Like… I get the sentiment and maybe it’s bc Jowd is the one w/ the memories, but… I just feel like Lynne should have taken him home. To me, they were the ones who had an especially important relationship, while Jowd felt less prominent, relationship-wise…

Sorry to bother you about this, bu I wanted to talk about something. I think you are a few years older than me (I am 22) and the only person older than me that I know on tumblr. My grandma is 87 and actually will turn 88 in less than a week. We already set up a date for a birthday party in about a week. My grandma was found unconscious I the night of yesterday to today. She apparntly she had internal bleeding and had to be reanimated. She actually has stated as a patients will (1/?)

that she doesn’t want to be reanimated or be connected to any machines though (in it is legally binding here, so I don’t know why the doctors did it). She is stable for now and it looks like she will get better again. And here is why I am writing you: even though I would be sad for sure I kind of feel like it would have beenbetter for her if she died. She told us more than once that she wants to die. She is blind, can not walk alone and can’t do much anymore. She lives in a retirement home (2/3)

where she gets proper medical treatment. And I feel horrrible to say that I wished she died. But seeing her wishing to die, saying that for at least 2-3 years and imagining her condition continue to worsen until she can’t even get up anymore… I just wish for her to have a peaceful ending without a lot of suffering and waiting. But I feel so much guilt for thinking that. Thank you for reading until now. Just getting this out helped a lot.

hello, sorry for the late reply, i was waiting until i got on desktop properly to answer you. i am a couple of years older than you, you’re correct, but i don’t know if i can really give you a clear opinion on this matter, but i’m glad you felt better getting this all out, and i will try to reply as best i can. 

first of all, i’m a little confused too, with why they would go against her wishes (especially because you said it’s legally binding) but i guess what’s done is done. Second of all, please don’t feel horrible about thinking like this. I won’t go into too much detail, or speak about myself because this is about you, but i think maybe this will help a little. I know what it’s like to see a grandparent suffer through the last years of their life and it’s a terrible thing. you have to struggle between your own heartache and your heartache for them, putting yourself in their shoes and wondering how it feels, what kind of life they’re living. i wouldn’t wish what happened to my granddad on my worst enemy, it was so horrendous and debilitating (He suffered with mnd/als) and throughout it he expressed his wishes to die too. Watching someone you love suffer like that is one of the worst things, especially when you think back to how healthy they once were, and how life is such a cruel thing. 

We all want for our loved ones to die in peace, so please don’t ever feel guilty about thinking such a thing, especially if they’re suffering at such an extent. however, sadly, sometimes it just doesn’t work out like that. the only thing you can do is be there for her, be strong, and brave, and make her even more proud of you than she already is no doubt. sending all my love to you and your family 💞 and i’m always here if you want to speak (even if it’s in private).
