Queen's Mark AU
*this was supposed to be a T1 story so it's going in the week but good god this got out of control
Lore:
King’s Marks: semi-random birthmarks but does have a slightly higher chance to happen in familes that either have divine blood (ex: had a member marry a god or demigod). They represent legitimacy to the various clans. Due to the semi-random spread, having large, extended families is encouraged to increase the chance of having at least one King’s Mark to act at the family’s representative to the royal court
Queen’s Marks: the rarer of the two and highly sought after. Queen’s marks also represent legitimacy but also entail spiritual power. A King’s Mark may have low to no spiritual power but a Queen’s Mark never will. Any individual with a Queen’s Mark is highly sought after as a result as they have the potential to be a good fighter and liason with the divine. They are also often seen as beautiful and ethereal, the pinnacle of humanity.
Both marks may appear on men or women, it does not seem to care. They get their names due to their shape resembling the corresponding chess pieces.
Pairing a King and Queen’s mark together is prioritized due to the potential for them to combine their spirtual powers and refresh a line with new blood. Whether that’s through birthing children or beessching the gods for one to adopt doesn’t really matter in the eyes of the law or people.
T1 (Faker's domain)
-Gumayusi is the distant, distant descendent of Faker, the God of Civilization and current occupant of the Golden Throne and has a middling King's mark
-> his family earned the right to use the Lee last name through merit but they are far from Faker's branch
-when Faker ascended, Bengi followed him and Faker made him his divine consort
-Tom and Skyy regularly help out on Earth at Bengi's behest
-the 1st cohort all have king's marks of varying strength and they are competing for nobility spots
-Wolf is also a distant relative of Faker's and is the head of the Advisers
DRX (Deft's domain)
-Keria is an incredibly talented Queen's candidate with two Divine Blessings, one from Deft, the Patron god of the Wilds and Rascal, a fallen dragon king
-Chovy is the head of his clan and happily co-existing with Doran. His King's mark is unusually strong. Doran is not entirely aware of the arrangement
-Peanut is an unmarried Queen's mark who is Chovy's representative in Court
-Deft raised Keria and Chovy together at a young age and they're still close
-Lehends is the current leader of his branch house as a well-respected Queen's mark and is sought after by four princes with king's mark with varying degrees of enthusiasm and insanity
DK (Beryl's domain)
-originally were a band of heroes but got picked off as time passed
-> Nuguri was badly burned by an angry phoenix and had to go through a 'moulting' process to become a tanuki but he's happy with his new form
-> Ghost was killed in a fierce battle and came back as a giwsin, a kind of spirit
->Canna entered an evil wizard's trial and was cursed into a fox form. Beryl's blessing turned him into a divine fox who now has a regular visitation route between his shrine and Faker's
-Canyon is Chief Naval Officer and currently works for Chovy
-Showmaker is his lieutenant and fiancee
-> manages the zoo that is taking care of various spirits in their house
-Kellin is Deft's divine messenger pigeon and works overtime to send messages between the two
---
So anyways this is going to be at least 3 fics. One rom com for T1 with Guma working with a cool gun, Faker's bad advice and his own sense of romanticism to woo Keria against Deft's wishes. One slice of life comedy with Showmaker trying to keep this zoo of spirits in order. One drama filled Geng show down with one 10000% done Chovy. Eventually.

Hailing from a land only known as The Valley of Teeth, berserk warriors war against each other and fight with feral ferocity. They shun and shame projectile weaponry, opting for brutal grapples and punches.

The prison break has reached Phase 3. If you missed it Phase 1: Trim mold lines. Phase 2: Prime. Phase 3: Put too much orange paint on my pallet for the miniature I was working on so... why not use it?
I am starting to see the allure of why people paint identical armies. While I am personally not a fan of assimilation, I can definitely see why one would be. I felt like I made so much progress so very quickly! It was mentally rewarding to be able to get so much paint laid down in so little time. This however is not why I paint miniatures.
I paint miniatures because I feel like every mini should be unique. Like their human precursor form, zombies deserve to be individuals. Marry who they like, dress how they like, act how they like. Zombies are individuals too. So unique in their own ways. Rest assured, just because these zombies are all in prison together so they are required to wear the same uniform, they will not be identical despite that I intend to sell these as a boxed set once I finish them all. Each will have their own personality and flare albeit toned down by their similar wardrobe.
What I don’t understand about this strange boxed set is why seven designs are wearing prison uniforms and one of them... I just realized is probably a prison guard. This is why I blog! I learn new things as I write. Kinda of like how when you are painting your minis you find details you never would have noticed if they were left unpainted. Prison guards probably shouldn’t wear pink shirts. I’ll fix that later.
For the record though, prison guards should NOT wear neckties. That’s just dangerous. When I worked in a psychiatric wing, the necklace I wore had a magnetic clasp for my safety. Also was not sturdy enough to strangle me with. A neck-tie is just asking to be strangled. Now comes the question I must discern an answer to: Who turned first? Was it a guard or a prisoner?
