⚠️AVOID NESTLE ⚠️
Nestle is one of the biggest companies in the world, selling a wide range of products such as water, baby formula, baby food, sweets/candy, ice cream, meals, and so much more.
They benefit off the work of slaves, especially child slaves, they have ruined places in the poorer sides of Africa that have running water so the locals have to rely on their bottled water, the ceo is quoted in saying "water is not a human right", their water branch has been responsible for droughts in places like California and Flint, Michigan, they pump over 700 gallons/2649 litres of water from reserves and communities. They even have the nickname "baby killer" because they are responsible for the deaths of around 66,000 babies, possibly/probably more, because of scheme in the 70s-80s where they claimed breast milk is bad for babies and even paid of doctors to endorse them, they gave free baby formula to mothers but the supply was only big enough for the amount of feeds it would take for the mothers milk to dry up, meaning by the end of the supply they would have no choice but to buy the formula. A lot of these mothers didn't have access to clean water, so they had to use unsanitary water and a lot of babies died because of this.

Facts of science are rarely the topic of wide discussion. Some times, they’re too elaborate, others they’re too complex. Many times, these facts are simply not attractive headlines.
But the reason oncogenic viruses are obscure to many is, I believe, more sinister.
Oncogenic viruses are a number (7) of viruses that have the ability to cause cancers. Some of them are a part of our usual viral “flora” while others are quite rare. They can cause a variety of cancers and make up about 1/5 cancer cases worldwide.
Because they are inherently infectious, they usually spread in areas where contamination (of water or other communal cornerstones) is common, in areas where access to adequate health care is limited.
You should know where I’m going with this now.
These viruses spread, ergo causing malignancies, in impoverished communities.
I will list examples that highlight this correlation:
- HPV, an oncogenic virus that causes over 95% of cervical cancer cases, still causes a substantial number of cases in different areas of Africa and Asia despite the existence of an effective vaccine.
- Most Burkett’s Lymphoma cases in Uganda have traces of EBV whereas cases in America attribute Burkett’s Lymphoma to EBV less often.
- 50% of recorded cancer cases in Uganda are due to infectious agents
There are many other examples that point to a strong link between (“infectious”) cancers and the developing world.
Despite the fact that their infectious nature makes these cancers more preventable and (in some cases) even treatable, cancer’s mortality rate is far high in underdeveloped countries vs. developed countries.
So why don’t we talk about this more often? Well, because it’s not a clickable story. People don’t appreciate uncomfortable truths that often make them feel like culprits.
Discomfort is, however, a lousy excuse in the face of death.
The population of young men and women dying of cancer as a direct result of the consequences of colonialism that left these countries in dire need of proper medical care is enormous.
Step one is to make sure our community is aware and informed about oncogenic viruses and the threat they have over many communities.
What I hope you take from this is a curiosity to learn more and a motivation to spread awareness.
I’d be happy to provide anyone with interested in a list of resources that can help you learn more.
I know that not many people are reading this, but talking about it is very important.
Finally, a few notes:
- Oncogenic viruses also cause cancers in the developed world (but, of course, they pose a lighter risk)
- Infectious agents linked to cancer aren’t necessarily viruses. Bacterias and parasites also have oncogenic mechanisms, but viruses surpass them both.
- Consider getting the HPV vaccine. It prevents up to 88% of cervical cancer cases. (Consult a doctor though!)
- This note is very summarised. We all have a lot more to learn.
- I use simplified term like “developed” and “underdeveloped” to convey the circumstances of incidence more clearly.
- Cancers in and of themselves are NOT infectious. However, some viruses that are linked to them can spread from one person to another.
Let me know if you think I’ve got anything wrong. Apologies in advance for the inevitable spelling and grammar mistakes.

by Carl Trueman | The last week has made obvious to all but the most willfully blind the depth and power of the culture industry’s commitment to normalizing transgenderism. From the odd way in which media reports both downplayed the trans identity of the killer in the Nashville school shooting while playing up the danger of a backlash against those claiming trans identities. Then Budweiser announced that it was appointing “trans influencer” Dylan Mulvaney as a spokesman for Bud Lite and...

I’m sorry hold up wait a minute what?
You were almost fired for being too friendly?
Tumblr media
Too friendly. Too friendly.
See this is one reason why big corporations are so shitty. This is why I’m all about small businesses and want them to thrive. Because big corporations like them don’t care about people.

I’ve been thinking about big corporations and how they’re like, inherently fascist. No on elects CEOs but they just like, own everything. Governments in countries like the US and Canada like to preach about democracy and the free market but the free market just doesn’t exist. There is nothing free about the market.
People in positions of power are put there by the ones above them not the ones below. Democracy is supposed to be all about you get a choice in who leads bit corporations control everything and there was never any choice in that. The people who own these big corporations have a dictatorial rule over everyone below them. Just look at Elon Musk and twitter, firing people left and right. These are peoples lives he’s playing with and he gets to just do that because he’s the boss even though nobody wanted him.
Democracy and capitalism are incompatible. It doesn’t make any sense to claim that we live in a democracy when we’re lorded over by a bunch of asshole billionaires.

Walmart makes enough to keep running those stores and still make a massive profit despite thefts, so I only shed tears for the employees who are losing their jobs and the communities that have to go to higher priced stores or go further to another location.

The title is a bit misleading. The Lever is quite clear on Obamacare being a good thing, but it had some unintended consequences that health insurance companies have used to completely break the system. This article is quite long, but it's a worthwhile read if you're a semi-regular user of American healthcare services.
TL;DR under Obamacare insurance companies must spend at minimum 80-85% of the premiums they collect on patient care as opposed to executive salaries & other administrative expenses. The insurance companies then started "vertical mergers," where they buy up pharmacy chains, clinical providers, and even software & analytics companies so that they can effectively pay themselves for patient care! They continue to do this today, along with strategies to milk every dollar they can out of Medicare with Medicare Advantage plans. Result: everyone in America pays mega-corporations ever more money for worse care.

The Health Insurance Impossible Circle
Some people with chronic pain are not able to work, some can, and some choose to try. Regardless, it’s important that they have a dedicated medical specialist to help manage their symptoms and pain. Obviously, here in the US, one needs medical insurance for this.  Government and state insurance usually prefer people to work but will quickly and without much, if any, warning cut the insurance…

Rejected Bad: Big Corporations
The following is a rejected script from an early season of Breaking Bad.
FADE IN:
INT. JESSE'S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
Walter, Jesse, Skinny Pete and Badger sit around a table. Walter looks agitated.
Walter: "Guys, I've got some news. Amazon is opening a warehouse just outside of town."
Jesse: "So what?"
Walter: "So what? DON'T YOU GET IT? We can't let that happen! We absolutely have to do something!"
Skinny Pete: "What do we do?"
Walter: "We burn it down. Before Jeff Bezos arrives to personally open it."
Badger: "I'm in."
Jesse: "No way. I'm not doing that."
Walter: "Jesse, listen. Think about what Amazon has done to small businesses. They're a giant monopoly that needs to be stopped. We can make a statement."
Jesse looks at the others, then back at Walter.
Jesse: "Fine. I'm in."
Walter smiles.
Walter: "Good. Let's plan this out."
CUT TO:
EXT. AMAZON WAREHOUSE - NIGHT
The four men approach the building. Walter hands out gasoline cans.
Walter: "Okay, Badger and Skinny Pete, you two start on that side. Jesse and I will start on this side."
They start dousing the building with gasoline. Soon, the entire warehouse is covered.
Walter: "Okay, let's do this."
The four men light their matches and toss them onto the building. Flames quickly engulf the warehouse.
CUT TO:
EXT. NEWS FOOTAGE OF AMAZON WAREHOUSE BURNING - DAY
A local news station is broadcasting footage of the burning warehouse.
Reporter: "We're here outside the Amazon warehouse that caught fire last night. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but authorities are looking into the possibility of arson."
CUT TO:
INT. JESSE'S LIVING ROOM - DAY
The four men sit around the table again, watching the news.
Jesse: "Well, we did it."
Walter: "Yes, we did. And we made a statement."
Skinny Pete: "What's gonna happen to us now?"
Walter: "We should lay low for a while. And if the authorities come asking questions, we say nothing."
Badger: "I'm cool with that."
Jesse: "Me too."
The camera slowly zooms in on Walter's face as he looks determined.
Walter: "This isn't over. We have to keep fighting back against these big corporations. And I have a feeling this is only the beginning."
FADE TO BLACK.

thinking about the world is so
depressing like how much worse can the world get? how much worse can society and corporations get before we just crash and burn? this is not even living this is just constant suffering; I'm literally watching as children are being raised into neo-n*zis and people that genuinely believe that slavery never existed...
like everything is just part of some huge fucked up system that you could never hope to dismantle because people are so stupid and ignorant and racist that they just work towards the doom of our country.
I just feel so helpless in making change happen, like you can't even protest anymore without getting killed in the streets. there's just no morale, like just thinking about the environment is enough for me to just hate the fact that we are so reliant on a system that literally is killing the future. what's the point of even fighting??
but at the same time, it's like; not fighting is the reason we’re still stuck in this system where nothing is ethical, nothing is sustainable, and nothing brings us closer to social justice and change.
I truly admire activists because I don’t understand where they get hope when they see just how big and evil and sinister the world and big corporations are.

100,000 dollars is not a lot of money.
it is also a lot more money than i will ever have. my student loans make up half of that - they're coming back, i'm told, like we all bounced back recently. the other day while paying for gas to go to work, i overdrew my account without knowing it.
i sat in the car and looked at the charge and tried to do the math. where the fuck is the money even going? i don't live extravagantly. i live in a hole in the ground, in an apartment the size of a sneeze; covered in ants. yes, i wanted to live close to a population center. maybe that's my fault. i've downloaded the apps and i've spoken to the experts and i've cut back on excess. i can't help the pharmacy bills or the medical debt.
i have a good, well-paying job. when i googled it to see if i was getting a fair salary, i found out i'd be making "upper middle class" money. which doesn't make sense - is "upper middle class" now just "able to afford a one-bedroom without a roommate". when i was younger, upper-middle meant a nice big house and a backyard and vacations and not flinching about eating at a resturant.
i was talking to my friend who is a realtor. he said 100,000 dollars is extremely cheap for housing. he's not wrong. 100,000 dollars would change my life. 100,000 dollars also won't really buy you anything. it could get you out of debt, potentially, if you were lucky and had a certain amount of scholarships to tack onto your degree. you could pay off the car and then have enough left over for "spending" money. how fucking amazing. one vacation, maybe two if you're thrifty. and then - like magic - the money would evaporate into nothing. people would sigh and tell you see, you should have put it into savings! like "upper middle class" people can't afford to value "actually living" over squirrelling wealth. you should spend your life only in scarcity. like that is what made the rich people all their real "actually a lot of money".
100,000 dollars would literally set me free. it also would just set me back to "earning normally" instead of paying down debt into infinity. god, do you know how many of us just want that? that our first thought is we could stop scrambling and just be free of debt if we won the lottery? that we don't even necessarily need to stop working - we just wouldn't have to worry about failing or falling?
and. at the same time. 100,000 dollars is next to fucking nothing.
