For beej88 based on the first chapter of her fic, If only I belonged to you. For everything she's been through in fandom on here, Vchan suggested doing something nice. Beej has told me before she wanted to learn to draw so she could give back to her favorite fics and you know what, she deserves the same.
I especially love the first chapter of her fic and absolutely wanted to draw Ren and Dimi. I was pretty hesitant as my couples drawing skills aren't great, but watching beej work so hard on improving her art I felt I should at least do the same when making a gift for her.

Random-Mailbox's Favorite Sailor Moon Fics - Week 22 - Friends to Lovers
I think this may have been the post I have been looking forward to the most, so thank you tophat for picking it as this week’s theme (see end of last week's post for the story behind it). Friends to Lovers is more manga than anime characterization in most cases, which is a nice change to the constant arguing we get with the OG anime compliant stories.
As always, my apologies in advance for spoiling some of these for you (Fic Titles are linked to either FFN or AO3 entries).
It's You (I Fell Into) - @idesofnovember
Usagi literally trips over air and falls onto Mamoru on his first day of being the new engineer at the company she works for. As they start to spend more time together both in and out of the office, they get into a pattern that will require clearing up of misunderstandings before someone gets hurt. Also this art piece titled "Before you go in" by @iamcharlotte88 totally fits into the end of chapter 3 / start of chapter 4 of this story.
It's Always Been You - Beej88
In this non-senshi AU, little Usagi finds Mamoru in his hospital room and declares that since he is her best friend he will never be alone again. As he moves through foster care, Tsukinos always keep an eye on him, with him becoming an integral part of the family. Except that to him, Usagi means so much more than that, and she herself doesn’t realise yet what Mamoru means to her.
The Ghosts Of Lake Yokai - @floraone
This is the lemoniest story of the bunch. It is an aged up retelling of the original anime episode, BUT if the Starlight Tower stand-off turned out completely differently, with Mamoru joining the senshi team as the result. This one also features magical healing 🍆, which is always welcome in my books 😏
Not Him, Please? - @uglygreenjacket
Mamoru has long ago realized that he was in love with Usagi but chosen to keep himself in check best he can to stay in her life as one of her best friends. But when mixing alcohol, jealousy and a birthday party, even best intentions can go astray.
Finally Mine - @reispinkoveralls
Having woken up after defeating Chaos at the Cauldron, Usagi rushes to Mamoru's place to make sure he is back as well. In this AU, they have been fighting together as a team, and Usagi chose to not worry him overseas when a new enemy appeared. This one is also a 🍋🍋
Miraculous Musings: Vignettes of a Miracle Romance - Chapter 25: Fairy - @goddessalthena
This one-shot gives us a glimpse of an AU that us readers will hopefully get to see in full one day. The set-up is that our favorite duo has known each other since childhood and Mamoru gets something incredibly thoughtful as a gift for Usagi.

"I remember feeling totally lost, restless, and looking for a creative outlet. With the release of Crystal I rediscovered my love for Sailor Moon and proceeded to hyperfixate on fanfiction. I read silently for almost a year before I decided to try my hand at writing. Dark!Serenity: A Story Idea
I've been wondering for a while now if there are others who've asked themselves: how would a Dark!Serenity, the inverse to the usual Dark!Endymion, story go? How would it work? Like, I don't mean like an entire role swap like Kyralih's "Cardinal King" series over on Ao3, or the short time where Usagi is called Wicked Lady in BeeJ88's fic "A Twist in Time" that can be found on both FFN and Ao3, but like "instead of Tux's identity being known or found out, the DK injure and kidnap SM to brainwash her to their side". The reason being that she seems to be the powerhouse/finisher. Kinda like how "Dark Rabbit" by Sidus_Spei attempted it but differently.
I think the perfect episode for that happening, in regards to the 90's anime since I haven't seen Crystal or read the manga, would be when Venus arrives. She's late to the party and the girls have since fallen unconscious when she makes Kun drop the barrier before they're crushed. Meanwhile, Tux has gotten 'Moon' down but he still feels she's in danger and finds that a strange device is attached to 'her', it must be draining 'her' energy if not 'her' life, with slots that he just knows are meant for the crystals in his possession. Does he save 'her' by relinquishing his crystals or keep them and let 'her' die? The choice is obvious. Only thing is, once the crystals are in place and the device shuts down, the sense of danger dies unknowing that V has saved the day, 'she' attacks him as in the episode but instead of Zoi revealing the deception he simply mocks the man for his sentimentality and falling for 'her team's' trap before booking it back to Kunz; Tux's too shocked, betrayed and hurt to follow. Zoi's exultant (they have them all!) when he comes upon the Senshi with Kun and V fighting close by and gets the bright idea to nab Moon. What better way to keep the two sides from allying with one another against them than to make the 'deception', Moon is Tux's enemy, a 'reality'? How sweet would it be, the Senshi trying their hardest to get their leader, the one who's the strongest magically, back while trying to defend her from Tux who'll want his crystals back, thus 'proving' Moon was wrong about him, while also trying stop their youma from gathering more energy until they figured out how to reform the Nijizuishou into the Ginzuishou?
Moon fights as long and hard as she can but then Kun sees a strange reaction with the Nijizuishou, they seem to be siphoning away Moon's power. So Beryl fashions a collar or belt of the Nijizuishou to put around Moon's neck or waist, as an experiment, and lo and behold! She finally succumbs. Thing is, since her whole life's gotta go, not to mention she hadn't been outed as the Princess, she's given the name "Rin" meaning "a cold, severe and dignified person" when 'playing civilian' and "New Moon" instead of Sailor Moon as a play on words that she's a more 'improved' version of SM to which is also when said moon is dark in the sky and acts more like Serenity than Usagi (like the Generals, she fully believes she's been a warrior of the DK all her life) due to the suppressed memories of her past life not being inhibited or overwritten/overwhelmed by her current life anymore. Not to mention Usagi's family. Will they be made to forget, with possibly the extra angst of it being irreversible, be told who their missing family member is and why she's missing and run the risk of their doing something drastic in their attempts to get her back, or will the Senshi have to bear the guilt of knowing her possible whereabouts and can say nothing as her family frantically tries to find her and get so hopeful when someone calls in saying they 'spotted' her but it's always 'Rin', a mature young lady, she's nothing like Usagi and Usagi herself isn't that good an actress, with two protective older brothers who just so happens to be Usagi's doppelganger, just going about her life's business? And what about Mamoru? He doesn't know Moon is Odango and the Senshi obviously aren't gonna tell him; they haven't had their Elevator Chat, their Moment of Bonding or Identity Revelations. He sees 'Rin' and her brothers around but despite "everyone", the woman and said brothers too, and his own logic, not to mention 'Rin's' own personality and bearing, telling him otherwise he just can't shake the feeling that 'Rin' is Odango.
So? How do you think the story would go from there? If I've inspired you, and you don't have to use it word for word if you've thought of something better, or only use the 90's anime when writing, please let me know by leaving a note with a title, your penname and where to find it. I'd like to see how you try to conclude such a story-line. That is, will it have a good ending or a bad one?

Hello! Long time fan- but I wanted to give you a heads up that it appears that another "artist" has fed some of your pieces, notably the portrait of Usagi in the pink sweater, through AI and has taken credit for the art generated from it. As an artist myself, it's very obvious- especially the pose and the way the buns/hair was done in a couple of recent pieces. Check out beej88's recent work... I'm sorry to bring this up but I'd want someone to tell me if this was happening to my art.
Thank you very much for the notice! Unfortunately these people are desperate for attention and don't mind stealing other people's work to satisfy their ego. It is very sad and makes you want to give up...

R is for Reverse - I obviously must include this, as it was what got me back into writing fanfic after a many-year hiatus, plus it’s just a lot of fun and I’m ridiculously proud of it.
The Runner Up - My other major multichapter, which was sexy and cathartic and a lot of fun to write.
A (Blind) Date with Destiny - I really REALLY had fun writing the first chapter and all the hints that maybe Mamoru did (or didn’t) remember more than he was letting on. And the second chapter was hilarious and sexy and I really like how they came out.
Dr. Chiba Will See You Now from my UsaMamo week collection All I Ever Think About Is You - I mean maybe this is getting into my own kinks but dammit, this is (imo) the hottest smut I’ve yet written.
Five Times Chiba Mamoru Hung on to Usako (and one that he didn’t) - This was a really fun character study for Mamoru. It’s not terribly long, but I think I hit some good emotional depths and catharsis with it.

What if - @idesofnovember
I could not have had a “What If” list without this story. Usagi canonically always wants Mamoru (and everyone else around her) to have a chance at making their own choices and not be bound by destiny. One day she bring it up with Setsuna, who makes her learn her lesson the hard way that the timeline should not be messed with.
Fantasy - Lois Fogg
This one was recommended to me by Beej88 and is a fun AU that has magic, parallel worlds and constant questioning of what would happen with every decision. One thing to note, this story was almost sold to a publisher with changed names, so you may notice a few stray “May”s for “Minako” here and that's the reason why. Totally worth checking out though!
Space Bar - Beej88, @smokingbomber
In this short story, mostly told from Joey (Jadeite)’s perspective, readers get to see the dynamics get tested for Shittenou to come back into the fold of the guard. I love the fact that we get Kunzoi and Kunzite x Venus possibilities all in one story.

The Chances We Don't Take - @floraone
The entire one-shot is Mamoru thinking about things he should have done differently when it came to his and Usagi's relationship and past interactions. All the points where if had said something or done something, where it could have led.
To Save a Light - @queenrisa14
Little Mamoru had basically given up. He knows that he is all alone and that there is no one waiting for him to get better and out of the hospital. Except that one special nurse explains that every person has a light inside of them, and that letting it shine brightly will help him find a new family and someone very special, whose light will make his shine even brighter.

One of the things that came up in this episode of the Mondsteinflug miniseries on Sailor Moon fandom history was why people in North America weren’t as interested in the Cloverway S and SuperS dubs.
Some of the things we talked about on the podcast as potential reasons for this were:
1. Greater accessibility of subbed content
2. Growth/lost interest (a 2 year gap can be a long time in adolescence)
@beej88 brought up that it might be because they changed Serena’s voice actress (from Terri Hawkes to Linda Ballantyne).
I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts on this, and also on why there was so much less Usamamo fic set around S and SuperS at the time.
