Could Anyone With Cosplay and/or Sewing Experience Help Me?
I am wondering if the style of this dress has a name? I want to cosplay Galadriel (Specifically her look from Rings of Power) but since I am a broke college student, I don't want to spend a whole lot of money on materials like foam and stuff to make armor, even though I would love to do that one day. For now, I want to keep it simple, which is why I chose this outfit below.
I'm trying to look up patterns but I'm having no luck. So far, I have looked up some simple nightgown designs as inspiration, but I can't find anything with the right neckline. All the patterns I find that are close have a square neckline, which is not the correct look. As we can see, Galadriel's dress has a curved neckline. It also has that bunched look at the top, which I have no idea what that's called either. As you can probably tell, I have no experience with sewing clothes, but I really want to try, and I think this could be easy once I get a good pattern and find the right fabric. I am planning on embroidering the designs on the neck and sleeves once I get the actual sewing done, but I don't want to buy any of the other materials until I know I can find a proper pattern to follow.
Any help or advice on this would be greatly appreciated and I will love you forever if you are able to give me any tips or suggestions!
Cosplay community this is a cry for help how do i attach horns to my forehead theyre made out of cardboard so preferably a way that i wont have to wash off (at least not with enough water to damage them)
Also i have a very low budget considering the fact that im a teenager who doesn't have an official job yet (so like 15$ cad at most)
Also incase its important theyre like a little less that two inches tall, the base is roughly the size of a toonie (canadian 2$ coin) and the base is also slightly curved to fit my forehead better
A cool picture from my time at (a now defunct) local con last month. A bit sad to see it go but it was definitely nice while it lasted.
Finally got my enmu suit jacket properly finished, compared to when I first wore it in March I still needed to sew the lining in and put buttons and buttonholes on, so I thankfully got that done in time for this one.
I swear this suit jacket has tried to take me out at least twice, the first time was when I had to do some serious con crunching to get it wearable in time and the second time when I was trying to get it properly finished. Thankfully the second time around wasn’t as severe, it’s not that the stuff I had to do was difficult, I just had other things I wanted to do so I had to make myself work on it so I could wear it. So that’s what I did.
Hey beginner cosplayers I just wanted to say that no matter what you got this and any beginning is a good beginning! Just getting started is hard so good job taking that step! Here are some little tips!
Get some basic wigs that you can use for multiple cosplays.
Try thrifting bed sheets for fabric if you’re sewing your own cosplay. You can also find good base pieces for cosplays.
Don’t be afraid to use your own hair!
Closet cosplays are just as good as normal cosplays, so don’t be afraid to throw something together from your closet.
Try watching tons of YouTube cosplay videos. There are lots of helpful ones. Makeup videos are especially helpful.
Buy drugstore makeup! It’s just as good for cosplay as more expensive brands.
The biggest advice I have for beginner cosplayers is to connect with other cosplayers and to make friends. This is the best was to grow and have fun!
agnes cosplay update: just bought some liquid gold eyeshadow so we can give her some golden tears. i'm excited that we're getting close to what i'd consider done, but also nervous because my uni has a 'nerdy' event coming up and im gonna enter their cosplay masquerade, which will be my first ever 😳💀 shit, as they say, just got real
+wig my wig just came in today!!! It definitely needs some styling but it’ll work good for my cosplay. All I got left to do for it is 1. Get a white bra 😅 and 2. Make her boots, I’ll be starting that as soon as I get paid and get get the foam.
