I finished watching Hannibal. I can’t believe it. Now I know why this fandom has never stopped waiting for a season 4 and I am right there with you. How could they taunt us with the possibility of them surviving the fall to find Bedelia and then not have another season 😭. I may be betraying my roots here but I think Hannibal has officially become my favourite show and of course Hannigram to go with that as my favourite ship. There is just so much to them and the show is beautiful, I can’t believe I spent so much time being too scared to watch it what a fool I was.

thoughts on bedelia and her relationship with hannibal?

Lots of thoughts on Bedelia. Such an interesting character. I'm glad she exists otherwise we'd only have the poorly written Alana and brief Bev as fcs on the show.

I love how she serves almost as the audience in the show, knowing things that other characters seem to be oblivious to. And I do think it was the perfect choice to give her the honor to tell Will that H is in love with him. Will wouldn't believe anyone else, not even H. And because he thought Bedelia was competition, it didn't make sense for her, in his perception, to lie about it.

I think she's the same as Will and H, in the sense of "morally questionable" and not exactly fitting any known diagnosis of psychopathy. I think she wanted to help Hannibal in a similar, but less passionate, way that H wanted to help Will in s1. But probably more out of pity, since she could see him behind the person suit, than desire (what drove H's actions towards Will). I do think she was attracted to H, but simply because who isn't lol? And she was obsessed with Hannibal, in a different way than Will, but was for sure.

Interacting with, seeing beyond and having the respect/interest of a character such as Hannibal Lecter is something that gives the feeling of power, she knows because she said it herself, to Will, "Your experience of Hannibal’s attention is so profoundly harmful, yet so irresistible".

I believe she wanted to be the one who changed him, but very soon realized she couldn't. So she tried to be something else, that was still somehow unique. I say this because even after all, she still walked away unharmed by H (I believe the leg thing was 100% Will's idea), which is rare or nonexistent. Hence Will hating her so much (why is she special? kind of mindset).

I think H respected the fact that she saw who he was, when no one else did, but she didn't love him. There's a tiny little moment in season 3, when they're talking about the Commandatore, and she asks him "does he know...what, you are?" and Hannibal makes this subtle expression, almost like a sad smile, as if acknowledging that yes, you know me, but you still see me as a monster.

I like her. I think she's witty and she has some of the best lines in the show. I adore her bitchy banter with Will.

If Bedelia and Freddie Lounds had a cat fight who'd win?

Freddie for sure and i'm not just saying this bc its you. look at the fight she put up against Will, for several reasons she didn't really stand a chance but she could seriously hold her own. I think Bedelia would be pretty vicious also in a fight, but I don't see her as the throwing hands type if that makes sense

as far as like a verbal fight, they're both pretty good with words. i think Freddie would have more ammunition though since Bedelia literally also disappeared to Italy with Hannibal, and Bedelia could only hit Freddie with the usual empty insults: nosy, rude, annoying, unethical journalist, etc. (all of which are not true and mean nothing to Freddie because she knows she's winning anyways)

If we absolutely HAD to, I'd rather Will and Bev, they had better chemistry and she was a much more pleasant and interesting character than Alana. But the industry is incredibly awful and disgusting and would never pair up Hugh Dancy with her, they went for the obvious beauty standard which was an actress that actually looked like his sister lol. I'm not gonna say Margot, because although a woman, she is gay. But if she wasn't, I think they'd be perfect, actually. Georgia might have been interesting, too, but again, disgusting industry, they would *never* do that. And Chyoh, too. Which I guess they did it for a second lol. For Hannibal I think Bedelia is fine. Can't think of any other female character that matches his energy. But also he's so malewife I can't even picture him with something other than a hot little dude.
