Ferdydurke - it’s a book by a Polish author from the first half of the 20th century. the book is very leftist, criticises small-mindedness, bigotry, nationalistic attitudes, traditionalist approach, etc. the book is a biting satire, most of his writing is and it’s the only book i read in school that inspired me to read more of the author’s work.

#answering asks #thank you for asking! #<3 #Gombrowicz the author of Ferdydurke was probably gay #but there is a lot of drama in polish literary circles concerning his sexuality #because poland is very homophobic and this writer is one of the biggest names in out literature #it also didn't help that he had married a woman at some point probably to hide his homosexuality #and the said woman was very adamant on keeping his sexuality a secret after his death #it's a mess #i mean he married her one year before his death #and well now even the wikipedia mentions he was bi #the english wikipedia entry #because the polish wikipedia entry is very silent on this subject #yeah
