So I had 2 characters as wips, I decided to finish Belladonna's remake first as I got more for it. She's quite different now, though still kept the nature witch thing and purple vibes. Also recycled Yume's old modern looks (she's not gonna be part of this story) for her. Also finally name-dropping the city all these characters mostly live in.

Name: Beatrice Dubois

Nicknames: Bella/Bea (GF Amalia) Aunt Bee/busy bee (Janus, Amalia's nephew) Nosy woman (Angus, a doctor/Amalia's Seeker coworker)

Age: 70 in human years, considered to be around middle-aged by nature witch standards. (Different types of witches have different lifespans, though majority tend to live between 100-150 years on average)

A Forest witch with quite powerful and versatile powers

Occupation: Investigative journalist/honorary aunt

Family: Honorary nephews Sebastian, Kaspian, and Janus

Friends: Franziska Belmont (A cat witch) Yui Araknos (A popular jazz-singer spider woman) Mariella Mirasol (A tree nymph)

Love interest: Amalia Marek (A wyvern)

Abilities:

She can create, nurture and wither any types of plants from flowers, to vines, to even trees. She can also recognize any type of plant instantly, and utilize their properties from poison, to sedatives, to antidotes, etc.

She can create objects from the plant matter, such as furniture, tools and weapons, etc.

She can use her plants to "hear" and "See" things; just a small leaf of hers on the corner of a room she's not in allows her to eavesdrop on things.

She can morph her talisman into any useful tool, though it is limited in size to something she can hold.

If she stops using her talisman, she can create quite powerful attacks, such as tree golems or near unbreakable vines. She tends to struggle to control these things though...

Weaknesses:

Like all forest witches, without her talisman Beatrice struggles with controlling her abilities and might cause havoc accidentally. Her magic is also relatively weak against fire based magic.

Her nosy, curious nature sometimes lands her in trouble, and can annoy people around her (such as Angus Belmont, a well known doctor she's acquainted with due to his connections to the Seekers)

Personality:

Beatrice is very curious and easily excitable person, who loves to solve mysteries and unearth hidden secrets. She is very determined and stubborn when it comes to reaching her current goals, sometimes to the detriment of her own well being.

She's generally seen as an eccentric, fun person to be around, although to some Beatrice might be a bit much with her energy, where her energetic charm turns into more of an annoyance.

While she seems quite emotional, Beatrice is capable of thinking rationally and detach herself from whatever she is investigating, no matter how emotionally taxing it is. She generally has two "modes" as she calls them; "casual mode" and "journalist mode," and she's much calmer and more serious in demeanor with the latter.

Due to being very intuitive and sharp minded, Beatrice is able to pick up on things others don't, and notice even slight changes in a scene or a person's behavior. She also has very little tolerance for bullshit, and is not afraid to call someone out on it once she's hit her breaking point. "You have to be patient in my job, but sometimes you just can't even" as she puts it.

Fun Facts:

Beatrice lovers dressing in retro-inspired fashion, and mostly sticks to purples, reds, and neutral colors like black, white, and beiges.

She might sometimes wear green in reference to her girlfriend though, such as during their dates.

She is a lesbian, and didn't actually have a girlfriend before Amalia, being so focused on her studies.

She does often annoy her young honorary nephew that's living with her girlfriend, but Janus does like her deep down. Especially given how she was more than willing to call out his parents to their face alongside his aunt.

She lives in a penthouse and has a full on greenhouse room in it. Like is typical for her kind, she does enjoy gardening quite a bit and tends to often go there to meditate and contemplate on whatever case she's investigating

The park Mariella looks after is one of her favorites, and that is where she met her in fact, and the pair became friends.

She knows her GF is a Shadowless - a special secret operative of sorts for the Mirror World's highest council - and sometimes jokingly asks her about her job, knowing she is not allowed to tell her about it.

She has a red and a pink version of the polka dot shirt. Generally she tends to have the same outfit in multiple different colors.

Uma jovem chamada Bella. Ela vivia em uma pequena aldeia e sempre sonhou em viajar e explorar o mundo além das fronteiras de sua cidade natal e seus livros. Um dia, enquanto ela passeava pela floresta, Bella encontrou uma fera assustadora e misteriosa. Ela ficou assustada no início, mas ao longo do tempo, descobriu que a fera não era má, apenas solitária. Eles começaram a conversar e, com o tempo, se tornaram amigos. Mas o pai de Bella um comerciante podre, decidiu fazer um negócio com a fera e entregou a própria filha para a fera em troca de riquezas e sucesso em seus negócios. Assim que Bella soube do acordo entre seu pai e a fera, ela ficou horrorizada e triste. Ela não podia acreditar que seu pai a entregaria assim, como se ela fosse uma mercadoria. The Suicide Squad (2021) ☠️ commento incazzato

Una buon idea di base che viene di proposito sviluppata male per rendere il film demenziale splatter e la parodia di se stesso.

Harley Quinn brilla come sempre ed è affascinante ma se si butta un diamante in mezzo al fango si confonderà con esso ed era meglio che non ce la mettevano.

La trama a tratti interessante e variopinta diventa poi disgustosa detestabile e soprattutto inaccettabile.

Alcuni vecchi personaggi del film precedente (2016) vengono ripresi accompagnati da altri cattivi DC tutto in un mix di supereroi di serie Z.

Un film che per me non esiste non lo guarderò più o forse lo guarderò solo per ritrovare quei (pochi) punti interessanti che andrebbero valorizzati e tagliare tutti gli altri che invece lo penalizzano. Perché è proprio così alcune parti sono andate benissimo anche per la musica ma altre andavano a prendere in giro la stessa storia ridicolizzandola e rendendola anche spesso difficile da guardare.

Il nemico… Possiamo chiamarlo nemico? Starro: una gigantesca stella marina che fa pensare a vecchissimi film di Godzilla venuti male.

L’inizio poi? Pensavo di stare per guardare un film che mi avrebbe lasciato affascinata come il primo Suicide ed ero già ad occhi spalancati a forma di stelle, dico si inizia bene con Johnny Cash e poi neanche un minuto di film e il cattivo che sarebbe morto cinque minuti dopo uccide senza il minimo senso e necessità un fringuello! Inaccettabile di cattivo gusto e senza senso, perché questa scena? Poi sempre parlando di fringuelli il cattivo della situazione successiva da fuoco a un’intera voliera di pappagalli… Ma perché? Posso dedurre che il regista ha problemi con i volatili? Un’altra azione senza senso che fa star male chi vede le cose con un minimo di giudizio senso e sentimento.

Sempre dal punto di vista animale una ragazza ha il potere di chiamare i topi a sé … Alla fine tutti i topi della città (molti più di quanti ce ne sarebbero) attaccano questa stella marina gigante… inguardabile!

Poi Flag e Boomerang vengono introdotti nella storia solo per ucciderli? No grazie per me non è mai successo.

Una storia che va corretta sistemata, le buone idee vanno rivalutate e tolte tutte quelle scene ridicole e anche quelle demenziali. Va bene sorridere divertirsi ma non uscire dal tracciato di quello che dovrebbe essere un buon film di supereroi… Siamo sempre nell’epoca di Batman e sarebbe inaccettabile questo umorismo se ci fosse anche lui e potrebbe comparire…in teoria.

A proposito di Batman, che fine hanno fatto tutte le premesse presentate nel post credit del film precedente?

Batman è un film che sta uscendo proprio questo periodo con un ennesimo attore e dunque anche per questo motivo The Suicide Squad si è svincolato dal precedente post credit scene del primo Suicide: altro Batman altra storia.

Il fatto è che lo chiamano standalone sequel. Vorrebbe dire che è staccato dal primo ed è staccato da tutto il resto… tranne che da una serie spin-off.

Sembra che la DC faccia di tutto per dimostrare ormai che la Marvel ha vinto… La DC ha perso non è riuscita a creare un universo non è riuscita a fare le cose artisticamente e ora diventa una barzelletta parodia dei suoi supereroi.

E la storia d’amore di Flag?

Solo Viola Davis sembra fare le cose sul serio.

Che dire poi del titolo? Come il precedente ma con The davanti.

E questi altri super cattivi?

L'Acchiappatopi (Ratcatcher) è un criminale nemico ricorrente di Batman.

Bloodsport, Robert DuBois, è stato un nemico ricorrente di Superman.

Polka-Dot Man è un supercattivo nemico di Batman. Un tipo che è già ridicolo di suo ma così sembra anche più scemo, quando vede la madre ovunque è assurdo, in Starro poi…

Ah Starro! Starfish! Vogliamo paragonarlo a Thanos ?

Magari può anche andare bene per i fumetti degli anni 60 (Starro è comparso nei fumetti nel 1960) ma direi che non fa proprio una bella figura come cattivo! Rende sempre tutto più caricatura di tutto e non si riesce a capire come mai la DC abbia dei supereroi fantastici come Batman e Superman e cattivi come Joker ma questo… una stella marina gigante che vaga per lo spazio? La Marvel vince con il suo Cinematic Universe in cui è riuscita ad inglobare anche quei due film di Spider-Man e qui invece si sbriciola tutto senza senso… Disastro! Starro anche nel suo stesso nome esprime una certa ridicola espressione di sé.

E Capitan Boomerang?

Che senso ha avuto farlo partecipare a questo film solo per ucciderlo dopo cinque minuti? Non era meglio lasciarlo in cella come Deadshot?

È un film che ha delle buone idee ma dei pezzi che sono inguardabili e dunque andrebbe tagliato, tagliare le parti venute male come in un corretto editing, togliere tutta quella ridicolaggine e renderlo divertente ma non demenziale. Va bene ridere perché uno si diverte ma non va bene ridere perché qualcosa è ridicolo quando si parla dei supereroi… Sto rimpiangendo la serie animata di Batman degli anni 90 quelle si che erano cose fatte bene!

La cosa che più mi dispiace di questo film è che c’è Harley Quinn, se non ci fosse stata lei non avrei avuto problemi a buttarlo nel cesso, tirare l’acqua e dimenticarmelo per sempre ma lei, superlativa come sempre non posso dimenticarla nella sua nuova sfumatura rossa e nera… Peccato!

Mi viene in mente un altro film demenziale che è stato il nuovo seguito di un migliore film vecchio, che a questo punto non si meritava un tale seguito: The Predator (2018)!

The Suicide Squad è stato scritto e diretto da James Gunn. Mi sono stupita nel constatare che si è occupato dei guardiani della galassia che invece per me sono stati perfetti, certo un po’ fuori dalle righe, sempre divertente ma mai demenziale… Direi che qui ha calcato troppo la mano rovinando tutto e pasticciandolo fino all’inverosimile! Leggendo la sua wiki ho capito, è tutto più chiaro, questo Gunn era stato licenziato dalla Disney e dalla Marvel perché quello che aveva proposto per i Guardiani della Galassia 3 non è piaciuto. Allora ha riversato le stesse idee di cattivo gusto su questo film? Una “roba” del genere non si sarebbe mai vista in un film della Marvel che comunque mantiene sempre un certo stile, classe e dignità. E questo non vuol dire essere noiosi ma essere artistici.

AMORE IN AFFITTO CAPITOLO 1

Nordlingen, un regno abitato da 19.268 abitanti, situato in uno dei sette distretti dell'impero germanico, era nota per le sue fortificazioni ben conservate nel tempo. Il centro storico era conosciuto per le enormi mura che lo recintavano, percorribili a piedi. Il regno era situato nel distretto numero cinque, chiamato Svevia. All'interno della fortezza di Nordlingen si trovava il castello di Von Reichmerl, maniero dallo stile medievale, proprietà del barone Heinreich Von Reichmerl. Il bisnonno del barone aveva fatto costruire il castello dopo aver ricevuto in dono quelle terre dal kaiser in persona, al termine di una lunga guerra che coinvolse l'impero tedesco. Il barone Heinreich Lothar Von Reichmerl venne quindi messo a capo di Nordlingen, e da quel momento la sua discendenza non avrebbe mai lasciato quelle terre. Alla morte del barone Albrecht Von Reichmerl, il nipote di Heinreich Lothar, il castello e tutti gli impegni ufficiali passarono automaticamente al primogenito. Questi era Heinreich, figlio maggiore di Albrecht e di sua moglie, la baronessa Kunigunde, una nobildonna proveniente da un altro distretto. La coppia aveva avuto anche una figlia femmina: Elisabeth, soprannominata Lise.

Quel giorno, appena il sole era sorto sul regno, al castello era cominciato un frenetico via vai dei domestici all'interno del grande corridoio del maniero. Tutti si stavano dando un gran da fare perché a breve un'importante ospite sarebbe giunta al castello.

Corinne Lefebvre era una bella giovane donna di trent'anni proveniente da Dubois, città della Francia del nord. I suoi capelli erano lunghi, lisci e di colore blu indaco, mentre i suoi occhi ricordavano uno zaffiro. Come ogni mattina la signorina Corinne si stava preparando per iniziare la sua manzione di maid presso il “Neko Café Bistrot”. Quel posto era sorto in una delle numerose sale del castello ed era stato arredato con ogni comfort che si ricerca in un caffetteria. La fama di quel luogo nasceva dalla possibilità di gustare squisiti dolci o appetitosi salati, trascorrendo il tempo coccolando tanti bellissimi gatti e chiacchierando con le ragazze del Neko Café Bistrot. Lei, come le sue colleghe, viveva lì da diverso tempo e trascorreva la sua intera giornata lavorando alla caffetteria del castello. I capelli indaco riflettevano la sua divisa nera con sopra il grembiule bianco.

Al tocco finale ci pensava un grazioso fiocco indaco sotto il colletto della divisa. Era finalmente pronta, una nuova giornata al Neko Café Bistrot era appena iniziata e Corinne si sentiva carica. Uscita dalla sua stanza, percorse il corridoio che l'avrebbe poi condotta alla sala, tra pochi minuti il Neko Café Bistrot avrebbe aperto le sue porte ai clienti. Mentre accoglieva gli arrivati assieme alle sue college, si accorse della sua compagna di lavoro Francesca che stava correndo verso la sua direzione, come sempre la sua collega italiana era in ritardo. Corinne trasse un sospiro sconsolato pensando tra sé e sé che era un miracolo se ancora il barone non si era accorto dei suoi continui arrivi in ritardo.

<< Francesca, sei in ritardo anche stamattina?! Lo sai bene quanto me che alle 9:30 dobbiamo essere pronte per accogliere i nostri clienti. >> partì Corinne con il suo monologo da madre disperata.

<< Oh, mamma mia! Non è colpa mia se la sveglia non ha suonato, arrabbiati con lei invece che con me! >> replicò la bionda sistemando il suo grembiule.

<< A te non suona mai la sveglia, è diverso! Davvero, dovresti considerarti miracolata se ancora sua altezza non si è accorto dei tuoi continui ritardi. >> controbatté scocciata Corinne.

<< Non si è accorto perché non faccio tardi, io arrivo un minuto prima che i clienti si accorgano che non sono ancora arrivata. >> precisò Francesca ridacchiando. Corinne rivolse lo sguardo al soffitto, discutere con la ragazza era una battaglia persa, era meglio lasciar perdere. La maid dai capelli indaco si mise quindi alla sua postazione a preparare caffè, ed intanto osservava una gioviale bambina che stava facendo colazione mentre scherzava con i genitori. Scene come questa la rendevano sempre un po' malinconica, questo poiché le rammentavano che non aveva mai effettivamente trascorso del tempo spensierato con i propri genitori. Corinne era nata in una ricca famiglia, suo padre sempre via per viaggi d'affari, mentre la madre era purtroppo venuta a mancare presto. Fin da bambina aveva sempre trascorso le sue giornata circondata dalle cure della sua tata e del resto dei domestici. Perfino nelle occasioni speciali come compleanni, la giovane aveva sempre e solo festeggiato con tutti tranne che con suo padre. Nonostante la vita agiata le era mancato qualcosa di più importante, qualcosa che non lo si può comprare nemmeno con tutto l'oro del mondo: la presenza dei genitori. Col tempo aveva imparato a rassegnarsi e a concentrarsi principalmente su se stessa, il suo obiettivo era quello di diventare una famosa violinista come era stata la sua defunta madre. Per questa ragione aveva passato gran parte del suo tempo ad esercitarsi nella sua camera da letto, riuscendo anche ad ottenere un discreto successo. La sua carriera si interruppe tuttavia quando decise di iniziare a lavorare presso il castello di Von Reichmerl.

<< Corinne, sei richiesta al tavolo cinque. >> udì ad un tratto. Era la voce di Francesca, che fece tornare la donna con i piedi per terra – Corinne annuì alla collega per poi dirigersi verso il tavolo numero cinque. Si sedette in compagnia di un impacciato ragazzo con gli occhiali, sorridendo mentre intratteneva una conversazione col giovane cliente.

Intanto Francesca stava preparando una serie di cappuccini, che una volta pronti sistemò su un vassoio, in attesa che una delle colleghe lo portasse al tavolo numero otto. In quel momento, un gatto tigrato salì sul bancone osservando la maid dai capelli biondi, si trattava di Mokaccino. La ragazza sorrise al gatto per poi fargli qualche carezza sulla testa, mentre il micio faceva le fusa in segno di apprezzamento. I gatti del Neko Café Bistrot erano sei, e tutti, prima di diventare la principale fonte di attrazione della caffetteria, erano stati dei randagi. Francesca, come le altre, apprezzava molto che il barone avesse preferito adottare dei mici di strada piuttosto che rivolgersi a qualche allevamento. Mokaccino era il teppista del gruppo, non perdeva mai l’occasione per combinare qualche monelleria, come ad esempio buttare giù dal tavolo qualche bicchiere quando non riceveva le attenzioni richieste.

<< Adesso però devo riprendere il servizio, a differenza tua se io combino qualcosa non mi dicono che sono adorabile. >> disse sarcasticamente Francesca. Mokaccino proferì un miagolio quasi come a concordare con la bionda; ed un attimo dopo, girò il muso verso dei passi familiari che si avvicinavano. Si trattava di una cameriera dai capelli verdi, Maris Eliades, ragazza ventiquattrenne proveniente dalla Grecia. Maris sorrise al monello Mokaccino, e poi prese il vassoio di cappuccini per portarlo ad un tavolo di ragazze che stava spettegolando. Camminando, osservava la bella giornata di sole da una delle finestre della sala, impaziente di terminare il turno mattutino per potersi finalmente dedicare ad un po' di giardinaggio.

Intanto, seduta su uno sgabello a gambe accavallate c'era Ilona Kuznetsov, una donna affasciante di trentanove anni. Ilona era la più grande in quel gruppo di maid e proveniva da Zaytsev, un paese dell'Europa dell'est. A causa dei suoi modi di fare un po' snob era sempre vista in maniera piuttosto negativa dalle altre maid. Si vantava spesso del suo fascino perché prima di lavorare al castello di Von Reichmerl, era stata una famosa modella nel suo paese.

<< Sei ancora lì seduta?! Guarda che i piatti non escono da soli dalla cucina, eh. >> proferì con tono contrariato una voce femminile. Ilona rivolse lo sguardo verso la voce, per vedere una ragazza dalla chioma rossa che la fissava male, le sue braccia incrociate.

<< Invece di farmi la morale, perché non lo fai tu, Judith? >> ribatté la donna dai capelli viola.

<< Io lo sto già facendo, ma come sai anche tu, non lavoro solo io in questo posto! >> Judith stava cominciando ad innervosirsi, e la sua faccia divenne rossa per la rabbia. Notando una certa tensione, Maris si fece avanti dando una leggera pacca sulla spalla di Judith Bennet. Sorrise poi alla collega irlandese, quasi come a invitarla a non fare scenate in presenza dei clienti. La ragazza fece un respiro profondo, e dopo essersi calmata, prese uno dei vassoi e riprese il suo servizio; mentre Maris lanciava uno sguardo ad Ilona.

<< In ogni caso Judith ha ragione, non puoi sempre fare come se fossi la reginetta della caffetteria, eh? O inizierò a prendere in considerazione l'idea di fare rapporto a sua altezza. >> disse la giovane dai capelli verdi. A quelle parole Ilona tornò al lavoro sbuffando, e fu in quel momento che dalla cucina si udì un “Suka Blyat”, seguito da musica di propaganda comunista sovietica in una variante remix. Era opera di Svetlana, una donna russa di ormai ottant'anni che lavorava come cuoca al castello fin da quando il barone era ancora adolescente. Maris osservò la porta della cucina con un sopracciglio alzato, lei come tutti si domandava come mai l'anziana donna dicesse sempre e solo quelle due parole. Un attimo dopo, al fianco di Maris giunse Evelyn Mclean, la sua compagna di lavoro inglese dai capelli azzurri. Evelyn era la più piccola del gruppo e non proferiva mai parola, al punto che molti la credono muta. Si esprimeva scrivendo su una lavagnetta bianca di plastica, e in quel caso aveva scritto che il barone non sarebbe stato felice di sentire quella musica se fosse stato presente.

<< Hai ragione Evelyn, già me lo immagino esordire con il suo solito “Se il mio povero nonno potesse sentire, si rivolterebbe nella tomba.” o sbaglio? >> rispose Maris ridendo leggermente.

L'orologio del castello rintoccò le 14:00, ciò significava che il turno mattutino era terminato, la caffetteria avrebbe riaperto alla clientela alle 16:30. Finalmente anche le maid potevano godere di qualche ora di riposo, e mentre il trambusto nel castello proseguiva, si domandavano chi mai sarebbe giunto al castello.

<< Visto tutto il chiasso da questa mattina, deve trattarsi di un ospite molto importante, sarà sicuramente un politico. >> dichiarò ad un tratto Judith mentre sorseggiava una tazza di caffè.

<< Oppure un bel nobile in cerca di moglie. >> controbatté Francesca già con gli occhi sognanti a tale pensiero.

<< Ma tu non volevi sposare sua altezza? >> le chiese di conseguenza Corinne.

<< Lo voglio ancora, che domande. >> rispose Francesca coprendosi il viso con i lunghi capelli biondi.

<< Secondo me non lo sa nemmeno lei cosa vuole. >> aggiunse Ilona guardando l'italiana.

<< Suvvia, lo sappiamo che la nostra Francesca è una romantica sognatrice, vero? >> disse Maris orientando lo sguardo sulla bionda. Corinne, nel mentre, se ne stava in silenzio persa nei suoi pensieri, anche lei si domandava chi sarebbe arrivato da un momento all'altro. Improvvisamente un pensiero avvolse la sua mente: e se fosse una nobile donna venuta per un matrimonio combinato? Un po' strano considerando che ormai il barone aveva sessant'anni, ciò però non escludeva la possibilità di un eventuale matrimonio per ragioni politiche. L'idea che il barone fosse o potesse diventare innamorato di un'altra donna, fece venire un forte turbamento alla povera Corinne.

<< Corinne? Tutto bene? >> chiese d’un tratto Judith.

<< Eh? Sì, sì, certo. >> diede risposta la donna dai capelli indaco.

<< Sicura? Non sembra, sai. >> obbiettò la rossa con preoccupazione. Ma Corinne insisteva che tutto era sotto controllo, e che la sua collega irlandese si stava preoccupando inutilmente.

<< D'accordo se lo dici tu, mi fido. >> espresse la rossa. In verità Judith Bennet non credeva affatto che tutto fosse apposto come insisteva Corinne, ma essendo evidente che la donna non voleva confidare i suoi problemi, preferì non insistere ulteriormente.

<< Evelyn, secondo te chi è quest'ospite importante? >> interrogò curiosa Francesca. La giovane con i capelli azzurri prese la sua lavagnetta per poi disegnare un punto di domanda, segno che non aveva nessuna idea sulla persona in questione.

<< Magari è una donna venuta per conoscere sua altezza. >> pronunciò di colpo Maris. A quelle parole Corinne sentì nuovamente una pugnalata al petto, stavolta ancora più decisiva.

<< Anche fosse non potrebbe certo competere con la sottoscritta! >> obiettò istantaneamente Ilona. La realtà era che tutte le presenti erano turbate da questa eventualità, in fondo tutte avevano lo stesso obiettivo: conquistare il cuore del loro titolare. Ad un tratto, il portone della caffetteria si aprì; era Gerry, l'anziano maggiordomo di casa Von Reichmerl.

<< Perdonate il disturbo ragazze, ma il padrone vuole vedervi immediatamente nella sala del trono. >> disse l'uomo. Le sei maid si alzarono subito dalle sedie e uscirono dalla stanza per giungere alla sala. Camminando lungo il corridoio insieme alle altre, Maris pensava tra sé e sé, convinta che riguardasse l'arrivo del misterioso ospite. Sapeva bene che quando il barone convocava nella sala del trono era per questioni importanti. Le fanciulle camminavano in gruppo senza fiatare, fino a quando arrivarono al portone che le separava dalla stanza. Quando entrarono nel grande salone, vennero annunciate al barone dal maggiordomo Gerry, che le aveva precedute. Le donne si misero in fila una di fianco all'altra, chinando il busto in segno di rispetto al loro titolare. Quando Corinne rivolse lo sguardo al barone, si accorse della presenza di una giovane ragazza dai capelli rosa e di bassa statura, che indossava un grazioso vestito blu con dei pizzi. Rimase alla sua vista spiazzata, un misto di ansia e confusione. Chi era quella ragazzina? Non poteva certo essere una pretendente, e nemmeno la figlia dell'uomo. Che Corinne sapesse il barone non era mai stato sposato, né tantomeno aveva alcun erede. Restava quindi da attendere spiegazioni direttamente dal padrone di casa, spiegazioni che fortunatamente non tardarono ad arrivare.

<< Immagino che vi state domandando come mai vi ho fatte venire tutte qui. >> annunciò il nobile, seduto sul trono con la gamba sinistra accavallata sulla destra. Le maid annuirono contemporaneamente senza proferire parola.

<< Lei è Gloriosa Von Richtofen, figlia della mia defunta sorella e di conseguenza mia nipote.>> proseguì il barone. A quelle parole tutte trassero silenziosamente un sospiro di sollievo.

<< Purtroppo i suoi genitori sono venuti recentemente a mancare, e visto che sono stato nominato suo tutore, verrà a vivere qui con noi. >> concluse l'uomo guardando le sue dipendenti. Gloriosa guardava intanto con indifferenza le donne, per poi controbattere allo zio.

<< Non capisco perché devo venire a vivere qui! Ho 18 anni, potevo tranquillamente rimanere al mio castello in pace! >> replicò infastidita la fanciulla dai capelli rosa. Le cameriere si guardarono tra loro, pensando che la nuova arrivata avesse un gran brutto carattere.

2023 - Reasons to Ride...

First off, 2022 gave me three more reasons to ride:

Currivan Alouidor, a friend and former colleague, who lost his battle with Osteosarcoma after beating it five previous times. He was only 36.

Kathleen Hathaway, the mother of one of my daughter’s friends. She became disoriented in the Spring of 2022. When she went to the doctor they discovered a brain tumor. On August 12th, 2022 she passed away. She was only 52. Her youngest had just finished college.

Bella DuBois, my PMC Team’s 2022 Pedal Partner. She lost her battle to Osteosarcoma on December 8th, 2022. She was only 15 years old.

I will be thinking about Currivan, Kathleen, and Bella, in addition to all the others who I ride for, in this year’s PMC.

2023 Pedal Partner: Teagan!

This year my team is partnered up with another teenage girl fighting cancer.  Her name is Teagan. She is currently battling  Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

I am a 14 year old dancer. I started to dance around my second birthday. It is something my sister Madison and I both enjoy. I like to spend time with my friends, sister, and cousin. We all love shopping. The Jimmy Fund provided me with the best treatment and support for myself and my family.

I have yet to meet her in person, but she sounds like another great kid in a very difficult battle.

My Friend from College: Chris Greklek

Chris was diagnosed with multiple myeloma (a blood cancer) over 15 years ago. He's beaten it 5 times and has been in remission, finally, for over 5 years. 

However, 18 months ago, he was diagnosed with stage 4 rectal cancer that has also spread to his liver.

My friend Chris has really been put through a great deal. It really speaks to his character to go through all that he has gone through and still have such a positive attitude. It is truly inspiring. I asked him how I can help. He tells me to keep on riding and raising money for Dana-Farber. I will certainly be doing that for quite a while!

On top of Chris’s continuing battle with cancer, he is also suffering financially as the bills for his treatment pile up. More about that on the GoFundMe page that has been set up for him.

Arquitectura en México. (Parte 1)

En México, la arquitectura va muchísimo más allá de ser unas de las Bellas Artes. Nos habla de un contexto histórico de lo más singular, pues como la historia con México y sus edificios no hay dos en este mundo.

Así que para darnos aunque sea una mínima idea, demos un paseo por los estilos arquitectónicos que han habido en este país.

Neoclasicismo

En un intento por revivir la belleza Clásica es que nació el Neoclásico. Pero veamos cómo fue el estilo en la Ciudad de México.

Se podrá discutir que hay un estilo ecléctico en esta construcción, pero siento que hay indudablemente una presencia del estilo clásico en la construcción.

Es un gran representativo de la arquitectura neoclásica para el patrimonio de México.

Es un ejemplo modesto y sutil de la arquitectura neoclásica mexicana.

Arquitectura de Hierro

Con la incorporación de los metales fundidos a la construcción la arquitectura dio toda una vuelta, pues más allá de únicamente la estructura, hubieron cambios significativos en el ámbito estético. Echemos un vistazo.

¡Tiene una historia simplemente fascinante! Desde cómo se concedió la tienda departamental por primera vez, pasó por el incendio, y renació como un edificio precioso en el centro de la capital.

Por su curiosa historia de ser transportado entre países, hasta por ser una construcción icónica y altamente popular.

Eclecticismo 

Sin adherirse a ninguna teoría de la estética en específico, el eclecticismo sacó lo mejor de distintos estilos, y formó el suyo propio. Una combinación de lo antiguo con lo moderno.
