Look, I'm not interested in playing Palworld and I've been actively avoiding the drama/controversy so I'd be perfectly happy with forgetting it's existence and moving on with my life if it weren't for just how obsessively UNHINGED the Palworld fandom is, barging in on EVERY. SINGLE. recent Pokémon post on multiple platforms just to pick fights and shill the hell out of their game to (most of the time) confused Pokémon fans who are wondering what Palworld is and where these people came from.
I saw this wonderful art of the Kamado battle in Legends Arceus and the Champion battle in Sun and Moon on Instagram and I shit you not, a good 70% of the comments are entirely Palworld people just ranting and yelling about how Pokémon sucks, Palworld is going to kill Pokémon, anybody who likes Pokémon is a bootlicker and are riding Pokémon's 🍆, how anyone who complains about Palworld is a (and I quote) """"saviourf*g""" for Nintendo etc
Like, I just wanted to share my nostalgia about Sun and Moon and so did a lot of other people considering that there were still people talking about it, but it was hard to find those comments because they were drowned out by the Pals Vs Pokémon warzone.
And the second someone says something a Pal fan doesn't like, it eventually devolves into the Pal fans throwing homophobic slurs around and calling the Pokémon fans neckbeards, and shills and basement dwellers and such.
I'm sure there's probably sane fans who are just happy going about and making their Pals break rocks or whatever, but a majority of the Palworld fans I've encountered so far are like edgy screaming 4Chan people. Like, holy shit I wish they would just go to their own Palworld fan pages instead of invading Pokémon and turning every comment section into the embodiment of this meme.
(And I just want to address the whole "Pokémon Company is posting a lot more often recently because they're obviously scared of Palworld, lmaoooo why else would they suddenly start actively posting after months of radio silence 😎" argument that I've seen dozens of times.
First of all, the Pokémon channel/profile is always posting random game/anime/art screenshots. There hasn't been a sudden drastic increase of posts.
Second of all, it's A MONTH UNTIL POKÉMON DAY. THEY DO THIS EVERY YEAR. The influx of Snorlax posts is a promotional thing for Pokémon Sleep. Pokémon's just carrying on with their regularly scheduled hype building/ promotional stuff and the Palworld fans think it has something to do with them.(

Need I remind Ryan Condal(and the fans of this show who want her cut because she’s irrelevant) that in every piece of media on the Dance [The princess and the queen(2013), The World of Ice & Fire(2014), the Dance DVD lore(2015), Fire & Blood(2018), and The Rise of the Dragon(2022)]Nettles is always there.
Some characters that will be featured in the show like Addam of Hull(he’s not mentioned by name in the DVD lore), Alys Rivers(she’s not mentioned in the DVD lore or The World of Ice & Fire), or Gwayne Hightower(he’s not mentioned in the DVD lore or The World of Ice & Fire) are not mentioned in certain versions of the story, but Nettles is featured in every single version of the Dance.

An Appeal re: Anon Asks
For the last week (although honestly, the last six months), I've been having conversations on and off about the responsibility of answering asks on your blog and the impact it has on fandom as a community.
At some point during Season 2 of Lone Star, the Anon asks, in particular, got truly out of control, and it's only gotten worse over time. Your blogs are your blogs, and I respect that. At the same time, as a fandom community, we share this space. Whether or not we all know one another, we're all coexisting in the tags and on this site. It takes a lot of emotional labor and time to filter and block on Tumblr, especially when folks don't tag consistently or correctly. Like many in this fandom, I also want to have fun while I'm here, but it's hard to do that when there seems to be little to no discernment in answering asks or properly tagging them.
When it comes to unnecessary negative comments on fanfic, we often say, "it's not hard to close out of something if you don't like it." The spirit of that applies here, too. It's easy not to answer an ask, especially an Anon ask.
If someone isn't putting their name on something they're asking you to post to your blog, I would argue it requires an additional second and third look and careful consideration of how you answer it. (Certain asks are answered flippantly and then tagged for all to see, but that is an entirely separate post I won't be writing).
Everything you share gets eyes; how many depends on how loud of a voice you're considered in the fandom. And it's been my experience that the louder the voice, the more substantial the likelihood you'll find problematic Anon asks in your inbox. Answering these asks on your blog gives them a platform, and tagging them gives them an audience outside of your followers. If you're a "big blog," it increases the odds that some of us will also be subjected to these problematic asks through reblogs. All of this broadly impacts fandom conversation because now it's deemed acceptable to send XYZ type of ask, use XYZ word(s), bring up XYZ topic, or talk about XYZ actor(s) or character(s) in any type of way.
The whole "this is Tumblr, it's not that serious" argument is privileged because some of this stuff is serious for someone like me (and others in this space). I can't just pretend someone isn't implicitly making it seem okay to say certain things, especially if their blog is looked at as a popular fandom source.
This ask is just one example of what I'm talking about:
It's the use of a racialized fetish term, and honestly, it's super cringe. Seeing this in the show tag is deeply uncomfortable as a Latinx person. What was the point of answering this ask and then tagging it? It serves no purpose and hangs out in the show tag like we all just throw it around (we don’t). It's been brought to attention, and still, it lingers.
A fandom community should be safe and fun for all, but we don't live in a perfect world, so it takes work. Part of being in a community and doing the work is kindly holding people accountable to make it that way and being willing to have constructive conversations when concerns are raised. It's not accountability if you only show "remorse" when your friends bring something to your attention, and then nothing changes.
Accountability also ceases to exist when the fandom community chooses deep avoidance, handwaving things away whenever someone tries to share a concern. I have no idea why this keeps happening here, but I do know that every time it happens, it is profoundly isolating and makes it clear that fandom is only meant to be fun for some. The rest of us have to either put up with it or leave.
If that's the message the Lone Star fandom intends to send, it's being received loud and clear.
****
(Edit: the post is finally down, but I’ve shared a screenshot because it took three days and more than one person to address it publicly and this is exactly what I’m talking about.)

with all my sympathy for bmf, why did everyone get a boxset except vv? gmm doesn't even hide its hatred for this project!
PLEASE DON'T REMIND ME ANON IM TRYING SO HARD TO BE A MATURE RATIONAL ADULT ABOUT THIS ENTIRE SITUATION LIKE YEAH NO IM JUST [CLENCHES FISTS] SO HAPPY THAT PEOPLE ARE GETTING DVD BOX SETS OF THEIR FAVORITE SHOWS WITH SPECIAL BEHIND THE SCENES CONTENT AND EXCLUSIVE POSTCARDS AND A WHOLE PHOTO BOOK DEDICATED TO IT IM A BEING OF LOVE AND LIGHT IM NOT JEALOUS AND BITTER AT ALL [GNAWING GNASHING BITING MAIMING KILLING]
and the thing is.. im usually a very logical person (hard to believe, i know) and i work as an accountant for a living, so god knows just how much i've tried to justify GMMTV not making a DVD box set for vice versa as the show not meeting the company's expected financial projections and consumers interest, but when a series that pulled LESS views than vice versa gets it, that makes me want to commit grand scale larceny :) (and like you said, nothing against bmf itself, it's GMMTV i have beef with)
HONESTLY WITH ALL THE PRODUCT PLACEMENTS THEY FORCED IN IT THEY AT LEAST COULD HAVE SAVED A SMALL PART OF THE BUDGET FOR A DVD BOX SET I WILL MEET EVERY SINGLE GMMTV EXEC IN HELL AND FIGHT THEM

Something I’ve noticed about a lot of Rhaenyra stans (that is so aggravating) is they are always talking about they don’t want Rhaenyra to be "whitewashed" but when you bring up the darker things she’s done/will do (calling for her younger brother to be “sharply questioned,” ordering Ser Vaemond’s head to be chopped off and then feeding him to Syrax, never punishing her husband for ordering Blood and Cheese (and I wouldn’t be surprised if in the show they have her order Blood and Cheese), ordering the death of Nettles for having a romantic/sexual relationship with her husband and yet not extending those orders to her husband, and her blatant racism towards Nettles) suddenly Fire & Blood is just a misogynistic book meant to paint Rhaenyra(and Daemon) in a bad light.
I wonder who’s going to tell them they can’t have their cake and eat it too 🫠
Moving the goalposts is their favorite pastime 😗
One moment Fire & Blood is the most reliable source when it talks about how the realm thought a seven-year-old Rhaenyra was a darling(albeit spoiled) child and how romantic it is that Daemon crept on her at fourteen (cause that’s the evidence they use to support him luving her so very much even though he left the capital when she was a child because he got butthurt over her being made heir, but he realized that he could still be close to the throne if he seduced her and forced his brother to hand her over to him🙃) which is still underage by Westeros standards. The next it’s not to be trusted because the evil men have it out for my Valyrian queen.
I suppose for some it is easier to believe a white woman, who is fine with killing her own flesh and blood, innocent babies(I love Daemon, but a son for a son should’ve meant going after Daeron or Aemond, but they weren’t easy targets), is a complete and total innocent victim 100% of the time😗
I’ve never ever heard of a white woman using her privilege to try and commit a hate crime against a Black woman. Like ever. Especially not a white woman who comes from a racist family who’s own grandmother mistook a Black man for a demon because of his skin tone. It just can’t be true 🙃
She was just stressed. You know how that goes cause we've all wanted to commit racially motivated murder when we are stressed ☺️
They are happy with the show painting her in the best light possible and will even cheer on the show doing away with book canon(see how much they celebrated Laena being “unloved” by Daemon) that they claim to love so much if it makes queenie look good🤷🏽♀️
