Day 12 - The Danish Ruby Parure Tiara
The Danish Ruby Parure Tiara
This tiara began its life as a series of hair combs, purchased by Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte for his wife, Desiree, to wear at Napoleon’s coronation in 1804. When Bernadotte was elected Crown Prince of Sweden, the rubies became royal jewels. The combs were made into a bandeau by Queen Alexandrine of Denmark, who had received them from her mother-in-law, Lovisa of Sweden. Queen Ingrid turned the bandeau into a grand wreath tiara, which is now worn by Crown Princess Mary of Denmark. - The court Jewellery.com

👑 Day Three: Favorite Norwegian Tiara
Norwegian Amethyst Tiara
Details from The Court Jeweler:
The amethyst and diamond parure consists of several pieces: a convertible necklace/tiara, a pair of earrings with removable drops, a ring, two bracelets that can be combined and worn together as a second necklace, and a brooch that can also be attached as a part of the bracelet-necklace. The provenance of the set has never been shared by the Norwegian royal family. While some have speculated that it may have been was a gift to Queen Sonja from her husband, King Harald V of Norway, others disagree. The jewelry historian Trond Noren Isaksen posits in his book, Ingrid Alexandras Arv, that the amethyst set was acquired from Garrard in the 1990s as a replacement for another jewel, a pink tourmaline tiara that had been purchased from the descendants of Countess Estelle Bernadotte. Isaksen writes that the tourmaline tiara, like Queen Maud’s Pearl Tiara, was stolen in the raid on Garrard’s London headquarters in February 1995.

Royal Tiara Highlights: Swedish Aquamarine Kokoshnik Tiara
It’s believed this tiara originally belonged to Margaret of Connaught, who was married to King Gustaf VI Adolf of Sweden and it is part of a set that also features a brooch. The maker of the set is unknown.
The set is believed to be under the possession of Princess Margaretha, sister of King Carl XVI Gustaf, but she chooses to keep it in the vaults with the rest of the Bernadotte jewels so other family members can wear it.

~ "Pair of antique amethyst and diamond ear pendants, part of the Swedish Royal amethyst parure, early 19th Century, designed as a pair of pear cut amethysts within old cut diamond surround, alternate by a foliate shaped motif, mounted in gold and silver. The parure has an interesting provenance, it was a gift by Napoleon to his first wife Empress Josephine. Joséphine de Beauharnais gave the amethyst parure to her daughter-in-law, Princess Augusta of Bavaria, who had married Eugène de Beauharnais in 1806, who became the Duke and Duchess of Leuchtenberg. Because Augusta’s father, King Maximilian I Joseph of Bavaria, gave the couple this name. Augusta passed the suite along to her own daughter, Joséphine of Leuchtenberg, when she married the future King Oscar I of Sweden and Norway in 1823. The amethysts have been in the Swedish royal collection ever since; today they are a part of the Bernadotte family jewel foundation, and so they cannot be sold." ~

𝙸𝙽𝚃𝚁𝙾𝙳𝚄𝙲𝙸𝙽𝙶 ... CECILIA LOUISA AMALIA BERNADOTTE
well dear readers it seems that CECILIA LOUISA AMALIA BERNADOTTE  has been seen preparing for the upcoming season and they go by her majesty, queen cecilia of sweden. it’s been said that they resemble maia mitchell but we can’t see it, although we noticed they have reached the age of thirty. whenever we see them we are quickly reminded of a kind heart hidden behind a regal exterior, the finest jewels adorning her neck, the notes of a soft melody from a piano, filling an empty room & an unwavering resolve. we can’t wait to see them make their way through this season.
𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙘𝙨
full name : cecilia louisa amalia bernadotte . nickname/s : cece . pronouns : she / her . age : thirty . star sign : leo . family : erik karl bernadotte ( father ), charlotte filippa bernadotte ( mother ), unnamed younger siblings / twins ). home : sweden .
𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙
cecilia was born the eldest child and daughter to the queen and king of sweden. she was considered their miracle child as the king and queen did not marry until their thirties and they had spent five years attempting to have a child. under normal circumstances for a royal, they may have been disappointed that she was born a girl but they only happy that she was safe and healthy.
from the moment she could read and write, cece was given an education befitting of the heir to the throne. she was taught in the ways of international and home politics, relations, ruling etc. she even spent majority of her childhood and teenage years, shadowing her father. she wanted to make her parents and country proud.
cece had always been quite gifted at the piano. she would often spend her nights or free time, practicing various pieces from local and international composers. she would even entertain guests to the palace with entertainment. when she was playing, she could almost pretend she was not a princess, was not the future ruler of sweden.
even though she had a regal air about her and was the picture of eloquence and manners, cecilia has an extremely kind heart. she has never been the type to abandon people when they need help or refuse to lend an ear when someone needs to vent. however, her kindness should never be mistaken for weakness.
in a tragic accident, her parents were lost at sea over a year ago. cece had always known she would become queen but never did she think it would happen so soon and while she was still so young. as a family and country, they entered a state of mourning for a year. two months ago, she was crowned queen.
she has travelled to england to work on the relationship between the two countries, at the invitation of queen charlotte, but her advisors have informed her that this may be the perfect opportunity to find a husband, the future king of sweden.

The Ruby Set
The Ruby Set was first worn at Napoleon's imperial coronation in 1804 by Desiree, the later Queen of Sweden. The set came to Denmark in 1869, when her great-granddaughter Princess Lovisa married the Danish Crown Prince Frederik VIII. Queen Ingrid bequeathed the ruby set to Crown Prince Frederik.
The parure will be on display at Koldinghus as part of Mary & Kronprinsesserne. The exhibit runs from 1 February to 30 December 2022.

Royal Tiara Highlights: The Cameo Parure
The parure was created in 1804 for Empress Joséphine of France, probably made by Napoleon’s court jeweler Marie-Étienne Nitot. The set featured a grand tiara, a necklace, a bracelet and a pair of earrings.
Exactly what happened to the parure after Joséphine’s death is unclear. It is believed that the jewels ended up in the possession of her son Eugène as his daughter Joséphine of Leuchtenberg - future Queen Josefina of Sweden and Norway - was painted wearing the tiara multiple times. The set remains in the Swedish Royal Family and the tiara is constantly worn by the Bernadotte women on their wedding days.
