I can excuse Dazai not trying to nullify Shibusawa's fog because Fyodor was there, and they really could have just incapacitated Dazai and gone right back to their nefarious plan
but the facts are that Shibusawa was unknowingly keeping himself alive as a singularity and Dazai can nullify singularities, so there was a much less convoluted way to stop him.

Prompt 198
Now Bruce was not expecting to reincarnate upon his death. At least he thinks he died, he’s pretty sure he did. There wasn’t any other reason for him to be a well, literal baby. Around two he thinks, which fits well with the fact that it’s around that time that babies start forming memory recall, if he, well, remembered correctly.
But while he knew about reincarnation thanks to Shayera and Carter, he’d never exactly given it much thought towards himself. Because seriously, what were the chances of such a thing as him being given another chance?
So he was quite surprised at his situation, experimentally opening and closing pudgy hands that looked well, just a tiny bit off. He’d never been that pale before, he thinks, even back when he never went outside like, ever.
He turned his gaze towards the mobile above him with a sort of idle curiosity- a mixture of bats (ha) and other trinkets he wasn’t familiar with. It also caused him to get his first good look at his parent, asleep on a rocking chair right next to the crib.
Huh. They had the same pale skin he did, albeit in the light it looked like it was slightly tinted blue, and while their hair was white they didn’t exactly look old. They looked surprisingly well rested for raising a toddler too, unless they had a nanny or something similar… He rolled over, managing to very shakily push himself to his feet with the help of the crib.
Why was standing so hard as a toddler? And why did he have his memories of everything except how he had died anyway?
His head whipped up from where they were staring at his feet when he heard a snort, finding his parent awake and standing. Somehow silently enough that he hadn’t noticed- or he was that easily distracted by the unfamiliar giddiness bursting in his chest.
“Morning little bat,” his parent easily picked him up and held him while he inwardly sighed at the nickname. Of course his bat motif would follow him into this life. A low rumbling almost caused him to jump, his body relaxing before he could fully register the sound. The… purring?
Oh.
He wasn’t human this time around.

starter for @godzexperiment
He'd definitely gone too far, but only because he'd been frightened. No, terrified. The guy he'd been trying to shake all night had followed him out of the bar, which–in his less than sober state–he hadn't picked up on. Normally, people's emotions gave them away far before they could surprise him.
It all had happened to quickly. One moment, he'd been the victim, and the next the man from the bar was crumpled near the dumpster next to the witch. As quickly as the life threatening experience had been, the length of time in which he stood–back against the grimy wall for support–was a lifetime. Either from his intoxicated state or from shock, his legs shook too much to flee the scene.
Most people souls were variations of shimmering colors, like the aurora borealis in a way. But he remembered the muddled, sour-tasting life force transferring from the creep to himself. "Oh, fuck." Time to go before someone comes to investigate the noise from the struggle.
Pulling himself together, mostly, Gael stepped around the building with the intentions of heading straight to his hotel. Only to see a familiar face. Stunned, he managed to utter a slurred, "w-worst timing ever, dude."

It's hilarious to me how a lot of The Blue Castle is spent hinting at a Big Plot Twist/Reveal, and as the reader you're excited to see whether your theory is correct and what Valancy's reaction to it will be, but once the reveal comes, so much insanity has happened to her in the last 24 hours that when she does find out she's just like "okay, this might as well happen I guess"

for the record i don’t actually think it was athena who let echidna and the chimera into the temple because there’s a big difference between “the gods can do bad things and aren’t around but we are loyal to them because they protect us in their own way and are better than what the titans would be” and “my mother got slightly embarrassed by something my friend did so she actively allowed an ancient monster to kill us at twelve years old”

I'm watching Chuggaaconroy's LP of Earthbound again, and It's making me think about things related to Undertale/Deltarune. I'll never think that d.ogg is actually a reference to any motif. It's just a short menacing loop. But I can't help but wonder if Toby was going for it to feel like the empty soundstone at all? I always thought it was spooky, at least. Less menacing but you get my point I hope.
I've also been thinking about the 7th Your Sanctuary(end of ep50, start of ep51), and how it directly disconnects us from Ness being a player surrogate. How cool that moment must of felt for Toby to make that the Big Reveal of His Game. He wrote the entire game barely hinting at it at all by playing on our preconceived notions, but the few hints that are there stick out like a sore thumb once you know. Also thinking about how nothing is original. How even things predictable, can be made beautiful by the journey there. Like in Mother 3, [OMEGA SPOILERS BTW]
it's revealed that Claus, your brother, is The Nefarious Masked Man. You'll often see the "I'm actually your Father!/Relative!/Etc!" Literally used as a joke in cartoons because of how commonly it's used, but I've also never heard anyone deride Mother 3 for that reveal.
I wonder how many people will be unhappy with Deltarune if it plays out in a predictable way, directly calling back to whatever Toby's favorite parts of Mother 3 would be for the big reveal? Or is the love big enough for the dedicated fan base to only ever love it? Does any of that even matter, when the journey is going to be great anyways?

so I got the screaming staircase for Christmas (I've been reading library copies) and I was flipping through it and
*sobbing* they love each other. so much. I am so ready to see them working together and caring for each other on screen....
(plus knowing them they'll probably up the romance, which won't be too bad in this scene.....)
