"Talking about your favorite manga with Idia"
Idia Shroud x femOtaku!Yuu
Warning:Not edited. All the manga titles are made up.
Tumblr media
Yuu had read too many Isekais to not know how how to navigate Twisted Wonderland. They all said the same thing; friendship and power could overcome anything! So far that's worked everytime.
Which was....great.
Perfect as though it was by design.
Okay, not to sound ungrateful but when Yuu was transported to another world she wanted to have a different kind-of story. This was too Shojo for her taste.
Grim and Deuce had recently made a summoning portal in Ramshackle which allowed Yuu to get stuff from her world. It was a blessing to have her old stuff. Especially, her manga collection.
Twisted Wonderland had its own genres of course like; magicless worlds, epic retellings of the Seven, and Dramas about heroes and princesses. They aren't that different from the ones in Yuu's world but they lack the best genre ever.
Yuu gleefully clutched the new copy of "The Villainess will have her revenge" as she rushed from class to the cafeteria when the bell rang. She finally had time to read it after summoning it this morning.
"I don't know why you hold that thing like a baby when you could be carrying me!" Grim whined as they sprinted down the hall.
Yuu wasn't looking where she was going and ran into Ortho holding a stack of books. A painful experience but a learning one. Like, maybe don't run in the halls.
"Sorry Ortho, I was a bit distracted. Are you okay?" Yuu said blushing from ear to ear.
"I'm fine! I'd be more worried about you. You have a one track mind sometimes. Must be fun though!" Ortho sounded chipper as always but his unintentional insults could grat on nerves.
The two picked out there suff and continued in two different directions after Yuu took a moment for her favorite past time. Spoiling Ortho!
See!
She had a two track mind!
Ortho was just like Hector from "My son will be the male lead but I'm the Villain". It made Yuu want to spoil him more. Too bad that the genre was not sci-fi.
When Yuu finally sat to read she realized that this wasn't her book. It was a book on coding! She must have been too distacted by Ortho's cuteness to notice. Which can only mean HE has it!
Yuu grieved the lost of her precious to the one Otaku she can never beat. Idia Shroud! Idia was a rival of sorts but not in the annoying minor antagonists way though, in a "His power level is too high but one day I will defeat him" way.
That is to say, they are good friends who play games and watch anime together on weekends.
But that didn't mean he can take her manga out from under her!
She was about to charge to his dorm to get it when the bell rang for lunch to end. Yuu sighed and trudged to class seething.
She sent Idia a string of texts in a creepy deep speech font.
"G̴̨̗̞̟̲̘̟̽̾̅̌̏̾̌i̷̱̓̒̾v̷̡̙͖̔͜e̸̛̗̣͚̠̦͕̫͙̱̪̝̳̮̭̊̈̂͛͛͗͐̔̄̈́̂ ̷̪͇̜̣͍̋̌̀̓͐̾͛̐͗̏̀̒̓̚͠i̷̯̺̤̻̭͕̬̟̤̅͋͂̾̉̓͂̚͠t̶͚̜͎͂̑̈͛̽̏͛̈́̄̚̚͜͠ ̵̩̮̗̂b̵̨̨̢̧̨̢̛̛̦̮̻͇̺͇͕̥͗̈́͌̾ä̸̧̙̬̝̣̱̱̺̟̽̏̏̐͋̓͑̀̾͋͐̃̚͝c̸̘̬̮͈͚̫͌̒͗͋̌́͌͂͑̅̂̌̃̈́͘k̴̨̨̛̹̬̥̯̳̰̙͓̫̹̲̃͋̉́͝͝"

"But I want my book! >:("
"The one Ortho brought to me. Knew it wasn't mine. It's so normie it had to be yours."
"HOW DARE YOU! >:0"
"When classes end your ass is mine blue boy!"
True to her word Yuu burst into Idia's room after class was over.
"Normie?! What part of this is normie?!"
"I said what I said." Idia said holding the book.
He was like this this sometimes. Teasing and troublesome like the other boys but only when it was in his room where he was comfortable and with Yuu who he's comfortable with.
"How do you even know that? You've never read the series before! Abigail Nightingale is the best protagonist!"
"It's a standard world with no magic isn't it?" Idia asked flipping through the pages again.
"Absolutely not! This is a Villainess book! The best genre ever! The trope are way different! Books form your world go on and on about how non magic worlds are different and desolate. It's just another version of post apocalyptic that doesn't want to rely on magic."
"Those are the best though. It's about the struggle to survive and use technology to further life." Idia whined like he always did then his favorites where mocked.
His instrest was peaked however. He had never heard of Villainess manga. He didn't really read shojo anymore, the protagonists were boring and sparkly.
"What is the book about?" Idia asked giving back the book.
Yuu immediately went to grab the rest of her collection. She squealed in excitement as she dragged Idia to sit down next to her as she flipped through the pages of book one. They sat shoulder to shoulder well almost Idia was really tall.
"Well it's about this girl Abigail-thats her there. And this guy Fabian. They are engaged but he betrays and kills her. It's real dramatic as he stabs her the trys to throw her off a cliff!" Yuu said delighted.
"He kills her? Why?" Idia asked distressed. Why would someone do that.
"That the thing he was cheating on her with her little sister Barbara. Abigail would never allow it but her father would if Abigail dissappeared."
"Her own father?"
"Her own father." Yuu said gravely
"It's a conspiracy but she doesn't know that. Fabian tried to fake an assassination on her but she grabbed his arm before she falls and says 'If I should die, so shall you my love. If I shall die I shall haunt you till death takes you.' and she falls alone"
"What?! It ends there?!" Idia yelked panicked.
During their talk Idia managed to pull Yuu into his lap as they read. His head tucked over her shoulder to get a good view of the page. It was cozy.
"Let me get the next book."
Reluctantly, Idia let go mortified when he realized what he was doing. His hair turned a bit pink.
Yuu didn't seem to notice when she returned, she plopped right back onto his lap and got comfortable again.
" In the next book, she survived the fall but at a cost. Her face is disfigured and scarred. So, she plots her revenge. She gets a vision, and it shows her the truth of her world. She is a character in a story. She is the villain, and her sister is the lead."
"That's bullshit. She was sleeping with her fiance." Idia grumbled and mumbled into Yuu's shoulder.
Yuu blushed as she noticed the feeling of Idia's lips near her neck as he talked to himself.
"Yeah, that's the point of the genre. It points out the usually the person made to be the villain is usually right. It points out the unreliable narrators of the "original" story. They can break promises and betray others but they get to be heroes. You're a bad guy for telling them no. Everything bad isn't their fault it's someone else's and they have to pay their price. It's not fair that someone else discides your fate and you have to follow it." Yuu sighed
It was clear it bothered her. Life in this world seemed to pull her towards staying here, just like in her manga. She wanted to rebel against that just because she felt trapped. But is that what she wanted? It confused her.
Idia didn't know the depth of Yuu's inner conflict but he knew her well enough to know when she was upset. He cautiously wrapped an arm around her waist in a sort of hug. It's harder for him to purposely initiate contact but Yuu appreciated it.
Idia marveled at the thought of these books understanding what he believed. Happily ever after is relative. No one can be happy forever and happiness comes at the cost of others. But this series made him believe that change was possible and Yuu made him believe that while happiness is not a constant it could last.
They spent the night laughing, ranting, and gushing over their favorite scenes. Unfortunately, they could binge the whole series so they had to schedule more of their reading sessions.
Yuu reminded a bunch of other series to read when they finished like "The Villainess who loved the Evil Emporor", "My Husband will be King", and "Hands off my son evil woman!"

Hello! I hope it's okay to ask, but as somebody that's been CLAMP-curious for a while now, where do you think is the best place to start with their manga, specifically? (No triggers or squicks to speak of!) I've considered just going in chronological release order so I'm better able to understand all the tie-ins and references, but I'm intimidated by the sheer amount and kind of stuck in analysis paralysis, haha. I'd appreciate your insight, thank you and no pressure if you'd rather not!
Hi :D
Yea Clamp is sort of infamous for complex connections between their works but I promise situation isn't as grim as it seems. Not all mangas are connected and even if some are it's not always the "you must read xyz first or you won't understand a thing" type of situation. Also chronological order of their mangas isn't necessarily the semantically order of what's going on in their multi-verses so I defo wouldn't recommend that approach (also RG veda, their debut manga, isn't something I'd rec to beginners)
I made a badly organized graph about connections in their works. It's not 100% accurate but I don't think some side character from other manga appearing on 10 pages would cause such confusion to ruin whole experience
Tumblr media
Let's start with Separate universes first:
Those 3 aren't all of separate universes but they are the most famous ones. For beginner I'd recommend only Magic Knight Reyrarth. It's a magical girl shojo isekai manga, some humor, romance and drama to it with nice plot twists. Nothing too heavy or hard for understanding so nice for beginners. There are 2 parts, each 3 vols long so you can check out first part to see if it's to your liking.
Universe 1:
You've probably heard of cardcaptor sakura and I've recommend it in similar fashion to magic knight rayearth (except it's even lighter and fluffier and imo better written). Ofc there's always a question of what sort of manga you're looking for, so something so fluffy and cute might not be to everyone's liking. You needn't prior knowledge of any other clamp mangas for ccs.
Tsubasa and xxxholic are whole different thing however.
Out of all clamp mangas, those are most deeply entwined; to the point where it's probably the best to read them at the same time (they were released during same period as well, 2003-2009/2010). Also characters from almost all clamp works appear in Tsubasa; but think of it as alternative universe since even if characters from let's say Clover do appear in tsubasa there's no requirement to read clover in order to understand happenings in tsubasa.
xxxholic you can read without tsubasa up to certain point, then you'd probs be confused without any references to tsubasa. All in all, those are two amazingly done mangas and I'd recommend: 1) tsubasa if you're more into adventures, plot twists, slow burn and found family trope and shonen-ly type of story 2) xxxholic if you're more into gothic josei, philosophy and deeper themes
Legal drug is sequal to Wish and those take same place in xxxholic universe but you don't need to read them to understand xxxholic. Similarly even if some of characters form xxxholic do appear in legal drug it's not rly necessarily to read xxxholic to understand it. Still I wouldn't reccomend legal drug or wish to beginners on simple principle that there are way better written clamp mangas out there
Universe 2:
I'll preface this by saying I never read Angelic Layer so I can't say anything about it rly.
Those 3 are very light mangas and definitely beginner-friendly. Some characters are shared but you won't be too confused by that so no prior knowledge required. I'd rec Chobits here. Looks can be deceiving and that's the case with that manga cuz it's way deeper than it seems ar first glance. Psychological themes along with light plot, romance, comedy and some little echii done in very vanilla way.
Universe 3:
Clamp school Detectives, Duklyon and Man of 20 faces are 3 very short (each is 2 vols long) lighthearted humor mangas. They're connected but since there's 0 serious plot it's not rly a bafflement to read one without another. They just happen to take place in same universe as Tokyo Babylon and X and reading those isn't necessary. I'd rec those 3 if you're looking for crack-y humor and a way to relax.
X is sequal to Tokyo Babylon and it spoils almost all happenings in Tokyo Babylon so I can't rly reccomend it (also it would traumatize beginner for life lol). Tokyo Babylon is social criticism tragedy drama with psychological elements added to it; as well as some comedy, drama and romance. It's 7 vols long and defo leaves a lasting impression so I'd rec it to beginners.
All in all, I'd say go with Magic Knight Reyearth, Cardcaptor sakura, xxxholic and/or Tsubasa (but if you read one read another tok cuz it'll be confusing otherwise) or Tokyo Babylon

Types of manga on the all time bestseller list, grouped by how surprising I found their various rankings:
Completely expected
00s shounen that became the face of anime. They might be good, they might be bad, but you know who they are.
Post-2010 popular action shounen you may or may not have read but you've definitely heard of. Globalization and the increased cultural acceptance of anime mean lots of recent record breakers. I just found a Spy x Family surprise toy at Five Below.
Rumiko Takahashi
80s coming-of-age baseball romcom in what we might call a "soft retro Rumiko Takahashi art style" because none of these are known outside of Japan. Their super high placement only seems bizarre if you haven't been a weeb your whole life
Old classics (astro boy, rose of Versailles)
Horny classics (much of the lowest tier)
90s or older gag comedy built on dudes contorting their faces like silly putty
Silly little kid adventures
80s sports manga that starts off realistic but gradually descends into madness to raise the stakes
Sports manga that doesn't start realistic and there's no way any of these moves are legal but the characters are all passionate cute boys
Cooking manga that only me and Japan know about. Cooking Papa should be even higher.
Pleasantly surprised
Horrible violent delinquents beat the fuck out of each other to determine who's the Worst. Cover is a sneering teen in a gakuran with a slick pompadour if it's near the 80s or shaved if closer to the 00s
Horrible violent delinquents beat the fuck out of each other but it's funny. Be glad it was made back then because "lol couldn't make this today" is something you'll think often
Realistic slice of life depiction of Just Some Guy
Vagabound? What are you doing up here?
Objectively knew of its popularity but still shocked by it
Visceral, anatomically unusual 80s-90s manga about muscular men committing increasingly bizarre acts of violence on each other. Always a favorite with 2000s gammer sites obsessed with proving their hobbies' manliness and those who liked posting contextless pages to freak people out. I don't have a problem with this so much as I can't grasp how stuff like Baki the Grappler isn't hyper niche.
Kid detectives. Another example of the "I already knew this was insanely popular but I'm not sure why" genre except unlike Baki the Grappler, I've read Conan and Kindaichi Files.
The first shojo appearance for miles, Boys Over Flowers. Did these books come with opium dusted on that shit or what
Unpleasantly surprised
Mediocre shonen you kind of knew was popular simply because the title popped a lot but YOU'VE never heard anyone talk about it, you're pretty sure you've never met a fan, and all the anime forums you wasted your time on wouldn't even bother insulting it, it was so low on the radar
All the big shojo names are lower than you'd think
Why is DEATH NOTE lower than the fucking SLIME ISEKAI?!?
Futari Ecchi 👎👎👎

Ok I really want to write Yuri so I will tell you about my otome isekai
So I write a otome Isekai where the protagonist is isekai'd in a otome game. Typical at first. BUT! instead of just accepting her new life she actually want to go back to her life even if she think she was hollow back then.
She meet the heroine, Kokoro Sorata, and like many fans of reverse harem outside of real connoisseur she's not really fond of her type of characters. As she reincarnated as the best friend of the heroine (she's heavily inspired by Shibuya Tomochika and Juri Chikamatsu), Chiemi Tomoda. At first she avoid her and her harem to try to master magic on her own. She's also paranoid about being caught as an impostor.
But she gradually come to appreciate the heroine even if she feel like her kindness make her "fake" due to her being in a game. Chiemi don't know if she should take Kokoro as a person or not.
The harem of Kokoro have a behavior more akin to the guys in brothers conflict so Chiemi find herself stepping in more and more to stop them. Many events will lead some of the male leads to have to change and even give up on Kokoro, beside the main male lead, the true route, who will grow more jealous and possessive of the heroine. With no surprise, he is a vampire.
Chiemi and Kokoro are bi4bi because I don't like the trope that if a woman don't like the men surrounding her she must be gay. The thing with that is that I feel a lot that people are lead to appreciate other based only on their sexual attraction and I find that stupid. It's like this belief that if someone defend someone else it must be only for sexual interest, wether it's a man or a woman.
Chiemi and Kokoro grow thanks to each other, both leading each other to love themselves more and Kokoro learn to say "no" more and Chiemi to be less negative.
Everything is inspired by my experience with Shojo, reverse harem in particular and obviously titles like beware the villainess and kill the villainess.
I often find myself wanting to ship the heroine and her best friend in reverse harem. People love passionate love stories and while I see their appeal I love the one who are more defined by kindness, trust and safety which is what Chiemi and Kokoro give each other
I won't tell more because then it'll be spoiler but I work on this story on both french and English to publish it on ao3 and Wattpad
My dream would be that this story work to begin with but could also become a manga or even crazier an anime.
For now just it being a light novel would do even if I don't know how to draw.
I posted more of it on my otome game blog but finally I want to post it there as well since I always say I want to talk more about my OCS.
Here their Charadesign :

STORY IDEA!
OKAY! So this idea is like a romance isekai but with a twist.
The story follows a girl (Let's call her... Angel for now.) who was obsessed with romance. She played all sorts of dating sims and loved all romance manwha, webtoons, Shojo, etc....
Angel always dreamed of having romance for herself where she could be with some one who loved her and she loved in return but was always to afraid. At any sign of rejection she would gave up right away. One day she decides to change her life and go out on a blind date set up by one of her friends but as she is waiting to cross the street to get to her date.... some one pushes her into traffic.
SO! You probably are thinking yeah yeah basic isekai story but I'm not done!
Of course Angel wakes up into a world of one of her favorite harem animes as a side character. She loved the heroine in this anime and as much as she wanted romance for herself she didn't want to ruin the story but watch instead as a fan and then maybe love would happen for her.
But instead of the heroine she knew and loved she was some one else... a plain girl who looked nothing like the colorful pretty heroine who she knew and loved. This girls name was Jessica.
THIS! IS WHERE IT GETS WEIRD!
One of the reasons Angel loved this anime was because the original heroine tried her best not to lead any one on and made a choice in the end of who she would marry but Jessica.... although acted similar to the original character... she would lead every one on and ended up cheating on all of them with eachother.
Now Angel, who loved the original story and characters wanted to protect them. She tried to show them who Jessica really was but... it blew up in her face and she was killed for being the "Villianess" by her favorite character.
Now this is the twist.....
When she wakes up again.... Angel is reborn as some one else... this time in her favorite manga. Reborn as the sister of the heroine. It was a completely different world with different characters but the original heroine in this story is once again Jessica and not the original MC.
Angel shocked to once again be in a different world and body tried to figure stuff out... but this type of thing would happen over and over again.
Angel would be killed and come back but into another story as some one else. Jessica would always be in those worlds as the MC.
Every life Angel tried some thing different but would always be killed in the end. Angel would run far away to avoid Jessica but some how Jessica would always find her and be the cause of eaither her misery or death. On Angel's 2nd life she tried to avoid Jessica and live her own life trying to ignore the story. Later on Angel married some one who had nothing to do with the story or Jessica. Angel cut off all contact with Jessica despite being "sisters." In this life. Eventually Angel lived passed the ending of the original story but one day she came home and found her husband in bed with Jessica. Jessica acted like she didn't know that he was married and began to blame Angel.
Everything went down hill from there. Every one was on Jessica's side. Even Jessica's flavor of the month despite being cheated on was on Jessica's side including Angel's husband.
After a year of battling depression and losing everything in the divorce Angel was killed while being mugged.
Once again she was reborn in a new life and this trend would continue. Jessica was always there and always won. No matter how hard Angel tried to avoid Jessica.... Jessica always came back. Even in the lives from shounen jump series... Jessica always took the place of the MC. Imagine being reborn into one piece only to find out Luffy is now a random girl named Jessica.
And in every life Angel's life was met with ruin. No matter who she ended up falling in love with or who she became... they would always choose Jessica in the end. She tried being Jessica's friend and would still end up dying tragically. She has even been reborn as male love interests and would lose everything.
Angel is now on her 28th life and has lost all hope. She despises Jessica for good reason but no one sees it her way. If she told any one (and she has in some of her previous lives.) They eaither die or she gets killed shortly after being told.
Angel knows 8 things at this point
Jessica can't be killed - no matter what Jessica is always saved by eaither a love interest or some dumb miracle like a coin dropping at the right time and stopping a bullet.
Jessica appears to have no memory of past lives - Angel having tested this theory many times, it always appears that Jessica has no memory of past events or even who Angel is.
No matter where Angel goes Jessica some how follows - Even if Angel goes half way around the world the original story will change making it so Jessica will be where ever Angel is.
Every one falls in love with Jessica especially if Angel has a relationship with them. - Even if Angel sides and falls in love with the villian they will some how fall in love with Jessica and become part of her harem completely changing the original story.
Angel has a strong memory - With living so many lives Angel remembers every single details. She has learned many different languages and strategies making her a genius with each passing life. The only thing she can't remember clearly is her original life.
Angel is always reborn as a baby
Jessica always looks the same and even has the same name but she doesn't always act the same - Jessica will always have the qualities of the original MC but will always string people along
If Angel talks about her past lives who ever she tells will eaither be killed or she will be killed shortly after. Angel has tried to tell Jessica as a way to kill Jessica but than Angel was killed instead.
At this point Angel has given up hope and wants to find out a way to break this curse. She no longer wants love or romance. She just wants peace and to never see Jessica ever again. She will even take death over living another miserable life.
This is all I have so far but I thought it was a really good idea and I loved picturing all the animes and manga being mixed together. I have the premise but have no idea how to make Angel come ontop when she has lost so many times.
Who is Jessica? Why is she always there? Who originally killed Angel? Was it Jessica? 🤔

Magical Knight Rayearth Book One
Magical Knight Rayearth Book One Review: A Fun and Nostalgic Shojo Tale. #Manga #Shojo #MagicalKnightRayearth #魔法騎士マジックナイトレイアース
Thanks again to Kodansha Comics and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this title. It’s my first review in a month, and we’re diving into one of the best Shojo titles in manga today, CLAMP’s Magic Knight Rayearth Part One: Book One. The Manga Review, 5/6/22
When it comes to manga commentary, I freely admit that I’m more of a reader than a listener. Mangasplaining, however, is helping change my mind about manga podcasts. Every week, Deb Aoki, David Brothers, Christopher Butcher, and Chip Zdarsky analyze manga old and new, from classic titles such as AKIRA to fan favorites such as Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku. The Mangasplainers are frequently joined by industry professionals for interesting conversations about translating, publishing, and creating manga; among their most recent guests were Jamila Rowser, founder of Black Josei Press, and Ken Niimura, a Spanish-Japanese artist best known for his work on I Kill Giants. Complementing the podcast is MSX: Mangasplaining Extra, a weekly newsletter written by Deb, Christopher, and Andrew Woodrow-Butcher that focuses on their newest venture: translating and publishing manga for North American readers.
NEWS AND FEATURES
Deb Aoki offers an in-depth look at the North American manga market. Though global supply issues have made it more difficult to bring readers their favorite series in print, manga sales reached a record high in 2021. As VIZ Media’s Kevin Hamric observes, “Manga is no longer a niche category. It is now a mainstream/mass category.” [Publisher’s Weekly]
Free Comic Book Day is tomorrow! Several manga publishers will have kid- and teen-friendly titles, from VIZ’s Pokémon Journeys to Tokyopop’s Guardian of Fukushima, a graphic novel about Naoto Matsumura, a farmer who defied government orders by returning to Fukushima to save his animals. [Free Comic Book Day]
Cat lovers take note: Daisuke Igarashi just launched a new series called Kamakura Bakeneko Kurabu, which translates roughly to Kamakura Monster Cat Club. [Anime News Network]
On Wednesday, Seven Seas unveiled four new manga licenses: Gap Papa: Daddy at Work and at Home, The Knight Blooms Behind Castle Walls, My Sister The Cat, and No Longer Human… In Another World, “a dark comedy starring a famous historical writer who would honestly rather die than live out an isekai fantasy.” [Seven Seas]
Tezuka Productions recently launched an English-language Twitter feed. [Twitter]
Megan Thee Stallion has impeccable taste in anime. [Black Girl Nerds]

Good news for yuri manga fans: Erica Friedman’s By Your Side: The First 100 Years of Yuri Anime and Manga is now available for pre-order. Sam Sattin chats with Masha Zhdanova about his latest project: a reboot of Osamu Tezuka’s Unico. “Unico in particular I found to be a fascinating character who is often misunderstood,” Sattin observes. “Unico was created for children, but like many of Tezuka’s child-oriented fables, the character’s story is complex, emotional, and chock full of meaning… In it, I see an amazing story that could simultaneously serve a new generation of readers and honor Osamu Tezuka’s work.” [Women Write About Comics]
Jeff Trexler, the Interim Director of CBLDF, sounds a cautionary note about Free Comic Book Day, noting that retailers need to be vigilant about which books they give away, and to whom. “The new comic’s code is an algorithm,” Trexler observes. “What people are trying to do is not simply the fact that they’re trying to get retailers arrested or school teachers arrested or librarians arrested. They recognize in the age of Twitter, you don’t have to do that. All you have to do is get them shamed or banned. You can mass swarm a retailer and report them to Facebook or Twitter for selling pornography.” [ICv2]

Manga Master List: Recommendations and My Personal Wish List
!!//PLEASE READ//!!
Below is every manga from my amazon wishlist I would recommend(as of February 11 2021) with a picture and a 3-5 sentence explanation of what the manga is about. Underneath will also be the number of volumes I have read, the number I own, and it’s status of ongoing or complete and how many volumes it has. This way you can decide for yourself if you think I have read enough of it to give an accurate recommendation.
This list only includes manga you can purchase (including digital purchases) from the wishlist. I decided that I would in fact include my personal amazon manga wishlist here and at the bottom for people to buy THEMSELVES a copy of any of these manga they would like. Keep in mind many of these won’t have volume 1 in the list but you should be able to get to the series page from the list. If a manga shows up on the amazon list that I did not include in this one that is because I have not read enough of them(or any of them) to recommend. Ok? Cool, enjoy the list!!

1. The Girl from the Other side is about a little girl living with a gentleman monster. It is a supernatural mystery with beautiful art.
Own: 0
Read 4
Series: Ongoing at 9 volumes
Tumblr media
2. Pumpkin Scissors is a military fantasy about a War Veteran named Randal Oland who joins the pumpkin scissors core to help with war relief and uncover the deep corruption of the government. It is similar in themes to FMA in the sense it appears to be based on a World War, and corruption of government but it more focused on the power of the noble houses in government. There is also a fun science element but it is not as in focus as in FMA. The two but are very very different overall tho. Only 5 volumes were distributed in physical English copies as the publishing company went bankrupt, all others are only available digitally. (I couldn’t get the manga vol. 1 cover to work so the picture above is a poster for the anime)

Read: around 10
Series: Ongoing at 23 volumes
Tumblr media
3. Monthly Girls Nozaki-kun is a slice of life about a bunch of highschoolers. Nozaki is the mangaka of a popular Shoujo manga who uses his personal experiences with friends to create his monthly comic series. It is a fun gender stereotype reversal manga with a large cast of both male and female characters (one could be HC as genderfluid but she’s still canonically female at this time) The manga is one of the easiest to read as the panels are mostly in straight down rectangles so the pages are extremely easy to follow and is very funny.

Read: 11
Status: Ongoing at 12 volumes
Tumblr media
4. Yu-Gi-Oh! is well known to be about the card game yu-gi-oh, using magic and myths to further the story, HOWEVER, Yu-gi-oh! is the “Season 0″ of the series it is much darker than to be expected and there is no card game. The Yu-gi-oh most are familiar with is Yu-gi-oh Duelist (just found this out myself) and is the Yu-gi-oh you probably already know. There is no overarching plot to this mini series it is just Yugi fucking shit up playing games and destroying some bullies. I have yet to read any of Duelist as of the creation of this post therefore I cannot recommend it :/
Own: 5 (1-3 & 6-7)

Status: Completed at 7 volumes

5. The Way of the House Husband is about a former yakuza who gets married and flips his script. He becomes a house husband for his working wife and carries on doing chores and errands while still looking and acting scary unintentionally and getting himself in trouble. It is a slice of life comedy with some adult jokes but is over all extremely funny and pleasant to read.

Read: 2
Status: Ongoing at 7 volumes
Tumblr media
6. Hikaru no Go is about a highschool boy who finds a haunted Go board. He meets the ghost who once was a prolific Go player. Together they work to become a world class Go champion meeting new people along the way. This series was cut short due to legal issues with a real Go player and therefore will remain unfinished but the story that is there is golden. It is still one of the most popular manga in Japan.

Read: 5
Status: Complete at 23 Volumes

7. Zatch Bell! This manga is about a teenager named Kiyo who gets sent a young boy with amnesia named Zatch Bell who turns out to be an alien called a momodo. Now the two must battle other momodo in order to understand what happened to Zatch and to make Zatch the new king. Along the way they make many friends and save both the momodo and human worlds. This one is difficult because it is a classic that did not do well in America so the volumes are expensive and the series is unfinished in English. You can only buy 27 of the volumes in English and a few of them are almost impossible to find, however it is well worth the money if you can afford it and it is available online.
Own: 6 (1-5 & 13)
Read: 15
Status: Complete at 33 Volumes only 27 printed in English (you can finish series online)
Tumblr media
8. Fullmetal Alchemist is a cult classic most have read it, watched the series, or heard of it at the very least. This is one of the most popular Manga of all time and for good reason. The manga is about 2 brothers Alphonse and Edward on a journey to return their bodies to normal after committing the taboo of human transmutation. The manga has themes of racism, government corruption and manipulation of the military. The versions on my wishlist are the special Fullmetal Editions so they will have a different price point and volume number than the regular volumes or the omnibuses’
Own: 12
Read: 12
Status: Complete at 27 Volumes

9. Princess Jellyfish is about a young woman who is sort of an outcast otaku living with 5 other otaku women. She has a deep love for jellyfish as they remind her of her late mother. She meets a beautiful woman who turns out to be a male college student and slowly comes out of her shell making new friends and growing with old ones as well. This manga is very sweet and I really don’t know what else to say haha.

Status: Complete at 17 volumes

10. !!!HUGE TW FOR EATING DISORDERS!!! In Clothes Called Fat is a, oneshot, non romanticizing story of an office woman trying to lose weight and developing several eating disorders in the process. She goes through hardships in relationships and bullying as well. It has a bittersweet ending and should be read with caution but it is beautifully done. Please do not read this if you are under the age 16 at the very youngest there are NSFW moments as well as just generally not being a topic for younger audiences.
Own: No
Read: Yes
Status: Completed one shot

11. My LOVE Story!! Is an adorable Slice of Life shojo about a highschooler named Takeo Gouda, his girlfriend Yamato, and his best friend and hear throb Suna. This series is rather refreshing as the relationship starts pretty much immediately, the best friend is very supportive, and it is focused on Takeo’s personality over looks as he is often compared in manga to a gorilla or bear. It is a generally heart warming story with some emotional side plots. The ending is sort of sudden but it’s really enjoyable.
Own: 6 (1-3,8,10-12)
Read: 13
Status: Completed at 13 Volumes
Tumblr media
12. Soul Eater is pretty popular but if you don’t know what it is about it is about a Weapon named Soul and his Meister Maka. They attend a school that teaches them how to defeat people before they turn into Demons, saving the world in the process. Once a weapon eats 100 evil souls and a witches soul they can become the new death Scythe! That is the plot presented, and it of course goes off into a much more complicated storyline. It is super fun and engaging with a fascinating plot near the end.
Own: 5
Read: 15
Status: Completed at 25 Volumes
Tumblr media
13. D. Gray-Man is a little complicated. Similarly to Soul Eater D. Gray-Man is a story based around defeating people turned demon and the saving of the world through an organization, however the plot gets very complicated very quickly. The art is some of the most interesting and beautifully fun art I’ve come across and the characters are (so far as I’ve read) all amazing. The story has a lot of christian influence and is one you have to really keep up with to understand but I recommend it regardless!
Own: 10
Read: 10
Status: Ongoing at 27 Volumes
Tumblr media
14. One-Punch Man is also very popular and is about a man who becomes so strong he only needs to punch you once to completely annihilate you, and it greatly annoys him. This manga greatly touches on the themes of self worth as Saitama becomes a hero that no one seems to want. The fights are fun and engaging, tho at times can be difficult to read. The art is gorgeous, with some of the most heavily detailed work I have ever seen.
Own: 3
Read: 7
Status: Ongoing at 21 Volumes
Tumblr media
15. The Boy and The Beast is the manga adaptation of the movie by the same name. This is a bittersweet story about a boy who finds a family in the land of the beasts and the repercussions of this intermixing. It is sweet and sad and there’s not much else to say, but that it is a beautifully crafted story.
Own: 1
Read: 1 (but I’ve seen the movie and read the light novel)
Status: Complete at 4 Volumes
Tumblr media
16. MAR is not a manga I should be recommending as I genuinely don’t think I have read enough of the story to do so but I love it so much I’m going to anyway. MAR is a classic Isekai Shonen, a kid goes through a door into another world and has to fight a war to save it, there is a super fun magic system and some wonderful story building with genuinely enjoyable characters and battles. I am recommending this more based off the anime than the manga itself because it was one of my absolute favorites when I was younger, so take from that what you will! This manga has the same issue Zatch Bell does however, the series did not do amazingly so the volumes can be expensive!
Own: 3
Read: 3
Status: Complete at 15 Volumes
Thank you for your time haha! I hope you liked the list, here is my wishlist again and if you have any questions please let me know!! I will try to keep this master list updated as it and the wishlist will only continue to grow, but I make no promises for doing it often. Making this took me a very long time so I hope you like it!

The Villainess x The Heroine?!
Go watch (or read) My Next Life as a Villainess!!!
I first started reading the manga and I remember even reading it during class because I just go absorbed in it so much! This is finally a breath of fresh air for the isekai genre made for women and I’m so happy it got an anime!!
Now I’m just rambling from here on, but honestly shojo manga and anime often get overshadowed and there’s this belief that only greasy otake men can watch anime, and I hate that soooo much!!!
Shojo anime is an escape for many women and it needs more attention! Look at Fruits Basket for example! One of the best anime EVER MADE, not just the “best shojo anime”, but the best ANIME in general.
Ugh, I love shojo...

Binge-Watching: Ore Monogatari, Episodes 1-3
And so we begin! In which I gush over one of my favorite genres, Takeo is the gentlest of giants, and Sunakawa provokes a discussion of what it should mean to be a man.
MY CHEEKS HURT
You know what doesn’t get enough attention in today’s anime landscape? Adaptations of shojo romance manga. Amid all the various genres and demographics that proliferate the medium- shonen jump, isekai, light novel adaptations, Webtoons, even the rare mecha anime still clinging on for dear life- it feels like shojo anime have pretty much gone dormant since Kimi ni Todoke back at the start of the decade. And that’s a criminal shame, because when done well, this genre makes me happy like nothing else does. Yes, I’m a self-professed romantic slut, but the spirit of shojo is in more than the romance. It’s the belief in the inherent goodness of ordinary people, how these stories portray loving worlds grounded in the realities of basic human empathy, where mostly everyone does their best for each other because most people aren’t built to be at war with each other all the time. Shojo anime are the kinds of anime I wish I could live in, hanging out with these characters and their relationships over the course of an ordinary, extraordinary life. And I actually didn’t realize Ore Monogatari was based on a shojo manga until well into the first couple episodes when I realized, “Wait a second, what other genre would handle a train molester scenario with this much tact and kindness?” Once I realized, though? The rest was history.
Yes, folks, we’ve finally got another show on this blog that I think I’m going to whole-heartedly love. Ore Monogatari won me effortlessly from pretty much the first few scenes and only got better from there. God, everything about this show just makes me so fucking happy. The OP is adorable! The characters are adorable! Their relationships are adorable! The animation is gorgeous (Courtesy of Madhouse and their deep appreciation for thickly textured, lived-in production design)! And what’s more, the story instantly bypassed by one real issue with shojo anime; the endless will-they-won’t-they. No ridiculously contrived scenarios to keep the inevitable from happening this time around; Takeo and Yamato are officially together before the end of episode 3, and there don’t seem to be any signs of them breaking up. So not only do we finally have another legitimately great shojo on our hands, we have a legitimately great shojo that fixes the genre’s biggest flaw right from the outset and gets right to the gooey couple adorableness. The only thing that could make this show more my speed is if one of the side characters is a girl who could easily kick my ass. What a wonderful time to be alive.
Fairytale Prince
For the moment, though, Ore Monogatari’s focus is very compact. The only real characters we’ve met are Takeo, Yamata and Sunakawa, with camoes from a couple of their parents and teachers. This tight focus lets the show develop them all fabulously, to the point they feel almost fully fleshed out already. And my god, what an absolutely lovable set of dorks they are. The protagonist Takeo, in particular, is one of the most endearingly earnest male romantic leads I’ve ever seen in anime. He’s a big softie who cries when he’s emotional, has great relationships with his middle school kouhai, and throws himself into being a good person with the intensity and stoicism of a samurai on a mission for his shogun. No matter how many times it lands him in trouble, (”Yesterday, I got reported to the cops.”) or how overbearing he accidentally ends up being (”Personal space, dude.”), or how much of his own happiness he has to leave aside, he’s 100% committed to helping the people he cares about. It’s a blast to watch him throw himself so passionately into doing the right thing, even when he has to turn on the hulking rage to punish someone who deserves to get some justice knocked into them: Being good is something he puts his whole heart and soul into, and I love seeing the good he puts into the world just by virtue of not half-assing anything. No matter how much it hurts, his heart is always in the right place.
And that actually gives this opening arc a real sense of pathos. Because he’s kind of a big, scary hulk, he tends to give the wrong impression with his intensity, and he hasn’t exactly been lucky in love as a result. All the female attention goes to the aloof pretty boy Sunawara, even the girls Takeo’s crushing on. At this point, he’s accepted that he’s just not gonna be lucky with girls. So when Yamata enters his life and shows even the slightest hint of maybe being into Sunakawa, he instantly decides that 1) She must be crushing on him like everyone on else, and 2) No matter how sad that makes him, he’s going to be the best damn wingman he can possibly be. He’s constantly assailed with his developing attraction to Yamata, but he never lets that conflict show; if he really loves Yamata and wants to make her happy, then the right thing to do is help her get together with the person she’s in love with. ”Well, I got some cake, and it was delicious,” he says, “so it’s okay.” As long as he can still be a part of her life, then he can find the strength to do what he believes to be the right thing. But it’s clear that his feelings for Yamata aren’t just some crush he can shove down and ignore. Even when he’s literally starting to get crushed to death under a falling beam, he’s still trying to convince himself that going for the beam instead of Yamata was the right choice, because at least this way, she’ll be alright. You just feel so sorry for the guy; he’s such a great dude, and he’s completely unable to have faith in himself because of all his bad experiences.
Of course, because Takeo’s gotten used to Sunakawa always coming out on top in these situations, he’s completely unable to see the obvious signs that he’s the one Yamata’s in love with (Let’s be real, most girls don’t text “It’s a beautiful day!” as a Good Morning message to the best friend of the guy they’re crushing on). And oh my fucking god, I adore this fucking disaster. She’s a flustered bundle of nerves and shyness (”Actually, am I creepy for showing up out of nowhere?!”), but she’s just as intense as Takeo in her own way. Whether it’s running after him so hard she breaks into a thick sweat, throwing her all into making sweets and cakes for him and filling them with little prizes, bursting into mutual tears with him over what a great fucking guy Sunakawa is, or trying to lift the goddamn concrete beam with him (”I’m... actually... pretty strong... myself!”), she’s just as committed as him to throwing herself 100% into whatever she’s doing, no matter how panicked or flustered it makes her. Even when Takeo’s ignorance makes her cry, she doesn’t want to give up on him, and she breaks through her shame to shout over and over again about how much the loves him. He may be about double her size, but they’re nevertheless perfect for each other. Two adorable, earnest idiots who treat doing the right thing as their lifelong mission, and they’re already officially a couple. God, I can’t wait to spend more time with them.
All Hail the Blue Ogre
And yet, hilariously enough, my favorite character so far isn’t either of the leads; it’s Sunakwa. The show actually sets up a really good intrigue with him in the early episodes; why does a gentle, loving giant like Takeo get along so well with someone who seems, well, kind of a jackass? The answer, it turns out, is because Suna is the literal personification of the Bro Code. Ever since they were friends in childhood, Suna has always had Takeo’s back, even when he had to make himself look stupid to do so. He helped Takeo out of trouble, he shared in his embarrassment, he was there for him every step of the way. And most importantly, the reason he was always so blunt and nasty in turning girls down? It’s because he knew that all of those girls were saying mean things about Takeo behind his back. And what kind of self-respecting man would go out with someone who talks crap about their friend? Christ, the moment that bomb dropped, I was sorry I ever doubted him. The aloof pretty boy who gets all the girls ended up being just as much a hilarious do-gooder as the other two. Even as Takeo’s 100% committing to being Suna’s wingman, Suna’s just as committed to helping Yamata and Takeo end up together. He’s the blue ogre of the classic fairy tale through and through, happily falling on whatever swords he needs to so that his friend can be happy.
Actually, now that I think about it, the way Sunakawa and Takeo’s friendship plays out is kind of a wonderful portrayal of masculinity. So many stories fall back on regressive ideas of what it means to “be a man,” especially in anime. But in Ore Monogatari, whenever someone talks about what it means to “be a man,” it’s always in regards to something that men should be. When Takeo’s clobbering the gross train molester, he explicitly calls him a “pathetic excuse for a man” because of his predatory actions. He also says “that’s what a real man does” when he commits to being Suna’s wingman and not pressuring Yamata with his own feelings. And Suna’s own desire to see Takeo happy is described as manly as well, as something that men and friend are just supposed to do: be happy for the people they care about and work to do right by them. Suna doesn’t even have to angst over it, he just takes it as a given that Takeo’s happiness is important to him, because, well, why wouldn’t it be? If they’re friends, it only makes sense they’d want the best for each other, without jealousy or pettiness or competitiveness getting in the way. And Takeo, for his part, is constantly complimenting Suna for his attractiveness, showing no shame about admiring a platonic friend in such an openly sincere way. (”Girls, this is what he looks like when he smiles.”) Time and again, the male characters in this show talk about masculinity as a positive force, something that’s meant to be used for kindness and compassion and building each other up instead of tearing each other down. It’s a masculinity that doesn’t seek to shut down emotions, but embrace and celebrate them. And it’s all baked right into the foundation of who these characters are and the way the show wants you to think about them. We need more portrayals of masculinity like this, in anime and everywhere else. If more boys were raised to be like Takeo and Sunakawa, the world would be a batter place.
Odds and Ends
-Holy shit he was even cuter as a kid
-There’s a lot of good uses of flashbacks in the first episode that flow with the action instead of disrupting it. I like it.
-”He ignored me?” HIS FUCKING FACE ASKJDHASKJDH
-Hold on, Takeo’s VA also voiced Julius from Re:Zero?! Good lord, the range.
-”I’m pretty sure you don’t bake them with your hands.” Lol, these manga splashes are hilarious.
-”Yep. Whenever I look at this tree, I see an ass.” sdkhsdfjhsdf what
-”Oh hey, it’s a guy’s ass! Why didn’t I notice that before?” what is this show
-”When I think about date planning, it’s a drag.” Honestly, I feel that.
-”THEY’RE MOVING AROUND!” He’s so enthusiastic oh my GOD
-”Sumo wrestler, huh? I’m flattered.” pfft
-”Takeo, you’re walking into a telephone pole.” I’m losing my shit help
-”Takeo, you’re stuck.” I’M LOSING MY SHIT HELP
-”BECAUSE YOU’RE ATTRACTIVE!” “...thanks, man.” I’m fucking dying
-he’s too big to fit under the bed askdjhaskjdhaskjdh
-Okay, the confession scene was wonderful, but then Suga just slipping back into his earphones in the foreground left me in stiches. Fuck me, I love him.
And with that, we’re on our way! God, this is gonna be a good November. See you next time!

My Reincarnation Isekai Villainess Rec List
So.  I’ve gone and found myself in Isekai/Reincarnation/Villainess hell.  For those who don’t know Isekai is a genre in which character(s) are transported to a different world.  Initially you might be thinking “oh, she’s gonna share a both a series like Sword Art Online.”  Oh no.  You have underestimated the amount of taste I have.  By which I mean I have none but that SOA is a taste I’m not here for.
Now a very specific sub-genre of that is the reincarnation one, particularly in which a character is reborn as a character from one of their favorite books or games from their previous, modern life.  An even more specific sub-genre of that one is in which the MC is reborn as a villainess from that book or game, thus creating a bit of a challenge as villainesses usually are destined to die in the source material.
So! Here are my favorites, many of which are all 3 but some combine one or two of the above tropes.  It’s my list so I do what I want.  And most of my faves have a shojo genre tag, or at least a romance tag, because that’s where all the good stuff is:
-
Survive as the Hero’s Wife by Nokki
Canaria is reincarnated as the villainess of a popular cliche novel. Based on the novel, she is destined to be executed but can she prevent this from happening before it’s too late?
Tumblr media
Why *I* like it:  So this one was the one that really got me into the villainess reincarnation isekai genre!  And it remains the top of my list. The huge draw for me in this one is that I actually really like the main couple!  Like not even just lukewarm, I really like it!  I’d read fic for it, if that existed.  A lot of the villainess genre tend to portray the original heroine as vapid, unworthy of their status of heroine, or the actual villainess but in this case Gracie just turns out to be just an amazing strong woman who doesn’t actually need a man.  (In fact I ship the three together full stop tbh lol).  In fact, it’s a subplot that Gracie realizes (because of MC’s words) that if she wants to inherit her father’s title even though the law says a woman cannot... That she just should strive to change the law rather than be a tool with no use outside of marriage.   And not to spoil anything, but she will definitely do just that.
And since I’m mainly finishing the rough draft of this list out of absolute RAGE at being made fun of for being into this genre.... A compilation of the main love interest, Cesar, because he’s absolutely beautiful.  Look at those eyes!  He’s such a great example of the sullen, dark love interest because he’s not those things when he’s with his wife, the MC!!!  He’s so soft for her.  And the whole point is that the love interest shows a different side to their lover right??
Tumblr media
And like the great thing is Canaria, the MC, totally doesn’t notice for the longest time.  She read the novel in her previous life so she’s *convinced* that one day Cesar will fall for the novel’s original leading woman, and she makes plans accordingly throughout their early days of their marriage.  She completely hadn’t thought about the fact that since she’s not being a villainess this time around and not abusing him and everyone around her, and makes friends with Cesar... Like of course the course of events change.  It utterly baffles Cesar when his wife keeps bringing up divorce because he’s so completely in love with her and you just gotta eat that shit up with a spoon because it’s so good and perfect drama but also funny.
There’s even a Halloween chapter where everyone wears costumes and basically I believe I was pandered to specifically.
Tumblr media
Tbh, the arc going atm is sorta losing my interest but that’s because there’s political intrigue and I’m like just here for the romance lmao.  So someone looking for substance and not just fluff might be more pleased than I. But it’s still on-going so.  It’s just all in all a fun and great introduction to the genre imo.

I Reincarnated into an Otome Game as a Villainess With Only Destruction Flags by Hidaka Nami (Art) and Yamaguchi Satoru (Story)
Eight-year-old Katarina Claes is the only daughter of a duke, living her life peacefully and without incident until she hits her head on a rock... and then remembers that she is not actually the duke's daughter. She used to be an otaku who died on her way to school after spending the entire previous night playing Fortune Lover, her favorite otome game. After noticing that her current surroundings seem oddly familiar, she is shocked to discover that she has been reincarnated into the world of Fortune Lover as the villainess.
The villainess in the game usually winds up dead or exiled, so Katarina decides to use her knowledge of the game and its routes to avoid any bad situations. But is it even possible for the villainess to reach a good ending?
Tumblr media
Why *I* like it:  Ok ok ok, lol. So this one is probably one of the most well-known of the villainess reincarnation isekai genre atm!  Particularly because of the anime currently running.  And for good reason... the MC is so brilliantly stupid in the best of ways.  While she plots on how to escape her fate of being killed or exiled by learning to sword fight and how to garden, she’s more or less seduced every capture target in this dating game... AND all the female rivals to boot AND heroine.  The thing is that she is completely unaware and continues training for the day she is inevitably killed or exiled, as per the game’s original ending.
Tumblr media
It’s just a silly, fun series and all the women’s feelings for her are taken about as seriously as all the guys’... Which isn’t much because absolutely no one really has a chance of getting this woman to understand they are all madly in love with her.  Not a series to take seriously which is part of it’s charm, but it retains a lot of heart especially when it comes to the MC Katarina (affectionally called Bakarina by fandom) remembering her friend and family from her past life.
This series also has a manga spin-off about what if she’d been reincarnated while already in high school and bullying the heroine instead of a child... So basically she’s in hard mode, and yet she still succeeds in getting even more people into her little harem she has for herself.
Whether you chose to watch the anime or the manga (or the LN, which I haven’t got to) you can’t go wrong.

It Seems Like I Got Reincarnated Into The World of a Yandere Otome Game by  Hanaki, Momiji (Story) and Setsuri (Art)
As a precocious child, Lycoris suffers from a strange sense of deja vu. On the day her father told her about her fiancé, she realizes that her fiancé was a character from an otome game she once played in a previous life.
“I am the heroine’s rival from the game?
And in the bad ending, I get stabbed to death?
What a joke.”
A story in which the protagonist is determined to avoid a yandere situation.
Tumblr media
Why *I* like it: Hear me out! I know what you’re thinking... Yanderes??? But here’s the thing...  Just by the MC being kind and getting 2 of the “yandere” characters out of abusive environments, they no longer end up as yanderes as they grow up.   They aren’t those tropes any more!  While the characters remain protective, they aren’t possessive and are happy to see MC branch out, if a little lonely.  And the yandere that remain aren’t treated as hot, but annoying.   So like sorry to disappoint if you think yanderes are hot but this isn’t the series for you.
Additionally, unlike other series of this trope, the MC is pretty quick to realize she just needs to trust her lover, that he will not turn on her and kill her as he did in the game nor will he fall for the heroine instead of her.  It’s somewhat refreshing, as a huge part of the trope is the MC typically doesn’t realize until it’s spelled out that by not acting as a villain.... the rest of the characters don’t want to harm them... And might even have fallen in love with them.
Another fun aspect is how MC doesn’t remember things immediately, but only remembers things from her past life (and of how the game went) until it comes up.  Additionally, she wonders some interesting things that aren’t even mentioned in other series like... What if she’s destined to be exactly like the game character? Will she be forced to be exactly like her? It’s a fun exploration of some common reincarnation isekai villainess tropes if you have experience with the genre!

Ascendance of a Bookworm by Shiina You (Art) and Kazuki Miya (Story)
A book-loving student and soon to be librarian ends up crushed to death by the pile of books during an earthquakes and wakes up as a five year old girl named Main in another world where books are scarce only available to the elite.  Main, retaining her memories of her past life, decides to create and print her own books so she can read again.
Tumblr media
Why *I* like it:  So here is we depart from solely the villainess sub-genre (but only briefly!)  Because there is another sub-genre of reincarnation isekai and that’s in which the MC uses the things they learned on our planet earth to re-invent things like shampoo and the printing press.  And no other isekai does it better than Ascendance of a Bookworm imo. Main’s love for books leads her to recreating things she took for granted on Earth and starts selling them from a young age... Which might just end up saving her life as she ends up having a terminal disease that ordinarily she’d only be able to survive by being a slave to a noble... But by selling her products she has a chance to save herself!!!  And the products she creates are available to commoners, not just the nobles who of course make it impossible for the poor to have nice things.
Additionally, a majority of this trope centers around nobles and royalty (and all the best ones are historical settings)... The fun thing about this one is that it actually centers around a povert stricken family.  It’s a good break from the noble hierarchy within most isekai.
Finally, this series is the one that hits most closely to my feelings if I were to be reincarnated in another world... Which is to cry at the realization that I will never finish any of the on-going books and manga I had going on.  That’s absolute hell, I don’t know how any of these MCs deal!! ;_;
btw there is an anime and manga both. Also LN but tbh almost all of these have LN.

Isekai Omotenashi Gohan by  Shinobumaru (Story) and Medamayaki (Art)
Akane, an ordinary office lady, gets summoned to a different world along with her younger sister and pet dog. There, she ends up treating rare guests one after another with hospitality through meals!! Can she satisfy the citizens of a different world with home cooking...?!
Tumblr media
Why *I* like it:   Continuing our brief deviation from the villainess trope, Isekai Omotenashi Gohan is my favorite example of another subgenre of isekai - one without reincarnation - but one in which a “hero” is transmigrated to another world to save it... The problem? Oppsie, 2 people were taken.  Sometimes in this sub-genre there is a question who the true savior is but in Isekai Omotenashi Gohan’s case they figure that out pretty quickly.  They quickly figure out the MC’s younger sister is the savior.  At first the older sister (Akane) is set aside as unimportant... But her sister only wants to eat the food her sister makes and it quickly becomes obvious that Akane’s role is important.
Akane makes lots of allies and friends by sharing the food from Japan and of course has a very subtle romance going on with her guard.  But honestly I just enjoy this series as a person that likes food manga, like that’s it lmao, so much so that don’t be surprised when I make a best food manga list and yeah sorry Food Wars won’t be on it.
But fr, even if you don’t love the food manga genre try it!! It’s a sweet series and mixes domestic with fantasy in a great way.  Plus only a few series are complete, with the rest being on-going, so if you want a complete and finished series try this one!

The Duke's Fiancee, Why She Had to Go to the Duke by Milcha (Story) and Golae (Art)
When Park Eunha dies in modern-day Korea, she awakens in the body of Raeliana McMillan, the eldest daughter of a nouveaux riche baron. However, this is no ordinary world; it's the exact same one as a novel she once read. Beloved by her family, it would seem as though she is in a fairy tale. But Raeliana is far from the main character—she is a mere plot device, whose murder at the hands of her fiancé instigates the entire story.
Raeliana has no intention to accept her fate quietly. She sets her eyes on someone in a position of great power—the vieux riche male protagonist Duke Noah Volstaire Wynknight—aiming to completely change the original story. Using her knowledge of future events, Raeliana offers information to Noah on the condition that he acts as her fake fiancé, but the Duke's two-faced nature throws a wrench in her plans!
Tumblr media
Why *I* like it:  This one is a fun one!! It really plays with different concepts that don’t often get explored in reincarnation isekai like where did the original consciousness of the character the MC became go??? Because MC only remembers her life on earth and is otherwise treated as though she has amnesia.... But is it amnesia?  Is she another person entirely?
Also the humor is... great.  Listen I refuse to give the best joke in the series just to make you read it but... the series is worth it just for this running joke.
Of course the romance is good too. The dude is kinda an asshole but she gives as good as he dishes out and it quickly becomes flirting anyway.  I don’t want to say too much and give any thing away... but s’good!

Who Made Me a Princess? by Plutus (Story) and Spoon (Art)
The beautiful Athanasia was killed at the hands of her own biological father, Claude de Alger Obelia, the cold-blooded emperor! It’s just a silly bedtime story… until one woman wakes up to suddenly find she’s become that unfortunate princess! She needs a plan to survive her doomed fate, and time is running out. Will she go with Plan A, live as quietly as possible without being noticed by the infamous emperor? Plan B, collect enough money to escape the palace? Or will she be stuck with Plan C, sweet-talking her way into her father’s good graces?!
Tumblr media
Why *I* like it:  Ok, big sigh.  How do I explain the pull ‘Who Made Me A Princess?’ has on me?  Now a lot of the pull for many people is how cute the budding father daughter relationship the MC (Athy) has with her dad.  But like, her dad is the worst and I want to fight him.  On the other hand, most of the fandom hates Jeanette, the MC’s sister who has done literally nothing wrong except make everyone around her miserable but it’s not her fault ok, and I’ll fight the entire fandom in her honor.  So it pains me to rec this series knowing that more than likely anyone who picks up this series because of me might have Wrong Opinions and I invite you to tell me just so I can shake my head about another wrong person existing in this world.
Never the less, this series is very cute!  All the other series I have recced had the MC remember their past life at early childhood at the earliest, if not as a teenager.  Athy? She has the misfortune to remember as a *baby* and it’s exactly as hellish as it sounds for an adult to be stuck growing up as a baby and suffer through the absolute embarrassment of having people feed and wipe her ass.
The MC was an orphan in her previous life and the book that she wakes up in is a shitty book even by her standards but then she really only skimmed it it sounds like that’s what interests me.  As Athy makes changes to the original events of the novel and depth is added to the world, I start to wonder if the added depth was in the original novel or if the world had to add its own depth to stand as an actual lived in world?
Additionally, since I made the cover image Athy and her dad you might as well see her with her 2 love interests (and Jeanette!).  People need to know who to ship, I get it.
Tumblr media
Also I need a moment to appreciate, up close, the beauty of Athy’s eyes. So gorgeous.

Living as the Tyrant’s Older Sister by Aperta (Story) and Chyobab (Art)
When I opened my eyes, I was inside a fantasy novel world! The beauty I see in front of the mirror is the future tyrant’s older sister, Alicia! She’s not even a protagonist or an antagonist, but a character that doesn’t appear much and gets beheaded by the (upcoming) tyrant little brother. My life is all about escaping that fate from the novel. In the end, I seduced the male lead’s merchant friend who also doesn’t appear much and was about to leave the country with him. How-e-ver. The face of the man who spent the night with me was extraordinary, and was the male lead himself!
Tumblr media
Why *I* like it:   ……………...keke. Ok so this one is one I like just for the laughs.  The love interest is an arrogant asshole, but see… The important detail the summary leaves out is that the MC’s… cousin (?) wrote the book that she woke up in!  Moreover she’s the one that told her cousin to change the MC of her novel and make him good at everything and also make him a freak in the sack.  Like who is really at fault here??? Lmao.  Especially when she goes out intending to seduce a character she remembers being rich from the novel and accidentally bags the MC from the novel, aka the dude who kills her and her brother in the original novel.
In seriousness though, it really is funny.  The facial expressions of the MC is just… chefs kiss.  She’s got a pretty face but then she makes all these goof ass faces and I love it.  If you need any more reason to at least give it a go, just know that at one point the male lead comes to check on her, expecting to find her crying and instead…. Walks in just as she screams FUCK at the top of her lungs and then begins a tirade of very creative curses including "Bitch oompa loompa ass bitch" which how can you not love her?  Anyway the face the male lead makes after that has me maintaining that’s the moment he fell in love with her lmao.. but this is not Confirmed so it’s not a spoiler!!
Tumblr media
EDIT: as of August 2020, I’ve since dropped this series. It remains on the list since I’d still rec it to people looking for a laugh.

Seduce the Villain’s Father by bia and dalseul
Upon opening my eyes after a bus accident, I found myself in the fantasy world of a webnovel I enjoyed reading... the only catch is, I reincarnated 20 years before the novel begins! Reborn as Princess Yerenica of the small Lebovny kingdom, I'm determined to change the future in order to prevent the series of unfortunate events that will soon occur!
Tumblr media
Why *I* like it:   How many times have you yourself had a suuuuuper side character be your favorite in a series and be depressed to see them done dirty?  Well MC has a chance to fix that, to save a character that basically one appeared in prologue and basically prevent the birth of the villain character that later kills his own father… by seducing his dad, before he can marry the villainess!!
Yerenica is just adorable in her attempts to thwart the original novel.  And like, I have to give her lots of respect for seeing the villainess character and having herself a good moment where she had to consider seducing her instead lmao.  She knows when to let well enough alone though so she immediately boards back on the dad train, much to his chagrin because she keeps calling him father……………….. Even though he’s like…. Not a dad yet.
The characters are still relatively early on in their romance, but I have high hopes for it yet!
Edit: As of August 2020, I’ve dropped this series.  It remains on this list because I think it’s a cute series and I think anyone who feels really strongly about the main couple will enjoy it.

Death Is the Only Ending For The Villainess by Gwon Gyeoeul and SUOL
Penelope Eckart reincarnated as the adopted daughter of Duke Eckart and the villainess of a reverse harem dating sim. The problem is, she entered the game at its hardest difficulty, and no matter what she does, death awaits her at every ending! Before the "real daughter" of Duke Eckart appears, she must choose one of the male leads and reach a happy ending in order to survive. But the two brothers always pick a fight with her over every little thing, as well as a crazy crown prince, whose routes all lead to death. There's even a magician who's enamoured with the female lead, and a loyal slave knight! But somehow, the favourability meters of the male leads increase the more she crosses the line with them!
Tumblr media
Why *I* like it:   So this one is another relatively new one added to my list, but it’s shot high up rather quickly!!  The other otome game isekai’s that I have on my list are just like the real world, but the interesting thing about this one, is that it also retains otome game mechanics such as she can see the love interests love meter and also she can chose to use the video game script choices to reply to the characters, in the hopes of raising their love meter.  This adds challenge, since she knows that if she gets any of the dudes to -10 she’ll be killed even as she sort of wonders if she truly would die or wake back up in reality.
What’s interesting also is that while she is the villainess character in the game… It ends up that the character was actually abused for years and that her title as a villain is unfair and that the game can be played as the villainess as even a player as a ‘hard’ mode compared to the heroine character.  It’s up to her to turn things around and it’s actually a fun take on the villainess genre.  I’m really looking forward to how things proceed even as my fears about which dude she’ll end up with continue to increase.
Finally, another layer I enjoy is that the MC lead a similar life in her previous life.  She’d only just escape her own abusive family before she’d ended up here and MC just desperately wants to escape once again… using any means necessary.

The Villainess Reverses the Hourglass by SanSobe (story) and Ant Studio (art)
With the marriage of her prostitute mother to the Count, Aria’s status in society skyrocketed immediately. After leading a life of luxury, Aria unfairly meets death because of her sister Mielle’s schemes. And right before she dies, she sees an hourglass fall as if it were a fantasy. And just like that, she was miraculously brought back to the past.
“I want to become a very elegant person, just like my sister, Mielle.”
In order to face the villainess, she must become an even more wicked villainess. This was the new path Aria chose to take revenge on Mielle who murdered both her and her mother.
Tumblr media
Why *I* like it:   If you thought that this list might be in descending order, guess again!  This one is one of my favorites.  Now this one lacks isekai, but is a reincarnation of a villainess!! Rather the MC was an absolute horrible person in her past life, but finds out at the last minute that her ~pure~ sister had been leading her by nose into acting like a brat just seconds before she is executed.  Now that she has a second chance, she’ll be a proper villainess and turn the tables on her sister.
In her last life, Aria never bothered educating herself so now that she’s a teenager again she actually has to learn things again (it’s not just like she gets to act like she’s a genius and good at everything) but she works hard at maintaining a sweet image and making everyone love her, even as she snickers behind their backs, all the while subtly setting her sister up for failure.
This is a proper revenge story, I’m promised by those who read the LN!! Revenge stories about women are rare to come back, especially one that doesn’t make revenge look like a total evil thing lol.  What can I say, I have my interests.  Anyway, it’s super cathartic to watch Aria slowly unfold her masterplan to foil her sister’s plans and take everything that her sister had cherished in her previous life. And all that not to mention the certain powers that Aria later discovers she has at her disposal... :3c

Beware of the Villainess by Bbongdda Mask (story) and Pureunkanna (art)
I became the villainess of a novel! Do I hate it? No! I find it rather nice. A duke’s daughter equals a jobless rich person. How can I miss out on a chance like this?! This is the best chance to just enjoy life. I should throw out the main plot and just live life how I want to! Not long after waking up as the villainess, I witnessed my fiancé, the crown prince and the novel’s male lead, cheating. I saw him embrace a lady other than I and he was smiling so bright. I was brought to tears… Just kidding, I didn’t cry! My tears are worth too much to be wasted on that garbage. Instead of tears, I yelled out, “Your highness, are you trash?”
Tumblr media
Why *I* like it:   Listen there are 2 ways to react to waking up as a villain of a series you once read… Either you turn the tables and become a good guy OR you can embrace it!  The world the novel is based on has the basic premise of the pure and good heroine winning the affection of 4 bratty, horrible men.  MC is the fiance of one of them and says fuck that.  She also has some thoughts that none of these dudes deserve the heroine of the novel but this one is still pretty early on so the jury still out on if she’s going to save this poor girl from her fate of ending up with any of these absolute assholes.
This one is along the veins of the previously mentioned Living As the Tyrant’s Older Sister, in that the pull for this series is even less of the romance and more about the comedy aspect… Also MC’s facial expressions are…. Choice.  Just so good. Enough with pretty girls making pretty faces!!  We need more girls being ugly.  It’s what we deserve.  Yell at cheaters!!!!!! Tell them to fuck off!! Yes please.

Accomplishments of the Duke’s Daughter by Reia (Story), Umemiya Suki (Art)
Although she had reincarnated as the daughter of a Duke's house, by the time she regained her memories, the Ending was already here.
"After he cancels my engagement, the story would have me confined to a church. Where can I find my happy ending?"
Tumblr media
Why *I* like it:  I never read or watched Wolf and Spice but I imagine this is isekai Wolf and Spice… Well it’s got a lot about the economy at least lmao.   That’s literally the only thing I know about Wolf and Spice.  Anyway!!  The twist in this one is that the MC remembers her past life just as she’s about to be exiled, the end of the original game.  What the series focuses on is her life afterwards, as she scrambles to grab at any semblance of a good life… And she does so pretty quickly!
Her past life comes in handy as she sets to work managing a dukedom and fixes the economy!!  Moreover, even though it pains my heart whenever two women are pitted against each other… It does a great job of putting into question the original heroine’s pure shtick as she spends extravagantly on dresses and would rather just donate to the poor one day, instead of Iris the MC who sets to work on fixing the economy and creating jobs for the poor and putting money into bettering their lives in the long run, rather than throwing money at them and running.  Also, she’s grabbed the attraction of a mysterious man who takes a job helping her even though he is a prince aka the brother of her ex-fiance who he is fighting for the crown for.
-
And that’s it!! My list for now!! Tbh by next month there’ll likely be even more faves as I continue to add more and more series to my read list lol.  Because this isn’t even a fraction of all the reincarnation isekai series I’m into, just the best for certain reasons.
BTW, if you’re like... wow this list sure is straight then true unfortunately. I’m waiting for the day “I Favor The Villainess” gets adapted somehow.  Also there are several isekai in which a straight girl reincarnates into a yaoi novel but I haven’t found a true gem among them yet.

How to support Shoujo & Josei content: A Guide
(Disclaimer: this isn’t an expert opinion but just what I’ve seen work for other fandoms. Apologises as this will be a long post).
The problem is Shoujo and Josei doesn’t get more attention. Anime adaptations are few and even though Shoujo Isekai mangas are amazing, most people in the anime community consider Isekai to be already oversaturated that they don’t give it a chance. The question is: how do us fans get more anime adaptations? More light novels given manga adaptations? More anime convention panels? More official merch? Basically, more attention? The answer is
Watching new seasonal anime as soon as it’s available. Why? Because legal (yes guys unfortunately free sites don’t count) streaming sites like Crunchyroll, Funimation, VRV etc. record the number of people who watch anime on their platform by episode and if they see that a particular anime gets views immediately a new episode is live, of course they are going to continue to support it and relay their stats to the original anime studio. I know these sites have lots of ads (I hate it too) and some only allow VIP subscribers to watch an episode as soon as it launches, that’s fine as long as you can watch the episode when it becomes free for you. Pro tip: the more people the better! Message your friends, your cousins, anyone you know that can check the episode out for a few minutes. And rate the episode if you can after you’re done!
By trending. Do you know how many times I’ve logged in here and saw some manga trending and decided “Might as well check out what the fuss is about”? Trending on any social media platform shows something interesting happened to the point that many people want to talk about it and this can attract new people to the fandom. Also, to be able to get so many people talking shows that the fandom is big or at least gives that illusion. It doesn’t have to be written posts, even fanart, tagging a picture of merch you have that you like or any contribution regardless of if you think it’s good or not is better than nobody engaging.
Giving high ratings on MAL. I’m pretty sure most have heard what happened to Chihayafuru Season 3 but if you haven’t, to summarise Chihayafuru 3 had been given great ratings on My Anime List to the point that it became one of the top rated anime in the Autumn 2019 season. However, this irritated some who believed other anime deserved the spot more and they started giving 1 star ratings on purpose until it lost it’s spot. The MAL team had to work hard to delete these reviews and bring the balance back (which I think has been restored but don’t quote me on that). MAL is a anime database that, just like Crunchyroll, records what anime/manga people are watching, plan to watch and already done with. Lots of people pay attention to their stats when they announce what the highest rated anime is etc. Therefore, giving high reviews to anime or manga you liked and making recommendations on the site won’t go unnoticed.
Buying light novels/manga volumes. Yeah, y’all knew this was coming. Supporting the authors financially is always the best way to draw more attention to a fandom because it shows the series is profitable. Notice how I didn’t put this first? Because a lot of people may not have the money to support at a given time (I’m a student so I only get to work during seasonal periods). English translations are also very hard to come by so when an official English translation is published, buy it if you’re able to, even if it’s just one volume you can afford. As far as reading online, I wish so much that Shojo Beat had its own app like Shonen Jump does, but only shoujo manga. Until that happens, there are others apps to read manga on. Particularly for Isekai, there’s Webnovel, Tapas and Tappytoon. If you’re more interested in Chinese manhua Webcomics, WeComics and Mangatoon have more than other apps. In case smut is more you style Coolmic and Renta are what you need. I chose these apps because money spent there gets back to the authors but there are probably many more apps out there. Some these give daily currency so if you can get something to read if you log in frequently.
Watching convention panels and other streams. So there’s a con on and you can’t go. Doesn’t matter! If there is a live broadcast, make sure to tune in and leave a comment. Views on each panel are recorded too so if lots of people tuned in for a panel, the planners would consider hosting a similar one the next time. But what if the panel is in a language you don’t understand? Comment anyway! I feel that English speakers comment less because the speakers might not understand them. However, showing appreciation for the creator of your favorite series shows them that they’ve got more people out there rooting for them.
So there you have it. That’s all I can think of at the moment. Like I said this is just what I’ve personally seen and think works, if there’s anything I missed please comment and if you already do all of this, I mean no insult or offence. Now back to my hermit hole!

I have indeed read waiting for spring, it was a long time ago but I remember likeing it quite a bit! The heroine had some depth of character and I liked how they put alot of importance on developing friendships too. How rude the guys are in the first few chapters made me laugh a lot too ahaha
Anyways it's been so long since I read this series I'll have to catch up in the new chapters sometime ahahaha

Beginning Thoughts of the Summer Anime Season 2017. . .
Summer Season of Anime is already among us, and I’m so glad it’s here.   With Spring being so incredibly weak, I find myself enjoying the fact that the Summer Season is already this good and it’s only the better.  Regardless, here are my thoughts on the beginning shows I’m watching.  Please keep in mind that these are based solely on the first episode or two, and are purely just my opinion.  So please, if yours differs, I’d love to here it.
Kakegurui:  Studio MAPPA
Tumblr media
Hi, I’m one of the contenders for best show of Summer Season.  Gambling.  Finally something different.  There aren’t as many series about Gambling as there is with so many others, much less done in this high school setting.  Regardless, I love the art style of this series, especially when it gets to be those truly disturbing scenes.  I can say without a doubt that this is definitely going to be one of the highlights of this season.
Hajimete no Gal:  Studio NAZ
Tumblr media
Would you hate me if I said this is one of my favorites so far?  Yeah, I’m trash, and this is trash, but I don’t care.  It’s an ecchi series that isn’t making me hate everything around me so far, so I’m going to enjoy this while it lasts.   DO NOT WATCH THIS WITHOUT HEADPHONES.
Koi to Uso: LIDENFILMS
Tumblr media
This show is a perfect example of a series where the plot is good enough to save the series.  The art style is very generic, granted, it’s higher quality generic, but generic and bland nonetheless.  I would love this series so much more if it was done in more of a March Comes in Like a Lion, or even a Scum’s Wish Art Style, but unfortunately, that isn’t the case here.  However, I am loving the plot thus far.  Who honestly isn’t interested in this concept of Forbidden Love.  I honestly can’t wait to see where this series goes from here.
Netsuzou TRap : Creators in Pack
Tumblr media
Disappointed.  Nine Minute Series.  Nine Freaking Minutes.  Honestly, unless you live and breathe for Yuri, don’t waste your time.  I happen to really enjoy Yuri, so I’ll keep watching it for a little while.  The manga is a billion times better compared to this.  #StopMakingShittyAdaptations.
Ballroom e Youkoso: Production I.G.
Tumblr media
Hi, I’m the other top runner for best series of the season.   I really love this series.  It’s amazing.  It’s unique, and I can honestly see this being almost as big as Yuri on Ice.  Check this shit out.   I mean you could also just check it out solely for the purpose of that unique I.G. Art Style; I mean, hello this has Haikyuu written all over it.
Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni:  Production Reed
Tumblr media
Dropped.  I’m sick of the “another-world-harem-series”  it’s getting old.  Granted, this is a slightly different “another world harem”  by having the main guy getting to keep his smartphone in this other world.  I know right?  God understands our first world struggles.  Also, this art style is bland.  But  who knows, maybe you’ll like it.
Nana Maru San Batsu:  TMS Entertainment

Annd this is going to be dropped.  Calling it now.  I hate the art style.  I also hate the main girl; in fact, I hate her so much I don’t even like her enough to learn her name.  I really liked the concept.  A Quiz Anime.  It’s completely different from everything else, the only thing that truly kills the series for me is the execution.  The execution is absolutely terrible. It had potential, and it’s just really sad to see it wasted.
Dive!!:  Studio Zero-G

Honestly, this is probably going to get dropped.  As much as I hate to admit it, I find this show just underwhelming.  When I first heard about the show, I had high hopes that it was going to be something, maybe not as awesome as Free!, but at least as eye catching, or entertaining, or hell, even just partially lovable as Free!.  I find myself disappointed, both with how the show is turning out, as well as with how much I expected from it.  Honestly, unless you live and breathe for Sports Anime, don’t bother.  I would also like to point out that everywhere I’ve read about it does have Comedy tagged before Sports, yet I have not found a bit of it even relatively close to “comedy,” so there’s that as well. . .
Hitorijime My Hero :  Encourage Films
Tumblr media
Watching this.  Why?  Meh, I like BL.  In all honestly though, it’s turning out alright; it is a Shounen Ai, series, so regardless, I always go into them with no expectations, so for now, it’s just meh.  I’ll let you know more when it gets further along.
Tsurezure Children:  Studio Gokumi
Tumblr media
I’m actually really enjoying this one.  It’s a cute little time killer that’s pretty funny, and is all about kids with these love problems.  How cute.  The art style is very generic, and the plot isn’t exactly reverting, but it’s entertaining and that’s all that matters.
Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e: Studio Lerche
Tumblr media
I’m interested.  Very interested.  I went into it thinking that it was just going to be some Assassination Classroom wanna be by the same studio:  Class of Underachievers, given up on by this precious elite school.  I’m honestly glad that it, so far, isn’t turning into that at all.  I’m curious to see where it goes from here.
Jigoku Shojo:  Studio Deen
Tumblr media
Hell Girl!! *Crying*  I missed you so much.  You never realize just how much you miss a show until you get another season and it just makes you so happy.  This is me with Hell Girl.  Thank you.  I needed this.  I needed an excuse to binge the series again, (which I totally did) just to mentally prepare myself for this new season.
Boku no Hero Academia:  Studio Bones
Tumblr media
That second half art style change though!!! Still best show so far.  Best show of the season.  Best Show of Last Season.  Just Best. Show.   WHY ARE YOU NOT WATCHING THIS?!?!?!
So anyways, that is my first impressions of the series so far that I am watching.  Please keep in mind these are merely my thoughts, and I am not going to be watching everything this season.  If there’s something I’m not watching that you think I should be, please let me know.  Also, let me know what you’re thinking of this season so far!

I will forever remember when I talked about Shojo with some other girls at a bookstore and I was about to talk about my favorite heroines just for them to straight up tell me that they didn't care about the heroines
Like... They're the mc of the manga you read and you don't care about her?
That's not surprise that male characters are popular no matter the audience. Guys want cool character to project into, which will attract girls as well.
I especially think that because in November while I was literally in hell mentally, that's what Chiyuki from death parade said that brought me back.
No matter how much I hate myself I couldn't think anything bad to the reflection of depression Chiyuki is. I couldn't think that her wish of people to try to understand each other was stupid. I couldn't look at her effort to reach for Decim were stupid.
Chiyuki is so strong and fragile and I love her for that. She's truly a character I admire.
And to her you add Fumi from Queen's Quality who hardened because of her trauma and yet again is still just a young girl who lived through so much. Yet still do her best to remain strong.
While I was picking myself up I had the thought that for all the waifu anime have, I never see anyone talking about any female character when it comes to more serious subject.
And with how waifu culture is just worst with the existence of isekai, I don't expect it to get better.
It just doesn't make me want to interact with most forum at all. Right now it really ruin my enjoyment, to feel that these voice are so undermined.

Magical☆Explorer is an isekai light novel series that involves a protagonist using his expertise of visual novels to dominate the world when reincarnated within the game. Now the prince who should be condemning her to death wants to hang around her all the time...?! Cecilia will do whatever it takes to achieve a peaceful and carefree life, but if her guise ever slips, it’s Game Over!
Cross-Dressing Villainess Cecilia Sylvie takes the isekai concept of being reincarnated in the world of an otome game and turns it on its head! In order to save her life, our protagonist masquerades as a man—a choice which leads to a whole lot of chaos in this fun-filled light novel series!

A frustratingly sweet, zero-stress romantic comedy!
The Girl I Saved on the Train Turned Out to Be My Childhood Friend is a sweet slice-of-life light novel that tells the story of love interests who reconnect in high school after years of separation from their middle school days. This rising star in the light novel world is written by Kennoji, the author of Hazure Skill: The Guild Member with a Worthless Skill Is Actually a Legendary Assassin, and illustrated by Fly, the artist of Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki.
