Similar to the way that The Last Jedi was about Poe's need to #standwithher and not run away from the Resistance as a BernieBro despite the Resistance's total failure, the new Star Trek Picard is about whether 7 of 9 must over come her selfishness in organizing independently and join the feckless and abusive American democratic party/federal bureaucracy/Federation

Is it just me or has Big Lips Berniebro Mcgee been in too many houses? I come across a website often where it gives us supposed information about specific people, and the supposed info on Andrew Hussie on that site lists a lot of houses. I don't know if he's been renting them or if it's just his other family members, but he is definitely messed up when he moves houses after a few weeks or months. Jeesh.
Maybe I'm the wrong one here and I maybe he's moved houses once a year or two, but y'know.

I am seriously worried for Harris because her stans seem determined to turn into BernieBros 2.0 and think that attacking everyone who writes about the actual candidates who campaigned this election cycle is a good way to help her become President. And I'm concerned about the people around her. I want to see a woman president in my lifetime and I honestly think she'd be great at the job, but her supporters aren't helping her at all and it's concerning.
I don't think Kamala Harris should even run for president period. She might win a primary, especially if there are a lot of candidates splitting the vote, but I literally do not believe she has any chance of winning a general election. She's a prosecutor so a lot of progressives will whine about her and depress turnout, but she's a progressive prosecutor so centrists/moderates who Democrats need to win (and won bigly last Tuesday!!) will pick a Republican over her.
Hillary Clinton had a 69% approval rating when she left her post as Secretary of State and the media still managed to drag her down so she barely lost in 2016!! And HRC is a much more skilled politician than Harris even if HRC is super polarizing as well.
I want a woman president, and I want a woman of color president, but I don't want someone who'll lose the general election and hand the keys over to a Republican president and especially to a Republican judiciary. Even without Trump, any Republican would have picked Kavanaugh/Gorsuch/Amy Coney Barrett like Roe was gone the moment any Republican won in 2016 with a Republican Senate.
That said, approval ratings can change with time and if Harris becomes the Democratic nominee, I'll of course vote for her, but I don't think Harris has national appeal, especially in the Midwest, which as shown by Tuesday, Democrats need to win in order to be nationally competitive! Texas isn't anywhere close to purple, and even Georgia re-elected its Republican governor by almost the same margin as Texas. Arizona only stayed blue because of McCain Republicans and my rights are more important to me than my representation.

Hi Boss,
I turn to you as the most thoughtful lady around for something I'm... I guess struggling with.
So listening to the Podcast "A Little Bit Culty" and the hosts started talking about how "both sides" in (American) politics "feel a little bit culty" they cited the labels they'd been called for expressing that most softly in the past "Trumper, and what was it? LibTard?" and basically saying "us vs them" is culty and that demonizing other is and how you can agree with some stuff without being 100% on the same side (which I do agree with)
and of course as a dyed in the wool true believing Democratic Democrat, my knee jerk gut reaction was "NO" but I'm struggling somewhat to come up with an intellectual non-emotional response to that. Now maybe it's one of those things where people claim victory because you had an emotional response to being told you're the same as conspiracy theory, white nationalist, homophobic anti-science nut jobs.
I would also point out being called a "Trumper" isn't an insult as such, its saying "you're a support of a former American President" vs LibTard which is saying being a liberal makes you mentally subnormal.
idk what are your thoughts, are there "a little bit culty" elements on the left? are they influential? and how much of the right is... kinda a cult?
I think they're oversimplifying and conflating things, for the most part - that both-sidesism thing is so easy to pull out and point to.
That said...
One of the things that struck me from rewatching The Way Down was when one of the commentators/speakers/experts they had said/argued that a cult is "a group of people who have a common bond or belief which maybe is not mainstream" and then went on to say that what is usually discussed is a "destructive or abusive cult" where, "instead of the group existing to serve the needs of the followers, the followers exist to serve the need of the leader" because obviously that kind of distinction is not made (how cults are defined and whether it is inherently pejorative or negative is a huge debate and is a whole other thing tbh).
The examples that they provided are actually pretty horrible ones to justify their argument - "us vs them" has been around since time immemorial and is actually one of the most consistently mainstream things around. Political polarization is not (inherently) "culty", and the issue of demonizing your opponents is just as mainstream.
Being called a Trumper (or Trumpeter or MAGAhead or whatever) is not the same as being called a libtard for the reasons you point out - like the implication of mental deficiencies or issues with Trumper et. al is implied whereas with libtard that's just explicitly and directly insulting someone's mental capacity.
I think that a lot of the BernieBros or leftists are "a little bit culty", at this point, based on how they've been acting and responding ever since 2015. There's a rigidity and continued fixation on a particular person or particular set of specific legislation or other totemic acts as the key to personal and political salvation and anyone who doesn't believe or follow them the right way is suspect and not worthy of support/deserves castigation, but even they aren't on the same level as the right.
Because the fundamental difference between the culty or ideologically extreme elements of the right versus the left is that the former is actively and loudly arguing for the death of and general violence towards those they oppose or perceive to be in opposition to them, and, for the most part, the left isn't, and certainly not to the same extent or same capacity and capability. It's like saying the chihuahua and the caucasian ovcharka are equally aggressive and equally equipped to attack.

politics post so feel free to scroll by but I just gotta say:
don’t fall victim to the liberal urge to blame voters for this. don’t fall victim to the urge to think that the fault here lies with anyone but the establishment. don’t try and say this wouldn’t have happened if people hadn’t stayed home in 2016, or if it wasn’t for those damn bernie bros.
the fault for this lays at the feet of every democrat in the system. the ones who could have made a law dozens upon dozens of times and didn’t. the ones who said they want “a strong gop” and spent the last several months actively campaigning against a progressive left-leaning dem to push an anti-choice one in her place. hillary clinton’s running mate was anti-choice. they approved gorsuch and kavanaugh and amy coney barrett when this writing was on the wall. kavanaugh was KNOWN to be a pick off a list of prospective anti-choice/roe-overthrowing judges. the writing has not only been on the wall since the leak, it’s been on the wall for years. it’s been on the wall for decades, and they all failed to act.
please do vote this year, but don’t fall for the trap of the easy target of blaming berniebros or people who couldn’t vote in 2016 or whatever. many people could not vote because of voter suppression. the gop and the dems both want you to think this isn’t on their heads. blame this on the establishment. they have done nothing to protect us because how on earth could they fundraise if they made sure the threat they used to fundraise was gone?
the system is broken, and when the system is broken, pointing fingers at the other people suffering under it is not only counterproductive, it’s delusional and harmful.
stay safe and stay angry.

Bidenbros, like Berniebros were, are inexplicably antagonistic towards the people they say they're trying to persuade to vote for their candidate. The biggest difference is Berniebros weren't scolding people for not accepting ethnic cleansing.

Tired of
@MSNBC
@JoyAnnReid
trying to convince us the anti-Biden ppl are DEMOCRATIC voters!
THEY’RE NOT!
They’re the same Bro Fauxgressives who insisted they weren’t voting for Biden in 2020 & have been shouting that ever since, over SLs & anything else Biden does!
@thereidout
MSM has a problem: obsessing over extremists, ppl who hate mainstream Dems. They either elevate trump voters in the diner or BernieBro Fauxgressives in the purity bubble. And they continue to insist that socialists are the Dem base, which couldn’t be further from the truth!
Tired of them ignoring the real Dem base! We have Biden’s back & we vote.
Which is why they’re “surprised” on Election Day! No, Demos didn’t win in spite of Biden, like they would like us to believe, they won because of Biden & his policies!
And we have his back on the ME crisis!
