy spells that are nothing serious (I’ve been to the doctor for them don’t worry), I understand wanting to protect Adrien but one of these days she’s going to disappear too, and what then?
Tumblr media
And this scene? They had a moment. He said that he didn’t need to worry, but I think he saw right through what he said, and maybe even that he was a little worried himself. The way he’s holding his eyes, he looks a little bit concerned too.
Tumblr media
And if you ask me, they do not look happy about lying to him. Because he should be worried. But they don’t want to put that on his shoulders- plus if they told him the truth...yeah.
Tumblr media
Okay so let me get this straight- now, Mayura did not create any sentimonsters in this episode, but she did wake up one that was dormant. How does a sentimonster go dormant? Considering there has been a sentimonster lingering out there dormant, we know for a fact that multiple sentimonsters can exist at one time- however, can two exist and be active at the same time, or does one have to be dormant in order for others to exist after the dormant one was created? And how did she sense the amok- was it the same way in which Gabriel sense emotions through his miraculous? And if that is the case, then does she need her miraculous to sense the amok? If so, where is she wearing it at right now? Also look at her, she’s so cute from this angle- just look at her eyes, they’re so gorgeous. That shade of blue is lovely.
Tumblr media
Don’t look concerned about her, Gabriel, you’re the one telling her to use the miraculous...okay yes, actually, do look concerned for her, feel guilty and take it away (I know you will, eventually, but will you honour that commitment in the finale?)
Tumblr media
Look at that smile
Tumblr media
This poor kid...he’s got everything in the world but really, he just misses his mother. And now he’s getting flashbacks with Nathalie as to wht was happening with Emilie.  That’s all the proof we need, that’s the show telling us directly that the miraculous is exactly what caused Emilie to go into a coma in the first place. But then sweet plagg, coming in and making him laugh. I think it’s awesome that Plagg is so good at piano too. But its so sad that directly after such a cute scene, he gets taken away.
Tumblr media
His face just lights up
“Mom’s the only one who could make me laugh like that. Thank you, plagg” Sweetie pie!
Tumblr media
clack clack clack clack clack clack The clicking of heels is such an aesthetically pleasing sound
“I can feel it’s yearning, Hawkmoth” and I can feel yours someone needs to give you love.
Tumblr media
She has the power to Thanos amoks XD
“Take one step closer and I’ll take your amok away from you...you dont want me to destroy you do you?” Man, that’s brutal. She’s got to reason with it as if its an actual living thing (I’ve heard various theories as to why sentimonsters are and are not living individual beings and I just think its all very interesting)- but looking at this after knowing Ladybug and Chat Noir will come to the conclusion that they are later down the road, this episode kinda shows pretty well too that Sentimonsters could really actually be their own being. It felt almost like she was chastising a puppy.
Tumblr media
Wow, familyagrestefanblog was right about this- they really can be akumatized. Which...also goes along with them being conscious beings as Ladybug and Chat Noir believed. Its all so interesting. And the morals here? If this is all so then where is the morality of using the peacock miraculous at all? Eventually the sentimonster is going to be destroyed. UNLESS the reason they can be akumatized is because they’re the very embodiment of a person’s emotions.
Tumblr media
And did I mention that I LOVE his facial expressions in this ep?
“Ill even give you the peacocks and mine as a bonus”
“I always honour my commitments”
So was he not going to blackmail the thing? Or was what he told Lila also a lie? If he wasn’t going to black mail it, then is he really that willing to give up all the miraculous once he has what he wants? Which is literally just to right some wrongs and heal his wife? Low-key if that’s the case I like him a little more.
Okay so
Tumblr media
I’ve always had this idea on if Hawkmoth used catalyst, and akumatized one person to do some damage and draw out the hero’s then akumatized Lila with tracking abilities and put her in the middle of the fight, he could use her to find out who ladybug and chat noir were and take their miraculous in their sleep.
But also, this is so sad.
Marinette’s first thought wasnt “Oh no, I can’t be ladybug anymore”
It was “Tikki!”
And she was so desperate to get her back. You could see it in her face, she was so determined. Her clumsiness didn’t get in her way this time- because she was determined and focused, no nerves- she just wanted her friend back. And I liked how Wayzz was trying to convince Fu that it was a bad idea.
Tumblr media
So Bikerbug really just keeps her bike IN the bakery huh?
Tumblr media
Okay, so, I really really love watching this scene- his facial expressions, the fluid movement, I quite enjoy it. And I love the way Mayura sounds when she speaks so that’s just an added bonus, but then.
“My Dear Mayura...”
I think I forgot how to breath when he said that. I don’t think that Nathalie is gonna flip out over every little thing (like people theorizing that her heart sped up or whatnot in Ladybug when Hawkmoth landed in front of her and she got a close-up of the booty- I think there, she was more concerned with survival than that) but that? She had to have felt that.
Tumblr media
Adrien recognized Ladybug immediately. And Master Fu was leading Feast right through traffic.
Me mentally: Oh hey Bananoir, how you peeling?
“As you wish, Bugaboo~” He wants her to call him Bananoir omgosh.
“Master look, Ladybug and Chat Noir, despite their ridiculous costumes” Oh my gosh Wayzz leave them be XD
“The guardian of the miraculous is this decrepit old man?” Honeybun there are gonna be people saying the same thing about you if you’re revealed as Hawkmoth.
& Am I the only one that really wants to see Master Fu’s transformation?
Tumblr media
“You sure its the right time, M’lady?” Chat, please.
Tumblr media
Chat is not amused.
“Keep those miraculous nice and warm for me, and enjoy the other ones, youve earned them” Either he is actually being nice to the sentimonster because it actually did its job or hes planning on blackmailing it and having Nathalie take away its amok anyway?
“Farewell my dear Wayzz” doesn’t hold as much impact as “My dear Mayura”
“Careful what you wish for”
Tumblr media
He’s mad cause he felt so close, when really he had just fallen into their trap.
Tumblr media
And she detransformed without even saying “fall my feathers”
Tumblr media
And he rushed to her
Tumblr media
And the way she looks at him? She is helpless.
Tumblr media
That is not the face of a heartless man.
Tumblr media
1.) Now we have a shot of their official height difference minus nathalie’s heels.  2.) They are standing side by side untransformed. But Emilie is still looming over them. They seem to be equals, But Emilie is between them, behind them, watching, and much bigger than they are. Hmm...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No one related to either of these two showed up at all in the rest of the episode. Why is it so important for us to know that they were watching the broadcast that they cut to them to show us? And why go to the trouble of putting both Tsurgi’s in frame? Also note, they both have dark coverings over their eyes, whereas Gabriel and Nathalie do not. I know Kagami’s mom is blind but I wannt look a little further into it- could it be that they are going to end up allies with Gabriel, or going to Tibet and getting their own miraculous from the different wish boxes and use them for bad too? But what if their intentions are not the same as Gabriel and Nathalie’s. Neither of them have malicious intent in their search for Ladybug and Chat Noir’s miraculous- Nathalie wants to help the man she loves and Gabriel wants to fix the past/his wife. But could these two have more sinister plans? So it shows them with a dark covering over their eyes to show that their vision for the future is dark and muddled?
Tumblr media
Master Fu really out here thinking that that is gonna make him less recognizable. Just goes to show you that the people of Paris really are just blind.
Tumblr media
Oh boy, that ending though. Gabriel seems so determined right here. “And it shall be served very cold...” And he is saying all this in front of Emilie, but he is talking to Ladybug. There’s just something off about it, to me. Idk. That’s all I really have to say, if you made it this far, thanks for reading.

Foresight is 20/20 Chapter 7
I groaned and yawned as I woke up with a fuzzy head. I started rubbing my eyes as I sat up a bit.
Then I went back down and almost fell asleep. I didn't actually fall asleep, however, because of a knock on my door. "In a minute," I managed to get out, then rolled off the bed. I eventually managed to get up and open the door to the sight of a woman of the main branch family, if I remembered right. "Sleepy," I blearily muttered as an excuse. I probably had bedhead, which added to the image.
She chuckled. "So this is why you don't let anyone in your room in the morning hours," she said jokingly.
I grunted, licked my lips, then said, "I must look like a little death, huh?" I snapped my fingers at my vanity and my brush and comb flew over thanks to the wind attribute in Kurama's chakra, then started un-messing my hair. She just stared at me incredulously. "So what do yo- ah!" I was interrupted by the brush trying to force through a particularly bad knot. They stopped long enough for me to sort out the knot, then continued. "I told you two to stop if that happens," I chided. I gave the woman whose name I couldn't remember at the moment a small, polite smile and explained, "A jutsu that I made that animates things. I unfortunately don't have enough enough chakra to use anything practical in a fight yet, but I can use it for laziness." I shrugged. "Sure, I have to charge them up every so often or they'll die, but they're pretty nice. So what do you need from me?"
"...Hiashi-sama asked me to give you this, and not to look inside it," she said as she handed me a messenger bag. I grunted a "thanks" and opened it to see a couple of scrolls, a large book, and a file. "If I might ask, what exactly is in that?"
"Top-secret fuinjutsu stuff," I muttered as I opened the file to see medical records and a picture of a small boy with red hair and shadows around his eyes. "If anyone asks, you never saw this. Talk to Father if you want to know why, but just know it comes from Hokage-sama." I put the file back and took the book out. I raised my eyebrows when I realized that it looked like a primer on the theory of poison. "Thanks... uh..." I thought for a moment. "Sorry, I should know this, I'm still a little asleep... Yuri-san?"
"It's actually Yuriko, Kouki-kun," she politely corrected. "I'm going to go now. Good luck with your project."
I sat down at my desk after she left and pulled out all of the scrolls and the file. I sorted through the scrolls, putting the jutsu scrolls back in the bag. When I was done I looked through the final scroll, which was about Gaara's seal. I frowned and ran my fingers through my hair when I was done. "This doesn't make any sense..." I muttered. "Either I'm missing something or Gaara really shouldn't be having as many problems as he has... Maybe it's something to do with Shukaku in particular? Maybe Kurama knows something." I opened the file on Gaara back up to see what I could gleam from that. "Nothing too useful, it turns out..." I sighed. I might have been able to do something with the stuff about his chakra and the symptoms that they knew for sure were from Shukaku, but I'd probably need to consult Kurama first, and he was... actually it was really surprising, but he was playing with Hinata, so I couldn't talk to him. Then I noticed a small sealing tag included with the papers. I picked it up and immediately recognized it as a used Inner Demon Calming Seal. A sticky note on it said that the Kazekage had Gaara use one for practice so I'd have a baseline, which was really good on his part. Would have to tell him he done good.
I took it, pulled out a blank scroll, put the tag on the scroll, and made a half ram seal. Words flowed out of the seal and onto the scroll, forming the statistics on Gaara. I nodded. It looked like the scan function was working perfectly, and the data I got from it was pretty good. I already had the beginnings of an idea just from that, though I decided I should probably consult Kurama before actually trying to work on it as a precaution. When I was done, I made a half dragon seal and pulled the tag from the scroll. The words peeled off with the scroll, and as I flipped the tag around and put it down, the words reconstituted into a sort of spherical barrier that allowed a ball of red chakra to emerge from the seal without dispersing into the air. I frowned as I saw the size of it. "The regulator's off..." The idea was that the seal would take only a little bit extra of Shukaku's chakra from what it was using to suppress Shukaku for me to play with, but there was a lot more than what I was expecting. "Orrrrr maybe it's just that Shukaku wasn't trying to break free or fighting at all?" I realized, then shrugged. "Meh." I made another half ram seal with my left hand and an empty sealing circle formed on it. I shoved my hand into the containment barrier and the red chakra flowed into the seal, forming a slash in the middle, the kanji for one.
kukukuku~
I knocked on the door. Thankfully, the seal on my hand had disappeared after it settled down just like Naruto's. That would've been hard to hide if it hadn't... Because I could feel that nobody was around, I revealed the seal for a bit to inspect it while I waited for someone to open the door. When I felt Tenko about to open the door, I let it fade again and shoved my hands into my pockets. "Hey, Uzumaki-san," I said with a small smile.
"Kouki-kun," she greeted back. "Are you here to see Naruto-kun?" I nodded and she let me inside. The house was nice. It wasn't nearly as big as the Hyuuga compound, for obvious reasons, but it was pretty big for a family of four. Probably because of the prestige of the Uzumaki clan, even if said clan was only the four members.
"How's he settling in?" I asked.
"Kouki!" Naruto shouted as he waved enthusiastically at me, then went back to climbing on Ai.
"Hey, kid," Ai greeted as Naruto managed to get to and start pushing on her face. "A little help, honey? Please?" Tenko giggled and picked Naruto up off of Ai, earning a peck on the cheek as thanks. "Thanks, sweetie."
I chuckled. "So he's settling in nice, then?" I inferred, then beckoned for Naruto. "C'mere, Naruto. I wanna tell you something."
Tenko put him down, but he frowned and didn't come to me. "Why do you have that weird feeling that all the mean people have, Kouki-kun?" he asked me.
I internally sighed and, not for the first time, was glad that my general lack of major emoting most of the time kept my annoyance from really showing. Naruto had noted feeling the malice of others recently, which was from my giving Kurama his yin power back. Still, though, it shouldn't have been strong enough to passively sense what little malice I could generate towards him... I extended my (unfortunately still weak passively) malice sense towards him, or rather his seal, and felt a sort of... "smug" malice coming from Kurama, which made more sense. I sent him a little message of "you suck" and told Naruto, "I dunno, but are you gonna ignore my advice?" He shrugged and walked over to me, allowing me to give him a light chop to the head. On the plus side, I was conditioning him to equate malice directed at him with pain, hopefully.
"Hey!" he complained.
"Don't throw away Gudo Dama, stupid," I chided.
"I don't even know what that is!"
"Powerful but finicky jutsu that you might get in the future if events line up, and in my visions you stupidly hamstrung your ability to use two fifths of it like an hour after getting it by throwing two of them into a Chibaku Tensei in another space-time. Don't do that for real."
"What happened to not punishing people for things they haven't done yet?"
I shrugged. "That was for having the potential stupid to throw away Gudo Dama. You don't even want to know what I'll do if I learn you do it without a good enough reason." Then, I heard the frantic footsteps of a young girl and turned around to see Tenten staring at me with an elated expression. "'Sup," I said.
"Naruto-kun said that you have healing powers!" Tenten said.
I shrugged. "Yeah, but not the kind just anyone can use, if that's what you're asking." Her face fell. "But if it's healing jutsu you want to learn, then you should know that you should have a bit of an advantage with yang release due to being an Uzumaki, which you need for medical release."
"Yes!" she shouted and threw her hands in the air. "I wanna be like Tsunade, she's this really cool kunoichi who's a really good healer!"
Ai pouted. "I'm a cool kunoichi too... And I have weapons... It's because I'm only a special jonin, isn't it?"
I nodded. "Tsunade's got some bad habits that I'm pretty sure your moms would like very much if you never pick up," they both agreed emphatically, "and you don't need to be a medic to be cool, but if you really, really wanna know how to heal people, then..." I took my hand out of my pocket, and a leaf appeared on it. "The other half of the equation is chakra control, so get cracking." I used a chakra thread to put it in her hands. "Well, there's knowledge needed too, but the biggest parts are yang release and plenty of chakra control."
"How did you do that?" Ai asked me, amazed.
I pulled down my sleeve, revealing a wristband with a storage seal on it that I'd made with Kurama's help. Really, why don't more people do that? It's awesome and useful. "I made a waterproof storage seal wristband with variable output, which is a lot more practical than you'd think if you do it right, by the way," I explained.
Ai gave me an eager look that made me feel like stars should have appeared in her eyes, and said, "Teach me your ways, master."
"Hey, I don't actually know how this leaf helps me with chakra control," Tenten complained.
"Naruto," I ordered. He took my meaning immediately and went over to help his new sister with her leaf. I turned back to Ai and said, "Right, so the first thing you need to know is that you can put waterproof seals on fabric surprisingly easily..."
kukukuku~
My eyes closed and my body absolutely still as I sat cross-legged under the shade of the tree, I pondered what Kurama and I had talked about in regards to Gaara's seal. "If I use it like that, the side-effects would actually be beneficial," I thought to myself as I formulated the beginnings of a plan. My thoughts shifted, however, when I finally managed to begin to feel the ebb and flow of the energy of the world around me after what felt like an hour of meditation. Without my eye's secondary powers, I doubted that I would've been able to stop fidgeting for that long...
Thankfully, the fact that I wasn't using toad oil to feel the natural energy meant that I didn't immediately start drawing on it, because at my chakra level, that would've probably been really bad. Without even opening my eyes, which I wasn't even sure I could do without breaking my tenuous natural energy sensing, I focused on the blue chakra in my hand. My idea was to combine the natural energy outside of my body until I felt I could do proper sage mode so as to circumvent the danger of using sage chakra.
Kurama had laughed that idea off at first when I'd told him, saying that there was no way I'd be able to add the natural energy to already-completed chakra until I'd actually managed to get the feel of sage chakra. I then told him that one of my failed attempts at yin-yang release involved me somehow managing to split my chakra back into its constituent parts and then recombining them outside of my body, which made him shut up. I thought back to when I managed to do it, then tried to recreate the feat. As is my curse, actually trying to do it somehow made it exponentially more difficult, though I just barely managed to puzzle it out. After that, I started working on recombining it, but with some extra natural energy. I almost got it... almost... almost...
"Hey, you!" Aaaand I lost it. I sighed, looked over the two chakra signatures that approached me, one of which had a suspiciously familiar signature to it that I honestly shouldn't have been too shocked about given who was writing the story, and opened my eyes to see a blonde girl about my age in front of me with a shy-looking pink-haired girl behind her.
"I-Ino-chan, you don't have to..." Oh, right. Sakura was really shy when she was a little kid. Seriously, though, how did she go from that to where she was at the start of the anime?
Actually it was probably the dumb fangirl thing. Would have to do something about that...
I licked my lips. "Nah, it's okay. I was almost done anyway... Whaddya want?"
"Why were you talking to that one kid earlier," Ino asked. She was referring to how Naruto was talking to me while I was meditating a bit earlier before going to play ninja with Tenten, Hinata, and Neji. "Our parents keep telling us not to talk to him."
I gave her my "I'm silently judging you" glare and said, "If anyone ever spent so much as two seconds getting to know Naruto they'd know he isn't a demon that has become quite jaded with most of humanity on account of their exploitative ways," eliciting a "What?" from both of them. "If either of your parents have problems not judging an innocent boy for events that happened literally on the day of his birth, then they can take it up with the Hokage." An idea came to me and I smirked. "Naruto's actually really friendly, you might like him. If you two want, I can probably get you in their game." I looked at Sakura and gave her a small, wry smile. "Plus, I think the two of you might be distantly related."
Ino sighed. "Why does everyone think that everyone with blonde hair is a Yamanaka?" she asked. "Not everyone with the same hair color are clan members!"
"I already knew that, Yamanaka Ino, heiress of the Yamanaka clan." I internally laughed at her face. "I think there are some redhead Yamanaka too, so explain that. Plus zero members of the current Uzumaki clan, despite three of them having chakra that suggests they inherited at least part of the bloodline, have the traditional Uzumaki red hair. No, I meant your pink-haired friend, who for some reason has a chakra signature that reminds me of members of the Senju and Uzumaki, plus with something else vaguely bloodliney that I haven't seen before. Probably foreshadowing for something."
Sakura blinked. "I'm part of the Uzumaki and Senju clans?" she asked.
I shrugged. "Could be close, could be distant. Uzumaki's an offshoot of Senju and I've only ever felt three confirmed Uzumaki, plus I've got nothing to compare that third, totally-something-that'll-come-up-later bloodline to, so that could also be something. Heck, it's so much of a jumble I wouldn't be surprised if you're from a third line descended from Otsutsuki Ashura that I somehow don't know about."
"A what?" Sakura asked.
I hummed. "The only thing about that that you really need to worry about is that you more likely than not have a longer lifespan and life energy than your average person. And if you wanna be a ninja, I suggest looking at medical ninjutsu. Tsunade the medical genius got to be so good from a combination of her advantage in yang release granted by having a Senju and an Uzumaki as grandparents and her skill with chakra control." I pointed at Tenten. "That's Tenten. Speak to her if you're curious. She really likes Tsunade."
Sakura blinked. "Thank you."
"It's cool," I said. "I'm gonna play now. You in?"
kukukuku~
"Hey, you!" a voice that I'm pretty sure was Sakura's mom said. I confirmed with a bit of chakra-sensing.
I turned around to see her. "Hello, Haruno-san."
She flinched. "How did you know my name?"
"I may not look it, but I'm skilled with chakra-sensing," I explained. "You share a... peculiarity in your chakra with your daughter." So my theory about that third thing in Sakura's chakra having to do with Ashura was probably shot, considering the fact that her mom had it and not the Uzumaki and Senju stuff.
"Right, well I don't like you telling my daughter to talk to talk to that Naruto boy."
I gave her a faux-confused stare. "What's wrong with him?"
As I expected, she blanched. "Well... he's..."
I decided to push a bit further. "Give me one good reason for all the abuse he's had at the hands of the village. One thing he's done that would change my mind. Burden of proof." After some more of her grasping for a good reason, I continued with a glare. "I know about the Kyuubi, by the way, and that's not a good reason." I made sure nobody was around before elaborating. "He's not the fuzzball, and if it weren't for him neither of us would be alive. Nor would your daughter, your husband, or just about anyone you've ever known and loved. Why then?"
"I... I-"
I snorted. "Save it. You're not gonna rationalize your way out of that moral quandary." I pulled out the used Inner Demon Calming Seal tag, then replaced the used-up sealing formula with a fresh one with my chakra alone. "If it really bothers you that your kid's friends with the jinchuriki, this thing can be used to suppress Fluffy's chakra, at least as long as... it... is still at least partially in Naruto." Calling Kurama it felt dirty. That's probably a good thing. "It's practically the best thing you can have when dealing with an out-of-control jin...chu..." I trailed off as it finally hit me just what I made.
"Fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu-" I internally screamed.
She blinked. "It's okay. I don't need this. You're right."
"-uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu-" I put the seal back away and said, "Yeah that's probably for the best... Hang on, I need to make a call real quick." I closed my eyes and reached out with my telepathy to Sarutobi's office.
"I already took care of it," Hiruzen told me immediately upon picking up. He was getting real nonchalant about having someone randomly use telepathy on him...
"-uuuuuuuu... huh?"
"Do you think I didn't realize how Akatsuki could use your seal?" he asked. "Rest assured, I informed the Kazekage of the gravity of it and why he should be careful with who he gives that information to. I also managed to put a genjutsu on it that should hopefully use Sasori's jutsu to induce memory loss. Theoretically, anyway. I'm not the best at genjutsu and I haven't seen Sasori's jutsu."
"Thanks," I mentally sighed. "I really dropped the ball there, huh?"
He mentally chuckled. "To be fair, you are still a child. You might still want to check in on Sasori."
"Will do. Bye." I opened my eyes back up. "Right, where were we?" I asked before realizing she was gone. "Meh, I'm sure everything's fine now."
kukukuku~
I sighed and licked my lips as I looked at the two balls of "sage" chakra in my hands. One was blue and one was red, but I was a little disappointed with the conversion time of both, even after multiple days of practice. Almost five minutes for a small amount of blue chakra and a little over twice that for an equal amount of red. I wasn't going to be able to use that in combat anytime soon...
Though I suppose it was better than my first time of about an hour for blue.
"I guess it still works for what I need it for," I sighed, then shrugged as I considered the blue chakra. With Kurama's and my calculations, it was doubtful that I'd need any more than a small amount of blue sage chakra, so I just traded a bit of chakra between my hands and reabsorbed the mostly blue chakra. It wasn't much of a boost and therefore carried none of the actual risks of sage mode, but I definitely felt a buzz from it that felt pretty nice. After that, I pulled out the little bug cage thing I got for the other component I needed for the jutsu I'd thought of.
That other thing being the bugs that I had. Well, any animal would do, but I wanted to start small and with something that I would hopefully not feel guilt over killing. Of course, that meant that I barely had any material to work with, just a couple of flies that I'd managed to convince Hinata to catch while I was meditating. I looked at them for a few minutes, took a few deep breaths, and said, "Sorry, little guys." I channeled the demonic sage chakra into the bugs, pouring all of the chakra evenly into them. The flies took on a look similar to a stage two chakra cloak but without the tail before beginning to compress and converge on each other.
The idea was to use the mutative properties of natural energy overload to change them into something I could use. Theoretically, I could have used less demon sage chakra than complete saturation, but I decided that with how easy it was to saturate the flies, I would just do that and observe as best I could to see if I could glean the proper form for that and not have to go through trial and error. After about a minute, they had fully compressed and fused together into a small red crystal with a light glow. I sighed when I saw that it was pebble-sized, about a centimeter in diameter. Sure, I wasn't expecting to pull an adequately-sized crystal out of a few flies, but I was hoping for a little more... I ran my fingers through my hair and picked up the pebble. "I guess it's fine for now..." I muttered, then reached down my shirt to stick it on my sternum, hidden away. A seal blossomed on my skin, collecting the very minute amount of demon sage chakra that the stone was generating. Until I had a bigger one, that was the best use for it I could think of.
kukukuku~
Imagine that one French narrator voice from Spongebob saying "One month later."
"So that's probably a good structure for the seal, right?" I asked, swinging my legs in the air. I was honestly surprised that the blood hadn't rushed to my head yet; I was sitting upside-down on the couch. Something something tree-walking, probably.
Ai shrugged. "Probably."
"Yeah, Shukaku's a slippery bastard, but that should about do it," Kurama agreed, curled up on another seat.
"Seal team meeting adjourned?" I asked, then got nods from the both of them. "Adjourned. Now that we're done, I remembered something I wanted to ask you, Ai."
"Shoot, kid."
I smirked and picked up a cookie from the plate on the table (using chakra threads, obviously). I took a bite from it, then after I swallowed said, "Your wife makes amazing cookies."
She blushed lightly. "Okay first, you skipped over the question. Second, she's only my girlfriend. We're not even engaged yet." I gave her a flat look and raised an eyebrow, causing her blush to deepen to the proper Uzumaki shade of red. "I'm still looking for a ring..." she muttered.
I nodded. "Good, you two feel like an old married couple already. Now, what do you know about the Adamantine Sealing Chains?"
Ai sighed deeply. "I still can't figure it out, even after I asked Kushina for advice a few years ago," she grumbled. "I'm still not entirely sure it's a Kekkei Genkai and not a Hijutsu..."
"Technically it's both," Kurama said. "If I recall correctly, it's technically a Hijutsu that uses the special chakra of the Uzumaki. You should be able to figure it out eventually if you know enough of how to use it, though."
Ai frowned. "How did you... Right... Hey, if you know so much about it from Kushina, do you have any tips to using it?"
Kurama shrugged. "I didn't really pay too much attention to it because I couldn't think of any way I could possibly use it to break out of the seal, and that was really all I was thinking of at the time... I know that you should be able to do it more easily if you manage it at least once, but I can't help you with that."
"I have an idea," I offered.
Kurama sighed, got up, and said, "Why do I feel like I'm not going to like this?"
"If it's part Kekkei Genkai, then you might find it easier to do it if you have more power behind you instead of harder."
"The math checks out, but I still don't like where this is going," Kurama complained. The red gem I'd made, now completed, dropped from under my shirt and into my hand. It had that one gem shape, sort of like a kunai but without the handle, though it was about half the scale of a kunai. "FUCK. NO." Kurama looked at me with with what probably should have been abject terror if he had the ability to make expressions. "Kouki, no!"
"Kouki yes," I countered flatly.
"Fuck this," Kurama said, then ran for the opened door. He stopped at the doorway, said "Kurama is out. Peace," and noped off as fast as his little legs could carry him.
"Should I be concerned by Kurama's reaction to that?" Ai asked.
I shrugged. "Unless you have objections to temporarily gaining phenomenal cosmic power, not particularly. I'll use my eyes to make sure I give you about as much as you can take without adverse effects, maybe a bit less. Kurama's just a wuss."
She nodded. "Cool. So what is that?"
"Demon gem." I originally called it a demon sage core, but that's a mouthful so I shortened it to demon gem. "A special stone of my own invention that generates red chakra and fuses it with natural energy on its own."
She gave me a huge grin. "Sounds fun."
I activated my eyes long enough to check how it would go down. Turns out it was a good idea, worked well enough, but unless we had more, then Ai'd really have to try to finesse it to get the chains out, and that's boring. "Unfortunately, though, it's probably gonna take like a month to do that, even with a head start. You've got a lot of chakra capacity."
"Dammit."

Purrloined Petals with Blake and Emerald moving Ruby’s apartment to get away from their abusive relationships, only for the three to fall in love
hey,,,,,Hey,,,,,,,,,,
im stuck at the laundromat rn so you get some FIC
~~~~
Ruby hadn't heard from Blake or Emerald since they graduated two years before her. She'd kept up with them through social media, occasionally seeing posts pop up from one or the other, and through mutual friends.
According to Weiss, Blake had gone to college and gotten together with an older guy. Last she'd heard, they were getting married. And Mercury'd said something about Emerald and some older woman living together. "Rumor has it," he'd said quietly, leaning in close, "it's Ms. Fall. Our AP English teacher, remember?" Ruby was shocked by the news but remembered more than Emerald blushing around Ms. Fall whenever she came near.
And that was over a year and a half ago. So she was quite surprised when both women answered her ad looking for a roommate. She considered it and remembered both of them being very organized in school and made a fast decision.
So now she was waiting for the pair to show up to begin the moving in process. She hadn't asked them why they were suddenly looking in apartment ads. There was a timid knock at the door and Ruby shot up from the couch, smashing her knee against her coffee table as she did so. She limped to the door and paused for a moment, taking a deep breath and messing with her hair. She pulled the door open and had to lean her head back to look her old friend in the eyes.
Blake looked different than Ruby remembered. Her hair was cut short and she had dark circles and she just looked...tired. Weak. She smiled at Ruby and opened her arms slightly.
"Ruby Rose," she said and her smile actually reached her eyes. Ruby stepped forward into the embrace.
"Blake Bella- T-Taurus?" she stumbled, unsure how to address her now. Blake tensed slightly.
"Belladonna. We divorced," she said, tone clipped. Ruby closed her eyes and swore silently at herself. She nodded once and stepped back, gesturing into the apartment.
"Well, welcome home," she said, forcing her voice to be as bubbly as possible. "I'd start the tour but we have another roommate who still needs to join us." Blake raised an eyebrow.
"Your ad said you were only looking for one roommate."
"Ah, yeah, well I wanted to keep one bedroom as a guest room, but when I saw your name and Em's name pop up I couldn't choose one over the other." She gently closed the door behind them and waved her hand towards the living room. "You can sit down for now if you'd like. Oh yeah, do you still like tea? Because Weiss got me this really excellent blend and while I'm still more of a coffee person I think it's delicious," she rambled. She heard Blake laugh quietly behind her and immediately felt her ears go red.
"Yes, I still like tea. I'd love a cup." Ruby relaxed a little and stood on her tiptoes to grab a mug from the cupboard.
"Dammit Yang," she grumbled as she stretched. Warmth touched her back and a pair of hands grabbed two mugs. Ruby froze as Blake pulled away, setting the cup on the counter. Her heart pounded and she tried to will her blush away.
"You're as short as ever," Blake said, breaking the awkward silence. This time Ruby's face stained red with anger.
"Rude!" she snapped. Blake laughed and put her hands up in surrender.
"Sorry, sorry. I was talking to Weiss and she said you'd grown recently. I guess I sort of expected you to have gotten to Yang's height." Ruby took a deep breath.
"Anyway, tea. Would you fill the kettle for me, while I grab the box?" Blake nodded and moved off to do that. As Ruby pulled the box of tea out of the pantry, there was another knock on the door. "Would you grab another mug while I get the door?" she asked. She waited for Blake's nod before going to the door. She pulled it open and smiled brightly at Emerald and Mercury.
"Hey, Em! Hey, Merc! Didn't expect you, are you staying or just here to help her put her bags down?" Merc laughed.
"Hey, Red. Just helping with her bags," he said. Emerald smiled softly at her.
"Hey, Little Red," she said. Ruby beamed and ushered them inside.
"We're about to have tea, unless you'd rather have coffee, Em? So you're free to stick around for a bit, Merc."
"Tea's fine," Emerald said.
She stuck her head into the kitchen. "Make that two more mugs, Blake, Merc might be staying." Blake nodded and started making the tea.
Merc was flopped in her armchair, eyes shut. Emerald was perched on the arm and running her fingers through his hair. She smiled at Ruby when she walked back in. Ruby sat down on the couch and smiled back at her. "Blake will be out soon with the tea, I kind of feel bad for making her make it since it's my apartment, but I guess there's no helping it," she said.
"Oh, Blake is visiting?" Emerald asked. Ruby shook her head.
"No, she responded to my ad too! I figured since the apartment has three rooms, I could take on two roommates," Ruby explained. Blake stepped out of the kitchen, carrying the tea on Ruby's cutting board. She nodded at Emerald and sat down next to Ruby. Emerald nudged Mercury and handed him his mug.
"Ah, Ice Queen's special blend?" he asked. Ruby blinked in surprise.
"How did you know?" she asked. He laughed.
"She makes it every time we hang out. Well. When she hangs out with Neo and I tag along because I'm bored," he said. He lapsed into silence when he started sipping at the tea, humming happily. Ruby felt surprisingly comfortable in the silence while everyone drank their tea.
Mercury finished his first and stood up, stretching. He ruffled Ruby's hair. "Alright, I'm gonna head out. Gonna go home and nap. Call me later, Em!" The door clicked shut behind him and Ruby looked at Emerald and Blake.
"So, shall we do the grand tour?" she asked. They nodded at her, still quiet. Ruby pointed to the kitchen doorway. "Kitchen," to the living room, "Living room," she guided them into the hallway, "The door at the end is my room, these two doors along this wall are the other two rooms, this door here is the bathroom and the door next to it is the linen closet! You guys can of course choose which room you want, they're the same size. Weiss paid to have them furnished, but we can always get you different sheets and such later." Emerald pointed to the room closest to them.
"I want this one," she said. Ruby nodded.
"Blake? You okay with the other one?"
"Yeah, that's fine. I have to grab my things from my car," she said. Ruby nodded again.
"Do you need any help with that?" Blake shook her head.
"No, I'll leave most of it for tonight, I'll just get the couple boxes with my clothes." They moved back to the living room, where Em stooped to grab her bags and Blake left to go get her stuff. She watched both women disappear into their new rooms to start the unpacking process and wondered at her new sense of domesticity.
Things were about to get interesting for her, she could feel it.
Day 5: Mythological/Fantasy AU
“Ruby, what did I say about eating cookies?”
A groan was all the white-haired woman could hear from the bundle of blankets on the floor. The edge of the blanket was lifted up and a very poor-looking brunette peeked out. Resisting the urge to vomit, she shakily replied, “To n-not eat any c-cookies at all….”
Weiss sighed, her hand rubbing her eyes. The simplest of things she had to deal with on a daily basis. “How many did you eat?”
Another gag. “Four--”
“Well, that’s not too bad--”
“--teen...”
“Ruby! Why in the world would you eat that many? You know what chocolate does to you. Honestly, it’s like you’re trying to poison yourself.”
“I’m not doing it on p-purpose,” the brunette groaned again, rubbing her aching belly. “But they just taste so good.”
Weiss tapped her foot in frustration, but didn’t chide her any more. She knew the effects that chocolate had on canines and there was only one real solution. Even saying it out loud tasted bad. “You’ll have to throw it up.”
That made Ruby shoot up from her nest, her eyes as wide as dinner plates. “No! That’s disgusting!”
“Then you shouldn’t have eaten fourteen double chocolate chip cookies!” Weiss replied with as much force. “Just because you’re a person right now doesn’t mean you’re immune to chocolate poisoning! A werewolf is still a werewolf!”
“But Weiss--!”
“No buts! Scooch yourself over to the bathroom and--”
Ruby suddenly lunged at Weiss, locking her arms around her legs and didn’t move when the older girl struggled to free herself. “I promise I won’t eat any more! Can’t you j-just perform a s-spell or--gaugh--anything? Please?”
Weiss nearly fell over herself trying to get out of Ruby’s vice-like grip. The cryptid’s strength was still impressive even when ill. She could rip trees right out of the ground, land perfectly unharmed on her feet from a ridiculous height, and dash away faster than you could blink.
But that didn’t change the fact that Ruby nearly went into anaphylactic shock from eating some of her beloved childhood treats.
“What kind of spell would even help with that?” Weiss asked instead in annoyance, using Ruby’s head to balance herself before standing upright with her arms crossed.
Ruby thought for a moment. “Something for poison?”
Weiss opened her mouth to scold her, but stopped herself as an idea sunk in. She snapped her fingers and immediately disappeared in a puff of snow, materializing at her work table. Ruby gasped in surprise before collapsing onto the floor.
“A little warning would’ve been nice!” she called out. She retreated into her blanket nest, but kept her face uncovered so she could watch the sorceress work. Her nose picked up the scents of several herbs, but she didn’t know what they’d do together. By now, she knew better than to disturb Weiss while she was working, especially if it was something to help her.
Weiss, on the other hand, knew exactly what she had to do. Unfortunately for her very dear, but very dumb girlfriend, she wasn’t going to like the ‘spell’ at all. The sorceress knew the only way to purge the poison was to literally make Ruby throw it up herself. Under the guise of making a potion, Weiss did the only thing she could: make it disgusting enough so Ruby had no choice but to use her inhuman speed to the toilet. She winced at the thought of purposefully making her sick, but there was no other option. She’d just have to shower Ruby with as many apologies and affection as the werewolf would want.
A few minutes later had Weiss holding up a small glass of a swirling purple and yellow liquid. She crouched down to Ruby, still wrapped in blankets on the floor, and almost backed out of her plan after seeing the brunette look up at her with the most miserable, puppy-dog eyes imaginable. Almost. Ruby would hate her, but Weiss knew her anger wouldn’t even last five minutes.
“Here. Drink this quickly,” she told the whimpering girl.
“Thanks, Weiss,” Ruby said with a shaky smile, accepting the glass.
Weiss nearly lost her resolve there, but stood firm as she watched the girl down the drink. As soon as the last drop was consumed, Ruby was assaulted by the most atrocious tastes and smells, her senses going into overdrive at everything that was going through her body. Weiss watched her literally turn green with disgust as she scrambled out of her blanket nest and practically flew to their bathroom, barely making it to the toilet before the sound of violent retching filled their home. Weiss winced and bit her lip at each of Ruby’s gags. She slowly walked to the bathroom as the noises died down into coughs, looking in at the shaking brunette on the floor.
Ruby panted as she spit out the last of that wretched drink, her throat sore and eyes tearing up. She felt a hand rub her back soothingly as a towel was gently wiped across her face. Weiss flushed the toilet before helping Ruby sit back against the wall and offered her another glass: this time it was just water.
Ruby should be mad. How could Weiss trick her like that! But as she took the glass and looked up the trail of white hair, she saw the absolute regret in her girlfriend’s face. Seeing her suffer must’ve been hard for Weiss, too, and the guilt was clear in her eyes. Ruby first decided to take a gulp of water, swishing it around her mouth and spitting it into the toilet.
“I’m sorry,” Weiss murmured. “I didn’t want to make you sick, but it was really the only way for you to feel better. Speaking of which…how are you feeling now?”
Ruby patted her own stomach, no longer feeling the adverse effects of the chocolate. She sighed, knowing that this was really her fault and for her own good. “I’m better now. Thank you,” she responded, giving Weiss a smile. She received a light kiss on her forehead which made her giggle. “That was still super mean, though! What did you even put in that drink?”
“I don’t think you want to know,” Weiss told her with a grimace. She stroked a few strands of hair out of Ruby’s face and fruitlessly tried to tuck them behind her ear. “I still apologize for tricking you. If you knew my plan, then you would’ve never taken it. But I’m glad that it ultimately helped. It wasn’t fun seeing you hurt, either.”
“I’m just glad it’s over,” Ruby replied, slumping against the wall. She honestly did feel a lot better than a few minutes ago, but she knew she wasn’t going to eat another cookie for a long time.
Weiss sat beside her and gave her a wary eye. “Where did you even get those cookies?”
The werewolf bit her lip and looked away, instantly creating suspicion. She could feel Weiss staring at her and she started to sweat. “W-Would you be mad if I told you I got them from Yang?”
Weiss’ eyebrows shot up in alarm. “Why would she even give you those!”
Ruby laughed nervously. “She, uh, didn’t exactly give them to me…”
“Ruby. Rose.” Uh oh. “Don’t you dare tell me you stole them from your sister knowing full well what it does to you.”
More nervous laughter as the brunette held her hands up in a placating way. “Stealing is a very strong word.”
“You’re a very strong word, dolt.”
Overwatch: Oni x Goddess AU (Gency)
Vinni drew. Vinni shipped. I wrote.
Is that a meme? Whatever, pretty sure I butchered that...
ANywaaaaayyyy... @koshkavinni came up with this fabulous AU and let me write a quick one-shot for it. BLESS. THEM! This is probably one of my favorite Overwatch AUs, period.
Warnings: None
Characters: Genji Shimada, Angela “Mercy“ Ziegler
Other Tags: Oni!Genji, Goddess!Mercy, Fantasy Setting, Romance, Angst, Cliffhanger that won’t be resolved (by me at least *insert smiling devil emoji*
This isn’t beta’d, so any mistakes are on me.
-----
Genji was taught his whole life that his demonic nature was the only thing that has defined him, and will ever define him. That’s what’s been drilled into his head since childhood. Despite that philosophy never quite sitting well with him, he just kept quiet and pretended to accept it. For centuries he tried to defy it, but one way or another, the darkness caught up with him. He was about to embrace it for good when she came along.
She was his polar opposite. He was the embodiment of darkness, despair and misfortune while she was everything light, happy and nothing short of beautiful.
She was the Goddess of mercy. Her name was Angela
-----
He didn’t fall in love with her immediately, and nor did she with him. It took time, but they got there.
A friendship bloomed between them rather quickly. Especially for beings of light and dark. He slowly opened up to her, and she was always there to listen. When she learned of the darkness that inhabited the world in all corners, he was there to help her comprehend it. Both of them were young, and still had lots to learn about the mortal and immortal realms. Whatever obstacles they faced, they carried each other through it. No matter how many tears were shed, giggles and laughs spilled, neither let go of the other.
-----
The longer they spent together, the more darkness he sensed.
Her physical appearance didn’t change. Her magic wasn’t diminished. Her demeanor and personality never faltered either. Nonetheless, something was still very wrong.
Genji tried to hide it from her, and for a while he was successful. His white, red-fanged mask was off whenever her presence was near, but he kept an invisible mask on under it as well. Angela saw through both of them.
It was Genji’s greatest fear that the darkness that followed him would take her, too. It was always pushed deep down in his core, covered by the hope that she was his equal as much as his opposite. His balance, the yin to his yang, whatever someone might call it. Now it rose into his chest and left a burning sensation in his throat. He absolutely would not let anything give away his worry.
It became harder and harder every time he saw her. The darkness was stronger than he anticipated. The last thing he wanted was to make it worse, but he wasn’t sure what would make it worse or better. That was the only reason he refrained from stealing her kiss.
“Genji, is everything alright?“
“Yes, Angela, I’m fine.“
“But you’re crying.”
He swiftly wiped the dampness from his cheeks, but it was too late. Angela did the only thing she could think of to console him and immediately threw her arms around him and squeezed around his chest. Without thinking he wrapped his around her waist in return.
When she looked up to meet his gaze, the distance between their lips was already very short. Without asking, Genji closed it. If he was going to lose her, he would at least tell her how much she meant to him. Angela didn't mind.
She pressed back. Her hands moved from his back to the sides of his face to trace the red markings on his cheeks with her thumbs. His own hands moved to tangle with the feathers of her wings. The horror in his mind dimmed when she returned his kiss, but rose again when the feathers between his fingers were pulled with no resistance. Angela didn't feel them gone, either. In truth, she couldn't feel anything in the moment.
"Genji..." was what she managed to say before collapsing in his arms as if her legs turned to water. She went completely limp in his hold and he wasted no time in grasping her tighter to prevent her from falling. Tears began forming much quicker and falling in large beads. Her feathers fell at an accelerated rate around them, giving her wings a tattered appearance.
“Angela!” he shouted as he held on to a sliver of hope. Hope that she could hear him. Hope that he could pull her from the waiting jaws of the darkness before it fully consumed her. Hope that she would come back to him.
He cradled her body to his chest and rested her head in the crook of his neck. He shut his eyes as more tears kept running down his cheeks and over his markings. He murmured silent promises into her golden locks as her faint breaths faced across his neck. The warmth in her person was fading, and he wished that some way...
“She can be saved.”
The unfamiliar voice caused Genji to snap his gaze up. He was greeted by a tall woman with nearly ivory-hued skin. Her hair was a deep blue, and the crescent moon insignia on her forehead had the same colorization. There entire outfit was pitch black. Her large feathered wings invisible against the starless and moonless night. Her discolored eyes added a cynical touch to her sadistic expression. Genji immediately didn’t trust her, but still asked her to continue.
“H-How?” he choked out.
“Her soul is tainted,” the woman began. “Because of you, the darkness-”
“SHUT UP!” Genji bellowed. “I didn’t ask why, I only need to know how I can save her!”
“I intend to extract the darkness, Oni,” she hissed. “She’ll be free of the darkness, and I’ll even put a spell on her to prevent dark magic from entering her.”
Genji tightened his grip on the cool body in his grasp. “How do I know I can trust you?”
“You don’t, but you also don’t have much time left to decide.”
She was right. He didn’t have any other alternative.
“Why would you do this?”
“I have my reasons. Now, do we have a deal or not?”
A glowing piece of parchment appeared in front of him. His instincts creamed at him not to take this deal, but he’d do anything to have his goddess back.
His goddess.
“Yes,” he said grabbing the contract. It disappeared as soon as he touched it, and Angela became weightless. He let her go and she hovered in front of him. He expected her feathers to reattach themselves to her wings. He yearned to see her cheeks hold their pink tinge again. He’d do anything to gaze into the blue depth of her eyes again.
Of course, he should have known better.
Her white dress remained white, but it was... different. Her golden hair turned into a light lavender, and her crown of leaves was replaced by large black horns protruding from the side of her head, and curving upwards in a forward motion. Black markings lined her brow. A long, white tail snaked out from under her dress. Lastly, her wings, her beautiful wings no longer held soft feathers, but instead had a leathery texture and had a bright pink aura to them. When her transformation finished, she fell to the earth again, Genji lifted her head and placed it in his lap.
He was about to confront the dark-haired woman about what she did to the goddess. It was not part of the deal, and Angela certainly wouldn’t have asked for it. When he looked up, she had vanished without a sound or trace. Part of him wanted to find her and confront her, but he was distracted by Angela’s eyes shooting open with a sharp gasp coming from her mouth.
“Angela? Angela, can you hear me?”
Her eyes darted around for a few moments before meeting his gaze. Her irises were a soft blue, but something was wrong. They didn’t hold the sparkle he was used to. In fact, her entire face was unreadable. Genji didn’t know whether he should be relieved or concerned.
But she was alive. Angela was alive! Before he let his mind form any second thoughts, he bent down to her level and wrapped one arm around her middle and one around her neck.
He felt a soft pushing against his chest, and he let her go.
“Genji, what are you doing?”
She let out a soft groan in pain and grabbed her head with one of her hands. It was faint, but her eyes flickered from blue to soft pink and back to blue. “What happened? Why were you hugging me?”
His heart dropped and the lump in his throat grew larger. Somewhere, in that body, his goddess still lives. Her eyes still look back at him, despite being trapped in that body. She could be saved.
No matter what it takes. He will get Angela back.
-----
And that’s all! This was so much fun to make! (In case it wasn’t very clear, Moon Moira is the dark angel that made the deal with Genji and Angela became Imp Mercy.) Don’t forget to check out Vinni’s art for the AU!
Warnings: Mental Health
PART I | PART II
Y/N couldn’t help but sneak glances at the handsome man sitting next to her on the couch whenever she could. She had worked with James Bucky for what seemed like forever now. In reality, it had only been a few months, but they felt like kindred spirits in a way, like they had known each other a lot longer. When he had finally removed his disguise and showed her his real self, she couldn’t deny she was immediately smitten. Not only was a good, honest man, but he was handsome as hell.
“Y/N? Hellooooo? Earth to Y/N,” she felt a piece of popcorn hit her face as she snapped back into reality. She picked it up and popped it in her mouth, followed by her sticking her tongue out at him.
“I was paying attention, Buck. Just saw a spot on wall,” even as she said it out loud, she realized how lame her excuse was. She could feel her face heat up under his intense gaze.
“If you were paying attention, then what was I just saying?” A smirk tugged at the edges of his mouth as he raised his eyebrow at her.
“You were talking about importance of...popcorn?” She quickly hid her face under the blanket they were sharing in embarrassment. She had definitely been caught.
“Popcorn? When would I ever talk about that, you little liar?” He chuckled as he pulled the blanket up and stuck his head under it so he could meet her gaze.
“Hiya,” she grinned at him shyly.
“Hi pretty girl,” he gave her a dazzling smile as he reached for her hand and pulled her closer to him. His touch was electrifying to her, and they both felt the sparks run through their bodies.
She leaned forward and rested her forehead against his. It was a small, but intimate gesture. Things were still new to them and they were still testing the waters, but they flowed together so well. They often didn’t even need to say anything out loud, they both just knew what the other was thinking or going to do.
Nether of them had intended on falling for the other or starting a relationship, but once things started, they couldn’t stop it. After the first night Bucky had revealed himself to her, she knew her feelings for him were real. It progressed quickly and shortly after he had kissed her for the first time - it had been slow and gentle, but perfect. After that they slowly became inseparable.
Y/N knew it was wrong to date someone who was technically your client, but she was wiling to make an exception for him. It wasn’t just her helping him, but he was helping her come to terms with her own issues as well. A sort of yin and yang.
After a few moments of blissful silence, Bucky kissed her cheek gently. She smiled at the feel of his soft lips on her skin. He leaned back against the couch and she laid next to him, resting her head on his chest.
Neither of them said anything as the worry of the following day was slowly sinking in. Bucky’s trial had been going on for over a month now, a hard fought battle from both sides, but Y/N was sure that Matt Murdock was going to win it for Bucky. He had a way of even making the worst situations seem normal or better.
Y/N had watched everything unfold closely on TV, making sure to stay away from social media and the overblown dramatizations. She had made the decision to stay from the courtroom, a decision Bucky was okay with, in order to avoid causing any scandal or someone realizing that they had started a relationship. Instead, she kept herself occupied with her other clients, eagerly waiting to talk to Bucky in the evenings.
But tomorrow, everything was coming to a head, the arguments were concluding and the decision would lie in the hands of the jury. The jury, Y/N had noted, were diverse and of various backgrounds and ages and she hoped that would all be in his favor. They would all find out soon enough.
“I don’t know if I should be freaking out tomorrow, or remain calm,” Bucky let out a long, heavy sigh.
“Don’t be nervous, Bucky. I think Matt’s got this in the bag for you,” she wrapped her arm around him and held onto him as tightly as she could. She just wanted him to feel safe, “people are going to see who you truly are.”
“Who am I? Sometimes I feel like I don’t even know anymore,” he tried to make a joke out of it, but she knew he wasn’t fully joking.
“Bucky, you are a good man. You were forced to do terrible things against your will. You tried to fight back against them, you tried to get your own freedom back. Would a bad person really have done that?”
“It was Steve who really helped me,”
“And so it was. Your best friend through and through. It doesn’t matter how or why you stopped, what matters is that you did. And you haven’t done anything since. I think that speaks to the person you are,” she tilted her head up and looked into his face. His eyes were closed but a small smile was there.
“Thank you. You always know just what to say,”
“I’m not saying anything that isn’t true. You have been burdened with all this pain, and it’s about time you were able to get rid of it. You deserve happiness, just like everyone else,” she snuggled tighter against him and placed a kiss on his chest.
“Thank you,” his voice was soft and barely audible as he started rubbing her back softly. It wasn’t long before the two of them were both asleep, holding each other tightly.
When Y/N woke up the next morning, she was still on the couch, covered with the blanket from the night before. There was no sign of Bucky. She frowned to herself, annoyed she missed him, but saw a note on the table.
I didn’t want to wake you up, you looked too peaceful. I had to leave to meet Matt and go to court. Today’s decision day. I’ll call you as soon as we find out.
She quickly read over his words and felt the knot in her stomach grow. Although she was sure that he would be acquitted, the fact that she didn’t know for sure made her anxious. She didn’t know what she would do if he was found guilty, she hadn’t let herself think that far.
She sighed and got up and got ready to go to work. At least that would keep her mind off of things.
“Dr. Y/L/N?” Her eyes snapped back onto the client in front of her.
“I’m sorry, Jyn. I completely zoned out. It’s not because of you,” she was embarrassed to have been caught off guard by a patient.
“It’s okay,” the young woman gave her a big smile and continued to eat her ice cream sundae. When Jyn had first requested to meet Y/N at her favorite ice cream spot, Y/N was a little surprised, but quickly grew to like the idea when she had some of the best sundaes she had ever had there, “I know we’ve all got lots of things going on, not just me.”
“Oh Jyn, you are important too, and this is about you. I’m sorry. Please continue on,” she gave the young girl a big a smile and took a bite of her melting ice cream.
“I was recently thinking about when I first came home,” her shoulders slumped a little bit, “everyone treated me like a doll. I hated it. I just wanted to be treated like a normal person, because that’s what I am.”
“How did you end up approaching people about that? What did you say to them?”
“Everyone was different. I mostly didn’t tell people, I went along with it,”
“Why?”
“Because it was easier than arguing with them,”
“So you put yourself second to satisfy other people, when they should have been making you their priority,”
“Yes, I suppose so,” Jyn narrowed her eyes and concentrated on her ice cream.
“That’s what I want you to work on for our next meeting. I want you to make yourself the priority and if you disagree with something, speak up. Your opinion matters, okay?”
“Yes, I think I can do that,” she gave Y/N a small, but confidant smile. Her eyes quickly flitted up the large television screen behind Y/N’s head. She watched it for a few seconds before looking back at Y/N, “did you see what’s on TV? The Winter Soldier’s trial is ending today. I hope he gets off. He’s just like all of us, really.”
Y/N’s eyes widened in surprise as she turned around and looked up at the TV. The headline read that the jury was in deliberation, “hey Jyn? I’m sorry to do this, but I’ve got to go, okay?”
“Oh, are you okay?”
“Yes, I’m really sorry. I’ll make it up to you, I swear,” she quickly grabbed her bag and ran out of the ice cream shop. She couldn’t be around any news right now, it would only make her more anxious. She decided to go to her office and do some work. There she could isolate herself at least.
Y/N tapped pen against her notepad; it was empty but for a few hastily scrawled notes. She thought she would be able to work on a paper she had been trying to write, but it was to no avail. Her mind kept circling back to Bucky.
She frowned to herself and made herself turn her attention back to the notepad. She wrote down a few more things, taking the time to make writing immaculate. She jumped a little bit when her phone started buzzing from the corner of her desk. She snatched it up quickly and saw Bucky’s name. She took a breath and swiped to answer it, “Bucky?”
“Y/N, it-it’s fantastic news,” she sighed in relief as the weight in her stomach disappeared, “I’ve been fully pardoned and acquitted.”
“Oh Bucky, that’s the best thing I’ve ever heard,”
“I’m so relieved, I can’t even begin to thank Matt for everything, and you of course,” she could hear the smile in voice. She couldn’t even begin to imagine how he feels.
“I don’t think there’s anything you have to thank me for,”
“I do though. You’ve been there for me and stayed by my side even when you found out all the horrible things I’ve done. And you helped me work through them,”
“I-thank you. It means a lot to hear that. I will always try and help you, Bucky,” her words were like gospel to him. He was so glad she would be by his side.
“You’re like my own angel, Y/N,” he laughed a little bit, “I hope you’re free tonight? I’d like to take you to dinner.”
“I’m always free for you, Bucky. Meet me at the office?”
“I’ll be there in twenty,” she hung up the phone with a smile and started closing up her office, eagerly waiting for Bucky’s arrival.
Shortly after, a soft knock came at her door. She opened it and was met with a sight of a large bouquet of flowers.They were pastel daisies and tulips, her favorites. She quickly grabbed them and clutched them to her heart, “these are beautiful, Bucky. You really didn’t have to.”
“I know, but I wanted to. Flowers for my flower,” she smacked his arm a little bit and he stepped into her office. She grabbed a vase she had sitting on her shelf and popped them into it, filling the vase with water and sitting onto her desk, “they look perfect there.”
“For everyone to see,” she wrapped her arms his neck and stood up on her tiptoes to be eye level with him, “I’m so glad you’re free. Now you can do whatever you want and never have to worry about anything or anyone.”
“I know. For the first time in so long, I fee free and at peace,” he wrapped his own arms around her waist and pulled her flush against his body.
“You deserve it,” she leaned forward and captured his lips with her own. He smiled in her kiss and they only pulled apart when they needed air, “what do you think you’ll do now?”
“There’s so many things,” he gave her a big smile, “but I was thinking about traveling for a while. See all these wonders of the world and I’d like to see Africa too and what not.”
“I think that sounds like a wonderful plan. I’m sure you’ll make lots of great memories,”
“Well, I wasn’t really planning on going alone. I was hoping you’d join me,” he have her a shy smile that melted her heart.
“Really? You want me to come with you?”
“Absolutely,”
“I don’t think there’s anything I’d rather do,” she gave him a quick peck, “or anyone I’d rather go with.”
“Then we’d better go and get dinner quickly so we can pack-”
“Pack?”
“Our flight leaves in the morning. I figured Europe would be a good place to start,” Y/N’s hands flew to her face in surprise. She had never expected they would be leaving this soon.
“Bucky, that’s incredible! I can’t believe you,”
“Surprise!”
“I’ll say,” she jumped a little in excitement, “you’re the best, Bucky Barnes.”
“I’ll be even better with you by my side,” she beamed at his words, large smiles plastered on both their faces. He reached for her hand and opened her office door to lead her away and onto their next adventure.
Could you do blake, yang and velvet's reaction to their s/o saying “maybe i dont feel like sharing you right now”
this was actually supposed to be a bit longer, but as i was writing, i didn’t save the originally file correctly, so had to go based on memory what i had originally wrote for each individual character! this would’ve been up earlier had i not been so careless, but i do hope you don’t mind the slight alteration to the prompt!
BLAKE BELLADONNA
Lying against the cool green of Remnant, you inhaled deeply through your nostrils and exhaled with a large grin. Your eyes closed, you absorbed the comfortable feel of the night air and listened to the quiet lulls of nature. Timid cricket chirps resonated through your ears as you slowly repositioned yourself to sit up. Your eyes slowly made their way to a seemingly occupied Faunus who had her attention focused on her novel.
“Do you always come out at night to read?” you asked, glancing up to the splattered dots of white in the sky above.
At first, the Faunus didn’t reply, only scan her golden irises across the pages while you smiled at her. After turning a separate page, she raised her head and turned to you. “It’s not necessarily the night, just areas that are quiet enough for me to process the content of my books.”
“Ah, I see.” You nodded, groaning as you stretched out your limbs. She lowered her book, setting it aside her as she watched you stand up. “Your still going to meet with Sun later? It’s already kinda late.”
She hesitated, looking to the nearby fireflies before answering. “We have to try as hard as we can in order to help the people of Menagerie. We can’t force them, but the more people we can talk to… The more people that are willing to listen, perhaps we can have them see that not all Humans agree with us being second-class citizens.”
You nodded, following the trail of the luminescent bugs before kneeling in front of her. “I understand. But don’t you think it’s OK to stay here just a bit longer, Blake?”
Her ears lowered for just a moment before she saw you hovering over her. “I’m not leaving right away, I promised you I’d share the time evenly between you and Sun.”
You narrowed your eyes before hovering over her with a playful smirk. You placed your hands on your hips as she wore a quizzical expression. “Well… Maybe I don’t feel like sharing you right now.”
“Come again?” She blinked, her ears standing upright before she found herself being hugged to the ground with a hearty laugh.
YANG XIAO LONG
A loud scream escaped you as you connected fists with the blonde, sending large amounts of gravel and earth into the air with every consecutive blow. Cracking her neck, your sparring partner dodged blasts you sent towards her, bright red energy beams escaping the palms of your hands as her crimson eyes examined your shots. Cautiously the fighter watched your movement, a soft chuckle coming from her as she held a solid stance.
“You have to try harder than that,” she commented, digging the heel of her boot into the ground as the both of you slowly circled one another on the makeshift battleground, “you’re not even landing direct shots.” “The same can be said for you, Yang,” you remarked, clenching your fists, “or are you afraid to hurt me?”
“Don’t give yourself too much credit,” she retorted, smirking as you dashed towards her. “I can whoop your butt in my sleep.”
The two of you made direct eye contact as you closed the distance towards her. The brawler pulled her arm back, ready to not only counter your charge but also double the power she’d receive, but paused as your figure vanished. Yang blinked as you seemed to disappear and reappear next to her at an odd angle. Swiftly she spun around, performing a roundhouse kick that would’ve connected had you not preemptively jumped and sent more energy blasts towards her.
Crossing her arms in an “x” formation, she blocked the beams you charged at her, and flipped backwards. Looking around the area for you, the Huntress grinned. Steam slowly came from the ends of her gauntlets as she remained alert. Momentarily you had escaped her sight, something she both enjoyed and disliked, but knew all too well.“This ol’ trick again? Please.”
Yang pounded her fists together, following quickly by punching the ground and erupting a slab of earth that hovered just before her. In a swift motion, she through the slab against a particular area of the field, making you appear, and forced to confront her. Once again you both were matching your kicks and punches, causing more damage to the area around the longer your sparring took place.
“This isn’t going to end any time soon, will it?” You questioned, huffing.
“Oh, it will, especially when you’re on the ground.” She pressed into you, making you temporarily lose your footing as you clashed with her once more. “Losing your breath already?”
“Huh. I sure hope you don’t have anything planned after this, ‘cause I don’t feel like sharing you right now. You’re too fun.” An excited you charged another energy shot, as Yang in turn prepared a blast from her gauntlet, aiming directly at you. You wouldn’t comment on it, but you watched as her cheeks became a shade of deep cerise.
VELVET SCARLATINA
Velvet’s disposition always captivated you; whether if it was in privacy, in public, or on the battlefield amongst your fellow Hunters, the Faunus carried herself in such a way that was admirable. Her dedication to her friends, how she concerned herself with others, but also stood up for herself when it came to; it was endearing. The way her lips curled upward as she smiled, her genuine laughs if there was a clever joke, and how rosy pink her cheeks became if she were flustered; Velvet had many traits you found not only adorable, but heartwarming.
“Have you seen my camera?” Her soft voice seemed to snap you out of your deep thought of your partner as she turned to you. “I was going to take a few photos of me and Yatsuhashi today before we start training.”
“Oh, I… I have it right here,” you raised your hand, waving her weapon slightly towards her, “I was just looking at it while you were getting ready to leave.”
The Rabbit nodded, adjusting her sleeves as she studied herself in the mirror. Her hair rested on her shoulders as she flexed her hand and moved her fingers a bit, “OK, good. I’ll be gone for a few hours, but I promise to call you once we’re finished.”
You pursed your lips while you steadied your grip on the camera. “Don’t think you train a bit too much? I mean, you and your team are exceptional fighters… Surely you deserve some time off. After all–”
The brunette walked over to you and held up her pointer finger, causing you to abandon your thought. “It’s been awhile since I’ve been able to train with Yatsu. Plus, there are certain techniques he can help me with that I keep falling short on.”
She smiled sweetly at you, making your cheeks warm up a bit. Clearing your throat, you quickly followed her statement, “Well, do you think he’d mind if I tagged along?”
Velvet sat down next to you, blinking before placing her hand on your leg. “Hm… I don’t think he’d mind, Yatsuhashi is a very nice person. Though, I’m not sure if Coco or Fox will pop up, they tend to do that at times. …But this is a first; what made you want to tag along? Normally you are with your team, not so much as minding when I–”
“Because maybe I don’t feel like sharing you right now.” You interrupted, staring deeply into her chocolate pools and causing an immediate flustered expression from her. Her cheeks were a deep scarlet, and she froze as you moved slightly closer to her. “I just… We haven’t seen one another in awhile and… I want to spend more time with you. Just you.”
Future predictions/Jashi/ending
Well, we’ve come down to the final five and I still say they should’ve made it 13 episodes like the previous seasons but who knows maybe gendy thought it was enough. Anyway It’s been a friggin’ blast so far, there hasn’t been a dull episode at all. Seeing jacks character going through this drastic chance since we last saw him in the fourth season 12 years ago, he want from hopeful and determined to lost and broken. So the point of this post is to make predictions on what’s going to happen in the remaining 5 episodes.
Future predictions
Well from what I pretty much guessed since the third episode, I had a hunch that for the final episode there was going to be an all out war between all the people Jack has saved and aku. And seeing the newest episode pretty much confirmed it, when the Scotsman said “we’ll raise up a bigger army” and he’ll find jack. This leads me to believe that he intends Jack to lead them in the revolution to take earth back from aku, honestly it makes sense that it would go down this route. Also seeing the preview for this upcoming episode (6) we see that the woollies have made a return saying “we won’t allow you to hurt the samurai”…here’s a thought what if they’ve been planning this for years all the people that jack has saved and waiting for the right moment to come together and fight (plays godsmacks cover of come together) My prediction is by end of episode eight we will see it all come together. Like Imagine the Scotsman appearing at the end of the episode saying “Jack you need to come with us laddy” and there’s a whole massive camp of all the people Jack’s saved. He’s like “we’re going war and we need a leader” and episode 9 I would think would mostly be about Jack preparing everybody. I see Jack, ashi and The Scotsman taking lead. Pure bad assness 🤘🏻 Another prediction I have comes from the preview of the upcoming episode. When the woollies say “are you sure she was the one ? Aku’s bounty hunter ?” Now, this could be a stretch but what if… One of Ashi’s sisters survived the fall off the cliff at the end of episode 3. My guess is the one with the spear, because she was simply thrown off…not like the other one who got punched so hard that her neck literally snapped. What if the sister with the spear survived and continued her hunt looking for jack ? And made a name for herself. I mean why else with the woollies mistaken ashi for this so called “aku’s bounty hunter” if she didn’t look similar to them. Which in reality all of the sisters were similar in appearance except for their hair styles. So what if, near the end of the season she makes an appearance and Jack and Ashi have to fight her. I think that would be pretty cool actually.
Jashi
Now with the way the episodes of been going so far and with the new preview we know it’s coming. It’s just a matter of how fast it’ll progress. I’ve mentioned it in a recent post how the last shot of the preview of her looking up with the rhinestone eyes makes it look more like “she’s developing romantic feelings for him” eyes, not “I need to find my friend” “that’s my dad” eyes. Now that being said I don’t put down the people on Tumblr that see them more as a father/daughter or mentor/Student team but this is just what I see. people also can say that it’s unproven information but it’s the vibe that I feel and I simply see it more as a romantic thing then anything else and given the clues and foreshadowing that we have gotten in the previous episodes….you can see why some of us jashi fans are optimistic about it. There has also been the whole yin and Yang observation going around about how they’re both very similar but very different and can balance each other out. Which honestly makes a whole lot of sense, ashi was raised in the darkness but was brought into the light, while Jack bathed in the light and has descended into darkness, which by the next episode she will definitely save him before he does something he’ll regret and this just proves to me that they are meant for each other. Anyway I feel like a broken record repeating the same things I’ve said in previous posts and I know there are other tumblers that go into far more detail than I do lol but yeah I’m still going to stand by my prediction and say by the end of episode seven they’re going to kiss, I’m calling it 👍🏻
Ending
Well as I’ve said there’s going to be a war between the innocent inhabitants of earth versus Aku and his minions. It’s going to be an epic battle to the finish there will probably be casualties as well. I see the Scotsman taking charge of everyone while Jack and ashi go on ahead to face Aku, I also see the high priestess confronting them with aku and it’ll probably end up being A two on two battle MAYBE (just a prediction) anyway if all of you have seen that one spoiler video that was posted of the ending” of the series by @burstangelmay It shows the voice actor of jack and the voice actresses of Ashi and the high priestess in the recording room, showing what looks to be a scene from the final episode. There was a description underneath the video saying during the battle ashi dies, YES I know I’m upset too but there’s more to that. It also says it gives Jack the strength and power to slay Aku for good. Now what I imagine it would happen is that all of the minions and robots that are powered by a Aku would immediately disappear, because if their master is no longer around why should they be right ? I’d imagine after they find out Jack has won and Ashi was killed in battle, we get a pretty emotional scene of her funeral. Then it cuts to a few years later and Jack (who has become king) has come back to the portal that the guardian was keeping safe. I imagine there is a intense fight between the two but Jack ultimately overpowers him and beats him, making him worthy to use the portal and instead of actually going back to his own time he goes back to that moment before ashi is killed, destroys aku and saves her life. Because of the change in time future jack begins to fade from existence now, because the whole reason of them going back in time was to save ashi and now that she’s alive jack has no reason to use the portal now because he can spend the rest of his life with Ashi happy and they can BOTH rebuild the future together. Gendy did say the ending would “have people bawling” and it makes total sense that this would be the ending. Now I have NO IDEA if the leak was real or not but I’m honestly leaning towards real because it seems like a possible ending and I would be totally satisfied with it. Because jack needs a goddamn happy ending, not a depressing or bittersweet ending…happy ! 😌
I really don’t want this show to end but it would be nice for gendy’s next project they can make a continuation show just called “jack and ashi” and it follows them a few years later. Now I’m not a HUGE fan of next generation type things because it’s super cliché but they have a daughter, The whole series would be jack in Ashi going throughout the world purging the remaining of Aku’s evil. What evil you say ? well his robot in minions may be gone but not the people who worshipped him. What if the cult of aku that raised ashi was still around in hiding preparing a resurgence. Yeah this is a stretch but what if the cult does some necromancer shit and brings back the rest of Ashi’s sisters (assuming they kill the one sister I mentioned) and uses them to kidnap Jack and ashi’s child. That alone is enough motivation to make maybe one or two seasons. You’re probably thinking why would they kidnap of their daughter well what if they needed another child to make seven members of The daughters of Aku again and sacrifice them too resurrect aku. Obviously it wouldn’t be as simple as that because they would have to try and brainwash Jack and ashi’s daughter and they couldn’t use Ashi herself because the evil has been purged from her and is now righteous. Anyway ! I’ve gone on long enough lol
I have no idea who else is going to read this but if you have any predictions and speculations of what will happen or if you agree with me with what I said then talk away cause I’m open to hearing what everyone has to say 😋👍🏻
Fandom: RWBY Pairing/Characters: Weiss Schnee/Yang Xiao Long Rating: Mature Prompt: 003. funeral Wordcount: ~2200 Summary: It's the latest funeral in a seemingly-endless stream of them. Their life is dangerous and the next service could be either of theirs, but Weiss won't let more time slip by without trying to make this work with Yang. Notes/Warnings: Off-screen original character death, funeral, hurt/comfort, alternate universe: no attack on Beacon, downer ending, implied major character death
When they're out of sight of the funeral pyre, Weiss molds herself to Yang's side, wrapping her arm around the other woman's waist. Yang throws an arm over her shoulder without breaking stride.
The service hadn't been for anyone they knew personally. Not this time. No, this time it was for one of Taiyang's old classmates. He'd been one of those Hunters who never settled down, the ones who lived or died by the Hunt. Yang would be that way, if not for Weiss, Blake, and Ruby giving her a port in the storm, a reason to come back to civilization and the people in it.
(It's mostly Weiss. Ruby is happy so long as Yang is, Blake is nearly one of those Huntresses herself. Weiss insists on Yang coming out to dinner with her at decent restaurants, on Yang staying with her in Schnee Mansion when she's in Vale, sharing Weiss' hotel room in other places. Yang has never once complained. They don't talk about it, but it's understood: Weiss refuses to lose Yang to the Hunt, and Yang cares for her enough to let herself be kept from it.)
"Too many funerals," Yang says on the walk back to her father's house. She's quiet, as much from exhaustion as emotion. They'd been asleep in a hotel in Vale when Taiyang called, and had come out to Patch immediately. Weiss had gotten just as little sleep as Yang had, but she took better care of herself in general than Yang did.
Weiss doesn't reply out loud. She pushes up the side of Yang's shirt, resting her palm on Yang's bare skin. Yang sighs, a little of the tension leaking out of her. Weiss strokes gentle fingers over Yang's side, and Yang brushes her lips over Weiss' hair.
The door to Taiyang's house creaks open, and they step inside. Yang stops in the living room, with the air of a woman who meant to do something but can't quite remember what it was. Weiss steps in front of her, tilting Yang's chin toward her.
Yang looks terrible. The circles under her eyes shine nearly black, and she keeps stopping herself from swaying due to exhaustion. There's still muscle rippling under her skin, but the curves that used to soften it have nearly disappeared. Weiss wants to steal her away to Vale, force her to rest and eat and take some time to enjoy life. She spends so much time fighting so others can live happy lives, but never wants to stop and take advantage of the fruits of her labor.
"You're going to lie down," Weiss tells her, dropping her hand, "and I am going to make you some food."
A faint smile quirks the corner of Yang's lips. "You, cook?" She doesn't try to argue about lying down, which is good because it wasn't a request. It was an order.
"I am perfectly capable of making a sandwich without burning the kitchen down," Weiss says, raising an eyebrow.
"I'll believe it when I eat it," Yang says. She leans down to brush her lips over Weiss'.
They're rarely affectionate this way, but Weiss thinks Yang would be if Weiss were more welcoming of it. So when Yang moves to straighten up, Weiss curls fingers into the front of her shirt, keeping her in place. Yang makes a soft surprised sound, but doesn't fight Weiss' grip.
Weiss spent the entire service staring at the pyre, remembering how many funerals they've already been to since graduating Beacon. They're barely twenty-three, but between their classmates at Beacon, Ruby's uncanny ability to befriend everyone she meets, and Blake's Menagerie connections, Weiss has lost count of how many times she's seen a body either burned or buried. Or worse, how many times there's been no body to care for. The next time could be Yang. She's played her cards close to the vest for too long already; if she loses Yang without giving her so much as an idea of how much she means to Weiss, it will destroy her.
When they break, Yang's eyes are soft. Weiss can't remember the last time she saw that sort of adoration in Yang. Back at Beacon, probably.
"Go lie down," Weiss says, letting go of Yang's shirt. "I'll bring you a plate."
Despite Yang's playful jibe, it doesn't take Weiss long to put together a simple meal for the two of them. She doesn't know this kitchen well - she's only been here a handful of times, and generally Yang and Taiyang exile everyone else from their space while they cook - but there are only so many places to keep the ingredients for sandwiches, and the milk and potato chips are easy enough to find.
Yang has obediently lain down on her bed, eyes opening when Weiss sits down next to her. She sits up, moving backward to prop herself up against the headboard. Weiss sets the plate bearing their food down on Yang's bedside table, leaning in for another kiss.
The other woman stills against her, and for a moment Weiss thinks she's overdone it. Then Yang's hand comes to rest on the back of her neck, and Weiss relaxes. The touch is hesitant, but the way Yang's mouth opens under hers is more sure.
They kiss, slow and open-mouthed and, yes, a little shy. Weiss isn't used to kissing Yang outside of sex, and even then only rarely, but she doesn't mind this. She enjoys it, if she's being honest with herself.
(And she has to be honest with herself, now. Yang is an amazing fighter, but she's also been adrift since graduation, taking missions wherever she ends up, only keeping in intermittent contact. More often than not she wanders without any backup, and without anyone knowing more than her very general location. All it takes is one Grimm sneaking up on her in the dead of night, and she'll be the next funeral without a body to burn. Weiss doesn't know that Yang will be willing to change her habits, but it's either ask her to try, or let her go. Letting her go has never been an option.)
"You're being really sweet today," Yang whispers, her eyes searching Weiss'. "You know I didn't know that guy, right? He was just one of Dad's old friends."
"I know," Weiss says, reaching for the plate, "now eat."
When they've finished the food, Weiss sets the plate aside and slides into the bed next to Yang. They're both still in their mourning clothes - simple white cloth, the tradition unfamiliar to Weiss but honored out of respect for the deceased - but Weiss lets that go as a problem for the morning. She tugs Yang down to lie on her side facing away from Weiss, and wraps herself around the larger woman as best she can. They don't normally sleep this close, but Weiss wants the reassurance, and Yang doesn't protest.
Weiss falls asleep to the sound of Yang's deep breathing, and dreams of nothing at all.
[*]
The next day finds Weiss up with the dawn. She's not quite rested enough - or perhaps too much so - but her mind is restless, pulling her out of bed and onto the porch. She stares out into the sunrise, thoughts chasing one another with no real resolution in sight.
It isn't long before Yang pads out to sit next to her. She hands Weiss a cup of coffee, and Weiss very nearly skips her prepared speech and asks Yang to marry her right then and there. The coffee is precisely the shade that Weiss would have made for herself, and when she takes a sip, it has sugar exactly the way she likes it. She takes her second sip with a moan of pleasure, and watches Yang blush out of the corner of her eye.
Yang lets her get most of the way through the cup before she shifts closer. Someone else might think nothing of it, but Weiss knows it's an offer. She sets her cup to the side, and draws her legs up to her chest, curling into Yang's shoulder. Yang exhales shakily.
In the end, Weiss' prepared speech fails her anyway. It would help if used on Weiss herself, would illuminate and explain the situation, but Yang is not her. Yang operates on instinct, on snap decisions and intuition. She's honest to a fault, open in ways that make Weiss shy away to think on. If Weiss wants Yang to meet her halfway, there has to be motion on Weiss' end as well.
"I love you," Weiss says simply. "And I want you in my life for the foreseeable future."
Yang jerks. Weiss can feel her body move as her head whips to the side, but she doesn't look up.
"Weiss... are you proposing?" Yang's voice is choked with so many emotions that Weiss doesn't know where to start with untangling them.
Weiss shakes her head. "No. I worry every time we meet that it will be the last time I'll see you. Our life is dangerous, Yang, but it doesn't need to be nearly as much so as you make it." She looks up, steely blue meeting violet. "I won't be a Hunter's wife, always waiting for that letter. I want to.. to formalize what we have, but more than that, I want you to take care with your own life."
"Woah, Weiss," Yang scrubs a hand over her face. "Back up a little. I thought we were just-- I mean we've been... y'know... since Beacon, but I didn't think you..." Yang winces, but finishes, "...cared."
Weiss sits up, spearing Yang with a harsh look. "Yang Xiao Long, I know you don't mean that."
Yang shakes her head. "I know you care, I just didn't know that this... mattered to you." Yang's eyes skitter away from hers. "I mean... this. Us. Whatever we are."
Softening, Weiss gently turns Yang's head so she's meeting Weiss' eyes again. "It does. I apologize for making you think it didn't."
Yang huffs out a laugh. "First you propose, then you apologize? Am I dreaming?"
Weiss searches her eyes for a moment, then leans in. "Does this feel like a dream?"
Their lips meet, and Yang pulls Weiss into her lap. Weiss only meant to kiss her once, chastely, but she finds herself trying to pour her emotions into it, trying to make Yang understand that she values her. That this matters. Yang kisses her back just as intensely, her hands coming up to frame Weiss' face.
"I thought..." Yang's eyes stay closed, and Weiss can see tears shimmering in the corner of them. "I thought I was just gonna be in love with you."
Weiss feels something in her break. "Yang..." She strokes her thumb over Yang's jaw. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"I figured you knew." Yang's eyes open, and seeing pain there makes everything a hundred times worse. "I'm not..." She laughs without a hint of humor. "I'm not subtle, Weiss. I've had like a million people ask me if you're good to me."
"And I haven't been," Weiss' heart drops. "I didn't... I didn't know. I promise you, Yang, I didn't know."
Yang nods, slow. "I believe you."
Weiss studies her face, swallowing hard. "I understand if you don't wish to... pursue this with me. Ignorance is no excuse; I should have been better to you."
Yang's hand slides in under her shirt, stroking her skin. She nods, more acknowledgement than agreement. "I... need to think. That okay?"
When Weiss moves to climb off of her, Yang's arms tighten around her. "Can we stay like this for a bit?"
"Of course," Weiss says, settling.
They stay in place until the sky is finished painting reds and golds over the porch, warm on Weiss' back. Yang's scroll blares through the open window, and she kisses Weiss apologetically, going inside to answer it.
It's a callback about a mission Yang had been chasing down, and she leaves that night. Weiss watches her go with fearful eyes.
She never gets her answer.
I Would Totally Kick Jiraiya’s Butt Chapter 7
I groaned and yawned as I woke up with a fuzzy head. I started rubbing my eyes as I sat up a bit.
Then I went back down and almost fell asleep. I didn't actually fall asleep, however, because of a knock on my door. "In a minute," I managed to get out, then rolled off the bed. I eventually managed to get up and open the door to the sight of a woman of the main branch family, if I remembered right. "Sleepy," I blearily muttered as an excuse. I probably had bedhead, which added to the image.
She chuckled. "So this is why you don't let anyone in your room in the morning hours," she said jokingly.
I grunted, licked my lips, then said, "I must look like a little death, huh?" I snapped my fingers at my vanity and my brush and comb flew over thanks to the wind attribute in Kurama's chakra, then started un-messing my hair. She just stared at me incredulously. "So what do yo- ah!" I was interrupted by the brush trying to force through a particularly bad knot. They stopped long enough for me to sort out the knot, then continued. "I told you two to stop if that happens," I chided. I gave the woman whose name I couldn't remember at the moment a small, polite smile and explained, "A jutsu that I made that animates things. I unfortunately don't have enough enough chakra to use anything practical in a fight yet, but I can use it for laziness." I shrugged. "Sure, I have to charge them up every so often or they'll die, but they're pretty nice. So what do you need from me?"
"...Hiashi-sama asked me to give you this, and not to look inside it," she said as she handed me a messenger bag. I grunted a "thanks" and opened it to see a couple of scrolls, a large book, and a file. "If I might ask, what exactly is in that?"
"Top-secret fuinjutsu stuff," I muttered as I opened the file to see medical records and a picture of a small boy with red hair and shadows around his eyes. "If anyone asks, you never saw this. Talk to Father if you really want to know, but just know it comes from Hokage-sama." I put the file back and took the book out. I raised my eyebrows when I realized that it looked like a primer on the theory of poison. "Thanks... uh..." I thought for a moment. "Sorry, I should know this, I'm still a little asleep... Yuri-san?"
"It's actually Yuriko, Kouki-kun," she politely corrected. "My mothers had a laugh at that one..." I thought about asking about that, then decided that that'd be prying a bit and just gave a small, flat, "Ha." She smiled and said, "I'm going to go now. Good luck with your project."
I sat down at my desk after she left and pulled out all of the scrolls and the file. I sorted through the scrolls, putting the jutsu scrolls back in the bag. When I was done I looked through the final scroll, which was about Gaara's seal. I frowned and ran my fingers through my hair when I was done. "This doesn't make any sense..." I muttered. "Either I'm missing something or Gaara really shouldn't be having as many problems as he has... Maybe it's something to do with Shukaku in particular?"
I opened the file on Gaara back up to see what I could gleam from that. "Nothing too useful, it turns out..." I sighed. I might have been able to do something with the stuff about his chakra and the symptoms that they knew for sure were from Shukaku, but I'd probably need to consult Kurama first, and he was... actually it was really surprising, but he was playing with Hinata, so I couldn't talk to him. Then I noticed a small sealing tag included with the papers. I picked it up and immediately recognized it as a used Inner Demon Calming Seal. A sticky note on it said that the Kazekage had Gaara use one for practice so I'd have a baseline, which was really good on his part. Would have to tell him he done good.
I took it, pulled out a blank scroll, put the tag on the scroll, and made a half ram seal. Words flowed out of the seal and onto the scroll, forming the statistics on Gaara. I nodded. It looked like the scan function was working perfectly, and the data I got from it was pretty good. I already had the beginnings of an idea just from that, though I decided I should probably consult Kurama before actually trying to work on it as a precaution.
When I was done, I made a half dragon seal and pulled the tag from the scroll. The words peeled off with the scroll, and as I flipped the tag around and put it down, the words reconstituted into a sort of spherical barrier that allowed a ball of red chakra to emerge from the seal without dispersing into the air. I frowned as I saw the size of it. "The regulator's off..." The idea was that the seal would take only a little bit extra of Shukaku's chakra from what it was using to suppress Shukaku for me to play with, but there was a lot more than what I was expecting. "Or maybe it's just that Shukaku wasn't trying to break free or fighting at all," I realized with a shrug. "Meh." I made another half ram seal with my left hand and an empty sealing circle formed on it. I shoved my hand into the containment barrier and the red chakra flowed into the seal, forming a slash in the middle, the kanji for one.
kukukuku~
I knocked on the door. Thankfully, the seal on my hand had disappeared after it settled down like Naruto's. That would've been hard to hide if it hadn't... Because I could feel that nobody was around, I revealed the seal for a bit to inspect it while I waited for someone to open the door. When I felt Tenko about to open the door, I let it fade again and shoved my hands into my pockets. "Hey, Uzumaki-san," I said with a small smile.
"Kouki-kun," she greeted back. "Are you here to see Naruto-kun?" I nodded and she let me inside. The house was nice. It wasn't nearly as big as the Hyūga compound, for obvious reasons, but it was pretty big for a family of four. Probably because of the prestige of the Uzumaki clan, even if said clan was only the four members.
"How's he settling in?" I asked.
"Kouki!" Naruto shouted as he waved enthusiastically at me, then went back to climbing on Ai.
"Hey, kid," Ai greeted as Naruto managed to get to and start pushing on her face. "A little help, honey? Please?" Tenko giggled and picked Naruto up off of Ai, earning a peck on the cheek as thanks. "Thanks, sweetie."
I chuckled. "So he's settling in nice, then?" I inferred, then beckoned for Naruto. "C'mere, Naruto. I wanna tell you something."
Tenko put him down, but he frowned and didn't come to me. "Why do you have that weird feeling that all the mean people have, Kouki-kun?" he asked me.
I internally sighed and, not for the first time, was glad that my general lack of major emoting most of the time kept my annoyance from really showing. Naruto had noted feeling the malice of others recently, which was from my giving Kurama his yin power back. Still, though, it shouldn't have been strong enough to passively sense what little malice I could generate towards him... I extended my (unfortunately still weak passively) malice sense towards him, or rather his seal, and felt a sort of smug malice coming from Kurama, which made more sense. I sent him a little message of "you suck" and told Naruto, "I dunno, but are you gonna ignore my advice?" He shrugged and walked over to me, allowing me to give him a light chop to the head. On the plus side, I was conditioning him to equate malice directed at him with pain, hopefully.
"Hey!" he complained.
"Don't throw away Gudō Dama, stupid," I chided.
"I don't even know what that is!"
"Powerful but finicky jutsu that you might get in the future if events line up, and in my visions you stupidly hamstrung your ability to use two fifths of it like an hour after getting it by throwing two of them into a Chibaku Tensei in another space-time. Don't do that for real."
"What happened to not punishing people for things they haven't done yet?"
I shrugged. "That was for having the potential stupid to throw away Gudō Dama. You don't even want to know what I'll do if I learn you do it without a good enough reason." Then, I heard the frantic footsteps of a young girl and turned around to see Tenten staring at me with an elated expression. "'Sup," I said.
"Naruto-kun said that you have healing powers!" Tenten said.
"Yeah, but not the kind just anyone can use, if that's what you're asking." Her face fell. "But if it's healing jutsu you want to learn, then you should know that you have a bit of an advantage with yang release, which you need for medical release."
"Yes!" she shouted and threw her hands in the air. "I wanna be like Tsunade, she's this really cool kunoichi who's a really good healer!"
Ai pouted. "I'm a cool kunoichi too... And I have weapons... It's because I'm only a special jōnin, isn't it?"
I nodded. "Tsunade's got some bad habits that I'm pretty sure your moms would like very much if you never pick up," they both agreed emphatically, "and you don't need to be a medic to be cool, but if you really, really wanna know how to heal people, then..." I took my hand out of my pocket, and a leaf appeared on it. "The other half of the equation is chakra control, so get cracking." I used a chakra thread to put it in her hands. "Well, there's knowledge needed too, but the biggest parts are yang release and chakra control."
"How did you do that?" Ai asked me, amazed.
I pulled down my sleeve, revealing a wristband with a storage seal on it. Really, why don't more people do that? It's awesome and useful. "I made a waterproof storage seal wristband with variable output, which is a lot more practical than you'd think if you do it right, by the way," I explained.
Ai gave me an eager look that made me feel like stars should have appeared in her eyes, and said, "Teach me your ways, master."
"Hey, I don't actually know how this leaf helps me with chakra control," Tenten complained.
"Naruto," I ordered. He took my meaning immediately and went over to help his new sister with her leaf. I turned back to Ai and said, "Right, so the first thing you need to know is that you can put seals on fabric surprisingly easily..."
kukukuku~
My eyes closed and my body absolutely still as I sat cross-legged under the shade of the tree, I pondered what Kurama and I had talked about in regards to Gaara's seal. "If I use it like that, the side-effects would actually be beneficial," I thought to myself as I formulated the beginnings of a plan. My thoughts shifted, however, when I finally managed to begin to feel the ebb and flow of the energy of the world around me after what felt like an hour of meditation. Without my eye's secondary powers, I doubted that I would've been able to stop fidgeting for that long... Thankfully, the fact that I wasn't using toad oil to feel the natural energy meant that I didn't immediately start drawing on it, because at my chakra level, that would've probably been bad. Without even opening my eyes, which I wasn't even sure I could do without breaking my tenuous natural energy sensing, I focused on the blue chakra in my hand.
My idea was to combine the natural energy outside of my body until I felt I could do proper sage mode so as to circumvent the danger of using sage chakra. Kurama laughed that idea off at first when I'd told him, saying that there was no way I'd be able to add the natural energy to already-completed chakra until I'd actually managed to get the feel of sage chakra. I then told him that one of my failed attempts at yin-yang release involved me somehow managing to split my chakra back into its constituent parts and then recombining them outside of my body, which made him shut up. I thought back to when I managed to do it, then tried to recreate the feat. As is my curse, actually trying to do it somehow made it exponentially more difficult, though I just barely managed to puzzle it out. After that, I started working on recombining it, but with some extra natural energy. I almost got it... almost... almost...
"Hey, you!" I lost it. I sighed, looked over the two chakra signatures that approached me, one of which had a suspiciously familiar signature to it that I honestly shouldn't have been too shocked about given who was writing the story, and opened my eyes to see a blonde girl about my age in front of me with a shy-looking pink-haired girl behind her.
"I-Ino-chan, you don't have to..." Oh, right. Sakura was really shy when she was a little kid.
I licked my lips. "Nah, it's okay. I was almost done anyway... Whaddya want?"
"Why were you talking to that one kid earlier," Ino asked. She was referring to how Naruto was talking to me while I was meditating a bit earlier before going to play ninja with Tenten, Hinata, and Neji. "Our parents keep telling us not to talk to him."
I gave her my "I'm silently judging you" glare and said, "If anyone ever spent so much as two seconds getting to know Naruto they'd know he isn't a demon that has become quite jaded with most of humanity on account of their exploitative ways," eliciting a "What?" from both of them. "If either of your parents have problems not judging an innocent boy for events that happened literally on the day of his birth, then they can take it up with the Hokage." An idea came to me and I smirked. "Naruto's actually really friendly, you might like him. If you two want, I can probably get you in their game." I looked at Sakura and gave her a small, wry smile. "Plus, I think the two of you might be family."
Ino sighed. "Why does everyone think that everyone with blonde hair is a Yamanaka?" she asked. "Not everyone with the same hair color are clan members!"
"I already knew that, Yamanaka Ino, heiress of the Yamanaka clan." I internally laughed at her face. "I believe there are some redhead Yamanaka, so explain that. Plus zero members of the current Uzumaki clan, despite three of them having chakra that suggests they inherited at least part of the bloodline, have the traditional Uzumaki red hair. No, I meant your pink-haired friend, who for some reason has a chakra signature that reminds me of members of the Senju and Uzumaki, plus with something else vaguely bloodliney that I haven't seen before. Probably foreshadowing for something."
Sakura blinked. "I'm part of the Uzumaki and Senju clans?" she asked.
I shrugged. "Could be close, could be distant. Uzumaki's an offshoot of Senju and I've only ever felt three confirmed Uzumaki, plus I've got nothing to compare that third, totally-something-that'll-come-up-later bloodline to, so that could also be something. Heck, it's so much of a jumble I wouldn't be surprised if you're from a third line descended from Ōtsutsuki Ashura that I somehow don't know about."
"A what?" Sakura asked.
I hummed. "The only thing about that that you really need to worry about is that you more likely than not have a longer lifespan and life energy than your average person. And if you wanna be a ninja, I suggest looking at medical ninjutsu. Tsunade the medical genius got to be so good from a combination of her advantage in yang release granted by having a Senju and an Uzumaki as grandparents and her skill with chakra control." I pointed at Tenten. "That's Tenten. Speak to her if you're curious. She really likes Tsunade."
Sakura blinked. "Thank you."
"It's cool," I said. "I'm gonna play now. You in?"
kukukuku~
"Hey, you!" a voice that I'm pretty sure was Sakura's mom said. I confirmed with a bit of chakra-sensing.
I turned around to see her. "Hello, Haruno-san."
She fliched. "How did you know my name?"
"I may not look it, but I'm skilled with chakra-sensing," I explained. "You share a... peculiarity in your chakra with your daughter." So my theory about that third thing in Sakura's chakra having to do with Ashura was probably shot, considering the fact that her mom had it and not the Uzumaki and Senju stuff.
"Right, well I don't like you telling my daughter to talk to talk to that Naruto boy."
I gave her a faux-confused stare. "What's wrong with him?"
As I expected, she blanched. "Well... he's..."
I decided to push a bit further. "Give me one good reason for all the abuse he's had at the hands of the village. One thing he's done that would change my mind. Burden of proof." After some more of her grasping for a good reason, I continued with a glare. "I know about the Kyūbi, by the way, and that's not a good reason." I made sure nobody was around before elaborating. "He's not the fuzzball, and if it weren't for him neither of us would be alive. Nor would your daughter, your husband, or just about anyone you've ever known and loved. Why then?"
"I... I-"
I snorted. "Save it. You're not gonna rationalize your way out of that moral quandary." I pulled out the used Inner Demon Calming Seal tag, then replaced the used-up sealing formula with a fresh one. "If it really bothers you that your kid's friends with the jinchuriki, this thing can be used to suppress Fuzzy's chakra, at least as long as... it... is still at least partially in Naruto." Calling Kurama it felt dirty. That's probably a good thing. "It's practically the best thing you can have when dealing with an out-of-control jin...chu..." I trailed off as it finally hit me just what I made. "Fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu-" I internally screamed.
She blinked. "It's okay. I don't need this. You're right."
"-uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu-" I put the seal back away and said, "Yeah that's probably for the best... Hang on, I need to make a call real quick." I closed my eyes and reached out with my telepathy to Sarutobi's office.
"I already took care of it," Hiruzen told me immediately upon picking up. He was getting real nonchalant about having someone randomly use telepathy on him...
"-uuuuuuuu... huh?"
"Do you think I didn't realize how Akatsuki could use your seal?" he asked. "Rest assured, I informed the Kazekage of the gravity of it and why he should be careful with who he gives that information to. I also managed to put a genjutsu on it that should hopefully use Sasori's jutsu to induce memory loss. Theoretically, anyway. I'm not the best at genjutsu and I haven't seen Sasori's jutsu."
"Thanks," I mentally sighed. "I really dropped the ball there, huh?"
He mentally chuckled. "To be fair, you are still a child. You might still want to check in on Sasori."
"Will do. Bye." I opened my eyes back up. "Right, where were we?" I asked before realizing she was gone. "Meh, I'm sure everything's fine now."
I sighed and licked my lips as I looked at the two balls of "sage" chakra in my hands. One was blue and one was red, but I was a little disappointed with the conversion time of both, even after multiple full days of practice. Almost five minutes for a small amount of blue chakra and a little over twice that for an equal amount of red. I wasn't going to be able to use that in combat anytime soon... Though I suppose it was better than my first time of about an hour for blue. "I guess it still works for what I need it for," I sighed, then shrugged as I considered the blue chakra. With Kurama's and my calculations, it was doubtful that I'd need any more than a small amount of blue sage chakra, so I just traded a bit of chakra between my hands and reabsorbed the mostly blue chakra. It wasn't much of a boost, but I definitely felt a buzz from it that felt pretty nice.
After that, I pulled out the little bug cage thing I got for the other component I needed for the jutsu I'd thought of. That other thing being the bugs that I had. Well, any animal would do, but I wanted to start small and with something that I would hopefully not feel guilt over killing. Of course, that meant that I barely had any material to work with, just a couple of flies that I'd managed to convince Hinata to catch while I was meditating. I looked at them for a few minutes, took a few deep breaths, and said, "Sorry, little guys." I channeled the demonic sage chakra into the bugs, pouring all of the chakra evenly into them. The flies took on a look similar to a stage two chakra cloak but without the tail before beginning to compress and converge on each other.
The idea was to use the mutative properties of natural energy overload to change them into something I could use. Theoretically, I could have used less demon sage chakra than complete saturation, but I decided that with how easy it was to saturate the flies, I would just do that and observe closely to see if I could glean the proper form for that and not have to go through trial and error. After about a minute, they had fully compressed and fused together into a small red crystal with a light glow. I sighed when I saw that it was pebble-sized, about a centimeter in diameter. Sure, I wasn't expecting to pull an adequately-sized crystal out of a few flies, but I was hoping for a little more... I ran my fingers through my hair and picked up the pebble. "I guess it's fine for now..." I muttered, then reached down my shirt to stick it on my sternum, hidden away. A seal blossomed on my skin, collecting the very minute amount of demon sage chakra that the stone was generating. Until I had a bigger one, that was the best use for it I could think of.
Imagine that one French narrator voice from Sponebob saying "One month later."
"So that's probably a good structure for the seal, right?" I asked, swinging my legs in the air. I was honestly surprised that the blood hadn't rushed to my head yet; I was sitting upside-down on the couch. Something something tree-walking, probably.
Ai shrugged. "Probably."
"Yeah, Shukaku's a slippery bastard, but that should about do it," Kurama agreed, curled up on another seat.
"Seal team meeting adjourned?" I asked, then got nods from the both of them. "Adjourned. Now that we're done, I remembered something I wanted to ask you, Ai."
"Shoot, kid."
I smirked and picked up a cookie from the plate on the table (using chakra threads, obviously). I took a bite from it, then after I swallowed said, "Your wife makes amazing cookies."
She blushed lightly. "Okay first, you skipped over the question. Second, she's only my girlfriend. We're not even engaged yet." I gave her a flat look and raised an eyebrow, causing her blush to deepen to the proper Uzumaki shade of red. "I'm still looking for a ring..." she muttered.
I looked up/down at her and interlaced my hands. "Good, you two feel like an old married couple already. Now, what do you know about the Adamantine Sealing Chains?"
Ai sighed deeply. "I still can't figure it out, even after I asked Kushina for advice years ago," she grumbled. "I'm still not entirely sure it's a Kekkei Genkai and not a Hijutsu..."
"Technically it's both," Kurama said. "If I recall correctly, it's technically a Hijutsu that uses the special chakra of the Uzumaki. You should be able to figure it out if you know enough of how to use it, though."
Ai frowned. "How did you... Right... Hey, if you know so much about it from Kushina, do you have any tips to using it?"
Kurama shrugged. "I didn't really pay too much attention to it because I couldn't think of any way I could possibly use it to break out of the seal, and that was really all I was thinking of at the time... I know that you should be able to do it more easily if you manage it at least once, but I can't help you with that."
"I have an idea," I offered.
Kurama sighed, got up, and said, "Why do I feel like I'm not going to like this?"
"If it's part Kekkei Genkai, then you might find it easier to do it if you have more power behind you instead of harder."
"The math checks out, but I still don't like where this is going," Kurama complained. The red gem I'd made, now completed, dropped from under my shirt and into my hand. It had that one gem shape, sort of like a kunai but without the handle, though it was about half the scale of a kunai. "FUCK. NO." Kurama looked at me with with what probably should have been abject terror if he had the ability to make expressions. "Kouki, no!"
"Kouki yes," I countered flatly.
"Fuck this," Kurama said, then ran for the opened door. He stopped at the doorway, said "Kurama is out. Peace," and noped off as fast as his little legs could carry him.
"Should I be concerned by Kurama's reaction to that?" Ai asked.
I shrugged. "Unless you have objections to temporarily gaining phenomenal cosmic power, not particularly. I'll use my eyes to make sure I give you about as much as you can take without adverse effects, maybe a bit less. Kurama's just a wuss."
She nodded. "Cool. So what is that?"
"Demon Sage Core. A special stone of my own invention that generates red chakra and fuses it with natural energy on its own."
She gave me a huge grin. "Sounds fun."
I activated my eyes long enough to check how it would go down. Turns out it was a good idea, worked well enough, but unless we had more, then Ai'd really have to try to finesse it to get the chains out. "Unfortunately, though, it's probably gonna take like a month to do that, even with a head start. You've got a lot of chakra capacity."
"Dammit."
kukukuku~
A/N: Yeah I was actually really salty when I realized that NARUTO THREW AWAY TWO OF HIS AWESOME JUTSU BALLS WHY!?
