25th September, 2003.
After a long shower at the Miller’s house, you got changed and went downstairs to face them, the same anxiety you always felt when this happened arose in your chest. They were in the kitchen waiting for you, matching frowns on both Sarah and her dad’s face. You smiled tightly at them, grabbing the box of food Sarah held out for you.
“Guys, it’s fine! I can’t stay here forever.” You told them lightly, trying to lift the heavy mood that always fell over the three of you when you had to go back to your own house.
“You could! Couldn’t she, dad?” Sarah asked, turning to her dad and knowing the answer before he even said it.
“‘Course you could, kid. You know you’re a part of the family.” Joel supplied, making it even harder to maintain the certain and confident front you always put on when it was time to leave.
You heard the tires of the truck pulling up outside their house, and the truck door slamming shut as Tommy stepped out, his frown matching Sarah and Joel’s, too. He grabbed the box of food from your hand and put it in the bag on your back, clapping a gentle hand on your shoulder and squeezing as you smiled at him.
“Time to go,” you said, and rolled your eyes with a watery smile as you looked at the sulking expression Sarah wore, “C’mon, Sar. I’ll see you at school tomorrow!”
Nobody responded to your words, and their silence clearly conveyed their thoughts, but what about tonight? You were all aware of how much your family disliked when you stayed at the Miller’s but sometimes, you’d rather face their anger when you returned than any extra time at your own house. Aside from the people who lived there, you also never knew if there would be any water, which is why you always took a shower before leaving the Miller’s. You’d likely be back by this time next week, but it never made leaving easier.
You had once tried to stay at your best friend’s for longer, going on a few weeks, but when you had returned to your house to grab some more clothes, your parents had kicked off. Shouting, screaming, throwing things, the likes. They had yelled in your face that they would call the police on Joel, say he had kidnapped you, was keeping you away from home.
The last thing you wanted was the man who was essentially your own dad going to jail because of you.
It’s better this way, you had decided, because there was no other way. You were lucky your parents let you out of the house at all at this point. Every time you took a bundle of clothes stuffed into the bottom of your school bag you were chancing your luck, but you just couldn’t help it. Staying at Sarah’s gave you the experience of a loving family that you so badly wanted. A warm house, cooked food, and working water didn’t hurt, either.
“Let’s go, kid.” Tommy said, giving you a tight lipped smile. He didn’t want you to go back, either, but neither Miller men were willing to let you walk there. Tommy took you home every time, all of you knowing that Joel was much more likely to snap if your parents showed their faces.
“See you guys later! Happy birthday for tomorrow, Joel!” You waved at Sarah and Joel as you headed out of the front door, throwing a wave behind you and hearing them call out their own goodbyes.
You and Tommy sat in silence for the first few minutes of the drive, before he glanced in your direction, saying, “Listen, if you need anything, give us a call. I’m gonna be out tomorrow but Joel will be about. But hey, you need a bit of extra muscle? I’ll be there.”
You smiled at him, thankful to have such a supportive family who had your back at every turn.
∘₊✧───── ───── ───── ─────✧₊∘
Joel sighed as he gripped the steering wheel in his hand, waiting for his brother to finish up the paperwork he had to sign. When Tommy finally approached the truck, Joel turned to him with a dark look, annoyance clear in the curve of his eyebrows.
“Listen, Joel, I’m sorry!” Tommy told him immediately, reluctantly pulling his seatbelt over his chest and holding his hands up as if he was surrendering. “That fucker said her name and I just snapped, man.”
Tommy must have seen the way Joel’s face dropped, because he felt anxiety warm up in his chest as Joel said your name, his expression telling them both that something was very wrong. He remembered the crease to Sarah’s eyebrows when he had finally gotten home, the way she’d told him that you hadn’t been in school, and she felt like something was off.
“She wasn’t at school today.” said Joel, his eyes almost unfocused as all the possibilities for the why flashed in his mind, he completely missed the way Tommy’s jaw set.
The sound of guns going off in the police station sent both of their heads whirling around in alarm, with Tommy reaching back for the box that was kept under the driver’s seat. “What the…” he mumbled, eyes flashing with the fire that had started across the road. It was when they started hearing the helicopters and dozens of military and coppers swarming the street that the two Miller’s realised something was very wrong. “Shit, Sarah!”

23rd May, 2013.
Your arm was throbbing with pain, and you were sure something was fractured at the least. Not to mention the warm red blood that was dripping down from your shoulder, basically the only thing providing you with any heat in the all-encompassing cold. Or maybe all the blood leaving you was what was making you feel so cold. You weren’t sure.
It was the first time in a while that you had left your QZ, and you were ambitious, aiming to travel all the way to the Boston QZ with as little trouble as you could manage. Of course, you hadn’t counted on the people, the raiders and hunters who tried to kill you to steal all the supplies you didn’t have. You were lucky to make it out alive, really. You hadn’t felt very lucky for a long time.
It had been at least thirteen hours since you were attacked, and you knew you wouldn’t make it much further. Already, you were feeling lightheaded, woozy, like the ground was reaching up for you, but you powered on, seeing the glint of a metal fence up ahead.
The wiring at the top told you that it was electric, which you wouldn’t have been worried about if the buzzing didn’t echo in your ears, meaning it actually had electricity.
You pushed lightly against where there was a gate, a keypad there to unlock it. These days, you wouldn’t be able to bet on it being a simple 1, 2, 3, 4. Clearly, this was somebody’s home, and they didn’t take lightly to intruders. Your head dropped against the metal, the metal warm from the sun, and you were glad that only the barbed wire at the top was electric.
Your luck clearly hadn't lasted very long, as you heard the sounds of two guns clicking, the safety turning off.
“Who are you?” A man’s gruff voice asked, and you moved your head from the fence to look at the man stood at the front, “What do you want?” His striking blue eyes tore through you, looking for any sign of a threat, but you didn’t pose much of one in your current state.
“Jesus, Bill, let the girl in, she’s gonna die out there!” A friendlier voice called out, approaching the two men already stood in front of you.
“Or, she could kill us in here.” Bill said, eyes not moving from where you stood, narrowing as you put your hands up in a motion of surrendering.
Your eyes fluttered for a second, and you nodded at the man, understanding of his caution. “I—I’m just looking to get to the QZ. Boston.” You spoke, voice dry and cracking, having only been used when you had yelled out at the people who had attacked you, and that was hours ago. You were dehydrated, tired, and hurt. “Could you point me in the direction?”
“She’s not gonna make it that far.” A woman, who you hadn't noticed approaching, said, eyebrows raised as she looked from the other newcomer to Bill. A part of you knew she was right, knew that you probably wouldn’t make it another fifty steps of the way, but god, you’d come this far, and you really didn’t want to die.
“Bill.” The man prompted, eyebrows raised as he gestured toward the gate. “Just let her in, you can always… shoot her if she tries anything.”
“And I will.” Bill threatened, glaring at you even as you nodded in agreement.
“I’m not infected,” You supplied, because it was the best you could do, “Got a nasty stab wound, little while ago.”
Bill grumbled, sending the man who was trying to help you back into the town for something, and he continued his annoyed mumbling even as he opened the gate, tapping in a code and holding his gun up to your head as you took a step forward. You stilled, eyes following him as he approached, gun still raised, and held a tester to your neck, only huffing as it flashed green.
“Come on in, honey.” The kind man said, approaching your side and helping you stumble your way into their safe haven. You swayed, even with his help, and he frowned at you.
“You sure about this, Bill?” asked the other man, who hadnt spoken before now. You hadn’t really taken much notice of him, too focused on the people speaking to you in hopes that the world might show you a bit of kindness.
“Joel?” You croaked out, eyes going wide and your legs becoming numb as you stared at the man in shock. The guns immediately rose back up to your face, and they glared at you suspiciously, with the man who had been helping you stepping aside with one look from Bill, even if it was with some reluctance. “Joel— It’s you, I can’t believe it’s really you.”
They all stared at you, none of them daring to speak for a few moments. The woman stared at Joel, trying to communicate with him through eye contact alone.
“She—she fixed it. Didn’t she?” You said numbly, feeling like you were going to pass out, but unable to take your eyes off of the cracked watch that sat on his wrist. Sarah had told you her plan for his birthday, even if you’d never gotten to see it in action, but it was broken again.
Recognition seemed to seep into Joel’s eyes, and his gun lowered slightly. He said your name like a question, like your face was an answer he couldn’t work out.
In a single moment, his gun was dropped to his side, and he surged forward, pulling you into his arms. You held onto him just as tightly, or as tightly as you could manage with your fucked up arm, and blinked away tears as you squeezed your hands together behind his back.
His hand held the back of your head, keeping you close to him as he let out a breath. “Fuck.” He said, the words watery with tears you were sure he refused to let out. “I was sure you were dead. The houses on your street were on fire, I—…” He trailed off, pulling away to hold your face in his rough hands.
You forgot all your pain for a moment, eyes full of tears from something else, something like relief, “I got away, my—my dad was arrested and my mom went to get him. When I got to yours, you were all gone.”
He swallowed guiltily, eyes looking over your grown face. You looked so different, so… you looked like an adult.
You looked around at the town, wondering which one belonged to the Miller’s, “Where— where’s Sarah?”
Joel flinched, hands squeezing your cheeks once more, before he shook his head, looking away before he pulled you back to him once again.
“Oh.” You gulped, swallowing down the grief you had already felt for the Miller’s that rose back up, trying to sweep you away.
“Can somebody explain what the fuck is going on?” The woman asked, the first of Joel’s group to speak up since your unexpected reunion. She looked between you and Joel and the two men, as if one of you could answer all of her questions.
You looked up at Joel, and he felt like he was going to be sick, the memories of you doing that before the world had gone to shit hitting him like a brick to the face. He remembered the way you would smile at him, a grin that matched Sarah’s, like the two of you were born as sisters, and not just chosen sisters.
“I…” You began, stepping out of Joel’s arms to face the group and explain, but that wave of nausea hit you, the adrenaline from finding Joel seeping from your body, leaving you feeling like you were about to step into death’s doorway. “Okay, um, let me—”
Joel stepped forward, and you fell into him, with him picking you up like he used to do with you and Sarah before. It hit him then, with how you were heavier, and how he hadn’t done this for anyone in years, but he still managed.
“I—I’ll explain, after.” He said, the words echoing in your ears as your eyes fluttered, the last of your long-winded fight or flight leaving you as you rested in your dad’s arms, feeling like perhaps you’d wake up in the bed beside Sarah’s, and everything that had happened in the past decade would have been nothing but a dream. “Frank?” He prompted, letting the man lead him to wherever he thought would be best suitable to patch you up.
That sickening feeling crept up on Joel again, the situation being horribly reminiscent of outbreak day, almost like your weight was Sarah’s own, and his shaking fingers being from fear and not shock. He hated it, that the feeling of regaining a daughter was so similar to the loss of his other.
He felt a hand on his shoulder as he followed Frank, and glanced to his side to see Tess, and allowed himself to feel the slightest comfort at the nod she gave him.
Your eyes blinked open, and you looked at him through bleary eyes, “I’ve missed you, dad.” You told him, not missing the heartache in his eyes as he looked at you, but he smiled. It was thin, watery, and barely there, but you saw it.
“Kid, you got no idea.” He sighed out, focusing on getting you fixed up before he could start crying.

Roman Godfrey was spoiled and entitled. Everyone in Hemlock Grove knew that. He was the heir to the massive empire in their small town, so it wasn’t a surprise that he had a sense of entitlement. That entitlement tended to extend to his romantic relationships, too. Roman was often very possessive and jealous over his girlfriends. Most of them liked that, most of them viewed it as hot and endearing.
(Y/N) was not one of those girls.
She and Roman had met through (Y/N)’s best friend, Peter. He was enamored with her the minute he laid his eyes on her, and, secretly, (Y/N) had felt the same way. Not that she would ever tell him that. She had been warned about Roman before she met him. She wasn’t about to give into him so easily; she made him work for it - for her. And he really did put in the work until (Y/N) trusted his commitment to her and agreed to date him.
There was one issue about Roman, though, and that was his jealousy towards (Y/N) and Peter’s friendship. He thought he kept it lowkey, but both Peter and (Y/N) knew. They both knew Roman better than he thought they did. They could see when his eyes darkened whenever he looked at them. They could see his jaw tighten whenever (Y/N) laughed at something Peter said. They could see the way Roman always needed to be touching (Y/N) whenever the three of them were hanging out.
It wasn’t that Roman didn’t like Peter. When it was just the two of them, they were the best of friends. It was Peter with (Y/N) that Roman didn’t like. And that was what pissed (Y/N) off. Peter had been her friend long before he was Roman’s, and long before Roman and (Y/N) started dating. And that’s all they were - friends. There had never been any sort of romantic feelings between them, and there never would be.
That’s why (Y/N) was walking up to Peter’s trailer on her own on a sunny afternoon. He was laying in a hammock, his eyes closed as he soaked up the sun. Upon hearing her footsteps, he opened one eye and peered over at her.
“Where’s your shadow?” he asked.
(Y/N) rolled her eyes. “He’s not that attached to me.”
“He may as well be a wart on your ass, (Y/N). Especially when it comes to me.”
“He’s certainly a pain in my ass,” (Y/N) muttered. “Move over, I want some hammock.”
Peter chuckled and shuffled over slightly. (Y/N) got into the hammock, laying with her feet towards Peter’s head and her head towards his feet. The hammock swayed with the motions before it settled again.
“He doesn’t know I’m here,” (Y/N) said as her body relaxed into the swaying fabric.
“What?” Peter asked.
“Roman. I didn’t tell him I was coming.”
“Is that healthy? Like, for your relationship.”
“I didn’t lie to him or anything. He’s busy with some family shit, so I haven’t even heard from him yet today. If he were to ask, I’d tell him I’m here.”
“And then he’d show up and kick my ass.”
(Y/N) sighed and rested her head back against the hammock. “Do you think he’ll ever stop being so...”
“So Roman?” Peter finished. (Y/N) nodded. “It’s hard to tell. His entire life he’s been surrounded by enablers, or he’s been under the control of his insane mother. I think we’re the first people to treat him like an actual person and not like he owns the world. So either we could help him, or he’ll annoy us both to a point where we can’t deal with him anymore.”
The latter option was what worried (Y/N) the most. She loved Roman, other than his jealousy he was an amazing boyfriend who loved and cared for her so deeply. She didn’t want to lose him, but she knew Peter had a point about if Roman couldn’t control that jealousy. She couldn’t live the rest of her life wondering how Roman was going to react to every guy she interacted with, whether it was friends, co-workers, or just random guys she ran into on the street. And she definitely was not going to be made to choose between Roman and Peter when she had known and been friends with Peter the longest.
She didn’t say anything, but she didn’t have to. Peter knew what she was thinking. It wasn’t the first time they had this conversation.
They fell into a comfortable silence. There really didn’t need to be any conversation. This was the first time in quite some time that the two were able to spend time together and actually enjoy it. So that’s what they were doing: enjoying their time.
The enjoyment didn’t last too long, though, as they heard a car pulling up in front of Peter’s place. Peter’s mom’s car was already in the driveway, so there was only one person it could be. That suspicion was confirmed by a car door slamming and Peter rolling his eyes when he saw whoever it was approaching. (Y/N) huffed out a sigh as she prepared herself for the argument that was undoubtably coming.
“You two look comfy,” Roman commented.
“We are,” Peter responded. “Wanna join? you can lay across us.”
Roman glared at him before turning to (Y/N). “I was trying to call you. Why haven’t you been answering your phone?”
She looked down at her purse where her phone was, which she had left on the ground when she climbed into the hammock. She gestured to it. “It’s too far away for me to reach. And my phone is on vibrate, as it always is, and you know that.”
His jaw clenched. (Y/N) felt her frustration reaching its peak.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were coming here?” Roman asked.
“Well, for one, you haven’t responded to my texts at all today, so it’s not like I’ve even been talking to you today,” (Y/N) retorted. “And two, you don’t own me, Roman. I’m not required to tell you every single thing I’m doing or where I’m going.”
“You do if you’re hanging out with other guys by yourself.”
(Y/N) swung her legs over the side of the hammock and stood up so quickly that Peter nearly flipped out of it. She approached Roman with such ferocity that Roman took a step back before she reached him.
“Let me tell you one thing, Roman Godfrey: I’m done with this jealousy bullshit. I am not your property, I am your girlfriend. You do not control where I go or who I’m friends with. Especially when the person in question is my best friend who I’ve known way before I met you. This dark, entitled rich boy bullshit might work on other girls in this town, but it’s not working on me. If you want someone to put up with that, then you may as well find someone else to be your girlfriend, cause I can’t do this anymore.”
She picked up her purse and put it over her shoulder.
“Where are you going?” Roman asked as she started walking away.
“Anywhere that’s away from you!” she hissed. Over her shoulder she added, “I’ll talk to you later, Peter.”
~~~~~~
(Y/N) was home by herself that night. Her parents had gone out to some kind of function, and had asked if she wanted to tag along, but she told them to go on without her. She felt like she needed some time alone to come to terms with what had happened that day.
Peter had texted her asking if she was okay, but she hadn’t responded. She wasn’t upset with him by any means, as he didn’t even do anything wrong, but she just felt like she didn’t want to talk just yet. When she did respond, it was going to be to tell him she wanted to forget everything that had happened that day and to move on as if everything was normal, minus the fact that she and Roman were no longer together.
Roman hadn’t texted or called at all. She wasn’t sure if it hurt more that he hadn’t, or if it had hurt less.
She was sat in the living room, half paying attention to some movie that was playing on TV, when a knock came at the door. The sudden sound startled (Y/N). She wasn’t expecting anyone, and she knew her parents weren’t either as they weren’t even home. She figured it might be a door to door salesman, or someone trying to talk to her about the Lord, although it seemed too late at night for any of that. Either way, she stood from the couch and went to answer the door.
Standing there, leaning against her doorway, was Roman Godfrey.
“What are you doing here?” she asked him.
“Can I come in?” he asked in return.
“Not until you answer my question.”
“I came to talk to you.”
“You have a phone, which I know you know how to use because you were blowing mine up before you came to attack me and Peter.”
“I wanted to come talk to you in person. You’d be more likely to answer the door if you didn’t know I was coming than to answer your phone if you knew it was me calling.”
Okay, he has a point.
(Y/N) reluctantly stepped aside and gestured for Roman to come in. She closed the door behind him and led him towards the living room. She had been sat with all the lights off before Roman knocked and hadn’t realized just how dark the room had become. She switched on a small table lamp and muted the movie before sitting back in her spot on the couch.
“Your parents aren’t home?” Roman asked.
“No, they’re gone to some gala for dad’s work,” she responded. “Don’t get any funny ideas. We’re not together anymore, remember?”
Roman winced, as if her words had physically harmed him. “Yeah, I know. That’s what I came to talk about.”
He sat down next to her on the couch, but left a respectable distance between them. She appreciated that it seemed like he wasn’t trying to be too pushy towards her or anything, at least not yet.
“Go on then,” she said, waving her hand at him. “Start talking. What was so important that you had to come down from your castle to speak to the commoner?”
Roman scowled at her. “You know you’re not a commoner.”
“Compared to you and your wealth I am. But that’s not the conversation we’re having right now. Whatever it is you wanted to say, say it, and then I’ll decide whether or not I want you to leave immediately.”
Roman sighed and ran his hands through his hair. (Y/N) quickly glanced at the dark brown strands that were between his fingers. His hair was always incredibly soft. (Y/N) always loved to run her hands through his hair and seized every opportunity to do so. She had to look away just as quickly and shove down those painful memories. She couldn’t let herself break and go back to him just because of something so trivial.
“I’m sorry.”
The words shocked (Y/N) so much that she almost physically jumped when he said them. They were words she had very rarely ever heard said with such sincerity coming from Roman’s mouth. She had heard it in sarcastic mutters under his breath whenever his mother chastised him for something stupid, or said to defuse a situation that was getting a little too heated, but this wasn’t in either of those ways. This time, he actually meant it.
“Can you say that again?” (Y/N) asked.
Roman chuckled and rolled his eyes. “I said I’m sorry.”
“One more time.”
“(Y/N), I do have more to say.”
“Yeah, but this is what I want to hear.”
Roman shook his head at her, a smile threatening to break out across his face. “Look, what you said earlier, at Peter’s, you were right. You are my girlfriend, not my property. I shouldn’t have been so possessive and attempting to control your friendship with Peter. I just...every time you two are together, I’m reminded about the fact that you and Peter are close, and that you’ve been close for a very long time. I know that Peter isn’t as much of a prick as I am, some would say he’s an actual nice guy I guess. I know there’s nothing between the two of you, but there’s always been this fear in the back of my mind that maybe...maybe that could change. That you would want Peter more than you want me.”
There was hurt in his big green eyes. His confession surprised her because Roman always seemed so confident in himself. It was one of the first things she had ever heard about him, about how cocky he was.
“Why did you never tell me before?” she asked.
Roman shrugged. “I don’t know. I didn’t want to seem like a crazy, possessive boyfriend. I didn’t realize I had already been acting like that. I actually thought I was hiding it well.”
“Yeah, because showing up to Peter’s place because I didn’t answer my phone is totally not a crazy, jealous boyfriend move.”
He chuckled. “Okay, touché. That was not one of my better moments.”
“None of how you were acting was one of your better moments,” (Y/N) said. “I would’ve much preferred you to have told me how you were feeling instead of bottling them up and allowing yourself to treat your best friend like garbage whenever we were hanging out.”
Roman cringed. “I did treat Peter pretty terribly, didn’t I? God, he probably hates me.”
“You’re definitely not his favorite person right now, but I’m sure you can get back in his good graces by acting like an actual person and not like a jealous piece of shit.”
“What about your good graces?”
(Y/N) thought to herself for a moment. He had come to apologize in person. He knew the way he had acted was wrong, he actually apologized for it, and it seemed like he was willing to make a change. That’s what she wanted, wasn’t it? For him to work on the jealousy and actually change it.
“I think you can get back there,” she said. “You’ll just have to work for it again.”
“I’ll do whatever it takes.”
(Y/N) smiled. She moved closer towards him and unmuted the movie. “You can start by cuddling me and finishing this bullshit movie with me.”
He smiled back at her and put his arm around her shoulder. “I can do that. But why are we finishing the movie if it’s bullshit?”
“Because I’m invested in the bullshit.”
Roman chuckled and pulled (Y/N) towards him. She rested her head against his shoulder and he put his head on hers. He tested the waters by placing a kiss on the top of her head. (Y/N) didn’t argue. Instead, she turned her head to kiss his cheek before settling against him again.
little mess ( bill kaulitz x gender neutral reader )
before you read :
it’s been a long time since I wrote my last oneshot, so don’t be judgy it’s just for fun :3
+ english isn’t my first language
bill is just a needy little whore ^o^
Tumblr media
You give him a light kiss on the cheek and closed the door behind you.
Now he’s alone, alone in the new apartment you guys just moved in together. There are still boxes lying around from the move that haven't been cleaned up yet, but Bill didn't care about the mess. Instead of cleaning up, he waits for you like a lost puppy.
You told him to do it, but somehow you knew that he’s not going to do anything while ur not home.
After only 2 minutes , Bill's eyes became heavier and heavier until they closed and he fell asleep. He slumbers curled up on the couch and lets out a quiet sigh. something happens, his boxers and pants are getting tight, the material is stretching out more and the tightness starts to feel uncomfortable. The black haired boy is dreaming, dreaming about you. About how you’re using him in his dreams.
oh how bad he wants this to happen in real right now. After calmly opening his eyes, hes leaning towards the pillow while lifting his head to have a better sight around.
There it is!! Your shirt you left on the table. Bill grabbed it and started Inhaling the fabric.
He loves the way you smell, it makes him needy everytime.
He removed the old pillow sheet from the couch pillow and puts your shirt on it.
The poor boy can't think clearly, the only thing he wants is you and only you. He wants to feel your hand around his bulge,and your lips pressed against his.
It kills him every time you're not home, so he sits on the pillow and starts rubbing his bulge on it.
With every push forward he lets out a quiet sound, he knew it feels more intense if he removed his boxers but he doesn’t want to ruin your shirt.
His eyes get more foggy and unfocused as his mouth falls open, and tightness his grip on the fabric of your shirt, while pushing his hips more desperate on it.
God how good it feels, but his boxers prevent him from getting the full and intense feeling.
Like a dog in heat he removes his boxers, and starts humping the pillow with his bare dick rubbing against it.
Quiet whimpers come out of his mouth as he tries to be as quiet as possible, he is paranoid that the neighbors will hear him while he is alone.
He feels the orgasm getting closer and closer, and desperately rubs his dick against the fabric with more pressure like a braindead stupid dog. He only has you and your scent in his mind.
The thought of him using you brings him closer and makes him moan your name out loud.
With a loud moan, he ruins your t-shirt with his cum and falls onto his side, out of breath.
He guiltily tries to clean your shirt with his tongue, still too much in his headspace to be logical not knowing he makes an even bigger mess like that.
You came back home after 15 minutes, yes it was only 15 minutes but for Bill it felt like forever.
you see him desperately on the couch, trying to clean your shirt.
He turns his head and stares at you with big glassy eyes.
Ashamed, he hides his head under the blanket, that lies next to him on the couch as you come closer to him.
“i know you want to be treated like a pretty doll, but how can I do such when you don’t behave like one?”
You say in a quiet, light voice as you caress his thighs.
“awhh you missed me too much? you couldn’t hold back, right?”
You smile a little and removes the blanket off Bill's head to give him intense eye contact.
“what should we do now about the mess you made?”
2009, Six years after the apocalypse started
You were in your late-20s when you wound up lost & alone. Your dad was a conspiracy theorist before the outbreak & he kept you safe. You lived in a bunker in the middle of some random forest. Everything was fine, you were as happy as one could be in a zombie-infested world. Well... you were until your dad didn't come back from hunting. After a week, you went outside. The color assortment that filled your vision had you borderline overwhelmed. While taking in the view, a guttural sound hits your ears. You turned to see your father, infected & staring at you like a starving predator.
"No," you muttered, there was no way he could've been bit, right?
Your denial was ripped from your body when he began to run at you. You screamed & sprinted off, out of the forest. As you ran, a fence slowly came into view. Safety? You beelined towards your possible safe haven, barely taking note of the tripwire on the floor. At the last second, you jumped over it & kept running. You continued running until a gunshot went off. you quickly stopped & raised your hands above your head.
"I'm not infected!" You yelled, gulping & closing your eyes.
The fact that the sounds of your assailant had stopped made you turn your head. Your father, or what was left of him, lay dead on the floor. A bullet hole on either side of his head.
"It's just a stray infected, Frank!" Bill shouted from behind you.
No sudden movements, they'll shoot, "I'm not infected! Please, I need help."
"Turn around!"
You turned slowly to face the man. He was tall, 50s maybe older, the more important detail was the large gun pointed at your head.
"That's a hunting rifle, my father loved to hunt," you tried to find common ground.
"Where is he now?"
You nodded behind you. Bill slowly leaned to the side to look past you & kept a poker face, his boyfriend did not, "You poor thing."
"How are you alive when he's...?" Bill trailed off.
"My father was a prepper, I just got home from college graduation the day that things went to shit. This is my first time seeing a color other than gray in years."
"When did you last eat?" Frank yelled from behind the fence.
"Five days ago."
"Oh my god, Bill, let them in!"
Bill seemed very upset, "Hold your horses. You, stand still & keep your arms in the air."
Bill pulled out a cordyceps scanner & held it to your head. You know you weren't bit but you still were afraid it would show red. The device beeped & Bill gave it a cursory glance before nodding towards the gate. You two walked back & into the gated town.
Frank directed you to the shower & laid you out some of their clothes for the meantime (They totally take you to the boutique later). As much as Bill wants to kick you out immediately, Frank convinces him otherwise. You eat a meal & cannot stop completing Bill's cooking. As soon as you finish, Frank asks you to sit on the couch while he talks to Bill.
"We have to let them stay, they're practically a child!" Frank whispered.
"No, absolutely not. We do not have to do anything to help them."
"Okay, Bill. We don't need to. I- I want to," Frank hesitated with his words, knowing no matter what, he'd upset his boyfriend.
"They could hurt us."
"They don't want to!"
"You don't know that!"
Frank grabbed Bill's arm & led him into the living room. You were curled up in a ball & fast asleep. Bill's eyes softened for a moment, he knew he wouldn't win this argument.
Bill was cold around you initially, but he grew to care for you. Frank, on the other hand, practically babied you. He wanted to do everything for &/or with you. He would style you, go on runs with you, teach you how to garden & paint, whatever made you happy. You quickly became something like his own child. You tried your best to learn from Bill, thinking it would allow you to be closer. Boy, were you right. When you asked him to teach you how to hunt he wanted to sign the adoption papers right there (if there were any). Although you were a full-grown adult, it became an unspoken thing that you were their child. You thought you wouldn't see another human until one day you heard your fathers fighting outside.
"Well, I've been talking to a nice woman on the radio!" Frank yelled (I'm too tired to find the exact lines).
There was a pause, "YOU WHAT?!"
Within a couple days, visitors appeared at your gate. The three of you walked up to the gate, all dressed nicely. The only thing that reminded you that you were in the apocalypse was the fact that a gun rested at your hip & another was pointed by Bill, right at the visitors.
"Please put the gun down, Bill."
"It's me, Tess! I brought my friend Joel like I said!" The woman yelled.
You became distracted by the man for a second. He was tall & dressed in a nice brown jacket & jeans, a gun holstered on his hip as well. He's smart. Frank let the two in & scanned them to keep Bill sane.
"They're healthy, Bill!" Frank turned to you, "Y/N, take Joel to get some vegetables for lunch. It'll make cooking lunch easier for your father. I'm going to show Tess around."
"Alright," you spoke quickly, desperately trying to hide the fact that hanging out with this handsome stranger excited you.
Joel gave you a soft smile as he walked towards you. Unbeknownst to you, Tess saw your cheeks flush as you looked up at her friend. She gave an unseen glare in your direction before Frank whisked her away for a tour. You lead Joel to the main garden, filled with vegetables.
"So... they're your fathers?" Joel tried to start a conversation.
"Well, you know, not biologically. They took me in last year & kind of... adopted me."
"Aren't you an adult?"
"Twenty-nine, yes. I don't care, it's nice to have a family in these times."
"I guess you're right."
You two knelt down next to the garden to pick some carrots.
"Is Tess your...?" You began, seeing if you even had a chance.
"It's complicated, I guess, no."
"Oh, I'm sorry to pry."
You both reached for the same carrot & you grabbed Joel's hand on accident. You jumped & apologized profusely.
"Hey, Y/N, it's okay," hearing his deep, southern voice say your name sent chills down your spine.
"We- We should pick some lettuce or something, I don't know."
"You don't have a list?"
"No."
"Lettuce it is."
The two of you picked vegetables for a while longer & Joel offered to carry everything back for you. Arguably, a good thing for two reasons. One, you didn't have to waste your strength. Two, you ended up falling flat on your face & not one vegetable was harmed. Your leg caught on a root of an overgrown tree & you hit your head on the sidewalk. Your consciousness level was unstable at best, Joel set the vegetables down & picked you up.
"Bill! We need some bandages!"
Joel opened the door & brought you into the dining room, setting you down in a chair. Bill entered the room & saw you hurt.
"What happened?!"
"They fell while we were walking, hit their head on concrete."
Joel lightly pressed a towel to your forehead, "We're lucky, no broken skull. Can you get some bandages?"
Bill left & returned with a first aid kit & pulled out some rubbing alcohol, pouring a little onto your cut. You winced & Joel's hand darted to yours, offering you comfort through reassuring squeezes. The two men wrapped your head in some bandages & brought you random snacks.
"Feeling any better?" Joel was still holding your hand.
"Yes, thank you. I'm such a klutz sometimes."
"Well then, I think I need to come back more often to make sure you don't hurt yourself," Joel gave you a small smile before looking down at your hand.
Tess & Frank walked through the front door talking about possible trades. Tess had picked up the basket of vegetables that you two had left behind.
Frank noticed you in the kitchen & rushed to your side, holding your face with both hands, "Y/N, what happened?"
"I'm fine, I just tripped again. Joel bandaged me up & stopped the bleeding," You spoke softly & gave Joel's hand a squeeze to say 'thank you.'
"Thank you, Joel, you don't even know how much this means to me," Frank stood up & took the vegetables from Tess before heading to the kitchen, "Keep them safe, I'm going to help Bill in the kitchen."
Tess looked down at your & Joel's hands then held eye contact with Joel. She directed a glare at her friend. Joel looked at the floor & quickly pulled his hand from yours. You looked over at Joel only for him to stand up & walk towards the kitchen.
"I'm going to see if they need help in there."
With that, you were left alone with Tess. She seemed nice, but you managed to miss all her looks & just thought something was up with Joel.
"Joel & I are together," Tess finally broke the silence, crossing her arms.
Well, now you didn't want to be a home wrecker, "Good for you two."
"Get the hint, kid. It means back off."
"I'm not a kid."
"Oh shut the fuck up, Joel is at least ten years older than you. You're practically a baby."
You paused to figure out how to word this, "Look... I don't want to cause any problems. Joel told me there was nothing going on between you two. Plus, we met maybe half an hour ago, nothing was happening."
Tess dignified your response with a nod before sitting down. You two sat in silence for a moment. You heard a lot of metal clinking coming from the kitchen.
"Y/N! Come help Joel!" Frank yelled.
You entered the kitchen to see Joel on his knees picking up a pile of utensils. How did he manage this?! You knelt down beside Joel & began picking up all the utensils. Once they were collected, you handed them to Bill & Frank to wash. They, in turn, trusted you two to bring out the plates & glasses.
"Don't drop them this time, Joel," Frank teased.
The two of you walked outside & began setting the table. Tess sat on the porch & watched you.
"How'd you end up dropping everything, that looked like you emptied the whole drawer," you laughed.
"Your father, Frank, stepped away from the sink at just the right time to bump into me as I was heading outside with everything."
"Well, maybe you need me to make sure you don't hurt yourself either," you teased, giving him a light jab to the arm.
Joel looked down & smiled, "Yeah, maybe I do."
"Joel! Come over here, I need to talk to you about the trade deal we're making!" You two finally noticed Tess on the porch.
Joel gave you a soft smile, maybe saying he was sorry to leave again, & ran off toward Tess.
Joel & Tess chatted on the porch while you finished setting the table. Every time Joel would unknowingly turn his attention to you, Tess would do her best to pull his attention back. She was growing annoyed each time you'd walk by, drawing his eyes to you. Still believing the two of them were in a relationship, you resisted the urge to touch his arm or pat his head as you walked by each time, simply to remind him you were there. Not like he needed you to remind him anyways, he was doing pretty good at that by himself.
Lunch was short, Bill kept a gun pointed at Joel for a while, much to your & Frank's chagrin. Frank decided to show Tess something & left you with Joel & Bill. You continued to eat your food as the two of them spoke.
"If my," Joel paused & looked at you, "If I had a partner that did this, I'd be upset too."
You were genuinely confused & hiding it didn't even come to mind. Joel placed his hand on your arm, pulling your focus back to him.
"Something on your mind?" He chuckled.
I shouldn't bring it up, "It's nothing."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I'm fine."
Frank had decided it was too late to let your visitors return home, they had to stay the night. After dinner, you took the dishes & began washing them. You could hear the conversation, even with the door closed.
"Alright, Y/N can share their bed with one person, the other can have the couch in the living room."
Joel practically jumped the gun but did his best not to sound excited, "I can share the bed with Y/N."
Tess looked shocked. Frank looked at Bill with a knowing smile.
"I-I mean, I'm too tall for that couch. It would be uncomfortable. Tess would fit, right Tess?"
"Yeah, you're right."
You walked back into the dining room & Frank asked you to show Joel to your room. You avoided eye contact with Tess & walked toward your room, the only thing implying Joel was following you was the sound of heavy footsteps. You arrived & opened the door, allowing Joel to walk in first. He silently admired your room while you hopped onto your bed. It was getting late so you were already on the verge of knocking out.
"Ready for bed?" You asked with a yawn.
"Just about," Joel spoke as he saw you bury yourself in the covers.
"It can get pretty cold in here at night, but maybe with the two of us it'll be tolerable."
Joel took off his shoes & climbed into bed next to you. Your comforters were softer than he'd felt in years.
"Oh my god, this is so much better than the QZ," Joel turned to face you & the reality of the situation hit you like a truck.
Your face was extremely red now. You were sharing a bed with this stranger you just met, who may or may not be in a relationship, & you have a huge crush on him. His face was close enough to the point where you could feel his breath.
"Are you & Tess together?" You felt like a broken record.
"You already asked that," Joel chuckled, pulling more of the blanket on top of him.
"Well, Tess said you were together."
"I guess, together in the sense that we came here together (This himbo lmao), but we aren't dating."
"Oh, she seemed upset when she saw us holding hands."
Joel let out a huff, "Alright, Tess & I... we had a thing. I don't know, but it's over now. It does feel weird trying to flirt with attractive strangers in front of her."
Joel looked up with a small smirk, as if you could become any redder.
"You- Wait, you were flirting with me?"
"Maybe a little," he teased.
"I like you, Joel."
Joel placed wrapped a hand around your waist & pulled you close, "I like you too, Y/N."
Joel looked down at your lips then back to your eyes. You seemed to finally catch on & nodded, bringing another small smile to Joel's face. He closed the gap between you two.
A/N: Not my best work but I'll edit it at some point. I forgot about the Ellie bit but I can make a part two or another one-shot. Tada!
vincent de gramont x assistant!reader: if my wishes came true it would've been you | a glimpse of the marquis.
Tumblr media
plot: the one where the marquis isn’t so sure about you.
warnings: stalking, slight mention of violence, more stalking, staring, soft ooc marquis, invasion of privacy
masterlist
Tumblr media
vincent de gramont. the marquis. unforgiving. determined. capable.
he is a man that exudes power by simply waving his hand or by the snap of his fingers. he does not need anyone. not when he has all the power and influence of an entire country. all he needs is himself, no one else. people are a liability, because of what we can feel for them. the moment you let them in. you start to do things that you shouldn’t, but you do it anyway for the mercurial high of their company. but in fact they don’t bring you up, they bring you down. of course, the marquis doesn’t do such practices, he can’t risk such vulnerability, if he is vulnerable then he is weak and the world be fucking damned before he let’s what he feel for someone tear him down.
a pessimist mindset. yes but why does it matter? he can’t even name someone who cares for him, at least someone who isn’t paid to do it. they don’t want his company, they want his money and power that he exercises over this world. the men want his coin and the women want the same or a night of pleasure, he might welcome that invitation if he isn’t busy enough.
there are three kinds of people in the world. those who have something to live for, those who have something to die for, and those who have something to kill for.
“oh, oh…poor vincent de gramont. who would search for him if he went missing? who would mourn his rotting corpse as it’s buried six feet underground?”
a mockery and threat of a rising drug lord when he had refused the terms of a deal. it annoyed him, as much as he didn’t expect it to get into his head. because why would he need to have that? soon he had the fool’s tongue pulled out by one of his men, he doesn’t let such insignificant things occupy his mind. but to answer his question there is one who would.
his assistant. that’s who, mildly amused with that thought. if i paid her more than enough my procession would be like the queen of fucking england. ironically, because his assistant falls into the three kinds of people and wants his money. at least she actually works for it. for once, the wages he’d given were actually worth her value, they weigh the same in a scale and he doesn’t feel forced to pay her that much because she gets the job done with exquisiteness.
when he’d first hired her, he thought she might be too good to be true. either she was a bragging and incompetent woman or a vying fusspot whose words are truthful. he doesn’t mind a perfectionist as long as she gets the job done. however good she might portray her character to him, he was still cautious around her.
this could be a calculated spy sent out take everything from me. if so, she might as well bloody think again. no one can rob me of what’s mine.
possible threats imagined or real must be carefully and quickly dealt with. so the first two months she works for him, he keeps his eyes on her. he has her followed to her home, which isn’t so bad but not really to his taste. but since she rarely gets home to manage personal matters with the endless pile of work he’s tasked her with there’s not much to be reported to him. just the mundane life of his assistant and her cat. he also has her background checked and it’s nothing malicious, truly just someone whose motives are sincere and harmless.
but it’s not enough. there has to be something. when she isn’t in her home, she’s in his mansion. the lavish and spacious place that always seems to awe her.
2:00 AM
a pair of guards open the large decorated chunky door for him, he struts through. quite exhausted from his previous affair that took several hours, something about an assassin getting out of the fold. he checks his watch and a slight scowl appears on his face, annoyed that meeting has taken too long for a good night’s sleep. he had a big day tomorrow, hordes of meetings and an opera in the afternoon. he’ll have to get up early if he wants to witness the entire spectacle.
“bring the car tomorrow around 6 AM and move the meeting with Allaire around-” vincent orders but pauses when he realizes the click of your heels were no longer heard in his ears.
he turns around and sees you motionless. you were occupied with gazing at the new painting that had arrived earlier that morning. he could sense the gears in your head turning, taking in the artistic beauty of the masterpiece. he wonders if just like him you appreciate historic works of art that preside in The Louvre or perhaps you like a more architect approach-
christ. what is he thinking, he’s not even sure of who they are and he’s interested in a pastime she might have? he swallows that thought down and buries it behind his mind.
by the sudden snap of his fingers, he snaps you out of your gaze. you face him rattled and a slight worry occupies your face when you realize you’ve been caught slacking.
“i’m so sorry sir. that won’t happen again, what time did you want the car brought?” you immediately apologize, saving your excuses from him. still bashful from the ogling you’ve done, you don’t meet his stare.
he knows you’re just as tired as him, you’ve been stuck with him for the entire day, organizing his schedule and arranging appointments. he decides to not chastise her for the momentary indolence and let it pass. although he is partly pleased you still try to keep your wits sharp and alert. christ, what in the world is he saying? it must be the lack of sleep, yes that’s it.
“bring the car tomorrow around 6 AM and move the meeting with Allaire around 7:30 AM. lastly, get up early. i have an important matter for you to attend to.” vincent says again, much more firmly this time with a harsh tone, a slightly futile attempt since his voice partly falls flat from fatigue.
“yes sir.” you answer straight away, jotting down what he just said into that little purple notebook.
he turns away from you and walks away to his room.
he has her spied in the mansion. every movement she makes in his home is reported by the guards and staff. rather unfortunate with the latter, since you’ve grown close with some of the staff and half of them inform you of your activities. what they’d reported was not what he was looking for. just filled with casual personal stuff and ventures he’d ordered you to do.
with all that extensive efforts settled, he feels somewhat assured that she won’t turn against him. now he just needs to keep her on his side, and to sense any form of betrayal that might cook while she’s in his employ. he instructs his men to halt from following her home but still let’s the staff inform him of her bustle from time to time. how does he keep her on his side? pressure and observation.
he gives her labors that are sometimes beyond her pay grade and leaves her alone to do it. it confounds her, very much. they both know this is not what they’d agreed to but surprise, surprise. she delivers as ordered, little to no flaws. he observes her reactions, to see if a recipe of hatred was cooking in the cauldron.
he keeps his eyes on you. the both of you just got out from a meeting with a drug lord that had rather difficult terms and conditions he wouldn’t agree to but he entertained them nonetheless for the sake of testing you. since the job fell on you to deliver those terms and conditions.
you keep writing down notes on that journal, he reads some of what you’ve written which are familiar to him.
“huh. still not faltering are you? i wonder when you might raise this matter.” he thought.
your posture is not as perfect as it had been when you greeted him earlier in the morning. the late night seems enough explanation for that. the inside of the car is quiet except for the engine of the car and the rustling of your pencil on paper.
ever since he started giving them to you he hadn’t heard a word of complaint. he’s not really sure what he expected. a bitch fit about how you can’t do it? a conversation about raising your salary? a rant about how he’s being unfair? he’s dubious about the result he was searching for but he should know. he is the marquis. everything must have a reason, had he expected all three so he might have a reason to fire you? maybe. but why would he fire you? you’ve proven yourself capable and competitive. there is almost no one to your like, only a fool would do that. why does he want to get rid of you for no reason?
perhaps it’s because of what you do for him. he knows you’re in it for the money but…but that unwavering loyalty you’ve offered up to him. does it mean more? or is it just something he’s paying for? an even exchange for the both of you. god, prostitutes seemed easier to handle than this, at least with them he knew their motives but with you…he can’t. you’re background is as pristine as water and everything you’ve done is to further his power. what had he done to deserve it? maybe it is true, maybe. there is no amount of money that can give that level of loyalty, even his highest paid employees and previous assistants weren’t even that good. oh, why? why,why,why,why-
why do you look at him as if he’s the rarest thing on earth? why do you follow him blindly with no hesitation? why do you listen to his words clinging to them as if it’s good as gospel?
he snaps out of his inner turmoil and notices that you’ve looked up at him. you’ve caught him staring, he’s slightly abashed because he’d been vulnerable with himself for a moment, and it’s because of you. for a minute he thought you might’ve been genuine to him, that everything you do is because you want to, not for any materialistic gain. he doesn’t show his disappointment. he keeps his face plain and cold and turns away from you, facing the window. he can see the glass pyramid from The Louvre, his mind begins to drift.
you gullible fool, there is no one in this world that can give you that. you know this-you know this. why do you still yearn for that? there are three kinds of people in the world. those who have something to live for, those who have something to die for, and those who have something to kill for and you are not one of them. no matter how much you want it you cannot be one of them. you are the marquis. you are the marquis. you must be untouchable. what you feel cannot be weaponized against you. do you understand? she does not feel anything for you. there is nothing but you and yourself. in the long run, she won’t matter. when you’ve grown more powerful than today what she’s given to you will be nothing but specks of dust.
that’s how he viewed you. after those two months, he treats you the same with no efforts that may seem arbitrary an attempt to veil what he’s felt for you. keeping it professional you might say, he screws it through his head, that he doesn’t matter to you, that it doesn’t mean more.
one day it changes.
almost two years after that car ride to The Louvre.
you take a bullet for him.
but you take much more than that.
Tumblr media
author’s note: welp, that’s part three! i found it difficult to choose which pov for part two, idk if I should keep the marquis’ thoughts ambiguous or just throw this in. I had this dilemma in class and decided to go for reader’s pov, it turned out nice anyways feel free to share your thoughts!
fly away on my zephyr (bill weasley & reader)
Summary: You and Bill discuss your post-graduation plans. (1.06k words).
Tags: fluff, Bill being a cutie
A/N: I am so bad at answering requests (I promise I see them and I think about them daily). But I wanted to write this one to break things up a bit. We love Bill Weasley around here, and especially Bill Weasley fluff.
Tumblr media
FLY AWAY ON MY ZEPHYR (B.W. & READER)
“(Y/N)!”
Bill Weasley dismounted his Nimbus, feet gliding over the grass before effortlessly stepping down with one foot. He swung his long leg over from the other side, and commanded the broomstick to his palm.
It’d been a year since you began dating and you couldn’t wrap your head around how Bill was so cool and perfect. Head Boy, top of his class, well-mannered, athletic, handsome, committed. You thanked the stars every night that he was your boyfriend. Yours, all yours.
As your Bill approached, your friends giggled, taking it is a cue to leave you alone. One of them whispered, “Have fun with Bill!” before catching up with your other friends.
Bill sped up the last couple metres, his long legs turning what was a jaunt for most people into a jog. Before you could react, Bill swept you up in his strong arms. A gentle spring breeze swept over the courtyard, the smell of flowers sweet but Bill’s embrace even sweeter. The same wind blew away a long strand of ginger hair to reveal a metal stud on Bill’s right ear. Definitely against the dress code, but even if McGonagall saw it, you reckoned she’d turn a blind eye.
After all, it was your last day of your last year at Hogwarts.
The ceremony wrapped up earlier in the day. Gryffindor had won the House Cup and Bill and his teammates fancied themselves one last game of Quidditch to celebrate. You knew he was going to miss the field and the glorious memories he made there.
Bill gave you a peck on the cheek and set you down. He wanted a little more than that, but he also wanted to maintain some propriety so as to not embarrass you in front of your friends. Bill then took your hand and walked with you across the field.
“You’re still going to Alfie’s party, right?” Bill asked, leaning down to look at you.
“I wouldn’t miss it.”
“You best control yourself then, we wouldn’t want to miss the train tomorrow.”
“I—what?” you stammered. “I can control myself just fine! If I’m remembering correctly, you were the one I had to try to carry back that one night.”
“What?” Bill chuckled. “That never happened.”
“Oh, it so did,” you giggled. “I’m sure Filch was peering angrily from above the staircase. He’ll recall it for you.”
Bill made a face. “No, thank you. There are some people I won’t miss.”
After a moment of silence, Bill’s face quickly shifted into a still, more serious one. “And (Y/N),” he started. “I promise we’ll talk more about my job offer after tonight, alright? I don’t want it to spoil the mood.”
Bill clasped his other hand over yours, engulfing it. You fought the quiver of your lip and nodded.
Tumblr media
Miraculously, you and Bill both survived the tell the tale the next morning. The party was wild, rife with unsanctioned alcohol, and Alfie spent most of the night poking at Bill, joking he was going to rat him out. Bill shook his head, asking Alfie how he was going to snitch on him if he himself was indulging in extra-potent whiskey, and stayed by your side for most of the night.
After Bill ensured everyone had boarded the train, he led you to his own compartment—Head Boy privileges and all—giving you some much needed privacy. The Hogwarts Express flew through the Scottish highlands, the grass tinting the windows green. Bill watched you watch the mountains from beside you.
Bill’s hand found its way to your thigh, drawing your attention to him. “I thought about it, and I accepted the offer.”
You nodded in encouragement and weakly, you responded, “As you should.”
Another reason you loathed graduation was because you wouldn’t be able to see Bill everyday. Heck, he wasn’t even going to be on the hemisphere as you. Maybe you should’ve savoured having breakfast with him in the Great Hall everyday, laughing as he dotted ketchup on your nose. Carried your cauldron for you because it was too heavy. Waved to you as you admired him in the Quidditch stands. Wrapped his coat around you leaving the snow-covered grounds of Hogsmeade.
“(Y/N), I know it’s not going to be easy for us,” Bill said with a frown. "That's why I was hesitant."
“No, Bill,” you said. “I’m so proud of you. Being employed at Gringotts is difficult enough, especially straight out of school. And a curse-breaker? In Egypt? There’s no one but you who could accomplish something like that. This is going to be huge for you.”
“I know,” Bill admitted. He bit on his lower lip. “This job is something I’ve always wanted. It’s truly a dream come true, but I keep thinking about the distance I’m putting between us.”
“The distance isn’t the main thing on my mind,” you corrected.
“Then what’s on your mind?” Bill asked.
“Bill,” you whimpered. You've had nightmares about Bill disappearing in some dune or losing his way in a sandstorm. And a stupid one where he was abducted by camels. “You’re going to die.”
Bill laughed. “I’m not going to die, (Y/N). That’s a little dramatic, even for you!”
He gave you a peck on the lips. “You may die of boredom at your desk job at the Ministry, my love, but I assure you I’ll very much be alive.” Bill squeezed your waist. “I’ll be back in England every holiday and a couple weeks in the summer for vacation. I told the goblins that that was non-negotiable. And I want you to come visit me in Egypt whenever you can.”
You perked up. “Really?”
“Of course!” Bill affirmed, like any insinuation of you not being there was unthinkable. “You’re worth more than any treasure I might find. I refuse to lose you because of this.”
You blushed at Bill’s words. He’d clearly thought all this through and worked out every possible kink before accepting the job.
“I love you, Bill,” you whispered in his ear. “I can’t wait for you to come back.”
One of Bill’s hands found yours, and his thumb kneaded little circles below the knuckle of your ring finger, as if he could alchemize some imaginary metal and diamond to give you. But this, this would have to do for now to vow his dedication to you.
“I love you, too, (Y/N).”
synopsis: You are giving the band a tour around the city in L.A your hometown. Something is wrong with Bill as you guys explore. You take them back home and talk to Bill in private. (2007)
Content: Fluff.
Notes: I know I do head canons on this page but I couldn’t help it. This short story is on my Wattpad account if you guys are interested. It’s one of my favorites I wrote so I hope some of you enjoy it!
°  . ● . ★ ° . *   ° *  .  :  :●.   *° :●.   * °
Hold onto me
Bill was coming to my house for the first time before Tokio Hotel has to perform. I never thought to invite him since he was busy in Germany and this is only their second to third visit to America.
He seemed to enjoy Los Angeles and fell in love with it. I took the band everywhere to try new foods and sightseeing. We walked along a street of stores and Tom was running down the sidewalk with me as we hid from behind a bush to scare Georg. Gustav laughed when he saw Georg's reaction. But Bill stood to the side just looking around.
"Hey, you okay?" I ask him putting a hand on his shoulder.
"Yeah, I'm just taking everything in. But I want to see more." He looked at me and smiled.
I could tell he was feeling a bit overwhelmed but I let it be for now. I was walking behind Tom as we continued out to look at the stores. But I tripped on his pants from behind.
"Oops..."
"Don't even." Tom glared. I just laughed.
Bill was behind us as we laughed at Tom. I turn around and he was slowing down. I go up to him and hold his hand. He gave me another smile and squeezed my hand.
We went into a shop to look at some clothes that seemed to be the style that Bill liked or stuff he can make himself. He searched through them with a happy face. It was a good idea to distract him. I didn't know what was wrong with him but ill figure it out once we go to my house.
I heard a ringing from my phone all of a sudden.
"Hello?" I answered.
"It's Mom Y/N, are you guys almost home?"
"Yeah, I'm just showing them what's in the city."
"Okay, be careful you know it's not safe..." She paused.
"Yes Mom, I know." I look outside to see the sun going down. I bite on my lower lip.
"Love you, I can't wait to meet them." She broke the silence.
"Love you too." I hang up.
I look over to the boys as they were admiring the records hanging on the walls and shiny sparkly belts. Bill looked at me and pointed at a unique pair of pants. It almost seemed to shine in the light with a little glitter.
"I think that will look great on you!" I clap my hands.
"It certainly does, maybe I can add some things to it for our performance," Bill said.
I nodded and looked outside the door. I felt some type of anxiety run through me as I saw more people coming to the parking lot at this time of night. Thanks a lot, Mom.
"Let's get going guys I'm pretty sure my mom has made dinner and is waiting for us," I suggest.
They all look at me and I bite my nails which I never do. Bill comes up to me and slaps my hand down.
"Don't do that. That's germs." He laughed.
"Sorry!"
We paid for Bill's pants and head out to the van we were driving. It was pretty small but a good travel van. Since we couldn't have the bus in public. That would just cause people to be curious. I was driving in the streets and they looked outside to see what was going on. Los Angeles is beautiful with lights and many wonders. Maybe I saw the flaws. I looked at a little group when there was a stoplight of people selling what seemed to be drugs. On the other side, I saw a guy with something in his pocket. It'd be better to not make eye contact. The guys were distracted by the big buildings and distractions from what was there. Bill noticed what I was looking at.
"Why do you notice those things?" He whispered.
"It's just how I was raised here to be watchful of your surroundings," I say quietly.
"Look at me Y/N."
I look at him and he lightly touches my cheek.
"Look at the building right there." He moved his eyes away from me. I look to see where he was looking at and it was huge. Maybe a theater with blinking lights and how it was colorful. It made me get stuck on how lovely it was.
"Notice what's good to look around." Bill got closer to my ear feeling his breath tickle me.
I look back to the front road and continue driving when the light turned green. Bill set his hand on my thigh while humming. The guys behind us were just making fake snoring sounds of how bored they were.  As we made it into my neighborhood they were looking at the houses. They weren't big but not tiny at the same time. It was a good home for a small family. I parked in the driveway and we got out. I knock on the door.
The door opened slowly and my mom was there.
"Hello! I've heard so much about you guys. Please come on in. It's cold and not safe outside." My mom waves her hands in singling for them to come in. My Mom was always paranoid about what could happen but nothing happened.
"Where is Dad?" I question.
"At work, he will be home soon." She said.
We sit at the dinner table and said our thanks. Bill was picking at his food.
"You don't like it?" I spoke for only him to hear.
"I do, just not feeling it."
"C'mon eat! We will talk after dinner."
Bill agreed and started eating. The boys were chowing down after a long day. And my mom started conversations and all of us talked for what seemed to be hours. When everyone finished Tom helped my mom with the dishes and Georg and Gustav were cleaning off the table. Bill was sipping on some juice watching them.
When we finished that I showed them where they were going to be sleeping in the guest room. Bill was going to stay in my room. When I put them to sleep because they asked me to tuck them in.
"You guys are a handful." I roll my eyes.
"How about a kiss on the head before bed?" Tom smirked.
"How about a slap in the head?" Bill recommended and gave a whack to his head.
We all laughed at it. Georg and Gustav just lay there chuckling at Tom. They say goodnight to me and Bill and we closed the door. Bill walked with me to my room.
"Oh, this is cute." He looked at the posters of him on my wall.
"Very cute..." As he looked at the stuffed animals covering my bed.
"Sorry, I haven't been in this room for a while since I bought my apartment." I shyly say.
Bill laid down on my bed curling up a bit since he was so long. His legs were going over the bed. I giggle at him.
"I'll be right back."
He nods and I leave the room to change my clothes.
When I come back I see Bill laying on the floor. "What are you doing silly?" He looked up to the roof of the room and shrugged his shoulders. I lay right next to him and hold his hand.
"What's been up with you today?" I raise a question.
"I guess I'm just used to Germany but I love it here. I feel like this can be my home. And seeing you especially is so nice. I want to live here. But I'm just nervous about the performance coming up. And then when you were noticing those things I don't want you to feel uncomfortable not sharing them with me." He confessed.
"Bill, don't worry about that. I'm going to be here by your side. You are going to do amazing. And I'm sorry if I made you feel like that. You know I just want you to enjoy the good things but sometimes every place has their bad. And this will be our home in the future."
Bill looked at me and gave me that beautiful smile. He scooted closer to me and kissed me on the lips. I run my fingers through his hair as we break the kiss. I sat up and held him in my arms while he wraps his arms around me. I kissed his cheek and then his forehead.
"Let's get on the bed Bill the floor is uncomfortable." I kissed him once more.
"Alright but just keep holding me for a bit." He pleaded and held me tighter.
"Okay, Billy."
We sat there for an extent of time and I held onto him playing with his hair as he relaxes finally.
“C’mon, lemme help you. You’re breakin’ my heart.”
It’s a Thursday night, the Eagles are playing against the Patriots, and Babe Heffron is one miserable son of a bitch. He had called Bill for an emergency meeting after a particularly gruesome day at work, which including him chasing a student eloping out of the building and down the streets of Philadelphia in 15 degree weather. Why administration hadn’t listened to him about needing locks on his doors, he’ll never understand. Babe ended the day freezing, frustrated, and with a pile of paperwork. He loved his job as a special education teacher, and loved making a difference in young lives. But days like today always brought him back to their familiar spot, The Currahee, much needed beer in hand. One beer had turned into two, and then three, and then Babe lamenting his lonely existence as a perpetually single gay man.
“Pussy hound Bill Guarnere wants to help me pick up a guy? Has hell frozen over?” Babe asks sarcastically, pressing two fingers to the pulse in his neck, “Am I dead?”
“Shaddup. Don’t act like the guys wouldn’t go crazy over me.”
Babe leans forward, reaching out to pat Bill’s arm, “Oh, baby, you drive me crazy alright.”
Babe would do anything for Bill Guarnere. When they were sixteen, and Babe finally understood why he didn’t look at girls the way other guys did, he was terrified to tell Bill that he was gay. Bill, all rough edges and macho energy, had been his best friend since the first day of kindergarten. “You tryna play?” Bill had barked at him the moment Babe stepped into the classroom, still clinging to his mother’s legs. From that moment on the two of them were inseparable. The idea of losing Bill was scarier than anything he could think of, and it took Babe months and several pep talks in the mirror to muster up the courage. So one fateful night, as they drank some stolen beers on Babe’s childhood trampoline, Babe just blurted it out.
“Bill, I like guys.”
Bill was silent for a moment, before tossing his beer over the netting and rolling on top of Babe to envelop him in a giant hug. Babe hugged him back and fought back tears against his shoulder, comforted by Bill’s gruff assurances that best friends forever meant forever. Ten years later, here they are, still thick as thieves, and Bill is adamant that all of Babe’s problems will be solved by getting laid.
“Alright, ‘nough of the funny business,” Bill puts his hands up, as serious as he could ever be. “You want my help or not? I’m tired of listenin’ to you piss and moan over what’s his face.”
“Henry,” Babe sighs, thinking of his ex boyfriend. They had only dated for the summer while Henry was doing an internship in the area. He had gone back to Buffalo in August, and Babe’s love life has been bleak since.
“Yeah, Fuckface McGee, him. You were too good for him, Babe, didn’t I always tell you that?” Bill raises a furry eyebrow, forgetting that according to him Babe was too good for every boyfriend he’s had. He had also taken up the obnoxious but well-meaning habit of running every guy Babe had ever spoken to through the database at the police station, with something as small as a speeding ticket enough to make him concerned. “How long have you known me?”
“Too damn long.”
“And have I ever steered you wrong?”
Before Babe can open his mouth, Bill points at him with a shake of his head, “Don’t answer that. Take a good look around this bar and take your pick. Daddy’s gonna help you.”
Babe looks around the bar. It’s a freezing night in January, so it’s only regulars like him and Bill who have no better place to be. He scans past familiar faces until he sees someone he doesn’t recognize.
“Him.”
Bill turns to look. This stranger is sitting at the bar, eyes laser-focused on the game playing above him. Babe can’t make out the color, but can feel the intensity in them from across the room. He’s got a short crop of black hair to match his furrowed brows, a bit of stubble, and lips that Babe is very interested in seeing up close.
“That guy? The little one with the face?”
“He’s not little.”
“You think he’s on your team?”
Babe keeps looking at this handsome stranger, taking more of him in. His gaydar has always been horrible, highlighted by the confident kiss he had once given his buddy Welsh only to gently be told that friends is all they would ever be. Babe runs on the assumption because it’s 2024, and the world is a much more accepting place than it was ten years ago, that trying to hit on a straight guy isn’t the worst thing that could happen. The stranger is still wearing his coat, despite the stuffy bar air, arms crossed and hands tucked under his armpits like he’s cold. He’s found a lonely corner of the bar, and the drink in front of him is empty. He’s got an air about him that’s says “leave me the fuck alone”, and Babe sees him shake his head when the bartender goes over. Maybe he’s getting ready to leave, he thinks. Babe starts to second guess himself, and begins looking around to see his other options. Handsome Stranger’s mysterious vibe is intriguing, but the possibility of rejection would put Babe in the ground after his rough day.
“I’m goin’ in,” Bill stands up before Babe can protest and struts over to the bar, misplaced confidence oozing out of him.
Babe can only watch in horror as Bill plops himself down next to Handsome Stranger, sticks out a meaty hand, and begins to jabber away. He decides that’s all he needs to see and sets his sight on the nearest TV just in time to watch the Eagles make a touchdown. At least it’s a good day for the Bird Gang.
A moment passes and Babe finds the courage to look back at the bar. He sees Bill stomping back over to him, face contorted in a scowl that Babe is all too familiar with. The conversation cannot have gone in his favor. The guy is definitely straight, potentially homophobic based on Bill’s visible anger.
“What did he say?” Babe dares to ask. He puts his glass to his lips, praying for a miracle.
“First of all, kid must be fuckin’ blind because he took one look at me and says ‘Absolutely not’.”
Babe chokes on his beer, sputtering foam all over the table. He pounds his chest with his fist, willing himself to breathe through his laughter. It’s not often that Bill faces rejection, and the obvious wound to his ego is something Babe will savor for years to come.
“So I says, ‘Listen, toots’-“
Babe’s laughter is cut short and he groans, because of course Bill would make an ass of himself, and by extension, Babe. “Bill, no, you did not call him ‘toots’-“
“I says, ‘first of all, you ain’t my type, with the lack of tits and that pissy pout-“
“BILL!”
“-and you ain’t for me, you’re for the poor fucker sittin’ over here’”, Bill plops back down in his chair, shaking his head. He finishes his beer and sighs, like the interaction has exhausted him, “And then I walked away before I punched him in the mouth.”
Babe just drops his head down on the table. This isn’t the first time Bill has been an absolute beast in public, and it certainly won’t be the last. Babe’s minuscule dream of a night not spent alone has been dashed.
“You need a muzzle,” he mumbles to the wood, “I’m gonna have to tie you to the pole outside. Put up a sign that says, ‘please don’t pet me, I bite’.”
“Don’t be a prick. Can’t say I didn’t tr-“
“Hey.”
Babe looks up and Jesus Christ, Handsome Stranger is standing right in front of him. Although the bar is quieter than usual, the man had appeared with such silence that Babe wonders if he appeared out of thin air. He can barely believe this is real, certain that the guy was either straight or so repulsed by Bill that all hope was lost.
“Hey,” he squeaks out. Oh, Christ. He clears his throat and repeats himself, “Hey.”
The guy stares at him with those dark eyebrows still furrowed, like he’s looking at something under a microscope. Suddenly self-conscious under his unrelenting gaze, Babe runs his hand over his forehead, trying to rub away any red mark that might be left from slamming his head down.
God, up close he really is hot. His eyes are somewhere between blue and grey, complimented by the blue scrubs he’s wearing under his coat. Babe feels his cheeks turning as red as his hair, but unable to look away from those unblinking eyes. Over the hum of distant conversations and game commentary, Babe wonders if Handsome Stranger can hear his heart thumping out of his chest.
“You his friend?” He sticks a thumb at Bill, who immediately straightens up.
“His best friend, actu-“
“Give me your phone.”
Babe could fall out of his chair. There’s no way.
“My what?”
“Your phone. It’s right there.” Handsome Stranger points to where it rests on the table next to Babe’s glass.
“Oh, yeah, sure, here.” Babe scrambles to grab his phone and unlock it, handing it over quicker than he would like to admit.
The stranger taps at it and then quickly types something in and hands it back to Babe. He looks to see his contacts open, with a new addition: Eugene Roe. He doesn’t recognize the area code, explaining why he’s never seen this Eugene before tonight.
“Cool beans,” is all Babe can think to say because holy shit, he did not expect Bill to actually pull through with this. When he looks up again, Eugene Roe is gone. He looks to the door just in time to see it swing shut, catching a quick glimpse of white sneakers walking away.
Bill gives him a shit eat grinning and grabs his shoulders to give him a rough shake.
“Cool beans? What are you, fuckin’ twelve?”
“I panicked,” Babe defends himself. He can’t help but smile and looks back at his phone. He wonders if it would make him seem desperate to text him right now. Yeah, it would, he decides, maybe he’ll wait an hour-
Bill cackles, a sound that shocks Babe back into reality. “Never say I never did nothin’ for you, even though that guy is already on thin fuckin’ ice with me. Now go buy me a beer. The king is thirsty.”
Babe happily obliges, making his way over to the bar in a half-daze. While the bartender pours Bill’s beer, Babe looks back over to where his handsome no-longer a stranger was sitting. Eugene Roe, he thinks, who are you?
a thought about georg sleeping near you a bunch
you know that one scientific study talking about the urge to sleep near people you trust/love? georg would do it, 100%.
you sat on the club couch on your phone sipping liquor slowly, while texting or snapping photos as loud music banged against the walls. looking over at your boyfriend, you could tell he was feeling wearily from the mix of alcohol and performing as he sat next to you compared to his band mates up and dancing.
his hooded eyes glanced over at you, with almost pleading looks as he began getting up to plop down on you. "babe, i'm so tired." he mumbled, head already laid against your shoulder while his arms wrapped around you with his eyes closed.
"can i rest here 'til it 's time to go?" he slurred, sleep immediately consuming his body in your presence. you didn't even have to respond for him to make himself comfortable on your lap, face pressed into your stomach to inhale the scent of you.
tom came to get his friend but shook his head at the scene of his friend who pressed softly against his lover while sound asleep.
Barry walked in with his arm around another woman, and that’s how everyone in the class knew that things were about to get a lot more interesting.
Barry and Sally had had a pretty messy breakup a few months before that had resulted in Barry considering quitting his acting class. Sally claimed she just couldn’t put in the same efforts into a relationship and her career, and she thought that Barry deserved better, but everyone in the class knew that she broke up with him in a moment of jealousy when an acting recruiter had taken interest in Barry after a play they had put off a few months before. Because of their breakup, Barry had gone into a stupor and missed the opportunity, and Sally seemed absolutely tickled by that.
Then, suddenly, Barry came into class after having missed more than a week and he was much happier than when they had all last seen him. After being prodded by his classmates for a while, he admitted that he had met someone and was going on a date with them after class that night. Everyone seemed happy for him, especially Gene who was glad that Barry was finally back in class. But Sally was very notably not sharing everyone else’s enthusiasm.
Judging by the PDA and the happiness that was absolutely radiating off of Barry, this was his new girlfriend.
“Hey, Mr. Cousineau,” Barry said, approaching the acting teacher. “This is my girlfriend, (Y/N). Is it alright if she sits in to watch today?”
Gene smiled at (Y/N). “Got an interest in acting, young lady?”
She shook her head. “No, sorry, but Barry talks up this class all the time. He swears he has the best acting teacher in all of Hollywood.”
Gene laughed. “Flattery gets you everywhere, sweetheart. You can sit with the others, I just ask you don’t disrupt us while we’re on class time.”
(Y/N) agreed and followed Barry to sit down. His classmates were quick to come sit next to them, all excitedly introducing themselves to (Y/N). She felt a little overwhelmed by all the attention, but she also knew what she was getting into when she came to the class. She had been asking Barry for weeks about coming to watch him during his acting class, but he kept saying he didn’t want to “scare her away” just yet. At first she had laughed at that, but now she was definitely seeing how that might’ve been something he was worried about.
Everyone was so engrossed in the new comer that no one noticed when Sally walked in, and she definitely did not like that.
“What’s going on?” she asked, trying to keep a light tone in her voice but anyone who was paying attention would notice the strain of it.
And that “anyone” was, of course, Barry, who knew Sally like no one else did.
(Y/N) smiled and stood to greet Sally. “Hi, I’m (Y/N). I’m Barry’s girlfriend.”
She held her hand out to Sally, who merely looked at it as if it was diseased. Noticing her expression, (Y/N) slowly and awkwardly lowered her hand again.
“Sally,” Sally responded.
(Y/N) fought the urge to say “I figured”.
“Are you joining the class?” Sally asked.
“Oh, no. I can’t act for shit. I came to watch Barry.”
Sally made a fake sad face. “Oh, well Cousineau doesn’t allow people who aren’t in the class to stay.”
“She got my permission,” Gene said. “Sit down, Sally, now that you’re here we can start.”
The look on Sally’s face could only be described as annoyance. She marched up the stairs and sat as far away from everyone else as she could. (Y/N) sat down next to Barry again. He took her hand in his and gave it a reassuring squeeze. She smiled up at him and leaned into him. She could feel the daggers that Sally was glaring into the back of her head, but as long as she was with Barry she didn’t really care too much. She felt safer with him by her side.
Gene started the class by handing out a script to everyone. He said they were going to do scene work, which meant they were going to assign roles and act out a scene. There were only a small handful of roles within the scene, so not everyone was going to get a chance, but Gene said they would switch and have other people do the roles in the following class. He passed (Y/N) a script just so she could follow along and went on to assign the roles. The big two went to Barry and Sally, while the two smaller roles went to two other male students, Nick and Eric.
“The scene is of two former love birds having a domestic dispute over the custody of their son, who will be played by Eric, and then Nick, you’ll be playing the brother to Sally’s character who is coming to try and defuse the whole situation,” Gene explained.
“Shouldn’t be hard for them,” someone behind (Y/N) muttered.
She tried not to be too upset over Sally getting the lead with Barry, conveniently when the scene was about two exes. It wasn’t like Barry was never going to act with Sally ever during class, and Barry had already told her how Sally was essentially the star of Gene’s class. But she couldn’t help but feel a little uncomfortable with what she was going to be witnessing. At least the scene was ex-lovers and not current.
They set up for the scene on stage, with Barry stood off to the side as he was meant to enter when the scene started. Sally and Eric were stood on the other side of the stage, with Eric on his knees to portray a young child. (Y/N) giggled to herself at how he looked, which earned her a quick glare from Sally. When they made eye contact, (Y/N) slowly sunk down into her seat.
“Okay, and...” Gene said, taking his seat in the front row. “Action!”
Barry walked on and mimed knocking at a door. Sally opened the “door” and asked, “What are you doing here?”
“I’m here for Mike. It’s my weekend with him.”
“Your weekend?!” Sally snapped, her voice sounding a bit more vicious than the words needed to be.
“Cut!” Gene said. “Sally, reel it in a little for now, okay? Your character isn’t lashing out at Barry yet.”
Sally huffed a sigh and nodded. Gene told them to take it from Sally’s line.
“Your weekend?” Sally asked, a lot less angry than before.
“Yeah, that’s how custody agreements work, Julie. You had him for the week, not I get him for the weekend, remember?”
“I told you he was staying with me this weekend. He has a birthday -”
“‘It’s my dad’s birthday’,” Gene corrected.
“Right, sorry.” Sally quickly got back into character to try again. “I told you he was staying with me this weekend. It’s my dad’s birthday, he wants all of us to go spend the weekend at his cabin.”
“You certainly did not tell me that, otherwise I wouldn’t be here.”
Sally opened her mouth to say her line, but hesitated. She looked down at her script quickly. Everyone in the room looked at each other, and (Y/N) heard a few murmurs.
“Sally?” Gene prompted.
“Sorry, I lost my spot,” Sally said.
“Do you want to start from the top?” Gene asked.
“No, no, it’s fine. I’ll find it. Uh.”
She was looking at the page for so long that Barry tried to reach over to point out where they were. She jerked her paper away from him and muttered something along the lines of “I got it”.
“Say your line again, Barry,” Gene said, sounding somewhat exasperated.
“You certain did not tell me that, otherwise I wouldn’t be here.”
“It’s not my fault that you don’t listen, Sam. I definitely told you that Mike is staying with me this weekend. You can take him next week if you want, but I already agreed to these plans with dad.”
“I can’t take him next week, Julie, I have work. That’s why we agreed on weekend custody for the time being. Who’s going to look after him while I’m working in the evening.”
(Y/N) was engrossed in the scene. Well, in Barry acting the scene, anyways. He was doing really well, even with Sally’s screw ups. She had seen him rehearse at home before, but he did seem to be in his element here. It made her want to see him in an actual play even more than she did before.
At one point, when Sally had fumbled a line again, Barry turned to meet (Y/N)’s eye. She smiled at him and gave him a thumbs up. He smiled back and winked at her.
Sally scowled. “Hey, don’t break the scene!”
“Too late,” Eric said from the side of the stage.
“Really, Sally, maybe we take five to go over the scene alone,” Gene suggested.
“No, I’m fine. It’s her.”
Everyone followed Sally’s outstretched finger to look at (Y/N). She felt her face burn. “I-I’m just...watching.”
“You’re sitting there judging me,” Sally insisted. “I can see it. You’re judging me and it’s fucking me up.”
“Sally, I think you may be over exaggerating a little,” Barry said. “She’s just watching.”
“No. She’s judging me, and I want her out!”
Sally crossed her arms and looked to Gene. She seemed to be the only one in the room against (Y/N). Even Gene looked frustrated with the way Sally was acting. He ran a hand over his face and heaved a heavy sigh, but then surprised everyone by saying, “I’m sorry (Y/N), you’ll have to leave.”
If there was any way to feel even more embarrassed, (Y/N) was definitely feeling it in that moment. The blush in her face from Sally’s earlier claims deepened a lot.
“Mr. Cousineau, that’s not fair,” Barry argued.
“I’m sorry, Barry, but if it will get Sally to shut up and act better, then (Y/N) will just have to go.”
Everyone was still looking at her. She slowly rose from her seat, moving mainly on autopilot as she was too in shock to think about what she was doing. Suddenly, she felt like she was back in high school. Sally was like the mean girl who everyone loathed but followed out of fear of her wrath, including the teacher, apparently. She even looked so smug as (Y/N) started to leave, reveling in her win.
But, as she reached the door, (Y/N) remembered that they weren’t in high school anymore. They were adults, and she was about to act like an adult.
She turned back to say, “Sally, you’re a bitch.”
There was a collective gasp from the students.
Before Sally could respond, (Y/N) continued, “You are a cold hearted, selfish, self centered bitch. You think because you played a few lead roles in stage plays, and had a few five second cameos in whatever CSI is currently on air, that you run the world. But the truth is, you’re just a high school mean girl that peaked before you even graduated.”
(Y/N) glanced at Barry, who was watching her with a shocked look on his face. She wasn’t sure if he was upset at her outburst or just surprised by it. Either way, she couldn’t stop herself now. She was on a roll.
“You never deserved Barry,” she said. “You treated him like you treat everyone else: like a prop to get yourself ahead. When he was no longer useful to you, you dumped him and let him be broken for months. And now you can’t stand that he’s happy again with someone who genuinely cares for him, so you have to try to ruin that. Well, I’ll tell you something, you may have kicked me out, but I’m still the one who gets to have Barry come home to me. You go home to, what, your empty house and one page script for your next miniscule role?”
The room was silent. There was many emotions on everyone’s faces. No one made any move to speak or anything, so (Y/N) took it as her cue to leave. She hurried out the door, leaving the sound of it closing behind her to echo through the room.
The cool evening air cooled down her burning face as she crossed the parking lot to Barry’s car. Once she reached it, she felt the anger subsiding and a slight feeling of guilt crept into her. She didn’t regret what she said at all, but maybe she could’ve done it a better way. Like maybe not in front of Barry’s entire acting class and his acting teacher.
She went to open the car door, but realized Barry had the keys. Obviously, it was his car, but she had been so angry she had forgotten she didn’t have the key. She sighed and leaned against the car. In that moment, the building door opened again. (Y/N) looked up to see Barry was approaching her.
“I’m so sorry, Barry,” she said. “I know I shouldn’t have snapped like that in front of everyone. I was just angry and I refused to let her embarrass me before I left - ”
Barry cut her off by cupping her face and kissing her. She was taken by surprise and pulled away to ask, “You’re not mad?”
“I am the opposite of mad,” he said. “I haven’t loved you more than I did when you were calling out Sally in there.”
(Y/N) playfully raised an eyebrow at him. “Love?”
“You heard me.”
It was the first time Barry had said the big L word. (Y/N) was definitely not going to let him forget that the first time he said it was because she had called his ex-girlfriend down to the dirt in front of his whole class.
“You know I meant every word, right?” she asked. “She never deserved you. You deserve someone who will treat you so much better than she did.”
Barry wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her to him. “I know I do, and I have that now.”
(Y/N) smiled and leaned in to kiss Barry again. She was glad he wasn’t mad at her for her outburst, and she was especially glad she was the one to get to make him happy.
“You should go back and finish your scene,” she said after she reluctantly pulled away from their kiss. “I don’t want you to get in trouble for being gone so long.”
“I told Cousineau to give another classmate my role. And I told him I wouldn’t act with Sally ever again, not even during our big class productions.”
(Y/N) gasped and pulled away from him. “Barry you can’t do that!”
“I can, and I did.”
“But...why?”
“Because you were right about her. She’s selfish and self centered. I refuse to be used by her anymore, or risk having her try to sabotage my potential acting career again.”
She was stunned. She couldn’t believe he was being serious. But also, she felt overjoyed to hear that Barry was finally putting himself first. She threw her arms around his neck and hugged him so tightly that she nearly knocked him over. Barry laughed and pried her off of him.
“Want to go to the diner?” he asked. “Then you can come back to my place for the night.”
She nodded. “Yeah, I’d love that.”
I keep thinking about Stan getting a pet parrot, naming him Whisper and how Whisper absolutely hates Bill. Chases him around the house, is constantly nipping at him, and screams anytime he enters the room. In Stan’s eyes Whisper can do no wrong and so he’s always like “What did you do to him?!” At Bill and poor Bill is like!!! “Nothing! That bird is just the devil!”
Bonus: Whisper loves Richie and Stan hates it bc he’s always teaching the bird to say cuss words.
