Are you afraid of Scary Bilbo?
Maybe, but ...
Does it change your view of Bilbo's entire character? Does it make you decide Bilbo is evil and corrupt at heart? Does it cause you to deride Bilbo for greed and selfishness in spite of all his heroic deeds?
No?
Then why do you do that to Boromir?
When Boromir tried to take the Ring from Frodo, it was his equivalent to the "HRRAAGHH!!" Bilbo moment.
Think back to the moment when Bilbo at Rivendell asked Frodo just to see the Ring, and in one fleeting instant Frodo saw, not the Bilbo he knew, but "a little wrinkled creature with a hungry face and bony groping hands." The flash of vision scared Frodo so bad he felt a desire to strike Bilbo. Frodo was terrified.
And then the next moment, Bilbo was himself again. The book itself describes the moment thus: "Bilbo looked quickly at Frodo 's face and passed his hand across his eyes. 'I understand now,' he said. 'Put it away! I am sorry: sorry you have come in for this burden; sorry about everything.'"
My friends, this is not that different from what happened with Boromir. He pressed Frodo to show him the Ring, and then became so intense about it that Frodo was terrified Boromir would take the Ring by force. Just like he'd been terrified of Scary Bilbo. Because, just as that was frighteningly not like the true Bilbo, this action was also not like the true Boromir.
Sadly, Frodo did not get the chance to hear Boromir's repentant apology and weeping once the moment of madness had passed. He got to hear Bilbo say, "I am sorry; sorry about everything!" But he did not get to hear Boromir say, "What have I said? What have I done?" nor his confession to Aragorn, "I tried to take the Ring from Frodo. I am sorry."
And what did Bilbo want the Ring for at that point in his life anyway? What would he do with its power? Get revenge on his petty relatives? Acquire riches and pipe-weed to last a lifetime? On the other hand, Boromir wanted the Ring as a final desperate hope to save his city, his home, his family, and his people. Being of a noble heart, he viewed the Ring as the only possible way to protect and defend others. It could be said that he was somewhat selfish and desired glory of his own through his efforts, but then again, wouldn't it be called selfishness for Bilbo to get revenge on the Sackville-Baggins, or store up wealth and riches for himself, or hoard all the pipe-weed he could want? Perhaps he would have had loftier thoughts and intentions to use it against Sauron - but then that would simply be a twin vision to Boromir's.
The point is, no one loses confidence in the character of Bilbo or his true-heartedness because of that one scary moment when he is almost overcome by lust for the Ring. And yet Boromir gets villainized for the same thing.
Say it with me, folks: "Boromir was no more of a villain in his temporary madness for the Ring than Scary Bilbo was!"

Day 25 of Tolkien Doodles!
An Unexpected Comic, Part 16:
Tumblr media
There. There is my singular, government-mandated fullbody panel. I just realized that 80% of this is face shots where I repeat a lot of poses, and I'd like to think I'm a little bit better at composition than that!
Ahhh Bilbo, you sassy ray of sunshine, you!
If this is your first time here, this is for my Hobbit Philharmonic AU, and you can find the master-post here!

My English textbook has a section on fantasy and Tolkien's works and I have so much to say about it
the idiots misspelled Fëanorian and Lothlorien
Whoever gets that textbook from the schoolboard next has a lot of annotations to sift through because I'm not staying silent
"strange alphabet" they have names they're called the Tengwar and the Angerthas
And if I see Bilbo called "a sort of gnome" ever again I am declaring war
When you know things about a topic that AREN'T in the school essay. The foreword where Tolkien says it's not an allegory is specifically stated as the foreword to the second edition in modern printings
When you actually write annotations IN the aforementioned "strange alphabet"
Seeing repeated mentions of Frodo in a school textbook is 100% disarming
"Should fantasy literature be included in an English language program" why isn't it already
Should I annotate that technically Bilbo is Frodo's cousin and not his uncle?
The "Dark Tower" also has a name it's called Barad-dûr by the way
"Houghton Mifflin even published a set of hardcovers" well duh of course I have a set in my bedroom

THE ULTIMATE TOLKIEN BLORBO BRACKET IS COMPLETE!
Your winner is:
Tumblr media
Samwise Gamgee
Congratulations to our dear Sam! And congratulations to our runner up with 49% of the vote: Frodo Baggins! While there was a desperate effort by many (myself included) to get an even 50/50 vote, the Sam love was too strong. He is, officially, the Ultimate Tolkien Blorbo.
In the final round, 2,090 of you voted for Sam, and 2,008 of you voted for Frodo. That’s pretty dang close, to be honest!
Here’s how the brackets went down in the end:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Congratulations to all contestants. All of these characters are the Ultimate Tolkien Blorbo to some of us, so they’re all winners in the end.
If you’re interested in analytics from the ENTIRE bracket, click that readmore below! I love spreadsheets, so I kept stats the entire time. Lots of top (or bottom) ten lists :)
Who got the most votes overall?
The top ten characters who received the most votes TOTAL (not weighted for how many polls they were in) are:
Samwise Gamgee (11,318)
Peregrin Took (9,760)
Frodo Baggins (9,502)
Éowyn (7,795)
Meriadoc Brandybuck (4,870)
Faramir (4,752)
Aragorn (4,406)
Boromir (4,269)
Legolas (3,814)
Gimli (3,302)
Who received the highest average votes?
THIS is the interesting one to me—the average per poll! My favorite bit in here is that Éowyn and Merry DID tie here…
Samwise Gamgee (1,886)
Frodo Baggins (1,357)
Peregrin Took (1,220)
Éowyn AND Meriadoc Brandybuck (974)
Faramir (950)
Gimli (826)
Bilbo Baggins (821)
Elrond Peredhel (782)
Legolas Greenleaf (763)
Aragorn (734)
Who got the least votes overall?
Our bottom ten contenders, eliminated too soon, are the following. Since this list and the average list are exactly the same, but in a slightly different order, I’ve arranged them by average votes and given you both numbers:
Dwalin (87 average AND total; eliminated and never placed on the secondary bracket)
Elladan & Elrohir (138 average, 276 total)
Celegorm (197 average, 394 total)
Morgoth/Melkor (199 average, 398 total)
Bard the Bowman (211 average, 421 total)
Kíli (314 average, 627 total)
Sauron (349 average, 1,047 total)
Galadriel (356 average, 711 total)
Glorfindel (366 average, 1,097 total)
Fingon (389 average, 778 total)
Bracket stats
Here are some numbers I personally find interesting. Maybe you will, too.
Most votes in one round: Round One, with 21,554 votes cast. Makes sense, since everyone was on the bracket still.
Highest participation per poll in one round: Round Five, with 4,278 votes cast for the primary Frodo vs. Sam vote.
Least votes in one round: Round Eight (Second Chance Bracket), which was Pippin vs. Éowyn, only got 714 votes total. It was also the least participation per poll per round.
Average total number of votes per character (entire bracket): 2,783
Average number of votes per character (average per round): 594
Anyway, that was fun! Here’s the entire bracket stats document for your viewing pleasure, if you’re a spreadsheet nerd like me.
Thank you everyone for your participation in this bracket!! It was super fun to host, and tbh I would do it again. If you’d like to see another bracket like this, let me know! Until then, enjoy my regularly scheduled blog nonsense :)

There and Back Again - Eddie Munson x GN! Reader
Tumblr media
Pairing - Eddie Munson x GN! Reader (2nd person POV)
Summary - You ask him to read you a story, and Eddie pulls out one of his familiar favorites he knows you have never read, The Hobbit
Word Count - 1.5k
Warnings - None, literally just fluff and soft nerdiness about this book, I guess potential spoilers for the hobbit but this book was published in 1937 so- also first time I've written 2nd person pov, if I've messed up somewhere just tell me please!
A/N - So I am a big nerd, I love this book so much and knowing that Eddie did quote some lord of the rings I had to write a fic around it, this is also fueled by the fact that me and @uglypastels are convinced Eddie is a massive book nerd
Masterlist - Taglist - Requests are open
Tumblr media
“Eds?” The two of you were sitting on the porch swing that stood against the back wall of his trailer, your feet resting in his lap as you gently swung back and forth. Eddie’s eyes were halfway closed, a half smoked cigarette you had been sharing hung between his lips.
The soft cool summer night air enrapturing both of you as you sat enjoying each other's company. The darkening night increasingly became more and more dependent on the light from the small porch light. Eddie hummed softly in response, his eyes still closed as he used his foot to gently rock you back and forth.
“Can you read me something?” You asked innocently and gently nudged him with your foot to try and edge a reaction out of him. “Please?”
Eddie slyly opened one eye to look over at you, you couldn’t quite put your finger on it but there was something slightly wicked in the look he gave you. “Got anything in mind sweetheart?”
“I was thinking you could pick something.” You leaned forward and tucked his curly hair behind his ear and gave him a quick peck on the cheek. “I promise I won’t complain.”
“Promise?” He cocked an eyebrow at you questioningly and you quickly nodded, letting your head rest against his shoulder for just a moment before Eddie excitedly rushed out of his seat.
You could hear him rummage through his room, trying to find that very specific title he wanted to read to you. Eddie returned after he finally found the book he was looking for. He was grinning like an idiot, hiding the cover so you wouldn’t see what it was. Sitting back down he wrapped one of his arms around your torso, pulling you up to sit against him.
Finally deciding to share the blanket you had been hogging for yourself, carefully spreading it out over the both of you while Eddie opened his book, mindlessly flipping through the pages of it.
“Ready?” He leaned down to whisper in your ear, making a shiver run down the length of your spine, you gently nodded and hummed in response. “Go ahead.”
“In a hole in the ground there lived a Hobbit.” Eddie started narrating to her. His voice was so smooth and calm, he had read this book enough times that he could probably recite it from memory at this point.
You strained your neck ever so slightly to confirm your suspicions, and yes there it was. Printed along the spine of the book Eddie was holding.
The Hobbit, J. R. R. Tolkien
“Really?” You turned in his arms to look at him, you had heard him go on and on about this book ever since you started dating. It was clear this was a favourite of his, and he was shocked to hear that you had never read it.
“Hey you said no complaining.” Eddie pouted at you and couldn’t help but press a quick peck to his lips. “You said  you had never read it, and it is a classic after all.”
“I thought you said this was a kids book?” You couldn’t help but laugh at him
Eddie dramatically faked hurt in his classic flair, clutching his hand over his heart and dropping his head back.
“I will have you know, it is so much more than just a kids book.”
“All right then, go on.” You settled into his embrace, resting your head against his shoulder as he resumed reading. Introducing you to the fantastical world of Middle Earth and Bilbo Baggins.
The quiet calm sound of his voice drowned out the faint buzzing of the cicadas in the summer evening. It was so difficult to stay focused on what he was saying when his voice was as enchanting as it was. It always managed to lull you over, calming your mind and allowing it to drift far far away.
The pages of the book were ever so slightly yellowed, the spine cracked and fraying from the countless times he has read it. Every now and again you could see where Eddie had scribbled down his notes in the margins. The cover slightly bent and creased in places, and  you could swear you saw just the smallest amount of water damage.
Eddie had once told you that the Hobbit is the book that had first piqued his interest in fantasy. Which is what had eventually led him to Dungeons and Dragons. He had picked out the book at a garage sale, the copy already worn and well read, but he did not care. He had been so drawn to the cover, the dragon resting on a mountain of gold coins. An arch of rune like symbols decorating the front. Eddie was immediately fascinated by it, and even more so by the world he discovered between the pages.
The Hobbit quickly lead to reading The Lord of the Rings, but the story about the unexpected journey of a Hobbit was held dear in his heart even now years later.
You didn’t know when it had happened but at one point your eyes had slit shut and your breathing had slowed ever so slightly. Eyes fluttering open as Eddie gently elbowed your side.
“Don’t fall asleep on me, we're just getting to the good part.” Eddie chuckled lightly and pressed a kiss to your forehead, causing your eyes to gently flutter open. “I promise I won’t fall asleep.”
It took a moment for your brain to adjust, to understand the plot that was unfolding in front of you. Dwarves and mountains. Wizards and burglars. Dragons and gold. The Shire, Moria, the Misty Mountain. It all excited you the more you heard.
And it wasn’t long before you started laughing along and finding yourself intrigued to where the story might be leading to next. It could be because Eddie was voicing all of the characters to get a reaction out of you, or it could be because he was correct and the book was actually good. Not that you were about to give him that satisfaction that easily.
But your biggest reaction came when Eddie started to sing, his voice so gentle in the empty night.
“Far over the misty mountains cold, to dungeons deep and caverns old. We must away ere break of day, to seek the pale enchanted gold.”
There was always something magical about when Eddie would sing to you, anything to do with his music he so easily lost himself to it. But this was something else, there was a sincerity in his voice as he sang. These words weren’t his, he had simply borrowed them, yet they felt so familiar in his mouth as he kept singing.
And just as he had started singing he stopped and resumed reading in his regular voice. You had heard him narrate before during Dungeons and Dragons campaigns, but you could tell this was special to him.
Your hands rested against the arm that was draped around you, gripping onto his forearm ever so slightly to keep yourself grounded.
When Eddie stopped reading you couldn’t help but feel the slightest amount of disappointed
Eddie closed the book after he finished reading the first chapter, and you couldn’t help but feel just the slightest amount of disappointment that he hadn’t continued reading.
“So what do you think?” He leaned forward and nuzzled his nose into your hair, gently taking a second to breathe in your scent. “If I read you right you seemed to almost be interested in this kids book.”
Heat rushed to your cheeks and you moved your hands up to cover them, making Eddie laugh. A deep laugh from within his chest, nothing felt more comforting than that laugh.
“Maybe.” You mumbled into your hands, only feeling your cheeks get more read as you spoke. “So you wouldn’t mind if I kept reading?”
“No…” You trailed off and turned to look at him, his dark eyes still shining brightly despite the dim evening light. He was so beautiful, with his slightly flushed cheeks, dark eyes, just the slightest amount of freckles from the summer sun, his messy curly brown hair perfectly framing his face.
“Maybe-” Eddie started, the same shit eating grin he had been wearing earlier returned to his face and you knew you were in for it now. “If you ask nicely… we could go lay down in bed and I’ll read another chapter or two.”
His request was initially met with a soft whine, you closed your eyes and fell forward into his shoulder. “Please Eddie.”
“Please what?” He snaked his hand underneath your chin, gripping it ever so slightly so he could tilt your head back and look into your eyes. “Please can you read me another chapter?”
You looked at him with the biggest eyes you could possibly muster, trying your best to gain his sympathy. Even going so far as to sticking out your bottom lip in a small pout, only earning a little laugh from him.
“How could I ever say no to you?”
“Because, you love me.” You knew it was a rhetorical question, but you answered it anyway.
“That I do.”

He's my Arkenstone- Steddie
Tumblr media
From chapter 1- 'Cafe Latte'
“You're feeling better?”, he heard Steve ask.
Eddie looked up at him to see him point to his neck.
“Oh”, Eddie said. “Yeah. Still stings like a bitch, but compared to killer bats feeding on me alive, it's really not that bad.”
He was aiming for the conversation to go back to its joking rhythm, but Steve's eyes just widened in shock.
“The bites!”, he whisper-shouted. “I completely forgot about them!”
And before he knew it, Eddie had a worried Steve Harrington kneeling in front of him, in the middle of the parking lot, for everyone to see.
“Did the coffee go through the bandages?”, Steve asked, his hands frantically feeling him up.
Well, hello there.
“Did it burn the skin beneath? Are you in pain?”
And because Eddie was too baffled to answer, way too distracted by the sudden sensation of the man's hands on his body, Steve just lifted up (lifted up!) Eddie's sticky shirt, to take a look at the damage.
The damage that wasn't there. It's been around two months since the bats. Eddie wasn't wearing any bandages anymore. So, all Steve got to see was pale skin littered with reddish scar tissue, where the wounds had healed over.
So, that was that. They were sitting there, Steve on his knees between Eddie's legs, holding up his shirt and starring at his torso. Eddie still sitting halfway in the car, too shocked to move, hands still pressing cold packs to his neck and just starring at the man in front of him.
What a sight to see.
“Well that escalated quickly”, Robin's voice appeared out of nowhere.
They both jumped, like they had been electrocuted. Steve falling flat on his back and Eddie hitting his head on the roof of the car.
“Ouch”, he said the second time today, letting himself fall back into the seat and squeezing his eyes shut.
“What the fuck, Buckley!”, he heard Steve's voice. “You nearly gave me a heart attack!”
Eddie put one of the cold packs to his now dully pounding head, and watched Steve scrambling up from the hard pavement. He noticed the way Steve's hand moved to the small of his back, like he was in pain there. Well, falling to the ground after feeling up your friend sure could bring some back pain with it.
Eddie could still feel his skin tingle where Steve had touched him before. And now he had to put the pack from his head to his face, to stop himself from blushing. Not that it worked. He probably was as red as Carrie, when those assholes dumped a bucket of blood onto her.
Somehow his brain falls back onto Stephen King metaphors, most times he gets nervous. Similar to Bilbo Baggins, who always thinks about food, when faced with trouble.
Okay, now that was just his nerd mind, trying to distract himself from the situation. Almost successfully.
“Don't scream at me, dingus”, Robin retorted. “It's not like you two were all that subtle.” She put a hand on her hip, the other still holding on to the cart. “If I must remember you two lovie dovies, it's still the middle of the day and we're on the parking lot of our local shopping market. Which is pretty much the most public place in all of Hawkins.”
She threw up her hands (letting go of the cart) to make clear how done she was with the both of them. “If I can see you, everyone can!” She paused. “Unless that's what you want … then congratulations, I guess.”
She didn't catch the desperate look Steve shot her, because she went off with a yelp, chasing the cart that had decided to go on an adventure, rolling towards a pretty expensive looking Jeep.
Eddie blinked in confusion.
“Uh ...” He looked at Steve, face still partially hidden behind the cold pack. “What was that about?”
Steve was kinda bouncing, like there was suddenly too much energy inside his body that he desperately tried to contain.
“That”, he said a little too loud, his face bright red. “Was Robin being her usual self.” He tried to grin, but it turned out as a painfully comedic grimace. “Namely, being stupid.”
“Okay”, Eddie said slowly, eying Steve skeptically.
What the hell was going on? And did Robin just call them … lovie dovies? Since when was that a word? And how, in the name of everything that was holy and Dustin's mum, did it apply to Steve and himself?
How would Robin even know about Eddie's crush? He never actually told her about it. She knew he was gay, but Eddie had never mentioned his crush.
Well, maybe she had picked it up from all the flirting on his part. Or maybe…? Or maybe?
He stared up at Steve, who was still really flustered and still very bouncing. The red on his cheeks could have been from the sun. But what if it wasn't? What if Steve Harrington had talked to his best friend about … Eddie?
Stupid! Shut up brain! Not in a million years. Not even if he had to choose between you and Vecna!
Even though he mentally yelled at himself for even thinking about the possibility of Steve Harrington actually liking him back, the pounding in his chest indicated that his heart wasn't cooperating.
So. Well. Fuck.

Sooooo, this is a fic that is sleeping on my ao3 account. I paused on it ... a year ago. But my brother finally (FINALLY) listened to me and started watching Stranger Things. So I got inspired and revisited my baby. First chapter is now edited (there are currently 4 out). Idk I felt like showing you some. It's an easy, slice of life like fic. Light, light angst (I know shocker). There is some plot but mostly the gang is just having a good time together.
If you decide to give it a look, be warned. This was my very first fic ever on AO3. It has a few spelling/grammar mistakes and formating is ... weird. The first chapter is now all good. I'll do the others too sometime. (Also I don't expect anyone to read it, I just feel very fond of the fic and wanted to share)✨✨✨

Hi Dan!
What's the thing you like the most about your favorite character(s)?
Hi, friend <3
I think I have different "categories" of favorite characters, but I definitely tend to fall for similar characteristics. Still, I apologize in advance because this will probably be a longer list than expected.
Characters who have a troubled past, or who carry a big mistake that fills them with guilt, but still try to be good and love and help others despite it all: Cassandra Cain, Damian Wayne, Billie Lurk
Characters who are good to the core of their beings. They literally represent the light and hope in a world of darkness: Clark Kent, Billy Batson, Bilbo Baggins (everyone from LOTR, tbh), Hadrian Blackwater
The sad nerds: Viktor from Arcane, Gale of Waterdeep, Scott Free, Bruce Wayne (not the one from modern comics, I want that one away from me, please)
And last but not least.
The kindhearted women who could kick my ass in a second. I have a weakness for those: Big Barda, Selina, Emily Kaldwin, Chloe Frazer, Wonder Woman, Karlach, Éowyn
I normally end up liking the characters who fall in any of these categories (and overlap), so it was fun to enlist them.
I'm sorry, I know I have a lot of favorites. I obviously love ones more than others, but they're all my children xD

Hi hello, here have an excuse to talk about murdoc harfoot-brandybuck of the easterly inn <3
jaz i love you so much you KNOW i have been waiting for someone to send me this EXACT ask. how the FUCK do i explain the character i have been playing for three years now.
so murdoc harfoot brandybuck of the easterly inn is my player character from my friend group's adventures in middle earth campaign (loving referred to as the mirkwood campaign), gmed by the absolutely wonderful @potatoobsessed999. he's very much still evolving, even as we get closer to the campaign's conclusion, as he absolutely has been over the last three years, but i will attempt to describe him, is he is my absolute favorite of my (like two) tolkien ocs, and may very well be my favorite oc of mine of all time at this point.
murdoc, as his name makes apparent, is a hobbit. he has been raised by his uncles and aunt, a family of upper-class inkeepers, as the heir apparent of the family inn. before i knew anything else about who i wanted him to be, or who he was going to become, murdoc was meant to embody the idea of home. he's creature-comfort, he's hospitality in its purest form, he's the maker of stews and the finder of comfortable places to sleep and the brewer of teas. this is the absolute core of who murdoc is: where he is is his home, and who he's with are his people, and he will do absolutely anything and everything to keep it all safe.
when murdoc was about the hobbit equivalent of a teenager, his more adventurous uncle got it into his head that he too should have a great big adventure just like his drinking buddy and idol bilbo baggins, and up and moved the family inn out of the shire and to a northern corner of mirkwood.
when murdoc was about the hobbit equivalent of, say, a human eighteen-year-old, he began to have extremely disturbing prophetic dreams.
so what do you do when you're a foresighted hobbit in the middle of a famously dangerous forest whose aforementioned foresight has every last bit of you screaming that it is now your responsibility to keep this place and everyone in it safe? you join an adventuring party, serve as an emissary of radagast the brown, have a sort of falling out with radagast the brown over realizing that his boss is evil and nobody believes you yet, adopt the ghost of actual maedhros feanorion (who is possessing your best friend's sword, as one does) as your new dad, and do a bunch of arson and protective rage murder as you develop greater and greater paranoia about whether you will be able to see coming the threats you will need to see in order to keep the people you care about alive!!!!!!
some more fun things about murdoc, in no particular order:
yes the fact that his name is Like That is on purpose. he's a pretentious piece of shit who named himself. his name is extremely reflective of the fact that he is just Like That. (also his partner is a huge nerd who got way into hobbit history around the time murdoc was picking his name and it is just as cute as it is stupid)
languages that murdoc speaks, in the order in which he learned them, include: westron, fucking spider, quenya, and sindarin. he has the most perfect most annoying feanorian accent when speaking in quenya. yes, i rolled to determine this.
(in murdoc's defense, he learned quenya because he wanted maedhros to be able to speak his first language with someone, and it was something to bond over.)
maedhros helped a very afraid and traumatized murdoc begin to interface with his foresight by acting as an anchor point for him while dreaming, to help him develop greater control over what he sees in them and to use his foresight on purpose.
murdoc did use the realization that this meant that he can see maedhros in his dreams as an immediate opportunity to hug him ;w;
murdoc's foresight cannot see nazgûl. anna, my beloved gm, has used this for effect emotional and horrific.
murdoc harfoot brandybuck of the easterly inn does in fact introduce himself to everyone he meets as "murdoc harfoot brandybuck of the easterly inn"
this resulted in murdoc being put on the entire-ass council of mirkwood because everyone assumed that this was an important title and the easterly inn must be a small fiefdom
murdoc did not correct anyone about the fact that the easterly inn is very much not a small fiefdom
murdoc has a +13 intimidation, making it his highest stat. i'm not sure what stats our gm gave to @jaz-the-bard for maedhros, but we have talked about it at some point and murdoc's is apparently higher
murdoc has a feat that lets him vanish into thin air. it's not magic or anything. he's extremely not a ringbearer. he's just That sneaky.
has a rivalry with one of The Eagles^tm. over hospitality.
fire motif fire motif fire motif
his primary weapon is an enchanted dwarven bow. he shoots flaming arrows.
lover of a good molotov cocktail to solve all his problems very fast
special interests include teas, cooking, and linguistics!! likes to research all the local plants and come up with tea brews that remind him of people or places, or pair well with certain things. came up with a brew for himself that he only shares with people he trusts and cares deeply for. i do in fact have little snippets for points at which he has shared it with each member of the party.
i did once storyboard an edgy animatic for him to the killers' jenny was a friend of mine. i am still very proud of it, and lament that i cannot animate. or do art at all.
i have been playing this character through a literal global pandemic, the completion of two entire degrees, my first adult job, and literally so much other life stuff. sometimes i think about how long i've had him for and how much he's changed, very organically, in that time, and get entirely too emotional about him tbh.
murdoc operates, i would say, from a very genuine sense of care for others, eclipsed by a rather marked lack of estel. for about the whole three years i've had him, i would say i've felt genuinely none from him, and i did not think it was there.
the last time i played him however, i did.
Tumblr media
anyhow!!!!! this post would not be complete without this lovely art of our party - i don't know that the artist we commissioned is on tumblr, but "hey can i share this?" was met with an enthusiastic "go for it!" so!! on top is my boy, and left to right down are the bearer (@thymo-leonta), déorwyn (@shadowkat2000), ríros (@jaz-the-bard, who also plays maedhros), and ioreth (not canon ioreth jdjdndn, whose player is definitely not on tumblr).
anyhow i love my party and this game and my friends and my stupid murder arson hobbit inkeeper boy so so very much <33333
and thank you jaz for literally just giving me an opportunity to talk about him lmao, get you friends who send you asks about your ocs even though they literally know so much about your ocs >:p <33

Welcome to my blog!
Tumblr media
(All important information is in bold, you can read the other stuff if you want but yeah)
Fandoms: LotR, the Hobbit, Pirates of the Caribbean, Little Nightmares, Shadow of the Colossus, the Last Guardian, ICO, Adventure Time, Hazbin Hotel, Helluva Boss, Back to the Future, BBC Ghosts, Horrible Histories, Bill (side blog for the six idiots posts if anyone’s interested :> @live-laugh-love-the-six-idiots)
✨About me ✨
they/them
british (or more specifically, english)
This is definitely a Tolkien blog
Omniromantic but not romantically involved with men, and huzzah! The jury has finally returned with the case he’s been working very hard on, and has decided after long last that I will NOT be dating men in the future! I do still get crushes on men, for sure, but I do not date them. Everyone give my jury a round of applause! 👏👏 (this will make more sense if you saw my blog intro when the jury was out)
Demiromantic and Aroaceflux.
I follow back all those who follow me, unless your blog is empty in which case I won’t.
if you like blogs about tolkien and potc then you’ve come to the right place because i mainly post about those
Important note: the witch-king is fucking cool and nobody can change my mind on that, although i am pleased to say that nobody has tried
I’m a tolkien-infested nerd and am definitely the “lotr friend” of my friendgroup. I love reading and writing and have finished the Hobbit book and am currently reading LOTR. I love going camping and being in the woods. I love going on hikes and walking my dog. I also spend a lot of my time on my phone watching youtube or a movie or something so basically i spend a lot of my time sat around doing nothing. Although i do love to draw and paint with watercolour. I can sort of play piano too. Sleep is therapy and so is music and my favourite fictional characters. I’m starting to wonder if I’m autistic but I’ve never had a diagnosis so i’m not going to call myself that. I’m a summer > winter person and a pineapple does NOT belong on pizza person too.
I also really enjoy coding
Favourite fictional characters (not in any particular order): Gandalf, Will Turner, Fili & Kili, Toothless, Faramir, Bilbo Baggins, Jake the dog, BMO, anyone that Mathew Baynton plays, Pippin, The Witch King, Doc Brown, Marty McFly, Aragorn, Bofur, Captain Jack Sparrow, Thorin Oakenshield, Eowyn, Boromir, Legolas, Gimli, and Thranduil.
I also use pinterest daily so i guess you could call me a pinterest whore
If you need me i’ll be watching lord of the rings
Any questions for me just ask ツ

about the kin merch:
For Middle Earth I have a lot- thankfully my parents are nerds so they were never bothered by it while I lived with them. Though my fav kin "merch" are these themed loose-leaf tea packets I got. I bought the Bilbo Baggins and Pippin Took ones, and let me tell you what. Carrot cake tea tastes so much better than it sounds. I don't think I've tried to Pippin one yet, but it's nice to imagine that they curated the teas themselves, and gifted them to me. It's very relaxing and gives me comfort during my hobbit shifts

Deal with a demon PLSSS
Thank you!! This is my longest WIP to date; it had just hit 82k and was closing in on the final chapter/epilogue when I realized/decided it needed a major overhaul, hence the DRAFT TWO in the doc title. 🥲 Though the story takes place in a casually supernatural + mundane world and begins with an unintentional Rumpelstiltskin-style demonic bargain, it's much more an accidental-ish roommates, domestic fluff, slice of life, slow burn, strangers-to-friends-to-best-friends-to-lovers, found family sort of fic set in 1990-1991. It also is the story that (so far) makes me the most nervous to think of sharing! Here is a snippet:
“I liked Sweet Valley High,” she says, innocent, and he makes a sound like she’d stabbed him.
“Come on,” he groans, and pushes The Fellowship of the Ring into her hands. “Please, Cunningham, if you listen to nothing else I say, please give them a try. There’s hobbits.”
“Hobbits?” she repeats blankly.
“Hobbits,” he confirms. “You’ll like them. They’re short, like you.” He snickers when she whacks him on the chest with the book, then steals the book back from her.
He flips the battered, dog-eared copy open, clears his throat, and begins to read aloud in a theatrical voice. “‘When Mr. Bilbo Baggins of Bag End announced that he would shortly be celebrating his eleventy-first birthday with a party of special magnificence, there was much talk and excitement in Hobbiton…’”
Chrissy continues to go through his books, packing them neatly away into cardboard boxes. Every now and then, he’ll nudge her and shake his head; those books go into the sell pile. He keeps reading, weaving the story around her like a warm blanket, trapping her into the cozy adventure before she quite realizes what’s happening. It’s only when he stops reading and she looks up, thrown off by the interruption in the story, that she figures out what he’s done.
“Eddie,” she groans. “Now I’m going to be a nerd like you.”
He’s grinning at her. “Think of it instead as releasing the inner nerd that was inside you all along.”

Uuhhg, I followed a handful of fandom blogs because of fun pretty fan art and evidently one of them was a fucking terf and now the Based on your Likes bullshit thinks I need to see rancid takes about menstruation defining womanhood and deadnaming. Fuck you fuck you fuck you and defensive reactionary bullshit. Let me have fun with my nerd shit in peice.
If you need me I'll be hunting through my recent follows figuring out which one of you assholes hides bioessentialist garbage in between pretty pictures of bilbo baggins.

Aulë is unhappy with what is intended to happen to the Line of Durin, Yavanna is unhappy with what is intended for her sweet shirelings, and the Valar as a whole would quite prefer a second chance for a few wrongs to be righted.
