Where did everything go? Tumblr has been the home of FloatingBunnyHead.com since 2011. Unfortunately, the moron CEO of tumblr is probably going to make a deal with Midjourney to grind up our pictures and words and feed them to a generative A.I. So that’s it for me. The art I have made will no longer live on their website. I could go on for pages about how much I hate generative A.I. But this is all you really need to know: I want nothing to do with it. I don’t want to see it. It sucks. People who use it should be eaten alive by horses. Also, Tumblr has been a pretty cool place. It really sucks that rich assholes keep ruining our nice things. Hello, I'm not sure if you're aware, but tumblr is going to start helping midjourney gather data for their AI. You're one of the artists I follow here pretty actively and I wanted to warn you to maybe start nighshading your art before posting it here so it doesn't get swept up!

I've seen a couple of posts about it. Feeling disappointed but not that surprised. Also not excited about having to start nightshading/glazing my pieces but if there isn't going to be any serious regulations regarding data scraping and ai "art", there aren't a lot of choices.

Thank you for taking the time to warn me just in case, it was very thoughtful of you!

#from what I've seen the effectiveness of nightshade/glaze has been debated and I don't even pretend to understand how it works #but like watermarks it's at least some kind of preventive measure a token effort to stop your art from being stolen and misused #but I fear that if someone is determined to do it anyway chances are they will find a way unfortunately #this shouldn't be the reality of trying to share art online #it's a pretty dismal situation when this responsibility falls on the artists themselves #I've been here since 2011 I've lived through multiple tumblr apocalypses I'm not leaving unless they make this place wholly unlivable #and I don't think there are truly good alternatives with similar sense of community and as varied posting and customization options #it seems like every other major social media platform is doing this exact same thing if not worse #answered #ohdeergood #I'm tired we're all tired of this

? what are you talking about. it's really interesting how upset some of you get when i make a post supporting gifmakers. i follow almost a thousand people, i am part of multiple source blogs and constantly check edit tags because of that. i see and try to circulate content as much as i can.

when i say this site is dying i mean that less and less people are using it as it's meant to be used and that is obviously causing issues. why do you think staff offers all these badges and merch? they need money. they are losing $30 million dollars a year. the site is genuinely dying. if more people don't join and engage with the website then there will be no website anymore.
