"You don't have to deny who you are or all the wonderful aspects of your bisexuality, but you also don't have to tell every super judgmental stranger you meet either."

I was reading an article that stated that bisexuality was a new term from the 1990's. News flash it's not. It's truly sad and amazing all at the same time that people are unaware how pervasive bi-erasure is in our society.
Bisexuality has always existed. Hell one of the most famous bisexuals' of all time is Julius Ceasar himself. Julius Caesar had assorted wives, mistresses and male lovers, prompting the poet Catullus to refer to Caesar as ″the husband to every woman and wife to every man″ in Rome. To top it all off, we have an actual month of the year (July) named after him.
If that doesn't clue you in about how pervasive bi-erasure and misinformation about bisexuality is that arguably the most famous roman emperor, who exuded so much chaotic bisexual energy that he got his own month in the year (shout out to all July babies) sexuality has been erased, you're not paying attention.

Comphet
Compulsory heterosexuality (often shortened to comphet) is the theory that heterosexuality is assumed and enforced upon people by a patriarchal and heteronormative society. (The term was popularized by Adrienne Rich in her 1980 essay titled "Compulsory Heterosexuality and Lesbian Existence".)
Yes, I believe "Compulsory heterosexuality" is 100% a real thing. But I also think it can be used for bi-erasure.
If a someone is in a heteronormative relationship and then changes to a homonormative relationship, don't immediately proclaim "comphet, they are a lesbian!" In my experience that scenario is usually someone who is realizing and embracing their bisexuality. It does NOT make them lesbian. It is up to the individual to define their sexuality for themselves.

Steve can have loved Nancy and be bisexual. Steve can love Eddie and be bisexual. Steve can date whoever he wants and be bisexual.
That's what bisexuality is. Both.

screaming into a void: unlabeled queer identities are valid you don't get to decide for someone else what their identity is and if we don't listen to people's words and allow them to self-identify and leave it up to them to tell us who they are and trust their truths then what are we even doing here and people are allowed to have fun with self-expression no matter what their identity is because the whole point is nobody has to adhere to binaries especially with things like fashion and art and real people can't queerbait!!!!!

I am tired of people responding to my Erehisu posts by saying that Historia is gay and only loves Ymir. That isn’t going to change the fact that I headcanon Historia as bisexual or that Ymir is dead, so at least I want Historia to find love again while people like you want her to be in perpetual mourning over her first love that she lost at 15 years old.

Me: Absolutely hates DickBabs and is probably my #3 NOTP in all of DC (still top 10, but that’s more due to some rare pairs I found by random).
Also me: -sees anti-DickBabs content- I get it’s awful, but you seem ready to tear off a DickBabs shipper’s head. Calm down.
