What's Happening in China? The November 2022 Protests
Hello! I know that there's so much going on in the world right now, so not everyone may be aware of what is happening in China right now. I thought that I would try to write a brief explainer, because the current wave of protests is truly unprecedented in the past 30+ years, and there is a lot of fear over what may happen next. For context, I'm doing this as someone who has a PhD in Asian Studies specialising in contemporary Chinese politics, so I don't know everything but I have researched China for many years.
I'll post some decent links at the end along with some China specialists & journalists I follow on Twitter (yeah I know, but it's still the place for the stuff at the moment). Here are the bullet points for those who just want a brief update:
Xi Jinping's government is still enacting a strict Zero Covid policy enforced by state surveillance and strict lockdowns.
On 24 November a fire in an apartment in Urumqi, Xinjiang province, killed 10. Many blamed strict quarantine policies on preventing evacuation.
Protests followed and have since spread nationwide.
Protesters are taking steps not seen since Tiananmen in 1989, including public chants for Xi and the CCP to step down.
Everyone is currently unsure how the government will respond.
More in-depth discussion and links under the cut:
First a caveat: this is my own analysis/explanation as a Chinese politics specialist. I will include links to read further from other experts and journalists. Also, this will be quite long, so sorry about that!
China's (aka Xi Jinping's) Covid Policy:
The first and most important context: Xi has committed to a strict Zero Covid policy in China, and has refused to change course. Now, other countries have had similar approaches and they undoubtedly saved lives - I was fortunate to live in New Zealand until this year, and Prime Minister Ardern's Zero Covid approach in 2020-2021 helped protect many. The difference is in the style/scope of enforcement, the use of vaccines, and the variant at play. China has stepped up its control on public life over the past 10 years, and has used this to enforce strict quarantine measures without full regard to the impact on people's lives - stories of people not getting food were common. Quarantine has also become a feared situation, as China moves people to facilities often little better than prisons and allegedly without much protection from catching Covid within. A personal friend in Zhengzhou went through national, then provincial, then local quarantines when moving back from NZ, and she has since done her best to avoid going back for her own mental and physical health. Xi has also committed China to its two home-grown vaccines, Sinovac and Sinopharm, both of which have low/dubious efficacy and are considered ineffective against new variants. Finally, with delta and then omicron most of the Zero-Covid countries have modified their approach due to the inability to maintain zero cases. China remains the only country still enacting whole-city eradication lockdowns, and they have become more frequent to the point that several are happening at any given time. The result is a population that is incredibly frustrated and losing hope amidst endless lockdowns and perceived ineffectiveness to address the pandemic.
Other Issues at Play:
Beyond the Covid situation, China is also wrestling with the continued slowdown in its economic growth. While its economic rise and annual GDP growth was nigh meteoric from the 80s to the 00s, it has been slowing over the past ten years, and the government is attempting to manage the transition away from an export-oriented economy to a more fully developed one. However, things are still uncertain, and Covid has taken its toll as it has elsewhere the past couple of years. Youth unemployment in particular is reaching new highs at around 20%, and Xi largely ignored this in his speech at the Party Congress in October (where he entered an unprecedented third term). As a result of the perceived uselessness of China's harsh work culture and its failure to result in a better life, many young Chinese have been promoting 躺平 tǎng píng or "lying flat", aka doing the bare minimum just to get by (similar to the English "quiet quitting"). The combination of economic issues and a botched Covid approach is important, as these directly affect the lives of ordinary middle-class Chinese, and historical it has only been when this occurred that mass movements really took off. The most famous, Tiananmen in 1989, followed China's opening up economic reforms and the dismantling of many economic safety nets allowing for growing inequality. While movements in China often grow to include other topics, having a foundation in something negatively impacting the average Han Chinese person's livelihood is important.
The Spark - 24 Nov 2022 Urumqi Apartment Fire:
The current protests were sparked by a recent fire that broke out in a flat in Urumqi, capital of the Xinjiang province. (This is the same Xinjiang that is home to the Uighur people, against whom China has enacted a campaign of genocide and cultural destruction.) The fire occurred in the evening and resulted in 10 deaths, which many online blamed on the strict lockdown measures imposed by officials, who prevented people from leaving their homes. It even resulted in a rare public apology by city officials. However, with anger being so high nationwide, in addition to many smaller protests that have occurred over the past two years, this incident has ignited a nationwide movement.
The Protests and Their Significance:
The protests that have broken out over the past couple of days representing the largest and most significant challenge to the leadership since the 1989 Tiananmen movement. Similar to that movement, these protests have occurred at universities and cities across the country, with many students taking part openly. This scale is almost unseen in China, particularly for an anti-government protest. Other than Tiananmen in 1989, the most widespread movements that have occurred have been incidents such as the protest of the 1999 Belgrade bombings or the 2005 and then 2012 anti-Japanese protests, all of which were about anger toward a foreign country.
Beyond the scale the protests are hugely significant in their message as well. Protesters are publicly shouting the phrases "习近平下台 Xí Jìnpíng xiàtái!" and "共产党 下台 Gòngchǎndǎng xiàtái!", which mean "Xi Jinping, step down/resign!" and "CCP, step down/resign!" respectively. To shout a direct slogan for the government to resign is unheard of in China, particularly as Xi has tightened control of civil society. And people are doing this across the country in the thousands, openly and in front of police. This is a major challenge for a leader and party who have prioritised regime stability as a core interest for the majority of their history.
Looking Ahead:
Right now, as of 15:00 Australian Eastern time on Monday, 28 November 2022, the protests are only in their first couple of days and we are unsure as to how the government will respond. Police have already been seen beating protesters and journalists and dragging them away in vehicles. However, in many cases the protests have largely been monitored by police but still permitted to occur. There seems to be uncertainty as to how they want to respond just yet, and as such no unified approach.
Many potential outcomes exist, and I would warn everyone to be careful in overplaying what can be achieved. Most experts I have read are not really expecting this to result in Xi's resignation or regime change - these things are possible, surely, but it is a major task to achieve and the unity & scale of the protest movement remains to be fully seen. The government may retaliate with a hard crackdown as it has done with Tiananmen and other protests throughout the years. It may also quietly revamp some policies without publicly admitting a change in order to both pacify protesters and save face. The CCP often uses mixed tactics, both coopting and suppressing protest movements over the years depending on the situation. Changing from Zero Covid may prove more challenging though, given how much Xi has staked his political reputation on enforcing it.
What is important for everyone online, especially those of us abroad, is to watch out for the misinformation campaign the government will launch to counter these protests. Already twitter is reportedly seeing hundreds of Chinese bot accounts mass post escort advertisements using various city names in order to drown out protest results in the site's search engine. Chinese officials will also likely invoke the standard narrative of Western influence and CIA tactics as the reason behind the protests, as they did during the Hong Kong protests.
Finally, there will be a new surge of misinformation and bad takes from tankies, or leftists who uncritically support authoritarian regimes so long as they are anti-US. An infamous one, the Qiao Collective, has already worked to shift the narrative away from the protests and onto debating the merits of Zero Covid. This is largely similar to pro-Putin leftists attempting the justify his invasion of Ukraine. Always remember that the same values that you use to criticise Western countries should be used to criticise authoritarian regimes as well - opposing US militarism and racism, for example, is not incompatible with opposing China's acts of genocide and state suppression. If you want further info (and some good sardonic humour) on the absurd takes and misinfo from pro-China tankies, I would recommend checking out Brian Hioe in the links below.
Finally, keep in mind that this is a grass-roots protest made by people in China, who are putting their own lives at risk to demonstrate openly like this. There have already been so many acts of bravery by those who just want a better future for themselves and their country, and it is belittling and disingenuous to wave away everything they are doing as being just a "Western front" or a few "fringe extremists".

May I request a Wriothesley version of the legend of the red string of fate please??
Yes of course!! Thank you so much for putting in your request and giving me the idea🫶
Soulmates huh? I like the sound of that..
Tumblr media
Wriothesley x fem!reader
Fluff, based on the Legend of the Red String of Fate, Will contain spoilers from the chenyu vale world quest!
I hope you all enjoy reading!
“Tea bags, check..gift, check, tea leaves- check! Okay I’m ready to head off.” You muttered to yourself, cross checking your luggage before you depart from Chenyu Vale to Fontaine for a very important meeting. With whom you might be wondering? Well, it was none other than the Duke of the Fortress of Meropide himself.
Chenyu vale is known widely for its famous and aromatic Adeptea, and has always exported copious amounts of tea to Fontaine. However for the past 2 years, the tea’s quality started to decline, and so did the exports. It had come to your attention that out of all the Fontainians, the Duke of Meropide was particularly displeased about this situation, going so far as to penning a kind yet stern letter to the head of the village, asking about what has been happening to their tea. It was safe to say that this letter had raised quite the panic, for the fortress was the major buyer of the Adeptea and losing such a buyer was something your small yet humble village could not afford. What’s worse was that none of the people were able to understand what was going wrong with the tea, except of course for you and Grandpa Lu.
You were a prominent figure in Chenyu vale, known for your artistic pottery and fine brewing skills. You would handpick the slots of tea that was being sent to Fontaine yourself, knowing that they needed the best quality tea. Not only that, but you were also skilled in the Adepti art of Adeptus Fujin herself, which made you understand that the harmony of nature had been disrupted, leading to the tea quality’s decline.
Thankfully for all of you; the renowned traveler had arrived with their companion and with your aid and Fujin’s power, the problem had been resolved. The only problem that now remained, was the displeased Duke of Meropide. So you took it upon yourself to travel to Fontaine and offer an explanation and apology, for no one else understood the true depth of the situation. As compensation, you made him the most beautiful tea set, infusing in it a little bit of your power which would allow the tea to remain fragrant and hot for extended hours. You truly did hope that this would placate the man.
After bidding farewell to your mother, you got onto the boat that would take you to the renowned and magnificent nation of justice. Fontaine truly seemed magnificent, with its technological advances and strict judicial system. You had always desired to visit the city, although not in such a diplomatic way. No matter, you would make sure to get a tour of the city later. Upon hearing of your visit, the duke had been kind enough to write to you personally, informing you of basic but important laws that you must not break if you didn’t wish to extend your stay in the fortress from a few hours to a few days. The letter was…extremely lengthy, given the amount of ridiculous and extensive laws the land held. Archons, how did the people even remember them all? Well no matter, it’s not like you were going to stay there for long….right?
As you arrived at the Lumidouce harbour, you noticed two officials waiting for you, probably to guide you to the fortress. You bowed at them politely, following their lead while admiring the beautiful scenery of Fontaine.
“Welcome to the Nation of Justice, Ms. Y/N. We have been tasked by Monsieur Neuvillette to guide you to the fortress of Meropide through the Opera Epiclese. Please, follow us.”
Thanking them you boarded yet another boat, and then an aquabus where you met a cute little creature. Ah, that must be the melusines that the duke had mentioned in his letter. The melusine was so sweet, giving you a detailed explanation about the city, even answering your curious question. In the end, you quickly rummaged through your bag, giving her a little Qingxin flower as a thank you for her service. The smile that adorned her little face truly made your day better.
Eventually you headed to the back of the grand Opera Epiclese, where you saw a dignified tall man with a black fur coat hanging on his shoulder standing with his back faced to you. His aura seemed intimidating to you, however you kept your composure. “Duke, we have brought your guest.”
“Ah, you have my profound gratitude. You both may leave, I shall escort my guest from here.”
“Yes sir.”
At that moment, he turned around to face you, and you felt your entire world stopping. Your jade green eyes met with his ashy blue ones, and you swore you felt a spark through your entire body. A beautiful and delicate Res String tied to your little finger made its way to tie itself around his thumb, making you freeze in place. You had found your fated Soulmate. He was a godly man, perfect from head to toe. You had never seen a man as handsome as him, his every feature truly was perfect. You didn’t fail to notice the scars on his face and neck, making you realise he truly had been through a lot in his lifetime.
Meanwhile, Wriothesley was utterly stunned, yet confused. In front of him stood perhaps the most beautiful maiden he had ever seen, her delicate figure adorned with a pastel green outfit and jade jewellery, matching the colour of her eyes. A dendro vision was tied to your outfit while your long hair flowed freely down your shoulders. He was in awe of your beauty, it was as if some kind of force was pulling him in to you. However he was baffled to see a delicate red string connect the two out of you, seemingly appearing out of nowhere. Your equally shocked look did not escape his watchful eyes. What in Teyvat was going on? He cleared his throat, talking rather softly. “Uhm, Miss Y/N, how about we..head back to my office to talk?”
You snapped out of your thoughts, nodding immediately as you felt your cheeks blushing like anything. “Yes, yes of course Duke..”
He let out a raspy chuckle, shaking his head. “No need to be so formal, you can just call me Wriothesley.” Oh archons, why was everything about him so attractive?! You looked down with a shy smile, nodding. “Understood. Please, lead the way..”
He smiles slightly, enjoying your flustered state for some reason. As much as he desired to ask you about this mysterious red string, he chose to wait. Such important and private discussions were better suited for his office, where he could guarantee no one would eavesdrop. He led you down the elevator and through the boat to the Fortress, noticing how observant you were about every little detail. Hm..that would explain the Dendro vision. “Welcome to the Fortress of Meropide. I’m sure you must have heard a thing or two about this place, but I can assure you it’s not as awful as it sounds. Here in the fortress every exile and every prisoner is given a chance to start life anew, to work hard and earn their freedom and dignity back. If I dare say so myself, the fortress is essentially a place of rediscovery and rebirth. The law treats everyone fairly, and the fortress is no different.”
You listened to him in awe, admiring the way he spoke like a dignified gentleman. Although he looked intimidating and cold, his demeanour was quite relaxed and welcoming. “That is quite admirable, to give a chance to the offenders to start life anew.” He nodded at your words as he led you to his office. “Of course, that is not to say that criminals do not get their punishment. No one leads a cushiony life in here, and those who have broken the law and hurt others get treated the same way. The rest who actually wish to turn over to a new leaf are given the chance to do so. Many prisoners choose to stay here even after their sentence has concluded.”
That surely came as a shock to you. As…magnificent as the fortress was, it was devoid of sunlight and nature, it felt suffocating to you. Why would people live here willingly? Noticing your silence and the unasked question in the air, Wriothesley laughed a little. “I’m sure you must be wondering why they would choose to do that. Well Fontaine is a nation much different than the rest. Here, status, reputation and wealth matter a lot. Life up at the surface is full of pretensions and dramatic situations. Here in the fortress; everyone is equal, everyone is straightforward. They start with nothing, and through sheer hard work, earn their daily necessities. Perhaps that equality is what attracts people to stay here rather than going up to the surface and continue to play the part in the endless opera that Fontaine is.”
Only you knew how much you were admiring him at this point. Not only was he fair and just, he was also respectable and empathetic, treating humans as they were supposed to be treated rather than declaring them as unruly criminals. “I really admire the way you manage this place Wriothesley..to be able to view offenders as something more than their offence is an admirable quality. No wonder you are the Duke.” As much as he wished he could deny it, Wriothesley felt his heart skip a beat at your words. “You flatter me Y/N. here, this is my office. Let us go upstairs. Please, make yourself comfortable.”
“Thank you. Ah before I forget, I brought you a small present to compensate for all the inconveniences you have had to face due to the small crisis in Chenyu vale.” Taking out a box, you opened it to reveal the most beautifully embroidered tea set that Wriothesley had ever seen. “This is a tea set I crafted myself, and I have infused it with a little bit of adeptal power. That will allow the tea to stay fragrant and warm for hours on end. I imagine that your work must be arduous and time consuming. So, you need not brew a hot cup of tea every now and then. I hope it is to your liking..”
Looking up, you felt your heart flutter at the way Wriothesley was smiling, his eyes shimmering as he admired the tea set. “This is simply divine, I cannot thank you enough for your hard work. There was no need for a present Y/N..but thank you so much, I will gratefully accept it.” Smiling happily, you stood up, getting the tea leaves out. “Well if you’ll allow me; I can brew us some tea right now. I do believe we have a lot of things to discuss Wriothesley..” He smiled and nodded, accompanying you as he watched you brew the tea. The aroma of fresh tea filled his office, instantly relaxing him. A while later you both sat down, drinking tea. “This is exquisite tea, you are exceptional at brewing.” You blushed at the praise, shaking your head. “Thank you..well then, I believe it is time I addressed something very important..” You raised your left hand, bringing to his notice the red string that connected the two of you. “Yes please go ahead, I am quite curious about this string.”
You took a deep breath to prepare yourself for the worst possible outcome after you explained everything to him. “This is the red string of fate..Inazuma and Liyue have a..tradition where the gods have destined two people together as…Soulmates. The red string appears when two soulmates lock eyes with one another, and it signifies the union of two fated lovers…The red string may stretch endlessly, but it can never be snapped or broken. Of course…some people can…reject this bond, but that won’t erase the existence of this string..”
Wriothesley listened to your words carefully, also noticing the way you held your teacup close, caressing the edges anxiously. You weren’t looking into his eyes, and he knew that you were afraid that he would reject this bond. Truth to be told, as strange as this entire situation was, he felt so comfortable in your presence, so soothed and happy that it felt like home. He knew he was attracted to you, and wanted to be with you. Whether it was the string acting or his heart, he did not know and nor did he care. He gently held your hand in his, making your jade green eyes look at him with an expression so hopeful that it melted his ice cold heart.
“I do not wish to reject this bond. Even though I’ve only met you today; your presence has..comforted me. The fortress has always been cold and stuffy but your presence here feels like a breath of fresh air…I know that I feel connected to you. And if the gods themselves have fated us to be together then who am I to overrule their judgement?”
You smiled ever so happily, not being able to hold back as you hugged him, resting your head against his chest. Meanwhile wriothesley, though tense at first, melted into your embrace, wrapping his arms around you gently. His bigger frame completely engulfed you, as if hiding and protecting you from all evil. He was your home, you knew it. “If you are not rejecting this bold, then I pledge you my devotion and loyalty until my last breath. From now on, I am your soulmate..” you spoke, looking up into his beautiful eyes. He chuckled at your words. Gently cradling your face, smiling at the way you leaned into his touch. He knew you both would have to work a few things out, but everything would turn out to be just fine. He then held your left hand, tenderly kissing the place where the red string was tied.
“Soulmates huh? I like the sound of that. Then from this day forth, I am yours, just like you are mine.”

hi there, seen requests were open! i love your gecko series, and i was wondering if i could request a ghost x gecko!reader were they have to get dressed up for a mission and they can't stop looking at each other?

“You won’t be getting anything if you keep this up.”
Tumblr media
Undercover jobs aren’t exactly Ghost’s favorite.
There’s something so unsettling about hiding in plain sight with the understanding that one slip up could cause fatal havoc on himself and the rest of his team. Of course he knows that any and every mission is dangerous for various reasons. But, in his opinion, undercover jobs are just a little too dangerous. Despite this, he understands why they’re necessary and the benefits that they provide.
Going undercover is a solid strategy when it comes to scoping out a target without causing a shower of gunfire and a parade of chaos. A calm and collected demeanor is always the best way to ensure the success of an undercover mission.
For this mission in particular, going undercover was practically the only option.
The subject in question was one bad dude, for lack of a better term. He was the leader of a Russian terrorist group producing and exporting chemical weapons for what you knew to be with not-so-good intentions. There was no telling what devious plans he had in store for the missiles, so the team was on it.
Force 141 was now in the middle of nowhere, preparing to conduct an undercover mission to stalk and track the Russian terrorist leader to find just exactly what his plans were.
Surprisingly, the team acquired information that led them to a rather…odd location.
It wasn’t totally uncommon for an undercover mission to take place in an otherwise public location. Those kinds of places were ideal for finding a target, and the hustle of it all was a great way to go unnoticed.
However, a bar in the middle of nowhere in remote Russia was not where you were expecting to end up.
The Russian leader was known to visit the establishment every week on the same day and around the same time. It was guaranteed that he would be there, and that was the golden window of opportunity.
An undercover ploy was put into effect. Two of the team members would go into the establishment as nothing more than first-time visitors. Staying under the radar while listening for intel and watching for the Russian boss was critical.
The mission was fairly simple: find the target, get the information, and don’t get caught.
It was decided that you and Ghost were best for this job. The infamous Gecko and Ghost duo was unbreakable. The two of you worked well together and fit one another perfectly. Playing off one another would be important, and no one was better for the job than you two.
It wasn’t like it would be hard to pose as a couple while working undercover. After all, that wasn’t exactly a lie.
You and Ghost spent a couple of days preparing for this undercover mission, mentally prepping yourselves and deciding what you would need to blend in. There was usually a decent amount of prep work when it came to these sorts of things, and this was no exception.
Not only did you have to act the part, but you had to dress for it too.
“Hey, Ghost?” You called from the closet that you were currently inside of.
The team was holed up in a small house (if you could even call it that) for the duration of this mission. It was a simple structure, a little cramped for all of 141 to fit inside of. It was mainly empty with a few pieces of beaten furniture strewn about. There was one empty room that you could only assume was supposed to be the bedroom, which is the space that you and Ghost were utilizing to get ready.
“Yeah?” The gravelly voice replied from the other side, where he was also getting changed.
“Don’t you think this attire is a bit…formal?” You questioned as you stepped into the black number that Laswell had presented to you.
Ghost chuckled at that. When it came to these kinds of missions, he didn’t ask too many questions.
“I don’t know, doll. This is just what they gave us.” He buttoned the column of buttons on his shirt.
“Hmm,” You hummed thoughtfully. “Are you going to lose the mask tonight?”
“Very funny,” He said flatly. “Not a chance, Gecko.”
“Don’t you think that will compromise us?” You grinned, although he couldn’t see you from the outside of the closet.
He could hear the smirk in your tone, which brought an amused smile to spread from underneath the black fabric of his balaclava.
“If it does, then you and Johnny can hassle me about it,” He buckled his belt onto his slacks. “Are you almost ready?”
With a few final adjustments, you stepped out from the closet with a small smile, revealing the outfit that was much more outstanding than your usual kind of clothing. It was a simple, short dress that showed off the shape of your frame that usually buried underneath layers of gear and tactical clothing.
His eyes nearly popped out of his head. His dark eyes peering from the opening of his mask were wide and glittering with desire. Certainly Ghost had seen it all before, but it was just so…different in this kind of situation.
It wasn’t often that Ghost was able to ogle over you like this while on a job, and it was something that he was going to take advantage of.
For a moment, Ghost was sure that Laswell was playing a painfully beautiful trick on him. She put you in that dress and expected him to be able to maintain his composure on a critical mission?
This was torture.
His eyes were wandering, and he didn’t even try to hide it. His mind was racing. This kind of racing that had him dreaming up a dozen different scenarios with each one ending up with you gripping the sheets and whimpering his name with pure ecstasy.
“Oh baby…” He purred. “I don’t know if I can do this.”
Ghost himself was cleaned up nicely. A black button down shirt and slacks that also showed off assets of his body that were usually hidden away. It brought a tingle to your face and a certain heat to your legs. It wasn’t often that you were blessed with the sight of Ghost being dressed up and stylish.
“Why not?” You asked him, although you knew exactly what he meant because you were having the exact same kind of sinful thoughts.
“I don’t think I’ll be able to complete this job when you look so…gorgeous.”
His hand reached for yours, the chill of his skin feeling vastly different from your warmth. He had “I want you” written all over his face…well, the part of his face that you could actually see. His free arm came to wrap around your waist, bringing you into the front of his frame.
“We…we have a job to do, Ghosty.” You breathed slowly to keep yourself calm and cool.
“Oh, I know, baby.” He rumbled.
He raised the bottom of his balaclava, and kissed you quickly, but it was a kiss that said more than words ever could.
“Promise me that when we’re finished…you’re all mine for the rest of the night.” He demanded.
A rush of fire flushed through your core and shot out at your feet. This was going to be one hell of a job to complete.
“That can be arranged.”
***
The bar was much smaller than you were expecting…and even then, you were expecting a small pub.
It was a cabin really. The wooden floors creaked when you walked on the boards, and the walls groaned with every bitter cold wind gust blowing from the outside.
The air smelled of booze and stale cigarettes, a scent that you would definitely be carrying on your clothes when this was over.
Incandescent light bulbs were hanging from the ceiling, offering a source of illumination that was nearly burned out in certain places.
The establishment could hold maybe 30 people. It was cramped for sure, and you were just glad that it wasn’t a totally full house on that particular night. Still, even then the bar was a tight fit.
You and Ghost were successfully able to slip in mainly undetected. It was pretty obvious that the two of you weren’t regular visitors, so staying on the down low was critical. The less suspicion, the better.
“Stay close to me,” Ghost murmured in your ear, keeping a hand on your lower back to guide you through the crowd. “I don’t want to lose sight of you.”
Ghost towered over many of the guests in the bar. He was a giant, so keeping his head low was difficult. There were a couple of odd stares. A strange masked man and a strange (yet dashing) woman hand-in-hand was bound to draw some attention.
Nonetheless, no one was yelling Russian obscenities or shooting, so you were still in the clear.
There was an empty table at the back of the bar, tucked away in the corner that was much dimmer than the rest of the room. It was a decent place to lay low, but it still gave you a good view of the entire bar.
The chatter from the Russian bar-goers was loud enough to where you and Ghost could talk comfortably, as long as you were keeping an eye on who was watching.
“Keep it casual, you two. No mistakes.” Price’s voice sounded in your ear, once you were comfortably seated.
Price and the rest of the team were in a secure location, listening and monitoring the perimeter of the outside to give you eyes to the areas you couldn’t see from the inside.
“Copy.” You replied.
“Anything yet, Captain?” Ghost asked, being sure to take the seat at the table that faced the door.
“Not yet. Have some patience, Lieutenant.” Price replied.
Ghost let out a quiet huff, a sign that he was antsy and ready to get this finished. Ghost’s dislike for undercover work was showing. He wasn’t still and stoic like usual. He was fidgety and looked like he wanted to combust.
“Well…at least we’re not overdressed.” You laughed, noting the fact that, despite its simplicity, the bar seemed to have a dress code.
“Laswell knew what she was doing.” Ghost reassured you.
“She always does,” You smiled. “Do you think it would be indecent to get a drink?”
Ghost’s brows furrowed in an amused expression, the silhouette of his grin appearing from behind his mask. If you were going to play the part, then he supposed it only made sense to really commit to it.
“You don’t speak Russian.” He remarked.
“No, but I can manage. Besides, they have the good stuff here. I can’t pass that up.” You grinned.
Ghost eyeballed the distance from the bar area to the table. He wanted to be sure that he could see you at all times because the last thing he wanted was for you to get cornered by some creep.
“Go for it,” Ghost nodded. “Make it two.”
“Make it two…?”
Ghost rolled his eyes, knowing that Soap was having a field day listening to this exchange.
“Please.” Ghost corrected, forcing his smile to stay shielded by the mask.
“That’s better,” You snickered. “Be right back.”
Ghost kept an eye on you as you walked away, watching like a hawk for anyone who even remotely looked at you funny. He also was getting a fine view of your outfit from behind, which sent a shudder down his spine that fizzled into his toes. He shifted in his seat as he watched, his hips readjusting as he tried to push his lustful thoughts away. He needed to hold it together just until the end of the night. He couldn’t blow his cover over this. He’d never hear the end of it.
He witnessed you interact with the Russian barkeep, who somehow seemed to know exactly what you wanted despite the fact that Ghost was sure that your Russian speaking-skills were less than present. His eyes squinted when he followed your frame back to your table, your smile growing brighter as you delivered the two drinks.
“I’m impressed. How did that work out?” Ghost asked, curious to know how you had successfully pulled off this encounter.
“Do you know how much alcohol the Russians drink? Like 75% of the world’s vodka is consumed here,” You remarked, sliding one of the glasses to your lover. “Whiskey for you. Vodka for me.”
“Thanks, G.” Ghost took the glass into his hand.
The glass seemed miniature in his large hand, but he held it so carefully and gently. Ghost peered down into the amber liquid, rotating the glass to watch the drink follow gravity. He took a slow first sip from under his mask, one that would get into his system as quickly as possible. He hoped that it would settle his nerves and keep himself grounded.
“How are you holding up?” You asked, which brought Ghost back from his busy mind.
“I’m alright,” He answered. “Why do you ask?”
“You look like you’re about to dissolve into your chair.” You remarked.
“I don’t like to wait.” He muttered, his foot brushing against yours as a suggestive motion.
Your eyes darted right, taking note of who was around in case this conversation took a turn. Not that anyone there was listening or spoke much English — but it was still an immediate reaction. Your conversing back and forth dwindled down when he began to look you over, a tell-tale sign that he was thinking hard about something.
He admired the way your skin glowed in the dim light of the bar, and he wanted nothing more than to whisk you away to a private room and kiss every inch of it. It had been a few weeks since he had really had some private time with you. It was hard to get away when you were on a mission.
He couldn’t wait for when this was all over.
The conversation had dwindled off and gone stale. A new focus had infiltrated your attention spans, and it was hard to tear away from.
Your eyes followed his hands and up his forearms, studying the way that his biceps were so perfectly outlined in the shirt he was wearing. Apparently, he wasn’t the only one having a hard time keeping the sinful thoughts pushed away. The room that was so crowded before suddenly felt empty, as if there was no way that anyone in the room could see that you and Ghost were eye-fucking each other.
“What’s your status, Lieutenant? You’ve gone quiet on me.” Price spoke, causing both of you to give a slight jump.
Ghost’s eyes never left you, the tone in his words causing you to have your turn with readjusting in your seat.
“All good, Captain. Just keeping an eye out.”
“Copy. Nothing out here yet.” Price replied, completely unaware of what was happening.
Suddenly, one of Ghost’s legs wrapped around yours, his strong calf intertwining with yours and forcing you to lean over the table towards him. A heat rushed into your face, a hot blush burning under your cheeks that seemed to spread down your chest.
“Ghost,” You warned, keeping your voice only loud enough for him to hear. “Focus.”
“I am focused, Gecko. I’m very focused.” He leaned closer to you, his elbows resting on the tabletop.
“I promised that you can have me after. Don’t do this now.” You pleaded.
“Oh, but you look so good now, darling.” His knee worked its way under your skirt, nudging the area between your legs.
It wasn’t a large table by any means, and his tall legs were doing nothing but playing in his favor. His eyebrows were furrowed in mischief. He knew good and well what he was doing.
“You’re making this harder than it needs to be.” You grumbled.
“But it is a little fun…isn’t it, baby?” He cooed, his eyes narrowing the way they did when he knew that he had you pinned.
This was Ghost’s way of taking advantage of an entertaining opportunity. It was fun for you to watch him squirm, but it was even better when he got to see you do it. He knew if he kept this up, then you’d be desperate to get out of here.
It didn’t change the fact that you were stuck here until the job was done. No amount of sexual tension and loving desire in the world would make either of you bail (because, frankly, that wasn’t even an option). But it was still a blast to see just how much the other person could take.
Ghost maneuvered his knee further underneath your dress which caused you to jump and make a quiet squeak when the top of his kneecap made contact with the outside fabric of your now damp panties.
“Simon, stop it.” You hissed.
One of your hands was wrapped around the glass of your drink, and if you squeezed any harder, it was going to shatter right there in your hand.
“That’s Ghost to you, Gecko.” He rumbled, his knee beginning to make gentle, yet calculated motions.
“You won’t be getting anything if you keep this up.” You tried your best to put on your “bad cop” persona, but it was a very thin facade.
“But you promised me. A promise is a promise, is it not?” He bantered back, satisfaction running rampant through his eyes.
It seemed that glaring at him from across the table didn’t have the effect that you had been trying for. If anything, it was only egging him on. Instinctively, your hips rotated forward against his leg, a quick rush of pleasure coursing through you until he snatched it back.
“Easy, Gecko. That’s a little indecent, don’t you think?” He tutted.
“I’ll show you something indecent.” You growled back.
“Oh, I know you will.” He smirked.
Just when you were completely about to lose it, Price’s voice sounded in your ear.
“Gecko. Ghost. The target just made entry,” Price suddenly spoke, his thick accent distracting you from the conversation at hand. “He’s got two escorts with him. Big and burly bastards.”
Ghost went into lieutenant mode (thankfully) and snapped his head in the direction towards the door. It gave you a few seconds to collect yourself and prepare to work towards getting this job finished. Sure enough, there was an older man, who seemed to fit the Russian leader image. There were two men standing behind him (more like over him) that were towering and buff. That was definitely your guy.
“Wait for him to get settled, then get closer to him,” Price instructed. “Get the intel and get out unnoticed…if you can.”
“10/4.” You answered.
“Copy.” Ghost echoed.
The Russian target circled the bar scoping out a place that was fitting for himself and his posse. He passed by you and Ghost once or twice, not seeming to mark either of you as an immediate threat. You and Ghost made sure to keep up the “civilian couple” role for the duration of this interaction. Your eyes never left his, although it was for a very different reason. Ghost was going to pay big time for this one. Getting you all hot and bothered on a mission was definitely not something that you would be letting slide by.
“Pick this up later?” Ghost asked, not even hiding the grin underneath his balaclava.
You would get him back one day, but for now, you just wanted to make it to your promised end goal of the evening.
“You’re on."

Hi, can you make a tutorial on how to fix beds? Thank you <3
It's pretty simple. here is a breakdown:
Download new version of S4S (better safe then sorry)
Open the cheat console within S4S by pressing crtl_shift+C
In the popup, type "object-preview" (best to full screen this popup, as we need all the space to see warehouse tab)
search for bed
Click on a double bed and wait for it to load in
Go to Warehouse tab and find the Rig and Slot resources (usually one after the other).
Click on the rig resource (it will be highlighted blue), and on the far right bottom click the "export" button.
Save the file somewhere easy to find and with a good name (like bedding-double-rig)
Click on the Slot resource next and repeat as above.
If you have single bedding as well, find one in the far left panel and load in. Repeat exporting the rig and slot information (making sure to label single and double bed resources clearly when exporting so you don't mix them up).
Close the object-preview window
Open a copy of your broken bedding. Best to do on a copy, because if you mess you can just delete and make another copy.
Go to warehouse tab and click on the rig resource.
On the bottom right, click Import and navigate to where you saved your exported resources. Make sure you are importing the rig resource and not slot resource, otherwise it will throw and error.
Import the double bed rig.
Click on the Slot resource and import the new slot resource.
Save
Test in game, when placing it shouldn't disappear, and you should have option for pillow fight. And of course, no exemption error should be thrown.
Hope that helps :)

This is a very long excerpt, but it has a) the frozen ink scene (Havelock, my love, why do you opt for brisk temperatures in your office?), b) the "transparent motives" bit AND c) Vetinari's musings on the importance of accepting progress. The bolded passages are those that I find funny or poignant.
Lord Vetinari, the Patrician of Ankh-Morpork, poked at the ink in his inkwell. There was ice in it.
‘Don’t you even have a proper fire?’ said Hughnon Ridcully, Chief Priest of Blind Io and unofficial spokesman for the city’s religious establishment. ‘I mean, I’m not one for stuffy rooms, but it’s freezing in here!’
‘Brisk, certainly,’ said Lord Vetinari. ‘It’s odd, but the ice isn’t as dark as the rest of the ink. What causes that, do you think?’
‘Science, probably,’ said Hughnon vaguely. Like his wizardly brother, Archchancellor Mustrum, he didn’t like to bother himself with patently silly questions. Both gods and magic required solid, sensible men, and the brothers Ridcully were solid as rocks. And, in some respects, as sensible.
‘Ah. Anyway … you were saying?’
‘You must put a stop to this, Havelock. You know the … understanding.’
Vetinari seemed engrossed in the ink. ‘Must, your reverence?’ he said calmly, without looking up.
‘You know why we’re all against this movable type nonsense!’
‘Remind me again … Look, it bobs up and down…’ Hughnon sighed. ‘Words are too important to be left to machinery. We’ve got nothing against engraving, you know that. We’ve nothing against words being nailed down properly. But words that can be taken apart and used to make other words … well, that’s downright dangerous. And I thought you weren’t in favour, either?’
‘Broadly, yes,’ said the Patrician. ‘But many years of ruling this city, your reverence, have taught me that you cannot apply brakes to a volcano. Sometimes it is best to let these things run their course. They generally die down again after a while.’
‘You have not always taken such a relaxed approach, Havelock,’ said Hughnon.
The Patrician gave him a cool stare that went on for a couple of seconds beyond the comfort barrier. ‘Flexibility and understanding have always been my watchwords,’ he said.
‘My god, have they?’
‘Indeed. And what I would like you and your brother to understand now, your reverence, in a flexible way, is that this enterprise is being undertaken by dwarfs. And do you know where the largest dwarf city is, your reverence?’
‘What? Oh … let’s see … there’s that place in—’
‘Yes, everyone starts by saying that. But it’s Ankh-Morpork, in fact. There are more than fifty thousand dwarfs here now.’
‘Surely not?’
‘I assure you. We have currently very good relationships with the dwarf communities in Copperhead and Uberwald. In dealings with the dwarfs I have seen to it that the city’s hand of friendship is permanently outstretched in a slightly downward direction. And in this current cold snap I am sure we are all very glad that bargeloads of coal and lamp oil are coming down from the dwarf mines every day. Do you catch my meaning?’
Hughnon glanced at the fireplace. Against all probability, one lump of coal was smouldering all by itself.
‘And of course,’ the Patrician went on, ‘it is increasingly hard to ignore this new type, aha, of printing when vast printeries now exist in the Agatean Empire and, as I am sure you are aware, in Omnia. And from Omnia, as you no doubt know, the Omnians export huge amounts of their holy Book of Om and these pamphlets they’re so keen on.’
‘Evangelical nonsense,’ said Hughnon. ‘You should have banned them long ago.’
Once again the stare went on a good deal too long.
‘Ban a religion, your reverence?’
‘Well, when I say ban, I mean—’
‘I’m sure no one could call me a despot, your reverence,’ said Lord Vetinari severely.
Hughnon Ridcully made a misjudged attempt to lighten the mood. ‘Not twice at any rate, ahaha.’
‘I’m sorry?’
‘I said … not twice at any rate … ahaha.’
‘I do apologize, but you seem to have lost me there.’
‘It was, uh, a minor witticism, Hav— my lord.’
‘Oh. Yes. Ahah,’ said Vetinari, and the words withered in the air. ‘No, I’m afraid you will find that the Omnians are quite free to distribute their good news about Om. But take heart! Surely you have some good news about Io?’
‘What? Oh. Yes, of course. He had a bit of a cold last month, but he’s up and about again.’
‘Capital. That is good news. No doubt these printers will happily spread the word on your behalf. I’m sure they will work to your exacting requirements.’
‘And these are your reasons, my lord?’
‘Do you think I have others?’ said Lord Vetinari. ‘My motives, as ever, are entirely transparent.’
Hughnon reflected that ‘entirely transparent’ meant either that you could see right through them or that you couldn’t see them at all.
Lord Vetinari shuffled through a file of paper. ‘However, the Guild of Engravers has put its rates up three times in the past year.’
‘Ah. I see,’ said Hughnon.
‘A civilization runs on words, your reverence. Civilization is words. Which, on the whole, should not be too expensive. The world turns, your reverence, and we must spin with it.’ He smiled. ‘Once upon a time nations fought like great grunting beasts in a swamp. Ankh-Morpork ruled a large part of that swamp because it had the best claws. But today gold has taken the place of steel and, my goodness, the Ankh-Morpork dollar seems to be the currency of choice. Tomorrow … perhaps the weaponry will be just words. The most words, the quickest words, the last words. Look out of the window. Tell me what you see.’
‘Fog,’ said the Chief Priest.
Vetinari sighed. Sometimes the weather had no sense of narrative convenience. ‘If it was a fine day,’ he said sharply, ‘you would see the big semaphore tower on the other side of the river. Words flying back and forth from every corner of the continent. Not long ago it would take me the better part of a month to exchange letters with our ambassador in Genua. Now I can have a reply tomorrow. Certain things become easier, but this makes them harder in other ways. We have to change the way we think. We have to move with the times. Have you heard of c-commerce?’
‘Certainly. The merchant ships are always—’
‘I mean that you may now send a clacks all the way to Genua to order a … a pint of prawns, if you like. Is that not a notable thing?’
‘They would be pretty high when they got here, my lord!’
‘Certainly. That was just an example. But now think of a prawn as merely an assemblage of information!’ said Lord Vetinari, his eyes sparkling.
‘Are you suggesting that prawns could travel by semaphore?’ said the Chief Priest. ‘I suppose that you might be able to flick them from—’
‘I was endeavouring to point out the fact that information is also bought and sold,’ said Lord Vetinari. ‘And also that what was once considered impossible is now quite easily achieved. Kings and lords come and go and leave nothing but statues in a desert, while a couple of young men tinkering in a workshop change the way the world works.’
He walked over to a table on which was spread out a map of the world. It was a workman’s map; this is to say, it was a map used by someone who needed to refer to it a lot. It was covered with notes and markers.
‘We’ve always looked beyond the walls for the invaders,’ he said. ‘We always thought change came from outside, usually on the point of a sword. And then we look around and find that it comes from the inside of the head of someone you wouldn’t notice in the street. In certain circumstances it may be convenient to remove the head, but there seem to be such a lot of them these days.’ He gestured towards the busy map. ‘A thousand years ago we thought the world was a bowl,’ he said. ‘Five hundred years ago we knew it was a globe. Today we know it is flat and round and carried through space on the back of a turtle.’ He turned and gave the High Priest another smile. ‘Don’t you wonder what shape it will turn out to be tomorrow?’
But a family trait of all the Ridcullys was not to let go of a thread until you’ve unravelled the whole garment.
‘Besides, they have these little pincer things, you know, and would probably hang on like—’
‘What do?’
‘Prawns. They’d hang on to—’
‘You are taking me rather too literally, your reverence,’ said Vetinari sharply.
‘Oh.’
‘I was merely endeavouring to indicate that if we do not grab events by the collar they will have us by the throat.’
‘It’ll end in trouble, my lord,’ said Ridcully. He’d found it a good general comment in practically any debate. Besides, it was so often true.
Lord Vetinari sighed. ‘In my experience, practically everything does,’ he said. ‘That is the nature of things. All we can do is sing as we go.’

The backing track for the main screen of the Ever Crisis holiday event is just LOVELY so I did a screen recording, trimmed it up and exported just the sound in MP3 form.
It's not flawless, of course, I'm no sound engineer—there were two glitches in the sound where it hitched for about a millisecond, I don't know if they're part of the original audio or if they were caused by the recording app or importing the audio or what, and I did my best to remove them but there is still the faintest and shortest hint of their presence—but this is just such a nice track I didn't want it to be lost forever when the event ends.

*mario voice* itsa’ me, theo! i present to you a concoction of rambles dedicated to house yoon’s youngest successor, yoon ryeol. feel free to like annnnd i’ll come running your way to plot!
Tumblr media
overview
yoon ryeol: youngest appointed to the vassal house, yoon. son of skillful artisans and antiquarians before his time. he is the last known nephew of the avatar, yuha.
a competent firebender. at least, to his knowledge. neither a prodigy or an inadequate wielder of his craft. at best, a proficient skill master. is currently pre-occupied with other habitual doings, as reaching near expertise-level isn’t of interest…. yet. 🤔 (?)
politics! known to be unbearably outspoken about his political alliance with house ozaki. never a blind follower of tepid leaders, of course not, but one must criticize its government against all that is unjust! house yi is dictated by an underdeveloped, young and cruel empire unfit for rule (to Him). thus, ryeol resents his aunt for assisting in yi sado’s succession.
remains indifferent (although positively-leaning) about his family’s business exporting/importing art and religious valuables. displays a lacking interest in pursuing related careers. instead, has taken an adventurous and theory-seeking journey with physics, which, came to be as a result of being a firebender.
(assumed) public image: the fool, the nut case, the outlier, the idiot, haphazard mad scientist and physicist in training. ryeol’s outwardly dedication to the fire nation’s past sociopolitical affairs is none other than dismissed as “stay-out-of-grown-folks-business, kid!”. he’s got a backbone and a voice so it’s up to him to use it, with his proximity to higher society for the disadvantaged!
background tw / fatshaming, emotional neglect
when lady yoon was informed that she had a bun in the oven, it was likely that confusion washed over her. like. whatdoyoumeani’mpregnantwithmyfourthkid. hence, ryeol being a mistake baby — neither planned or wanted. he was just there, slowly clawing into existence and, so, that was how he was born. no celebrations, no tears of joy — just, y’know, great. another yoon baby, i guess. a boy at that, too. now what? ohrightwe’retheyoonswealwayshaveresourcesforchildrearing. nowimagineifweweredestitute, oops! haha!
anywho! ryeol was a robust and a chunky kid. it threw both of his parents off, having been a chubby infant, toddler, and child well into his adolescence. you can call the excessive baby fat cute, or you can call him a tub of lard; either way, the kid has a thyroid problem (the culprit of being overweight all throughout childhood) which sends him in and out of healers all throughout his life. however, this hasn’t stopped him from frolicking and running around yuha island untiiiiiiil he gets shipped off to the royal fire nation academy.
during his time at the academy he hones both military-based combat and later, firebending. moreover, ryeol’s firebending manifested much later in life (mid to late teens, i think?) which lead to his family putting him somewhat.. on the back burner. and, well, being an annoyance (or chronically misunderstood? more about that below) for a child growing up in the court as well, but, that’s a whole other ordeal. lord and lady yoon have greater and more adept children to pay attention to, and it sure as hell isn’t yoon ryeol. at some point, he’s left to raise himself. he feels pathetic, the situation’s pathetic; you’re allowed to feel sorry for him. even if he knew from the start, his existence is a foil.
so, he did just enough to keep his performance afloat, was far from an ambitious overachiever, but never stooped so low to be behind his peers. training lead to a gradual weight loss for his thyroid health as advised by the healers, not for visual aesthetics. one’s appearance is a form of social capital/currency even in the era of yuha, so it’s very unfortunate that ryeol in his adulthood is receptive of sudden benefits because he looks a certain way (still has a whopping of low self-esteem insecurities tho). the benefits were there to begin with as a young lord to the house yoon, but… you know where i’m getting at.
by the time culmination season comes around, the newly gifted firebender no longer wanted to pursue the military. continuing the family business in art/historical/religious valuable as trade wasn’t his vibe either. rather.. the hypothesized and the unknown intrigues him! researching and dwelling into natural sciences concerning matter! energy and forces! motions and theoretical physics has never appealed to him more than ever — all thanks to his own subatomic findings — referring to firebending (wip: about how the hell that came to be btw)!!
hence! the young lord’s time dwelling from island to island, port to port, and city to city upon his personal journey for discoveries. ryeol wouldn’t have been a nomad if it weren’t for his observations, i can assure you. that is, after pursuing secondary education by studying (umbrella termed) natural sciences. then, narrowing down his education onto a focus of physics. however, ryeol’s academic wanderings are so far off, he’s even contemplating the universe and its laws (is the sun the center of the universe in year 62? beat u to it, galileo galilei!) — that he doesn’t know if or how he wants to narrow his analyzations… will he, or will he not? that is the question!
attributes, characteristics, philosophies
yoon ryeol can’t focus on a single task for too long. he buffers responses in his head when having formal, back-to-back conversations. his mannerisms is almost as though he’s replicating what it’s like to be human for the first time. social cues? he misses them. hyperboles? he takes them word for word — literally. he has organizational troubles, despises certain textures, and does not hate routine. yoon ryeol is on the spectrum (linked to his thyroid disease), but neurodivergent/autistic intricacies has not been recorded in medical scrolls. or if it has.. then it’s highly unspecified? — so nobody really knows what the hell is going on. that’s just his brain! he doesn’t know where he’s going and sometimes that’s alright! (i’m sure modern day historians and cognitive psychologists would LOVE you ryeol!)
a lifelong learner: this isn’t equated strictly to the world of academics! ryeol is a lifelong learner and pupil in every way possible. from what he could absorb emotionally, spiritually, and intellectually — whether about the lives of people, past civilizations, how artistry came to be, or the *jaden smith voice* socioeconomic state of the world, you name it!
although in my stats page for ryeol mentions his introverted mbti, i’d like to come out now and say that he’s a proud ambivert. takes him awhile to want to approach strangers, but, once that threshold of apprehension has been knocked down after revealing that he’s a weirdo.. then you’ve got a professional yapper in him! i’m afraid at his core, he truly loves to yap. you’re talking about one thing and he’s bringing up the next. like, okay. honestly. i’m not even gonna hold yall to it — bro do be stupid and acting thoughtlessly, so! that is that. you have been warned. he means well tho.
intensely unamused by his family’s generational wealth. ryeol is a little embarrassed that the yoons rose to riches as merchants, which is predominantly their entire estate — all business and networking. point is, ryeol feels like his nobility (or the importance of) could be denounced, in comparison to other noteworthy houses, if it weren’t without the wealth. he doesn’t have to fight for anything, material wise, or desire much for it to just come crashing onto his lap. you would think this would spoil him, but it bores ryeol to know he’s lived a life without the need to earn. i suppose this is why he’s ridiculously frugal, not that he doesn’t enjoy nice things, but… sometimes nice things don’t serve him much purpose. wealth does answer to financial stability, though. that, he likes. perhaps yoon ryeol is a hypocrite in his own right.
can’t keep a straight face: whether trying to bite down on a smile in an inappropriate situation (routinely has done this in the court as a boy growing up — he even laughed once, too) or be visually void of emotions. that being said, yoon ryeol has an innate partiality for mischief! he doesn’t listen to his elders, siblings, and ends up paying the price for his foolishness. and trust me, he’s paid the consequences for it all his life, and will continue to. from petty court doings to bickering and banter, it’s no wonder he is house yoon’s most reprimanded.
in dostoevsky’s terms, father of “the idiot” (myshkin you will always be famous — can you tell i’ve picked up some inspo?): yoon ryeol has to fuck around and find out. one way or the other, somehow; it’s in his blood! that’s probably why he’s so dedicated to his scientific findings which is essentially all about.. fucking around and finding out, tbh. the greatest discoveries are born from mistakes. errors. trial and errors!
possible connections
fair warning that i’m quite a plot heavy person so despite the general connections below, i’d love to flesh them out to the best of my ability!
general: best friend/confidant, childhood friends (have they parted? or stayed within each other’s circle?), enemies turned acquaintanceship, sparring partners, combat instructor, a wonky situationship, former classmates, an ex, someone that he absolutely despises because you’re entitled to your wrong political opinion.
1a. fellow nomads? travelers? educators? wanderers? where are you all? in search of someone even remotely interested in ryeol’s purposeful academic findings who embark on his journey all across yuha island and/or otherwise, gather! maybe he bribed you for a specific reason (utp upon plotting) or your muse joined out of their own accord.. will they get caught outside of grounds? will they not? either way, we’re heading west! or south!

STATUS OF TOONTOWN (MONTH 0, DAY 10)
Tumblr media
Toontown Central
Incredibly dangerous, avoid at all cost.
Overrun with infecteds, but a few survivors remain. They are in hiding and seem to be dwindling in numbers though.
The gates couldn't hold the infected, they lasted a lot shorter than Mayor Flippy was expecting.
Note of interest: Mayor Flippy presumed deceased or infected. How will Toontown make it without it's mayor? Morale decreased.
Barnacle Boatyard
Mad Doodle Disease quickly spreading here due to close proximity to the source.
Most civilians were prepared, and are able to fend them off.
Two safehouses have opened up, one on Lighthouse Lane and the other on Anchor Avenue. Anchor Avenue safehouse only accepts Cogs, but that's quickly changing as more and more Toons beg to be let it. Lighthouse Lane safehouse only accepts Toons, and that doesn't seem to be changing anytime soon.
Note of interest: Exports have stopped being sent and imports have stopped arriving due to worries of the disease spreading to areas outside Toontown.
Ye Olde Toontowne
Mad Doodle Disease quickly spreading here due to close proximity to the source.
Heavily unprepared and suffering greatly due to it.
A hub for mutations due to most infected Toons already being a little ill. Also due to the magic coursing through their veins.
Prisoners of the dungeon going to be left to die if evacuation is necessary.
Safehouse was attempted to be set up in the dungeon, however the constant glitchy chattering of one of the prisoners drove the refugees mad. Safehouse moved to a secluded alleyway on Wizard Way instead, guarded off with chainlink fence, barbed wire, and just a touch of magic.
Note of interest: Elders are attempting to push the disease back with magic.
Daffodil Gardens
Mad Doodle Disease quickly spreading here due to close proximity to the source.
Interestingly enough, the Toons here appear to have strong immune systems, possibly due to having to get used to all the pollen floating in the air.
Safehouse set up in the long abandoned Spill the Beans shop. Detective Lima still missing, after all this time.
Note of interest: Couch Zucchini safely traveled to Barnacle Boatyard to help run the Lighthouse Lane safehouse. We wish him the best of luck in coaching the refugees there on how to defend themselves.
Sellbot HQ
Disease not spread here en mass, however a few infecteds seem to wander here. Quickly discarded of, however.
A safehouse has been set up by the Senior Vice President. It only accepts Sellbots, however.
Mezzo Melodyland
Mad Doodle Disease quickly spreading here due to close proximity to the source.
Seems to be surviving well. Infecteds are dispatched quickly, and survivors are kept happy by playing music.
Safehouse set up in the theater on Tenor Terrace. Accepts both Cogs and Toons, and is attempting to create a perfect harmony between the two.
Instruments are often used as makeshift weapons against the infected.
Note of interest: High Roller mysteriously vanished after posting one last post on his blog, announcing the sudden cancelation of his gameshow, his whereabouts are currently unknown. Dave BruBot also seems unusually upset about something, and doesn't seem to preform as much as he used to, unlike the other performers.
Cashbot HQ
Disease not spread here en mass, however a few infecteds seem to wander here. Quickly discarded of, however.
Safehouses have been setup in the mints by the Chief Financial Officer. It only accepts Cashbots, though.
Note of interest: Trains have stopped arriving, most likely to contain the spread of the disease to only Toontown.
The Brrrgh
Disease finding it hard to spread here, due to Barnacle Boatyard and Mezzo Melodyland being tough as nails and killing lots of infecteds.
Still taking the disease quite seriously however, and are on high alert.
Lil Oldman came out of hiding, and set up a safehouse in his hideout. Requires a bit of work to be allowed in, however.
Note of interest: Resistance Ranger Rocky desperately desires a raise.
Lawbot HQ
Disease has not spread here yet.
Regardless, safehouses still have been setup in the lawfices by the Chief Legal Officer. They only accept Lawbots, however.
Lawbots are HIGHLY suspicious of each other.
Acorn Acres
Disease finding it hard to spread here, but some infecteds have still been found.
A safehouse has been setup behind the waterfall in the playground.
Chip Revvington and Spruce Campbell reportedly hiding out in Cut to the Chase! Logging Co.
Note of interest: Plans to evacuate into the forest if things get bad.
Bossbot HQ
Disease has not spread here yet.
Regardless, a safehouse has been setup in the clubhouse by the Chief Executive Officer. They only accept Bossbots, however.
Still regularly holding banquets and enjoying golf to raise morale amongst the hideouts.
Drowsy Dreamland
Disease has not spread here yet.
Toons are unaware, Cogs are aware.
They actually slept through literally every warning that was given to them. They think everything is still okay.
Note of interest: The only reason they haven't crumbled yet is because The Brrrgh and Mezzo Melodyland are making sure no infecteds can get to them.
Boardbot HQ
Unknown.
Note of interest: Status on Robert Cyger and his family are unknown.

Speculations and theories after 16th episode of King-Ohger
A new episode and a new theory! Or rather expanding on previous ones. Or even more accurately, in my case, adding new ingredients to the soup of ideas and speculations
So in the latest episode of King-Ohger (16th) we learned that the culprit behind the Wrath of Gods was actually identified and they are being held captive by the previous Supreme Judge (or whatever Rita's title is). The whole thing involved the Queen to fake her death and guard the cultprit for 15 years, while her husband takes the blame for killing her and spends said 15 years in prison and they leave the responsibility of ruling Gokkan to a 10-year-old Rita. They went with all those measures, because apparently, the crime committed cannot be judged by law (or sth like that). Well, causing a world-wide disaster and slaughtering lots of people seems like something that would easily get you a life sentence or even a death penalty, without going through all of that trouble, which means that this case can't possibly be that simple. Not only the guilt can't be clearly stated, but also, the case itself requires secrecy
Now, we've been given various glipses of information about the Wrath of Gods throughout the episodes, but during narration Jerami mentioned some interesting detail. He said that after the fated event, all the countries became dependant on Shugoddom. Now that we think about what we've got so far, it all makes sense. Rita and Himeno were just little children, N'kosopa was just a ruin at the time, used as a scrap heap of Shugoddom (as Yanma said). Meanwhile, Racules would be around 16 years old at the time and prepared to rule all his life, so it feels natural that he would take the lead in the world after the Wrath. The only exception being Kaguragi and Toufu. Kaguragi was in similar age as Racules and since he managed to lead a rebellion against the previous ruler, he clearly has leadership skills. But then, what is the very next thing that happens between Toufu and Shugoddom? Kaguragi secures help for Toufu in form of Demi-Shugods from Shugoddom in exchange for his own sister! Now, the only ruler that could potentially rival with Racules has become his puppet! Seems a little too convenient, doesn't it?
Let's go back to Shugoddom for a moment. So far, other kingdoms had rather clear themes. N'kosopa creates technology, Ishabana's domain are medicine and art, Toufu is all about agriculture and providing food and Gokkan is essentially an international prison colony, but Shugoddom was quite puzzling for the fanbase as to what does it do exactly? Sure, we've known it's the first kingdom or that it's aesthetic theme are gears and so on, but until recently we couldn't exactly figure out what could they provide to the other kingdoms. Now we know that Shugoddom's primary export goods are their Demi-shugods, like the snails and spiders traded for Suzume, those flying little TVs or pillbug taxi. This brings us back to the Wrath of the Gods, as Himeno mentioned that Shugoddom didn't send their demi-shugods to help them. And, of course, there is that gigantic swarm of cicadas
One can already see where this is going. Yes, indeed. I suspect that King Red killed with poison in Ishabana! (They're all even colour coded, anyway...) Previous king of Shugoddom and Gira and Racules' father, despite not showing up in the show so far at all nor being discussed by the characters, already has his name - Corsus Hastie - revealed back from the times when the show was just starting. Now that we know that not all previous kings are dead and could show up in the show, this could point to the relevance of the character to the story.
Before we'll go to his potential motives of let's go through means. As we know, Shugoddom produces demishugods, so if anyone could produce the swarm of cicadas, someone important in Shugoddom would be the best bet (unless it's some ancient army that layed dormant for years or sth). But he'd also need GodScorpion's venom. As we know, Sasorine's soul was in Gokkan, but the Shugod itself was called by Gira in Shugoddom. In episode 13 or so, Himeno wants Gira to communicate with Scopi, but he's unable to reach it in Ishabana, and he only hears the Greater Shugods underneath Shugoddom. This suggests that GodScorpion has been lying underneath Shugoddom the whole time and if so, even without the soul, King Corsus didn't have very far from the Shugod if he wanted to gather the venom for his purposes. The problematic would be actually going underground and knowing that GodScorpion is there in the first place. That's where the Bugnarok comes in! We saw them store the Greater Guardian Deities at their HQ and Gira sensing them under Shugoddom. Also, when Jerami emerges out of Bugnarok hiding place, he makes his first appearance in Shugoddom. This suggests that Bugnarok's main base lies right under Shugoddom (unless they have more than one and/or network of tunnels leading to every kingdom, but at least them sitting under Shugoddom is confirmed). That makes any potential cooperation between Shugoddom and Bugnarok far more convenient
But if he really was the one behind the Wrath of Gods, what would his reasons be? Of course, he could have simply wanted to seize the other kingdoms, but if his motive was simply conquest, then his conviction would be rather simple as well, wouldn't it? Unless the reason would be sth like not wanting for a conflict to break out between the kingdoms, but that's rather doubtful, imo. Far more probable, imo, would be if he had some good intentions behind his actions, but it still wouldn't justify, even slightly, what he bought upon the world, because whatever he was aiming at, sacrificing some people to make it better for others is completely unjust, as the other group could have lived just fine as they were and thus the improvement would have been just a whim and not a necessity. But what if it was? What if he sacrificed one group of people to save another one? Here we'd have a typical trolley problem
If, let's say, Bugnarok managed to plant giant cacoons (like the ones in episode 10) under every major city of Shugoddom and threaten to blow them up, destroying the whole kingdom? For example, of course. We already know that Bugnarok waited 2000 years not because they were dormant or anything like that, but because they were following Jerami's prophecy. Nothing prevents them from preparing for the foretold year. As we know, their hideout is right under Shugoddom so they could have prepared it without a problem and going to the King to blackmail him would be just a short trip as well. Add to that any of the variants of "Bugnarok meddles within Shugoddom court" theories and the king would find himself backed into a corner
Now, I don't know how would they possibly solve a threat like this in the show nor why wouldn't Bugnarok just do it with all of the kingdoms, but regardless of what the threat is exactly, it can't be really judged in an indisputable matter. As a king of Shugoddom, his duty would require him to save his people, even if it means dirtying his hands, as Kaguragi would say. On the other hand, he killed many other people to achieve that and it can't just go unpunished. What's more, revealing the threat will not only cause a mass panic among the population and may provoke the Bugnarok to fullfill the threat. Even if they don't if the king returns, they might just force him to do another horrible thing
With the king gone, the judgement remains unresolved and Bugnarok is left with no one to further blackmail. Well, except Racules who would become the new king. The question is, why wouldn't they blackmail him back at the time? Ah, yes, the prophecy that foretold Bugnarok's return 15 later. But then, why would Corsus have to disappear? Or maybe the disappearance wasn't something he planned, but was caught by the Gokkan crew? That being said, Racules being left with the country to govern, surrounded by Bugnarok spies would be hard enough, so having to also take care of his younger brother who could be used as another way to blackmail him would be exhausting
Here into play comes Gira's kidnapping. The reason why his very existance was erased, being that the information of his kidnapping would bring dishonour to the royal family always sounded like a bullshit excuse. If the situation described above would take place, though, Gira disappearing from the castle would not only ensure Gira's safety and lighten Racules' burden, it would leave Racules as the only remaining member of the royal family that would be available to Bugnarok. If Bugnarok tried to put a usurper on the throne, they wouldn't have as much support or devotion from the population like the rightful heir to the throne. What's more, power shift could raise people's suspicions and have them speculate on the reasons behind the power shift, risking Bugnarok to be revealed 15 years prematurely. To the equation we should add OhgerCalibur ZERO and King-Ohger ZERO. Those can only be used by someone with the genes of a Hastie family. Racules being the last of his family would make him untouchable to Bugnarok, if they want to make use of KingOhger ZERO
Bugnarok's involvement in Wrath of Gods is rather clear when we see Kamejim being dead-set on eliminating Shiron as soon as he left the prison. Shiron knows far too much and thus should be eliminated. If even he knows as little as who the culprit was, if it truly was Corsus Hastie, it would point everyone towards Shugoddom and could expose Bugnarok's machinations within the kingdom. Then why wouldn't Bugnarok kill him earlier, throughout those 15 years? Could be that they didn't want to draw attention to him, but if he spilled the beans they would be exposed and wouldn't be able to stop him on time. I guess it is possible that prison in Gokkan is just too well-secured to get in there. Sure, we saw Bugnarok break into the castle in episode 5, but it's possible that the cells are extra durant, as to prevent prisoners from digging their way out, and this way making it impossible for Bugnarok to reach
Why bring this up now? Well, if we remember the duel between Hastie brothers, Racules' demand regarding Gira's defeat was for him to be locked up in Gokkan. What's more, Racules thanked Kaguragi for his cooperation with capturing Gira, because if the matter didn't have international nature, Rita wouldn't take care of it. One could question whether Kaguragi was supposed to bring Gira back to Racules and decided to hand him over to Rita on his own accord, but Racules' reaction and the fact that Rita is seen investigating the case even before Gira was finally captured by Kaguragi suggests otherwise. If Shiron remained safely in his cell throughout 15 years, this suggests that so would Gira, yet not only Rita refused to put Gira into a safe cell in Gokkan, she also revealed to everyone Gira's identity as Racules' younger brother, putting both of them in even greater danger than before. No wonder that usually calm Racules lost his cool at that very moment
There are other things about Racules and Shugoddom that are yet to be covered. For example, his alliance with Bugnarok. If Bugnarok infiltrated Shugoddom, why make such a fuss about it? First of all, it's very possible that the infiltrating operation was Kamejim's doing and the meeting was supposed to have Desnarak involved. Another thing would be, that right now Racules' cooperation with Bugnarok is clear to everyone and no one is very surprised because they know that the peace negotiations took place. If they hadn't happen, it could make everyone question how did Shugoddom even manage to contact Bugnarok let alone to convince them to join forces. What's more, in current situation, it's very easy to shift the blame for the invasion on Jerami. After all, it's his silly idea of getting humans and Bugnarok to coexist that led to the disaster, didn't it? And he was the one who introduced Racules and Desnarak to each other! Because, of course, there is no evidence that the two had ever interacted between that very moment, isn't it?
Another yet unsolved mystery of Shugoddom and the Hastie family is GodKuwagata, it remaining dormant for years and Gira waking it up as well as Gira's ability to talk to Shugods. First of all, since we know that Shugoddom is filled with demishugods, can Gira talk to them too, can he only talk to guardian deities or maybe he'd be able to but the demi-shugods just don't talk much? Another thing is, since Shogoddom is literally State of Shugods (Shugod; -dom), could it be possible that whole Hastie family has that ability? After all, Racules still remains an enigma and he keeps his cards hidden, given above specultions, even from his closest coworkers. Maybe the ability to talk to shugods is related to the very same part of their genes that provides them with the red marks on their right temple and allows them to operate KingOhger ZERO?
But back to Kuwagon. When Gira manages to awaken it, Racules reacts by saying that it's impossible. He isn't shown to be accompanied by anyone, so we can assume that wasn't part of his act to keep Gira's identity hidden. This, together with the fact that GodKuwagata has been dormant for many years, suggests that Racules was genuinely surprised and didn't have an idea of what has happened. Again, if the theory above would turn out to be correct, it would mean that Racules has known about Bugnarok in Shogoddom's royal court, about Wrath of the Gods and circumstances of Gira's kidnapping. He's always seemed like he knows much more than other kings. He also seemed to recognize Jerami when he first appeared and Jerami's mention of history before the Great War seemed to mapke him realise something, but awakaning of Kuwagon seemed to be a surprise even for him. Again, Bugnarok weren't dormant themselves, they only waited 2000 years to reemerge because of Jerami's prophecy and thus they were able to still act and make their moves and preparations during that time. Imo, it's not impossible that the Bugnarok moles have been residing in Shugoddom for centuries. Maybe they were even the ones behind God Kuwagata going dormant or the fact that it's the only Guardian Deity without its soul being located within its cockpit
Another thing to speculate on is Suzume, she's been in Caucasus Kabuto Castle for 15 years already. I'm very curious on what did she learn over that time and what her relationship with Racules really is. Could she be in on the whole thing as well? Maybe they somehow cooperate together under Bugnarok's noses? It's worthto mention, that it's most likely thanks to her why Kaguragi decided to surrender Toufu to Racules and seeing what is about to happen in N'kosopa next week, I wouldn't be surprised if it was deliberate action to spare Toufu the same fate
What comes to mind are also flashbacks of Racules and Yanma working together in the past, contrasted with Yanma being now the one who opposes Racules the most. Coincidentally, he is the one that wasn't appointed as the ruler right after the events of the Wrath of Gods and he is the one who broke off from under Racules' leadership over the Quintet Alliance. Could Racules have done something to set Yanma against him? I mean, he sure had to, but did he do it on purpose? After all, (again, according to speculations above) the Wrath of Gods was specifically engineered to have all the other kingdoms to fall under Shogoddom's influence, that was by now in Bugnarok's grip. We remember how easy it was for Kaguragi to manipulate others in episode 4 as long as he ticked the correct boxes. Yanma and his drive to always emerge on top, as well as circumstances of his raise to power would make him the perfect target to sabotage the Alliance, if such necessity would occure. And if Alliance being led by Racules was orchestrated by the Bugnarok themselves, then it makes it quite possible that Racules purposefully discouraged Yanma towards himself, to sabotage Bugnarok's efforts. (Or maybe Yanma is on it as well? Though I doubt it)
That being said, I love all the little pieces we've been getting throughout the show and how such a complex intrigue is forming right in front of our eyes! I can't wait to see next episode and to finally see Racules back in action and working with Bugnarok, nonetheless. Many people already pointed out that Racules' evil mannerism from the preview resemble Gira's. Of course, that brings back suspicion that the two brothers used to play the exact same way as Gira did with kids in the orphanage, just with Racules playing the role of the Evil King, instead. I can't wait for more to be revealed and to see how the events unfold and what will the upcoming episodes bring to the table
Summary (speculations, not confirmed, major points)
Bugnarok has infiltrated Shugoddam's royal court over 15 years ago
Corsus Hastie, previous king of Shugoddom and Racules and Gira's father, is the culprit behind events of the Wrath of the Gods
He was forced to do so by the Bugnarok that infiltrated his kingdom and that's why judging his crime is such a difficult matter
Gira was taken from the royal court and erased from records for his own safety
Racules is in on everything: Bugnarok infiltrators, Wrath of the Gods etc.
Racules tried to imprison Gira in Gokkan to keep him safe like Shiron
Racules is forced to cooperate with Bugnark just like his father was

Lusamine’s Opinions™
Tumblr media
After a lot of mulling on my end, here are Lusamine’s opinions on certain people, organizations, and public figures; all of this is a baseline, and will fluctuate depending on different interpretations, headcanons and muses.
The Pokémon Professors
Lusamine has a great deal of respect for every region’s adjacent professors. She considers herself a scientist, first and foremost, and makes sure that she keeps up-to-date with their findings. Professor Oak, Professor Rowen, and Professor Magnolia were all laying the groundwork for their grand research when Lusamine was just a child— while figures like Professor Elm, Professor Sycamore and Professor Juniper were breaking into the field when Lusamine was in her early 20’s.
There was a point in time where the Alola region had considered hiring Lusamine as an adjacent professor, but she declined the position, and vouched for Professor Kukui to take on the role, due to his impressive research surrounding the Z-crystals and how it effected Pokémon move behavior.
Professor Sada and Professor Turo are two scholars that Lusamine holds in high regard. She is unaware of the existence of the Paradox Pokémon and the Time Machine that was built in Area Zero, but she is aware of the tera crystals, and the immense amount of time that Sada and Turo have poured into their research. She considers the two of them some of the most dedicated minds of the current era. And if she were to ever discover what was at the bottom of the crater, she would be offering funding, and some of her best scientists, to assist in any way possible.
Regional Governments
The Aether Foundation has branches in several spots across the globe— but the base of operations is the Aether Paradise in Alola. Because of that, Lusamine only spares attention for places where Aether has a footing. Currently, beyond Alola, Aether is operating near Mossdeep City in Hoenn, and in a modest branch building outside of Canalave City in Sinnoh. She is vying for a permit to operate in Unova, so that she can better study the Elgyem that live in the region. Aether employees can also be found studying Mt. Moon on occasion, but she has not bothered to work independently in either Kanto or Johto, due to certain hostilities in the regions.
That being said, anywhere that Aether operates, Lusamine attempts to keep up with the politics, and works to assure that Aether is seen in a positive light.
In the case of the Galar region’s extremely strict import and export laws, and Paldea’s newly opened borders, Lusamine knows little to nothing about those regions, nor does she have any interest in setting foot into such uncharted territory. Not only that, it would put her in an awkward competition with Macro Cosmos in Galar, and the strict Paldean government in Paldea, which she would rather not deal with. She is also not too pressed about having a presence in Kalos, because from what she understands— a billionaire named Lysandre holds enough influence over the region.
Regional Champions/Gym Leaders/Elite Four.
Once upon a time, Lusamine was an avid Pokémon battler, but she does not have enough time to dedicate herself to the practice anymore. That being said, she does not keep up with the big names in the scene, unless they are household names— such as Red or Leon. Names such as those are tossed around so frequently that she need not look into them. But she wouldn’t be able to tell you who the champion of Unova or Kanto-Johto is, nor is she inclined to care.
The same goes for members of the gym leader circuits and the elite four. Many of her employees follow the careers of these professional trainers, but Lusamine does not personally. She has heard of the more popular faces, such as Grimsley, Malva, Rika, Caitlin and Lance. (There’s actually a few of her employees who are HUGE fans of them.)
The Alolan elite four, of course, she knows pretty personally. It’s strictly professional, however. You won’t see her going out of her way to socialize with Molayne, though she does have an appreciation for his inventiveness.
Organizations
I’m just going to go down the list in chronological order, since there’s so many squads now.
ROCKET is the organization that Lusamine knows the most about, due to Alola’s close proximity to Kanto, and a lot of the shared technology. Her overarching opinion is going to change depending on individual verses and interpretations, but generally speaking, she follows the philosophy of “they leave me alone, I leave them alone.” To her, the fact that Rocket exists in the first place is a testament to societal collapse and the greed of humans, but she can somewhat understand Giovanni’s angle of controlling the world; she can find the logic in trying to control what already exists for the sake of self-preservation and fascination, even though it is something that doesn’t interest her personally. Paired with the fact that both Rocket and Aether have worked to develop new types of PokéBalls, are busy creating new Pokémon through questionably unethical experiments, and the fact that there are several Aether employees who use Porygon 2, a Pokémon that Rocket invented, it’s safe to assume that there is SOME sort of connection between the two groups.
MAGMA and AQUA are both groups that have potential in the race to improve the environment, but the extremes that they take in order to achieve their goals is absolutely ridiculous in Lusamine’s opinion. She thinks that, of the two, Maxie is easier to reason with— Archie reminds her of Guzma: loud, reckless and hardheaded. She believes that, if Magma and Aqua were to stop going at each others throats, and put their heads together, that they could greatly benefit the global ecosystems— however, expanding the land, and expanding the ocean, is illogical to her, and she does not see the long term benefit in changing the terrain, nor does she think that it is a necessary to improve the lives of humans and Pokémon.
GALACTIC is very fascinating to Lusamine, Cyrus especially. He is such a young man, but his personality is eerily similar to Lusamine’s, and he has a brilliant mind. It is unfortunate to her that his ideals are so extremely out of touch with reality, that it would not be worth working with him; the data and technology related to outer space and contacting other dimensions is priceless information for Lusamine, and she would be willing to work alongside Galactic, if the end goal weren’t to completely reset all of reality. After Cyrus’ disappearance, Lusamine would absolutely be interested in reaching out to the splintered pieces of Galactic, with the hopes that their knowledge would assist in her research on Ultra Space.
The full extent of PLASMA’S plans is unknown to Lusamine; she doesn’t know that Ghetsis intends on disarming everybody, except for himself and a select few others. She also does not know about the plan to use Kyurem to take control of the Unova region. What she does know is that Plasma seems keen on protecting Pokémon, which garners Lusamine’s interest. If she were to learn about the full extent of Ghetsis’ plans, she would definitely disagree at several different points, but unlike Magma, Aqua and Galactic, Plasma does not want to blow up the world. She can reason and peacefully disagree with people who have different philosophical points, but she cannot do that with megalomaniacs. She would actually agree that many people should NOT own Pokémon, actually. It would be another case of “you leave me alone, and I leave you alone.” She’d especially be intrigued by the creation of Genesect, of course, since genetic research is something that Aether has a hand of. Colress is also a MAJOR point of interest, because of his involvement with technology and engineering.
Lusamine does NOT know that FLARE exists. She has no idea that there is a fanatical cult that wants to blow up the world. (Why do so many people want to blow up the world?) What she IS aware of, is Lysandre’s major involvement in the Kalos region, and his inventions. At face value, Lusamine would have a great deal of respect for Lysandre’s efficiency and innovation, and perhaps she would be interested in learning more about his plans to improve the region. All of that would come to a stop, however, if she learned about Flare, and their goals. To her, the idea of one human man deciding who is chosen and unchosen, is delusional, psychotic, and narcissistic. In her mind, humanity is already flawed— a humanity born from the vision of one man would be even more flawed. In the end, it is likely that Lusamine would forever consider Lysandre a threat if she came to know of Flare’s plans, and would have an exit strategy planned if the Ultimate Weapon were ever fired off.
MACRO COSMOS, as a monopoly in the Galar region, appears as a powerful business conglomerate that Lusamine would certainly be interested in! She would also offer to have Aether sponsor some of the prospective gym challengers in the Galar region. Chairman Rose and Oleana seem like reasonable, but private people, to Lusamine, which she can absolutely agree with and understand. Socially, they may get along as well. However, yet again it boils down to the “you want to blow up the world” issue. She has no idea that Eternatus exists. If she did, she would be all over wanting to research its existence, especially since the creature fell from the sky, much like Necrozma. The plan to have Eternatus gobble everything up, of course, is where Lusamine shakes her head and decides that Rose is delusional. Not only that, the blueprints to Type: Null were stolen by someone involved with Macro Cosmos— and if Lusamine ever finds out about that, she is going to start a legal nightmare.
Lusamine simply doesn’t know that YELL and STAR exist, and their existence doesn’t impact anything that she is doing, so she has very little care about them— much like SKULL, she would view those groups as nothing but disruptive kids. Of course, she would have a healthy appreciation for the inventiveness of Ortega. The creation of the Starmobiles is silly on the outside, but it is an artificial symbiotic relationship between multiple Pokémon, which is entirely unheard of. Lusamine would be impressed, and likely offer Ortega scholarship opportunities and an internship at Aether. The same goes for Penny, she would find her to be incredibly bright, especially with her ability to infiltrate security systems at such a young age.
Last but not least, the Orre region’s factions, SNAGEM and CIPHER, are not well known outside of Orre and its bordering regions, and so she would care very little about them unless they began to cause her problems. Cipher’s discovery of shadowing Pokémon would certainly catch her eye, however, from a scientific stand point. Her opinion on the entire ordeal? Research is research. She would not vouch for the creation of shadow Pokémon though. It is an unnecessary means of weaponry that, in her mind, does not need to be encouraged. If an organization needs to alter Pokémon to THAT extent in order for them to be powerful, and to take control of the region’s government, then the hostility makes it entirely unworthy taking advantage of the science. Snagem as an organization would remind her of Rocket in more ways than one, and she would be more inclined to reason with them, as a result. Yet again, it is a case of “you do not want to blow up the world, leave me alone and I will leave you alone.”

David Tennant says Bafta film awards will be ‘evening of generosity and joy’
David Tennant has said the Bafta film awards will be an “evening of generosity and joy” rather than stars being roasted when he hosts the show this weekend.
The Scottish actor, 52, will be helming the star-studded ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall in London’s Southbank Centre on Sunday, where Oppenheimer will be leading the pack with 13 nominations.
Tennant, who recently reunited with his Doctor Who co-star Catherine Tate for the show’s 60th anniversary episodes, teased that she could make an appearance with him.
Ahead of the ceremony, he told the PA news agency: “There are some wonderful famous examples, of course, of people making terribly near-the-knuckle comments and some very funny things that we’ve all enjoyed in previous awards ceremonies, that’s not probably my style anyway, and I know that’s not what Bafta are going for.
“We want to have an evening that’s a celebration and that won’t make people feel uncomfortable and won’t have people being roasted in any way, so it will hopefully be an evening of generosity and joy and a love for this industry that is one of the great success stories of this country.
“We’re very good at the arts. There’s lots of things that we we struggle with, but the arts is something that remains one of Britain’s greatest exports, so let’s celebrate it and enjoy that and trumpet it to the world.”
Tennant admitted he felt a bit “bewildered” when he was first asked to host, but then thought: “What a laugh, what a lark.”
“It just felt like an honour and a privilege to be asked to do something so august”, he added.
“It’s just nice to be on that side of it. It’s obviously thrilling for everyone who’s nominated and there’s so many exciting films to be celebrating, but also that’s pretty nerve-racking, I just have to stand up.”
Tennant, who has also starred in crime drama Broadchurch and fantasy comedy Good Omens, has previously presented as part of Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day line-up.
He said hosting not being his normal day job has taken some pressure off of him, adding: “I sort of don’t have anything to prove, because this isn’t really what I do.
“It’ll either work and everyone will be terribly nice about it or it’ll be a total disaster and I’ll never be asked again. Either way – it’s fine.”
The actor revealed he was feeling “pretty relaxed” ahead of the show but thinks the prospect of it will become more “nerve-racking” in the lead-up to the big night.
Asked if his co-star Tate could make an appearance alongside him at the show, he said: “Listen, there’s nobody I enjoy working with more than Catherine, so who knows?”
In 2023 Tennant appeared with Tate at the TV Baftas to present the best features award to Joe Lycett VS Beckham: Got Your Back At Xmas.
As the host, he said he was staying entirely neutral” on who he thinks could win big at the award show but praised the level of talent in the world of film this year.
“It’s been a big old year, hasn’t it? And there was that Barbenheimer moment in the middle of the year where suddenly everyone’s talking about going to the cinema and being part of an audience,” he said.
“We’re bouncing back (after) the world went through a slightly weird thing, where we all locked ourselves in our house.
“Cinema, as with theatre, which is another area that is hugely important to myself and to the arts world, they are all about people having a collective experience and sitting in rooms together…
“And it took a minute and I think this is the year where that’s bounced back…
“You look at the the shortlist and there’s some extraordinary stuff on it, extraordinary performances and brilliant pieces of work, so it’s a great year to be hosting this event.
“It feels like a bit of a bumper crop and I feel like I’ve won a prize without being up for it or having to worry about that side of it.”
