So I asked nonbinary reddit this a while back:
Tumblr media
And they really went all out, here are some of my favorite responses:
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
And of course, the most confusing of all to cis people:
Tumblr media
Link to the original if you wanna see more responses!
Edit: first off, wow I did not expect this to take off like it did, thank you!
Second, this somehow made it onto TERF and anti-sjw tumblr and their replies are just proof they have no sense of humor.

Let’s stop saying “trans people who don’t want to transition” and start saying “trans people who don’t want to medically transition.” Just because you don’t want to medically transition doesn’t mean you aren’t transitioning. There’s a lot of pressure to medically transition to the point that not wanting anything medical done is seen as “not transitioning” and I’m here to tell you that’s not the case. You transition by realizing you’re trans, calling yourself a different name, or different pronouns, or referring to yourself by a different gender, you transition by telling other people to call you by a different name, or gender, or pronouns. Transitioning is not inherently medical, and we need to stop treating it like it is. I didn’t medically transition, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t transition. I did transition, and I’m proud of myself for it.

Being masculine does not make you evil. It doesn't make you an asshole. It doesn't even make you a man... It just makes you masculine.
Masculinity is not exclusive to cis-men.
You can be a trans-man and be masculine.
You can be a cis-woman and be masculine.
You can be a trans-woman and be masculine.
You can identify any way possible and still be masculine.
Masculinity should never be restricted by biology, and it's ridiculous that people think that way. Anyone can enjoy being called handsome and masculine if that is what they want, and there is no shame in that ever.
If you are masculine, no matter your gender, you deserve to be seen, and you deserve respect.

"Being nonbinary is just a fad".
Oh really? Then why have we found Sumerian tablets referring to people who are neither men or women? Why have South Asian cultures included groups of people who are a "third gender", known as the Hijira? What about Two-Spirit people of Native American communities, who have existed for thousands of years? Why have the Bugis, of modern-day Indonesia, considered there to be five genders for hundreds of years? Why were there pre-colonial Hawaiians whose gender identity was outside the traditional binary?
People who are neither entirely men or women have always existed, and we always will. Such existences were simply oppressed by the western world for so long that many of us hadn't heard of them until recently. Being nonbinary isn't a fad - it's a brave embrace of one's true self.

Being queer isn't a "lifestyle".
Being trans isn't a "lifestyle".
Being nonbinary isn't a "lifestyle".
It's an identity, it's something that you cannot change. It is not a choice. It is engrained in a person. It is who they are as a human.

reminder that gender cant be tidied up into some distinctive "men" and "non-men" binary. you are not truly accepting genderqueer people when you use this sort of categorical framing. bigender people exist. genderfluid people exist. nonbinary people who dont even Know if they fall under "man" or "non-man" exists. and various other sorts of gender identities. by defining lesbian as exclusively "non-men" you are ostracizing so many genderqueer people.

Shout out to trans people who change their name a million times before settling on what feels right
Shout out to trans people who pick a name that feels right at the time but then change it again later cuz it doesn’t fit anymore
Shout out to trans people who are worried about changing their name “too many” times
Shout out to trans people with non “traditional” names
Shout out to trans people who go by multiple names
Shout out to trans people who have multiple genders and a name for each
Shout out to trans people who have multiple genders and use the same name for all of them
Shout out to trans people still going through the naming process
You’re all lovely and deserving of respect 🏳️‍⚧️

How different genders react to bathrooms

A study has found that there are around 1.2 million nonbinary people living in the US today.
For reference, 8 states and the District of Columbia have populations that are less than that.
Additionally, given that most people in the survey who self-identified as nonbinary were young and white, it's likely that there are even more nonbinary people within the US, but they don't have the privilege to safely identify themselves as nonbinary.
The next time someone tries to say that we shouldn't bother with gender-inclusive language, restrooms, etc, remind them of this - there are a lot of people whose existence falls outside the gender binary, and we deserve to be treated with basic respect and decency.
