Pro tip for anyone who lives in a building with a toilet: if the plunger isn't working, and you're tempted to leave the clog until the morning, make sure the water isn't still flowing into the bowl.

And make sure it's not on the ground floor of a two-story house, with a communal plumbing pipe that is now clogged deep enough for any water upstairs to come out that toilet.

I've been listening to the Good Omens intro on repeat lately and I just wanna say David Arnold is a genius

The main tune is split up into 2 different melodies or "voices": The Violin/Harpsichord which carries the melody and the Base/percussion which of course carries the beat and tempo.

And because of their respective clefs and tone, you'd expect the percussion/bass instruments to resemble hell and the violin to resemble heaven.

But actually, the percussion/Bass is Heaven because it marches on with confident authority and absolutely no changes, and the violin is hell because it is random and chaotic and very very dramatic (what demon doesn't love a good drama), weaving through and in circles around the tempo.

Then the fact that the two pieces tied together become this ethereal yet very earthly grounded piece. Like how the in-between of heaven and hell is earth.

Then on top of that, the song is written in what I believe is a 3/4 time signature which is what you use for a waltz and creates a very very romantic atmosphere to the song and drives home this almost cyclical sound? Like how Crowley and Aziraphael follow each other in circles.

It's absolutely brilliant how David Arnold was able to capture so much in the story with no words.

I really liked what Trent said to Colin

“Give him a minute. You shouldn’t have to but some people need it.”

It doesn’t absolve Isaac from his asshole behaviour, but it also doesn’t dismiss Colin’s feelings. And Trent obviously knows that Colin and Isaac are close and this is the best piece of advice he could give him. He could have said, “fuck him, just let him go it’s not worth it” which is fine if that’s what you feel is best for you, but when you’re in this situation with your best friend it’s not so easy.

I’ve been there myself when I kind of accidentally came out to my best friend when I was about 18/19. I was texting her about something funny that had happened in school where I had said that I’m bi. And she got really serious and asked me why I had said that and I tried to joke it away while my heart was beating out of my chest. I still remember where I was when I got those texts, and it was over ten years ago. She told me to stop joking around and be serious and I told her that I’m bi. She asked why I hadn’t told her and I said I thought she already knew because I was kind of open about it on social media, but she had missed that. And she was kind of upset that I hadn’t told her and I understand that. I really do, and I apologised. Perhaps I shouldn’t have, and I know that I didn’t need to. But I knew where she was coming from and I’d been in the same situation where I wish she had told me things and her not telling me made me upset. So I get it.

So to see it play out like this and then having Colin say that thing about the 1% chance of Isaac not accepting him scared him. It hit really close to home. Because I’ve been there. Both with being afraid of coming out to your best friend and them being upset because they found out by accident and the truth that lies in Colin’s lines about being mostly sure that they’re going to be supportive but it’s still terrifying.

I think they did a great job with those scenes, and I cried because I felt seen in a way I haven’t really been seen before.

This is another one where all I have is a paragraph:

Shot. And first thought is, taking a long time to get him thrown over the side. Shot and then tossed overboard, faster than keelhauling at least. That's the last coherent thought for a while.

While I was laying waiting for surgery, full of Dilaudid and still in a lot of pain (at one point my stretcher got hit by a door accidentally, and WOW DID THAT HURT), I kept thinking about Jim and Archie getting ready to cut off Izzy's leg*, and then later thinking about the weird things your brain does in pain and on strong painkillers, and all the metas about Izzy's arc, and what feels like a gap there, and also how he's an unreliable narrator almost to the very end imho, and the whole thing gave me this (to me) insane urge to write Izzy POV. If I do it, I need it to be fucked up, I need him to be horrible and confused and wrong, or right for the wrong reasons. I honestly don't know if I'll write it, but this is sort of where I'm at with the idea:

My nephew loves the Mario movie and has watched it non stop since they bought it. I’ve watched it at least 20 times this last week. It’s a good thing that I like it too.
