Alright! Mairon is first up!

💗 - How long does it take your muse to fall in love?

It took him hundreds of sun years to fall in love with Melkor lol. I’ll describe it one day lol.

💐 - What small things go a long way for your muse? What small favors can someone do to get on their good side?

Listen to him talk about his craft and compliment his work. Give him pretty uncut jewels, and your handmade gifts. He appreciates things like that.

💝 - What's their love language?

Unironically it is gift giving. He makes enchanted jewelry, armor, and weapons for those close to him. He also likes to cook for his lover and friends.

🍨 - What are expectations your muse has had about love that either was false or impossible to live up to?

He thought he and Melkor could withstand it all. He was wrong. He tried so hard to be there for Mel, thinking that love would conquer all. That’s what the ballads and his poetry books said anyway. In the end, a part of him regrets not abandoning him. He hates himself for thinking such thoughts, but he can’t help it. He feels like Melkor abandoned him for the wars and Silmarils.

💘 - What traits personality-wise are attractive to your muse?

Creative, Innovative, Goal oriented, knowledgeable, goth. He also needs someone who needs to be bossed around/managed.

🍓 - Do dates matter to them? Do they often put a big focus on anniversaries, partners birthdays, Valentines day etc?

He’ll say that dates and anniversaries don’t matter to him, but he secretly loves it when Melkor takes him out exploring or hosts a party in his name.

🌸 - What's their idea of a perfect date?

Exploring middle earth. He misses when Mel would take him away to spy on the more unknown parts of Arda, then they’d have a picnic on some unnamed mountain.

💖 - What traits does your muse find physically attractive?

He likes tall guys with dark hair and a manic look in there eyes. Melkor’s form changes a lot over the years, but Mairon is partial to his “normal okay goth guy” disguise or his “eldritch being of discord and change” looks.

❤ - What's something you feel like your muse needs to work on for a relationship to happen or for a relationship to be healthy? Do you think that's possible? Or is it something that'll likely never happen?

He needs to work on his perfectionism and he needs to stop deifying Melkor in their relationship. It literally destroyed him in canon. It IS possible, just not with how things went in canon.

💞 - Would your muse ever be opened to a polyamorous or open relationship?

Absolutely not. He needs to be Melkor’s number 1. If Melkor suggested a threesome, going poly, or having an open relationship he’d find a way to kill him and then himself. He’d burn down angband/utumno with everyone inside. Even if he didn’t he’d never agree on the bases that no one else is worthy to be with them.

❣ - Are they secretive about their romantic relationships or do they not stop talking about it?

Yes, few actually knew about the truth behind his and Melkor’s relationship. They both feared that, should the valar find out the truth, then they would 100% storm into angbang/utumno and carry Mairon away never to be seen again. The fallout would be disastrous.

🌹 - If asked to define love what would your muse say?

Love is sacrifice. Love is eternal loyalty. Love is neigh religious devotion. Love is endurance. Love is an ache that never goes away. Love is what drives him.

🎀 - Do they aim to impress their partner often? If they do, how so?

Okay so pre-mandos Mairon was not very concerned with impressing Melkor. He was more concerned with making sure Melkor’s maiar were impressed. He needed their respect because he didn’t want them to get any ideas about his instantaneous promotion. Post-mandos Mairon is desperately trying to do all he can to get Melkor to pay attention to him again. When they made progress in the war that was thanks to Mairon. He’d also try unsuccessfully to make a jewel that would out shine the silmarils. He made the werewolves. He made the vampires. He crafted plagues, poisons, and torture techniques. Some of it worked, but most of it didn’t.

💓 - What are some signs your muse has fallen for someone?

Aule and Mairon’s friend group became suspicious that he was having a secret affair when he started to smile outside of the forge. He was happier, went missing for hours at a time, and started to become slightly careless with his duties, more relaxed. Relaxed is the best way to describe him.

🌵 - How toxic would a relationship be with your muse? Would it be able to be fixed?

His relationship with Melkor only became toxic once they waged war during the first age. Their long period of separation, combined with Melkor’s growing madness and nihilism left the two on very different pages. Melkor never hit him, and Mairon was always there to console his worries and wounds, but they started to actually fight each other. Always over the Children and the war. Mairon wanted to abandon Angband, move east, and return when they had conquered that part of the world. He also wanted to destroy the Silmarils. He hated those things and their curse. Melkor wanted to completely exterminate and subjicate the Children living in Beleriand (mostly because they are noldo and he HATES those elves). Eventually, the intimacies between them disintegrated to a wordless quickie every 10 years. They only conversed when talking war. IMO it was salvageable. Had Melkor allowed the Silmarils to be destroyed/forgotten about in some dank cave his mental health would actually be allowed to improve. Had they moved east, or even came to a truce with the noldo/valar they would not have ended in tragedy. Had Melkor been able to overcome his pride, hate, and self-loathing they could have avoided their ends. Had Mairon grown a backbone he could have used one of his many opportunities to tell Melkor the actual truth about how he felt. Melkor would have chosen him over a pointless war.

With anyone but Melkor? 100% toxicity & unsalvageable. He’s using you to forge magical cursed rings to dominate Middle Earth in the name of him and his husband or he’s using you to create a religious human sacrificing cult dedicated to his husband. Or your his undead slave. He does not care about you. #mansplainmanipulatemalewife

💔 - Their first heartbreak?

Romantically, should I count Melkor’s first or second imprisonment as his first heartbreak? Platonically, it could be the first time Aule disregarded one of his creations as blasphemy, or I would say it was Thuringwethil’s death.

🌺 - Would they be willing to change any part of them for a partner? If not how far would they be willing to go

Ooohhhh this is a good one. Consciously he would say no, but we know better then that. Mairon did not always delight in pain and torment. He was kind once. The things he did for Melkor made him cruel. Melkor needed ways to make punishments send a message so he invented the rack and wheel. What Melkor needs Melkor gets. This is an entire essay that I will write at another time.

💮 - Is your muse the possessive or super jealous type?

He’s a bit of both. When talking about Melkor in the presence of Melkor’s servants he refers to him as “My lord Melkor” or “My king Melkor”. No one else is allowed to call Melkor by name, so he likes to flex his privileges. He isn’t too worried that Melkor will get lured away because he knows no one else could ever want him (besides maybe Nienna but Melkor hates her attitude about him and finds her boring). The only thing he is really jealous of is the Silmarils. Melkor started calling those “my precious” and ummm he did not take that well at all. A small part of him always thinks that he’s not good enough (he’s only a maia, Varda shines brighter then he ever will, Luthien sings sweater then he is able to now that his throat is wounded, Feanor captured the light of the trees, he’s never seen the trees...)

💟 - Was there ever a time when they had fallen out of love? What was their reaction to it? How did they handle it?

He has never stopped loving Melkor, but he did go to tol sirion mainly because he realized that what they had can never be fixed or mended. That their shared love is no more. He realized that it was doomed and that broke him. He became erratic and had periods where he could not stop weeping.

🥰 - Is your muse good at telling when others have feelings for them?

In the beginning, he was terrible at it. So many potential suitors got brutally shut down because he couldn’t tell they were flirting or trying to ask him out. Eonwe spent centuries trying to get a date with him. Mai didn’t even know he had a crush on him until Eonwe told him after the War of Wrath. He only knew Melkor liked him because he was upfront about it. After going all evil, he becomes great at it. He uses it to his advantage, playing chaste and hard to get. Only to betray his duped suitor. RIP Celebrimbor you were so gullible </3

💌 - How would they confess to their love interest? Would they wait on a confession?

Melkor did approach Mairon first, and he was the first to make a move. However, neither confessed to eachother.

🖤 - What's something that will instantly make them dismiss someone as a romantic partner

Not being Melkor. He isn’t into incarnates, he isn’t into boring guys, he isn’t into the preppy look. He needs fun goth guys.

🌷 - Are they ever been scared/are scared to fall in love?

Yes, they never actually told each other “I love you” . He is scared of how much he loves Melkor, and he’s terrified that Melkor won’t say it back.

💄 - Is there a past relationship your muse wishes they could have changed?

Of course, he wishes he went with Melkor when he was first captured. He wishes he destroyed the Silmarils before Melkor’s mind was broken beyond repair. He wishes he was sent to the void with him. He wishes he could have changed a lot of things. The thing is, in my canonverse! they never actually defined their relationship. They had hid it behind a coworkers-with-benefits type deal. Mairon could make what he wished, and in turn he would provide Melkor with the Order and Precision he needed to succeed. They didn’t see anyone else and they were happy with that...for a while. What Mairon want’s most of all is to tell him “I love you” and to here that in return.

🥀 - Do they handle breakups well?

Do I even need to answer this? Well he and melkor didn’t actually break up, but had they broke up....Murder Suicide 100%

Hi valentine!! I’m going to be completely honest here, I think I did get your last ask, and I really didn’t mean to take this long to respond but I’ve been so sick I just haven’t had the energy. I’m so so sorry please forgive me 😭💖

My week has been… not the best tbh. I haven’t been back to work because I’ve been feeling so shitty. Hopefully I’ll be back there tomorrow though!

I was napping when Louis was performing yesterday even though it was like 9pm for me hahah. I had been awake all the night before but I did get to see some of the end!! I think I woke up a couple songs before the encore!

Ahh thank you thank you 💖💖 to be honest I don’t really have a definitive answer for this? The prompt just really jumped out at me when I saw it and I had been wanting to write some of the themes in that fic for a while.. and somehow it just all came together in the end I think. That’s probably not the answer you were looking for but honestly writing that fic was a fever dream.

Hi Lorna! This is your Robron Secret Valentine. As Valentine's Day is almost upon us, I'd really love to know you a little bit better. I already know you love Robron, politics, traveling, and writing. I also know you're as much of an lgbt activist as you can be on this fandom, which is really great. Could you tell me 4 more things that you or describe you?

aw this is such a nice question, thank u lovely secret valentine! 🌟💫 ok so.. four things about me, i got this!

1. I LOVE to cook. like, my favourite part of the day is making dinner, i love cooking. I’m a bit useless when it comes to cakes and baking, but I’m a great cook - I make a banging curry, ngl. It’s always fun to experiment and make different things and my cooking is famed amongst my housemates for making our flat smell so good! I’ve got four cookbooks in my uni flat alone and every week I’ll honest sit down and go through them and make my shopping list based off what random thing I will make this week.

2. I love to swim! I used to be a competitive swimmer, and I also have a sailing license (small boats without an engine hit me up) and so I’m a big fan of the ocean and water in general. I’m at my happiest when I am near a large body of water, and i grew up like twenty minutes from the coast so currently living inland is weird and strange. I always pick water when people ask where are you happiest or calmest, I reassess my life when I swim.

3. I’m a family gal through and through! I’ve got a super big family - I’m sure I’ve got about 30 cousins on my mums side alone. I’ve always grown up around family and had random aunts and uncles and cousins in my house any given day of the week, and we’re a super close family, too! I think that’s the part I like least about living abroad - my life in Ireland revolves around my family and friends, and so it’s strange to only see them once every few months. I always feel very lucky to have the family I do, they’re a lovely bunch. mostly. but yes, family is at the very heart of who I am 💞

4. ok this is a weird one maybe, but I started writing a story about a group of friends in high school when I started high school, and it’s a story that’s grown and evolved with me as I’ve gotten older - I think I’ve got about 200k worth of random snippets and stories from the lives of these characters on my computer. they’re like my safe space, I always come back to writing them (and so much of it is based off my own life, I have a character who didn’t come out until they were in their twenties like me, etc.) I don’t want to be a writer, so I don’t think anyone will ever read it, but that story is like my biggest comfort in life, i channel my thoughts & feelings into it whenever I need to vent!
