The fact that Judaism is trending because of both the wave of bomb threats on synagogues and Bradley Cooper's Antisemitism Adventure (his huge fake prosthetic nose, and him basically stealing the story from a Jewish man) is so infuriating and so exhaustingly typical.

The fact that I see Judaism trending on Tumblr and immediately think "oh no. Something Bad is happening to us." We're never trending cause it's fucking good. I never get to be excited, it's just cold dread.

The fact that Antisemitism is getting worse everyday and the only ones who ever talk about it are other Jews. The fact that no one else fucking cares. The only ones who support us are other Jews. Even when gentiles talk about Nazis or white supremacists they don't want to help us. We're just their prop, the canary in the coal mine and the perfect victim.

Calling statements like "Israel is committing genocide against the people it's displaced" inherently antisemitic is doing more to further the idea that all Jewish people are associated with Israel than saying "the Israeli government is doing war crimes," which is a statement of fact about a country that exists and does war crimes. Is criticism of Israel as a nation often used as cover for antisemitism? Absolutely. Does that mean the Israeli government isn't doing literal war crimes repeatedly, on record, while talking publicly about scrubbing an ethnic group off the map? okay….. what on earth was that tess death?? the scene leading up to it with tess convincing joel to continue with ellie was almost perfect (it would have been 100% perfect if they didn't leave out the line "there has to be enough here that you feel some sort of obligation to me" which is way better than the line they chose and makes more sense!!!) but the death???? man, in the game she says "i will not become one of them" - the ferociousness in the way she says it and the emotion in that scene just makes sense for her - and the whole purpose of her being left behind was to go out in her “own way” and that felt really grossly and unnecessarily done and taking away from that choice.
