I reach for my vape, take a drag. Her student’s long-overdue debts to justice have been paid. They shouldn’t have cost her anything. I hope it’ll just be a sleepless night and some bad memories. The smoke I exhale lingers in the cold winter air, blurring the city lights across Hamakita Park.

Yagami is still here. I clear my throat, “So, where are you going to sleep, now that Tsukumo’s couch is occupied?”

“I feel like you’re also going to need someone to watch your back, tonight, Kuwana.”

“Hmm. Is that an innuendo or an interrogation? I can take care of myself, by the way.”

“Sure, interrogation then. I still want to keep a close eye on you. So where are you headed?”

I stretch my neck, letting my eyes travel from the light-doused night sky, down the skyscrapers, to the alleyways below. I could lose him, easily, I’m sure. But I’m tempted to take him up on his offer. It makes sense, I reason– good to have an extra pair of fighting hands, if RK catches up with me. I can always leave him in the dust then, if I have to.

“I figure if they knew how to find me at home, they would have. So I was going to double back, make sure I’m not being tailed, and head home.” I tilt my head, “Think you can keep up?”

“Lead the way.”

His gait matches mine, naturally. We’re step in step along crowded sidewalks, down the flashing lurid signs of alleyway bars, past the rich scent of cheap ramen followed immediately by the gag-inducing perfume of the nearby dumpster. Yagami doesn’t complain, even hesitate when I take a leap up a ladder, climb, one foot after the other, up eight stories to a rooftop that overlooks Tsurukame Highway.

“Hold on,” I grab Yagami’s shoulder as he’s already making for the rooftop door. 

He turns back, smiles, “Can you keep up?”

He only means to stop Crowley's teasing from crossing into a territory he's uncomfortable discussing with near-complete strangers, but something in the way he says it must make Crowley uncomfortable in turn because his cheeks go red and he clears his throat, head half-ducked as he gestures for Aziraphale to lead them to the archive. Aziraphale gives him an apologetic look and awkwardly charges on, restlessly fiddling with the ring on his little finger.

1. I fucking kicked ass today in getting insurance for both the household cars. Just my power levels have crossed a threshold because I am no longer scared of phone calls to people whomst our relationship is a transaction where I give them money. if they’re awkward who cares. 2. Love to cook and clean! It’s nice to be a domestic goddess!

This took 3 business days, I know.

I may have said this before but I remember being so excited about this show on the night it premiered. Not even five minutes in, I had this gut instinct that he’s different and I genuinely felt it wasn’t the show trying to make a quirky protagonist but someone who literally operates on a different wavelength.

From the cicadas, to the structured morning routine (very important), to only wearing suits (99% of the time, tolerates certain fabrics), how trusted touching comes from Gil (99% of the time), his hyper-fixations and extensive knowledge about snakes, ancient weapons, etc, his hand stims (also...the stress ball!), and his eating habits! When he said “most foods make me sick,” that was the exact moment where I went, “Oh, he’s autistic.”

Also, the moment in “Fear Response” when he mimicked Dani and JT’s stance (y’all know the one) was !!! chef’s kiss, top tier mimicking how he’s “supposed” to feel.

And then! The show didn’t expand on that!

There’s a rant about TV writers autistic-coding characters that I’m not going to get into but I do think there’s a good case if the writers ever thought about it. I love this headcanon, wish this could be a real thing bc it’ll add many more layers to this already-complex character!

TLDR; malcolm can be autistic and not for “uwu he’s baby” reasons

Last movie: Palm Springs - it was alright... funny and good in a quirky pass the time kind of way. I wouldn’t buy the DVD to treasure forever.

Currently Watching: Prodigal Son (because I’m OBSESSED), but also The West Wing. 

Currently reading: Nothing at the moment, other than a couple of fanfics. Can’t concentrate too long at the moment, too easily distracted or sleepy.  But the last book I read was A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. It was amazing, I have never cried so much, it is so, so sad, but I found it kind of hopeful too. There are so many trigger warnings needed for that book, so read at your own risk, educate yourself before diving in, because it will fuck you up.
