It's deeply amusing to me seeing all the fanart of the trans!Big Macintosh from MLP:FIM, because my baby sister (who I am not out to, especially not back when this conversation happened) basically assigned me Big Macintosh.

She was all "he's big and strong and doesn't say much! Like you!" and I was like "AYUP!"

And now everyone is drawing him as a trans woman. Not just a girl, mind you: the resurgence in Big Macintosh fanart I'm seeing is not "what if Big Macintosh was always a filly", it's very definitely "big masculine adult man Big Macintosh realizes he's a woman, and starts transitioning". And that's somehow more important to me, especially given my assigned-big-mac-kin status by my sister.

I was never the most masculine "man", but I'm Tall and Fat and just generally Big, and I'm not the kind of person who dresses extravagantly or puts a lot of character into how I speak. I'm a big autistic person who just likes to Do Their Thing instead of talking or visibly feeling much about it. That's why my sister went "you're Big Macintosh!"

So to see people taking that character and making them into a trans person like me, and not doing it in the Magical Genderswap way where suddenly they're a curvy thin short woman with makeup and incredible fashion sense... But as a trans woman, who still has the same traits she had as a man: she's still big. She still dresses like she's a farmer. She still only says what needs to be said, and gets on with the work that needs to be done.

It's touching, you know? And it makes me realize that when I do eventually come out to my baby sis, she'll understand.

Funny how they did that, even in such poor lighting. Glinting. Hawke barely seemed real. They’ve gone on a mission or two together since that initial, embarrassingly disastrous meeting, and it was still shocking that the woman lived up—if not surpassed—her nearly legendary status. Compared to the other missions Charade led with the Jennies, this was somewhat easier than her normal fare. But while Hawke was a known figure, and by technicality kin, Charade still didn’t know her. Mer's Rec: Okay, I'm admittedly biased toward this piece, because it was a gift for me as part of the 2023 Platonic Ideal Exchange. That being said, it is an INCREDIBLE work of sibling dynamics and I think of it whenever I think about Charade Amell. Havvke explores the relationship between Charade as a Red Jenny, Carver as a Grey Warden, and Hawke as...Hawke, in a beautiful web of complicated choices and found family. Over a year later, it still holds up as one of the best exchange gifts I've ever received.

Alistair/Female Warden, Alistair & Anora Mac Tir, Alistair & Warden's Mabari | T | 3042 words | No Archive Warnings Apply Author's Summary: Alistair and the Warden are no longer together, but they still exchange letters - through Dog. Alistair struggles to find happiness in his life as king, but he isn't entirely alone. Mer's Rec: I read this one just recently and oh my GOODNESS it both made me laugh and also pulled at my heartstrings. Leggy alters the canon breakup between a King Alistair & the Warden to be somehow even more heartbreaking and the way that he talks to Dog is just so essentially Alistair, I could hear every line in his voice. Add to that several well done bits between Alistair & Anora and this piece absolutely delivers on the "sad" and "heartache" in the additional tags.

It leads in with one of the better descriptions of nightmare panic that I've seen and the way that Lavellan grounds Cullen from it is smooth and heartfelt, as is his reaction to her comfort. It caps off with some sweet fluff and a taste of human/elf relationships dynamics, for which I am a sucker, and which end the fic on soft, heartfelt note.

I have a counter, and I've watched 12 Angry men a total of 145 times. The figure is up on my wall in tallies. whenever the number goes up, I like to watch it in 5's so then I can put another full group of tallies on my wall.

I have incredibly detailed stories about how Davis would boogie down to ringo starr's solo career, and they're written within the margins of a book called Tobruk written by Peter Fitzsimons. The only reason I reread that book is to wonder at my elaborate works of fiction

My HASS teacher was the one to introduce me to 12 Angry Men as he played it for the entire class. He gave us a set of questions to complete on the film and a few Law based questions as a little treat, and he expected it to be handed in the next day. What he didn't expect was an 11 page monster of a response that included social commentary, 4 paragraphs dissecting the character of Davis alone, deeply discussed comparisons between the landscapes of politics and law in the 50's to the present, and basically an entire point-for-point summarisation of the film, completed with obscure quotes from Truman, Eisenhower, Nixon and Presley (Elvis). He presented the printed masterpiece in front of the entire class to shame me.

After class he explained how his favourite Juror would either be 6 or 5, because 6 seems like a big dumb teddybear and he just liked 5. I explained how I liked Davis because he didn't want to send a kid to die, then he told me how Davis would make a good cowboy (at this point in time I was unaware of Henry Fonda's role in Once Upon A Time in The West) and I proceeded to go home and write a 3 part orchestral composition that I could pretend would play as the soundtrack to Juror 8: A Cowboy's Tale or something like that

I had started to make an animation meme starring Davis but only gave up when photoshop literally deleted itself from my laptop

I didn't even hear that Juror 8's name was Davis when I first watched it in class, somehow I only heard it on my 6th rewatch but when I did I literally got so excited I literally got winded and cried a little bit, I had to take a panadol because I got so lightheaded

I have learned the musical motif that plays throughout the film on saxophone, clarinet, recorder, guitar, bass, ukulele, piano and trumpet

Here's where I know I can't be the only one who had their checklists ready when thinking about roommates. Girls/guys, you know you had those in high school or even younger.

Heck in high school I thought someone would lose .5 pt for choosing a Big Mac over a Whopper. Turns out it wasn't much of a prob because we discovered In & Out together during college. Why didn't we go to the same university? Ohh it's because I finished my GE courses while in high school before truly deciding on a concentration my family would be ok with.

They're not all on board with what I do yet can't say anything because they know I still get calls for job positions from big companies. YAY. Ohh I can say that after the fact because I still have fun with contract positions and tutoring.

Yeah I worked to pay for studies and training if being a starving college student downing books in the library and taking notes during lectures counts. Psst... A 2x CIS professor laughed after quizzing my brain and triple checking I wasn't one of their students. He said the studying on your own counts as long as you have real practice.

Enough about that. Let's get back to finding roommates. Ok, my first place in college in the city was rough mostly bc I was in a tall city Victorian home with steep hard wooden steps. That and my place was up in the attic with the only spare phone line for dial-up internet in the basement. 🤷‍♀️ What was I to do, when I could afford the monthly?

Ohh doy, most sane people would pick the corporate tech job with engineers always tugging at them to interview. That's where darn responsibility kicked in and I got called to the retirement area of all areas in California to visit family, colleges, and family.

Then I got word about dad not taking care of himself health wise, so I moved back up to my childhood home to see him. Dad's stubborn so he rented out my room that had a good closet & quick access to my husky in the backyard. What a thanks to me.

His cousin who thought I was a bum called the police on me for trespassing and not paying rent. Police asked who I was and I got to say, "The next of kin." Then they further looked into it and left. That cousin of dads was so cruel she moved my phone away from me when I couldn't stop puking 🤮 from her cooking.

Sorry I was gonna call my BF down the street to rush me to the ER. It's not like I can't barf into a garbage bag.

That's stuff I need to get over, she stole my inheritance but my insurance is paying me so much more in returns. Threw my sis for a loop until I showed them my medical bills.
