i watched 8.10 two days ago but i can't stop thinking about it. like breaking the B plot down:

sam meets with amelia for the first time since he left her, and she gives him an ultimatum: you're either in, or you're out. going halfway won't work. sam has to decide whether to return to her after they finish the job (rescuing samandriel)

benny, who previously started his relationship with dean by giving him the same ultimatum (you're either in, or you're out), calls dean in a crisis, struggling with his bloodlust which is by and large framed as an addiction. he asks dean to meet him after they finish the job (rescuing samandriel)

dean and sam discuss this after they finish the job, and dean reiterates the ultimatum: sam has to be either all in, or all out. he can't be a hunter and have relationships outside of them. whatever he decides, it has to be either-or

sam leaves to think it over, and it's revealed that dean was actually talking about himself. he calls benny and says he's out: he chooses sam over benny

sam returns to dean with food, implying that he's chosen dean over amelia, and this is confirmed when amelia shows up at the motel and sam isn't there

it's just insane to me that they paralleled sam breaking up (once and for all) with amelia with dean cutting off contact with benny. the implications of this are insane: benny was dean's "girl" who took sam's place while they were separated. benny and dean were in a relationship similar to the one sam and amelia were in. and sam and dean both "break up" with their previous partners and choose each other.

and then there's the fact that dean and benny both framed their relationship as being familial, as being brothers. and still this was paralleled with the romantic relationship between sam and amelia.

dean having a metaphorically romantic subplot with a guy is one thing. dean having a metaphorically romantic subplot with the guy who's supposed to be a replacement for his brother? sure. okay.

this is just such a deranged subplot to me. who gave the okay on this

Here's a vampire AU I made! Twist to this is that Gordon's a vampire, Benrey's human and just weird as fuck. There's no real plot to this (though at the time of writing this post I do plan to write a fic or two), but @/winkyfaceanon has made two really sweet fics for this AU, check em out!

These are listed in order of when I wrote them, and they take place in different continuities for the most part. Pretty much all of them are Frenrey, so if you don't like Frenrey you mayy not want to read it. Majority of my fics are oneshots, since I have low motivation jnsdkjfnds. You're still here, and you're beautiful to me. Takes place post-canon. Benrey respawns after Xen, and none of his injuries are healed. He then finds Gordon, who helps to take care of his injuries. I personally consider this one of my best works. There's things I'd change now, of course, but I still love it a lot. Read the content warnings.

as long as your heart continues to beat. Takes place during canon. Benrey's listening to Gordon's heartbeat after the betrayal. And then it stops. This one isn't beta read and I wrote it in like, a few hours on the fly, so it's not my best, but I like it.

Cuddles are the best cure for depression actually. Takes place post-canon. This is exactly what it says on the tin. Benrey's got depression and can't get out of bed, Gordon cuddles him. Short but sweet.

If ten million fireflies lit up the world as I fell asleep. Takes place post-canon. Gordon and Benrey are kinda in a relationship, and Benrey gets a package at the door that he's not letting Gordon see. In the middle of the night, Gordon gets to see what it is. This one's REALLY cute, and I really love it. It's fluffy and it's sweet.

all for the love of you. Saying this straight-up, READ THE CONTENT WARNINGS. Takes place post-canon. Tommy finds a... note from Benrey that he wrote before Xen. I have more complicated feelings towards this fic, I don't personally like it as much in retrospect and think I could've done much better on it, but I'm putting it here since it is still one of my fics. Read the content warnings, for the love of god.

Benrey gets drunk fic. Takes place post-canon. This is just a fluff fic I wrote for the third HLVRAI anniversary where Benrey's drunk and flirting with a very sober and very gay Gordon, who does not know how to cope with this.

Only the first thousand or so words are on Ao3, the rest are in Google Docs, as I made... choices that could only be made in Google Docs. I personally think this is one of my best works, and if you are in a space where you can read it, please do, this over anything. Read the content warnings.

Love your Benny posts but I thought I might help clarify something. You wrote -> “He goes on benders according to Swank so he really isn’t above all the “missing the tribal days” syndrome all the other Chairmen have.” Tommy Torini is the one who mentions Benny goes on benders. However that’s not actually the case. Benny is actually using the secret escape tunnel in his room to leave The Strip without anyone knowing. Everyone assumes he’s on a bender because he locks himself in his room. Tommy even mentions Benny usually is gone for a couple a days but this time his bender was a month long. We know Benny wasn’t on a month long bender because he was killing and taking the platinum Chip from us. Anyway love your Fallout New Vegas posts sorry to ramble!

But what I was implying was that this behavior wasn’t unusual enough in the first place that people were suspicious from the start. Swank has been handling all the casino business stuff and he talks about it in a way that it makes it seem like he’s used to it, but is gotten harder since Benny started his plan (unbeknown to everyone). I’m aware of the tunnel but I was mostly filling in for the before stuff cause even when you get to the Strip, Benny is just stsnding around doing jack shit and not helping. I can imagine he is slightly less of an opener hater to the other parts of the Strip and visits. I mean people gotta have met the dude at least a few times to have such a universal hatred for him.

The tribal nostalgia is really directed towards his odd adherence to Boot Rider traditions in a Chairman way. The only thing we really know about out their specific hierarchy and structure is respect and honor are valued greatly and were at least expressed through sparring/combat a lot (how Benny became chief and how grateful he is if you choose to take him to the pit). I’d also like to point out the Khans are the ones that just wanted him to shoot the Courier with the bag over their head and Benny insisted they didn’t.

It’s inconsistent and it’s why I harked on them cause Benny is insistent on moving away from the past and the game shows it with how hard it is to get any real detail about what anything pertaining to other aspects of his past.
