Elton John and Bernie Taupin are the living example that platonic male friendships exist (also between a gay and a straight man). This kind of friendship is an amazing gift and I am so sick and tired of people watching this movie and saying stuff like 'Bernie liked him back, he just never admitted it.'

No.

'But Bernie told Elton he loved him multiple times.'

Yes.

In a platonic, brotherly way. There's nothing wrong with men telling each other they love each other. Because.. surprise.. men have feelings too. No matter their sexuality.

Elton and Bernie are two real people. Both are married (Elton with his husband, Bernie with his wife) and both deserve to live their life.

So could you please stop convincing each other that Bernie was 'in denial' when he just clearly was and still is an amazing friend to Elton and still is friends with him until this day?

Fandom and queer pairings are fun and nice but it stops when you pull real people into your little 'headcanons'.

Late night posting on how much the Elton John/ Bernie Taupin Patrick Stump/ Pete Wentz parallel breaks my soul.

Soulmate best friends who create music together. One creates heart crushing lyrics that speak to the soul. The other creates the melodies that perfectly match said lyrics. One who write words for his soulmate to perform who then sings said lyrics in return. The friends who parted ways for a bit only to come back because without eachother they couldn't make music.

A Parody of Elton John and Bernie Taupin’s song, Have Mercy on the Criminal by ME

The video is probably VERY visually distracting, but I’ve never figured out how to upload just straight audio to tumblr and I really only had energy for a one take wonder. I didn’t have the tune down pat, so I relied on the music app to guide me.

Anyway there’s a lot of sympathy for the Minotaur meta going around and I love it. Which lead me to think of Elton John’s song, and since I knew I wanted to sing it first here we are! Below the cut are the edited lyrics I used, with parentheses around the words I accidentally said.
