Agriculture - Agriculture Well here it is! The long awaited first release from the LA based black metal project Agriculture. Agriculture has been building up steam from pre-release reviews and commendations from metal blogs, critics, magazines, the whole lot. This album, at least in my circles, had a lot of hype. Even had a whole meme associated with the band: "I love the spiritual sound of ecstatic black metal by the band Agriculture" and it's pretty good! First off, a lot of black metal fans will shit on anything blackgaze-esc. Anything that even has the smallest whiff of Deafheaven or Liturgy is considered "Not Kvlt" or "poser shit" and frankly a lot of those people think that way because they're more invested in the aesthetic of music, how it makes them look to others, how it makes them feel, then they are about pushing forward the genre. Listening to the same four Norwegian black metal bands from the 90's isn't KVLT. Listening to endless repeats of the same tired BM tropes just reminds me of a Satanic version of Greta Van Fleet, and that is an ATROCIOUS thing to be similar to. Not too mention, all too often, these "TRUE BLACK METAL KVLT BANDS" are just Nazi Black Metal. From Burzum to Deathspell Omega. It's just Nazi shit. Agriculture on the other hand really dives deep into the blackgaze genre. Really pushing against what people expect when they turn on a black metal album. There is an interlude that is just a man singing over guitars. There are trumpet and jazz-esc sections. I mean there's still a shit ton of tremelo picking and high pitched screaming but it's black metal you know. There are definitely moments where it all works and it all felt so incredibly epic. Those emotional highs that I got listening to Liturgy or Deafheaven, but, at least on the first listen, I came away thinking "Yup. Kinda what I thought it would be." Not that that's a bad thing just, I wasn't blown away. The instrumentation was good, the singing was good, just... maybe it just didn't click for me. I'm excited to give it another listen and see if maybe I'll pick up on more nuances in a different context or mood. If so maybe I'll revisit my thoughts. But for now I think it's fine. If you really like this kinda music you'll absolutely love this, but for me, I'll probably just listen to some more liturgy.

Most-Listened of February 2024
[last month]
Out of all the releases I've been interested in these past two months, I feel like I've listened to barely any of them :( But I've really, really loved the ones I've gotten around to checking out, so I've been having a great couple months of music anyway! My music taste is in its seasonal transition--plenty of bleak winter stuff this month, but I've been craving big heartstopping pop anthems, too (G-IDLE's "Revenge" isn't on here, but I've been loving it lately).
1. Ahora y Aquí -- Ramon Mirabet, Bely Basarte
So I keep saying I'm tired of the 80s-inspired synthpop trend that's taken over our post-"Blinding Lights" world, but here I am with this at the top of my list. No but this one's DIFFERENT, SHE'S NOT LIKE OTHER SYNTHPOP. As with most tracks blessed by Bely Basarte, the vocals are what elevates this for me--they're unexpectedly gritty for a sleek pop track like this, and when both singers let it all out in that last chorus, I understand what it means to go feral. It has all the uncontrolled chaos of a real dance party, and I love it!!
2. Lejos -- Andrea Santiago
This is a pretty by-the-numbers Andrea Santiago song, but even the most average of her music is a world of its own to escape into. I'm not sure how to feel about this new album--something feels really off about the production--but "Lejos" is absolutely hypnotizing! Definitely going to be bringing this one out at karaoke sometime, because it's exactly my type of angst (and the chorus jumps are SOOO fun to sing???).
3. Turning Tables -- Adele
I sulked to this song all month, and I don't regret a minute of it.
4. Goodbye, My Danish Sweetheart -- Mitski
Do I win sapphic points for having Mitski in the top 5?
5. Is It Over Now? (Taylor's Version) -- Taylor Swift
LETS FAST FOWARD TWO THREE HUNDRED TAKEOUT COFFEES LATER !!!!!! Yeah I'm completely obsessed with that line. Taylor Swift always releases songs that are just SO fun to sing along to, so I'm running around my apartment like YOU SEARCH IN EVERY MODEL'S BED FOR SOMETHING GREATER, BABY !!!! This song is such an off-balance mix of humor and agony, so like I don't really understand it but I can't take my eyes off it. And that intro is GORGEOUS.
6. Easy -- Le Sserafim
I didn't get the hype for "Perfect Night", so I didn't particularly care either way about this comeback--until I heard it. And oh my god "Easy" got me on first listen. ("Smart" has been working its way up my On Repeat playlist, too.) Le Sserafim stole all my new-release energy this month, but my appreciation for "Easy" still hasn't died out. A silky-smooth song like this is perfect for my mood right now--their delivery is so casually confident, contagious enough that I can't help but feel stronger when I listen to it; but it's not so energetic that my poor gloomy winter-brain is overwhelmed. The production is really crisp, too, complimenting the vocals well and making for some really iconic moments. And yes i'm aware this is gg "Sticker". I still can't listen to "Sticker" (it gives me a headache), but this version isn't too annoying for me, I guess?
7. Unstoppable -- Sia
I actually don't have a real explanation for this one? I remembered this song existed mid-month (after having forgotten about it since 2016), had a crisis with it as a soundtrack, and now it's in the playlists.
8. Roaring 20s -- Panic! At The Disco
Burnout anthem?? Burnout anthem.
9. Outta My Head -- Jeon Somi
My commentary on every Somi song ever is just "Somi sing so pretty SQUEEEEEEEE". So, that's my review for "Outta My Head". I don't know if people still like this one, but my love for it hasn't died since "Birthday" era!
10. Budget (feat. Latto) -- Megan Thee Stallion, Latto
@shyreol got me with her Megan Thee Stallion agenda! I don't think I'd ever cared for a Megan Thee Stallion song before this year, but "Ungrateful" and "Budget" have me HOOKED.
11. Now That We Don't Talk (Taylor's Version) -- Taylor Swift
I don't know, I just really like it when the title drop goes BOOM !!
NOW THAT. WE DON'T. TALK.
12. Tinnitus (Wanna be a rock) -- TXT
WHOOOOO AFROBEATS !!!
13. There Will Be Tears -- Faux Paz
Faux Paz is back for round two on my 2024 monthly lists! They're my favorite holdover from my acappella days--their arrangements always hit hard, and there's something about the really gloomy, and also cathartic, acceptance in the phrase "there will be tears" when its repeated by this giant wall of voices? It really gets me. This isn't my favorite Faux Paz cover, but it's a song I can't look away from.
14. Escape Room -- fromis_9
I'm a gg stan, so this was going to show up on here eventually. Next up, Chung Ha's "Roller Coaster" ?
15. Hold The Girl -- Rina Sawayama
Stole this rec from @nayeonline a while ago (thank you for sharing!!), and it really hit this month :) This song goes all out with the angst, and Rina Sawayama has more than enough vocal power to do it justice!
Five-Star Songs (& Albums) This Month:
Ahora y Aquí -- Ramon Mirabet, Bely Basarte (bely basarte is two-for-two in 2024's five-star songs lists, and wow is it deserved)
DNA -- Yena (i have no idea what about this song makes it so perfect for me, but i love it 100x more than "good morning" for some reason?? it just hits SO hard)
Pirate Radio* -- Jean Dawson (okay i'm actually not a huge fan of dawson's voice, but this instrumental is too wonderful to leave off the list. i watched & enjoyed school spirits on netflix this month, and this is by far my favorite from the soundtrack! string instruments make my heart go BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ and this song is just a delightful confection of them !!)
Vision -- G-IDLE (a sixth star added for that layering where someone's murmuring underneath the whispery vocals in the chorus??????? like it should NOT sound as good as it does but here we are ?????)
Prenderle Fuego a Todo -- Andrea Santiago (i want to start including albums on here, mostly to get myself to listen to more albums all the way through! i've been obsessed with a few songs from this album for years now, but i finally listened to the whole thing this month--and it's even more wonderful as a complete set. the CLOSING SONG ?? I CAN'T BELIEVE I'VE SPENT YEARS OF MY LIFE IGNORING IT. when i'm listening to andrea santiago's music, i see the world with completely new eyes, and this album captures that wanderlust, an emotion i've actually never felt without help from music, even in its slow moments.)

Hi BPP. I don't know much about the mechanism behind music industry. I thought that pictures of producers with Jimin would mean they’re collaborating on Jimin’s music. Is that not the case? Not seeing their names on Jimin’s Track List made me puzzled. Also, I can't believe I'm getting so hyped over this Track List. This is my Minimoni revival era. XD I’ve been starving of their interaction, but this also shows how little we really know what’s going on. +
*
Ask 2: I’m listening to D2 right now, and it’s beautiful. It’s so,,, nice. ‘Set me free’ is SO calming. I can’t stop listening to this on repeat. This Track List,,, I'm imagining what those titles might mean and building my own narrative behind them. I’m incomparably hyped!! There’s a lot of first that BTS has brought in my life. Actually getting/posting on SNS, for one, and listening to music and trying to understand lyrics, for two. But yeah, I’m SO excited. Like I’m giddy and giggly. +
*
Ask 3: It makes me so happy and pumped that my days feel brighter and better. Lol So I had to reach out to you! Lol Do you know how I can send you longer asks with proper line breaks, and Markdown formatting? I’ve tried to get an account but that wouldn’t even let me post an ask. Whereas when I’m not signed in, I can post a very short ask. Sorry, I don’t really know how Tumblr works. I’ve never really wanted to have a blog, but I’d love to chat with you more! haha
***
Hi Anon!
For your first question, I recently replied to another Anon asking the same thing, but my short answer is that yes it's possible they still worked on the album in a bunch of ways - arrangement, sound engineering, vocals processing, etc, but it's also just as likely that Jimin met them to collaborate on his music post-FACE. We won't see the full credits until the album is out.
Everything else you said made me smile and your energy is so positively infectious. But maybe that's just the Jimin Effect - he's got us all charmed, giddy, and hungry for more. Thanks for expressing your thoughts in my inbox.
About the Anon asks format... I honestly don't know. I haven't sent an ask in forever but I think some Tumblr features sometimes don't work if the app version you're using isn't the very latest one. I've also heard that Tumblr features on desktop (through the Tumblr website, not on my blog page) allows people to post long asks and in general is better than mobile, so maybe using that format could benefit you. It's odd having an account hinders your posting though, when it should be the opposite... My settings allow asks from everyone too, I even allow submissions, asks with media, etc, so I'm honestly not sure what the problem is. If any of my followers can help Anon out with advice, please do. Alternatively Anon, my DMs are always open so feel free to stop by.
Anyway, Jimin's FACE is coming. And I'm with you that it can't come soon enough.

Tagged by @saltbind @seanwinchester @deanwinchesterpregnant @applecrumbledore @math-should-die, thank you all for tagging me! (and sorry if im missing anyone!)
Last Song: i got carried away answering this because i have a lot of thoughts okay SORRY. im a big kate bush fan and i've been listening to this kate bush tribute concert on repeat recently. its insane to hear her songs with like a whole orchestra performing them its INSANE okay its so good.
i wont forgive them for kinda fumbling whats probably my fave kate bush song (sat in your lap, which is a very frantic and all over the place type song. i have no idea what type of direction they were trying to go with for their version of it, but all of the charm and chaos of it is lost both in the way of the orchestral arrangement and the vocal performance) or the goofy vocal choices they make in hounds of love. my small grievances aside though, i do love a lot of the fun new directions they take a lot of the songs (their version of babooshka is so much fun) and i have straight up bawled to this concerts performance of this womans work before on multiple occasions (its at 21:10 if you care to cry with me)
you can also watch their performance of running up that hill here on yt bc i know thats like the only kate song ppl care about lol
Currently Watching: i just finished watching all of the twilight movies with my sister and i enjoyed them way more than i thought i would. i had so much fun watching them i understand the cultural hype behind them now.
Currently Reading: this is embarrassing but i dont read many actual novels. fic-wise i've been reading Brothers by Sera_Necto23 because i think josiah @/twochildreninamoteldemo mentioned it a bunch and yeah its good. also yeah no i totally forgot but i downloaded Brokeback Mountain a few days ago, loved the movie for ages and wanted to read the book for a while, ive only read like 5 pages so far but im looking forward to reading more
btw if anyone has book recs (especially horror and books featuring heavier topics) pls 🤲 id love to hear them! i feel very illiterate when it comes to books like i feel i havent read a lot of classics so feel free to rec ur fave most fucking basic high school book report books i promise theyll be like brand new to me
Current Obsession: god i dont know ive been feeling a little burnt out lately so i havent really been feeling #obsessed with anything aside from supernatural but im sure you already know that
Tagging: not tagging anyone because i think like all of my mutuals have been tagged already (im kinda late to this)

9, 11, 18, 17, 4 music go!
I hate myself from deleting the ENTIRE REPLY when I only had one question left to go OVO Oh well
I am going (again)
Tumblr media
9. what’s an album that JUST came out and it’s been on repeat for like 6 days +?
Honestly? None, it has not been a great album year for me 😅 (even though some of my favourite bands have released music none have really caught my attention for more than one or two listens)
11. tell me about your least favorite band or artist. go on scream about why you hate them.
Again I have a less than satisfying answer I believe since I do not tend to remember bands I hate - I prefer to let them die the quick death of forgetness >:3
18. what song in your playlist sounds like this 🖤🩸⛓💣🗡🪨 but the lyrics are 💖❤️🥰🤩💘💕
This time I am prepared that you as well as Lucie decided to give me the 'angst to fluff ratio' combo of asks x'D hahahah (last time I only thought I got the 'angsty fluff' version x'D)
I'll choose 'If I'm James Dean, You're Audrey Hepburn' by Sleeping With Sirens for the angsty fluff x'D It took me all the while up to hearing the acoustic version in 2016 to realise this was a cute lovesong and not dark and gruesome like the video otherwise would suggest OVO
youtube
Lyrics to prove my point
How the hell did you ever pick me? Honestly, I could sing you a song But I don't think words can express your beauty
(...)
I hope that you know that you are What my dreams are made of
17. what song in your playlist sounds like this 💖❤️🥰🤩💘💕 but the lyrics are 🖤🩸⛓💣🗡🪨
I haven chosen a classic (and borderline cliché probably) for this one being Some Nights by fun. As far as I've understood it is a song about a guy having a hard time sleeping to the point where he is thinking about unaliving himself OVO
youtube
Lyrics to prove my point
Well, some nights, I wish that this all would end 'Cause I could use some friends for a change And some nights, I'm scared you'll forget me again Some nights, I always win (I always win) But I still wake up, I still see your ghost Oh Lord, I'm still not sure what I stand for
(...)
This is it guys, that is all Five minutes in, and I'm bored again Ten years of this, I'm not sure if anybody understands This one is not for the folks at home Sorry to leave, Mom, I had to go
4. what band started it all for you?
I would love to say Green Day but that is actually not true ... it is Avril Lavigne of all things x'D
I was pretty hyped about her new album in 2011 (Goodbye Lullabye) so I ran to the local album store (sadly closed now :'3) to buy it yet it was sold out so I found Green Day's 21st century breakdown in the discount pile to buy instead - and oh boy I got hooked even more so than with Avril x'D so thank you Avril Lavigne for making me this rock obsessed weirdo I am today :'D x'D

Born Pink Album Thoughts
Tumblr media
My thoughts regarding Blackpink's 2nd Full Album
Hello and Hi!
A little bit overdue but this is gonna be a short review of Born Pink album.
Born Pink is the second full album of Blackpink, a south korean girl group under YG entertainment.
Just a PSA: I'm a Blink so I might be a bit biased with my opinions ><
I remember the hype of this last year because they rarely release comebacks! The moment I heard there was a FULL album, I immediately pre-ordered all versions.
Anyways, this review will be super short compared with the one I did with Olivia's Sour album so without further ado, let's go!
1. Pink Venom
Tumblr media
Rating: 8/10
Thoughts:
Ok don't be mad but on first listen, I absolutely hated the chorus. I love everything except that chorus. But well since I keep streaming, it kinda grew on me 😂 Now it's my freakin anthem lol.
JenLisa rap parts were fire and ChaeSoo bridges were amazing! The "Blackpiiiink" chant was amazing as well. We sounded like a cult when we were chanting it on the concert ><
2. Shut Down
Tumblr media
Rating: 9/10
Thoughts:
I LOVE this song no matter what anyone says. For me, it's one of their best title songs Jisoo's chorus part is fire, what a bias wrecker. I like the mix of classical La Campanella strings and modern beats. Also, the MV gave me goosebumps and made me cry a little. I've been a blink since their debut and seeing them reference and recreate their previous MV scenes made me realize that they made it despite all the hate that they got. My girls came so far 🥺
Also the lyrics?? Like hello! It's obviously for those who are dragging them down. My favorite lines are "Bunch of wannabes that wanna be me, me three of I was you" and "Praying for my downfall many have tried baby" like yes girls tell 'em!
Whip it whip it whip it is hard to pronounce tho haha
3. Typa Girl
Tumblr media
Rating: 8/10
Thoughts:
This song has been stuck in my head for months. I lost count of how many times I had this on repeat haha. I absolutely love the beats and the line, "I bring money to the table not your dinner".
Lyrics is a bit of a pick me girl moment but eh, it's good and catchy 🤷‍♀️
Also, has anyone watched their Coachella set for this song??? The choreo? The creative direction?? EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT. Blackpink headlining Coachella is well deserved 👏👏
4. Yeah Yeah Yeah
Tumblr media
Rating: 7/10
Thoughts:
A song written by Rosie and Jichu! Finally members getting credited amirite?? I actually like it. It's kinda perfect for encores and ending their concerts. Has a retro vibe.
GIF is from yours truly~ They sang this song in Born Pink Bulacan!
5. Hard to Love
Tumblr media
Rating: 10/10
Thoughts:
My absolute favorite. This is what I expected Rose's solo to be like haha. OTG and Gone are good but Hard to Love is THE song for her. This song is stuck in my playlist for months. The guitar is just ❤️❤️
Please Rosie sing this on your tours or concerts I'm begging you.
6. The Happiest Girl
Tumblr media
Rating: 7/10
Thoughts:
It's a pretty...sad song. The lyrics hurt my heart and soul. Maybe it's a song when you are going through a breakup.
I was shookt when Lisa sang! She has such a pretty voice.
I gave it a 7 score bc well it's not really my cup of tea (don't attack me pls). It's good tho don't get me wrong but personally won't have it on repeat.
7. Tally - 10/10
Tumblr media
This song is one of my faves. It has a pretty great message about just being yourself and never minding what other people says.
For me, this song reflects them SO much. Let's be honest here, they've been through so much unneccessary hate. Everything they do, no matter how small, is just always under scrutiny. Like, give them a f**cking break So yes, I imagine that this is THE comfort song for them. We say f*ck when we feel it \m/
8. Ready for Love
Tumblr media
Rating: 7.5/10
Thoughts:
I actually like this song why do other Blinks shade it so much 😅
The bridges are probably my favorite! Jisoo + bridges are such a good combination
-----------------------------------
Top 5 Songs:
Hard to Love
Tally
Typa Girl
Shut Down
Pink Venom
---------------------------------
Overall Score: 8.3/10

got tagged by @bisexualstruggles to post the first 10 songs which come up on shuffle. because I have 3 different yet neatly organized playlists playing at all times, I went into my On Repeat playlist on spotify and hit shuffle.
#1 Tinnitus by TOMORROWXTOGETHER this song is part of a current cluster of new k-pop releases that give me energy without hyping me up. calmer than I usually like, but it takes you from where you are to somewhere you might wanna be.
#2 Free Fall by Slot Machine the English version of the KinnPorsche theme song and I stay unhingedly obsessed. this song is prose.
#3 How Villains Are Made by Madalen Duke no further comments at this time, your honor.
#4 Vengeance by BIBI I would kill for her, I would die for her, but I don’t have to. like, 5th wave feminism is here. “don’t ever get caught again or you’ll see the crazy bitch”? I would probably want to.
#5 Holy by Lexie Lui this song found me through the official Iron Widow playlist, and while that is a very strong association, it just goes hard and did put me onto more Chinese female artists.
#5 Transgender by Crystal Castles moody like me these days with the occasional yeah!
#7 Queendom by Vinida Weng see #5 but also, this song fucks.
#8 Rover by Kai this song fucks as well, but in an enlistment-avoiding, chaebol fuckboy boygroup, not understanding the law or the linear passage of time kinda way.
#9 Bad n Crazy by WooKun Kim the main theme of the eponymous kdrama which I still have to finish watching. Lee Dong Wook is a babygirl of the highest order and I love to see him suffer.
#10 Little Girl Gone by Chinchilla probably my most listened to song of the past 6 weeks, if it has been out that long. time is weird right now. this song is so me, so personal, so michelle-coded I have been wanting to eat it. truly brûler au coeur d’un volcan with this one.
I’m in my insane era, don’t even look at me.
@gryphae and @luziferonholiday.

What's your opinion on the different MegaTen soundtracks? Which series has your favourites? Do you think there are any particularly bad ones?
Ooh thanks for the question! I love listening to MegaTen, my favorite YouTube channels are PSC, which catalogues all of the Persona music, and Megaten Music, which catalogues all of the MegaTen music. They’re great because they include a lot of lesser known soundtracks like OVAs and bonus CDs.
As far as my favorites go, of the Persona tracks I listen to the Persona 2: Innocent Sin soundtrack all the time. My favorite songs from there is definitely Knights of the Holy Lance and Yukino’s Theme. Yukino’s Theme is a bop and Knights of the Holy Lance is THE most hype song in Persona. Fight me.
youtube
I’ve also been listening to Persona 5 Strikers a lot lately, and I have to say I jam out to Counterfeit Phantom every time it comes on, it’s AMAZING.
youtube
The Persona soundtracks are all so good I could talk about each one for hours but I won’t. I WON’T. I’m forcing myself not to. But one more, I really love the Persona 3 Portable soundtrack, I think it deserves more love. One of my favorites from there is Sun, it is a bop, truly. When the horns come in I can’t help but dance, it’s great.
youtube
Switching over to MegaTen, SMT: If has a fantastic soundtrack that all of you should listen to. Tbh Old Enemy - Akira Volume might be the best battle theme I’ve ever heard. It’s so good, gosh. I feel like I keep saying that. Persona 5 had a remix on their soundtrack, which is also amazing, but here’s the original:
youtube
This might be a Steaming Hot Take but also really like the Dx2 soundtrack, particularly Desolation feels like I’m ascending to another reality when I listen to it which is kinda jarring considering everything else about Dx2 is so lackluster but the music is SICK. It’s all on Spotify too, give it a listen if you haven’t.
youtube
Also very much love the SMTV soundtrack, my favorite has got to be the Demi-fiend remix they did, it’s an absolute banger. But I also love Battle -origin- which plays when you fight Fionn, because WOW when I first heard that I was floored.
youtube
Okay this is a recent listen for me but the Raidou game soundtracks??? The HORNS??? My goodness WOW I love it so much. I have yet to listen to the full soundtrack but the main Theme is amazing, it very much makes me think of like, jazzy heists like Great Pretender.
youtube
Slightly veering off MegaTen for my “honorary” MegaTen titles, these are games that I consider in the same category as MegaTen but actually aren’t, but I still wanted to share anyway.
Trauma Center is such an enigma to me. I wish they would bring the series back, I think it’s pretty funny tbh. The series is just about dramatic doctors I think it would be hilarious if it was in MegaTen. Can you imagine. Anyway I love the soundtrack, there’s not really a good rip of it on YouTube unfortunately but like, unironically, they did not need to go this hard. Of course it was Shoji Meguro who composed it so who’s surprised? One of my favorites is Second Opinion, it’s very similar in vibes to Persona tbh. I think Vulnerability was a meme at some point, but I listen to that one quite often as well.
youtube
Okay guys. Listen. Catherine? WHY DOES IT GO SO HARD? I love the remixes they did of classical music so much, I listen to them all the time. My two favorites are Ode to Joy and Beethoven - Piano Sonata No. 14, Op. 27 No. 2 in C Sharp Minor. The former is a BOP and the latter goes INCREDIBLY HARD.
youtube
I’m limiting myself to 10 so this is my last one, but I need you guys to listen to, like, the entire Etrian Odyssey soundtrack, from every game, because they are all on Spotify and they are all amazing. It would be impossible to choose a favorite but one of the bangers on my repeats is Tumult - Raise Thy Sword in Pride Nexus Version, because wow wow wow wow that’s all I have to say about that. Edit: Tumult - Crest of a Violent Wave [Arranged Version] also makes me want to scream it’s so good.
youtube
I don’t know if there’s truly a MegaTen soundtrack I dislike, I listen to most of them quite frequently and every soundtrack has its ups and downs. The soundtrack I dislike the most would probably be the Persona 5 Dancing soundtrack, because I don’t think there’s a single remix on there that I like to the point of listening on repeat, and it’s a shame that the game didn’t include anything from Strikers or Royal by virtue of it coming out before them. It shows that Atlus really jumped the gun on those games and put out rushed and unpolished games that could’ve really benefited by just… waiting. And when the songs in your dancing game aren’t very good, that’s really not a good sign.
Anyway enough negative talk, I love MegaTen music so much, I have a playlist filled with 500 of my favorite songs you can listen to here:
I’m constantly adding more song to this playlist, it’s mostly persona at the moment because it started out as a persona bops playlist and then I started adding a bunch of MegaTen as a whole so I’m still in the process of evening out the ratio. But anyway, give it a listen if you want, it’s quite the playlist lol.
If you have music of your own to share, please do! There’s still a bunch of MegaTen I haven’t heard yet.

HSHSHSHJD I know I already have another ask in ur inbox but I’m just. Super curious rn and I NEED to hear ur take because I trust you will give the best answer ever but. What music do u think stsg listen to? I know teen sugu listening to mitski has been talked about…. But….. what else !! Me personally I see gojo (teen and adult versions) being a biggg Bruno mars fan…. Occasionally listening to gaga…. Maybe some Beyoncé… Katy perry… you get the vibes :3 very upbeat songs that u can just vibe to I think. But DARE I SAY I think gojo would enjoy listening to songs from musicals. At first I think he would be like “musicals??? U mean like theatre??? Boring🤨🤨” (< envisioned teen gojo saying this all arrogant and cocky my little loser <333) but then you catch him screaming the lyrics to some Hamilton song when nobody else is around. He was trying to be cool infront of sugu okay. (He’s my little meowmeow) BUTTTT also. Aside from listening to sadgirl themed music (Mitski, laufey, pheobe Bridgers, etc etc) I feel like suguru would like “older” bands a bit? I know you mentioned him reading classics so it made me think. Maybe a bit of the smiths, the cure, etc…. Part of me wants to say he might listen to modern baseball but. Sigh,… would that be a controversial take chat….. is that just me projecting….. What do u think!!! This got way too long don’t look at me…. Curls into a ball in the corner of the room — stsg anon \(^ヮ^)/
STSG ANON MY DEAREST <3333 i put a bunch of cushions in the corner so you can curl up comfortably!! make yourself at home :3
goshhhh literally every single one of these are so real……… 😵‍💫😵‍💫 gojo listening to upbeat pop music so true, sugu listening to The Classics SO true……. i think he’d absolutely loveeeeee the smiths oh my god. he’s also 100% the type to wear those white tees w some band cover on the front…. oversized and a lil faded….. he’s so babygirl <3333 AND MODERN BASEBALL GODDDD YOUR BRAIN IS SO BIG i always think of him and toru when i listen to tears over beers :((( he would love them…. also can i just say . the mountain goats 👉👈 the front bottoms 👉👈 sugu loves them all !!!
with that being said . SOOOOO REAL SO TRUE SATORU WOULD BE A MUSICAL LOVER THERE’S NO DOUBT IN MY MIND …… technically i KNOW he’s more of a stem kid but in my heart he’s a theatre kid. it just makes sense. AND OFC YOU GET IT STSG ANON ……. ohhh he would love singing along 😔😔 he wouldn’t be able to help himself!!! i feel like he’s sort of embarrassed abt it in high school (”he was trying to be cool in front of suguru” CANON BTW!!!), but when he’s all grown up? COMPLETELY unabashed. he loves musicals so much. his favorite would 100% be the legally blonde musical no i don’t take criticism…. he stans elle woods as he should!! also plays the songs on repeat loudly and it irritates everyone else <33
sadly i feel like sugu would be the boring type :/// who doesn’t like musicals ://////// very disappointing but that’s just who he is . satoru would make him see the light though!!! i can see suguru really enjoying my personal favorite musical of all time…. the guy who didn’t like musicals (WATCH IT IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY IT’S SO GOOD IT CHANGED MY LIFE 😔😔😔) <333 bc of the meta commentary!! and i think he’d like the humour too. usually he just indulges satoru in whatever musical he forces him to watch but when they watch it he genuinely chuckles a couple times and looks interested so satoru gets SO hyped …… cuties
as you can tell i’m Normal abt musicals (i love them so much i would die without them) BUT ANYWAYYY your asks can never be too long stsg anon…. pls don’t worry….. you could write a whole essay and i would simply eat it up <33 THIS WAS SO FUN TO THINK ABT AND I AGREE W ALL YOUR PICKS!!!!

~Album Review~
Tomorrow x Together - The Name Chapter: FREEFALL
10 songs, 29 minutes 22 seconds
Growing Pain
Chasing That Feeling
Back for More (TXT Ver.)
Dreamer
Deep Down
Happily Ever After
Skipping Stones
Blue Spring
Do It Like That
Chasing That Feeling (English Ver.)
Thoughts:
I am a MOA at heart and have been since Run Away era. I am always excited for TXT releases, but I am also critical of them as I expect a lot from this group. They were my most streamed group in 2021 and 2023, I saw them live in 2023, and I have a dedicated playlist on my Spotify with local files of covers and songs not on streaming platforms. Safe to say I'm a diehard fan. However, this release made me feel mixed opinions.
The opening track is my favorite song on the album. TXT knows how to make an opening song that hooks you, and this is no exception. The song gives me 90s and 00s punk vibes. The vocals are crazy on this one, especially from Beomgyu and Yeonjun. I love when TXT does rock. The song blows me away every time I listen to it. Thank you, TXT, for this song. Sadly, this is the high of the album for me.
The title track is highly unexpected, and slightly disappointing. Somehow, CTF is an earworm. When I first listened to it, I was genuinely underwhelmed. Coming right off of Growing Pain, the hype was not maintained. It has a good 80s retro sound, and I really like the lyrics. It is almost too chill for me. Nevertheless, I cannot take it off of my playlist, very catchy. An easy listen is the best way for me to describe it.
Back for More is such a good pre-release. I was addicted to this song in September when it was released. Unfortunately, I overplayed it. The placement of this song is also kind of off-putting. Personally, I think it should have been after the more "edgy" songs of the album. For this reason, along with the overplaying, I always skip it. This song is still extremely captivating on it's own, and I am pleased that TXT got a well promoted pre-release track.
Dreamer and Deep Down have to be 2nd and 3rd place on this album, in no particular order. This is a slight high in the album for me. Here, TXT returns to sounds they have done in the past: R&B and EDM. I have been wanting this from TXT for so long. Interestingly enough, these songs sound slightly "off." Maybe it's the awkwardly high vocals on Dreamer that I cannot imagine being performed live, or the creepy, repetitive 'more' repeated in Deep Down. These are good songs, but I cannot focus too much on the details. Dreamer sounds ethereal and can put me into a trance, until the high notes in the chorus take me out of it. Deep Down gives me Can't We Just Leave The Monster Alive? vibes (a good thing), and is nice to have on a playlist, even if it is not perfectly executed.
Happily Ever After is a classic pop song, similarly to Happy Fools, but not as good. It has a really good pre-chorus and first half of the chorus, but once it gets to those la-la-las I want to skip. However, it's not as skippable as Ice Cream. It is rare that TXT makes a song that I want to skip, but here is the rough in the diamond.
I feel extremely neutral about Skipping Stones. It sounds like an anime outro to me and I cannot tell why. I know it will go hard in a concert setting, and I'm happy it is all in Korean (too many songs all in English). It feels like I should be obsessed with this song, but I am not. Maybe, it will hit after several months or once I see it live.
Blue Spring. Oh, Blue Spring, how I love you. I have had the live version of this song downloaded on my Spotify for months, so this song does not feel new to me. The live version is 100% better than the studio version too. I want to skip this song just so I can listen to the live version instead. This song would have been the PERFECT closer, but instead other songs come next.
Do It Like That and CTF English version kind of ruin the album for me. Without them, this album could have been a solid mini with some ups and downs. Instead, these two close out the album and it makes me feel sour. Do It Like That is not that good of a song to begin with, but it is so old at this point. It was supposed to be their summer bop, what is it doing in Freefall, that has a more alternative vibe, at all? I think Bighit just wanted the Jonas Brothers on the credits for the album honestly. And, even more pandering to the English audience, the English version of CTF is the final song. It is fine to include an English version, but why do they change already English lines to other, worse English lines? The original song had so much English to begin with. Extremely disappointing English version, and it makes me cringe that I'll have to learn these worse lyrics if I want to see them perform this live. I can't even hear Yeonjun sing, "I prepared to die..." or "feels like I'm on fire..." live. They took so much away from me.
Overall, I am somewhat disappointed with this release. When I take out the 3 English songs, it is listenable. I really wish they just made this a mini album, but here we are. Other than DILT, I don't hate any of these songs, so I guess it wasn't so bad.

My thoughts on Treasure's REBOOT album
Ngl I was so worried when the track teasers came out 😩 I thought the spoilers did not sound like Treasure at all. I was so scared I wasn't going to like this album or the direction they would be going after REBOOT.
I shouldn't have been worried though, This is literally their best album so far 😭😭 Every song is a masterpiece 💎
BONA BONA: So fucking good!!! It truly is Treasure's version of Kill This Love! It's different from what they have done before, but similar enough that it still has their 'Treasure Sound'. It's JikJin 2.0 to me. An upgrade in a way. The intro is so good, the prechorus is heaven and then the beat drops and it's epic!! The rap hits so hard, Yoshi once again stole the show for me 💯 The bridge and party ending is perfect, it's what really sold me on this song. If it aint broke don't fix it and the party ending will never go out of style! 🔥
I WANT YOUR LOVE: Title track worthy!! 🙌 This song is so much fun!! The intro + Asahi's voice to start of the song? Doyoung's iconic 'My heart is going bomb' followed by Yoshi rapsinging? Everything I've ever wanted!! The pre-chorus hitting so good!!! At 1:26 there is a verse by Doyoung followed by Asahi and then Junkyu and it's one of the best parts of the album. Their voices complement eachother so well!! The outro by Junkyu and Jihoon made me ascend lol I was listening to it for the first time while driving and when the outro came I was so hyped, I forgot I was in a moving vehicle going 70km/h 😅 I legit got emotional that they got a bside this good, I'm not kidding. I understand 100% why this is the second song on the album. And Junkyu wrote the lyrics for this song??? He's a genius, I'm so proud 💙 I had to put it on repeat for 30 minutes because it's just so good 🙈
RUN: Yoshi's part is so good 😩 He's truly becoming my favorite rapper in Treasure. Usually we get our rap trio all together, but if they do seperate them, Yoshi is mostly the one that gets a part of his own and it brings so much colour to their songs 🌻He's so melodic that when it's a song more focused on vocals, he fits right in 👍 A big surprise listening to the song for the first time was Junghwan's high note??? Did not expect that at all! I love it when the members go out of their comfort zone. Like they could have easily given this part to Jeongwoo or Jihoon, but they gave it to Junghwanie 😭 This is going to be so much fun to sing during concerts. Please Treasure come to Europe!! 🙏🙏 (Also after five times listening to the song, I finally figured out Hyunsuk spells out 'Treasure' during the bridge lol) .
MOVE: 💕🥰😍❤️😘🤗 Congratulations Kim Junkyu on making the perfect song!!!! I have no comments, it's a flawless song and it continues to be my Ho Anthem 🙌 I'm so happy for Doyoung, Jihoon, Jaehyuk, Junghwan and Junkyu. They really got to shine as T5 ✨
G.O.A.T (feat. Lee Younghyun): It's like a song from a musical!!! Like, Yoshi's verse is so playful, he's acting with just his voice. I can already tell it will be a spectacle when they perform this live! 🔥🔥The chorus is so grand, If they ever get to perform at a festival or an award show, it will blow the audience away! When they perform this with a live band, it will be epic 💯 It's good that they included a unit track for HyunHaYo because i feel like it's more of a vocal focussed album with only short rap verses so we really needed this song 🙏 + It was such a good idea to ask Lee Younghyun to feature on this song! I was surprised it was only for the bridge and adlibs for the outro. I thought it would have been like a Epik High/Lee Hi collab where the verses are rapped and the chorus is sung, but it sounds perfect the way that it is now 🎶 I'm thinking that when this is performed live, they will cut out Lee Younghyuns part and make the dance break longer, but I hope that when they do a concert in South Korea, Lee Younghyun will join them at least once 🙏 (Though now that I think about it Jihoon could sing her part perfectly lol 🙌)
STUPID: I just knew this would sound like a BigBang song and I was right!!! Yoshi and Junkyu sound so much like G-Dragon in the chorus, I was genuinly confused for a second when I first heard it. 😅 Jeongwoo and Jihoon sing the second chorus, but I honestly just wanted YoKyu to sing it again 🙈 I'm so proud of Yoshi for writing and producing this song. It's exactly how I thought it would sound and it's perfect! 🌼🌸🌱🏵️ Also shout out to Hyunsuk's rapverse! It's a lot of fun + Junkyu on the outro!!
THE WAY TO: I did not expect it to be only Jeongwoo, Junkyu and Jihoon on this song. I thought it would be all the vocalists, but this song is so good, it legit does not matter! To see this live, I will be in heaven 💙 Jihoons last verse is so emotional and the instrumental is so gorgeous 😭 Also Junkyu's parts were so reminiscent of his cover of 'Beautiful Life'. How crazy is it that we had to wait 4 years to hear Junkyu sing like that again??? I hope we get many more unit songs in the future. It really highlights the members strenghts that they are not always able to show in songs that include all 10 members.
WONDERLAND: Immediate WINNER vibes! ☀️ WINNER just owns the sound of summer 😅 Asahi starts quite a few songs on this album and it's always the best choice! His voice is just perfect to set the tone. Simple and fun song that makes me want to dance ☀️ Doyoung sounds amazing on this song! 1:35 it's not just the best line in the song, it might be the best line on the album! He really stood out to me here! + Jaehyuk got the bridge together with Yoshi🥹 They all fit their parts so well!
B.O.M.B: People were saying it's the new Darari and the people were so right!! Such a feel good/romantic song 💙 The chorus is soooo cute!! It's impossible to not have a smile on your face while listening!! Another masterpiece by our Junkyu 🥹 This man has worked so hard and it's finally paying of i'm so proud!
LOVESICK: When YG said the album would be all new songs, I was so disappointed we wouldn't get Yamai Kor. version, but here it is! 🙌 Yamai is srsly one of my favorite Treasure songs 💙Ever since Asahi said he originally wrote Yamai in Korean, I've been curious to know what it sounds like and what the lyrics were that he wrote. It recently dawned on me that all my favorite Treasure Bsides are made by Asahi. His songs are so uniquely him, you can immediatly tell it's a song by Sahi. It's healing music ❤️I hope he'll get to write many more songs in the future. I'm happy it's on the album because Yamai was released without any promotion and I'm sure many Teume haven't ever heard this song.
I legit cried hearing this song btw. When first listening to the album, I started with Bona Bona, got to 'I Want Your Love' and immediately got emotional because that song is just so good 🙈 I didn't want to listen to 'Run' right away because I wanted to calm down first (because I was driving) so I thought 'lets listen to Lovesick, I already know that song anyway'. By the time I got to the end, I was sobbing lol I don't know what came over me... I guess I was so proud of our members and their hard work, how much they've grown and just how good Lovesick/Yamai is 💎
The only kpop songs that made me not just cry but sob are now:
AKMU - Melted (the MV and song are heartbreaking)
BIGBANG - Still Life (When TOP looked in the camera, I just knew it would be their last song 🥲)
TREASURE - HELLO (The song and MV were just so them! It was everything Treasure stands for and I was so happy I got to be their fan and enjoy their music 🥹)
TREASURE - LOVESICK (The overwhelming feeling of being so proud of how far they've come. Knowing they worked so hard on this album 💙)
Final Thoughts: It's a well rounded album with a lot of party tracks, perfect for a concert tour! A lot of songs feel reminiscent of second gen but with a modern twist. I'm really happy the members had a lot of input into the album, it makes the songs that much more uniquely them. REBOOT really highlighted who they are as artists now, I couldn't have asked for a more perfect album 💎

Sunny Day
Human! Sundrop x Gn! Reader
Masterlist
Warnings: Swearing (I guess if you consider ass as an swear, wasn't sure what other word to use 😭) plus swearing would be in most of my writing
Pronouns: They/Them
Summary: Sundrop basically grew up in the daycare of the pizza plex (don't ask how) so he's never real been outside of there. So when he's getting sick of being around his twin, Moon, you decide to take him outside.
⊱ ────── {.⋅ ⋅.} ───── ⊰
⁽ʸ/ⁿ'ˢ ᴾᴼⱽ⁾
"Moon! Please leave him alone" I've been trying my best to keep these two from ripping each others heads off for the past two hours.
The pizzaplex is closed today so Sun and Moon were kinda stuck with no job to do today. I got in because one, I work here and can open the doors whenever and two, because Sun begged me to come and save him from his brother.
Moon is a menace when he's not around kids. Those kids are the only thing keeping him grounded except for the bad ones, he let's his cruel nature show then. He's been messing with Sun ever since the actual sun rose in the sky.
"Y/N TOLD YOU TO STOP, LEAVE ME ALONE!!" Sun cries out as he runs from the lanky, star covered jester. The golden version of said jester makes his way to me. Hiding as though he's completely invisible.
He's a bit taller than me so seeing this from afar is quite the sight.
"oh~ look at you baby brother~" Moons grin became wider as his eyes narrowed "Hiding behind the security guard, aren't you a sorry sight~"
"Moon, that's enough!" I turn and take Sun's hand in mine. I make my way to the exit of the daycare. Sun waddles along behind me, unsure of where we're going, while Moon slowly follows along sulking a bit.
We exit the entire building and Sun begins to come out of his childish daze. "where are we going Sunshine? We never leave the pizzaplex. In fact, I've never left!"
"we-" I pause.
"I'm not exactly sure where but we'll go somewhere fun, yeah?" I give him a smile that he returns immediately. "I'll keep you away from Moon for the day"
"Yay!" He begins jumping around like the children he works with. He follows like an obediant puppy as I get to my car. I teach him how to get in since he's got long ass limbs that can rival a giraffes neck.
He's bouncing in his seat while I concentrate on driving. As we near a sign, Sun leans closer to the window and he perks up slightly.
"What's up Sunny?" I keep my eyes focused on the road but tilt my head ever so slightly to show him I'm listening.
"THERES A BEACH NEARBY!!" He shouts "Can we go? Can we? Can we?" He starts repeating this over until I finally smile and tell him "ok I don't see why not"
As make a few turns towards the beach he does a little victory dance and starts rambling about how he's never been but has always wanted to because he wants to understand the hype of going out and getting a tan.
"Sun, I swear you're one of the palest people I know, second to only one who is Moon. You will probably burst into flames the second you step out into the Sunlight." I say with a joking tone. A tone he didn't seem to pick up on in his excitement.
He suddenly cowers back. "WHAT?" His eyes are wide as his giggles stop "wait, wait take me back! I don't wanna go anymore!" he's wriggling around trying not to get closer to the beach.
"I was joking!"
"oh"
⊱ ────── {.⋅ time skip ⋅.} ───── ⊰
"Sun, I have a few rules." He was about to run off before he quickly turns on his heels and salutes to me. " 1. If you go in the water, don't go too far. 2. Please try to stay close to me. 3. Please enjoy yourself but also leave everyone else alone, they're doing their own thing and want to be alone."
His grin widens when he suddenly grabs hold of my wrist. "Why would I need anyone else when I have you?" His giggles continue for the rest of the day.
He won a few games but mostly wanted to play in the water since its something he's had little contact with. All the prizes he'd won were placed in the back seat of the car.
It's getting a little dark. "Sun! Come on we should head back!" I grab his attention. As he skips back to me, I start making my way back to the car.
Once I make sure he's safely in the car I got to the drivers seat, and what do I see? A sleeping Sundrop in the passenger seat. He's a giant child but life would be sooo boring without him.
Giving him a little kiss on the cheek, I start the Car and make my way back to return him to his dear brother.
⊱ ────── {.⋅ EXTRA ⋅.} ───── ⊰
Moondrop watched as the two of you got into the car while he pouts at the entrance of the pizzaplex. Why couldn't he come?? 🥺
⊱ ────── {.⋅ ♫ ⋅.} ───── ⊰
Ok but this was so fun to write, AND I remembered Tags this time!! Hope you enjoyed please if you want to ask me to write anything just do. Please I beg! I have a Masterlist for who I write for. <3

y'all i am losing my entire fucking mind
so if you know me like, at all, you know that i am absolutely obsessed with theatre, especially musical theatre, and lately, I've been trying to study foreign musical theatre, especially Asian musical theatre (which is entirely due to the Korean Hamlet rock opera, which i discovered like three years ago and listened to on repeat even though i had no idea what anyone was saying lmao). ANYWAY i've found as of late that Korea has numerous musicals based on Western classic literature, which fucks because 1) musical theatre 2) most of those stories would be made better by being musicals but western musical theatre either won't do them or fucks them up (like there's a Dorian Gray musical??? i've been waiting for one of those for fucking ages???? help)
so today i am going to talk about the Korean musical Frankenstein (프랑켄슈타인 ), which will be opening Nov. 12, 2021, and running through February of 2022 at the Bluesquare Shincard Hall (if you have a chance and can go see it for me, please do) and how fucking GALAXY BRAINED IT IS. NOTE: I am not a Korean speaker, nor do I have any connections to the culture, so if I make an error or say anything offensive, please let me know (My credentials are that I have a degree in theatre and have read Mary Shelley's Frankenstein an unfortunate amount of like four times). Also these are my personal opinions and interpretations of the text, so don't take them as fact, and feel free to discuss your own interpretations!!
Tumblr media
The show was first written and directed by Wang Yongbum, with musical composition and direction by Lee Seongjun, in 2016, where it sold out its 23-show run and was given a 3-week performance extension because of how popular it was. It's since been performed 3 times, coming back to the stage in 2021 for a fourth.
As far as my knowledge goes, Korea has a fairly limited musical theatre canon, at least for original Korean musicals. Typically, when they perform musical theatre, they outsource to other countries for shows, or adapt shows from other languages for Korean audiences, which is absolutely fine, but that makes Frankenstein very exciting, because it is an original Korean show, and made by a team that is known for their original shows. They're also known for not casting kidols in productions in order to draw ticket sales, so the fact that this show did as well as it did with odds stacked against it is incredible (also the amount of tech work in this production is??? incredible).
Anyway the songs all slap and the production value is ICONIC and they double-cast every single part, which brings me to my main topic of conversation: the absolutely galaxy brained decision to make this incredibly gay and also good.
so in the original version of frankenstein, victor is a terrible disaster bastard man and i hate him. If i saw him in real life i would punch him in the face. He is gay and homophobic. a terrible person and a terrible scientist. actually the only character i like in this book is Henry, who deserves the world actually.
WHICH IS WHY THIS MUSICAL GOT ME SO HYPE!!! because they MADE HENRY A MAIN CHARACTER!!! and not only that, but they changed the script so that Victor is like, a military general, I think? idk he's tasked with creating like superhuman soldiers for the military, and since his parents died when he was young, he's got some sort of weird notion that he's cursed, so he decides to go PLUS ULTRA and just. make people. and to do this he grabs field surgeon henry dupre and is like "bitch let's make some people" and henry's like "fuck ok"
now, in the novel, victor is obviously. very into men. given the fact that he creates the most perfect man imaginable with the best proportions and all of his kinks as his creature, but then becomes disgusted with him due to his repression. BUT IN THE MUSICAL henry gets accused of murder and sentenced to death, but before he dies, he sings a whole love song to victor and they hold hands through the jail cell bars and he asks victor to use his body for science, to complete their shared goal, which UM. BITCH. THAT'S????? FUCKING ROMANTIC AS SHIT anyway here's the love song bc it's making me go insane i literally started sobbing when i watched it for the first time. not only is it gorgeous, it's also so full of love and lost dreams and the desire to stay with someone even after death? catch me crying in the club. please do yourself a favor and listen to it, it's gorgeous
Edit: I watched a version with dialogue at the beginning and basically Henry takes the fall for a murder Victor did and when victors like “why did you do that when you’ll die?” Henry says, “because you’ll live” 😭😭😭😭
BUT THEN. THEN. VICTOR HONORS HENRY'S WISHES AND USES HIS BODY TO CREATE THE CREATURE, BRINGING HIM BACK TO LIFE. WHICH. FUCK. makes SO much more sense than him just being like "oh fuk big scary monster lol" and freaking out. if he freaks out because that's his lover, the person he cares most for, and he's just sentenced him to a lifetime of being almost-human-not-quite? I'd freak out too. (Also the lab set when he’s making the monster FUCKS HARD)
(anyway then he like??? sells him to a fighting arena?? idk there's this whole dance number with them throwing henry all over the stage and chains and he gets punched a lot. very very fun you know).
i won't spoil the ending but just know that it's WAY better than the book, with like, an actually satisfying ending for both the creature and victor (satisfying plot-wise), and I'm obsessed with the changes they made, and also just how this musical is tonally and everything overall? i'm gonna start learning korean just so i can go watch theatre.
uhhhh this really wasn't that much of a post just??? i needed to scream about this??? also the love song is once again gorgeous, please go watch it if just to see how beautiful the actor playing henry in this version is
if you're interested in watching more of this show, they have a whole performance of the first act songs here. The cast album (with at least half of the songs) is on Spotify.
The writer said that in the future he hopes it could come to Broadway or West End and I fucking hope so too!!! pls cry with me about this show i'm absolutely not okay

rambling about taylor swift 🤪lol
i know people would probably call me fake or a bandwagoner or whatever lol but i actually think my relationship w taylor's music over the years is cool and it makes me a little emo to think about tbh haha. i was a big fan during the fearless/speak now era when i was in my early/mid teens. then my music taste kind of developed in a bit of a different direction and by the time red dropped (when i was a senior in hs i think) i wasn't as interested and actually never got into that album and wasn't even familiar with the songs other than the most famous ones.
1989 dropped when i was in my sophomore year of college and i had a brief resurgence of interest because it was a great album but i was really just listening like casually and didn't get to know it that well other than the most popular songs. reputation came out after i graduated and i wasn't a fan of the vibes at all so i was like :/ guess i'm officially done with ts? her music and image seemed to be going in a very different direction than i was. as is true for most people haha my music taste had changed a lot between my early teen years and my 20s and altho i enjoy various things, my main vibe is like folk pop/acoustic indie i guess? so when lover dropped i listened to the entire album that night and enjoyed it, but i wasn't super attached.
fast forward a bit. im listening to some acoustic vibes playlist on spotify and there's this song i really like. i look at it and do a double-take bc it's taylor swift?? i had been like vaguely aware that she'd dropped an album during the pandemic (maybe 2? this may even have been after evermore idr haha) but i hadn't listened to it. so i checked it out and i was like. holy cow. this is my EXACT vibe. i love every song. this aligns with my music taste perfectly. same with evermore. i got excited because i did not expect to be a taylor swift fan in 2021. her earlier stuff would always be nostalgic to me, her middle stuff would be decent (of what i'd heard of it at that point), but now i was excited about her music again. because somehow, after all this time, our tastes had aligned again.
i listened to folkmore and evermore on repeat. all day at work. in the shower. while i did the dishes. while i drew. when fearless (taylor's version) dropped, i was kind of iffy because i didn't really see the point of it or understand the hype since we had the originals already and it seemed kind of money-grabby to me. but i had some close friends (anna and abby!) who were very enthusiastic about it and they explained the purpose of her taking ownership of her earlier music. so i listened to the album—and i was surprised by how emotional i got!!!! because these were all the songs i had loved so much when i was younger, but now they were a little more mature sounding, and i felt like i was revisiting and honoring my past the same way taylor was. i fell in love with it all over again and that made me want to familiarize myself with the albums i'd kind of missed. and i fell in love with those too. reputation still isn't my vibe as much as the others but it has some gems i really like. and now i adore lover and red and listen to them all. i was thinking about it recently and decided that after folklore and evermore, red is my favorite album. so im so happy that we have taylor's version of it now!! all these beautiful songs remade!! 10 MINUTE ALL TOO WELL ARE YOU KIDDING!! and all these other new songs aaaaaaa im in love i love this album. and all of her albums. after a whole decade, taylor swift is again one of my favorite and most listened to artists.
idk when i think about the whole thing it makes me a little emotional because i was like an OG taylor fan but then my music taste changed and so did hers, in a different direction from mine, but eventually they converged again, just in time for me to return to my Roots with fearless and then rediscover what i'd missed and fall in love with all of it both for the first and second time simultaneously. idk, im turning 27 soon and it just makes me think about growing up and getting older and at the same time remembering the good things about your younger years and recapturing the nostalgia while still looking forward. it makes me feel hopeful. like there are good things behind me mixed in with the not-so-good things, and the same is true of what's to come. maybe im just someone who's always late to the party lol but it's been special for me find all of these things that spark joy for me this year. and since im ML trash lol all of this intricately tied to that. i got into ML right after lover dropped, and when i got into taylor again i of course applied the love square to every song lol and now i've been hugely inspired creatively by taylor's music in my fanwork as well as just in general. idk it's just special to me to enjoy things and feel things and feel connected to other people through them! i am grateful for taylor and ml and annascribbles and abby (sha-nwa) for getting me back into taylor and also just being wonderful people! heart is v full tonight and im literally just rambling about personal stuff that no one will read but idc bc what else is a blog for!!! lol
anyway stream red (taylor's version)....it's delicious and im emo

the wedding date | morgan rielly
a/n: well first things first, i’m gonna give a shoutout to myself, because i started this fucking thing back in august and it’s finally completed (that’s right, it took me 7 months to write just under 5k, shhh, it finally came together).
anyway, since i started this back in august, you can tell i’ve had this idea for a while. it’s morphed and changed a bit but the basic premise has stayed the same- you go home with morgan for a wedding and everyone thinks that you’re the girl he’s been dating for the last few years- so i hope you all enjoy! (also i’m sorry i suck at titles but like i’m not)
a special shoutout to these lovely people who have listened to me whine about this at any point over the last SEVEN MONTHS and some fellow mo lovers because you’re all amazing and i love you, @denis-scorianov, @brockadoodles, @danglesnipecelly, @laurenairay, @hockeyboysiguess
-----
When Morgan approaches you, with what you’ll later learn is only his first attempt to ask you something, you don’t even give him the chance, really. “Hey, what are you doing this summer?”
“Not you.” You quip back, grinning cheekily, ignoring the barks of laughter from Matthews and Marner beside him.
“Haha.” Morgan deadpans, but it’s busy that night at the bar, Saturday night after a Leafs win, and you’ve really got to get back to work now that you’ve finished serving them, so you’re already walking away from him.
The second time it happens is a Friday night, a few weeks later, when you’re out with some friends for the first time all semester. It’s late enough that you’re feeling just on the right side of tipsy, you’re drunk enough that you know you’re going to go home with the guy you shouldn’t, and you’re okay with both of those things.
At least, tonight you are. Tomorrow morning will be a different story.
And then, Morgan stops you at the bar. “Hey.”
“Hey!” You grin back...and then it slowly fades as he just hems and haws. “What’s up?”
“I-” He blows out a frustrated groan.
Your eyebrows raise. You’ve known Morgan for years now, since his first season with Leafs had been right about when you started working at the bar for some extra cash after realizing just how expensive school was getting and grad school would be beyond that. You’re not sure you’ve ever seen him at such a loss for words. “Alright, well if you can’t think of it now, get back to me later, okay?”
“Wait-” He says, so you give him a minute or two, but there’s still nothing.
“Ok, I love you, but this is my one night out before my dissertation is due later this spring.” You tell him, reaching out for a hug. “You have my number and you know where to find me.”
“Ok.” Morgan smiles a little. “Have fun tonight.” And then you slink away from him, back in the direction of your friends, ready to let loose one last time before the craziness sets in.
The night that Morgan finally gets his question out is a quiet one in the middle of the week. He settles himself into the corner, doing his best to be discrete with a hat covering his face. By the time you and your coworker get everyone settled with drinks and you make your way over to him, he’s caught the attention of one older man, who immediately walks back to his girlfriend when you arrive at Morgan’s section of the bar.
“Well finally.” He’s free of all teammates, a rarity but not unheard of, especially this late in the season. “What’s a guy gotta do to get some service around here?”
“Oh sorry!” You tease. “Did I interrupt something here? Did you want me to call that guy back up so you guys could finish up?”
He flattens you with a look. “Don’t you dare.”
You giggle, leaning down against the bar in front of him. You know how much he loves the Toronto fanbase, but as playoffs approach, the fans are becoming more vocal and more forward with their thoughts. “You want another drink?”
He looks down at his glass, contemplates for a minute, and then nods, so you return quickly with a new beer for him and then smile as you watch him take a large gulp of it. “So what’s new?”
“Ehh loaded question.” He says cryptically. You give him a look. “But hey, you’re here on a Wednesday! You done with your...dissertation?” He trails off hesitantly, smiling at himself when you nod.
“Yup. I should know next week if I’m all clear.”
“And then?” He prompts.
“And then you can call me doctor, asshole.” You tease.
“I mean, Dr. Asshole isn’t what I would have gone with as my first choice, but if that’s what you want…”
“Morgan!” You laugh, ducking your head at the lame joke.
He’s grinning when you meet his eyes again, pleased as always that he could make someone laugh. “But seriously, that’s awesome! I’m excited for you.”
“Thanks.” You grin.
“What’s your next step then?”
“Umm I get to start researching infectious diseases for money.” You tell him excitedly, since you’d accepted a job with the University of Toronto’s medical research facilities. “But it doesn’t start until August.”
You’d expected Morgan to tease you about your excitement of infectious disease-something he and his teammates (among many other people you know) have done multiple times before-but instead, he perks up and says, “So you’d be free, on say, the weekend of July 8th?”
“Why?” You ask suspiciously. Experience has told you not to immediately say yes to this.
Morgan sighs. “Look. I need a date for a wedding back home that weekend.”
“And I’m the best you could come up with?”
“Best?” Morgan repeats. “You are funny, you’re pretty, you’re a doctor, all of which, frankly, puts you well out my league.”
“You’re not wrong.” You agree cheerfully, which puts the smile back on Morgan’s face, as you’d hoped. “But that doesn’t explain why you’d need a date to this wedding.”
The smile fades quickly and you wince. “I was supposed to go with Laura.”
You frown. “What happened to Laura?” Last you’d heard, the two of them were solid. Really solid. Headed for a wedding themselves, solid.
“She wasn’t who I thought she was.” He says flatly.
You wince. “I’m sorry, Mo.”
He shrugs. “It’s over and done with now.” You send him a reassuring smile. “So will you come?”
Well, there’s really no way you can say no now and not feel like an asshole. “Sure.”
The grin returns to his face. “Knew you’d come through for me.”
-----
Morgan rolls up to the airport in Vancouver to pick you up in a very fancy looking Jeep, a far cry from the sporty Porsche he drives in Toronto, and you call him out on it immediately. “I see how it is. You go home and you’re a fancy country boy, not a fancy city boy?”
He laughs. “Fuck off.”
“Gladly.” You tell him, grinning teasingly. “Drop me off at departures, will ya?”
His tone immediately turns serious. “Thank you. Seriously. Thanks for coming.”
Your smile remains on your face, still beaming over at him. “It was nothing, Mo.” It wasn’t, really, and you both know it. You’d quit your bar job a couple weeks early because of this, but you were happy to do this for him. He’d been down about Laura, down about being bounced from the playoffs again. This spring had been rough on him and you were more than happy to do your part to cheer up one of your closest friends.
Morgan hmms, in a way like he’s pretending to be casual about it, but he changes the subject as he switches lanes to pull onto the highway.
-----
Morgan has a whole itinerary for the next few days, prior to the wedding, but promises he’ll take you around to some of his favorite spots before you leave late next week. A quiet night tonight, dinner with his parents and brother tomorrow, and then the wedding stuff began the following day.
Much like his fancy Jeep, his fancy house in Vancouver is also nothing like the condo he owns in Toronto. You wouldn’t go so far as to say that his condo is...edgy, but it’s pretty modern? The house here in Vancouver is larger, sure, but reminds you a lot of the house you grew up in...or well, a larger and fancier version of it.
“Gonna give me a tour?” You turn to Morgan, who’s standing next to you almost awkwardly, as you look up at the beautiful house in front of you. Your bags are still in his hands, and you nudge his arm playfully, reaching for one, but he won’t let you grab it, smiling back at you as he starts to lead you in.
The inside is just as nice, and even though it’s clear that his mom and interior decorator have done a lot of work on it, there’s still a lot of Mo touches too. Each one makes you smile, the ones he points out in his tour and the ones that he doesn’t, until he finally leads you upstairs, dropping your things in one of the spare rooms. “Did I-“
“If the next words out of your mouth are say thank you, I’m walking out of this house.” You warn him.
“-ask what you want to do for dinner tonight?” Morgan finishes lamely and you laugh.
“That sushi place you always hype up?”
Morgan smiles. “Anything you want.” He says, and then, instead of the thank you that you know he wants to say, he pulls you in for a hug and squeezes tightly, before letting go. “Change and we’ll go?”
“Shower, change, and we’ll go.” You correct, dying to get the feel of airplane off you. “45 minutes.”
Morgan looks at you knowingly. “Sure, uh huh.” He says, nodding like he knows it’ll be much closer to an hour, an hour and fifteen, and you laugh, shoving at his shoulder before he makes you want to stretch it out to an hour and a half on purpose.
-----
Morgan’s parents might be the nicest people in the world, but they’re also a little...odd? Like, you’re not trying to be mean, because just like Morgan, they truly are the absolute sweetest, but, like, they just keep smiling at you with this knowing smile, like they know something that you don’t and it’s just...weird.
But they welcome you with open arms, when the two of you show up to dinner on your second night in town, hugging you just as tightly as they hug their own son, maybe even tighter than they hug the son who still lives in the same province as them.
“We’re so excited to finally meet you!” Morgan’s mom gushes, once you get settled in their kitchen with a glass of wine, which at least explains the weirdness a little. “
“You guys too.” You admit. You’ve heard so much about them, his parents and brother, over the years of friendship with Morgan; it’s nice to finally put faces to names, to stories. “Thanks for having me tonight.” Next to you, Morgan nudges you, a grin on his face. You can practically hear him. Stop saying thank you, like you’ve been saying to him for the past day.
“Oh stop!” She says, practically in time with his nudge. “Morgan tells us you’re a doctor now!” It’s said with pride, like you may as well be one of her own children who’s done something great.
“Yeah!” You smile, swirling the wine around a little, and then, because you don’t want there to be any confusion. “Not that kind of doctor; you should still call 911 if something happens.”
His dad laughs and his mom beams. “What kind of doctor then?” His dad asks, and you spend a while talking with his parents about epidemiology and your dissertation- his mom, it turns out, works in a similar field, and it isn’t long before the two of you are rolling your eyes about some research that just came out.
“What?” You ask Morgan, laughing, when your conversation breaks out, and she has to go check on dinner, at his dad’s request, before he burns it all entirely.
“I just forgot how excited you get about infectious diseases.”
“Can’t believe you’ve been out here this whole time knowing that your mom and I both exist and haven’t introduced us.” You announce. “The rudeness, the hearsay.”
“I don’t think that’s how that word’s used.” Morgan cackles.
“Oh, sorry, are you a doctor?”
“That doesn’t have anything to do with knowing how that word is used!” He protests, laughing.
You ignore him. “If you even think of keeping her from me when they come to Toronto…”
He wraps his arm around your shoulders and squeezes. “Wouldn’t dream of it.”
-----
“Are you ready yet?” Morgan calls, and you take one last look in the mirror on the wall, smoothing the pleats in your dress. “We’re going to be late!”
“But it’s gonna be worth it!” You sing-song as you descend the stairs to meet him in the living room.
“Is it ev-” He cuts off abruptly, eyes wide and swallowing visibly as he cuts off. “Wow, okay then.”
“Worth it.” You wink at him, brushing past him to grab your purse.
Morgan’s laughing as he picks up his keys, this soft and gentle thing that you can’t help but smile at. “Yeah, I should’ve known it would be.”
“You’ll know better for tomorrow!” You tease, and breeze past him to get in the car.
The ride to his cousin’s rehearsal dinner isn’t far, spent mostly laughing as you keep switching the station from anything Morgan changes it back to. By the time you arrive at the restaurant, you’re both giggling as you enter, flagged down almost immediately by Morgan’s mom.
“Look at you two!” She gushes.
“Mom.” Morgan says dryly. “Come on.”
She smiles at him indulgently. “Make sure you say hi to your cousin.”
“Yeah, of course.” Morgan nods, grabbing your hand to pull you away. “Just after we hit the bar.” He mutters and you giggle.
His cousin, the bride, and her husband-to-be seem to have the same idea, and it’s just as you’re turning away, wine glasses in hand, that you nearly run into them.
“Oh!” Ashley beams excitedly, once Morgan introduces you. “Hi!”
“Congratulations!” You return the excitement. She’s so bubbly and bright; it’s easy to do, even though you don’t know her. “You guys look so great tonight; you’re going blow us all away tomorrow.”
“She’s going to blow me away tomorrow.” Dylan jokes, but you can tell by the twinkle in his eye that he’s entirely serious.
“Oh stop.” Ashley knocks his arm. “And you too,” She gestures at you. “You look amazing! How’d you do your hair like that?”
“This?” She nods and you walk her through it quickly; it’s a look that’s so much more simple than it looks and she’s gasping by the time you’re done.
“Ok, mhmm.” She nods. “I’m getting your number from Morgan later so you can go over that with me again because I’m definitely going to forget.”
Morgan flicks a piece of your hair. “It’s a hairstyle, what could you possibly forget?”
You and Ashley exchange a look. “I got you.” You reassure her as you both laugh at him.
“Men, honestly.” She shakes her head, as Morgan and Dylan protest, but then before you and Ashley can talk any more, she and Dylan are being called away, and there’s promises for you all to catch up tomorrow at the wedding.
“You can’t have her phone number unless you promise not to talk about me.” Morgan says.
“Fat chance.” You tell him. “But nice try.”
From there, you start making your way back to his parents, stopping off to chat quickly with relatives he recognizes (and once, ducking purposefully into a small crowd to avoid an aunt he doesn’t want to see). You feel like it shouldn’t be surprising how nice his family is, given how genuine Morgan is, but each person you meet welcomes you so warmly, with kind words and open arms.
“You must talk about me a lot.” You tease, as you two start making your way to your table.
Morgan shrugs. “More than I’d realized apparently.” You cackle and he laughs; it’s familiar and easy, but then you’re easily distracted by the appetizers coming to the table and fighting Morgan for extra of your favorites-also familiar and easy.
-----
It’s another morning of Morgan waiting impatiently for you, being rewarded with his gaping jaw dropped, and teasing him the entire ride to the wedding, before he easily gets his revenge when you tear up at the ceremony.
“You don’t even know these people!” He nudges you forward toward his cousin in the reception line right after the ceremony. “And you’re going to cry like that?”
“It was a beautiful ceremony!” You defend. You’d been right yesterday; Ashley had easily blown everyone away from the moment she’d entered the room. Their vows were incredible; you didn’t understand how anyone wasn’t crying.
Morgan snickers, nudging you forward again. “God, what do you do at weddings you actually know the people at?” He pauses as you both step closer another, like the idea has just come to him. “Oh man, what are going to do at your own wedding?”
“Bawl my eyes out, obviously.” You say dryly. “Tell my future husband to bring tissues.” You move up, next in line for Ashley and Dylan. “You clearly didn’t get the message.”
“What’d you do?” Ashley pokes him; you guess whoever was in front of you was a guest she didn’t know all that well because they’ve moved along pretty quickly.
“Me? I’d never.” Morgan says innocently, ducking down to kiss her cheek.
“I’m just giving him a hard time.” You agree and she grins, shocking you when she pulls you in for a hug.
“He probably deserves it.” She says cheerfully.
“Wow, I see family loyalty goes a long way here, huh.” Morgan deadpans.
Ashley gives him a look. “Not for much longer, I guess, though?” She nudges him.
“Oh I see how it is, you’ve been married for all of five minutes and suddenly Dylan’s family is better than ours?” Morgan teases.
Ashley blinks. “That is...not how I meant that at all.” She says, but before she can say anything else to you, the couple behind the two of you starts sighing impatiently, and you all realize how long you’ve been talking for. You quickly congratulate her and then move along to Dylan as well, before stepping out of line and moving towards the reception area.
The bridal party was quick to get the reception started after the ceremony, so when you and Morgan make your way over, there’s already a decent sized group chatting and drinking. You both grab drinks from the bar and make your way to a group of his cousins, chatting for a while and laughing along as they’re sure to include you in all of their jokes.
When it comes time to start making your way to your table for dinner, you excuse yourself to the bathroom quickly, running into Morgan’s grandmother when you’re there, who had the same idea as you it seems.
She lights up when she sees you fixing your hair in the mirror, stepping up to wash her hands. “It looks great.” She assures you and you smile, thanking her. “Are you having a good time?”
You nod, following her out so the two of you can make your way back to the reception. “Such a good time! Everyone’s been amazing and Ashley and Dylan are beautiful; it’s been a great weekend!”
“It’ll be great to be all be here again,” Morgan’s grandmother smiles at you and you return it politely. “Next summer.” She adds, like an afterthought, and you shrug. She’d know better than you what the upcoming engagements look like. You can barely remember the names of the people you’re seated with tonight.
“If Morgan brings me back then.” You throw her a finger gun and she laughs-loudly.
“Oh, you’re a trip!” She nudges you gently, laughing. “Such a doll. Let’s get another glass of wine together before we go back, shall we?”
“I will never say no to that.” You’re pretty sure you still have a couple minutes to spare before you need to sit down.
His grandmother links arms with you. “My kinda gal.” She beams and her smile is contagious, just like Morgan’s is when he’s really happy, so it’s not hard to grin along with her as she tugs you along for another glass of rosé.
-----
The evening’s winding down- the wedding long over and the after party beginning to do so as well. Almost all of the older relatives have made their way home or to their hotel rooms but there’s a few sloppy cousins and friends still going hard (you’ve got some serious concerns how the one groomsman is even going to make it upstairs). Ashley and Dylan keep stealing glances at each other, like they’re wondering if it’s late enough for them to sneak away yet, but each time they look like they’re going to, someone calls for another toast.
Morgan nudges you. “Hey.” He reaches into his jacket pocket and pulls out a couple cigars. “Outside with me?”
You think about it for a second. Usually, you love a good cigar-and you’re sure that Morgan’s managed to acquire a good one- but tonight? “Not really in the mood, but I’ll come out.”
He grins, a little crooked, and offers his hand to help you up from the couch the two of you have been sitting on. Outside, the weather is beautiful, one of those crystal clear nights with a light breeze where you feel like you could be outside for hours. He lights the cigar while you continue to sip at your wine, the two of you standing in comfortable silence, until the door opens again.
“Cigars without me?” His brother grumbles. “I see how it is now.”
“Yup, just left you behind on purpose.” Morgan says shamelessly, but he’s already pulling the spare out of his pocket and handing it over.
“Unsurprising.”
“Yeah?” Morgan asks, amusedly. “Why’s that?”
His brother gives him a look, and then, when Morgan doesn’t react, looks over at you, but you just shrug. “Just promise you won’t forget about me once you pop the question.”
You choke on your drink; Morgan looks just as shocked, the cigar halfway to his mouth. “What?” He says finally.
For the first time, his brother looks unsure. “I think...we all just thought...once you brought her home, that was the only thing holding you back?”
“Oh my god.” Morgan says breathlessly.
“I’m not-” You add helplessly. “We’re not-”
“Oh.” His brother winces. “Wait, so you’re not…” He trails off and the silence between the three of you becomes so thick it’s almost palpable. You don’t know what to do, what to say. What he even means. “You’re not together?” He says finally, sounding like he’d rather be anywhere else, doing anything else.
You can relate. You shake your head slowly, notice Morgan’s doing the same out of the corner of your eye.
“Um.” His brother continues. “And-and you haven’t been-together?” Another head shake. “Wow. A lot of people are going to be very disappointed.”
“A lot of people?” Morgan repeats. “Who...who all thinks this?” But you don’t need an answer to know and apparently, he doesn’t either. The silence thickens somehow; you didn’t think it was possible.
“Um.” His brother’s already backing away, even as he speaks. “I’m gonna go now. Before I say anything else to make this worse.”
He’s gone before you can tell him you’re not sure that’s possible, leaving you and Morgan in the loudest silence you’ve ever experienced.
It’s abundantly clear Morgan feels it too, from the way he won’t even meet your eyes, will barely even look at you, actually. And there’s so much to say here, but well, “You never brought Laura to meet your family? Never let them meet her at home?” Apparently, they really weren’t as serious as you’d thought.
Morgan laughs hollowly, finally meeting your eyes. “That probably should have been a clue, huh?”
“A little bit of a red flag.” You agree. It’d been how many years? Morgan’s tight with his family, that much you knew before you’d come out here and only became clearer as you met them. “Why...why didn’t you ever introduce them?”
Morgan sighs. “I think-I always knew something wasn’t right. And I just didn’t want to admit it?” He sighs again. “I shouldn’t have brought you into this.”
“You didn’t know.” You tell him gently. “And I wanted to come.” You remind him. “I was happy to!” You pause for a second. “I was happy to come across the country to a wedding with you and your family with barely a second thought. So maybe we both need to re-examine what happened here this weekend.”
“Maybe we don’t.” Morgan says simply.
“What?” You frown, confused.
“You were happy to fly across the country for a wedding with me and my family.” Morgan repeats, with a small smile on his face. “And then you come here and meet my entire family, and they think I’m ready to propose to you, because you're the girl they hear me talk about all the time.” Your jaw drops-is he saying...what you think he’s saying-and his smile grows into a grin. “I think this thing between us has been more than either of us have been able to admit because we’ve had other things going on- school or hockey or-”
“Other girlfriends?” You supply teasingly, when he trails off, like he’s afraid to mention her name.
He nods. “There’ve been other boyfriends, too.” He nudges you, just as teasing.
“There have.” You admit, because it’s not a lie, but none of them have ever worked out, for a variety of reasons, but you can’t help but think, that now that he’s mentioning it, Morgan might have been a part of those other reasons.
He’s back to smiling again when he continues, leaning against you slightly. “I think we owe it to ourselves to see what we could be.”
You lean back against him. “You do, do you?”
“I do.” He nods.
“Little early for that, don’t you think?” It takes a second for your joke to land, but once it does, he cracks up and it brings a smile to your face.
“We are at a wedding.” He grins, nudging you playfully. “Who knows, maybe someday it’ll be ours?”
-----
a bit in the future
It’s one of those beautiful sunny days where the sun is shining with a light breeze where you feel like you could be outside for hours.
Unfortunately, you’ve got a huge project due at the end of the week, so while Morgan’s been enjoying the lake all day, you’ve been sitting at a table on the dock, staring at your laptop, tapping away at your keyboard, and ignoring his increasingly annoying calls for attention.
It’s harder to ignore when he comes up next to you, wrapping his wet arms around your shoulders. “Morgan.” You try to shake him off. “Come on, gimme like ten minutes and then I’ll come in.”
“Promise?” He asks.
“Yes.” You say because if you can get this one last thing done you’ll be ahead of your goal for the day.
It works; Morgan sits down next to you quietly, scrolling through his phone for a bit, and then, jumps up and runs inside the cabin, and you jump on the opportunity of quiet to get ahead even further, losing yourself in your next bit of project.
“Hey,” Morgan says casually, and it scares you a bit, his return far quieter than he’s been all day. “What are you doing the weekend of July 8th?”
“I don’t know, that’s like a year away!.” You snap, turning to tell him to stop annoying you, only for your jaw to drop when you see him down on one knee.
“Want to get married then?” He says, a twinkle in his eye and a grin on his face, like he’s been waiting for this reaction, like it was everything and more.
“Oh my god! Are you serious?” He slips his hand into his pocket and pulls out a ring; you gasp. “Morgan!”
“Will you marry me?”
“Yes, oh my god, yes!” Your computer long forgotten in the face of an engagement ring, you throw yourself at Morgan, who catches you easily, like he was prepared for this. He probably was. He knows you better than anyone; he’s your best friend and so much more. He barely manages to slip the ring on your finger before you’re kissing him. “I love you!”
“I love you, too.” He grins. “Are you sure you’re ready to take this jump with me?”
“Of course!” You beam, but it hits you just a minute too late. He’s already jumping in the water. “You’re the worst.” You sputter out at him, purposefully spitting lake water at his face.
He doesn’t even look like he minds. “For better or worse.” He grins.
“That’s not what that’s referring to!” You splash him and he splashes back but before it can devolve into a full on splash attack, he’s pulling you into his arms.
“I mean it though.” He says, kissing you again. “And I’ll tell you again, next summer, at our wedding.”
Our wedding. The words sound almost unreal, too good to be true. “I’ll be the one in white.” You promise. “Or, well, maybe ivory.” You say and it’s hard to kiss Morgan then when he’s laughing so hard.
